Valerie loved Jackie. Jackie and Mama Welles were/are her surrogate family. Misty became like a sister to her. When Jackie died and Johnny literally clicked into her brain, she had to move on real quick and never really got to mourn properly before she had to figure out what was going on. She says now that Johnny is her best friend, because he really gets her inside and out, but she’d never admit it out loud.

Valerie isn’t the craziest person about Takemura at the moment. She doesn’t hate the guy but also doesn’t trust him within an ounce of her life. Otherwise She considered Dexter Deshawn her enemy, because if it weren’t for him, Jackie would be alive.

-The catcalling/name-calling she gets on the streets: No one wants that, no one needs that, and she’s shot more people than she can count because some dipshit said she looked fuckable. 

-Filth. Dirt in general. She’s a very clean and neat person despite growing up on the streets. 

-Too many Cybernetics on the face. Which is shocking, given the world she lives in. She’d rather date someone who had little to no cybernetics on their face (cough cough johnny), because she says that skews the person behind said chrome.

(A WIP snippet from my fanfic The Lovers & The Sun. Vera and Goro are living happily with the Aldecados and are the proud parents of a baby girl they named Hikaru Takemura. The first chapter starts from Goro’s pov, where he contemplates the events that led him to leave Arasaka, marrying a nomad, and having a child. I was in the mood for some family fluff, and this happened)

Obsessively, he’d kept track of every detail of his wife’s pregnancy. Still, he hadn’t been prepared for the sheer emotion of watching V round out, of feeling the small kicks and flutters of the baby grow into stronger, more demanding ones. And if the mere emotionalism had blindsided him, how had Vera felt? Sometimes, even during the physical misery of the last month of pregnancy, he’d caught an expression on her face, a rapt, absorbed look as she unconsciously stroked her belly, that told him she was lost in a world inhabited only by herself and their baby. And then Hikaru had arrived, squalling and healthy, and Goro had felt light-headed with relief and euphoria.

In the six weeks since each day seemed to bring some small change as the infant grew; the dark fuzz on her head had become curly like her mother’s, her eyes were the same shade of brown as his and alert. His daughter was noticing things, recognizing voices, waving her chubby little arms and legs in a jerky, uncoordinated rhythm as her muscles grew in strength, cooing happily whenever Panam or Mitch lifted her in their arms. She loved bathtime. She loved being bundled up in the baby sling Mitch had made for her. She cried when she was hungry. Slept after feeding. Vera had been able to tell the difference within days.

The changes in his nomad wife were fascinating, too. Vera had always had a way of holding herself apart from the world as if she were more an observer than a participant. A nomad far from home and living in the suffocating confines of that wretched cesspool Night City. 

She’d been a silent puzzle from the moment he’d first found her lying there half-dead in that landfill, but he had stubbornly worked to earn her trust until she couldn’t help but notice him as a person rather than a soulless follower of Arasaka. Goro could remember perfectly the exact moment when he’d succeeded: they had been in hiding at the Sunset Motel, and in the middle of patching each other’s wounds and bickering and apologizing for not doing enough to help the other, Vera had looked at him and stared, a faintly soft expression crossing her face as if he were her entire world. That was it; no weeping, no heartfelt exchanges in the night, just a sudden gentle clarity in her gaze as she finally, truly saw him. Then she smiled and leaned forward to kiss him...,

...and he’d kissed her back.

Additionally (as if i didn’t have enough work already) I’m working (not really because of writer’s block) on 7 books (on like wattpad y’know, but i‘m planning on releasing it on AO3) with multiple chapters about my V and Kerry 😬 and yes they’re very angsty
