I saw Dirty Shirt live back in November and their Crossover Folk Metal as well as their live energy really captured my interest. I’ve been listening to their whole discography on and off ever since.

4. A Fari Spenti by Elodie

Not sure what it is about her music but for some reason I can't get enough of her particular style of pop, be it this or OK. Respira.

5. Sei Un Mito by 883

That intro has been stuck in my head more than I’d like to admit

6. Podría Haber Sido Yo by Amaral

Ah, Amaral. Their new album needs a few more listens but this song is great. Simple, folky and led me down a rabbit hole about Víctor Lidio Jara Martínez…

7. Copacabana by Izal

I’m not immune to this sort of vocal harmonizing (is it called that?). Also, I love the way the song builds towards its rockier parts.

8. Kodama by Alcest

It's Alcest. ‘Nuff said.

9. La Cittá Addosso by La Rappresentante di Lista

In my opinion, this band does the whole upbeat girly pop that's been hyped last year much better than what I’ve heard coming out of the US. Plus they got some truly great ballads as well. 

10. Frunza Verde Foi Marunte by Bucium (feat. Dora Gaitanovici)

Due to my Dirty Shirt overload, Spotify's Autoplay spammed me with Romanian songs—some of which were truly great. Here, I like the mix of folk and a hint of melancholy.

hey so i Fully Believe that telemachus was not afraid of odysseus in Hold Them Down

people may have told him stories of Odysseus, King of Ithaca, Athena's chosen Champion, Hero of Troy

but mama's boy telemachus sat by her feet as she wove tapestry after tapestry; and penelope told her little wolf stories of his father

how they met, how he tripped over himself to woo her, how he cried his eyes out when penelope became pregnant, how telemachus wouldn't sleep in his cot as a baby because he was so used to being in his father's arms because odysseus would not put him down; and yes, how viciously he defended their family when the atrides came to retrieve him for the war

telemachus? the child of the Unhinged Power Couple? who knew very well how horrible those suitors were, how they treated him and spoke of his mother?

took one look at his dad viciously protecting their home, their family, and thought he was the coolest, strongest person ever (after mom ofc)

honestly my mother was a huge champ about her eight-year-old asking to be bought an unabridged edition of the Odyssey for a birthday present, and then she was an equally huge champ about reading her eight-year-old the unabridged Odyssey as a bedtime story and pausing every four lines to define something for me, and let me just say that I have fucking TREASURED the opportunity to reverse that old tradition by more or less forcing her to sit on my couch and listen to Epic and pause it every four lines for my dissertation

"Because," Danny gritted his teeth, "That wasn't created to be a poison, it was created to be a fuel source by my parents and they created an antidote the moment they realized it was toxic and a safety hazard." Danny took a step towards the Gotham vigilante, not an ounce of fear in his eyes, "That man is Slade. He murdered my parents and stole some of my thier work. I'm going to kill him and I won't let you stop me." And with that, Phantom vanished.

Bruce tensed, anticipating an attack, but after a few minutes where nothing happened, he turned to leave. He pressed a finger to his ear, "Spoiler, Red Robin, since you two know the most about Phantom I'll be expecting a full report."

Tim did his best to hold back a groan, cause now he had to tell his Dad all about how he's been flirting with a supernatural entity when in the mask. Awkward.

So, the new Nightwish album is out and...

I have mixed feelings.

At first I was disappointed. No big surprises, no moments that Floored (heh) me—after the first listen I went right back to something else.

However, after listening to it for the fifth time now, it's growing on me. There are many seeds of ideas on it that just weren't realised fully, like the oldschool keyboards in Spider Silk or the 80s influence in The Day Of...

The album definitely lacks variety and the mixing, especially of the singles, is subpar. However, the songs flow well and are, for the most part, distinct enough to stand on their own. I also like the darker atmosphere of the album and the overall "Theme park ride" feel to it.

So, all in all, could be better and I expected better from Nightwish, but it's still a solid album that needs a few listens to shine.

Also, I hear the absence of Marko. Troy is doing a decent job but the shoes he has to fill are just too big. I wanna hear a Floor & Marko version of Sway...

God but the final breach of decorum right before everything goes to hell.

He’s Ody. Not Captain. Not the king. His is a friend and brother. Even after betrayal after betrayal on both sides. Even with the blood of hundreds on both of their hands. Both of them are pleading for the other to understand.

And in the end it doesn’t matter.

i keep seeing people say "omg Percy and Annabeth are Odysseus and Penelope!!!" and i wholeheartedly agree, but then they shoot themselves in the foot saying Percy is Odysseus and Annabeth is Penelope

I say this with absolutely no disrespect, but what the fuck are you talking about???

Which one of them, Percy or Annabeth, has the fatal flaw hubris, which is the exact reason Odysseus was so fucked (he pride led him to reveal is name to Polyphemus)? Which one of them, Percy or Annabeth, plans for every fight THOROUGHLY and CAREFULLY (I know very well that Percy is battle strategic, but let's be honest, it's a 50/50 chance he'll have a thorough plan that doesn't have a large chunk of impulsiveness and vibes)? Which one of them, Percy or Annabeth, is the literal DAUGHTER of Odysseus's patron and mentor?

We all know Percy would go ape shit if anyone hurt Annabeth, but who did we see ready to fight three random people because they didn't know where her missing boyfriend was? Who did we actually see go ape shit because she couldn't find her boyfriend? Who fell from first-ish glance?

On the other hand, who has the more "fight first, question later" mindset (which, for someone who hates Ares and tolerates Mars, he has a very Spartan like disposition)? Who likes to piss people off to get their attention (granted, that's both a Odysseus and Penelope thing, but I'm referring specifically to Percy sitting on his dad's throne compared to Penelope's "if your not my husband, move the immovable bed rq")?

If Percy and Annabeth are indeed Penelope and Odysseus reincarnations (which i do believe they are lol), Percy is so Penelope and Annabeth is Odysseus.
