Story:

On the day he was born, the medicine cat died.

For some Star-forsaken reason, Stonestar decided that this meant that he was meant to be the next medicine cat.

So he was trained, almost as soon as his eyes were opened, to treat his Clanmates.

His mother busied herself with working on new inventions to help the Clan, while his father wouldn’t stop complaining about the problems caused by Reedclan.

So little Shrikekit started experimenting, only stumbling upon a perfect recipe once he earned his full name.

Obviously, his first test subjects were his sisters.

He found that, if mixed with water from a certain spring, subjects would transform into a rage state, only reverting back when the ingredients wore off, which, in one instance, wasn’t until the next day.

When Stonestar declared war on Reedclan, he passed his sisters the bundles under the guise of traveling herbs.

The results were even better than expected.

Twenty-two warriors, queens, and apprentices lay dead in the snow, his sisters still patrolling the camp in their berserker states, searching for signs of life.

He couldn’t help but smile. He had done it! He had successfully eliminated the Reedclan menace, and now, there wouldn’t be any more Reedclan to compete with!

He was so absorbed with his victory that he didn’t hear the survivors pounce.

Even though they are excited to finally be made an apprentice, it takes a bit of coaxing by Oddflight for Shrikekit to step forward for their ceremony. Oddflight watches in pride as they're named Shrikepaw and touch noses with Goatcry

Hyacinthpaw can't believe their apprenticeship is finally here! Nearly tripping over their own paws, they scurry up to Warblermoor, excitedly touching noses with them

Starlingstar chooses Morningrose to take over as deputy. They hope that Civet would approve

Misc 2

Morningrose and Pichi broke up and immediately got back together

Buttercupglint gathered up the kits to tell them stories of The Great Tail-Chaser, The Place of No Stars, and The Leopard's Spots Buttercupglint always seems to have cardinal feathers stuck in their fur

For just one perfect moment, heads pressed together and speaking their commitment in front of the Clan, there's nothing in Eldersteep and Goatcry's worlds but love

Ramcatcher misstepped and slipped from a rock, but landed on their feet nimbly, their Clanmates commenting on the show of dexterity

Worm was seen arguing, and border-line fighting, with a loner

Snapmuzzle travels to LionClan to resolve recent hunting disputes. The meeting goes better than expected, and Snapmuzzle returns with plans to solve the issue for good

Description:   small, gray-and-white tom with short fur and golden eyes like his mother.

Personality:  

Shrikekit is curious and playful; he loves attention and socializing. Therefore, he becomes devastated if ignored or told he can’t participate in something. He is very friendly to other cats, being quick to trust. He adores tagging after his favorite cats, although he’s not especially talkative or great at talking. He can be too adventurous, straying into danger. He is extremely attached to his family and looks up to his mother’s fierce protection, wanting to emulate her.

Crowstorm was partially raised by Applenose. As a kit, he was certainly fond of her, even if she had less of a direct approach to parenting than someone like Swanface. He looked up to her, admired her as he did all nursery queens. She was always a beacon of strength and a source of comfort, something familiar to turn to...until she wasn’t. Crowstorm grew up, and with him Applenose grew, too, changing to a cat who he couldn’t quite understand. He knew there was a difference in her behavior, but never quite took it upon himself to handle her issues. He was still relatively young, after all, dealing with a lot of angst and trauma...Crowstorm never stopped respecting her, though, even in her worst days. To him, she was always one of the many queens who raised him, and therefore one of NettleClan’s strongest cats. He misses her now, though her loss is less strong than the loss of someone like Swanface who he had a direct bond with until the very end.

Palestar hardly has a direct relationship with either Briarpaw or Shrikekit, though that doesn’t mean she doesn’t think of them. She placed Briarpaw with Bramblefang intentionally, hoping that one of her most trusted and loyal warriors would do well with keeping her in line and crafting her into a fine young cat. She has high expectations of Briarpaw, as well, given her mother. Palestar and Tarbush were kithood friends, and Palestar knows her as an excellent FogClan cat, so of course she expects her kits to be the same. With Shrikekit...she’s keeping her eye on him, but not becoming overly involved just yet. She’s hoping to see him develop more, and if that shy streak continues...well. She might step in personally to help out.

“He’s one of CreekClan’s finest, of course...but don’t tell anyone you heard that from me.”

Poppycloud obviously loves Sparrowheart. Other cats have noticed it, called her out on it, and I think she is aware of her own feelings, even if she doesn’t particularly want to be, because admitting to having feelings for him is a way of admitting failure as a medicine cat. It’s not a desperately drastic situation for her, and she’d love to confess and be happy with him, but...there’s still a bit of workaholic Poppycloud deep within her. There’s still a bit of the Poppycloud who focuses only on other cats and not on herself. Still, though, she absolutely adores him, and would one hundred percent be telling the truth in saying she believes he’s the most honorable and respectable cat in CreekClan. He’s charming, honest, open, friendly, admirable in every way. He totally has her head over heels for him. She’s smitten! Still! He’s the one cat she can fully open up to, the one cat who has made her feel like she’s Poppycloud the cat rather than Poppycloud, CreekClan’s Medicine Cat, and for that, she’ll always be grateful for him.

Gather round, little ones!

I’ll tell you the story of the singing queen

She was born of the sands,

No parents, no home,

Just a song on her tongue and a twitch in her tail

As she walked towards the horizon she grew, grew heavy with kits!

With life!

Life! What joy, what honour bestowed!

But tragedy struck her, her baby lay stillborn,

Bones scoured clean by the cruel desert winds.

Unfair! Unfair! She cried to the stars,

Placing her baby,

Under the sky

She wailed her grief, for so many nights, unable to let her grief go and be free,

But she heard the stories,

Those stories of yore,

Of cats brought back to life, from beyond death’s door

She went to the Clans, her songs on her tongue, and she asked for a kit, not many, just one

They turned her away, citing stars and their creed

Not really caring, who was hurt by their greed

She persisted still, knowing her baby, would need more life, the longer they lay. She abducted many kits, singing them out,

Out of their camps and safe paws of their mothers,

To the bones of her baby,

She killed for her baby

Fifteen little lives.

Now kits you must ask yourself one question.

When did I lead you, so far from camp?
