It's time once again to take a look at what's coming in the next anime season and Winter 2025... Is not looking to hot for me...
There's a fair amount of continuations to decently popular series but good lord there's so many uninterested looking series that don't have anything that immediately catches my attention and the generic isekai trash pile looks extra hefty this season. I'm sure I can carve out a decent watch list, but I'm probably going to have to do a fair amount of dumpster diving beforehand...
Continuations:
Shangri-La Frontier S2 (Second cour)
Tumblr media
Fuck yeah, more Shangri-La Frontier!
Toilet-bound Hanako-kun S2
Tumblr media
I remember liking the first season a lot so I'm looking forward to more.
For Sure:
From Bureaucrat to Villainess
Tumblr media
I've already read the manga so this one is an early recommend. It's basically "What if the most supportive and caring father figure in your life was also an ojou-sama".
Maybe:
I May Be a Guild Receptionist, but I'll Solo Any Boss to Clock Out on Time
Tumblr media
Quest giver going "Fine I'll do it myself". Yeah sure I'll check that out.
The Red Ranger Becomes an Adventurer in Another World
Tumblr media
Tokusatsu red ranger getting isekaied? Yeah sure, that sounds like it might be fun.
Sorairo Utility
Tumblr media
Another golf girl stor- i mean, anime. I probably wouldn't have given this the time of the day normally, but Birdie Wing demands I at least check out if the CGDCT golf anime has any sauce.
Sakamoto Days
Tumblr media
I've seen panels of this around so sure I'll give the former hitman anime a try.
I Have a Crush at Work
Tumblr media
An established relationship in office setting. Could be cute.
Tasokare Hotel
Tumblr media
Concept sounds sorta kinda like Death Parade so it might be worth a look.

Tasokare Hotel has set a great foundation for itself. Detective series with some added murder-mystery vibes. Definitely one we'll have to keep up with!

It's finally here ! the Tasokare Hotel anime, I really liked the opening, the start sounded really good especially with the visuals...! And about the story in episode 1, I actually think it was rather good for them to start with this tarot girl despite it being an original story, and also, original story ??? I didn't think they would go this far for us fans, good job animation team, looking for forward to how the future episodes will be like, anyways good way of starting the series, giving us a perfect example of a successful "check out" because spoiler alert
Pretty sure the first guy in the game, didn't really have a good ending if I remember correctly, if I'm not wrong he didn't get to check out ? Or did I forget🤔

Seasonal First Impressions: Check in to TASOKARE HOTEL
Tasokare Hotel is an understated, surprising standout, a fine-tuned clockwork of a show based on momentum and subtle detail.
Seasonal First Impressions is a column where I detail my thoughts, however brief or long, about a currently-airing anime’s first episode or so. Among the crop of a given anime season, you can usually sort the premieres into three categories: promising, not-so-promising, and those that make the viewer emit a long, drawn out, neutral “huuuuuuhhhh.” Tasokare Hotel is one of these. A decidedly…

First Impression: Tasokare Hotel
Tumblr media
Tasokare (twilight) is a fitting name for this hotel because it’s for guests who are unsure whether they’re dead or alive. Tsukahara suddenly arrives in this place without knowing anything about herself. The peculiar-looking but friendly enough hotel manager informs her that she can discover her identity and fate by investigating her hotel room. She gets to that immediately, but it seems like she won’t find all the answers right away. Knowing that she’ll stay there for a while, Tsukahara uses the opportunity to interact with her fellow guests, each with their own identity riddle to solve. She quickly takes up the role of detective, helping others find answers about themselves. How many people will she assist before uncovering her own story?

Tasokare Hotel ep1; short review
Not a very impactful first episode, but a good episode still.
We're introduced to our protagonist as she lays on the floor, losing her blood from a bad wound on her side. She then wakes up in a strange desert, and enters a hotel whose manager has a head of flames.
Point of mystery, we can't see her eyes.
It's explained that the hotel is a place of rest for souls that are between the land of the living and the land of the afterlife, because they're not sure if they're dead or not. Okay.
Each guest is assigned a room that contains hints about their past life so they can find out who they are, recover their memories and take a decision: go back to their life, or move on. Arito, who is in the same case as our protagonist, takes her to her room as he got too bored in the hotel so now he works there.
Our main protagonist remembers the last event before her... supposed almost death: an idol concert, and she then finds her name on a school ID card: Neko Tsukahara.
Tumblr media
Yah, she looks silly.
We meet the hotel's staff, a cute girl who works in the kitchen that instantly captures Neko's heart, a bartender with horns, and a guest with a frog (?) face.
Another guest appears, a young girl wearing a tarot card as head. She arrived the day before, and still hasn't found much about herself. Neko being curious, she and Arito help that girl search her room, as the room can "change" as the guest remembers their past. They do find out what happened to her, and after some words of encouragement from Neko, she goes back to the land of the living... just by leaving the hotel.
Neko, who finds the whole process very interesting, asks to join the hotel's staff.
The opening then plays, and while it's an okay opening, some of the shots do throw mystery on what really happened to Neko, who she is, and hints at the number of "cases" Neko will solve during her stay at the hotel.
It was overall charming, though. I'll give it a chance until ep3 or 5 if the atmosphere deepens a bit and the main character stays tolerable.
