Real fan art is coming one day, but for now I really wanted to see if it was feasible to simplify their gradients into something that would fit a simple style like Bluey’s 😅
.
#aaaaaaaaaAAA#they're so precious I can't ;m;#I still haven't watched Bluey so I can't really comment on show accuracy but to me these look spot on#if you ask me the gradients work really well#if you look at them and unfocus your eyes they look like their normal markings#Vasco might benefit from having one more band between the base yellow and the lighter brown but that's totally optional and might take away#from the simplicity of his design#their colors are so true to the way I color them which is both cool and kind of uncanny#like Machete's pink details which in reality are very peachy almost closer to light orange than true pink#and their colored linearts which use the same colors I use for my colored linearts#I don't know I thought that was really cool attention to detail#they're adorable#thank you!#gift art#apupcalyptic#own characters#Machete#Vasco#their lives would be a lot less stressful in bluey universe I reckon

hi!!!! there been news articles saying that the working conditions of spiderverse were rlly rlly bad to the point of 100 ppl quitting or someting…. sorry to be liek an annoying reporter and b kinda invasive but is this tru D:
the big article that came out, for anyone curious: https://www.vulture.com/2023/06/spider-verse-animation-four-artists-on-making-the-sequel.html
there are some aspects about the article that i don't feel comfortable commenting on, but yes a lot of animators did quit. a lot of it had to do with the issues mentioned in the article, but a lot also left because disney opened a studio in vancouver (where sony imageworks is located) and had to hire an entire crew. i don't blame people for leaving spiderverse to get in on being a part of establishing the disney vancouver studio
i will also say that some of the information going around is incorrect; we did not work 11 hours a day, 7 days a week for over a year. working 7 days a week is illegal, and though some people worked sundays, they were clearly told that they could not work the next saturday if they worked a sunday. we encouraged people to not work ghost hours, and OT was always optional (except for saturday work towards the end, but nobody was punished or anything if they couldn't work a saturday). we also get paid for OT. i was on the movie for over a year but we certainly weren't crunching that whole time. like the article said, we were idle for a long time
it was undeniably a hard movie to work on and with such a large crew, everyone had a wide variety of experiences. the anonymous animators in the article aren't wrong, but i will say that there are people that felt differently, or not as strongly as them. it's a complicated issue that doesn't have a simple solution
i just hope this doesn't tarnish your view of the movie. we worked hard on it and everyone's immense celebration of the animation is making all that hard work very worth it!
#asks#anonymous#also mr sony let me take a huge ass vacation without making me feel guilty at all about it#and i keep my benefits while i'm away#so#yes working conditions can always be improved but we did the best we could with the cards we were dealt#i was also encouraged at several points during production by my boss and producer to take time off when i was showing signs of burn out#good beans#spiderverse

the poor little meow meow-ifictation of saionji in this fandom has got to stop i can't take it any more
#he is an interesting character yes and i like him but some of you act like he is eternally and exclusively a victim which is not true#yes he is a victim of akio and of the narrative (like every other character. he is not perticularly special in this regard)#no he is not a victim of the patriarchy (he in fact benefits from it directly at the cost of the girls around him)#no he is not a victim of wakaba (??not sure where this even came from) no he is not a victim of anthy (watch the first episode again maybe)#some of you are at all times 2 steps away from becoming the next misandry in the utena fandom person#“erm the way he is punished by the narrative for failing to live up to the masculine ideal of the prince-#-is basically just as bad as the systemic abuse he participates in putting girls through“#good lord i do not want to hear your takes on any real world feminist issues#m#bad takes#(should probably remember to use that tag. even though this isn't really about anything super specific)#and it's not about any of my mutuals to be clear. you all know how to actually be critical of how much he sucks#AND write good nuanced analysis. shockingly you can do both. actually i don't think one is possible without the other

Fair warning: I don't think this is going to be a question, just a few post-latest chapter thoughts haphazardly stacked together under a trenchcoat.
Thank you for this chapter. It made my day to read something almost fluffy (I don't think anything in LH can be called purely fluff, and that's a good thing because fluff is best when it is padding for the plot, and that's what this chapter was).
LH Book 5 has been the beginning of payoff for the Dramione slow burn, and while that is immensely satisfying, it also means there are less milestones to look forward to. I don't know if this was an intentional decision, but I love how you started seeding in another slow burn that has kept us equally invested: the Black family drama.
I love reading anything that does the dysfunctional family dynamic well, and seeing Draco getting old enough to identify it clearly, have questions, testing his boundaries, fighting back against what he's been told to accept, has all been immensely satisfying as someone who has gone through this myself. Your depiction of the Black family dynamics has been /chef's kiss/. * spoiler for chapter 70 * when Draco witnesses his cousins casually throwing information his way, what I wanted was for one of the adults to see how much he needed that information, that connection, and give it to him. My god ❤️ You have written a lonely boy craving family so well.
Back to the Dramione of it all (and this might be a question), I love how Harry chose to approach the contained chaos waiting to unravel around him and just bluntly told Draco what he did. Question: do you think this is something Canon Harry would have done in this instance? Was there a choice to change anything in your characterisation of Harry (with respect to Canon) that resulted in this wonderful, blunt, more-mature-than-many-adults-who-can't-even-identify-their-needs version of Harry?
If not, what canon Harry actions/traits do you think would point to him acting this way?
Thank you! This is a beautiful and very kind trench coat, and I am luxuriating in it.
I will answer your question while continuing to luxuriate: I don't think canon Harry would ever confront his friends about an emotional problem, mostly because because he never does. Hermione and Ron, the two people he's most comfortable with in the world, are feuding for most of HBP, and while he does have a few "can't you guys just get along?" type-outbursts, he doesn't really sit down and ask "hey, what's going on with you? How can I help?" because canon!Harry is, as you might expect for a 15-year-old boy, better at ignoring his problems than solving them. (I also think there's an ingredient of conflict-avoidance in there from his upbringing with the Dursleys, but I'll be the first to admit that's mostly headcanon.)
My Harry is a bit softer — in part because that's just how I prefer my Harry, my favorite scenes with him are those where he's showing tenderness for things other people have neglected. This is the best of him, and this is the core of him, in my opinion. Canon Harry has this marvelous capacity for empathy, and when he chooses to use it, it's kind of astonishing how capable he is of resisting prejudice and caring for people. He's fiercely loyal in defending Hagrid, always. He makes a point of freeing Dobby, who's just spent a book trying to maim him. He refuses to let Sirius kill Pettigrew, even knowing that Pettigrew betrayed his parents ("My dad wouldn't want you to" — sweet boy, you mean you don't want them to, and you understand on some level that's the only thing you can say that will stop them.) He saves Gabrielle Delacour, because even if she would have been safe in the end, he's not leaving a little girl at the bottom of a fucking lake. He reads the Half-Blood Prince's handwriting — Snape's handwriting — and thinks: "I bet he's someone like me." On the basis of handwriting, he empathizes with this person! Harry is constantly trying to save people, and he doesn't ever really tell us why. And we'll never know why canon!Harry does that, consciously or subconsciously, but I have to imagine that every time Harry looks at someone in pain, he sees a lonely kid stuck under a staircase, and he thinks not fucking today.
#the emotional maturity — such as it is — I attribute to having more of mrs weasley's influence#in that lionheart takes him away from the dursleys and basically never sends him back#i don't think lionheart!molly would let it happen and lionheart!sirius certainly wouldn't#this is not criticism of the original — I've said many times that the early HP books are weird because they're children's books#so stuff like. child neglect. for instance. isn't treated That Seriously#because why on earth would it be it's a children's book!#and we ignore things like that in children's books because we don't take any of it#THAT seriously. except then you have to retroactively frame#harry's past as a realistic adult figure in the later books#and then it all sort of fractures. tonally speaking.#so the only thing I would claim lionheart has in that respect is the benefit of foresight#in knowing that there are going to be 7 books and they are going to explore#these characters as adults. that's all!#which is my ultimate justification of: i think this is what harry would have been#if the author had known that the books were going to follow him into adulthood#and had wanted to set up the man that harry purports to be in Book 7 a little earlier. that's all!#lionheart spoilers#lionheart#greenteacup asks

I wish I could do school part time. It would make my life so much easier and I would have so much more energy to do things I actually wanted like create art and get back into community work and start new hobbies but unfortunately the university would send me to a glue factory for suggesting the current workload is overwhelming
#they take all of your funding away and disqualify you for applying to any grant#and disability benefits are a joke they would just make my life harder than it is currently#and like the funding I get right now is the only reason I can pay rent each month so lol. Full time studies it is baby!!!!#just reminiscing about the amount of organising work I did like 7-8 years ago. augh. simpler times

I know you're keeping Clear Sky as an antagonist (and he's very compelling as one in your rewrite), but I'm curious: if you absolutely had to give him a redemption arc, how would you go about it? (Besides not fridging his sister and wives, of course.)
If I was forced to give Clear Sky a redemption arc I'd slip a femur right out of my legmeat and beat someone to death with it
I'd never write a redemption arc for him, ever. It would be a completely different character.
Clear Sky's redemption arc is not even an idea worth considering; This an extremely consistent abusive family member who drives the entire plot, a predator who will leverage the love people have for him, whose defining characteristic is that he dresses up his megalomania as "Just Trying to Protect Everyone"
And I'd give that up?! for what?
I'd rewrite the whole plot, JUST like how the writers did with TWO born evil foreigner villains so their story wouldn't get boring, so I could prove the he could be a good boy if he wanted to? WHY?
It's doing the same thing the Erins do, totally uninterested in the story of his victims to write yet another plot centered around the pain of an abusive man.
Elder Bones is disappointed in you if you even think about it, actually. I am holding the femurbone in my hand as we speak. I'm gonna GETCHA
#Bone Babble#Clear Sky can be redeemed in my wine cellar. if he'd like to come down to take a look#And I am sorry but like. I've never seen it done well. ever#When other people attempt it#I have never enjoyed an AU or an analysis post exploring some possibility for an alternate redemption arc#And I have seen a *LOT* of them#Every single one has played into legitimizing his Oh So Sincere Pain And Regret#HELL no!!!#NO he fucking doesn't!! EVERYTHING revolves around power to this character!#Any moments of sincere reflection or remorse get shoved down in the pursuit of more power and respect#He is incapable of sitting with his shame and that's INTERESTING#How he's a complete weasel who will find a way to twist the words of authority telling him to Cut It Out into something that benefits him#How the emotions people feel when interacting with him is either Guilt or Fanatic Affection#He's a horrible and toxic person!! The kind of person you're VERY lucky to get away from#So I've never actually seen anyone do it in a way that works.#And I'm not entirely convinced it exists. Anything is possible but no. Not in my house

What people often confuse, I think, is the idea that you can have specific benefits in different situations, but that is not the same as having systemic privileges for whatever identity/presentation/assumed identity or presentation that was given benefits.
If you want an example of what I mean, I have experienced some better treatment as people have recognized me as male, but society doesn't offer me systemic benefit because I'm a trans man - my transness, even in a context of being seen or assumed as a man, is not granted to me. I'm not saying that I don't ever get treated better in certain instances where I am seen as a man (even if I'm seen as a cis man), what I am saying is that that is different than systemic privileges. I think that difference matters, since people see systemic benefits as indications that people don't need help, or even that those people need to be "taken down a peg." This viewpoint isn't conducive to helping people, if that's what your goal is.
I use myself as an example just so people aren't confused. This is a complex topic that is, fundamentally, intersectional. If the only voices being heard are one type, we will be coming away with a dangerously narrow view of how social benefits and societal privilege work.
#politics#conditional benefits are still *conditional*#people that treat me better because they assume i am a cis man for example will...#...take that benefit away the picosecond they smell transsexuality on me...#...and i have a hard time believing that is *systemic* benefit on my end y'know#the conversations around societal benefits and how systemic privileges exist are (and should remain) complex and intersectional#and i just don't buy into the idea that minirities should never have *any* benefits because that is 'systemic privilege'#having it a tiny bit better does not a systemic privilege make is my point#and while i do have some benefits granted while i am assumed to be a cis man... i'm still seen as not het and i'm seen as a *queer* man#have probably talked about this before but i still see people doing this so 👍

#reconsidering my position on giving condescending old white men the benefit of the doubt#it's just the way they talk down to u and how they clearly think of themselves as the most important and coolest ppl in the world#freaky experience to be treated like this but like they can't actually harm me in any way so. whatever#it's sooo weird I can't believe I am 18 yrs old and recognizing that I'm experiencing misogyny for the first time#who u should be honored to speak to and the way they get too fucking close to u. like fuck all the way off oh my god#I have got to stop being so shy and pathetic bc all I am doing is playing directly into their expectations of me#guy who said he thought I was 13 or 15 and then proceeded to shake my hand for too long and grab my shoulder as he walked away. ewww#whatever. they fucking. called me into the labour office because quote "they found a job that fits my requirements" and turns out they called in like 30 people and the cops made a presentation on why we should works as cops in a different county. multiple people were like "why didnt you tell us this in the email, this was a huge waste of time, I couldn't even apply if I wanted to cause I don't have a high school education / someone here served jail time. this is so stupid" and then everyone walked out angrily so i'm glad at least people don't want to be cops
#there was a mother with a small child. and people were saying they have unrelated education. and transportation is not free to get there#wasting everyones time and money#like this is where the cops and the military want to get people from. desperate unemployed people#fuck the entire system but cops especially#the fucking email was worded in a way that if i dont accept the job that im offered with good reason they will take away my benefits#cool. not predatory at all

Years pass but people still remain gross about WAGs. And now they dress it up with “intellectual” terms like industrial complex and post-colonial supremacist whatchamacallit. Give me the messy puck bunny blogs at least they’re open about hating WAGs.
Yeah, I can't say I have many complex things to say on the topic, except that that dialogue has been in this fandom forever (all fandoms forever; tumblr, the birthplace of the 'not-like-other-girls-girl') but it's especially bad in rpf and I'm exhausted of reading the same tired iterations on "well, I could NEVER understand how another woman could live like that--" STOP. Just stop it, it's not your life, and it's likely never going to be your life, for all the aforementioned unfair reasons. You don't have to compare yourselves to them constantly. It doesn't make you lesser or them better for being (presumably) born into a more privileged circumstance and it doesn't make them lesser and you better for achieving some enlightened pearl of knowledge.
The puck bunny blogs irk me just as much, and if you find one better than the other I guess it's more a question of what rolls your stomach more: spite or smugness. But in my opinion, calling Kathy an ageing escort that Sid pitty dates is just as nauseating as talking down your nose about her like she's some ignorant waif that cant make her own decisions about her life or her relationship.
Yes, the NHL is an intrinsically racist, misogynistic, homophobic, capitalist, fatphobic--and all the other bad terrible things--nightmare creature whose ailment runs all the way up to the giant sucking malignancy attached to its heart that is Garry Bettman and Bill Dayley, and further, to the executives that they shill for, and even further back to the time period, tenets, and culture that the sport was founded on. Remember, this is the same organization whose administrative and players (retired and current) repeatedly spit in the face of their teammates who've suffered chronic and debilitating injuries, and continue to mock journalists and veterans who try to bring those issues to the forefront, stating that the injury is worth it to win -- (or that the possibility of injury is worth it, considering these comments so often come from players that are still relatively hale).
Hmmm, sounds incredibly familiar to the position the NHL takes on another rampant issue in the sport: sexual assault.
There's a reason why the NHL is falling behind in popularity (and in value) compared to other sports organisations and it's because they cling to their archaic values and methods and flat-out refuse to let them go -- and thus attract players and administrative and fans who find all that entails appealing. It's not everyone in the sport obviously but it's a large enough faction to keep things stagnant -- just go take a look at Ian Kenedy's twitter page and start scrolling through the replies to his tweets if you want a taste of what we're up against here.
If you want to do anything, ANYTHING AT ALL to help improve the hockey culture, there are multiple avenues to explore that might actually make a difference --first of all getting involved in your community not just the internet community-- in chipping away at who this game attracts, how they see themselves, how they see others, how they see hockey players, and how those hockey players see themselves and others. Those avenues do not include dunking on wags. I get it, they all look the same, haha. it's weird, their children and husbands can't tell them apart, hahaha. There, I said it too and now I never have to hear that fucking joke again. Move ON.
I understand that the lines between reality and fiction can blur easily when it comes to rpf, but making actually, completely serious judgements on other people's private emotional lives and relationships is completely out of the realm of reality. You can't know, you can never know completely. It can be difficult enough to identify these things when it comes to a friend or a family member how are you possibly going to make a pronouncement that someone's relationship is stale or without intimacy or connection when literally have no idea who they really are? I've been stalked and I've had people write fanfiction about me and I can 100% say that what they gleamed of who I was and what my life was like from the outside did not run true.
Analyzing those aspects and their intersexuality is worthwhile -- if anyone has an actual interest in these topics I suggest reading: Wille O'ree's biography, Bern Saunder's biography, Fred Sasakamoose's Call Me Indian, Black Ice: The Lost History of the Colored Hockey League of the Maritimes by Darril and George Frosy, On Account of Darkness by Ian Kennedy, Why I didn't say anything by Sheldon Kennedy, Crossing The Line by Laura Robinson, Major Misconduct by Jeremy Allingham, Finding Murph by Rick Westhead -- There are more than that if you're willing to dig for them ... but especially after the back to back Kyle Beach and Hockey Cannada lawsuits I've just had it to up to here with the takes about the ~uwu poor hockey men~~ and their repressed homosexual longings and lack of overall male intimacy and companionship --- who do you think is doing said repressing?? THE HORRIBLE UWU MEN. (Said in exaggeration and jest but also not fucking really.) They are victims unto themselves. 99% refuse to speak up or do anything about the inequality, harassment, and overall intrinsic issues in the sport, the ones who bravely do are shunned by the others who refuse to help themselves or others. They don't see themselves as emotionally underdeveloped manchildren stranded on the frigid island of masculine solitude and arrested development. They like their lives, they don't care about what kind of impact that lifestyle has on other people (or on the environment or on the economy). They like their cookie-cutter world, conservative sandbox and comfortable wealthy liberalism... and most of all they like their hot blond skinny wives and they don't care what sort of social constructs have led to them pursuing a very specific type of woman. The vast majority of them have zero interest in having their eyes opened to a more complex and diverse worldview and it's not the fault of anyone but themselves, least of all the women who get pulled along in their wake.
#no offence to the ghost of andrea dworkin but I feel her possess me every time I'm forced to here a take like this#not that i claim to be in her league in literally anything only that the wags would benefit from living together all together in a lesbian#commune away from the internet experiencing bliss and many orgasms while the men are doomed to play out a pantomime of heterosexual sex#on the ice penetrating each other with their skate blades and sticks and shins and elbows night after night forever all the while grinning#and proclaiming it's all for the love of the game#im sure this is filled with spelling errors and mistakes but im tired and i tap out#ill be back when i have saved up enough energy for my next rant or someone posts a new picture of steve yzerman in the tag
