I've been working on a new character.
This new character is a fan character for Talespin. If anyone remembers Talespin, it was a Disney tv show in the 90s. (DuckTales probably repopularized it, I dunno, I haven't watched it, but I saw that Kit appeared in it)
Here is her basic info:
Name: Lina
Gender: Female
Species: Husky
Age: 24
Personality: smooth-talking, clever, charismatic, complex, multifaceted, morally ambiguous, sassy.
Skills: Agile, fast, master thief, hand-to-hand combat, street smart.
Lina is part of a group of female husky thieves called "The Ice Pack" from Tundra City. She steals treasure from Don Karnage, which sparks a rivalry between them. She ends up developing a crush on him.

Disney Branded Television Greenlits ‘Sofia the First: Royal Magic,’ Sequel To ‘Sofia the First’ Slated For A 2026 Release Date.
Today, Disney Jr. announced a series greenlight for “Sofia the First: Royal Magic” a continuation of “Sofia the First” and remains one of the most successful global preschool franchises for The Walt Disney Company. The spin-off got picked up for development back in November 2022 under the working title ("Royal Prep Academy")
“Sofia the First: Royal Magic” follows Sofia as she attends The Charmswell School for Royal Magic, where princes and princesses from across the EverRealm will continue their royal studies and also learn all types of magic. During her time at Charmswell, Sofia discovers she is the most magical princess in the realm and must learn how to master her powers while making new royal friends. Each episode will contain two 11-minute stories, each with a new original song.  The sequel is created and executive produced by original series creator Craig Gerber. Ariel Winter (“Modern Family”), who voiced the role of Sofia, in the original series, is set to reprise her role. Additional casting will be announced at a later date. Many of the creative team from “Firebuds” are involved in this series, including Krystal Banzon as co-executive producer and story editor, Kris Wimberly as supervising director, and Craig Simpson as producer. The series is produced by Disney Television Animation. The new series is currently in production and is slated for a 2026 premiere on Disney Jr. and Disney+
Gerber added, “I’m incredibly excited for the chance to return to Sofia’s enchanted world and tell the next chapter in her story. At a new school specializing in royal magic, Sofia will learn how to master her magical abilities while discovering the power of friendship and teamwork from her new royal classmates. Over the years, I have heard countless stories of how much the original series meant to young viewers and I’m hoping the new show will delight the next generation of preschoolers.”
Ayo Davis, president, Disney Branded Television and VP of Current and Development at Disney Television Animation said, “Since its debut in 2012, ‘Sofia the First’ captured the hearts and imaginations of preschoolers everywhere for its beloved characters, memorable music, adventurous spirit and meaningful storylines. The enduring charm and appeal of Sofia is undeniable, and we’re excited to continue sharing her journey in ‘Sofia the First: Royal Magic.’”
The “Sofia the First” franchise still holds the record for the Top 3 cable TV telecasts for Girls 2-5 and, lifetime to date, has garnered over 755 million views on Disney Junior YouTube.
Sofia The First: Royal Magic is one of the many projects by Disney Television Animation to introduce the studio's iconic franchises and charactes to a new generation of fans, other projects include "The Proud Family: Louder And Prouder", Disney Junior's "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse 2.0", "Phineas And Ferb" as a revival and a reboot of "Darkwing Duck" by Point Grey Pictures (Nickelodeon Animation Studios "Tales Of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles")
New interations of "TaleSpin" also by Point Grey Pictures (Nickelodeon Animation Studios "Tales Of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles") & "Recess" with the original creators are in very early development at the studio.

Unfortunately, bad news for all comic book fans, the genius artist for Disney comics, Maximino Tortajada Aguilar, passed away last week. He is from Spain and is the brother of the equally brilliant artist José Miguel Tortajada Aguilar who is also an artist working for Disney and Egmont editing Disney comics. While José Miguel worked more on Mickey Mouse comics, Maximino Tortajada Aguilar worked more on Donald Duck comics combining various styles depending on the publisher and given outcomes. He was born on 24-X-1961 in Barcelona, and he started his career back in 1980 and continued his career until this year. He also drew on the OG Ducktales comics, Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers, Talespin and other Disney cartoons that made it into the comics, as he also drew for Egmont drawing for Dutch and Scandinavian comics. He is certainly one of my favorite artists and it is a great shame that he left us on August 20th of this year. Unfortunately, there is not much information about him, except on the Lambiek encyclopedia, and I learned about his death on the Inducks Discord from a friend of mine as well as here: https://www.tebeosfera.com/autores/tortajada_aguilar_maximino.html
lso bad news for all fans of Disney (Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck) comics. Yesterday, the genius artist for Disney comics, who did commission art, Sergio Asteriti, died. He was born on February 13, 1930 in Venice, and began his career in 1952. "Sergio Asteriti was born in Venice, and studied at the Scuola di Magistero d'Arte, section Publicity. In 1952, he moved to Milan, where he was employed by the advertising agency S.P.I.N.T.A. The agency folded two years later, and Asteriti turned to comics. He made his comics debut with the 'Bingo Bongo' series at the publishing house Alpe in 1955. He soon expanded his activities and did illustration work for various publishers and magazines. Asteriti joined the art studios of Roy d'Ami in the late 1950s. There, he drew for the British Fleetway agency ('Fun in Toyland', 'Freddie Frog', etc.) and for Il Corriere dei Piccoli, where he took over the 'Formichino' series from Roberto Sgrilli.
Asteriti has been an artist of Disney comics for Topolino since 1963. From 1974, he also took on the writing of Disney stories. He has mainly done stories with 'Mickey Mouse', but also other characters, such as 'Uncle Scrooge', 'Super Goof', 'Gilbert', 'Tanti Auguri', 'The Prince and the Pauper', 'Indiana Pips'." Taken from the Lambiek encyclopedia. He certainly contributed a lot to the Mickey Mouse universe. He died on August 27, 2024. Kudos to him for his truly outstanding work! Rest in peace! Amen.

With The Rise Of Flynn Rider featuring the tts original character Lance, do you think any future Tangled content may feature tts characters like him, the girls, Cass, or Varian? Or was that just a one time thing and all future works will just feature the films characters? (And I’m not talking about vat7k.)
I think it’s unlikely they’ll show up, but it would be pretty neat if they did occasionally. And Disney has to know that those characters are pretty beloved. Fans would eat up a cameo from Varian or Cass in say, the new Tangled Up In You book.
I sincerely doubt any of them will be in Tangled Up In You, since it's a modern au version of the movie, not the series. There's no reason for there to be a cameo from a series character in it.
I'd say there's a chance of them making it into Lorcana, given that Ducktales and Talespin are in it. That means that the Lorcana team aren't afraid to pull from TV shows, old or new. Not to mention, there's the one card that actively uses the series style, so they're not afraid to pull from that, either.
The Rise of Flynn Rider was being written while the series was still in production, and since it featured Eugene's childhood, it made sense to pull from its cast of characters. (I'm a little surprised you didn't mention the Baron, Stalyan, or Edmund, since they're all in the book, if not focused on for most of it.) When it was first announced, I didn't expect it to have anything to do with the series, but was delightfully surprised as more about it came out.
I'd guess that going forward, the answer isn't zero chance, but it's also not a fantastic chance. The farther we get from the end of the series, the more into the background it sinks. Any new content involving series characters would need to be set carefully post-movie.

🍓🦐🍉 for Dr. Finkelstein and Kaa? :3
Random self ship questions
🍓 what's your favorite thing you own in real life that reminds you of/is about your F/O?
For Fink, it’s definitely my mini-backpack of him, and my Midnight Spell scent spray from Bath and Body Works 😂
For Kaa, my Jungle Book VHS tape and my Illusion of Life: Disney Animation book.
🦐 what color/color combo reminds you most of your F/O?
Fink: White and red.
Kaa: Greens, browns, and the colours of his hypnosis eyes.
🍉 are there any headcanons/"interpretations" of your F/O that the general fandom has that you don't like/hate?
Oh god don’t make me go into a rant asfhfhd
The TNBC fandom loves to portray Fink as a villain. Like, even worse than Oogie Boogie. He created Sally and is an important, respected member of Halloween Town. He’s not evil, he never kidnapped Sally from a super secret Dream realm because he’s incompetent at his fucking job, he’s cranky and lonely at best and an obstacle for Sally to overcome at worst.
Long Live the Pumpkin Queen is still by far the worst piece of TNBC media to come out for both Sally and Finkelstein fans, fucking fight me on this.
As for Kaa…
I seriously don’t understand the obsession of making him a fucking child predator. Yeah, he’s creepy; he’s a snake. Yes, snakes are predators. YES, his voice is unsettling. It fits a SNAKE CHARACTER.
He only went after Mowgli because 1. Mowgli was being a brat and not wanting to leave the jungle, his home. 2. Kaa was most likely hungry and figured Mowgli’s mind was easy enough to put under. 3. Kaa wanted to get back at the kid for humiliating him during their first encounter.
If Mowgli were a grown human or even another animal, Kaa would’ve most likely still gone after him.
It just makes me suspicious when I see someone decide to headcanon a character as something as horrific and disgusting as a child predator. And yes, “fiction is fiction,” I get it, but it makes me extremely uncomfortable.
Even as someone who loves seeing Kaa as a huge perv/sex-fiend (he’s a pimp in my TaleSpin AU for a reason, fellas)… don’t hurt the kids, guys. Come on.

Top 10 Characters I want to see come to Disney Mirrorverse
I am a fan of Disney Mirrorverse. What impresses me the most about it is the story and most of all the character designs. However, there are a lot of other characters who I think have a lot of potential to come to Mirrorverse, and I'm gonna give you my top 10 characters that deserve to come to Mirrorverse. For each pick, I'll be going over what type of character they would be (Melee, Tank, Ranged, or Support), what they're playstyle could be, and maybe how some could be incorporated in the game. Now, this is my picks and not yours, and your picks can be completely different. Now, let's dive right in.
10. Goliath (Gargoyles)[Tank]
Tumblr media
Starting off with the protagonist of a 90s Disney tv show that helped define a lot of childhoods (along Ducktales and Talespin). Goliath is a warrior that has a lot of abilities, from gliding, super strength, his basic claw strikes to even a bit of magic, a healing factor, and a rage mode. I see him as a Tank character, given he also has super durability, given he's a stone statue by day and defender by night.
9. Namaari (Raya and the Last Dragon)[Melee]
Tumblr media
I had to add a villain to this, simply because we have a small number of villains than heroes in Mirrorverse, and I chose Namaari because not only would she be awesome in Mirrorverse, but it should make sense that she come to Mirrorverse since Raya is in the game. I see her Namaari as a Melee character having a playstyle and appearance of an Assassin, given her skills in martial arts and the use of two blades, but she could have an ability where she uses her crossbow for a ranged attack, and an ability where she calls on her big cat to attack enemies, or she can ride on it for some mounted attacks.
8. Robin Hood (Robin Hood)[Ranged]
Tumblr media
Even though we have an archer in Merida in Mirrorverse, I think the OG archer of the Mouse House should come into the game, heck, Merida and Robin Hood could have a friendly rivalry to see who the better archer is (old school archer vs new school archer). But seriously, he would obviously be a Ranged character were he could have the standard abilities of an archer character in any MOBA/RPG game, from volley shots, charged shots, shooting arrows in a cone, etc., but I can also see Robin have an ability where he tosses out three bags of money and if his allies collect one, the will be healed (think Cupid from SMITE and his ability Share the Love); also he could have an ability where when he attacks an enemy, he has a chance to steal health, items, and of course, currency.
7. Merlin (The Sword in the Stone)[Ranged]
Tumblr media
We all know that Merlin is one of the most amazing mentors not just in Disney history, but in all pop culture history. Being such an amazing and powerful sorcerer, he would be a Ranged character, easily harnessing Stellar Magic to give him access to many different spells, like taking inspiration from his counterpart in SMITE. I could even see him being a chief advisor of the Guardians, aiding some of them in training to giving them some helpful advice.
6. Wart aka Arthur Pendragon (The Sword in the Stone)[Melee]
Tumblr media
When Merlin comes to Mirrorverse, Arthur should definitely join him. Arthur does have Excalibur, and thanks to user s10127470, Arthur's Mirrorverse design could have him wear a magical suit of armor created by Merlin to enhance his physical abilities. Arthur's playstyle could possibly be similar to his SMITE counterpart, but given that Merlin is teaching him, Arthur could also be like a Spellblade or an Eldritch Knight, using a bit of magic to empower his sword fighting. While Arthur is still in training (you know, to be a warrior and a freaking king), he's got a lot of allies who have a lot of experience to help him.
5. Kidagakash "Kida" Nedakh (Atlantis: The Lost Empire)[Melee]
Tumblr media
Atlantis: The Lost Empire is a very underrated movie, and it shouldn't be, so having someone from the movie come to Mirrorverse would give it some representation, and while Milo Thatch would also be a good candidate, I had to go with Kida. Much like Merida, Raya, and Mulan, Kida is a warrior princess (in Kida's case, a warrior princess turned queen) with a lot of abilities, from using an Atlantean spear, martial arts, throwing knives, and using Atlantean magic, so her playstyle could go from her warrior side or her mystic side, but thinking about Freya, Maman Bridgitte, and Ao Kuang (SMITE), I think that Kida could be like how they play: having physical basic attacks, and having magic abilities. So, a Melee attacks like using Atlantean magic to power up basic attacks, shooting magical shots, place a shield around an ally, or heal them.
4. Tarzan (Tarzan)[Melee]
Tumblr media
Another warrior from Disney that needs to make it into Mirrorverse. He would clearly be a Melee character where he would use his spear for basic attacks, and even an ability were he throws it like a javelin toss, and taking some inspration from Nidalee (League of Legends) and drawing inspiration from a Totem Warrior from DnD, where he could summon a gorilla spirit to attack enemies, and he can also use his signature cry to raise the attack and critical hit stats of his allies. So yeah, this jungle daddy definitely deserves to make his mark in Mirrorverse.
3. Li Shang (Mulan)[Melee]
Tumblr media
I believe Shang could play similarly to Mulan, but with some creative differences. He would be a Melee character where he uses a sword, like Mulan, but he would also use a bo staff and bow and arrow, and his passive could reflect his lack of sense of pain where attacks from enemies that hit him take half the damage they would normally do. He could also use buffs to raise his allies stats like critical hit chance, focus, etc. He could be incorporated in an event where he oversee's the Guardian's training session and personally training certain Guardians.
2. Prince Naveen (The Princess and the Frog)[Support]
Tumblr media
Since Tiana is an alchemist in Mirrorverse, it only makes sense that Naveen to come to the game as a bard, given his love for music and his main instrument being a small guitar. Naveen would obviously be a Support character where his playstyle can take inspiration from characters like Apollo (SMITE) and Sona (League of Legends), using his music to heal, protect, and buff up his allies, while damaging and debuffing enemies.
Honorable Mentions
Davy Jones (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest)[Melee]
Shan Yu (Mulan)[Tank]
Captain Phoebus (The Hunchback of Notre Dame)[Melee]
Esmeralda (The Hunchback of Notre Dame)[Support]
Pocahontas (Pocahontas)[Support or Ranged]
Darkwing Duck (Darkwing Duck)(Ranged)
The Headless Horseman (The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad)[Melee]
Prince Eric (The Little Mermaid)[Melee]
Prince Phillip (Sleeping Beauty)[Melee]
Tumblr media
I had to put Prince Phillip on the top spot because he should've already been in the game when it first came out. I mean, the guy is one of the most proactive characters in the Mouse House and he clearly knows his way around a fight. He would be a Melee character utilizing his classic arsenal: the Sword of Truth and the Shield of Virtue, and possibly taking some inspiration from Lancelot (SMITE) and even Leona (League of Legends). Also, since Princess Aurora is coming to Mirrorverse, Prince Phillip needs to join her.
That's it, everyone, feel free to comment, but keep any and all shady comments to yourself, or be blocked. Thank you and God bless.

I've been on a slight classic Disney TV Animation kick.
I'm talking mid-1980s to early 1990s era DTVA... The era of DUCKTALES, CHIP N' DALE RESCUE RANGERS, TALESPIN, DARKWING DUCK, etc. I loved these shows as a kid, as I caught the many re-runs of them on Toon Disney in the late '90s when staying over my grandparents' house during the summer days before my mum got home from work.
And the funny thing is, when reading up on these shows and their histories... If a ton of these shows were being made today? I think they'd be met with a lot of doubt and skepticism on the Internet...
Like... "TALESPIN? Wtf is this? JUNGLE BOOK characters as cargo pilots in an INDIANA JONES-esque adventure setting? Chip and Dale lookin' like Indiana Jones and Magnum P.I.? Trying too hard to be relevant and cool. So dated! A Disney cartoon about Gummi Bears??? A candy??? Disney is totally out of ideas, man-"
And yet, the fledgling division - a brainchild of the newly-arrived CEO Michael Eisner, who saw that Disney had long barely contributed to the world of episodic television animation - went through with these shows circa 1985-1993... They came out, kids and audiences watched them, they all did very well, are fondly-remembered favorites of American animation's 2nd Golden Age. The early batch of shows arguably changed the game for TV animation in the states, which was by then soaked in toy commercials and cliche kidvid stuff.
And I almost get the feeling that once the Golden Age went full-throttle with the advent of THE SIMPSONS, Nickelodeon's "Nicktoons", Warner Animation's offerings (many of which involving Steven Spielberg!), MTV's groundbreaking adult cartoons, and many more, Disney TV Animation did have some re-routing. The early '90s was a kind of weird era for them, when they put out shows like BONKERS, RAW TOONAGE, and THE SCHNOOKUMS AND MEAT FUNNY CARTOON SHOW. The game was changing fast, and soon they were wowing once more with the likes of GARGOYLES, and venturing into other territory with shows like PEPPER ANN. They'd get creators of shows that were hits on other networks, such as Paul Germain from RUGRATS, who co-created RECESS with Joe Ansolabehere, who had previously worked on another iconic Nick show, HEY ARNOLD!
Kinda makes me think of where Disney Animation has been for a bit these past few years, in an era where the mainstream feature animation game is changing fast. And how! And it's not that what they do is bad or - as largely insufferable people say - "mid". Release something like ENCANTO or RAYA AND THE LAST DRAGON or even STRANGE WORLD in 2015, it'd be praised, most people would be in agreement, "Yeah, another strong entry from the revitalized WDAS." Of course, RAYA and ENCANTO enjoyed solid reviews and excellent streaming results, and STRANGE WORLD even got pretty passing grade reviews (whereas something like the MARIO movie... Didn't. Funny how that works), but large chunks of weird animation fans on the internet seem to think they're all just "mid" or whatever... It's some console wars-caliber nonsense, I think, that's reductionist. If I didn't like something, I still acknowledge the hard work put in by the filmmakers/crew (especially crucial amidst the writer and actors' strike), and go about my day. I'm not pitting STRANGE WORLD against PUSS IN BOOTS 2, for sure. There's no reason for me to do so.
I thought about how in ANIMANIACS, they took potshots at BONKERS. The same era as "SEGA does what NintenDON'T." Those extreeeeeeme aaaaattitude '90s!
I know, because I lived most of that decade.
BONKERS is a show that fascinates me (I recently wrote a little thing about it on my main tumblr), and I thought while watching it... Release this show in 1988, and *not* 1993, it's likely hailed as groundbreaking. A cartoon trying to be zany and fun like 1940s Tex Avery cartoons, visually satisfying and nicely realized, and much more original than - say - the umpteenth CARE BEARS cartoon or the new Hanna-Barbera ersatz Scooby-Doo stuff. But, post-TINY TOONS, post-REN & STIMPY, and sitting next to ANIMANIACS, it seemingly just could not compare. It also didn't help that it was heavily inspired by the amazing film that is WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT, its characters and premise ostensibly being a replacement for a property Disney could no longer do stuff with because of their feud with co-owner Spielberg. (Which puts TINY TOONS and ANIMANIACS' potshots at Disney and BONKERS, respectively, into perspective.)
Similarly, Hanna-Barbera - long one of the studio names synonymous with TV animation in America - were in an odd place themselves, until they - under the stewardship of one Fred Seibert - began bringing in some incredible talent like Genndy Tartakovsky, Paul Rudish, Rob Renzetti, to name a few... We had moved away from the likes of YO YOGI!, TOM AND JERRY KIDS, and SIMPSONS-chasing "adult" cartoons like CAPITOL CRITTERS and FISH POLICE... 2 STUPID DOGS, which had been dismissed as a REN & STIMPY wannabe by some folks back in the day, was really a launchpad for those talents. And soon, Hanna-Barbera Productions was rockin' the mid-to-late '90s with all the iconic Cartoon Network shows we all know and love... Kinda makes me think of how Illumination gets looked at, they've been around for some time and they "churn out" stuff that's just "mid" or "bland" or whatever, but I think post-SING 2, post-MINIONS 2, there's a sort-of newfound appreciation for them in some circles. Somewhat. SUPER MARIO BROS. MOVIE got a pass from a lot of people engaging in these weird console wars, despite its middling critical reception and a lot of folks saying it actually wasn't good. (I liked it fine, but I felt it was more a "Mario's Greatest Hits" showcase than an actual movie.) But, Illumination has an adult animation division (Moonlight) firing up, some pretty dynamic side projects and shorts, too. They even got talent like Benjamin Renner, who directed the upcoming MIGRATION. They're doin' something right if they got him.
I think, more than anything, things change so fast in entertainment. Tastes change, things trend, animated movies take a while to come out and are largely determined at a stage long before a print (or digital file) of the finished film projects onto a screen somewhere. How does one know what the world looks like, culturally, five years after they have started their film? Let alone 2 years? It's why I don't pile on films like ELEMENTAL, STRANGE WORLD, LIGHTYEAR, RUBY GILLMAN, et al losing money. They seemed surefire when they signed off on them, and like William Goldman said... No one knows anything!
I dunno, I thought I'd just relate some current feature animation things to what was happening in TV animation some 30 years ago... all because I was watching TALESPIN and BONKERS and such-

Obscure Animation Subject #93: Jungle Cubs
This is the second cartoon based on the Disney version of The Jungle Book, following TaleSpin, and this show serves as a prequel to the 1967 film, where the animal characters in their childhood. Seeing more of the animal characters is a delight since they were the best parts of the Disney film, and seeing them as kids and taking place before the original film sounds cute. But how’s the execution?
Ehhh… just safe and boring. At least in Talespin there was some uniqueness and charm to be found every now and then, but in Jungle Cubs it’s pretty basic and uninteresting. You have the typical stories you would see in kids shows, and the characters are pretty two-dimensional, same with the settings. This show somehow was a hit when it originally aired, but it seems like the studio behind it didn’t care for it, hence probably why the second season is shorter than a typical season of a 90s cartoon.
I wouldn’t say this show is horrible, the animation is okay and there’s some occasional chuckle-worthy moments, but the studio already made another Jungle Book series that’s far more memorable and better. If you’re a huge fan of The Jungle Book, I wouldn’t even say go out of your way to see this one, go watch TaleSpin instead. TaleSpin has a stronger premise and better effort.

Finally finished the new Ducktales show (yeah, a couple years late on this one) and honestly... not super impressed with season 3 as a whole? Hated what they did to my Kit (Talespin), not a fan of the Webby twist (she was my favorite character in the original as a young girl who watched the show). Just feeling really meh. First two seasons were great, third shouldn’t have been made IMHO.

Okay, the last days I dug trough my old art-very old pieces I did when I was a youth. I want to post them here because I never posted them in the net before. Sorry for the bad quality, my first drawings were mostly done on DIN A 3 Format, so I had to photograph them. They are all small poster size.
Do someone remember Disneys "Tale Spin" Series with air captain Baloo?
Well, here I did a Peter-Pan Version with Pan being the pilot and John being the orphan boy and co-pilot. Because I was and still am a big fan of the movie Hook with Robin Williams. But my Pan always looks like Peter Venkman because I am a fan of the real Ghostbusters too. And you will see later, why I combined these two characters. Well and you can imagine that Hook and his band are the air pirates. And Talespin is a great series.
