Can I ask for the powers and Homeworld role of a tashmarine?
Well, given how unbelievably long it's been since this ask was sent in, I doubt you need or want this answer anymore, Anon. However, I remembered this blog exists, and kind of miss it, so I will answer old asks for my own peace of mind.
Powers for Tashmarine:
• Water related abilities - The name Tashmarine comes from 'Tash' from 'Tashkent' where the stone was discovered, and 'marine' meaning, well, ocean or water. Maybe something like purifying water, controlling bubbles, turning their form into water, or weather related powers could work.
•Blood manipulation - some believe that Diopside, the family of stones Tashmarine is part of, helps with blood health. However, this power may not make much sense to you as gems have no blood. You could perhaps stretch this concept a little and give your Tashmarine abilities such as;
•Possession or controlling other's bodies,
•Energy control, be it in all livings things or just gems. If they were strong enough, maybe they could knock out a being instantly, or revert a gem's form to a smaller size.
As for Homeworld roles, if we take into consideration the possible abilities above:
•Overseeing the plans for terraforming of planets, or assuring they are safe to be colonised.
•If you want the water purification ability, they could make sure places like Sea Spires and Reefs are safe from water damage.
•Gem surgeon - this is a bit of a silly one, but I like it. As I imagine gems with profound healing abilities might not always be easy to come by, especially for serious injuries, perhaps a Tashmarine could work on temporary fixes for injuries like cracks or chips.
•Lastly, for the possession abilities, I feel like an interrogator would be a very fun role. They could force gems to talk, or even from a dramatic story perspective, you could have a Tashmarine who possessed a gem so they could commit a crime themselves, unnoticed.
Again, I know you probably are no longer in need of this information, however when the Rock Autism(tm) strikes, I have to feed it somehow.

had a thought today— Mondo himself has a lot of oni motifs in canon. in the Gem AU, our boy has been around for thousands of years as human civilization has developed and is, of course, based in Japan. what if with all of his similarities (imposing physique, long pointy pompadour that might be mistaken for a huge horn at first blush, lightning powers, lives in mountains, tiger-striped clothing, general meanness) he was literally thought to be an oni by the locals, or even partly inspired the folklore? Or maybe it's mostly the former, but he likes to pretend that it's mainly the latter because he thinks it makes him sound cooler, lmao.
and that, in turn, gave me an idea about Tashmarine going on an aquatic mission and getting mistaken for a kappa. he's small, green, has a frog/turtle-like face, and a liquid substance comes from his head (albeit from his gemstone, not a little dish). hell, maybe the person who saw him on this mission mistook a bubbled corrupted gem for a shirikodama.
there's not really a point to any of this, I just thought it was a fun idea. it's sort of an extension of the chicken-and-egg line of thought from the "did they adopt bosozoku fashion or did the bosozoku derive their style from them?" post I made a while ago.

Role/weapon for a Tashmarine? Pls and thank you!
Tashmarine is a rare variety of diopside that’s a recent-ish discovery (it was discovered in the 21st century). There are no metaphysical properties on it, but we can use diopside and information on this gem to help us out.
Roles: Tashmarine is a mix of the words “tash” (short for Tashkent, the city of capital city of Uzbekistan) means stone and marine refers to the ocean or sea. It was named as such in order to symbolically connect Asia and Europe together, as the Tashkent was an important trade point on the old Silk Road between China and Europe. There’s a number of things you can do with this. Firstly, Tashmarine could be a kind of diplomat who keeps the peace between gems, often known for finding compromises or solutions. Secondly, they could be a gem known to keep others in line. This could also could fit in a diplomatic role, but I can see this being done in a military setting. This is a gem to go to when another starts acting out of line. Lastly, on the lighter side, they act as delivery gems, sending important resources, gems, or technology to other gem colonies.
Weapons: Going back to its name, because it was meant to connect Europe and Asia, we should use weapons that symbolize that. So I think weapons connected together or dual wield weapons are very appropriate. Here are some examples: nun-chucks, ball and chain, two or three sectioned staff, chain whip, flails (like the Russian flail and Chigiriki), meteor hammers, Kyoketsu-shoge, chain sickle, harpoon gun, rope dart, deer horn knives, hook swords, Kusari-fundo, etc. Double handed weapons are acceptable too. Diopside is said to be a stone of love so a crossbow or bow and arrow can be used for Tashmarine too. Diopside is also a creative stone so you could give Tashmarine weapons that revolve around art supplies (brushes, ink pens, carving tools, etc) or a multi-purpose tool.

This is my entry for @almightyhamslice‘s contest, congrats on 200 followers man!!!
This is Tashmarine Diopside. She is a pilot turned mechanic. She is only half-blind, due to complications when forming, but she adopted the nickname ‘Lucky’ from her colleagues, due to her being able to miraculously fix and create working machines, despite her barely knowing where she’s going.
Surprisingly, she is the best and friendliest worker at her workplace. She helps around the community too, helping her team when the annual soapbox cart race came around, unfortunately only coming second.
The black stains are oil btw, not markings.

Okay, so! 👏
Thousands of years ago when the Gem Empire was colonizing Earth, two perfect tiger's eyes emerged from the Beta Kindergarten who didn't want to be under the thumb of any Diamond. They thought of themselves as their own Diamonds. So, they renounced their serial numbers and dubbed themselves one half of the sacred gem type: becoming Daiya and Mondo.
They are dismissively called "The Crazy Diamonds" by the true Diamonds: Purple Diamond (Jin Kirigiri), White Diamond (Junko), and Black Diamond (Mukuro) and other elites, not taken seriously. But some gems, the lower castes, do. And soon there's a rebellion afoot, and the rebels take the name the Crazy Diamonds as a point of pride.
The war happened. White and Black Diamond had some excitement for the first time in their billions of years of existence, watching gems tear into each other rather than the unstoppable conquest of lesser species that they're used to. Meanwhile, Purple Diamond heads The Cluster (Izuru) Project as a direct response to the rebels and as a sort of propaganda tool (as if to say, "You want to see a gem that goes beyond your station? This abomination what you get when you go beyond your station").
He sends down the completed Cluster to end the war. Mondo overestimates what he can handle and tries fighting the thing, but Daiya gets him out of the way and takes the hit for him. Daiya gets corrupted in an instant because Cluster has a chaotic mess of powers. Then Cluster starts pulsing, getting ready for a full on nuclear blast of corruption. Mondo and Tashmarine (Takemichi) are the only survivors, using Tashmarine's flag as cover.
They spend their days afterwards finding and containing the rest of the Crazy Diamonds, hoping somehow, someway, someday they can cure them. Daiya is kept out and about because he is pretty tame, apparently having some residual memories of Mondo and Tashmarine, and because Mondo wouldn't have the heart to poof him anyway. He's very dog-liked, which is why Mondo develops such a love for the species besides just thinking they're cute.
Daiya, like other corrupted gems, enjoys to eat despite not needing to. And the Crazy Diamonds don't really have a concept of currency so they just steal him stuff to eat. One night, Takaaki is called to catch the shoplifters. Standard fare for him. Things escalate with Mondo like they always do and soon he lunges at Takaaki with his weapon, knuckledusters. In the face of an imminent and possibly deadly assault Takaaki shoots him in the foot, but since he's a gem he just poofs and Takaaki is like "???". Nobody at the station believes him when he tries to take a literal rock into custody so he just brings it home, convincing himself for his sanity's sake that this kid who disappeared in a puff of smoke right in front of him was some kind of criminal street magician or some shit. He gives the gem to Taka as a paperweight and one night while doing his homework Mondo reforms and there's just... so much yelling all around.
Kiyotaka, unknowingly, is half-gem. His mother was a conch pearl. She wasn't a rebel (because he has enough baggage on his paternal side already, he doesn't need a Rose Quartz situation on top of it), but she fled to Earth over Era 2 and pretended to be human because she passed really well. He and his family just thought the gem Taka inherited from her was a weird growth until Mondo pointed out that it was a gem.
Meanwhile, back on Homeworld, White Diamond starts a coup with her sister Black Diamond. Now in power, they force all gems to battle to the death to gain status. After two millennia, Purple Diamond gathers gems of varying classes, rejuvenates them to weed out descentors, and bubbles them before he sets out for a new place to restart the empire on the other side of the universe. However, something goes wrong and the ship ends up crashing in regular human Makoto Naegi's backyard, Purple Diamond shattering in the crash. One by one he ends up unbubbling them (the rest of this version of Class 78) and helps them adjust to Earth life.
HPA isn't a thing in this AU and Makoto and Kiyotaka attend the same, normal high school. And pretty soon they notice each other's technicolor companions and they're like, pointing Spider-Man meme at one another.
So that was extremely long, but that’s what I have!

200 Followers Contest!
first of all, thank you to everyone following me! I’m so glad you guys enjoy my artwork!
And secondly, I’m going to be hosting a similar contest to the one I hosted when I had 100 followers!
This time around, you’re gonna be drawing Diopsides based off mine!
I’ve sketched out a guide for these gems, so it’ll be a bit easier.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As you may or may not know, Diopsides are common pilot gems. They are built specifically for that purpose, and any that can’t fly effectively are usually harvested. Sometimes they’re allowed to go free, relatively unscathed, but it’s a little rare.
as with last time, reblog or leave a comment and tell me if you’re going to enter! Once you’ve drawn your diopside gemsona, either tag me once you post them, or reblog this post with a picture of your character!
The prizes will be:
1st Place: A drawing of the character you drew for the contest, and a drawing of a scene (either with gemsonas, canon gems, starfox characters, etc.)
2nd Place: A drawing of the character you drew for the contest, and a fusion of your gemsona and mine.
3rd Place: A drawing of the character you drew for the contest, and a gemsona of your choice.
4th Place: Just a drawing of the character you drew for the contest.
Get creative and have fun! There are plenty of interesting diopsides (Chrome, Star, Violane, Tashmarine, etc.) to choose from, and I can’t wait to see what you come up with!
The deadline is October 13th, so there’s plenty of time.

SPECIAL EARRINGS FOR VERY SPECIAL CEREMONY
Special opal necklaces, opal earrings, opal rings that match with your favorite outfit to make yourself attractive to everyone for some very special occasion seems to be a more special festival. Few pieces of jewelry can dress up an outfit for an extra special occasion the way a pair of earrings can. Think about it: If you're wearing a ring but not waving it in front of your face, it might get overlooked. The same could be true of a bracelet. And if you have your back to someone, they likely won't appreciate the fabulous necklace you're wearing. But earrings are right in the line of sight. If someone sees your face, they will see your earrings. In fact, you can see someone's earrings from the front, side, and back. So if you are really dressing up, the right earrings are essential. Some outfits are a bit ahead of the fashion curve, so your jewelry should be, too. The 14K Gold Textured Dangle Earrings, made in Arezzo, Italy, and part of the Stefano Collection are not your mother's dangle earrings. The dangles are actually dozens of loops crafted from small 14-karat gold chains hanging from a delicate French hook. The dangles will move with you, catching the light. Each earring measures 3 1/16 inches long by 3/8 of an inch wide. Because these earrings are part of a collection, you can also get a matching necklace and bracelet to complete the look. The variety of hues in the 14K Mystic or Opal-Colored Topaz stud earrings are sure to catch people's attention. The stones feature a prism of colors not often seen in one stone. The Mystic Topaz has hues of green and purple and the Opal-Colored Topaz features rich pastel colors in an opalized finish. These are genuine topaz stones, many of which are naturally colorless. To add color, Topaz is often coated with a very thin film, such as that used on a camera lens, to create alternate looks. These 5.00ct. stones are set in a 14 karat yellow gold deep basket, which lets the light shine through the stones and helps them stand out from your earlobes. They secure with a butterfly back. Many women often favor an exotic look from India, Pakistan, China, or Sri Lanka when they attend dress-up occasions. You don't need to be from India to appreciate the beauty and elegance of a silk sari. The colors and the fabrics from other countries are among the richest on the scene. But if you opt for exotic clothing, you have to wear earrings with an international flavor - something equally exotic. Start with a pair of dyed red sponge coral drop earrings, adorned with garnets and rubies. They are simple but intricate enough to hold their own with an international outfit. Anchoring the drop earring at the top is a modified fleur-de-lis setting that holds 12 rubies and two garnets. Hanging from the setting are three silver chains that hold the coral drop. Silver and palladium encase the coral drop।
A simple pair of diamond posts are one option, as well as basic pearl earrings. Another look for some outfits might be a pair of Cameo earrings. This vintage-inspired look features two portraits carved from an oval 12mm orange shell. The filigree setting also features four round full-cut 1.75 to 2.00mm orange sapphires. These heirloom earrings are hand-carved, with each layer revealing a different color. Due to the nature of their production, each earring is a one-of-a-kind creation. For something simple, consider a pair of floral filigree earrings with both Blue Topaz and Peridot, set in sterling silver and a center circle of 18 karat gold. They are just less than 2 inches long. Each earring features eight round 3mm Blue Topazes in prong settings and two round 2mm green Peridots in a bezel setting. For something more elaborate, consider four Tashmarine stones set in 14-karat gold drop earrings. Tashmarine is a dusty blue-green stone that needs no artificial enhancements. Each earring has two stones - one round cut 3mm stone, from which an oval cut 4mm stone dangles. The settings are wrought of detailed gold, giving off a very rich look. The earrings measure 7/8 of an inch long by just over ¼ of an inch wide. The total weight of Tashmarine is approximately 1.26ct. Sometimes your outfit is what people are supposed to notice, and the wrong jewelry can only detract from your whole look. If that's the case, go for an understated pair of earrings that will finish your look, but won't draw attention away from the main show. One good option is a pair of 17 to 18mm Cultured Mabe Pearl earrings set in sterling silver. These beautiful pearls from the sea will reflect the light, as well as whatever color you are wearing. Each earring measures ¾ of an inch and closes with omega backs. When you are attending an extra-special occasion, take the time to ensure your earrings are a great addition to your outfit.
