there are so many invasive and/or hard to kill plants in my yard lmao we have creeping charlie (in the mint family), tatarian honeysuckle, a couple black walnut trees, a bunch of ivy I haven’t identified!!! they’re all fighting a war and the dandelions are caught in the crossfire
#it’s fun collecting the flowers around my house and trying to identify them#the tatarian honeysuckle I just saw today and learned about today#I learned about creeping charlie last tuesday#also I don’t think black walnut is invasive or hard to kill but it does kill everything else around it#so#that’s why I included it

Scavengers’ Feast on the Tatarian Steppe
As a Nose-Beast and two Tapir-Horses graze in the distance, the carcass of a huge subadult Elephant-Boar, the largest and heaviest herbivore ever to inhabit Tataria, has drawn in a host of scavengers from all across the steppe that spans the central and eastern halves of the Potworian island-continent; a swarm of the 2-meter-tall flightless vulture Paragyps vulgaris, a flock of kingfisher-relatives known as Scarletbills, a growing assembly of Lesser Ibis-Headed Parachiropterans, and a pair of Grass-Stalkers. A hectic, noisy feeding frenzy will soon ensue amongst all these diverse carnivores as they seek to strip the Elephant-Boar carcass of all its flesh.

My personal headcanon ‘human’ names for the gang. Japanese because I’m a shameless otaku.
(Gotta say it was really, really hard to find somewhat neutral names that also still related to their color, especially with orange.)
Names are family name first as per Japanese customs.
The Second Coming: Sairin 再臨 再臨 = second coming I think it’d be very funny and fitting to have TSC be the only one with just a single name that is just literally the Japanese version of “the second coming” because it stands out a lot.
Green: Midorikawa Matsuri 緑川 松里 緑 = green 川 = river 松 = pine tree 里 = location Pine trees are evergreen trees, meaning they always stay green. Alliteration is always nice.
Red: Kouya Akane 紅夜 茜 紅 = red 夜 = night 茜 = red (specifically a type of red that’s called ‘rose madder’)
Blue: Aoharu Mizuki 青春 水月 青 = blue (the word 青 itself can also be interpreted as green as well as blue. It typically depends on context; though it is ‘teal’ in a technical sense and ‘azure’ in a poetic one. It’s an East Asian thing) 春 = spring 水 = water 月 = moon I just think 水月 is a cute name. Two characters I know are also named 水月 and they’re both blue-themed as well.
Yellow: Kise Hikari 黄瀬 光 黄 = yellow 瀬 = current 光 = light Redstone can be seen as a sort of current that runs through other blocks to make them work in a poetic kind of sense.
Purple: Fujiwara Yukari 藤原 紫 藤 = wisteria 原 = field 紫 = purple In this case, 紫 is also intended as a shortened form of 紫苑, the tatarian aster flower that means “I won’t forget you” in hanakotoba.
King Orange/Mango: Sayu Hachirou 小百 八郎 小 = small 百 = hundred 八 = eight 郎 = son
Now I know this one is a bit unusual and I might’ve bent the language and what is considered a name just a bit to make it work. But that’s all because I put quite something in it, and I think that it’d only be fitting for it to be unusual. As a first, to tie in with Purple, his name contains 小百, which is part of 小百合, the orange lily that means “hatred” and “revenge” in hanakotoba. 百八 is also the number 108 together, the number of temptations a person has to withstand to reach nirvana.
After redemption he would change his family name to 百日(hyakuni), swapping the position of the 百 (to show a turnaround) and subsequently inducing 百日草, the zinnia flower (which also comes in orange) that means “loyalty”.
百 can also be pronounced as “momo”, a homophone with a pronunciation of the word 桃, “peach” which has pink flowers, secretly linking him to Purple’s mother (and indicating him as Purple’s new family/parental figure depending on your interpretation).
(You might also have noticed that 百 has 3 different pronunciations. That’s a thing.)

I know honeysuckle has already been submitted but i just wanted to let yall know a study found that tatarian honeysuckle (and silvervine and valerian root) can give some cats the same reaction as catnip, even cats who dont react to catnip. Drug references abound:
I propose honeysucklesip as a medicine cat who constantle chews on honeysuckle like a drug. Silvervine would also work on its own but you could have silvervineleaf, silvervinetail, silvervineslip. Valerianroot could be a name on its own. I dont remember if theres canon anesthesia in wc but these would probably be used for it. Anesthesiologist bonesetter cat named SilvervineSet.
Bonesetter is also a valid name

So which do you guys prefer? Classic catnip, valerian, silver vine, or tatarian honeysuckle?
"Those of us who are cultured know silver vine is the best choice for its effect."
"There are other kinds of nip? Nomad, why didn't you tell me?"
"It's already enough that catnip is expensive, especially in the bulk amounts I need for my drug-head oaf. Now he's going to start asking for different kinds. Thanks a lot!"

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARRY!! I LOVE YOU!!
the flowers in marry's bouquet are tulips and zinnias. tulips denote eternal love and devotion, and zinnias serve as a reminder to never forget your friends and lasting affection. the thistle and tatarian aster in the foreground are self explanatory.

i get what youre saying but 80 yrs ago or 400 land back is land back, the tatars deserve the final say tbh. im a different person, but like. ethnic cleansing of an indigenous group making them less of the population isnt a reason to listen to the majority that is there. its actually less of a reason??
yeah, i mean, i understand what you're saying and i'm sympathetic to your viewpoint--but it's important to realize that tatarian soverignty isn't actually an option that's on the table in the context i'm talking about. it's not something the russian or ukrainian state is willing to offer, and while that restoration of sovereignty continues to not be an option, i think it's still pretty important to bear in mind what the other 85% of people there want when you're advocating for/criticizing real-world policy proposals.
