My writing and drafting process? In short: unreliable.

Like, listen...... I love writing. But my life is such an absolute clusterfuck right now that I have an entirely unconscionably small amount of time to do it. I feel like I barely have time for the things I absolutely need to do. So while I may get struck with ideas that completely take over any and all higher brain functions, I inevitably have to set them down into some sort of draft or outline or just a sentence if I'm really pressed for time (or just tired).

If I can sit down long enough to properly outline, I try to divide into chapters or at least manageable sections so that I can get a structure going from the beginning. Sometimes the beginning and end is more clearly thought out than the middle and I just have to put in an estimated number of chapters and fill out or prune as the story develops.

I do enjoy having things written out as much as possible before posting when it comes to multichapter fics but that... kinda crashed and burned with camboy, honestly. I thought it'd be one chapter, then two chapters, then "fuck if I know"-chapters but at least I had an outline and then my life went kind of off the rails a little and I had to change writing from "a thing I usually have time for" to "a thing I will do if neither work, nor school, nor life in general takes absolute precedence". I am hopinghopinghoping that once I am done with my degree and only need to wrangle work and a very different kind of life compared to before, writing will again become a thing I can devote time to more consistently.

When I write, it's usually in short and intensive bursts, and I've found I often rally around a key scene, either vibing off it and seeing where it takes me, or I work towards it because it might be the last scene of the chapter and it's a nice carrot to make me fill in the blank space between where I am and where I want to be.

For a scene I have been dying to talk about... In sä saat mut, I mentioned at the end that there was an Easter egg in the fic, but no one has yet made a guess. I may have made it more obscure than anticipated. So here, have it:

It's Jere humming along to songs on the radio while they're driving and smiling like there is a private joke wrapped up in one of them.

The song that Jere smiles about is Kuumaa's "Ylivoimainen". During UMK23 when the artists got to listen to each others' songs, one of his more memorable reactions was that Kuumaa's song was something he'd listen to if he "ever took someone home on a night out". Which. Yes, Jere. You sure did.

Love Songs for Robots

They are watching Electric Dreams at three in the morning, when the night does not judge. It is the longest night of the year, and the sun will not come up for quite some time yet. Maybe never. So Bojan allows his thoughts to wander without judgement:

"Would you want to be a robot?"

Jere doesn't answer just long enough for Bojan to start thinking he's fallen asleep (again), and when he turns to check on his friend, he comes face to face with Jere's unreadable expression. His blue eyes are big and clear, his pupils eclipsing his iris in the semi-darkness. The vibrant indigo and violet from the screen mix with yellow and green on his cheeks, like spilled ink that refuses to muddle.

There's the usual watafak Bojan in the arch of Jere's eyebrows, but then the episode ends and the room is flooded with darkness, like when one's face is reflected in the black screen of a monitor after an episode, open mouth and flabbergasted expression staring right back at you. But three o'clock in the morning does not judge, and Jere is still silent.

Instead of answering, Jere shuffles lower on the bed, Bojan can feel it in the mattress and the covers straining under his legs.

"No," says Jere then, tired and sleepy, and oh so honest.

Bojan, back still against the pillow, reaches over with his arm and lets his hand rest on top of Jere's head.

The next episode of Electric Dreams starts after the credits.

Sticking to calling Jere a bro is more of a defensive mechanism sailing down the Nile. It works pretty much as intended for as long as it can, but every river is doomed to reach an ocean, and Bojan's denial loses integrity faster than he can say one, two, you're my bro. The source is no more than some ancient relic of fear of being outcast, but then the Nile opens into a delta of lush forests and vitalising soil where Bojan's realisation blooms unchecked.

He refuses to enter the ocean, yet. He teeters on the coastline, insects breeding in the warm water, swarming his head with thoughts. He should apologise to Jere for those thoughts.

Why you call me bro?

They haven't seen each other for months, and video calls fall just short enough that Bojan can pretend just one more day. Just one more day under the illusion of normalcy because taking this jump terrifies him.

He knows that the next time they meet, he won't be able to call Jere brother anymore. The next time they meet, denial will cease to exist as a river in Egypt.

Last show: just finished s1 of my ted lasso rewatch the other day. i really did forget how much i love literally every single character and how fun it is. i probably will not rewatch s3 when i finish s2, but ted nevertheless has gone back into my little tupperware container and im shaking him around sooooooooo hard. and taking him out sometimes to give him a break but i just start chewing on him like a piece of jerky.

Sweet/spicy/savoury: savoryyyy. i go crazy for a crispy little savory treat any time of day, i must be honest.

Relationship status: recently broke things off w the girl i was seeing bc i just. wasn't feeling it romantically, as genuinely sweet and fantastic as she is. :/ back to dating around i guess

Last thing I googled: "mixed seed farming stardew valley" sdv has sunk her claws into me once more.... im really prioritizing getting 10 hearts with all the npcs this time around and im gnawing on some of these characters more than i ever have before (shane & elliot.... i would also say evelyn but she's just my beloved little granny. i bring her flowers twice a week just on principle because i love her and i love george too)

I don’t remember it being a gift from Alessandro, although it is Gucci. You might be right, but I don’t recall ever seeing proof of that. What I do recall is seeing antis saying that. But 🤷🏻‍♀️
