the people in the world trigger fandom that legit piss me off are the anime dude-bros on tiktok who trash on osamu for “being weak” and then proceed to ignore his whole character. Like just admit that you only want some overpowered bullshit and move on. Also, if you seriously think that osamu doesn’t improve you’re legit NOT PAYING ATTENTION. However, many of these dudes are dropping WT bc of this, which is a relief. We for real don’t need that in this fandom lmao.

Last year I drew this piece to celebrate World Trigger being officially published in Viet Nam!!! I love my kids and I hope to see more of them in Vietnamese!!! I'm so happy!!!!

Just rereaded chapter 248 of World Trigger again because there was no update this month and I came to a new realization about Osamu.

It was Hyuse's "...Osamu and his ilk are almost too unique" and Mikumo's "Think up a bunch of cheese tactcs to annoy the enemy into submission!" when they were explaining why Rokurō could be a good instructor in the future.

In the last time I only focused on the Rokurō's strength, Hyuse's explanation because I have been wondering that question too! But this time this sentence hit me hard as I realized Osamu has come a long way to this day. And the captain of number #2 B-rank squad is not just an ordinary person.

From the start of the anime, Mikumo was sort of an annoying character who was weak with a hero complex. If it were Kuga, who had the strength, wanted to save people, it might be a more lovable character design. But in an action series, being weak CAN BE considered as A CRIME. It's not hard to find those old comments about how frustrated they felt when watching Osamu.

My point is, my first impression of Osamu is only slightly better than those comments, but that because I was recommended strongly by my friend and not because I thought Osamu would have one of the best development. I actually quite like Osamu at the beginning too, because I'm weak for hero-type character.

But now thinking back, Osamu is a weird one at the beginning. He didn't save people because he thought they need saving, but more because he thought that something he should do. Other than that, he seems like all the typical hero characters with his selflessness and humble nature.

But in the Aftokrator Arcs? That's when I knew I was wrong about my assumptions. Apart from how crazy his action was, y'know risking his life to protect a FAKE cube, to achieve his goal of saving Chika. This is another worm I would love to dwell in on another post. I was shell-shocked to know Osamu had tried to break in the Border with pliers because he didn't satisfy with hia result. FOR WHAT? What are you even gonna do? Negotiating with the higher-ups?

There are actually many theories about what Osamu did, because as we all know, he DID become a member. But that's aside, I had the secondhand embarrassment when I watched what he did on the press conference. All of this is NOT what I expected about Osamu!!! It's exactly like a comment I saw on YT "He knew the rules, it's just to him his rules are first". And while it's completely far from I expected, somehow I didn't feel a single bit out of character, that's just the author's talent.

And in the Rank War Arcs, Osamu did bring his role as a strategy character to a new high-level if you thought about what their team had achieved. Even though Tamakoma-2 was nothing like a typical newbie squad, but still Osamu's effort is nothing to sneeze at. But do you know what's even better? That's us, the readers, normally don't feel like Osamu is that extraordinary or a super talented individual.

Until Hyuse pointed out how not everyone could repeat Osamu's actions, I always believed Osamu is a character who can be considered as normal type, except he also has good tactic-thinking. I mean, woah, completely caught me off. It was because the author had described Osamu's thinking process in detailed, there were no sudden buff-up training arcs, only hard work and determination, no friendship power, except you count Osamu's motivation.

And considering how Osamu had no exceptional background, his development is more impressive. He came from a weak character who would receive more critics than praises, to an outstanding character. He's not an overpowered opponent but the type if you left him alone, he would cause serious damage to your team.

Now the closed-environment phrase in manga Osamu is cooking hard, showing what he had learned in their squad's resuls. And better yet, his tricks always strive as a one-time trick, or even something anyone can come up with. But there is Hyuse, or rather the author, confirm that's no. Not everyone could continuously come up with effective strategies like Osamu. That was his own fighting way. And the developing process was so convincing that I, myself, didn't realize how far he had gone.

That's my thoughts from exactly a manga panels lol.

the beauty of the b rank wars arc is how it completely goes full circle

obviously, one of the more blatant full circle moments is tamakoma-2 basically doing a revenge match against ninomiya's squad

but here's something even more poetic: the way tamakoma-2 finish their first b rank war match is literally the same way they beat their last one:

with osamu making the final blow from behind (with a shooter trigger too!).

I made a thing! well, three things actually, but they're here and ready to go! in preparation for my World Trigger fanfic, I created a stats page, character traits page, and a rankings page, mostly so I know where teams stand for the chapters (whenever I get to writing that is)

Welcome to Bonchi Rice Crackers Club #2 (Hyuse ver.)

Pairing/Characters: HyuJin? haha more like HyuBonchi Hyuse | Kyosuke Karasuma (Torimaru) | Jin Yuichi Summary: Same premise as Welcome to Bonchiage Club but instead of Yuma, it’s Hyuse. Hyuse finds a deserted pack of Bonchiage at the dorm without knowing whose the snack is. Note: Headcanons that Hyuse enjoys it. Also, y’all might wanna check out this tweet from 2020

Hyuse was lounging in the common area of Tamakoma Branch, flipping through some mission reports when his eyes landed on an unfamiliar snack pack sitting on the table. It was a lone bag of Bonchiage, probably left behind by someone.

“Hmph, might as well,” he muttered, grabbing the pack and tearing it open. He popped a few rice crackers into his mouth, and to his surprise, he found the crispy, savory flavor to be rather pleasant. He finished the pack without a second thought, mentally noting to look for more of those snacks later.

Just then, Torimaru wandered in, catching sight of the empty Bonchiage pack in Hyuse’s hand.

“Oh, you tried Jin-san’s favorite snack, huh?” Torimaru said with a grin. “He practically lives off those things.”

Hyuse froze mid-motion, his eyes widening in disbelief. “Jin? You mean Yūichi Jin? He eats this… stuff?”

Torimaru laughed. “Yeah, it’s his thing. He’s got boxes of those in his room. Didn’t you know?”

A horrified expression crept across Hyuse’s face. He stared down at the empty pack as if it had just turned to poison in his hands. “No way… There’s no way I share the same taste as that guy. This—this is unacceptable!”

He immediately got up and tossed the empty pack into the trash with a look of utter disgust. “I refuse to ever eat this again,” he declared, almost gagging at the thought. “I cannot believe I just enjoyed something that man eats every day.”

Torimaru, still chuckling, patted Hyuse on the back. “Well, now you know. Welcome to the Jin Bonchiage fan club.”

Hyuse grimaced. “Over my dead body.”

Yuma Kuga

The guy is a menace! After Osamu showed him tickling he had been A strong opponent due to his strength and use of words he’d definitely make snarky remarks about his Lee and fluster them to no end thanks to Osamu who had shown him some very evil tricks and some Yuma has from Jin.

As a Lee I feel like he’d be squirming all over the place but after you crack him and the laughter starts flowing out of him he’s a goner! His worst spot would be something like the back of his knee and spine, third worst would probably be his shin- he’s his shin you read correctly, it’s an underrated spot just like the arms but soft scribbled got one weakening in seconds!

Aside from these Yuma knows the most about Hyuse- yet it’s also the other way around so when these two are having a Tickle fight anyone that’s around should flee as soon as possible or they might be next!

Chika Amatori

Chika girl was the second to know about Hyuse and Yuma being ticklish when she had accidentally found them sparring in the training rooms.

The girl is an evil ler, her usual quiet and seemingly unsure being will turning into a full fledged tickle monster! She will use baby talk and use anything against her Lee. Chika will still be very careful to not make anything uncomfortable but she will make sure you get the lesson you deserve.

As a Lee she is weak to teases and just like Hyuse she looses strength when tickled and still she’ll try to squirm and shoo your fingers away.

Osamu Mikumo

Captain! Hehe Osamu is an experienced ler and is especially scary for his team since he knows their strengths and weaknesses very well. The boy will do many sneak attacks since he’s about the weakest in the group. Each time he needs to think of a new method, leaving his lees guessing.

As a Lee he’s practically helpless if he doesn’t manage to activate his ‘non ticklishness’ but when you already got him squirming and trying not to laugh it’s not worthless for him. Osamu wont just take the tickles though no no! He will try to fight back and try to see it as training

Hyuse

Hyuse I feel like he wouldn’t know about tickling until Yuma introduced him to it. As a Ler he’s a strong opponent, although he finds it rather childish (because he’s embarrassed about his own ticklishness) he won’t back down from wrecking Yuma or Yotaro when they get on his nerves. He only tickles others if he has no other option or if they’re extra noisy or nervous that day.

As a Lee he’d decline his ticklishness and through the wrecking he’d try to fight but the poor boys worst spots are his waist and the spot between his ribs and armpits. He’s hard to crack but even a surprise attack has him in stitches in just a few seconds.

Thinking about how does the "world" relate to the world trigger series. I mean yeah, trion are like the fuel of the neighborhood countries, but not earth. And those are trions not the specific weapon they called trigger. So is the title a methaphor? Maybe it is refering that the tamakoma-2's actions woud trigger something that would happen in their world. Or maybe it'a literal, aside from black trigger, there's a special and OP weapon called the world trigger.
