Bsd Prediction // Why I think Ango will be the next Mafia boss

I already imagined the context in which it could happen :

Taneda and Mori have been planning this deal for a long time (about five years ago), that Ango would end up being Mori's successor

Let's imagine that all the bullshit with the Hunting Dogs, DOA stops, the arc ends

Taneda is still in coma, but he made a deal with Mori just before :

(Yes I know Yosano's ability exists but fuck that)

If Higuchi uses her ability to wake him up (because I'm sure Taneda knew in advance that he was going to fall in coma (my theory) and I have the headcanon that Higuchi has a healing ability or like Eri in BNHA, a rewind shit) then Ango leaves the Special Division to join the Mafia

Because I think that after all this mess, Mori will retire in Berlin, living his best life with Elise by his side

And Ango deserves a better salary, more power, more time to sleep and certainly a more intellectually rewarding job with the assurance of not dying every second.

He hates betrayal so of course he is ready to be the head of the Mafia (he already worked for it, knows a lot of confidential information, Dazai has no chance to come back to the PM, and Ango knows exactly how his future enemy "ADA" "Special Division" works, + he will be able to have his personal revenge with Chuuya as a subordinate faithful to his orders)

Like the 18 year age gap between Taneda and Melville is kind of concerning but idk, it has good crack fic potentially. However, I have too many drafts so is anyone wnats to write this go right ahead.

I love how people are always calling Fukumori old men when they're not even 50, like they're not that old (especially when you think about Taneda, Hirotsu and Melville) It just amuses me, idk why.

We finally found out what Fyodor's skill is.... after A LOT.......

But here I am. Rubbing it in.

We could have figured it all out SO MUCH sooner had Fyodor used his skill around this man.

So if Fyodor had used his skill around this man, the same would count.

First off, Fyodor would very likely already have taken precautions for something like this.(we know the guy--)) AND they would have needed Taneda to be close to Fyodor, which is a feat in itself.

SECOND off, Taneda can only do this if someone INVOKES their skill near him, so not only would they have to get him close, but Fyodor would also have to die for his skill to activate (from what we have seen so far, I assume that's the only time his skill really activates.) and at that point, it's pretty clear already what his skill is anyway.

And how could they even have known? They thought his ability was activated by touch at first.

Meaning the only chance would be to keep Taneda near Fyodor for a longer time until Fyodor hopefully would use his skill. A pretty hopeless situation already.

Perhaps that's why it was never even brought up?

So yeah, it doesn't really matter much now, and this is really leading nowhere. Take it as rambling and perhaps some interesting WHAT IFs ~

👻 Oguri Mushitarou is using his ability to destroy evidence of BSD Cast's crimes.

Oguri will tell you about occult practices. Will offer you to use some of them to make something nasty happen to people of Teyvat.

⌚ André Gide is helping Hunting Dogs in dealing with official organizations. If needed, he will attack patrols.

He is acting as your bodyguard. Will offer to read to you.

🐉🍎🍏 Tatsuhiko Shibusawa is using abilities from his collection to cause harm/apply damage to anything/anyone he can from Teyvat.

Shibusawa will bring ability crystals, that you might find useful, to you. Will let you do whatever you want with his hair.

🐈‍⬛ Natsume Soseki will join "The Steambird" to keep a track on Teyvat's news. He will spy on people in his cat form, to find dirt on any important figure he can find. Will publish found information in the newspaper.

He will read books to you. He will also become your moral support cat.

🤖 Adam Frankenstein is on a rescue mission to transport people, who helped you, from Teyvat to the real world. Working as a lie detector, if BSD Vast capture someone

Adam will talk to you about everything, starting from the animals and ending with space.

👧🏻 Aya Koda is staying with you and act as a moral support. If needed, she will act as a spy to gather information about Fake Creator.

🚸 Oda's kids are always trying to include you in their games. They will draw pictures for you. Sakura, Kousuke, Shinji, Yu and Katsumi, same as Aya, are ready to do some spying on Fake Creator, because, as kids, they have more chances to get close to them.

What would fyodor think about sk darling?

hahahaha i was hoping someone would ask this...

fyodor is intrigued by you. he knows, of course, that there was a serial killer on the loose taking the lives of multiple ability users, including some that he recognized. it was interesting enough that your target appeared to be only ability users, but when he finds out that nikolai has a connection to you...well, now he just had to find out more.

your ability is also quite curious; needing you to kill someone to steal their ability, hence implying that abilities could be transferred. of course, since his ability was intertwined with himself, he was curious as to whether you were able to take his ability.

seeing nikolai follow you around like a lovesick puppy is what convinces him to start watching you.

he knows you're aware of nikolai (he expected that from you—was this warm feeling in his chest pride?) and his ability, as well as his extensive criminal record. it doesn't deter you from trying to run off with his ability, however, and neither does your initial defeat. he watches as you walk away without your gun and with a glove instead, watches as you get back to plotting. fyodor finds it all quite amusing.

as a reward for entertaining him, he drops a parcel on your doorstep with your gun in it. the only other thing there is a message written on a simple card attached to it—santouka taneda's ability may prove to be very useful. he knows that you already knew this, but he was just curious about whether his message would cause you to change your plans and target taneda instead.

it doesn't.

you're very meticulous in the way you go about your plans, and clearly an anonymous message won't get in the way of that. you don't even ask nikolai about the note, which could only mean you knew it wasn't him who had sent it to you. instead, you approach fyodor himself one day when he was walking into a cafe.

"dostoevsky," you say, your smile so unassuming that he'd have never thought you were capable of the evil acts you had committed, "i'll kindly ask you to please stay out of my business."

for a moment, he's caught off guard. and then it comes crashing down on him—you had ango's ability. that's how you knew it was him.

he smiles back, just as fabricated as yours, "please," he takes a seat across you, "i only meant to offer some friendly advice."

you raise an eyebrow, "friendly? do you always use your friends as pawns to eliminate your enemies? or am i just special?"

"we have a common goal," he instead says, "concerning the eradication of ability users."

you scoff at that, "you clearly know nothing about me. i'm not doing this for the same reasons as you."

your eyes are void of emotion, and your hand is gripping the fork on the table—an obvious threat. for the first time in a while, fyodor finds a genuine smile replacing the fake one from before, "in that case, why don't you tell me about your reasons? we may be able to cooperate on certain matters."

you can say no and leave. after all, fyodor is asking you to help him kill off some ability users that can become problems later, and he knows you don't have to say yes. you can decide that you don't want to get involved and walk away, and he can't do anything about it. holding a stranger hostage wouldn't cause you to surrender yourself, nor would a threat to your life. there's nothing forcing you to stay, but you don't leave anyway. instead, you let your polite facade drop, an unreadable expression taking its place.

"alright," even your voice, he realizes, sounds cold and blank now. it only makes him more curious, "but i have one condition."

"nobody touches nikolai gogol. i'll do with him as i please, so don't involve him in your plan. if you can do this for me, i'll hear you out."

By reading the incredible post of iwritenarrativesandstuff I was able to imagine a possible backstory for Ango (not related at all lmao but reading your post inspired me)

This backstory is slighty inspired by real life events of the author

So we are in the small village of Niigata, an extremely superstitious village, Ango the youngest boy of the family lives with his 12 brothers and sisters.

However he is hated by his mother because he is a very strong disruptive element and does nothing but mischief (stealing, fighting)

So in a fit of rage, convinced that her son brings bad luck, his mother decides to send him to the village temple hoping that her son will become wiser.

The temple is located at the top of the mountain, Ango at 9 years old, finds himself without anyone and without any distraction.

He spends his days listening to the prayers and teachings of the monks and thanks to his memory, manages to learn them by heart.

He is extremely unhappy, and his already bad vision worsens.

The monks are convinced that young Ango is unable to read because he is blind (they assumed that the young boy was sent here due to his disability) when in truth he just needs glasses.

Ango during this time develops his ability, the only means of distraction he has, he reads the memories of the temple, statues, vases, everything he can get his hands on.

The monks realize that the young boy has powers, and are convinced that he has been sent by the gods.

Ango spends his days reciting sutras and prayers by heart, so much so that he feels neither hunger nor sleep, and thus often collapses from fatigue and regularly suffers from high fever.

And several times a day, the inhabitants of the village visit the boy to ask him for services of his divine powers (lost object, forgotten memory etc..)

This masquerade lasted more than two years.

The stories of the religion made Ango's imagination work, when only loneliness accompanied him.

At the same time, Taneda Santouka, having heard about the story of a young monk who could "read the past" and being curious, decided to visit him (insisting that Natsume Soseki should accompany him because he was convinced that "this little boy must be an ability user").

The two men arrive in the temple and see the young boy now eleven years old, he recites sacred words with closed eyes, very long black hair, he has almost the appearance of a doll.

He is skinny, dark circles around the eyes, and seems unperturbed by the presence of the two strangers.

Taneda tries to talk to the young boy but gets no answer, so he decides to put his glasses on Ango's nose.

Ango opens his eyes, and miracle, is finally able to see the face of his interlocutor, the world is no longer composed of blurred spots (parallel with Ranpo yk)

Ango collapses in tears.

Taneda takes the boy with him, and asks him what he wants.

Ango wants to read, Ango has always wanted to read and now he was finally able to.

PART FIVE: Candor (The Honest)

(A/N: I put some info from the wiki fandom for people who haven't read the books or watched the films.)

– Candor

Candor members value honesty, above all else. A member of Candor can be recognized from their black and white clothing, a visual representation of the black-and-white they see in truth. Through the years, the Candor faction provided the people with trustworthy and sound leaders in law. They are very truthful, sometimes to the point of being tactless. The Candor initiation utilises lie detectors tests and truth serum: initiates are placed in front of all those in the faction and are asked deeply personal questions. They believe that charm is unnecessary, and politeness is deception in pretty packaging. Candor acts according to the idea that if the person reveals all his secrets, he has no desire to lie about anything because the worst is already in the open. Although Candor values honesty the most, they also seek to develop impartiality. (The term "Candor" roots from the word "Candid." The name is a Latin word meaning to shine; be white.)

Traits

The Candor is the Trustworthy faction; honesty comes first with most of all and can read lies from body language/Actions. They value honesty and order, even if the truth is painful, and they wish they wouldn't. They shake their hands to greet one another, and for the males, they make wild gestures while arguing, showing they are good-natured while doing so. Candor is also allowed to keep pets. They will be straight and honest with the person with no manipulations. They are sound leaders. They believe that charm is genuinely unnecessary and politeness is deception. No one must keep any secrets, and are punished for dishonesty.

Relationship between BSD Cast and Reader are poly, with a lot of discussion.

When it became clear, that BSD Cast and Reader feel something more, than platonic feelings towards each other, they sat down and discuss the situation.

At the end, they decide to give it a try and take it as slow as it need.

For now, there wasn't any 'I love you', for now, but, there are dates, hugs, cuddles and kisses. And discussion, of what everyone can and can't do.

BSD Cast and Reader do their best to make this relationship comfortable and good for everyone.

A lot of the credit for that goes to @originalaccountname but BASICALLY:

Ango mentions a "seventh" organization that works in the shadows, that aparently was responsible for erasing Dazai's reccord.

One big theme in BSD is that access to information, above everything else, is what can beat any strategy. This organization seems to not just have access to information, but is actively controling it, meaning that it is extrememly powerful, and would be hard for even Dazai to go up against, because Dazai relies on having more info than the oponent, be it through observation or good old-fashioned breaking and entering.

Now, another big theme in BSD is that of human sacrifice, and the morality of it. The main message is "it's bad". It's why Mori is considered a true evil, what sets apart Dazai and Dostoyevsky, and what each character, in one way or another, struggles with. Characters who recognize the value of human life are uplifted, while characters who value ideas, say, government or organization or world peace or the like over human life are criticized. Oda's message to Dazai was to "save people".

And here comes Chief Taneda:

Someone who, we learn, does not value human lives as individuals, but rather as something to be quantified. If it's for the "greater good", he'll kill people that don't deserve it. It's why Ango doesn't trust him!

Now, if you would have picked any of the known characters to be part of this shady organization, who would it be? Plus, imagine the sheer power of someone who had Dazai's crimes erased and had him join the agency for some completely ulterior motive, for a plan that even Dazai couldn't predict. Dostoyevsky is supposed to be as smart as Dazai, but he's kind of losing to Dazai right now, and if we're gonna talk end-game mastermind villain, I would bet on the guy who managed to manipulate Dazai into doing something he thought was of his own volition.
