we don’t acknowledge enough how dee used to be a pageant winner when she was a kid and how much damage it did to her. she worked her ass off and got recognition for being pretty and talented at a young age and it was the only source of self esteem she could garner in a family that constantly berated and talked down to her. she sought after that external approval because it was the only way she could prove everyone around her wrong. her dream of being a performer didn’t come from a self-aggrandizing delusion— she genuinely showed a lot of potential when she was younger. but she went through an unflattering puberty and her spinal condition got worse and that natural talent she had as a kid plateaued way too early. the “former gifted kid” dilemma. she slowly lost the thing that promised her that she was good, but she was so desperate to keep holding onto it that she tried anyway. again and again and again no matter how much people made fun of her because it was always about proving them wrong. but after a while she couldn’t jump anymore without anticipating the way it feels when she hits the ground face first. self-sabotage became her way out, choosing to rather live in the fantasy of her own unrealized potential and blaming those around her for her lack of success, than having tried and crashed again. she’d rather buy lottery tickets over and over and never scratch off the numbers than to see that she lost. that self-sabotaging behavior bled into other aspects of her life too, from friendships to relationships to therapy. her own short lived success is what made her grow into embodying the cycle of failure.

it's wild that popular discourse around migraines is that there are too many people who claim to have migraines but "just have bad headaches". this is the exact opposite of my experience? i'm still trying to convince several of my friends that their "bad tension headaches" that are unilateral, throbbing, cause light sensitivity, nausea, etc, are migraines lmao. migraine is underdiagnosed and undertreated by every metric i can think of.

this narrative is not harmless! it prevents people from getting treatment that could really benefit them. so i would like it to die. thank you.

Nothing seems to have changed at all and everyone greets him like his absence was a minor obstacle that didn’t fundamentally change Thor and the worst part is Loki stepped down from the place as regent without any delay and Thor can’t help but feel there’s something underlaying the way his brother looks at him now and won’t let him touch him and Thor doesn’t know what he could have missed because he doesn’t think he would have found anything wrong with the things around him and how everyone behaves if he hadn’t spent time on Earth reflecting.

Saruhiko speaking random things in his sleep so when Yata moves in with him for the first time, he's woken up at 3 AM by a scary voice mumbling "no, no... this isnt how a watch is supposed to look... where is my hand?"

Honestly Fushimi saying random weird things in his sleep is probably preferable to Yata than the alternative, since I could absolutely see Fushimi having nightmares and Yata would rather hear Fushimi babbling about talking watches over quietly begging ‘don’t destroy it.’ I imagine this being something Fushimi was concerned about when he and Yata first moved in together after middle school though, what if he accidentally lets something slip about Niki in his sleep. He’s probably gotten good at sleeping quietly though — because anything said during sleep can and will be used against him by Niki — and so Fushimi decides it will probably be all right to move in with Yata (and besides they’ve had sleepovers before without a problem).

The first few days there are no issues but then imagine one night Yata gets woken up in the middle of the night by a creepy voice going ‘That’s not where you put the carrots… if you put them in the drawer they’ll escape.’ Yata’s looking around drowsily all what carrots where and then he hears a shifting above him. Yata carefully climbs the ladder to peer into Fushimi’s bunk, Fushimi’s started mumbling again ‘Not the onions too… Misaki, we need the flamethrower.’ Yata is amused that Fushimi talks in his sleep and also that Yata’s apparently part of his dreams. Imagine after this Yata doesn’t say anything, just every now and again he’ll wake up to Fushimi mumbling and Yata will sit and listen to Fushimi talk about how they’re waging a war against the vegetables or he’s just created a laptop out of cheese. It’s not until post-ROK when they move in together again that Yata ever reveals how much Fushimi talks in his sleep and Fushimi immediately denies it, he would know if he talked in his sleep as a child because his shitty dad would never let him hear the end of it. Yata’s like well you talked in your sleep with me, maybe you got better sleep when it was our apartment. Fushimi huffs about that but imagine him getting a little red in the face as the real answer occurs to him, that he was just so comfortable being around Yata that he lowered his guard and allowed himself to sleep talk.

Using the 100% canon compliant Danwu timeline as reference lol. None of this is actual canon. I am just thinking about the timeline of events.

The Edwu situationship goes crazy the more I think of it.

Like Eddie being Wu’s partner in crime against nature is like. Yea going off of the Danwu timeline, Daniel and Wu have known each other for a good while.

But like… does Daniel know about Wu almost dying to the Scorpios? Does Daniel even know about the whole secret hybrid thing going on? He obviously doesn’t know a good bunch since his company recruited Sammy and whoever to get insider information.

I mean it would make sense that Wu would still keep things hidden from Daniel when it comes to his work. Especially his hybrids since he’s so attached to them. He’s still competition, owning Mantahcorp and all.

terms of endearment, diminutives, pet names: if i referred to my partner as "babe", it would be unusual for an unrelated party to also call them "babe"

also it would be kinda weird for me to call them "babe" in a professional/clinical/administrative/etc context: like, if i were filling out a form for an Emergency Contact for a race, i might say my emergency contact is [Partner], but i would not say that our relationship is "babe" or "sweetie" or "honeybun" or whatever; i would say they are my "spouse" or "partner"

to me, it reads as similarly unusual, ?overly familiar?, to refer to one's parents as "mom" or "dad", except when directly addressing one's own parents, and i don't think i can bring myself to call someone "a dad" or "a mom" even if they refer to themself as such
