Why do I think Earien will get the plot Miriel had in the books:
1 - In the beginning, we see that Earien is kinda into politics and we also see the start of her relationship with Kemen, who is Pharazon’s son.
2 - There’s a scene with Tar-Palantir, that he thinks she’s Miriel and starts talking to her about the future of Numenor and Earien say something like “I’m not…” and he says something like “you’re not queen yet, but one day you will be”. I actually don’t think he was talking only about Miriel.
3 - Ema, the actress that plays Earien, says that Earien didn’t see anything when she touched the Palantir because she’s afraid of those artifacts. If she doesn’t see it, then she doesn’t know. I can se her trying to redeem herself by helping others, but it might be too late.
4 - Let’s talk about Kemen. He, apparently, wants to be loved and accepted or whatever. He won’t take a “no”. I just know it. I think Earien will realize her mistake and try to back off from this relationship, but he will kinda threaten Isildur, Anarion or Elendil. She will be forced to marry him.
5 - The appendix doesn’t talk about forced marriage. Actually, Miriel isn’t even mentioned by name that much, only once 🤡 the appendix says, about Miriel, that Tar-Palantir had a daughter, she was the last rightful heir to the throne, but Pharazon took the scepter and usurped her crown. It also doesn’t mention her death, only that the city went down. And let’s be fr, her death didn’t even make sense. Earien’s tho, it’s starting to make sense.
6 - Elendil said that Earien’s path was made of seawater and that its a long way to the bottom…
7 - Every action is getting a reaction when it comes to “warnings”. Tar-Palantir warned Miriel about the southlands, saying things about darkness and all…There was also that man who said “The Queen is either blind or an elf lover” and she actually got blind. And is in love with an “elf friend” ✨
It seems strange to me that Eariens actions won’t have a reaction when everyone else is getting 100 reactions to 1 action.
8 - I think there’s something about how Tar-Palantir confused Miriel for Earien. And, when we actually think about it, it’s kinda funny bc Earien is a distant cousin of his who might enter or might be forced to enter on a relationship with a teenage version of Pahrazon.
9 - Pharazon and Miriel aren’t married. In the books, Miriel stay as regent when Pharazon go on his trip to blow up Numenor and when he goes get Sauron. But she was a regent bc they were married and they didn’t have children. He has Kemen. If Kemen marries Earien and goes with Pharazon to Valinor, then Earien would be the closest royal, since Miriel isn’t a queen anymore (to them bc I’m just like Elendil). She would be regent. And let’s be fr, Miriel is trying to avert Numenor’s fall since day one, she keeps trying and trying and no one listens. But Earien isn’t doing it, so I can actually see her getting faith to late and climbing the mountain (I don’t think Miriel will climb anything at all unless she has help, there’s no way she’s getting at the top of that mountain alone)
10 - I think Miriel and Earien will be at good terms by season 3. That woman just proved she loves Elendil, there’s no way Earien will just be hating her for all her life after that.

But how about
(TW Feanorian things: fire, torture, drowning - under the cut)
Maglor in Numenor?
Inspired by "why was Quenya the official language there?" post
Not initially, Osse wouldn't let him probably, but Maglor came a few years later
Because that's as close to home he can go
"no, don't make your son the king, your daughter is older" "shut up, kidnap great-grandpa"
They kept him out of the official history because he's not someone to be proud of, but initially very close to the kings
What if the mysterious remark of Maglor being wed is "I won't mention it to not spoil the history of Numenor but"
Not all elf-human romances are as glorious as B&L, some are just a kinslayer and his wife trying their best
Bonus points if his lineage mixes into one of the important lines (and later, Aragorn!)
Later more and more forced into hiding / disguises
Tar-Palantir invites him to the council again but not officially as an elf of course. Illusions and disguises ftw
Ar-Pharazon doesn't notice it's an elf, because he's an idiot (wise in ways of the world but)
Tar-Miriel knows of course
And then Sauron comes
Maglor runs away into hiding because he's a coward
Isildur find him and begs for help
Major tries to help gets caught by Sauron and it's due to be burned
Sauron doesn't watch him himself because he's busy intriguing
He's too busy angsting about Maedhros (because, you know, the idea of being burned) to escape
Isildur gets him out, or maybe Anarion, let him do something cool too
Runs away into hiding 2
The fleet sets sail
Maglor is conflicted because those guys are being idiots and go too far against the Valar for even a Feanorian to be ok with it, but on the other hand, Sauron
He decides to try again, and (as brilliant idea as it is original) goes and tries to fight Sauron... With singing
Not that that would help now because the fleet is gone already
But I guess he tries anyway
Of course loses and Sauron "has some fun" as he did with his brother
Jest as Sauron is ready to burn Maglor, tsunami
Everything drowns
Maglor finally drowns, as was his fate since long ago but he failed at it before
But
He drowns in the exactly one tsunami in the history that can wash away his idiotic oath
Pun intended
And yes it's idiotic
And no not because he deserves it or smth
But look at me and tell me that Sauron deserved being let free with nothing but an ugly face
So, cut to a visibly confused (sic!) Namo
Yes I'm too sympathetic to characters (unless I'm not) fight me
#tolkien#silmarillion#tolkien legendarium#silm#sauron#maglor#numenor#the fall of Numenor#silm crack#if read this fic#fight me but it was idiotic

the line of elros ♚ royalty of númenor ♚ headcanon disclaimer
Tar-Anárion was the eighth King of Númenor and the only child of Tar-Ancalimë. Unlike his mother, he was of a gentle nature, and preferred to spend his time exercising his body in athletics rather than combatting Tar-Ancalimë’s policies. In the first truly happy royal marriage since Tar-Meneldur and Almarian, Anárion wed the poet Iþiliel and treasured her greatly. Iþiliel bore Anárion three children: two daughters, fraternal twins named Naryalambë and Celussë, and a son, Súrion. Though the new law allowed for the possibility of Naryalambë, the elder twin, to inherit, both of Tar-Ancalimë’s granddaughters disliked and feared the Queen and refused the scepter. For her part, Naryalambë was a hopeless romantic and romance writer who hated her grandmother’s rule against marriage; when she came of age, she ran away from Armenelos with a young mariner, and did not return until Ancalimë’s death. Celussë was less headstrong than her sister, and suffered from a chronic illness that left her bedridden more often than not; Ancalimë was harsh in her words to her, leaving Celussë wishing only for peace and quiet, not the tribulation of rulership. Thus it was that when their father was crowned Tar-Anárion, their younger brother Súrion was named the king’s heir. In time, he would become Tar-Súrion, the ninth King of Númenor.

Rings of Power aka Amazon LOTR
Had a week off and met up with the sibling who queue Rings of Power up on Amazon.
Have to say I didn’t hate it but my god is it a mess in storytelling when it comes to the canon it is supposed to be following.
Cut to hide the spoilers....
Here be spoilers and, wildly inaccurate speculation....
Timeline WTF?!
The Elves seem to be somewhere between 700SA (Eragion built) and 1200SA (creating the rings)
Numenoreans are more 3229 (to let Isildur be 20ish) to pre 3260 (Tar-Palantir is still alive) just before Numenor falls.
No clue as to where the Harfoot timeline might be based on yet.
At one point I was hoping that it would all be a “Gotcha!” moment where the Elendil, who fishes Galadriel out of the sea, and has sons Anarion and Isildur was going to turn out to be a earlier member of the family and the names repeat later as a giant ‘joke’ especially as the sons are in the wrong order but not with all the other Numenorian characters also matching up with the ones at the Fall of Numenor.
Missing Characters
Celeborn - Galadriel’s husband married since First Age. Confirmed missing in Ep7 as he apparently went to war (War of Wrath) at the ed of the FA and was ‘lost’. G has apparently spent x? years (see Timelines WTF?!) hunting down Sauron and orcs for killing her brother but not looking for her possibly alive husband.
Celebrian - Celeborn and Galadriel’s daughter should be born approx 300SA Elronds so could be aged anywhere between 200 and 2900 (also see Timelines WTF?!). Future wife to Elrond
If going for amping up the grief saying her husband and daughter were lost is extra angsty, without that it implies 'I lost my brother and husband and fecked off on a vengeance quest while abandoning my daughter' or she doesn't exist yet if they don’t have her born soon she’s going to end up a child bride to Elrond around the time Elladan and Elrohir are born.
Shitposting theories
Because I’m tired and as the series doesn’t make sense neither do my thoeries have to.
1 So timeline is F*cked and I can’t make sense of it maybe Galadriel fell through a time warp out at sea somewhere jumped forward 2500yrs and the Elf and Numenor stores are not happening in the same time (will be Jossed on Friday) and in 3255ish there are 2 versions of her running around ME.
TBH as Numenorian’s re-establish contact in 600SA they could have had her encouraging that to get back home and left the Miriel/Elendil/Isildur to later seasons where it might make a bit of sense
2 Mithril to cure the Elves.
Sibling: what are they going to make pills out go it.
Me: (eyeing the shape of it) looks more like a suppository to me...
Celebrimbor in the pics released for EP8 certainly looks like he might have a nasty surprise inserted somewhere he didn’t want it.
3 Celeborn and Celebrian are somewhere waiting for Galadriel to come home either she’d set out just before he came home and the letters keep getting lost in the post and since someone has to watch the kid, he became SAHD and Galadriel in her PTSD is ignoring or has forgotten she has a kids back home or we MPreg it and like seahorses the male elves are the ones that carry the kids and Galadriel doesn’t yet know she has a daughter.....

Impossible LotR Quiz Answer sheet with explanations!
As an addendum, since people have been doing the quiz I’ve seen a few mistypes and awkwardnesses that are my own fault so I’ve corrected them. This means some people got a higher score than was shown, know that when I looked over your answers I saw your actually right answers and fully appreciated them! It’s good to not that the ‘fill in the blanks’ questions will not take two words in one space, so I’ve had to get creative with how I apply two named folk like Mardil Voronwe, or people who have numbers like Hurin I.
I would also like to say, to everyone talking about how they’ve never read the Silmarillion, this quiz is very purposefully almost entirely based outside of the Silmarillion. This is Appendices stuff! Indeed there is only 1 question even tangentally related to elves in here, this is by design.
@magaramach, @brynnmclean and @apojiiislands asked to be tagged in this! Answers under the cut.
Q2. Who was Dora Baggins in relation to Bilbo Baggins? - Second cousin on his father's side Dora Baggins is a very elderly woman who was the daughter of Bilbo’s father’s brother. She likes writing people a lot of unsolicited advice! THIS WAS WRONG AND SAID FIRST COUSIN FOR SO LONG AND I AM DEEPLY SORRY FOR IT.
Q3. How many pairs of biological twins are mentioned in the whole of Arda's timeline and what races do they belong too? - 2 for men, 1 for elves and 3 for half-elves Fastred and Folcred, Haleth and Haldar (men) Amrod and Amras (elves) Elured and Elurin, Elrond and Elros, Elladan and Elrohir (half-elves) Now, admittedly Elladan and Elrohir are never actually described as twins. However they appear completely identical and have the same birth date, so it is assumed.
Q4. Baldor is who the skeleton scratching at the door used to be. When Aragorn and co pass through the paths of the dead they find a skeleton clawing at a door to the mountain. It is finely dressed and described as mighty and was later essentially confirmed to be Baldor, the eldest son of King Brego of Rohan, also called Baldor the hapless, who foolishly wandered into the paths of the dead on, apparently, a dare. (the answer to this was originally Brego because of a foolish typo from me, many apologies!)
Q5. When was the Ondonóre Nómesseron Minaþurie written? - During Meneldil's reign. “Enquiry into the Place-names of Gondor” was a text written by settled numenoreans about their new kingdom during Meneldil’s reign, who was the first sole King of Gondor after both Anarion (his father) and Isildur had perished.
Q6. Farmer Maggot's particular friend was Tom Bombadil It is stated that Farmer Maggot sometimes peacefully passes through the Old Forest to go and meet Tom Bombadil, who very much enjoys his company. However! Those who answered Merry or Pippin still deserve excellent recognition, Farmer Maggot was indeed fond of Pippin and respected Merry greatly.
Q7. What was the office of the Steward originally created to do? - Keep the Tradition of Isildur When Romendacil I went to war in the east, he realised that if he died then the secret of the Tradition of Isildur would die with him. Hence he wrote it down in a sealed scoll and gave it to a trusted confidante, to be given to his heir if he should perish. This tradition was maintained by further kings and those trusted confidantes became the Stewards of Gondor. This, admittedly, is a more suggested progression than explicit, but it’s a Impossible evil quiz so :) Q8. What was the 'Tradition of Isildur'? - Remember where Elendil was buried. Elendil had been secretly entombed in Calenardhon, supposedly the midpoint between Gondor and Arnor. This was a hallowed space for only Kings at first, but in later years when the Stewards came to rule Gondor they also were permitted the secret. Cirion had the remains moved when Calenardhon was gifted to the Eotheod to eventually become a part of the Kingdom of Rohan.
Q9. At the time of Pelargir's founding, is the world flat or round? - Flat. Pelargir was founded as a ‘Faithful Numenorean’ haven on the river Anduin. Therefore it was built before Numenor’s destruction in the Akallabeth, the reason for which being that Eru turned the world from flat to round.
Q10. Which of these monarchs were indolent and had no interest in ruling? - King Atanatar I - King Narmacil I - Tar-Vanimelde King Atanatar I ruled during Gondor’s richest generation and seemed to believe that meant he didn’t need to put any work in. Narmacil I, his son, didn’t want to put any work in, but he at least assigned his nephew, Minalcar, as ‘Karma-Kundo’ or regent during his reign. So he at least did something to keep the country going. Tar-Vanimelde had no interest in ruling and allowed her husband to do most of the governence. This backfired when she died and he organised a coup against his son to hold power.
Q11. When looking back on the Ship-Kings of Gondor, King Tarannon Falastur began the invasion of Harad and expanded Gondor's borders, King Earnil-I finally took Umbar but died at sea shortly afterwards, King Ciryandil spent most of his reign trying to defend Umbar and died in it's seige and King Hyarmendacil defended Umbar against seiges for 35 years before making war upon all Harad and claiming Harondor as a province of Gondor, ending the line of the Ship Kings.
Q12. What happened during the reign of King Romendacil II? - I don't know! Nothing? Yes I know this is particularly evil of me but Romendacil II was originally called Minalcar, yes the same Minalcar who became REGENT of Gondor due to Narmacil’s indolent nature. Minalcar indeed did everything else listed as answers to this question, but none of them happened during his reign as king. Indeed, his reign was said to be peaceful and we have no real information on it, so technically saying we don’t know, and suggesting nothing happened, is actually the most correct answer :)
Q13. Who succeeded Tar-Telperien of Numenor? - Her nephew, Minastir Tar-Telperien was a lesbian Queen of Numenor who never married and never wanted too and did an excellent job and I love her. Her nephew built a tower to mope in about how much he wanted to be an elf. They are not the same. Absolutely terrified about what Amazon could do to her.
Q14. Whilst his brethren, the nazgul, were attacking the Prancing Pony, The Witch-King was waiting in the Barrow Downs and probably had a really nice time. Not much to this! Witch King was chilling with the Barrow Wights.
Q15. Which of these characters are described as 'beautiful' at least once in the Lord of the Rings? - Galadriel, Denethor, Eowyn, Frodo, Elanor, Celeborn, Boromir Yes, Arwen is never described as beautiful, but Denethor is :)
Q16. We all love Boromir II, select the similarities he and Boromir I did NOT share. - Renowned relationship with the Rohirrim. - Destroyed the Bridge of Osgiliath - Feared by the Witch King - Retook Ithilien. - Had a brother. In case you’re wondering, yes, I love both Boromirs. But this question is a fun highlight of how many similarities Boromir II has with his namesake. These are the only things they didn’t both do. Although! Boromir I’s son was Cirion who allied with the Eotheod and created Rohan in the first place, the Uruk-Hai destroyed the Bridge of Osgiliath in Boromir I’s lifetime, Boromir II was PROBABLY feared by the witch-king we just don’t know, Boromir II held Ithilien and Boromir I had two elder sisters like Denethor II did.
Q17. Hey, did you know that, from Boromir I's war with the Uruk-Hai of the Morgul Vale, Gondor didn't know peace until Sauron's death on the 25th of March, 3019? Hah hah! How gut wrenching is that? About how long do you think it has been since Gondor knew peace then? Hey wait does that mean Boromir I's valiant victory that came at a personal sacrifice was the beginning of Gondor's wars and then Boromir II's valiant sacrifice was the end- oh god... oh fuck - 550 years To everyone who answered the crossed out answer,,, you’re correct in my heart. You get bonus points. Also hey! What the fuck :)
Q18. Who was Borondir? - The rider sent to find Eorl who made it to him after starving himself for two days but who then rode to the Celebrant with Eorl anyway and died in that battle. Literally couldn’t love this fellow more. Big Hirgon energy. A hero of Gondor for time immemorial.
Q19. The Ruling Stewards, from first to last (with their numbers typed as so Turin-I Hurin-II etc), were as follows; Mardil ; Eradan ; Herion ; Belegorn ; Hurin-I ; Turin-I ; Hador ; Barahir ; Dior ; Denethor-I ; Boromir-I ; Cirion ; Hallas ; Hurin-II ; Belecthor-I ; Orodreth ; Ecthelion-I ; Egalmoth ; Beren ; Beregond ; Belecthor-II ; Thorondir ; Turin-II ; Turgon ; Ecthelion-II ; Denethor-II ; and for like two seconds ; Faramir ; Alrighty, we had a bit of a fight in my discord about this but eventually I did relent in agreement that Faramir IS... very briefly... legally considered a RULING Steward. Ruling Stewards being Stewards that ruled a Kingless Gondor. But! With Aragorn RIGHT THERE is just seemed very redundant. Still! I’ll allow the pedant to win out, ten minutes is still a Ruling Steward. ALSO! I decided that having an extra box for the ‘voronwe’ part of mardil voronwe was just mean as it set everyone’s answers off kilter, so I removed that. ALSO for all of those calling me a bastard for adding this question, @illegalstargender was the one who requested it! I wasn’t going too!
Q20. The Stewards, despite ruling through very tumultuous and violent periods, were often known for boring things (because they simply ruled better than the Kings did, I said what I said) But what boring thing was Steward Turin I remembered for? - Being the only monarch of Gondor that married twice This skeezy bastard really did marry a second time during his OLD age just to father a son. I can only imagine what a dreadful cultural and social effect this had on this prude country. It’s so unnecessary! He had daughters, many of them! One of them certainly had a son before he did. He was just being a controlling arse, down with Turin I!!!!

Gendered Names in Elvish
I think I can at least help a little. Of course, this isn’t a universal rule, but many of the names Tolkien uses include words in the character’s language that provide a clue to their gender. Again, this wouldn’t help with every name, but you can at least make things a bit simpler. Below I’ve compiled a list (well, a couple lists, separated by languages) that include the common name components of the elvish languages that can help you and your friend quickly distinguish between male and female names.
SINDARIN - FEMALE
* “-eth”, “-el”, and “-il” are basic feminine suffixes.
* “-ien” and “-iel” are suffixes that mean “daughter of.” For example, “Luthien” or “Galadriel”
* “-ril” and “dis” mean “female doer."
* ”gwen“ means ”maiden, virgin.“ For example, "Arwen.”
* “neth” and “dess” mean “young woman."
* ”bereth“ means ”queen.“ For example, "Elbereth.”
SINDARIN - MALE
* “-on” is a basic masculine suffix. For example, “Daeron.”
* “-ion” is a suffix that means “son of.” For example, “Ecthelion.”
* “-ron” and “dir” mean “male doer.” For example, “Brandir.”
* “aran” means “king.” For example, “Aragorn.”
* “hir” means “master/lord.” For example, “Barahir.”
QUENYA - FEMALE
* “-ie” and “-ien” are general female suffixes. For example, “Amarie” and “Arien.”
* “-e”, “-isse”, “-inde”, “-lle”, “-me”, and “-re” mean “female doer.” For example, “Irisse,” “Serinde,” or “Ilmare.”
* “wende” means “girl/maiden.” For example, “Nerwende.”
* “nisse” or “nis” means “woman.” For example, “Artanis”
* “yelde” or “-iel” means “daughter.” For example, “Miriel”
* “tari” means “queen.” For example, “Elentari.”
QUENYA - MALE
* “-on” is a general masculine suffix. For example, “Ancalagon.”
* “-o”, “-no”, “-indo”, “-mo”, and “-ro” mean “male doer.” For example, “Maitimo,” “Turindo,” or “Feanaro.”
* “-ion” means “son of.” For example, “Anarion.”
* “tar” means “lord.” For example, “Annatar.”
These lists aren’t perfect, of course, but they should help move things along. If you’re working with another language (say, Adunaic, or Rohirric), my advice would be to look a particular character up on a website like Tolkien Gateway. Their profile will include a section on “Etymology”, which basically breaks down the meaning of their name. If you’re lucky, you’ll find similar gender cues in these names as well.
SOURCES: A ton of Tolkien Gateway pages, looking at the etymology of several names. Also realelvish.net, which includes several helpful pages on names in several of Tolkien’s languages.

[ID: An edit for Adunaphel from the Tolkien legendarium. It consists of four pictures mainly in red. Here’s what they show:
A woman with light skin and dark hair in a red dress. Teyt on this image reads “Adunaphel the quiet, daughter of Tar-Anarion”
Someone wearing a red robe, lying down. One of their hands rests of their chest, the other on their belly, both hands have rings on the middle finger
Red rose petals spilling from a golden cup
A crown in front of a red curtain. Text on this image reads “Adunaphel the quiet, seventh of the nine”
End ID]
adûnaphel the quiet
Adûnaphel is unusual among the Nine, as supposedly the only woman to have accepted a Ring of Power from the Dark Lord Sauron. Great value did she place in power, beauty, and wealth, which she feared losing. Upon her flight from Númenórë, she rejected her birthname Númeniel in favour of Adûnaphel. Her father demanded she return home, and marry the man of his choosing, but she refused and only fought with Númenórë for control. Much later on, she grew close in friendship with her compatriot from the Far East, Khamûl, and they would remain allies throughout the Second and Third Ages.
