Hi Mindy! I’m a college student and I’m struggling to go to bed at a decent hour (think 3 am bedtimes every day) because of the amount of homework I have. Do you have any tips for time management so I can figure out how to get my homework done all during the day so I’m not losing sleep? (Any app recommendations or suggestions on how to schedule my day would be greatly appreciated). Thank you so much! I love your blog and I love seeing your posts🩷
how to get your life together & actually sleep: time management tips for college✨
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
hi love! 💌 first off, thank you so much for your sweet words. they genuinely made me smile. i’m so proud of you for wanting to improve your time management and prioritize your sleep (honestly, sleep is like the ultimate self-care, and you deserve it). i know college can feel like a whirlwind of assignments, deadlines, and just… life. staying up until 3 am is no joke, and it’s amazing that you’re ready to make a change. let’s make your routine feel a little more manageable and a lot more magical.
☁️ romanticize your productivity: first thing’s first: mindset. instead of viewing homework as this scary, endless task that eats up your nights, try to romanticize it. create a cozy study ritual. light a candle, make a cute study playlist (ex: lo-fi mixed with soft acoustics), and set up your space in a way that makes you actually want to sit down and work. i know it sounds silly, but giving your study sessions a soft, aesthetic vibe can make them feel less like a chore and more like a peaceful little routine. i have a lot of posts talking about this
🌙 break down your workload: sometimes it’s not about how much work you have but how it’s organized. take a few minutes in the morning or the night before to make a list of what you actually need to accomplish. break it down into small, bite-sized tasks. for example, instead of “study for chem exam,” write down “review chapter 4 notes,” “do practice problems,” and “make flashcards for key concepts.” checking off small tasks feels way more rewarding than staring at a big, vague to-do.
💡 create a time-blocking ritual: i’m obsessed with time-blocking because it feels like giving each task its own little home. instead of doing everything all at once (which is just chaos), dedicate specific chunks of time to each task. for instance:
🌼 9-10 am: review lecture notes
✨ 10-11:30 am: work on that essay (no distractions)
🍓 11:30-12: take a break, stretch, grab a snack
💻 12-1: group project research set timers to keep yourself accountable. i use the “focus keeper” app for 25-minute work sessions with 5-minute breaks. it’s surprisingly motivating!
📅 the magic of reverse scheduling: if you know you want to be in bed by, say, 11 pm, plan your day backwards from there. schedule your evening wind-down routine (like skincare, a little journaling, and tea) and work your way back through the hours, assigning tasks in reverse. this way, you’re prioritizing sleep as non-negotiable and shaping your day to respect that.
✨ my fave apps for dreamy productivity:
notion: perfect for creating aesthetic, organized to-do lists, study schedules, and even journaling about your progress.
flora: turns studying into a game by planting a virtual tree while you focus. if you leave the app, the tree dies (no pressure, right?).
toggl: tracks your time so you can see how long tasks actually take. it’s eye-opening to realize you might be spending way more time scrolling than studying.
clockify: like a little personal assistant that tracks your study sessions and breaks. it’s simple and kind of addicting to see how productive you’ve been.
habitica: makes productivity feel like an RPG game. complete with character upgrades when you check things off. honestly, it’s too cute to resist.
💖 mindy’s personal tips:
📝 batch similar tasks: do all your note-taking at once, then all your problem-solving. your brain doesn’t have to keep switching gears.
🎯 use the “two-minute rule”: if something takes less than two minutes, do it right away (like replying to emails or organizing your notes).
🕰️ the 1-3-5 rule: pick one big task, three medium tasks, and five small ones to accomplish each day. it keeps your to-do list from being overwhelming.
✨ romanticize rest too: treat your sleep as sacred. create a pre-bed routine that you actually look forward to, like reading a few pages of a lighthearted book or doing a little night yoga.
🌸 don't forget how important 'no' is: sometimes, we overcommit because we’re too nice to say no. it’s okay to protect your time! practice polite ways to decline extra responsibilities when you know they’ll eat into your sleep. like, “i’d love to help, but i have to focus on my assignments tonight. let’s plan something for the weekend!”
🌙 gentle evening wind-down: your body needs time to transition from productivity mode to sleep mode. about an hour before bed, turn off your screens, dim the lights, and switch to calming activities. i like using the “calm” app for guided meditations that feel like little bedtime stories.
🌱 become a morning person (yes, it’s possible)
one trick that really works is having something to look forward to. think of a tiny, indulgent ritual that you save just for mornings. maybe it’s a frothy matcha latte with vanilla syrup, journaling in a pretty notebook, or listening to your favorite podcast while you stretch. the key is to make mornings feel like a gift to yourself rather than just the start of a grind.
set your alarm to a song that makes you feel good!! something soft and happy. bonus points if it’s different from your usual playlist because it’ll feel special. place your phone across the room so you have to physically get up to turn it off. i also love using the “alarmy” app because it makes you solve a simple puzzle before it stops ringing (annoying, but effective).
once you’re up, avoid falling back into bed by making your bed immediately. it’s like telling your brain, “we’re up now. no going back.” then, try a quick, gentle morning stretch to wake your body up without feeling rushed. mornings can actually feel soft and peaceful if you give yourself permission to take it slow.
as for getting enough sleep the night before. make it non-negotiable. treat your bedtime like an important meeting you can’t cancel. remind yourself that a well-rested mind works way better than a sleep-deprived one. it’s all about romanticizing rest as part of your productivity rather than seeing it as wasted time.
give it a week, and see how you feel. even a small shift, like waking up 30 minutes earlier, can make your day feel more spacious and less chaotic. being a morning person is just about creating tiny habits that make mornings feel like a calm beginning rather than a rushed scramble.
🌸 micro productivity okay, let’s be real... sometimes the idea of sitting down for a three-hour study session feels completely overwhelming. that’s where micro productivity comes in. instead of blocking out huge chunks of time, break your tasks into mini-sprints that fit into the small gaps of your day.
for example, while waiting for your coffee to brew, you could make a quick list of your priorities for the day. during your commute or while you’re eating lunch, review your flashcards or skim your notes. those little moments add up, and suddenly your workload doesn’t feel as intense because you’ve been chipping away at it throughout the day.
one of my favorite apps for this is “quizlet.” you can make digital flashcards and quickly review them whenever you have a spare moment. or use “ankidroid” for spaced repetition. it’s great for subjects that require lots of memorization.
another trick? the “two-minute rule.” if a task takes less than two minutes, do it immediately rather than adding it to your to-do list. this helps clear out small, annoying tasks that tend to pile up (like replying to emails or organizing your desktop).
i also love the idea of micro journaling. sometimes, when you’re overwhelmed, writing down just one thought or feeling can give your brain the clarity it craves. it doesn’t have to be a full journal entry, just a few words that capture your mood or intention.
don’t underestimate the function of small wins. every tiny task you complete builds momentum and makes the bigger assignments feel more doable. it’s like telling yourself, “i’m already being productive today. let’s keep that energy going.”
the goal is to make productivity feel more like a series of little achievements rather than one massive to-do list. micro productivity helps you stay on top of things without burning out, and it feels way more manageable when your schedule is packed.
💫 stay motivated when your energy is low we’ve all been there. those days when your brain feels like it’s wrapped in a fog, and the idea of tackling your to-do list feels impossible. it’s okay to have low-energy days, but let’s find a way to work with them instead of against them.
first, check in with yourself. is your low energy from lack of sleep, stress, or just general burnout? sometimes just identifying the reason helps you figure out what kind of self-care you need. if you’re physically tired, maybe your focus should be on rest or low-effort tasks. if it’s more mental fatigue, try switching up your study space or doing something creative to break the monotony.
use the idea of “productive rest.” sometimes, resting doesn’t mean doing nothing. it can be as simple as switching tasks to something lighter, like organizing your notes or doing some gentle stretching while listening to a podcast related to your coursework. this way, you’re still moving forward, just at a gentler pace.
set up a reward system to motivate yourself. for example, after 20 minutes of studying, give yourself a 5-minute break to scroll through pinterest or listen to a song you love. use apps like “forest” to stay focused during your work session and then celebrate with a cute coffee break when your tree grows.
also, be kind to yourself. it’s okay if you’re not operating at 100% all the time. instead of pushing yourself to be overly productive, prioritize what actually needs to get done. sometimes, just getting one important task out of the way is enough for the day, and that’s completely valid.
remember, your energy levels fluctuate, and that’s perfectly normal. don’t pressure yourself to be endlessly productive. balance is key. the goal is sustainable productivity, not burning out from trying to do everything at once. listen to your body, adjust your pace, and know that it’s okay to take breaks when you need them.
💫 final thoughts: it’s all about balance, being productive during the day is great, but you’re human. you can’t be on 24/7. give yourself grace when things don’t go perfectly. the goal isn’t perfection; it’s progress. prioritize rest as much as you prioritize getting things done, and your mind (and grades) will thank you.

Out of curiosity…if Ono is your third fav Seb. What’s your Offical Sebastian Ranking™️?
Just as with the ask about the Anime Expo panel, it's fortunate for me that someone reached out, because I was thinking of making this a post on my own eventually someday anyway. What follows might be more information on my opinions of Sebastian than you care to have, so apologies in advance. Let's count down from worst to best:
6. Hiro Mizushima from Black Butler (2014)
Tumblr media
There's a reason no one talks about this movie. It's because it sucks, and somehow I feel I can't really blame Mizushima for his performance, but... it is still a mixture of weird and unmemorable. That hairstyle does him no favors either, but maybe the fact that I find him a little bit frightening to look at should give him points rather than detract them. Off-screen, he looks like a completely normal man; somehow the film's efforts to make him a sexy butler were unfortunately funneled into making him unnerving and unappealing. And the movie is two entire hours long.
There's a lot I've deleted from my memory about the Black Butler live action film, but that lack of memory seems a sign that he should sit in dead last. Whether he's acting like a total weirdo or actually successfully impressing me, Sebastian should never be a forgettable character, and all I can think when I consider Mizushima's performance is that I never need to see it again.
5. Yuya Matsushita from That Butler, Friendship, The Most Beautiful DEATH in the World, and the first run of Lycoris that Blazes the Earth
Tumblr media
I know some people may find this placement to be blasphemous, but honestly, the only thing I really like about Yuya's Sebastian is his singing voice, and even then I'm not that wild about it. It's been a few years since I watched TMBDITW, so it's not super crisp in my mind, but I will give him some recognition as an early Sebastian who still had little material to work with. He probably had to do some of his own legwork to adapt the character to the stage and to the original stories he was expected to act in. That can't be easy, and it makes sense that his Sebastian would be one that had to stand somewhat independent from the canon. I also appreciate that he is playing Sebastian with purpose behind his actions and not a sexyman who just serves whatever convenient purpose the narrative dictates, like Mizushima's Seb.
With that caveat out of the way, I still don't like his Sebastian portrayal. It's clear Yuya really drummed up the "I'm no one but I can become anyone" aspect of Sebastian. He can invent personas that suit the situation, like when he decides to seduce Undertaker, but as soon as the problem is solved, he reverts back to being robotic and unsmiling. You get the feeling that he's rather cold and calculating and that he is only interested in doing things that will earn him Ciel's soul. I didn't watch with subtitles, so perhaps that evaluation is misplaced, but his mannerisms dictated that energy to me.
Also, I can't get behind the sort of sexual and romantic tones that sometimes felt present, especially when real children were involved. It will always taint his work for me. There's one song where he and Ciel look at each other the entire time and it's three and a half minutes long but it felt like a year. I wanted to crawl out of my skin because it was so horrifically awkward. Stick this man in fifth.
4. Toshiki Tateishi from The Public School's Secret
Tumblr media
So I went into this musical fully prepared to hate Toshiki's performance, considering the act he was following, and... I thought it was actually pretty decent. When I think of Sebastian in the Weston arc, I think of the "sexy professor" angle Yana kept trying to push, and I was worried Toshiki would play into that, especially considering Ciel was being portrayed by a legal adult onstage for the first time. I was pleasantly surprised! That's not what happened at all.
Though likely unintended, I would say Toshiki gives off a rather maternal vibe, behaving more like Seb does in memes: kind of silly, kind of fussy, an overworked single mother who cares for her boy. Toshiki's Sebastian was very attentive of Ciel. He was frequently pleased with his kid's impish nature and didn't seem that annoyed to be taking on extra tasks, only complaining lightly, "Even though I have things to do too!" at the end of the chores song. When Ciel came up with a plan to foil Maurice, Toshiki seemed excited to praise him and gratified to help. He was like Sebastian Lite, only a bit insidious at times, mainly the ever-attentive helper.
To me, it's the first time one of the musicals has made Sebastian feel like a supporting character rather than the driving force behind the story. I prefer when he and Ciel are both treated evenly as protagonists, but I hate it when it's All About Him. I think Toshiki's performance has a good heart and he made me laugh at times. He's not quite canon Sebastian, but I like him. I trust him not to eat the sonboy just yet. Mostly.
3. Daisuke Ono from the Japanese dub of the anime
Tumblr media
Daisuke Ono was a part of my first experience with Black Butler, so there's something about his voice that feels like it's just right for Sebastian. And it kind of is. It's a really flexible voice, and one that is clearly giving a performance when you listen to him. He also infuses his dialogue with what sounds to me like inherent smugness, which I think suits Sebastian perfectly. Ono's performance is the most self-satisfied in nature. It makes you think of a well-fed cat licking its chops while it considers its next meal.
His voice is not sexy to me, but I can see why people find it to be. At the same time, Ono isn't afraid to give Sebastian different inflections, even ones that some might consider too embarrassing or OOC for Seb. He's a veteran voice actor and he knows how to do whatever is requested of him. Sebastian treats his career just the same: he too will do essentially whatever Ciel requires. I think Ono is a natural match is what I'm saying, especially having now seen him in person and observing the way he works a crowd so effortlessly.
All that said... Ono's Sebastian is perfect. I don't mean that as a compliment: I mean he's too lacking in flaws. Sure, he has the big flaw (okay with killing a child) but he isn't really giving "silly idiot." Ono's Sebastian is the one the girlies write about in their self-insert fiction. And for the first two seasons, that's kind of who he was supposed to be, so fine. But even when he has silly or idiotic moments, it doesn't feel quite authentic, if that makes sense? I think to Ono, Sebastian's stupid mistakes are just a fluke, quickly corrected. It doesn't feel like they're a fundamental part of who his Sebastian is.
If you consider this nitpicking, you're right! The next two Sebastians are just that good. I still consider Daisuke Ono to be a very talented and accurately-portrayed Sebastian.
2. J. Michael Tatum from the English dub of the anime
Tumblr media
While it's possible that I pick up on more nuance in Tatum's performance because he's the only one here who speaks the same language as me, how fortunate we are to have him doing Seb's English voice. He might not actually have a real British accent, but he's just too charming not to love. To me, he has all the vocal command of Ono but is more candid in his delivery. Ono may be Sebastian the perfectionist and Sebastian the performer, but Tatum is Sebastian the butler, well settled and confident in his human role.
I really appreciate the ways you can hear Tatum's voice change notably depending on Sebastian's emotions. This is especially prominent in Book of Atlantic during the flashback sequences: an annoyed Sebastian is an entirely different sounding dude than when he's being cunning, and again when he's being subservient. And he really does have this very silky, ASMR-ass way of speaking that suits Sebastian to a T. It's inherently convincing.
And more to my own interests, Tatum's voice for Sebastian has a really paternal nature to it, and I like that. I think it adds to the complexity of Sebastian's role in Ciel's life when you can hear this caring quality in the voice of a demon that will one day kill the child he works for. He can also be snipped and punctual, and then he can be gentle and reassuring, all in the same scene. And he can be scary too... and I'm super looking forward to hearing how this plays out during season 5.
To compare him to Ono again, I think Tatum knows Sebastian can be an idiot at times, but that quality still takes a backseat to the suaveness. He's almost perfect. And I probably would even say he is perfect, if we hadn't seen perfection itself. As he is, I think Tatum is an excellent voice actor for Sebastian, and I'm grateful that we have him in the position that we do.
1. Yuta Furukawa from the second run of Lycoris that Blazes the Earth, Noah's Ark Circus, and Tango on the Campania
Tumblr media
Yuta Furukawa. What a legend. What an icon. This is where I would say "he isn't just playing Sebastian, he is Sebastian," but Furukawa is even more than that. He's what Sebastian should be. And that's not just me being rude to Yana. Yana has flat-out said that Yuta knows Sebastian better than she does herself. She's right.
If you have yet to see Yuta perform, then congratulations: you're in for a treat. What I wouldn't give to forget my first watch of Tango on the Campania and relive that magic all over again. Yuta knows who Sebastian is with every fiber of his being. And the fact that you see him over the course of three plays means you get to witness for yourself how his Sebastian goes from being a smirking demon who lives to impress, to a creature who understands fear, hardship, and pain. And yet you still wonder: is he really learning and growing after all? Or am I too being tricked by this suave being who appears to be emotionally moved?
I'm also proud to report that Yuta plays Sebastian as a true idiot. He says silly things, he behaves in silly ways! He's embarrassing enough to make Ciel roll his eyes, he uses his brawn before his brain, and he's often surprised enough to gasp. He's not afraid to look impressed or astounded or even frightened: he wears his emotions on his sleeves, but he can hide them just as quickly. This Sebastian lives for attention from humans, but what he loves even more is learning from them — perhaps so he can become a better hunter, perhaps so he can become a better scholar. He leaves you wondering which in the most intriguing way.
And I may be biased, but Yuta to me is the most paternal of all the Sebastians. Whether or not a fatherly nature is intended, I'm at least happy to report that his Sebastian is not one romantically inclined towards Ciel. His coworker is an actual child, so there's no reason that should be an acceptable angle anyway, but it really shows in all the little ways he primps at and supports Ciel on-stage. His rapport with Reo is especially adorable and shines through in their every scene.
Not to mention, he's so endlessly entertaining to watch. He has legs for days and he can fuckin groove. He may be playing a demon but he has the voice of an angel. If I called him to my house, he'd probably fix my leaky shower. What can't this gift of a man do??
I could literally go on and on and on for paragraphs. Yana is just the same. We all love Yuta Furukawa, the only Sebastian who is more Sebastian than Sebastian and probably the best thing, in my humble opinion, to come out of the Kuroshitsuji franchise. Thank you, based Yunbastian. We did nothing to deserve you.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kristous pov:
Our jaws were still dropped from our mouths and our face were pale. We were all waiting for lord lusignan today when we suddenly saw lady y/n just enter the door. What were we left to do? We had heard enough terrible things about her, especially from Reynald de Chatillon, when we saw her appear before us like that, we unconsciously felt a little fear. But her behavior seemed very kind and friendly. After welcoming us one by one, she said that she came here to have a little talk with lord Guy de Lusignan.
I was afraid that something would happen. I said, "lord...lord Lusignan doesn't usually welcome uninvited guests, especially guests who find their way into his secret meetings. It's better to go now and talk to him personally later."
Lady y/n said, “God bless all of you knights of the Holy Land. Thank you for the warning, but sometimes it takes an incident to solve some problems.”
What?! She had read my mind? Honestly, I had heard before that y/n could read people's minds.
"Don't worry," she continued, " this conversation won't last long."
jerard was sitting next to me. He bent down and whispered in my ear: "Look at this rude woman! She has come to the secret hall! She's really the devil of Jerusalem."
I shook my head, but to be honest, I didn't saw anything like the devil in her. The image she made of herself in my mind was that of a pious, faithful, frank and bold woman. I kept my thoughts to myself.
A few minutes later, Guy entered the door. He seemed to be deep in thought, his eyebrows were close to each other. He hadn't taken a single step. he froze there and looked at the uninvited guest.
"What is this infidel woman doing here? Why did you let her disturb our secret meeting?"
We knights looked at each other but before we could answer, y/n interrupted him and said that she had been walking around the palace when she happened to come across here and wanted to see a man who hate her the most in the entire of Jerusalem.
Some of the knights coughed nervously and embarrassedly. I looked at jerard, he was also nervous and worried. There was such anxiety in the air that you could even touch it with your hand.
Lord Lusignan said, "I don't care why you came here. I have more important things to do than talk to you. You have no right to be here at all. Hurry up and get out."
Lady y/n said, "I see you don't want to talk in front of me. But behind my back you gossip like a nightingale, no one can stop you. You have a habit of gossiping behind me and the king and making dirty accusations. Now Since we have occupied your mind so much, you probably have some questions. go ahead! I'm listening!"
:"I have nothing to do with you. Whatever I need to know, I know. all these knights as well."
At that moment, lady y/n turned to us and raised her voice, "If someone says, 'I know everything I need to know,' they should not be known as your lord, but as a fool." . Only the ignorant think they know everything."
Guy's face was red with anger. Until today, no one had been seen with such boldness in the palace.
:"In that case, come and ask these knights: Which one is more important for Jerusalem? The holy soldiers and defenders of Jerusalem or a wandering madman who does nothing but pry and ask questions and whose mind is always distracted?"
All the people present there took the guy's side, but I felt that most of them are not honest and just want to gain his trust.
Lady y/n asked, :"You sit everywhere and with everyone and talk behind my back. You say I was sent by the devil. Okay, now that's the case, please tell me what a devil is?”
Lord Lusignan, who now had a good opportunity to express himself, said: "devil is the worst enemy to man and humanity, and always walks among us in disguise. Sometimes in the form of a poor and seemingly innocent human, and sometimes in the form of a beautiful woman. comes to encourage us to get out of the right path. The devil appears in different forms that we don't expect it at all. For example, may appear in the form of a traveling and ordinary girl. But the faithful soldiers of Christ, won't listen to such a evil. "They never allow you to enter their privacy." Then he examined her from head to toe.
Lady y/n smiled as if she was expecting this insult and said,: "I know what you mean. But it was so easy! It's good for us to always look for the devil in others, isn't it?"
"What do you mean?" he asked hesitantly.
:"Well, if the devil is as cunning and powerful as you say and is always waiting for an opportunity to be by our side, what is the need for us, the humans, to blame ourselves for the mistakes that we have done with our own wish? we usually say that all sins is because of the devil and all good is from the god, so what exactly we're doing here as a human? In this way, there is no reason to ask ourselves questions and make up for our mistakes. We blame everything either on Satan or on God. Let's go. See ? how easy it is?"
:"You either have a lot of courage and intelligence or you're very stupid to talk about such things to such people." Guy said to y/n
But she continued talking as if she didn't hear his voice and started walking in the hall between us.
: "a human is such a complex being that he can prepare both heaven and hell for himself. is the highest creation of God. However, can become higher than high or lower than low. If we understood the meaning of this deeply, Then we wouldn't look for the devil outside, but inside our own soul. The only thing we need is to check ourselves, not to look for mistakes in others."
jerard said from the corner with a mocking tone: "You, fire worshiper, you better check yourself first. I hope one day you will answer for the lies you're saying."
:"So let me tell you a story," she said.
... Four merchants were praying in an empty church. At the same time, the head of the merchants joins them. The first merchant abandons his prayer and immediately asks: "Then what will happen to these loads of silk that we were supposed to take with us?"
The second merchant abandons his prayer and says to his friend: You fool! Don't you know that you should not talk to anyone during prayer? Now all your prayers will be null and void."
The third merchant also made such statements.
The fourth merchant couldn't bear it anymore. he whispered: Look at these fools! All three of them gave up their prayers. thanks to the god, i didn't allow myself to be deceived and stop my worship with idle words like them."
After finishing this story, y/n turned to the knights and asked, "Well, what do you think? Which one of these four merchants do you think had their prayers accepted by the god?"
There was a wave in the hall, some of the templars thought, some started to discuss the answer. Finally, one of them shouted from the bottom of the hall: "The prayers of the second, third and fourth merchants are not accepted. Only the first merchant is innocent because he only asked to consult his boss."
Another one said: "Yes, but he shouldn't have left his prayer half-done. In my opinion, except for the fourth one, the rest of the merchants were wrong. The fourth merchant was only talking to himself."
I looked away from them. I wasn't sure that any of these two answers were correct. But I preferred not to say anything. If I say my opinion, probably no one would like it. Suddenly, y/n stood up, pointed at me and asked.
Well, what do you think?!"
I said: "If these merchants have a fault, it is that they stopped worship and spoke. Their main mistake was that instead of focusing on God and the truth of the prayer they recited, they started criticizing each other." Their thoughts are somewhere else and all their senses are distracted. Now if we judge them, we will also commit the same sin."
One of those bigoted knights interrupted me: "What do you want to say?"
I answered: "I say that all four merchants are wrong for the same reason. But on the other hand, it's not right to judge them because I don't know which one of them was accepted by the Lord. As a person, I only do my work and deal with my own mistakes. I have nothing to do with others but protect them."
Lady y/n gave me such an admiring look that I felt like I was being praised by the whole world. she asked my name. "Kristous, my lady," I said.
At that time y/n turned to the rest of the templars and knights and said:" your friend is a true knight, maybe he is not aware of this fact yet. But his soul is very similar to the pious men. I think that Now you understand the difference between a fanatic and a true knight. You must be very careful about your thoughts. Because the disease caused by thoughts is much worse than physical disease, and bigotry is a disease worse than leprosy. will take all your soul and faith away . Be more careful in choosing your friends."
lord Guy, who couldn't take it anymore, angrily left the hall and slammed the door behind him. if she wasn't the king's special guest, im sure she would be behaded right there.
A few people laughed a little after he left, but y/n said with obvious sadness in her voice, :"I've met hundreds of knights and members of this palace so far, some of them were very honest and sincere people like the king. But some, even a little bit They did not understood the real Christianity properly and only used it for their own benefit. It is true that I am not a Christian, but this much I understood that it is possible to live with someone despite all the differences without causing harm. The true love of God is never combined with ambition for power . And I wouldn't never exchange it to wealth."
she raised her head and returned to her previous determination: "That's enough for today. What you witnessed today is the separation of mind and heart. This duality exists in all religions. Make your choices!"
she was silent for a while, as if she was waiting for us to understand her words.
:"In any case, neither your lord Lusignan knows more than he should know, nor do I. Maybe he is blind, and I am also blind. The important thing is that the blindness of a person doesn't harm the sun. The discussion of people with different religions is also has no effect on God. Now you understand why your king always prefers peace."
she put her hand on her chest and said goodbye to all of us and left us all alone in that hall with thousands of questions.
I raised my head for a moment and was horrified by what I saw. I saw the king who witnessed all the events from behind the columns of the upper floor. I wanted to inform everyone but he gave me a sign that I should remain silent. Today was supposed to be a day full of mystery. didn't end well...

Kique’s Love Language: Lust Only
So there have been some thoughts about the newest pages (885 and 886) and I wanted to add into the discussion. When you write, you are inserting a part of yourself into the story that you are telling. Anyone that tells you that they aren’t, is lying or being disingenuous. It could be a little influence, it could be a lot. Just depends on the creator of the piece. Having said that, I do believe that the reason a lot of the romance issues in Home is a problem is because Kique has no idea how a healthy relationship works. I’m not trying to take podshots at him. This is merely based on what is viewable in the comic although yes, how he treated his IRL partners leaves a lot to be desired. It would be one thing if there was just one instance of bad relationships within the story, but there are multiple ones. This is not an issue in itself, but not once does Kique ever acknowledge its existence to the audience, via a character or stated within the subtext that these relationships or ever present them as… questionable at best.
Ignoring that Rome is a self-insert, his character growth is flat. We saw him at Ravencrest. He was an outsider and the others were related to each other. He knew that the brothers were jackasses but still stayed there because reasons. When Jahla got caught, he tells the Jarl that Havenreach is an ally of the Solar Stag Tribe to his Jarl. Even though the Jarl didn’t believe him, Rome again had no reason to nearly murder his tribe members and free a ‘dangerous’ wolf by the locals. He has no reason to trust Jahla but for some reason he does. He’s hamfisted in the story and his subsequent appearances haven’t painted him in a better light. That’s always been my problem with this character. If Jalha has a concern, Rome is there. If Jalha needs someone to talk to, Rome is there. Rome read the script to the story and magically knows how to solve every problem or how to answer it. Nevermind that Thacker and Folliun have been by her side longer than Gigachad Rome. She goes directly to him and doesn’t ask the opinion of a fucking priest or her damn familiar. She knew Rhov for years, but in the span of a few months (if that, it’s hard to tell with the bad pacing of this comic) gets together with this bastard.
Someone reminded me that Jahla was being groomed to the leaders for Asmundr with Rhov and I honestly forgot about this early plot point. She lost her dominant qualities almost overnight it seems. And this isn’t a one time deal because Ronja suffers the same issue. What was wrong having two dominant partners, or a situation where a role reversal happens and the females are dominant? Why does competency seem to only work for males and not females? It’s not surprising that though a FxF has been named, their relationship is happening off screen and I expect that to continue to be the case.
Rogio/Roamer, Rogio/Roamer/Kargo, Jahla/Rome, and to a smaller extent Rhov/Feaf have this same problem. One of the characters just dominates the relationship with the other being notably demure and submissive. When I say dominant, I’m not speaking about force here, but I mean just about all of the actions taken or discussions are typically dictated by one character. A healthy relationship is built on compromise and understanding with BOTH parties involved. The above relationships I mentioned are fueled by lust. Someone is sad? They have sex. Someone is going through a crisis? Sex cures all. Roamer found out that Zilas was killed by the MT. This supposedly important character DIED at the hands of a hostile tribe and Rogio just fucks him 10 minutes later. This is not a misunderstanding because it’s been happening all too often in the comic in the later chapters.
Roamer and Kargo had issues, but it was relatable to many readers because there were ups and downs in their relationship which is true to anyone. Ironically enough this relationship was one of his best written relationships because Kique was copy and pasting from Sparticus. I hate to say it, but when he was stealing dialogue, he wrote better. A huge oversight is that there are no conflicts within the character dynamics when lovers are concerned. If Kique wanted to go that route, he should have just created a bunch of Porn without Plot pieces with his favorite characters.

SB prompt for ya since it’s almost Halloween!
Gregory for Halloween goes as Freddy and Freddy absolutely goes loses it. I’m just imagining Gregory in the full outfit with shoulder pads, a cute little headband with ears, and face makeup quoting Freddy saying “way to go superstar!” with a huge grin and Freddy just melts.
The mental image of Freddy walking beside a small mini him around the plex is so cute. You can’t tell me Freddy wouldn’t scoop him up and get as many pictures of the two of them as possible.
Also the others would be good natured and jokingly talk about how it’s favoritism and Gregory would just go “well he is my favorite” and cause Freddy’s system to crash.
Here’s tumblr generated prompt number 13! I’m so glad this one got picked, so I can at least say I wrote a belated Halloween ficlet! This is pure fluff!
Double Trouble
“Hold still!” Cassie complained, not for the first time. Gregory, prone to wiggling, gripped the chair tightly to keep from fidgeting too much. He didn’t actually want to cause problems, for once.
He desperately wanted to ask if she was done yet, or at least close, but talking would mean moving, and he really was trying to be on his best behavior. He’d asked for this, after all.
After another few agonizingly long minutes, Cassie leaned back with a pleased smile. “Done! And looking fabulous, if I do say so myself.”
Gregory leapt from his chair and skidded to look in the mirror. “Cassie!” he cried, beaming. “It looks amazing!” He turned his face this way and that, admiring her work. “I’d ask if you want any help with yours, but…”
She snickered, tucking herself close to a smaller mirror on her desk to start on her own makeup for her Halloween costume. “You’d mean well,” she allowed, “but I’ll pass, thanks.”
As she preformed some witchcraft to keep her lines straight and even and symmetrical, Gregory finished getting dressed. He was overly careful not to smudge the Freddy makeup—the blue was a perfect match, honestly, he didn’t know how Cassie did it—thankful that he at least had already put on his shirt. He snapped on the bracelets and slid on the headband with the fuzzy ears and little black top hat hot-glued at a subtle angle. The bowtie was carefully safety-pinned to his shirt, nice and straight.
The shoulder pads—and Cassie had agreed with him on this—were actually the hardest part of their costumes. They were a little too big and heavy to be clipped, pinned, or glued to their shirt shoulders without them slipping or tugging on the fabric in a way that just didn’t look good.
Cassie’s dad had solved their problem: backpacks. The shoulder straps were much sturdier and could easily support the foam shoulder pads’ weight. Plus, it made it super easy to take them off without damaging the rest of their costumes.
Their backpacks were waiting by the front door with their boots. Gregory’s were snow boots covered with foam to mimic Freddy’s feet and the red part of his legs. Cassie’s were just the same, only with Roxy’s purple and black animal print.
Another bit of practicality, curtesy of Cassie’s dad, who was pretty good at arts and crafts. Gregory’s costume wouldn’t look half as awesome without his help.
Cassie finished her own makeup (much faster than she’d done Gregory’s, and that wasn’t only because he needed more) and hopped up to finish putting on her own costume. Arm bands, wolf ears—complete with earrings, just like Gregory’s—and fuzzy wolf tail. She blew her green lock of hair out of her eyes.
“That’s gonna annoy you all night,” Gregory half teased, half warned her.
She conceded with a disgruntled huff and went to stuff a few spare bobby-pins in her pocket. Pushing him over to the tall mirror hanging on the back of her bedroom door, Cassie squished them together so both their reflections fit. “How do we look?”
“Awesome. Duh.”
“Are we missing anything?”
They each critically examined each other’s costume. Luckily, they weren’t too complicated.
“Yours looks good to me,” he said.
“Yours too.” She grinned widely. “They’re gonna freak.”
Gregory snickered. “This’ll knock ’em both out, for sure.”
“Perfect,” Cassie said, eyes glinting mischievously. And people thought Gregory was the only troublemaker between them.
Cassie’s dad took a few pictures once they finished getting dressed up before driving them over to the pizzaplex. The Halloween party was in full swing by the time they got there, and thanks to their special VIP wristbands, they got to skip past all the lines. And bless Mr. King for never asking any questions about how or where they got the wristbands. He just followed along behind them with his own average VIP pass until he split off from them with a reminder to be good, stay together, and text him if they needed anything.
Unleashed, Gregory and Cassie meandered through the festivities for a while, accepting donuts and cider from one of the many treat tables set up in the building. There were some games scattered around, a few face-painting booths, and reminders for the evening’s activities plastered on every other corner. Almost everyone was in costume, even the employees and some of the STAFF bots roaming around.
“Oooh,” Cassie said, tugging at Gregory’s arm. “They turned the Fazer Blast arena into a haunted house!” She gave him a pleading look, cheering when he obligingly set off in that direction.
• • •
The annual Halloween party was, at the very least, a pleasant change of pace. It was one of the busiest nights of the year, but Freddy could not bring himself to mind how exhausting it was, not when all the children were in such high spirits.
The costumes were perhaps his favorite part, though the pizzaplex’s decorations were a close second. They were all so creative and fun to look at. There were costume contests scattered throughout the event, separated by age groups or themes or group costumes. The animatronics were not judges of the contests—they did not have opinions as robots, obviously—but they were expected to attend each one and give out the prizes once the judges had deliberated.
There was even a contest specifically for all the children who came dressed up as members of the band (with a few of Sun or Moon, or even more rarely, the DJ). One particularly memorable past winner had been accompanied by a service dog wearing a simple homemade wet floor sign bot costume.
Freddy became increasingly distracted as the night carried on. Gregory had promised to visit during the party, but there had been no sign of the boy yet. It was a large building, and there were many activities to participate in, and so it was most likely that Gregory was having fun elsewhere—he was logically aware of that, of course.
But that wasn’t helping his patience.
Gregory had mused about what he wanted to do for a costume since before October had even begun. Freddy had tried to veto all the gory suggestions, though he was still not sure if Gregory had meant them sincerely or was simply messing with him. Last he had heard, Gregory was mostly settled on a character from his favorite video game.
This was necessary information to better explain the way he short-circuited from surprise when he saw Gregory cross the stage during a costume contest. Specifically the one for kids dressed as them.
A warning flashed on his HUD that he was in danger of overheating, though he hardly noticed. His friends were all snickering around him, less subtle than normal, as they were safely at the back of the room.
Gregory did a jaunty spin to show off his Freddy costume—more than one system in Freddy’s body had to reboot, stalling out from pleased shock.
Roxy elbowed him in the side, grinning, some pointed remark surely on the tip of her tongue, when her jaw dropped open as if the hinge had suddenly broken.
On stage, Cassie, in a similarly styled Roxy costume, joined Gregory. The announcer was saying something about them being a pair, and both of them were smiling widely as Gregory twirled Cassie under his arm.
Roxy’s body visibly locked up, and her the lights of her eyes flickered wildly. Beneath his frantically whirring fans, Freddy felt a bit appreciative of karma’s quick turnabout.
You were saying? he asked pointedly over a private channel.
Shut—shut up, she sent back.
They had seen dozens, hundreds, of children dressed as them over the years. They had gotten used to it, and though it was sweet, they did not really feel anything from it anymore. It was nearly comical, then, how these two particular children made him and Roxy feel so much.
Distracted with trying to regain his composure and stop being on the verge of involuntary shut down, he failed to notice Gregory and Cassie’s approach until the two of them were standing right in front of him and Roxy.
Given Roxy’s choked little sound of surprise, she had similarly been caught off guard. Curse Monty and Chica for sidling away and not warning them.
Gregory and Cassie grinned up at them knowingly. “Like our costumes?” Gregory asked, his eyes nearly glowing with mischief.
“I know you probably see tons just like them,” Cassie said, faux shyly, tugging at the crop top layered over her gray shirt. “Or even better ones. But we did our best!”
Roxy twitched. Freddy’s attempts at internal damage control were not going well.
“Yeah,” Gregory said, not nearly as good at playing bashfully innocent when the slant of his smile warned of the one-hit knock-out verbal punch he was about to deliver. “You’re our favorites, after all, and we wanted to be just like you.”
The punch landed. Freddy’s systems flashed a brief warning before he went into a soft reset. The last thing he registered was Roxy crashing simultaneously with him, which made him feel only marginally better.

Syzygy: Some Closing Thoughts
I'm writing this at 8pm on my backyard porch, under the wavering light of a distant full moon.  Hello, moon! Please don't kidnap me. I just wanted to hang out with you for a while as I collect my final thoughts. It's a pretty cloudy night tonight, so it's not properly visible, which I suppose is the cloud cover shielding me from a terrible lunar fate. It gives a deliciously hazy atmosphere for the absolute essay I'm about to write.
Tumblr media
Apparently, the Farmer's Almanac says that tonight's full moon is a 'Pink Moon', which sounds like it'd be a very pleasant viewing experience. I imagine pastel frangipanis spontaneously sprouting all over the moon's surface, covering every inch of its rocks and crags until the soft pink glow is visible from all the way down here on Earth. Unfortunately it's not named 'Pink Moon' because of that; there's some American environmental factors, etc.
I think it's kind of charming that there's a list of names for every possible full moon, as if the moon's putting on different masks or incarnations every time it tilts just enough that we can see its full face. I'm looking at a list of them now instead of writing these final notes like I probably should. The names are so delightful. Strawberry Moon. Sturgeon Moon. Apparently last month's full moon was Worm Moon. WORM MOON. I could go on. I won't. Let's talk about Syzygy instead.
Syzygy is... Man, where do I even start with this? Let's try the beginning. I started writing Syzygy in February of 2021, after ruminating on it for probably a few months before that, as I often do. That's three years ago, so my memories of the reasons why are a bit fuzzy, but I think I did it for two reasons: one, a desire to have a long-form meaty slowburn fic for a beloved rarepair in the tag so other people could enjoy it, and two, a fascination with the idea of fractured identity, what it means to be a Side without a Centre. The whole thing with the alternate-history steampunk swapped-around Earth came about naturally from that.
Except that's actually kind of a lie, because that's not the beginning, this began in 2020, when I wrote a pitch for a local station that was accepting radio play submissions (rejected, of course) featuring a hardboiled noir detective in a starlit city whose latest client was a tiny shiny girl asking him to solve her father's murder. And that's also a lie, because I think it really began when I tried to write an original novel in high school where the protagonist's name was Avery Allen, because I liked the way the name tripped off my lips.
My stories are always built on each other, especially stories I never get to write. They all recycle into each other in a weird blend of concepts and characters. 2021 was when I sat down and told myself I was going to write the Thomceit time loop fic, and I dove into it with aplomb. I can't recall the exact timeline of events, but at some point I underwent some truly gnarly health problems that left me unable to use my hands for extended periods of time, and so the fic that was meant to be for a Big Bang ended up... Just sitting in a folder for a while. But me and my beta managed to pull it the fuck together, and after adding some extra bits and pieces (the cutaways were a LAST MINUTE ADDITION even though I think they're some of my favorite bits in the whole thing) I started putting it all up.
Okay, there we go, that's enough of an abridged history of this thing. Let's just say: I never expected as many people to like it as it turned out, I thought that it would be a niche little fic for a rarepair, and I was honestly pretty content with that. So it was delightful to see so many people getting so into it, I have enjoyed the FUCK out of all of your comments and theories and predictions. It's been delightful when people predicted a plot point correctly, and honestly even more delightful when they predicted incorrectly. I've had such a blast.
As for the writing... Suffice to say I have many notebooks full of notes and thoughts, more than one spreadsheet to keep track of time loops and lore, and a semi-complete list of all of Virgil's tarot cards, which one day I'll probably polish and share properly, because I think the concept is neat. But that's kind of how it always goes with my writing.
Naming every inspiration for this would take forever and I'd still miss a few, but I'll just throw out a key few ones, because I gotta:
17776: What Will Football Look Like In The Future, because when I first read it I got the wrong idea and thought that Juice (Jupiter Icy Moons Explorer) was short for Betelgeuse (the star), and that sparked a whole thing about living stars in my brain. Also, just the general way that the worldbuilding and absurdity is handled in that world, it scratches my brain just right.
Welcome To Night Vale. I don't think I need to explain this one.
Madeleine L'Engle's writing, particularly A Wind In The Door, particularly-particularly the bit of it where Proginoskes explains why, precisely, he has to remember and Name every star in the universe. Fucking beautiful book.
A particular Untamed/Mo Dao Zu Shi fic I read years ago and haven't been able to track down again, which also features two people stuck in a time loop who are initially unaware that they're in it together AND dying at the same time. I believe they also meet on a bus? The details are fuzzy. The worldbuilding and descriptions of that fic were so stunning to me, it had me unable to read anything for a solid few weeks, it is definitely a superior work to mine in every respect. If anyone finds it, let me know, I don't think I finished reading it and want to know how it ends.
An unpublished fic that I had the privilege to read while it was being written, that changed my brain chemistry re: the Sides unknowingly existing without Thomas. The Flowerwall Cafe originally hails from this one, too, graciously borrowed and greatly beloved.
Both Ghibli films in general AND Dianna Wynne Jones books in general, and obviously the intersection between the two, Howl's Moving Castle, which is fascinating in how both mediums handle the setting.
The Doctor Who audio drama Scherzo, which is a wild ride, and there's a major plot point revolving around the two main characters holding hands and fusing gruesomely into each other - and another involving an in-story fairy tale.
There was no huge inspiration for the clockwork city and weird steampunk carriages, apart from (perhaps) Fallen London. Certainly, the idea of a background organization that wants to kill the sun, who also happens to be a sentient being, is cribbed from the Liberation of Night.
Syzygy also happens to be packed full of many obscure references to... like... personal projects of mine, some published and some unpublished, as well as a lot of my friends and co-writers, and some really REALLY niche stuff that only I will ever properly understand. I buried a lot of myself into this story, is what I'm saying. Juice hails from a completely different project (a TTRPG with my friends, of which she is a beloved and cherished NPC), the in-universe author for Avery Allen (and Mallory Wynn too) are named for a fictional TV author I created when the writing discord was making a nonexistent fandom, Logan's dumpling recipe is my favorite recipe of all time.
I have an apartment ghost, too. I talk to it regularly.
Final thank-yous, because I want to post this very very soon, I've been typing for too long and the mosquitoes are starting to get to me. Thank you to:
Everyone on the TSS writing server who listened to me complain while I was writing it the first time round, and has subsequently listened to me complain while editing it these past two years. So many people in there are responsible for little bits and pieces - phrasings, words, nicknames, jokes - and I couldn't begin to name everyone who helped.
Saphira and the rest of the people who are currently working on making a full-cast audio drama out of this fic (???) (???!!!!??) (!!!!). It is SO baffling to me that it's happening, I'm in complete disbelief whenever we talk about it or I see the script or I get asked logistics questions, I'm terrified and thrilled to see how it turns out, what the fuck! The very existence of that project has ended up influencing a few things about this fic's endgame, too.
Everyone who's commented extensively, commented entire academic analyses, commented numbered lists, commented laconically, left a single emoji in the comments, left kudos, bookmarked it, sent me asks on Tumblr, given me thumbs-ups on Discord, or even just silently read the fic without interacting at all. Your witness brings my words to existence. Love you love you love you.
And Len, who lives in my brain and my body and my heart and my throat, and who is honestly singlehandedly responsible for dragging this fic out of the depths of Google Docs and into the arms of AO3. They've already said I don't need to thank them, but come on, I totally do. Len is the best beta, and puts up with all sorts of deranged nonsense from me, because I have an unhinged writing process where I don't think about anything before I put it down on the page, and I use way too many connecting-dashes and not enough semicolons. Kisses kisses kisses. Thanks for doing this with me, and I can't wait to do it again.
Myself. I managed to write this and I managed to finish it. That makes me a pretty cool person, all things considered. I'm glad I did this.
What next? I've got to rest. Well, I need to get some things done... and then rest. I've been juggling a hellish amount of projects for a while now, and now Syzygy's finally cleared from my plate, I'm going to try to let the others get cleared too so I can take some time and be less stressed. The Locked Tomb AU will be ongoing, as I get through final edits of chapters, so keep an eye out for that - if you're interested in a fic that's rather less starry and shiny, but very much Thomceit and death themes, check it out  - and then....... Well, whatever comes next, whenever I have the energy to do it. I adore writing in this fandom. I'll be back with something weird soon enough.
Ad astra, baby! It's been a blast.

hi! i saw that your twisted wonderland matchups were open so i would like to request!
basic information:
i am an estp, and my zodiac sign (sun) is libra. i would like to matched up with a male (even though twst only has males what am i talking abt)
personality:
(positive traits) : i am a hard worker and when i set my mind to something i can work insanely hard for it. (but i won’t work to the point that my mental health declines) im a very committed person! i am also very friendly and easy to talk to! i like rules and i will follow them to the best of my ability because i think rules keep people organised so i don’t see much of an issue with them. (and i swear leaving the table 15 minutes after finishing your lunch is what i grew up learning so honestly i think half the heartslabyul rules are just common sense) i am very anti-violence and i strongly believe that violence is not the way to solve issues. i would say i’m quite responsible, i never miss any homework deadlines, and my grades are always “a”. im very cheerful as well and according to my friends and family, my happy energy is contagious!
(negative traits) : i tend to sleep quite a bit, not sure if this counts as a negative trait! i sleep around 9-10 hours because if i don’t i feel so groggy 😭😭 i tend to have insanely high expectations of myself so when i get anything lower than what i expect i will be disappointed and upset with myself. (i would be disappointed if, for example, i got a 89 on the subject im best at) i think i do get carried away easily as well, for example when my skin has a few bumps on them i’ll get really insecure and sad.
physical appearance:
i’m 158cm and i have pretty slim fingers and i’m really thin too. my bmi is underweight but i just can’t gain weight :c (but i still look and appear healthy! so i’m 158cm and 43kg)
likes and dislikes:
(likes) : EGGS!! dogs, pandas, alpacas, and hedgehogs! i enjoy written subjects instead of subjects like art, music, and physical education (all subjects i get lower than an “a” in fr 🫠😔) i LOVE reading books too, its my hobby! (+chocolate)
(dislikes) : FOOD WITH OLIVE OIL (disgusting i hate it) i hate olive oil too!! anything olive oil stay away from me 😭 and mushrooms i HATE HATE HATE mushrooms.
that’s all, thank you!!
Anon I hope you know how much you set yourself up for this one, otherwise I don’t know what to tell you
== Twisted Wonderland ==>
I match you up with…
Riddle Rosehearts
Pre-relationship:
You’re quick to become Riddle’s favorite dorm member, and not just because you respect the rules of the dorm, but also because of your ability to challenge his expectations all while upholding them.
He is, of course, taken by your diligence and adherence to the rules of the dorm. When you memorize all of them, he’ll admit, he’s quite a bit flustered. Admiring and respceting the rules of the dorm almost feels like you’re showing him the same respect - something his height and attitude rarely affords him outside of school.
And, of course, you show the utmost respect for Riddle himself, which gives him a confidence boost like nothing else.
That, and, you actually seem to like him? Few can claim to do both of those, ergo, you two are fast friends.
He’s also thrilled when he finds out how much you like hedgehogs, and shows the ones around the dorm to you eagerly. He looks so happy and full of enthusiasm that it makes you blush, just a bit.
Being aware of your own mental health is something he admires. Riddle tends to work himself to the bone, but you’re quick to step in and let him know, sternly, that he needs a break, and that you’ll happily join him for tea or a walk through the garden.
And somewhere in between those walks and chats over tea, he falls deep and hard for you.
Confession:
Riddle meticulously plans out his confession to you, down to the very second he’ll say each and every syllable. It would be cute if he confessed to you using his original plan, but perhaps more so if you caught him sleeping after a long night of working on his plans - which you could clearly see.
That forces an improtu confession that has him flustered and frazzled and in rare form, but he’s just that much cuter when he stammers out his feelings for you.
Relationship:
Your relationship is one built on mutual respect and trust. You two both see the other as too good for you at the start, but with a lot of communication and the determination you both possess, negative thoughts are quickly swept aside and replaced with soft kisses.
You two spend a lot of dates cuddled up next to eacother in the library, reading your own books but slipping into an intellectual conversation every now and then.
Your high energy and happiness rubs off on him too. When he’s around you, dorm members will attest to him being kinder and more passionate.
That, and, his face is often red from kisses planted on his cheeks.
You two are a power couple whose relationship is something to aspire to.

Part Two. Same Old Bookish Swamp — and I’m the Swan in the Middle of It
Alrighty then, let’s dive into part two of my epic book club adventure. Remember how I heroically claimed one of the free chairs last time? Well, there I was, all settled in and feeling proud. Around me — a strategic seating formation: two empty chairs on the left, three on the right, and two more across from me, closer to the restroom. Basically, I was seated like a queen on her throne.
Time passed, people were whispering and giggling, but no one seemed in a rush to start anything. I was sitting there like, “Hey guys, are we here to discuss a book or are we starring in a silent reality show called ‘Who’ll Crack First in Awkward Silence?’”
Ten minutes went by. The discussion had “started,” but not really. Then a duo of chatty friends sat down on my right. From their convo, I gathered we were waiting for some latecomers. Okay, fair. But plot twist — apparently the organizers knew about it, but us mere mortals? Left in the dark. Classic.
And then, fashionably very late (like, “resurrected from the ashes” late), enter The Four Horsewomen… of the Gigglepocalypse. Young, loud, and bubbly — so bubbly even Red Bull would feel undercaffeinated next to them. These girls clearly hadn’t yet encountered the death stare of a thirty-something woman who just wants peace and a decent chair.
They glance at me and go:
— “Would you mind moving over there, by the restroom?”
Internally, I was like: “Would YOU mind?”
Externally — calm, polite, but firm like granite:
— “Girls, I understand, but I’d like to stay here.”
Now maybe someone reading this is thinking, “Geez, what a mean lady. She could’ve just moved.” But let’s rewind: I didn’t show up late, I got lost in the concrete jungle, yet still arrived on time, and I chose my seat with tactical precision — I could hear, see, and wasn’t in anyone’s drink-ordering path.
But the girls weren’t giving up. Clearly, they thought a combo of giggles and passive pressure might work.
But sweethearts — I’ve been to therapy!
The old me might’ve offered my seat and fluffed the cushion. But the new me? Hello, boundaries and gentle sass! 😇
So I sat there, and they started whispering to each other — loudly enough for me to hear them call me “mean.”
And honestly? That was the moment my guilt packed its bags and left.
Any lingering thought like “Maybe I should move…” just evaporated.
I was like, “Move? Now? NEVER.”
Luckily, their grudge didn’t last long. In five minutes, they scouted a few empty seats ahead, sweet-talked someone into switching, and voilà — puzzle solved.
I remained at my spot, center stage and comfortable.
Then, a lovely girl sat down on my right, ordered a cocktail, and smiled:
— “Would you mind switching seats with me?”
And I’m sitting there like: “Seriously? Again?!”
For a split second, I thought, “Maybe the restroom corner isn’t that bad…”
But then my inner voice hit rewind: “Did you forget how this show started?! Kindness is great — but not at the cost of self-erasure!”
So I smiled and said:
— “No thanks. I’m good right here.”
Moral of the story?
If you arrived on time, picked a good seat, and aren’t breaking any universal laws — stay put.
Kindness is lovely, but so is personal space and peace of mind.
P.S. Okay fine — I did eventually switch seats. The girl was super sweet and adorable. I couldn’t resist. 😍

In a Heartbeat - Chapter 31 - Part 1
Tumblr media
*Warning Adult Content*
Vince
This was a bad idea.
A therapy session, Chase called it.
Like what was that going to solve but he insisted, claiming it would help us or whatever but honestly, it was just going to turn into a shit-show.
It didn't help that I was late but I didn't care.
I wasn't in the mood to deal with this and I don't think Simon was either.
I mean the guy could barely even glance at me, let alone be in the same room and sure enough, he sat a few feet away from me, looking just about ready to vomit from being in here.
Chase sat on the other side of the table, looking down at his papers, before looking up, giving a curt smile.
"Well, I didn't think you'd show up, Vince," he scoffed.
"I'm only a couple of minutes late."
"Sure," he scoffed.
Chase shook his head before sighing.
"Truthfully, I think this situation is ridiculous."
"Thank you," I sneered.
"My brother is insane."
"But," he interjected.
"I think you two can benefit from this in some way."
"Not you too," I said with disgust.
I couldn't possibly understand what he was thinking.
"Benefit how?"
I glanced at Simon from the corner of my eye, his head still trained downward, his left hand squeezing his thigh.
Good, he thought this was a terrible idea too.
Chase sighed loudly, before pulling out a bottle of suppressants from his drawer.
"For starters, you can get off of these."
"Nope, not happening," I responded.
"You will and you must," he warned.
"Or you'll never get your position back from Michael."
I smirked.
"Yeah, right."
"Your wolf is dying, Vince," he said matter of factually.
"And you'll follow suit if you keep this up."
"So what?" I exclaimed.
"I don't..."
Chase interjected.
"So, it would be wise to get off of them to get stronger. Your side effects are getting worse, Vince. If you lose your wolf, you'll go insane and most likely die before you could ever become Alpha again."
"Even if I did get off the pills," I tilted my head in Simon's direction.
"What does this have to do with what Michael proposed?"
Chase massaged his forehead in irritation before replying.
"Everything, Vince. Getting off the pills is one thing but it's not magically going to get you back to full strength but with Simon, your mate, the bond could potentially heal you faster and better. Even if it just meant you two being near each other, it could help your bond, help your wolves. It could help with the withdrawal symptoms or any other side effects the suppressants caused."
"That doesn't sound promising."
"It's better than wasting away on the pills," he rebutted.
A tense silence filled between us before Chase continued.
"Of course, I'd need you to wean off of it. As much as I'd like you to go cold turkey, I'll lower the doses over the next couple of weeks and we'll monitor it from there."
He huffed before turning to Simon who had barely moved an inch.
"I understand if you don't want to go through with this, he's quite insufferable."
I rolled my eyes, talk shit all you want Chase, this wasn't going to work out.
After everything that's happened and all the time that's passed, there was no way that Simon would willingly stay by my side.
Everybody seemed so interested in what he wanted but what about me?
Nobody asked what I wanted.
Simon had let out a shaky breath before looking up at Chase, the first time he had looked up the whole conversation.
He was training his eyes directly at him, still avoiding me at all costs.
It was just like the other day I had bumped into him with Michael.
It was the first time he had looked at me directly, even though it was for maybe a fraction of a second before he jerked away and of course, he leaned into my brother like he did at the council meeting, clutching at his sleeve like he needed to be protected from me.
It annoyed me to no end and Michael's God-awful smirk he gave me as they walked away with his arm around Simon made it ten times worse.
That bastard was doing it to piss me off and watching as Simon did anything but spare me a glance was getting on my nerves.
Wasn't this what he wanted.
"Simon," Chase prompted, as Simon breathed heavily as his body slightly tremored.
"Seriously, if you don't want to, no one is forcing you. You're welcome to take the suppressants if it'll help you, of course at a lower dose until you feel comfortable."
He shook his head before taking a deep breath, then replied...
"Is it true, what you just said?"
Chase tilt his head.
Simon gulped before asking again...
"About his wolf? Is his wolf dying?"
"Yes," he answered.
Simon sucked in a breath before looking back down again.
Chase continued...
"But not dead. It's no guarantee but you may be the only one to help his wolf recover."
Simon didn't reply but his brows creased as if thinking hard about what he said.
"Well?" Chase asked calmly.
"Will you consider being near him? Living with him, perhaps?"
Surely, Simon wouldn't be stupid enough to believe Chase's bullshit.
Simon, in a quiet voice, replied.
"I want to."
My brows shot up, turning my whole body towards him as he insisted on refusing to even glance towards me. I couldn't believe my ears.
Him, of all people.
My brother's idiocy seemed to rub off on him.
"Of course you do," I said incredulously.
"Hell, you're probably loving how close we're sitting."
Chase cleared his throat.
"Vince..."
"No," I held up a hand to him before trying to meet his eyes, only for him to look away.
"Do go on... tell me how you're so willing to just jump in my arms. After all, you've been waited for so long for this."
Simon let out a shaky breath, his eyes fluttering, before keeping it shut.
"God. You can't even fucking look at me," I snapped.
"Like hell you could go through with this."
"Vince," Chase warned as he shook his head at me.
"What? I'm not wrong. Look at him, he's cowering like a baby deer."
Chase slammed his hand down on the table, which made both of us jump.
"And who's fault is that?"
Well, that shut me up.
Chase hardly ever got heated like that 'doctor's etiquette' he called it.
He had his opinions for sure but he seldom acted on it.
Some time passed before I heard Simon shuffle in his seat, turning towards me ever so slightly.
I watched as he seemed to battle something in his mind, staring at his hand before looking back down at the table.
Almost smirking at his inner struggles, he suddenly reached his hand out, successfully shocking me and Chase, as he grasped my forearm tightly in his hand.
He let out a short, almost inaudible whimper from the physical contact and what the bond was probably doing to him but I was too busy focusing on the way he seemed to work up whatever courage he had to lift his head to meet my gaze.
The bastard had really done it, he was actually looking at me.
Who would've imagined?
At first, it held the same fear, the deer in the headlights look, dilated pupils, his brows raised and mouth agape, until he shut it, narrowing his eyes, almost as if glaring at me.
It had been the longest direct eye contact he held with me and possibly with anyone.
His hand was cold to the touch and as soon as he had grabbed it, he almost released it immediately but he held my arm tighter, squeezing it like he did with Michael's shirt sleeve.
"I-I'll do it."
He blinked before focusing, an intense look in his face, far different from the typical fearful, doe-like eyes I was used to.
"I want to try."
What the hell were we getting ourselves into?

I did a "how not to be a transphobic piece of shit" training for about 130 summer camp staff a few years ago, and as far as I heard and observed, it was pretty effective! If you wanna use any of the methods I went with, please do.
The staff came in groups of maybe 30-40, and I only had them for about 45 minutes. We could have spent much longer on this, and I wish we had- we also ended up going over time with every single group. My bad 🙃
The basic idea was to teach folks how to think about these issues critically, rather than just telling them what to do, so it was very question and discussion-oriented. It went like this:
1. Everyone broke up into groups of 5-ish and talked about some basic terminology: did they recognize it? What did it mean, or what did they think it meant? I went with "transphobia", "transmisogyny", "nbphobia/exorsexism", and "transandrophobia", because this group already knew basic terms like "cisgender".
2. We came back together as a whole group and shared a bit about what folks discussed, while transitioning into the meat of the training session: we went through each term together, defined it, and then talked about some examples and common tropes/underlying ideas for each one. We always started with their ideas and thoughts ("What do you know about this term?", "What do you know about how transmisogyny looks or sounds? What guesses can you make?"), and then I would add things I felt were important in a conversational way as we went.
This was my favorite part of the sessions, honestly. A lot of progressive, trans-allied cis people don't know anything about transphobia beyond some surface-level "respect people's pronouns" stuff, and this was a really great way of helping them learn how to notice when people were being transphobic in sneakier, or even accidental ways: like infantilisation of nonbinary folks and transmascs, painting transfems as aggressive, invisibility/erasure, and degendering. I also dropped in some statistics to ground in systemic issues trans people are facing.
This was also a great place in the conversation to drop in useful, but maybe less necessary terms like "bio-essentialism". I don't think it's super important that people remember these words, or all the words we started with either, but I chose to use them because the frameworks they come with are helpful to understanding transphobia in a deeper and more useful way. You don't need to know what every flavor of transphobia is called, but understanding that it can look different for different groups of trans folks is super useful.
3. We talked about what we could do to support trans folks in the space. Respecting pronouns is great, but what do you do if someone else messes up a trans person's pronouns? Should you correct them? How should you do that? How can you address transphobia in a space? What about material changes, like gendered bathrooms?
This was probably the most important part of the training, and if you take nothing else from this, I really recommend taking this. Getting them to brainstorm ideas for actionable support of trans folks that is relevant to the space is a powerful way of getting people to think and act on their own. Make it a problem they can help to solve, and empower them to solve it!
There is also an organization that basically does exactly this- educates healthcare professionals on transgender health and stuff. It's called WPATH, and they have some resources on their website that might be helpful.
I hope any of this is anything, lmao. Good luck!!
hey, since you're answering asks, could i ask a favor of you and your followers?
I'm giving a presentation to a couple hundred nurses in a few months about trans healthcare, basically telling them how not to be a transphobic piece of shit, but i don't have a lot of ideas. if any of your followers have anything they'd like to say in my position, could they chime in? they can also send me asks if they want!
thank you so much if you decide to publish this ❤️‍🔥
For sure, I'll post it! That's such an amazing thing you're doing!
Hopefully, you get some good responses. And good luck when the time comes! I know you'll do fantastic.

Tumblr media
summary: two old rotary phones begin the connection between two souls. One from the past and another from the future.

-inspired by the movie "The Lake House"

But fun fact this was originally longer but I rewrote and condensed it b/c I thought it was too long for just a one shot lost media typa beat. honestly i don't think i wrote this right but fuck it we ball. I recommend reading this with the saddest song you have bookmarked. Enjoy!~
Tumblr media
"Hmmm...Well you got some personality to you.” You mumbled, staring at the old red vintage rotary phone sitting in front of you. How did you come to achieve this old relic of time? Well in short terms, you liked to think about it like an equation.
Old attic + mischievous white cat = you adventuring to go find said cat and to your dismay, said cat scares the living ever hell out of you making you lose balance and fall backwards into endless towers of boxes.
Fun times right?
Those bruises weren't gonna be….
But that was the least of your problems at the moment. As expected, the rotary phone suddenly started to ring, shaking and clicking in itself, making you sigh in disappointment. Grabbing the phone, you yanked it up to your ear “Hey, yeah I don’t think this is gonna work.” You deadpanned “Now we know that we're always gonna be connected, what is this? The 5th time?"
"Damn and I thought you hanging up would’ve solved the problem. I don't think we could connect with anyone else though! I asked the farmer about it and he had no idea!" Chirped the male on the other side of the line.
Of course! It sounded like a normal conversation between two individuals but even Einstein himself would've been baffled at these circumstances. Imagine this, you find an old phone and you had been playfully talking into it until a voice actually responds without it being connected. Strange right? And no, you were sure you hadn't been seeing any strange figures on the sides of your vision.
Now here you were, trying to figure out what the fuck was going on alongside the man who had introduced himself as Vash The Stampede.
"21st century my ass, Google isn't doing shit!"
"Wait hold on now, did you just say 21st?"
"Yeah? Something wrong?"
"Uh well.. It's just that its actually the 32nd century."
You blink a few times "No, it's not. My calender literally says it's the 21st century. It's general knowledge."
"No I'm pretty sure its the 32nd century!" Vash snapped back.
Silence filled the air on both sides.
"WAIT A MINUTE-"
And thats how the unknown man from the future and you hit it off.
After this discovery, the two of you talked on the phone for a while, sharing things about each of your own time periods. And you slowly found yourself enjoying the conversations you would have with Vash who you soon found out, was pretty goofy in his own way, but kind. And unknowingly, Vash felt the same way.
What was an accidental and odd situation turned into practically an everyday thing for the both of you now.
After work, you always looked forwards to that red phone on your nightstand until one day, you decided to decorate it with cute little stickers because why not?
After all, it was fasinating to hear things about the future. Sometimes you'd laugh at the way Vash described it, like something out of an old wild west movie.
"It's all just desert! Really!" He groaned out as you chuckled, holding the phone to your ear with your shoulder as you put books and CD's away on your bookshelf "At least you can make some cool sandcastles or something!"
"With what water?"
"Your tears." Snorting, you listen on as he whined through the receiver. "Hey but just imagine me helping you build them! Makes it hurt less."
Vash let out a exaggerating sigh "But seriously, it's not always sunny were you live?" He asked curiously.
"Nope!" You smiled, slipping one of your favorite books into place "It changes every so often really. Depending on the season." You hummed out, looking out the window to your right to see the drenching rain down with its spring showers.
"Season?"
"Sometimes it rains and sometimes it gets super cold. Other days it just gets too hot and if we're lucky, we get days with perfect temperatures. Its never the same but I guess that's the beauty to it here. Every day is a new sight no one could really get tired of. "
Or a new headache.
Vash stayed quiet on the line, and you imagined how he looked like deep in thought. Eyebrows furrowed, his supposed pointy blonde hair messily spread out across his pillow, and eyes as blue as the sky looking up at the ceiling in concentration.
…Okayyy that’s enough out of you.
He didn't say the eye part himself but you liked to ponder on the idea.
"That sounds beautiful.."
And to that, you smiled. "Yeah, it kinda is."
But something in your head made you stop and look down at the book you had in hand, unsure if you wanted to say anything.
"Hey Vash.."
"Yeah?"
"I'm sorry that I'm the only person you could really reach with this thing. I know you really wanted to talk to your friends.."
"Why are you apologizing? It's not everyday I talk to someone from the past! From even before No Mans Land!”
You sigh and slip the final book away to which Vash adds in one more sentence. "And even if you weren't, I like talking to you."
You scoff in good humor "You're lying blonde."
"NO I"M NOT!" Vash gasps out dramatically "Oh how you hurt me so!"
"Hardy har har." You chuckled, shoving a box of things you wanted stored away in the corner of your room. "At least I know I'm speaking to someone as beautiful as the nightsky!" He huffed out trying to sound manlier.
“Yeah? Now how could you tell that?"
"Because I know a pretty and kind soul when I hear it."
E-Excuse me?
Your face flushes red "Alright cowboy are you trying to soften me up?"
"Pftttttt nooooooo~"
Your conversations never ceased to end, and when talking to Vash about practically everything, it felt...comforting. To know there was someone to listen to your struggles, and listen to his own. It felt so intimate.
Sharing about your life on Earth, the things you do and him speaking about his own life and travels around his home planet.
One day, Vash and you had been talking for the night and he mentioned something that gave you a sense of familiarity.
PROJECT SEEDS.
A large project that's been reported on the news for more than a few months now so of course you caught onto that. You've watched their segment on TV before. Something about bringing life to other planets?
You knew the Earth was dying, scientists had announced that someday in the nearing future, the very sun that shone down on you, would destroy you. But did that really matter to you anymore?
The project had been accepting registrations for boarding their new ship incase it happened. Your sister got to register in time but you had been too late. All the slots were filled.
That was a very odd day to say the least.
But that didn't stop you from speaking to Vash.
"Vash, do you ever think you'll see me in the future?" You pondered one night as you were cuddled up in your blankets, the cold being unbearable this winter season.
"Well, I hope so. Sometimes it gets tiring speaking into a thing of metal and plastic hehe.." You could practically hear him playfully grin through the receiver.
You gripped the handle of the phone tight as tears threatened to leave the corner of your eyes.
"I hope I get to see you one day Vash.."
He went quiet for a moment.
"I do too.."
That night, you slept with the phone held to your chest as the fluttering feeling in your stomach never ceased. And you didn't want it to.
Vash had made it a routine to call you every night at exactly midnight to check in on how you were since he couldn't really do it in person either way. And every time he called, it felt as if he heard your voice for the first time all over again. The warmth in his chest made him smile when you answered the phone with the nervous pitch in your voice.
"Vash?"
He found it theraputic to listen as you talked about your day, the normalicy and peace No Man's Land and that his own life had lacked.
Hanging out with friends, reading in libraries, and more.
How he loved it.. Hearing you speak so fondly, so excited, it felt refreshing to Vash.
You were full of life
And Vash wouldn’t trade it for anything.
With every time you spoke his name, he felt like melting into a puddle. He just wanted to hear you repeat his name over and over again, and no, he'll never get tired of it. He could spend an eternity laying in the dusty bed of the farmer’s home just listening to your voice. Listening to your worries, your hopes, and the momentary jokes you would tell him.
But as the days passed, after one full year and a half of the two of you speaking over the old rotary phone, you answered the phone one night with a change clear to Vash. You sounded so weak, so sickly and out of breath.
"Are you alright?" He asked, hearing loud shuffling and things falling on the other line.
"I-I'm fine!" You coughed out as Vash peeked out the old wooden window in the room he was staying in, spotting Wolfwood and the broadcasting girls waiting for him to join them.
"Are you sure?" He breathed out in honest concern, feeling his fingers fiddling with the hem of his sleeve.
"I'm fine Vash, seriously." Your voice weakly echoed through the receiver "Just a little sick, that's all.."
"Please make sure to get some rest okay? I'll ring you when I come back."
"Promise?"
"I promise lov-" Vash caught himself, quickly shutting his mouth.
"Hm?" You hummed out in question.
"Sorry a fly got caught in my throat! Hahaha!" He played off before sighing.
"Take care of yourself, for me okay?"
"I will, I will.." Before Vash put the phone back onto the base, you said one more thing.
"Love you." And with that, the familiar ding of the phone receiver on the other line rang through Vash's ear, signifiying the end of the call.
And Vash was left in utter silence and awe. Love. Love you said. Him?
A fond expression instinctively grew on his face, yet the churning feeling in his stomach wasn't one of butterflies, but one of dread. He couldn't help but leave with the gut feeling that something was wrong.
When Vash returned back to his room and picked up the phone at the same time the two of you would call each other at every day, there was no reponse.
He called your name and no sound came out of the other end. So he put the phone back down onto the base and lifted it back up again to his ear as the same dread slowly seeped into his chest. The room was starting to feel a bit more heavier than usual.
"Hello?" He breathed out nervously as he felt his forehead start to sweat.
"Come on.." He muttered to himself worriedly. Maybe you weren't home in time and had gone to the doctor. Yeah, maybe that's the reason. So Vash left the phone alone for the night for the first time but the prodding feeling in his chest didn't leave.
He tried the next night.
No response.
Maybe you had stayed over your parents' for the day.
He kept the phone by him whilst he napped, waiting for the ring of the phone to wake him up like an alarm, but that didn't come.
He tried the next night, the next night, and continued for the next 3 months until finally.
One night, Vash just stared at the old red phone that hadn’t rung since that day, anticipating at least one final call, one last goodbye from you. Sitting on the bed side, he kept his eyes on the phone until finally Vash couldn’t hold it anymore and cried. Clear waters falling down his cheeks as he tightly held the phone to his chest in desperation.
Did you forget about him?
Did you find the love of your life and decided not to bother with him anymore?
'Come back.'
'Dont leave me please.'
'I love you."
'Please speak to me.'
The string of desparate thoughts ran through his mind as the burning sensation grew in his chest. He can't breathe. He gasped for air as his quiet wails filled the night.
Don't go.
The morning after Vash permanently left the farmer's residence. Of course, he took the phone along too, incase you ever decided to ring back but to Vash's dismay, it never did.
And Vash thought back to you, from time to time, stil wondering if you remembered about the red phone that sat in your room and the idiot blonde on the other side of it.
2 years had passed since that night, and both Vash and the gang found themselves in the city of Augusta for their annual merchant gathering, an event in which all the merchants from around the planet come and trade their valuables or tools in a big, single event.
Crowds of people flooded the streets as the stands were all surrounded to the brim. Vash had been walking beside Wolfwood, who was talking about some bounty hunters causing trouble around when something red caught his eye from an stand that they had walked past, causing Vash to stop in his tracks. Eyes widening in realization, he rushed over to the stall, leaving Wolfwood in the dust.
"H-Hey where are you going!?!" Wolfwood called out but Vash ignored him. His leather clothed hands slammed down on the stall table, the young man who managed the stall yelping in surprise.
"H-HOW CAN I HELP YOU?!" The man nervously shouted out as Vash reached over and picked up a very familiar red rotary phone "Where did you get this!?" He exclaimed in urgency. "How'd you get this!?"
"I-I-" The young man quickly cleared his throat and regained his composure at the sudden burst from the tall blonde-spiked haired man.
"It's a very old device! Back during the old days according to my great-grandmother!"
Vash looked down at the red phone, very dusty but he was able to make out the sticker decorations and doodles that were scattered around on it. Inspecting it more, he turned it around to the back and saw something melancholic.
"12:00 PM Midnight" was written on the back of the base with black marker. The time the two of you would call each other every night those years ago.
"Sorry, is.. is there anyone I could talk to about this?" Vash apologized, giving the young man a somber smile as he held the phone to himself, as if someone were going to rip it away from his grasp.
The man observed Vash for a moment, before nodding and giving Vash directions to his great-grandmother's home, right outside the border of Augusta.
"There you are!" Wolfwoods' voice rang out angrily behind him "The hell did you see now?!"
Vash turned to Wolfwood and simply gave him a smile "We're gonna be paying a visit."
It didn't take long to reach the old worn down home and greet the owner of the property, a small old lady to which surprised Wolfwood that she hadn't kicked the bucket yet.
Vash, of course, elbowed him in the rib for that one.
Seeing the phone in Vash's arms, the lady let out a small smile "My, I haven't seen that phone since I was a child..." She quickly showed Vash and Wolfwood inside, explaining how the phone came to be here.
"According to my grandfather, our lineage began with two sibilngs who were born and raised on Earth. When Earth neared its end, the daughter of the family was able to escape whilst the other sibling unknowingly stayed behind on Earth."
The old lady snapped her fingers to Wolfwood and waved him over "Be a dear for me and put this on the table."
Watching Wolfwood put a very old and deteriorating box on the table, the lady continued.
"Well, the sibling died before the daughter left Earth, so in attempt to preserve her family's memories, the daughter took some of her siblings' things, something to remember them by."
The old lady points to the phone in Vash's arm "That was one of them. And here-" The lady patted on side of the box "-are the things she was able to take with her. Check them out yourself." She softly motioned Vash to come closer with her frail, wrinkled hand.
Hesitating for just a second, he took slow and steady steps towards the box, biting the inside of his cheek in attempt to not just cry.
Damn, he sure felt like a cry baby these days.
Putting the phone down besides the box, Vash reached into the box and pulled out various things. Old shirts, CDs, a wallet, wired headphones, books, and something he never thought he'd ever see in fine print that made his breath hitch.
A colored photo I.D and on the side of it, your full name printed in black.
It was you.
These were your things, these shirts you've worn, the CDs you've listened to, the wallet you used in your day-to-day life, but he kept his eyes on the I.D.
Vash stared at your photo, the features you've described to him once were in his hands, proof of your existence.
He couldn't hold it anymore, how could he? Silent tears ran down his face as the small giggles he let out, turned into full on laughter.
He laughed and laughed whilst holding the I.D close to his heart.
You didn't purposely leave him.
You hadn’t meant to.
The same gracious laughter morphed into sobs as he grabbed everything he had taken out of the box, and enveloped them tightly into his arms.
This was the first time he was able to physically feel you, even if you weren't there yourself. He wished the smell of the favorite perfume you had gotten one day had still lingered onto your shirts, he wished he could've shared and listened to your favorite music alongside you. And he wished you were beside him, looking through all these things with him. He wanted to hear you reminsce your past and your present again.
Oh he wished.
Vash spent hours at the old ladies' home, looking and observing every single one of your belongings. There were some he remembered you talking to him about, and others he didn't recognize.
But it was time for him to leave and Vash knew it.
Looking up at the sky outside, he softly smiled, caressing the small compartment he had your I.D pocketed in.
"C'mon needle-noggin. Time to get your ass moving!" Wolfwood shouted ahead of him.
Letting out a large exhale, Vash muttered out a few words before running to catch up with the priest "Wait up!"
Behind him, two objects were left behind in the sand, placed neatly besides a metal nameplate.
The two red cherry rotary phones glistened in the sun, one filled with stickers and the other covered in dirt and scuff marks as your name plate, that had been cleaned of any dirt or scratches, continued to sit in peace as the windy breeze passed on by.
"I'll live on. For the both of us."

Age 5
“Okay class, go pick your buddy now” the kids immediately ran to their friends to find their partners, meanwhile you stay seated on your chair. Too shy to even talk to your seatmate who is now standing with her buddy from across the room.
The teacher notices your eyes darting around the room, your lips quivering and hands toying with each other under the table. She was just about to approach you when suddenly one of the boys skipped over to you, “Hey you! Why are you sitting here alone” he asks
“Because this is my chair” you answer, looking up at the boy with curly hair and tanned cheeks
“Do you have a buddy?” you shook your head at him, earning a gleaming smile from the boy
“Okay, then I’ll be your buddy”
He didn’t give you a chance to say no, not that you even had the courage to, all you knew was you earned yourself your class buddy named Lee Donghyuck.
Age 12
“We should head back Hyuck! Your mom will get mad at us!” you tell him for the 5th time, meanwhile the boy was still too busy playing on the swing set
“5 more minutes”
“But your mom said we should be back before dinner” you stomped your feet on the ground, feeling annoyed yet again. Your friend had a knack at defying orders and most of the times he takes you down with him, which means if he gets in trouble you also get in trouble
“It’s not dinner yet, the sun is still up dummy” Hyuck answers, looking up the sky then back at you
Rolling your eyes at him, you turned your back and started to walk away from him. Not even a few steps away you could already hear him chasing after you, “Yah! don’t leave me here, I told your mom I was going to walk you homr” he takes your hand in his, an action so innocent and natural between the two of you but your mother’s always gush about how cute you would look together.
He walks with you in tow, his steps a bit bigger than yours. You always complain to him about how your legs are shorter than his so he should walk slower, of course instead of solving it normally like you suggested Hyuck instead walks behind you and pushes you infront of him urging you to walk faster. Ever since then you learned not complain out loud.
Age 18
“Since when did Haechan looked that cute? Yah why didn’t you tell me your bestfriend is hot? Does he have a girlfriend?” your friend asks you but you didn’t give her a single answer. Not that she’s even paying attention to you. She’s already screaming again, your school’s soccer team leading with 2 points.
The only reason you’re braving the cold cold night breeze was busy leading the team into victory. You watch the number 06 run across the field, hearing his occasional screams at his teammates telling them which direction to go. Even with all the sweat, your friend is right. He did look cute. Which makes you think back to her question, since when did Haechan looked that cute?
Your answer, one you would never tell him straight to his face: he’s always been cute. To you, Hyuck looked like a cute cuddly bear and sometimes he looks like the guy you would daydream about to take you to prom as his date.
Does he have a girlfriend? no, he’s too busy playing the role of star player, class president and life of the party to even think about that. His words not yours.
It’s not the first time you’re asked about his relationship status, it’s a fact known across campus that you’re Haechan’s bestfriend. It’s also pretty obvious since he’s always seen stuck by your side pretty much all the time, that is if he’s not away bothering Renjun.
The loud cheers from your schoolmates shook you out of your thoughts, your attention returning to the game happening in front of you. Coincidentally Hyuck was standing near where you were sitting, the ball was on the farther side of the field, you can spot Jeno and another player from the other team chasing it while Hyuck watches from your side of the field.
As if he could feel your gaze at him, he looks over the bleachers quickly spotting you in the sea of students. His letterman jacket making you look tinier, he chuckles to himself just thinking about how cute you looked.
The other girls hoping the star player looks at them, but little did they know he’s all eyes for you. Tapping his chest where his heart would be thrice, a signal only you would understand. He said he’ll do it to let you know he saw you and that you should keep your eyes on him,
“Aren’t you sounding a bit too cocky? What if I wanted to watch Jeno?” you jokingly asked him, “Then don’t even think about coming”
You laugh at him, the boy just glares at you. “Should I do something too?”
“Shoot me a kiss like this” taking his hand to his lips before blowing it over to you, this time it’s your turn to glare at him.
“You know what, maybe you’re right I just won’t watch your game”
Tapping the center of your forehead thrice, signaling you saw him. He smirks before turning his attention back to the game, leading the team to another victory.
As always you stay back while you wait for him, the rest of the students started to go their own ways for the night. Most of them on their way out to celebrate while others on their way home.
You rest your back on the lockers, hearing some shouts from inside the locker room. Even from the outside you can easily distinguish your bestfriend’s voice, mainly because he’s literally screaming right now.
A couple more minutes passed, you were getting more bored. Looking down at your feet to see one of your shoelaces untied. Just when you’re about to crouch down, someone beat you to it. A mop of brown hair blocking the view of your shoe,
“How many times do I have to tell you, double tie your shoelaces. I can’t be there all the time to do it for you” Hyuck tells you as he ties it back for you, standing back up when he’s done and tapping you on the nose twice
“Took you long enough, why were you screaming bloody murder in there?” you ask him while the two of you walk towards the exit, “I poured a bottle of cold water over Jeno, then he poured the whole jug if ice water on me”
“Deserved”
He bumps his shoulders on yours making you wobble over the side, but he quickly pulls you back by the arm “You’re so mean to me, here I was about to treat you out for dinner”
“Aren’t you going to celebrate with them?” usually they have a party or atleast a dinner out after games, “I’ve been with them the entire month, let me have my moment with you” you chuckle at his reason, not thinking too much of it.
“You love them”
“I love you more”
“In that you have no choice, you literally picked me out of the bunch” you tell him, Hyuck just laughs at the memory of your childhood. Giving his 6 year old self a pat on the head for gathering the courage to talk to you because he thought you were the cutest one in class. Not that he ever admitted that outloud.
“Exactly, so you’re stuck with me whether you like it or not” He opens the passenger door of his car to let you in before jogging over the driver’s side, “Dinner?”
“Please don’t say you want to eat kimchi stew again” you look over at him, the boy doing the same. Neither of you looking away for a few more seconds, a silent bet already happening,
“Fine! but you’re buying me ice cream after” Hyuck throws a punch in the air before starting the car, As promised he did buy you ice cream after dinner, talking about the game while he drives you home
“My friend was asking me if you had a girlfriend”
“Oh that again, what did you say?”
“I didn’t say anything” you mumble, pulling the sleeves of his jacket over your hands since it got colder. Noticing your action, Hyuck turns the heater higher.
“You could’ve just said you’re my girlfriend”
“I’m not doing that again, Jaemin hasn’t stopped teasing me since that” recalling that one time he made you say you’re his girlfriend to make that one girl stop asking him out. Jaemin teased you all week after that, even making kissy noises whenever the two of you were around.
“What’s so bad about dating me?”
You didn’t answer immediately because he’s right, what’s so bad about dating him? he’s funny, he’s smart, he can be a pain in the ass but his intentions are always on the good side. He’s very considerate of people around him, and even though he likes to tease his closest friends you know he’s the first person you’d call if you needed help.
“One, you’re my bestfriend”
“So? friends can’t date each other? I’d date you”
“Okay, filter please.” your eyes almost popping out of its sockets when you heard him say that
“What? It’s true. If I don’t get married by 30, can we just agree to marry each other?” not sure if he’s joking or not, he didn’t sound like he was.
“Do I even have a say in this?”
“Say yes”
“You’re being very weird, first you said you’d date me now you’re asking me to marry you? It’ll take more than dinner for me to say yes” you chose you indulge him this time, your bestfriend chuckling at you. You didn’t even notice you’re already parked outside your house when he turned to look over at you
“Okay, would you like to go out on a date?”
“With you?” you blinked at him, waiting for him to say he’s just kidding or it’s all a joke but he just stared back at you waiting for an answer
“Oh my god you’re not joking”
“Do I look like I’m joking?” he asks, pointing at his face
“You’re always joking”
“Not this time, so do you want to go on a date with me?”
Unlike when you were kids, he’s now giving you the chance to say yes or no. But the answer was clear, it always has been. Deep down you knew he’s the guy you liked, if anybody were to ask you to describe your ideal guy you’ll just list down all of his qualities without meaning to. Hyuck’s your person the same way you are his.
Age 23
“This is your what? Fifth anniversary?” Renjun asks, you’re having dinner out with your friends. A tradition you promised to carry on after high school when you all went your different ways for college.
“I think so”
“You’re not sure?” Jeno asks, “They were pretty much dating since they were six, remember Haechan said Y/N looked cute with her ribbon that day we were asked to pick out our class buddies”
“You thought I looked cute?” you turned to look at your boyfriend/bestfriend to see him glaring at Jaemin, this was news to you. Hyuck turns to you, a fond look on his face instead of the glare he sent Jaemin
“What else do I have to lose, you’re already my girlfriend. Yes I did” you can hear Jaemin squeal from his seat, hitting Jeno on the arms multple times while Renjun fake gags
“Did you know she had a crush on you sophomore year?” You hear Jeno say, this time you’re the one sending a glare at your friend. You can feel Hyuck’s gaze on the side of your face, “Did you now?” he asks you
“I did not!”
“You said he looked cute” Jeno said confidently while Jaemin adds, “I heard her say that too”
“Oh my god, was that why you were sulking during the dance? because he didn’t ask you to be his first dance?” Renjun asks loudly, looking back and forth between you and Hyuck
You were being corned by everyone, not knowing what else to say so you just blurted out the truth you’ve been keeping ever since
“And what if I was? I’m the one dating him now” this made everyone on the table cheer laugh meanwhile your boyfriend just looks at you, turning to look at him
“What?” you mumble
“Nothing, you just look so cute right now”
“Okay, enough with that. You can do that after dinner please”
The rest of dinner went by, sharing stories of your memories together. It was fun to catch up with everyone. When it was time to go, the two of you decided to walk around for a while.
“You could’ve just told me you had a crush on me” you hear Hyuck say from beside you, already expecting him to tease you about it. You’re suprised he held out this long.
“It wasn’t a crush, I just thought you were cute that day and Jaemin just so happened to be the one who heard me”
“And that night of the dance?”
“I thought my bestfriend was going to ask me to dance with him first since you know he was the one who asked me to come. I only came to that stupid dance because you asked me” you told him, a pout forming on your lips as you recall that memory. Meanwhile Hyuck just smiles at you,
“I was too shy to ask you”
“You? Shy?” you looked up him, not expecting him to say that
“Yea, there were a lot of cute guys in our class. Some of them even had a crush on you” again, some of this were new news to you. You were always hanging out with him or the other guys to even notice that.
“They did? why?”
“What do you mean why? Baby, have you seen you? You’re like the prettiest girl in our grade”
“I think you’re forgetting Jimin was in our class” you chuckle, it was a nice compliment but you know for a fact that she was the prettiest girl in your class.
“To me, you were. You’ve always been. When I hear guys from the team or in our class talk about asking you out, I always get this sudden fear you’d say yes to them and forget about me”
You listen to him, your heart turning into mush at your boyfriend’s words.
“Not that I wanted to keep you away from them, of course I wasn’t going to make that decision for you. You could’ve dated whoever you wanted to. Then I think about how none of them will ever treat you the way you deserve, how none of them knew you hated mayonnaise on anything, or how much you love chocolates during that time of the month, or how easily you get cold or how you like your coffee. I listed all those things they didn’t know about you, all the things only I knew, things only you told me”
He stares down at you with so much love, a look you’ve grown familiar with throughout the years.
“I realized I wanted to be guy who deserves you”
“And you are” you smile up at him, standing on your tip toes to kiss him on his chin. Feeling his arm snake around your waist, pulling you infront of him
“Good thing you said yes that day” he mumbles
“When you asked me out on a date?” you asked back, he just shook his head with a smile on. Kissing you on the forehead, then on your nose, then both of your cheeks
“That day when we were in preschool, when I asked you to be my buddy in class”
“Technically, you didn’t ask me to be your buddy. You just asked me if I had one then the thing you were declaring yourself to be buddy”
“Same thing, tomato tomato potato potato”
You roll your eyes at his antics. You know though you won’t have it any other way, your answer will always be the same.
His lips rest against your forehead, feeling him kiss you thrice. Your hand that was resting on his chest, tapping him gently three times where his heart would be.

Office Surprises
Pairing: Miranda Priestly x Reader
Genre: Fluff
Warnings: None
Word Count: 1k
Summary: After a very long business trip you finally get to see your beautiful dragon.
A/N: Well well well, we meet again. Honestly, this wouldn't be a thing if it wasn't for the anon on my tellonym who gave me this idea and talked about Miranda with me. This is for you, you wonderful human being 😊
Tumblr media
––––––––––
You sighed as your plane finally landed.
Home sweet home.
It's been 2 years since you've been in New York; 2 years since you've held the love of your life and her little twin terrors.
It wasn't supposed to take this long. You thought the managers of your company branch in L.A. were actually competent. However, starting a new branch of a new company did have some issues, especially if that branch was on the other side of the Country.
When you first told Miranda about your trip she understood completely and encouraged you to build your ever growing empire. When you told her that it would take at least a year to solve issues you could see a flash of fear pass over her features. You knew of her worries about losing you and you were quick to reassure her that you would do everything in your power to come back home to her as quickly as possible. With the three hour time difference, you two planned out a calling schedule where you would video call each other at least twice a day.
The year of video calls turned into two years. You could slowly see and hear Miranda getting exhausted by the distance between you two. You heard from Nigel that Miranda was more fiery at work and that she fired at least five people the day you told her that you might need to be away for another year. Through catching up with Nigel, you interrupted him and told him of your plans of coming home. "Are you really? It's not nice to tease a dying man here Y/n/n."
You chuckled as you shook your head, "Yes Nige I'm actually coming home. I was actually planning on surprising our lovely Editor."
"Trust me, she was surprised when she knew she wanted to court me. She'll be happy about this surprise."
"Surprise? You know Miranda doesn't do surprises Y/n/n."
~~~~~~~~
Roy had dropped you off in front of the Elias-Clarke building after promising you to take your luggage home and come right back.
Not so subtly you panned the area around you as you knew that you didn't want to be seen by your dragon. After determining that the coast was clear, you promptly made your way into Miranda's outer office.
You couldn't help but smile as you took in the building looming over you. Your Miranda was in there. You were so close.
Bidding the security guards a good afternoon, you made your way into your own elevator and checked the time on your phone. Nigel said that Miranda would be in a meeting until 1 and it was 12:55. Beforehand you had Nigel to slip you in on Miranda's schedule as a very generous donator who needed to speak to the Editor.
As you came off of the elevator you could feel the butterflies in your stomach start zooming around. You couldn't help but feel giddy knowing that you'll see the love of your life in a few minutes. It's been 2 years. 2 of them.
~~~~~~~~
"That's all."
The white-haired editor picked up The Book and exited the conference room.
These past two years without her Y/n have been testing her patience even more so than usual but she couldn't help it. Y/n was her rock. Y/n would be there to hold her after a trying day at the office, to cook dinner for her, to keep her company as she went over The Book, to cuddle with her as they fell asleep. Although, at the end of the day, she understood that sacrifices needed to be made in order to climb the business ladder as she did so many years ago. She just couldn't help but miss her other half.
She kept a brisk pace as she walked down the halls. Out of the corner of her eyes she could see her employees avoiding her line of vision and scurry off to do whatever task they've been slacking on, scared to think that they'd be the next one in line to be unemployed.
As Nigel was on Miranda's tail, the editor was warning him about the mistakes made in The Book from the night before as well as Jocelyn's lack of readiness for the past two run-throughs and although Miranda couldn't see him, he nodded dutifully and responded in the usual 'Yes Miranda' or 'Of course Miranda'
Just as they reached the threshold of Miranda's outer office, Nigel stopped abruptly as he almost bumped into his boss. Miranda, however, was as still as a rock.
She couldn't believe what she was seeing.
How?
Why?
Is she dreaming?
Was Y/n really here?
Andy was just telling you that Miranda would be here shortly before you heard heels stop at the entrance to the outer office. Both you and Andrea turned to see a wide eyed editor and an amused Nigel.
"Miranda your one o'clock is here," you smiled cheekily and that seemed to break Miranda's trance.
"Darling..." Miranda whispered, her eyes wide with disbelief.
Before you could blink, Miranda was in your arms and brought you into a bruising kiss. Miranda used both of her hands to grip the back of your neck as she tried to pull you impossibly closer. You sighed into the kiss as the editor let out an almost inaudible whimper. Even after you two parted for air Miranda kept giving you small pecks before she hugged you fully, her head buried in your shoulder.
Unknown to the two of you, both Emily and Andy watched the scene with shock. Emily choked on air, gaping like a fish while Andy just looked on with wide eyes. They didn't know what to do. They wanted to look away but if they did, they wouldn't believe what was happening but even with looking at the couple they still couldn't believe their eyes.
Miranda Priestly kissed and held her lover in the Runway offices in front of other people.
Nigel shook his head in amusement at the two assistants. Miranda and you weren't out publicly yet so of course the two assistants were malfunctioning at the editor being so loving and open. Honestly, being in the fashion industry, having a gay editor-in-chief shouldn't be all that surprising.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~
"Your actions jeopardised the whole mission." Steve said sternly before raising his voice when he saw he received no reaction from you or the redhead. "Whatever is going on between you has to stop!"
"You say that like it's ever been any different." Natasha added.
The pair that usually felt like the protective big brother and sister of the team where acing the role of disappointed parents. Admittedly that did make you feel bad, but Wanda showed no signs of giving an apology and you would be damned if you did first.
Natasha and Steve waited for any kind of response from either of you and got nothing. You and Wanda continued to glare at each other from opposite sides of the table, your stubnorness stopping either of you from looking at the two standing at the head of the table.
"Just write up your reports." Steve sighed, giving into the tension of the room before anyone else. If it had been just you, Wanda and Natasha there was no telling how long you'd be in there.
You both got up from the table at the same time, still refusing to break eye contact.
"Y/n stay behind a minute." Oh so they're switching it up to disappointed teachers now. Your attention fell to Steve in a look of confusion although that didn't mean you missed the smirk that played on the corner of Wanda's lips. You cursed her like a sailor in your head and hoped she heard but her back was to you and she was strolling out the room.
"I thought you guys were getting better." Steve sighed as he leant against the table.
"We were when we didn't have to talk to each other." You said honestly. There had been a few weeks prior where you and Wanda had had no missions together and therefore had no reason to talk or train with one another.
"You can't resort to avoiding each other as a way to solve your problems. All that does is make things escalate even more when you're actually together which will inevitably happen. Because believe it or not you two are on the same side and have to act like it." Natasha said sternly. You stared down at the table and thought about how how her words were. But it wasn't like you had that warning before.
When the pair infront of you knew you weren't going to say anything in response Steve filled the silence once again. "You're both suspended from missions until you can learn to work together." He decided.
"What?!" You cried as you snapped your head towards them and stood up. "You can't be serious."
"Deadly." Natasha said. You looked frantically between the two in disbelief.
"Alright." You said finally and clenched your jaw. You turned around and left the room without objection from the two Avengers, heading straight towards Wanda's room.
You never really knew why you and Wanda never got on. Maybe it was because she reminded you so much of the popular girls in high school you always envied while wanting them in your bed...no, it definetly couldn't be that. You just didn't know what.
It didn't take long to get there when you were walking like you were out for blood, that wouldn't be an unexpected result of what you planned. You banged on her door several times in a closed fist so it didn't take her long to answer.
She looked concerned when she opened the door and as soon as she realised it was you that same smirk from the meeting room fell back into place.
"Did they ground you?" She asked as she leant against the doorframe.
"Suspended." You spat. A shit eating grin started to appear but you wiped that off her face instantly. "Both of us."
"What the fuck? I didn't-"
"Yes you fucking did and now I'm paying for it too. You wanna know the best part? We can't go back in the field until we can work together nicely." You said bitterly.
"Why don't they just keep us on separate missions?"
"You can go ask them that later. Right now we're training." You said simply and you grabbed her forearm and pulled her out of her room down the corridor.
"We just got back." Wanda argued but followed you anyway after slapping your hand off her.
"Not prepared to put the work in, witchy?" You mocked, not looking at her as you marched through the compound.
"Don't call me that?" Wanda warned as she kept your pace.
"What are you gonna do? Read my mind?" You continued to taunt as you arrived in the gym and made your way to the mats.
Wanda put her red jacket on the floor and stepped away to take up her position as she eyed you. "I could snap all your bones into pieces so small they could be mistaken for ash." Wanda said stoicly.
"I don't think that's gonna get you another mission." You replied calmly, knowing that while there was a truth to Wanda's words she would never give you more than a split lip or bloody nose in the worst training sessions.
"Don't be a smartass y/n, it doesn't suit you." Your jaw clenched at her words.
Without warning, the entirety of your right arm lit up in flames and was aimed at Wanda in an instant.
You sent a wave of fire her way that she swiftly engulfed in her powers and sent back towards you. She looked less than impressed from your warningless attack.
"That was tacky." She said.
"I know, seemed fitting for you." You grinned but stopped when the red mist surrounded your body and lifted you into the air before a larger wave of fire was sent hurtling down to the redhead. The wall of fire blocked her view of you and subsequently dropped you to the ground as she dealt with the flames.
As soon as you landed and the fire parted you sent another blast Wanda's way only for her to do the exact same thing. You both ducked at the same time, your powers hitting opposite walls and leaving marks Tony would be on your asses about when he found out.
Wanda was clearly thinking the same thing. "We can't use our powers in an enclosed space, especially not yours." She said, her accent thickly woven into her voice.
"Okay then, let's see if Natasha's lessons have paid off." You said as you raised your fists and got into your defensive stance. Wanda mirrored you the way she had been taught and narrowed her eyes.
"They definelty have." She insisted as her eyes flickered over your form to try and identify your weak points already in a very obvious way.
"Just try to keep up." You mocked and swiftly moved to swipe her legs out from under her but she was surprisingly prepared. She jumped up to avoid your attack and kicked her leg out mid air and landed it on the center of your chest. You stumbled back in shock while Wanda looked very proud of herself. The last time you saw Wanda train it was clear she wasn't familiar with close range hand to hand combat. You hadn't expected her to improve so significantly in such a short amount of time.
You gritted your teeth and went for her stomach this time which she easily avoided but wasn't expecting another attack to follow so quickly. She blocked the continuous blows from you until you saw your moments and kicked one of her legs out from under her. Your mistake was thinking you succeeded the moment she was down because she spun around and kicked both of your legs out. You caught yourself partly as Wanda stood up so you were on kneeling.
Wanda's smirk was quick to take place when she saw your position, not missing the opportunity. "You look good when you're on your knees." She quipped.
Your eyes widened at her boldness and a heat rose up your neck that you knew wasn't your powers. You rolled back on the balls of your feet and swiftly stood up to look anywhere but the smug redhead infront of you.
"No snarky remark for that?" She challenged and you charged at her again. Anger feuled your attacks making them miscordinated and all round bad.
"Shut the fuck up, Maximoff." You huffed and made her grin even more at the clear signs that she was getting to you.
One of your punches was pushed to the side and Wanda took the chance to show you just how much she had learnt from Nat. You weren't entirely sure how she even did it it was so quick. Your arm was outstretched behind your back painfully due to Wanda's unrelenting grip on it and made it that much easier to push one of your legs down onto the floor. She held you like that for longer than necessary, soaking up the view of you struggling in her grasp.
"Get off." You snapped and winced when she pulled your arm back more.
"What's the magic word?" She teased.
"Now." You demanded. She tutted and pulled harder. "Maximoff!" You ordered through the pain. She leaned down beside you as her voice dropped to a low whisper.
"Beg." It was one word but you couldn't deny the effect it had on you. It was as though her light breath on your ear shot throughout your body and settled in a place you really didn't want it to.
You were about to object and tell her to stop being a bitch but her grip tightened and she pulled to a point where you thought your arm might just snap off under any more pressure.
"Please." You cried through gritted teeth. She instantly let go all too quickly and you collapsed onto the mat on your front. You heard her chuckle menacingly but cut herself off when Nat appeared in the doorway.
"We told you to write up your reports, not train." Natasha scolded as she watched you massage your shoulder and glare at Wanda.
"Sorry, just got a bit carried away." Wanda smiled, her innocent and sweet act that she put up for everyone except you returning. "Y/n's had enough now anyway." She smirked to herself.
"Fucking psycho." You muttered loud enough for her to hear but not Nat. Her jaw visibly clenched from that making you revel in the small victory as you finally got up from the mat.
"Just get on with the reports." Nat sighed and turned to leave as Wanda called out.
"On it."
"Aww, you trying to be a good girl, Maximoff?" You mocked as the pain subsided and your need to overrule what had happened came through.
"I don't have the time to stress over that, not when I'm busy putting brats in their place." Wanda said as she advanced towards you with a look you had only ever seen aimed at those you were fighting against.
"What?" You whispered as you backed up and felt your back hit the wall. Wanda's hand came up suddenly and wrapped itself around your throat firmly and cut off your breathing. Your eyes widened as you grabbed at her hands but she didn't budge. She looked amused at your efforts as her head tilted slightly to the side.
"And you certainly need to learn your place." She took her hand away and left you gasping for air for a split second before grabbing your arm and pulling you out of the gym.
You stumbled a little as you tried to keep up with Wanda's long strides you could usually match. Your whole body was already trembling in anticipation, more so by the tension filled silence between you both as you travelled through the compound and ended up outside the redhead's room.
She opened her door and shoved you into her room swiftly. You didn't have much chance to take in your surroundings because the Sokovian gripped the back of your neck and forced you to lay on your stomach on her bed.
She made quick work of your clothes, discarding them to some soon forgotten about corner.
You turned your head to the side and gripped the sheets as you felt Wanda's slim fingers trialing up the back of your thighs before she gripped them roughly and forced them apart and lifted your lower half up. Her fingers returned and glided along your drippikg folds, collecting your arousal as she reveled in the effect she had on you.
"What was it that made you this wet, slut? Was it being on your knees for me? Begging me? Or did you enjoy the pain? I bet you enjoyed me choking you too." She chuckled darkly and didn't wait for you to respond.
She slipped two fingers inside your soaking cunt without warning making you gasp out in pleasure. Her fingers curled inside you beautifully, brushing some kind of nerve ending every second they were buried inside you. She had you a moaning, quivering mess in no time.
"Wanda...fuck! Right there, oh God!" She snickered against your skin as she worked her fingers expertly. Even then she wanted to test you. Well it was more that she was setting you up for failure.
"Shut the fuck up. I don't want to hear another sound from that whiny mouth." She ordered and you couldn't help but shiver from her dominant nature.
Of course it didn't last long. Her fingers felt so damn perfect inside you and you couldn't help but moan at the unspeakable pleasure.
She brought her hand down fast and landed it on your ass with a harsh smack that echoed through the room. She did it to both of your asscheeks until they were bright red and you were trembling. The sadistic redhead didn't stop there, she continued to rain down smacks that edged you further to your edge with the pleasurable pain.
Soon, you were moaning into the air as you came around Wanda's slim fingers, desperatly clenching around them in an attempt to prolong the pleasure. Thankfully, she kept pumping her fingers inside you, not caring when the overstimulation kicked in. She even started scissoring her fingers inside you, stretching your walls in a way that has you whimper loudly.
"Gotta stretch you a little to get you ready for my piece, sweetheart." She said in a sinister tone. "There's no way you'd be able to take it otherwise, it's already going to reck you with its size." She husked into your ear and withdrew her fingers, spanking you again when you whined.
Wanda got off the bed and disappeared into her closet, shortly returning with a large strap secured around her waist and pointed at you. You whimpered at the sight of it, not sure you could handle its size.
The Sokovian kneeled behind you and gripped your hips with both her hands as she lined up the strap with your entrance.
"I'm going to fill you up so nicely, Princess. Gonna have your cumming in no time." She husked, her voice dripping with lust.
A scream was ripped from your throat when Wanda thrust the entirety of the strap into your pussy. She set about her harsh, abusing pace instantly and preened at the sound of the pleasure filled cries that left you.
She grabbed a fistful of your hair and slammed your head down into the pillows on your side do she could still hear all of your desperate moans. The rough action earned the redhead a cry of her name.
Her pace was unrelenting, everytime she thrust back into you she somehow managed to hit deeper, pounding the toy against the most sensitive and pleasurable part of your cunt.
"Mommy!" You moaned loudly, not realising your slip up until the words left your lips. Your eyes widened and you feared Wanda's response, but what you got was a smack from the redhead that stung your ass in the best way. Her fucked you with increasing vigor too, wanting you title to spill from your lips again. And it did. Over and over, each time going straight to Wanda's pussy.
"Fuck, I'm gonna cum." You whimpered as you gripped onto the sheets tighter to prepare yourself for your release. But Wanda pulled the strap out the the very tip and held it there as she leant over to whisper in your ear.
"Beg me." She ordered and you whimpered again. It wasn't like you hadn't already submitted to the red head you hated but begging would be something that would loom over you for a while.
Your thoughts clashed with the overwhelming need from your pussy as it desleratly tried to clamp down on the tip that didn't provide nearly enough pleasure.
"Please, Wanda." You whispered.
"Please who?" She asked sweetly, clearly testing you making you groan.
"Please, mommy just let me cum." You whined and Wanda smacked your ass hard. She edged the dildo in further ever so slowly and stopped again.
"Mommy, please! I need to cum." You tried again, desperation seeping into your voice. Wanda hummed.
"I can see that." She mused as she rubbed small circles on your throbbing and soaked clit. "I just don't see why I should, brat." She punctuated the name with a harsh slap to your ass again and you caught onto what she was hinting at.
"Please, I'll...I'll be so good for you, mommy."
"Yeah, baby?"
"Yes! Please mommy I'll be so so good for you. Just please please let me c-" You were abruptly cut off by your own whorish moan as Wanda snapped her hips forwards and filled you up entirely.
One of her hands tangled itself in your hair and forced your head down into the pillows, not stopping your incoherent babbles filling the room along with the sound of your pussy being fucked by Wanda and her thighs slapping against yours.
The Sokovian tugged on your hair again so your head was off the pillow.
"I'm gonna cum!" You cried out into the air.
"That's it, baby. Soak my fucking cock." And with that demand you came harder than you ever had around Wanda's strap and moaned continuously as the redhead prolonged your pleasure by continuing to pound into you.
But it soon became too much for your sensitive pussy. You squirmed away from Wanda but she placed one hand on the middle of your back to keep you flat against the bed.
"Too much." You managed to say, however the redhead didn't seem to care.
"I'm nowhere near done with you, Princess."
*
Laying panting and gripping onto Wanda's bedsheets like a lifeline wasn't exactly what you expected to be doing on a Thursday night. You were drenched in sweat and although Wanda had pulled out the toy minutes prior, you were sure you could still feel it filling you up, the faint throbbing a forewarning of what was to come.
It took you a while to gather the strength to get up. With anyone else you probably would have just stayed the night in their bed, but you weren't sure you could do that with Wanda. Although she wouldn't kick you out, you didn't like the thought of sleeping beside the redhead. It seemed far too...soft? Whatever it was, you were sure Wanda would agree.
You searched for your clothes while she took a most likely deliberately long shower, images of her naked figure covered in water invading your mind.
Once you cursed them away they were just replaced with flashes of what you had been doing for all those hours, remembering how she pulled on your hair as she praised you when you went down on her. Of course you did that while on your knees.
What happened between you and Wanda wasn't a one time thing. In fact it became increasingly common until you were in each other's beds almost every night. You would have been fuck buddies if you had considered each other a friend.
It worked. You and Wanda were able to work out your pent up frustration towards each other in a way that didn't hurt one another....well, if that didn't include the scratches along Wanda's back and the constant aching between your legs.
You didn't even make snide comments about each other in meetings or during training. You were able to keep everything in the bedroom.
The success of what you two had going forced you to ignore the noteable change in feelings you had towards Wanda. You saw her differently but couldn't quite tell how. Sometimes it was as though the unplaceable emotion you had towards her from from start spiked and other times you were purely confused.
It was always most prominent after she made you crash over the edge of bliss or when she came undone beneath you. Those moments when your bodies went limp and you were caught up in each other's embrace because you didn't have the energy to move. Hearing her exhausted breathing match her rising and falling chest and faint heartbeat if you had your head on her chest. Those tender moments were the ones that caught you off guard.
You refused to make a big deal out of it though. You refused to investigate your feelings or even acknowledge them. What you had with Wanda was the most efficient thing you could do. You didn't want to muck it up but you knew it couldn't go on forever. Another labelless feeling emerged at that thought.
Natasha was the only one who knew what you were doing. Neither of you told her, the spy was able to figure it all out on her own quickly and confronted you both about it once, only saying to be careful. That was the only time she addressed it verbally but you could always feel her watching you both carefully when you trained.
You thought it was going great. You and Wanda had finally been cleared for a mission that you would both be on, the team certainly needed the man power. That was until Nat told you otherwise.
"What do you mean I'm not going?!" You exclaimed across the room. You had seen Nat in the meeting room looking up something on her tablet and had gone in to enquire something about the mission that was long forgotten.
"I've thought about it and you and Wanda still aren't deemed the most reliable when put together for a mission, with this one being as important as it is we can't afford to make mistakes." Natasha sighed.
"So why don't you take Wanda off the mission? I have more experience."
"Her powers are perfectly fitted to this mission, we need her."
"And not me." You knew you came across as petty, but you had been dying to go back into the field.
"Y/n." Nat tried but you scoffed and glared at the screens with those assigned to the mission. Your eyes found Wanda's picture first and your jaw clenched at the sight of her ridiculously attractive face.
"What did she say to you?" You demanded as something clicked in your brain.
"She didn't say anything, this is my judgement." Natasha began but you didn't buy it.
"We both know if it was you you would have told me as soon as you decided it. You had no issue with me and Wanda being on this mission before. Hell, you cleared us both for the field." Nat glanced down at her tablet guiltily as she searched her brain for another hopeless lie.
"This is unbelievable." You scoffed and turned sharply on your heels to storm out of the room, ignoring your name being called by Nat.
You soon found Wanda in the kitchen making herself a coffee as she hummed softly. You willed your brain to ignore the warmth you got from seeing the redhead in her own, peaceful world.
"Do you have a problem with me?" You demanded, snapping her out of her trance. She visibly figited when she saw you approach her and lean on the edge of the kitchen island on you hands with an expectant look.
"No?" She said, seeming unsure.
"Don't you fucking lie to me." She seemed startled by your increasing aggression.
"What are you talking about?" She asked as she stirred her drink.
"Don't play dumb with me, Maximoff. You got me off the mission!" Wanda stopped her movements as she froze, clearly caught off guard by your discovery. Given how Nat had acted you guessed you weren't meant to find out it was Wanda who said something.
"It's for the best." She finally said but avoided your eye.
"It is not your place to decide what's best for me, you don't get to do that." You argued.
"There should only be a few people on the mission." She tried.
"I know that, I've seen the intel. But we already discussed that those people should be powered. Why am I being taken off?" You demanded again.
"It's dangerous." She muttered as she stared down at her drink.
"It's my fucking job. You think I don't know that."
"Of course you do, but there's a bigger risk than the usual missions we've been on. A bigger risk of you getting hurt." She muttered the last bit, like she wasn't entirely sure she wanted you to hear her. Granted, Wanda showing concern for your safety was new.
"Any one of us could get hurt." You said, lowering your voice marginally.
"But it's you I'm worried about." She insisted. It was your turn to become uncomfortable, shifting slightly under her gaze that held something new.
"I can take care of myself." You said as you crossed your arms, feeling a sudden defensive need to protect yourself.
"I know... but I care about you." You exhaled slowly, becoming increasingly uncomfortable at the tone of her voice. "If something happened to you..." She continued, "I don't know what I would do." Her voice was barely above a whisper, the softness laced in it undeniable. It sparked something in you. Something you didn't want to accept.
"Good luck on your mission, Maximoff." You said through gritted teeth and went to leave but Wanda was behind you instantly and took ahold of your hand to pull you back.
"Wait, I wasn't done-"
"Well I am." You snapped and yanked your hand out of her grip.
"What..?" She said slowly.
"If you don't want to work with me then we won't, no need to keep fucking anymore." You huffed and went to walk away.
"That wasn't what I-"
"Stop!" It wasn't a cry of anger. It was pure desperation. Your pleading look took Wanda by surprise and pained her to see. "Just stop before you say something you can't unsay." You said shakily. Your unspoken message was received. You didn't want to hear about Wanda's feelings towards you. She just didn't know it was because you were afraid that it would uncover what you had been feeling all along. You couldn't handle it. You were scared.
Wanda nodded, defeated, and let you go. You were filled with grief as you walked away, your footsteps feeling heavier than usual. You wanted to look back, to go back to her. But you couldn't.
*
You distracted yourself with a particularly ruthless training session the day of Wanda's mission. Carol showed you no mercy in sparring, weight lifting and boxing - even encouraging power use every now and then. But your mind still wandered to the redhead the way it usually did.
When you finally collapsed on the mat in defeat Carol chuckled and tossed you your waterbottle before encouraging an ice bath and strolling out of the gym for her evening flight.
You stayed on the floor for a while after you finished your water, only stopping staring up at the ceiling when Nat's outline blocked the lights. You sat up and looked at her hopefully, seeing that she was back from monitoring the mission and didn't seem distraught or upset.
"How did it go?" You asked as she sat down across from you.
"It was a success." She said but she didn't seem all that happy.
"And everyone's okay?" You asked cautiously. Nat gave a half shug and sighed lightly.
"There was ice - a lot if it and it was so cold. Dangerously cold." Nat started. You tried not to clench your jaw or show any signs of annoyance, knowing there was no need to point out that mission was fitted for you and your powers that would have guaranteed everyone's safety.
"Wanda got a little cut up, it was impossible to fight on that ground." You eyed the door and bit your lip, refraining from giving in to the urge to go see her.
"She doesn't want to talk to anyone right now, but she needs seeing to the cut." Nat said as she placed a first aid kit down infront of you. She was back already? And why did you have the kit?
"She won't see anyone either." Nat said before you could verbally question her. It took a moment for you to understand what she was saying.
"I don't think she wants to see me, Nat." You said as you pushed it back her way only for her to toss it into your lap.
"Goddmit, y/n. Can you two stop dancing around each other and actually talk?!" She exclaimed.
"We tried that-"
"Talking, y/n, not shouting or arguing. Talking." She said firmly and got up before you could protest further.
You pondered over what Natasha said for a while. You knew she had a good point, that talking was exactly what you should have done from the start, but it was just another thing that frightened you.
"Your job is facing your fears." You muttered aloud to yourself.
You finally got up from the ground, first aid kit in hand, and trudged along the compound towards Wanda's room. You tried to figure out what you could say on the way. But it all came out a jumbled mess that made no sense. Multiple times you stopped in the hallways and considered turning back before convincing yourself to keep going.
You knocked softly on Wanda's door and was surprised that it opened for you. The redhead in question was sat on her bed with a pillow in her lap, fiddling with her hands the way she always did when she was anxious or deep in thought. That evening it was both.
She glanced up at you as you closed the door but turned back to her pillow quickly when you gave her a short smile that didn't quite meet your eyes.
Regardless, you cautiously walked towards her bed and sat down next to her with the small box between you. You brought one of your legs up under you so you could face Wanda and eyed the cut above her eyebrow in concern. She still didn't say anything, neither did you.
You opened up the small box and got out a pack of wound closure strips and carefully unwrapped one. Wanda didn't object to you gently holding the area around her cut as you placed the strip on and lightly smoothed over the edges until you were sure it would stay on.
"I let my emotions cloud my judgement." She mumbled as you prepped another strip.
"It happens to all of us." You said.
"But I didn't listen to you. I should have." You sighed and stopped unwrapping the strip to look up at the redhead and watch her closely. She looked back at you with a guilty and pained expression that was full of regret.
"Yeah." You nodded slowly as you went back to the medical tape and raised your hands to put it on but the Sokovian held your wrist to stop you. "What's done is done, so just let me put these on and we're good." You said but she still didn't let go.
"Just like that?" She questioned.
"The mission was a success. If I'd had been there you wouldn't have gotten hurt, that's all."
"You were really mad though." She continued and you put your hands down to rest them, not failing to notice that Wanda was still holding your wrist but with a much lighter grip.
"It's hard to stay mad at you." You admitted.
"You've always been mad at me."
"Well it wasn't exactly like you were the friendliest person to me." You pointed out. "I was never mad at you, Wanda. I just hated that... that you made me feel something I've never trusted, so I didn't trust you. It was never your fault, I was unfair." You admitted as you stared down at the tape the whole time, afraid to meet the redhead's eyes.
"What did you feel?" Wanda asked, her voice void of emotion making it more difficult for you to say. You gulped as you continued to stare at the tape, willing yourself to give Wanda the answer she needed. The answer she deserved.
"Love." You voice shook. "I loved... love you." You were shaking more as you finally looked up at Wanda. Her eyes were wide and her lips slightly parted like there was a million thoughts trying to be heard but without the ability to.
She didn't say anything for a while. A long while. She stared at you in disbelief then at her pillow as though it would give her all the answers.
Tears rushed to your eyes that you tried to blink away as your head swam with curses to yourself for admitting your feelings. You had opened up and been vulnerable to Wanda, and the result was the exact reason you had sworn to never do it again.
Once you were sure she wasn't going to say anything to you, you took it as your cue to leave. To leave so Wanda could prepare her rejection speech for you. However, as soon as you put your hand to the door she spoke out.
"Please don't go."
You turned around slowly and met her light brown eyes you had always found impossible not to get lost in when you had your fingers or tongue inside her. You timidly went back to the bed and paused before sitting down next to her, facing the wall instead of her this time.
"I thought it was one sided." She started and you felt yourself begin to shake with nerves again. "I thought you didn't love me back." You looked to Wanda quickly and searched her features for any signs of a lie, any signs that she was setting you up to push you down but she was gazing back at you longingly with tears glistening in her eyes.
"When you confronted me about the mission, I was going to say it then, you knew that." You squeezed your eyes shut and nodded, remembering the fear you felt in that moment.
"I wasn't ready, I thought I wouldn't ever be but," You took a deep breath "I want to try, for you." You took ahold of Wanda's hand to reiterate your point. "I care about you too Wanda, so much. More than I could ever express or even handle and I didn't know what to do about it. I mean we've tried a fair few things now," You both laughed a little, "but it I don't think any of them are going to work as well as accepting it and...and I don't know." You looked to her for guidance because fuck did you need it. You needed Wanda to guide you down whatever path you chose to take, as long as she was there with you.
"Maybe we could start with something small." She suggested with a small smile that made her eyes shine.
"Like a coffee date?" You tried.
"Exactly like that." She confirmed, giving your hand a reassuring squeeze.
"Then I'll pick you up around 2." You said cheesily making Wanda laugh. "But first, I have to finish tending to this cut." You declared as you turned around to face her entirely and crossed your legs under you, pausing for a moment to give Wanda a short and sweet kiss.

Note
hear me out crazy ass boy gang with a s/o that writes them songs but has never shown them. randomly the guys find them knowing them some are gonna be insufferable with the amount of arrogance they now possess and some of them have no clue what to do with the concept of someone loving them and verbalizing it 🥺
A/N: oooh my gosh i'm obsessed with this concept
billy loomis: Was waiting for you to get back from school/work, and couldn’t keep his hands to himself. He wasn’t necessarily trying to find anything, but the book was on your desk- you were asking him to read it, at this point. He’s only halfheartedly looking until he realizes the words are lyrics. It doesn’t take a genius to realize the love songs are written with him in mind. At first it makes him smirk. But he can see the evolution of your relationship through the lyrics. General feelings of infatuation melting into the deeper connection of being in love with him, as opposed to being in love with love itself. It’s an ego boost, for sure. Mostly it’s a relief. Here are your feelings, written out on page, clear as day. Your every unfiltered thought. He doesn’t tell you he read the book. He just walks around with a knowing smirk on his face that you’re very suspicious of. You’re easily distracted from this onset of smugness by his sudden romantic nature. He’s never been a bad boyfriend, but he’s certainly never been so downright doting. Not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, you decide to just enjoy this random streak of tenderness.
josh washington: You two were moving in together and he was just trying to unpack some of your boxes for you. He’s honestly just setting up your desk for you. All the boxes are marked so that either one of you can unpack anything inside with at least a vague idea of where the stuff should go. Something about the unmarked notebook that doesn’t look like its for school makes him take a look inside. When he realizes how personal it is he wants to put it down. Then he spots his name... and well, he isn’t a saint.
He melts as he goes through the pages. He knows the two of you love each other. You have to love each other, with all the bullshit you’ve been through. But he knows it’s not easy to be with him. Sometimes he worries that you’ll wake up one day and be done with him. Be done with all the problems that come with being with him. He wouldn’t blame you but the thought leaves him hollow. He doesn’t know what he’d do without you. He doesn’t know if he could handle you being gone. You love him though. It’s inked into the pages. Some songs written out slow and careful, and others written out sloppy and fast, like you had to get all the feeling out of your chest because it hurt to have it all trapped inside. You’ll walk in carrying takeout and find Josh crying. You nearly drop the food to run and comfort him. When he tells you what’s wrong - or really, what isn’t wrong, you won’t even have the heart to be angry. He looks somewhere between overwhelmed and awe. All he can think to do is pull you into his arms. He holds you so tightly you wonder if he’s afraid someone will come and take you away.
stu macher: He was just going through your stuff because he was bored, honestly. He wasn’t expecting to find anything juicy. The minute he realizes he’s holding onto a notebook full of songs he’s giddy. It’s practically a diary! You'll come into your bedroom and see him poring over your words without shame. He won’t even have the decency to stop. “Hey babe!”, will be his absentminded greeting as his eyes stay glued to a far-too-familiar book. You’ll have to literally snatch it from him. “Didn’t know you felt this way about me.” His teasing will be relentless. You’ll have to threaten to break up with him, and give him a bit of the silent treatment too. Eventually he’ll ease up on you, his grin going soft around the edges. “You should show me them on your own next time. Else I’ll have to go hunting for ‘em.” It’s not an idle threat. Now that he knows the book exists he’ll really tear up your entire house looking for it. Don’t bother trying to hide it. It won’t be worth the headache.
jd: His first instinct is to become insufferable. As he reads more of your lyrics, he starts getting overwhelmed. Even as he holds the proof in his hands, he can barely wrap his head around you feeling so strongly about him. He traces over your handwriting and relishes every word. You'll catch him in the act but you won't have the chance to get angry. He kisses you like a man starved. Whispers every thought of love he's ever had against your lips, uncaring if he sounds obsessed. He was allowed a glimpse at your soul. It's only fair that he bares his in return.
kevin khatchadourian: Honestly was indifferent at first. He was going through your things because ‘why shouldn't he?‘ when he found all the songs. Page after page he reads. Slowly but surely it starts to get to him. The only person who's ever loved him is his father, and that love is built upon an endless tapestry of falsehoods and manipulation. His father loves someone who doesn't exist. His mother knows him, always has, but she despises him. Celia loves him, but it's pathetic. The hopeless and unthinking love of a dog. And now there's you. When he's with you he drops the act of normality he puts on for everyone else. You were around so constantly that he couldn't stomach wearing the mask 24/7. Beyond that though, there was something about you that made him want to show you everything. At first he thought he wanted to scare you. Now he doesn't know what he really wants from you.
As he reads through the pages he's sifting through your words, finding the deeper meanings. Watches as you stop writing about his mask, and start writing about him. Jagged and malicious and apathetic as he might be. You're infatuated          maybe you even love him. You've written out the words in a hundred different ways. He can see it every time you look at him, reach for him, follow him, talk to him. Reading it is different, somehow. You probably never wanted him to see these words. To know the depth of how you feel. You were probably afraid he'd mock you. A few months ago he would have. Now? He puts the book back, exactly where he found it.
He won't tell you about reading it, but the words are always on his mind. You'll think you misplaced the book one day and be beside yourself over losing it. Eventually you’ll find it again, out of the blue. Something is off about it though... but you’re not sure what. You’ll never know that what you have is a replica of the original book. A good replica, granted, but a replica nonetheless. Kevin thought about the songs too much, and committing them all to memory hadn’t scratched the itch. The constant cycle of the words running through his head. The irritation he’d feel when he forgot a part of a song, or mixed lyrics together. Having the book itself? It quieted his mind. He’s uncomfortable with the fact that he keeps it under his bed, tucked away inside a lock box, just so no one would be able to look at it. He’s never felt so protective over an item before. He tries not to think about it too much.
nathan prescott: He actually looked at your song book on accident. He needed to borrow some notes for a class and you told him he could just go to your room and grab them. He would never go searching for something like that. Saying he values his privacy would be an understatement, so he'd never disrespect yours. As soon as he realizes these are songs he wants to stop reading... but he's desperate to know what you think of him. People lie so easily, but here's a chance to see the raw truth of how you feel. He's terrified as he starts to read. Then he's just shocked. He'd hoped you weren't like everyone else around him. Wanting him to fail, to lose it, waiting for some sort of pay-off or trickle down. Even if you were, he wanted you so badly he was willing to have you any way you came, as long as you stayed. But here you are, your deepest feelings written out in ink, and you love him. You don't even pity him, you ache for him, want him. The next time he sees you he tells you he loves you for the first time. You'll never know that he read your songs, you'll only notice how much your relationship seemed to change over night.
sebastian valmont: Has to deflect. The only reason he’s being such an asshole about your songs is because he’s trying to deflect. He’s the only one here who has also written about you. Maybe not in lyrics, or in poetry, but he’s written about you. His diary is full of you. He started writing about you the moment he met you. Not unusual for him, considering absolutely everything is in his journals. But from the start there’s been something different about the entries that mention you. All his words suddenly become electric, leaping off the page. His descriptions of you, of the time you spent together, nearing obsessive in their detail. As if you were a puzzle he was trying to solve.
If there’s anything Sebastian is good at its manipulation. He knows he has you. He can have anyone, if he puts his mind to it. He’s made people fall in love with him before. There’s a long line of people who wants his head on a platter for that very reason. You’re the only prize that’s ever mattered, though. He has you now, sure. But what about tomorrow? Or the day after that? It’s easy for eyes to wander, for the heart to turn fickle. Sometimes he watches you and tries to imagine what you might want from him. Tries to figure out what he could do to keep you interested from moment to moment. If he ever shared his worries with you, his worries that you could just get bored with him and leave, just like that - you’d tell him you don’t want him to be anyone but himself. And Sebastian doesn’t want to be anyone but himself, he doesn’t. But people contain multitudes, are more than a single face. He’d rather be a version of himself that captivates you then a “true” version of himself that you can grow tired of.
But here’s written proof that you love him. As he is. All the long nights you’ve spent talking to one another, side by side. The conversations where you traded barbs and philosophy, and everything in-between. The dinners, and picnics, and phone calls, and rooftops. He was so busy observing you, and trying to create a version of himself that you could love, that he forgot that there was something real for you to fall for. Didn’t even know how much of himself he was earnestly offering to you. Now he can see it in ink, and it’s scary, even with how much he loves you, to realize how much of the real him you know.
So he’s an asshole for a few days. When you confront him he falls apart like a wet sandcastle. You won’t have time to get angry before he’s pushing his own journals into your hands. Sebastian has never played fair, but something about you seeing through him despite all his masks made him want to show you more. As scary as it had been, it was also a moment of pure connection. The most electric, addicting thing he’s ever felt. He wants to feel it over and over again.
