ok uhhh before i draw the racing au stuff. i got a couple questions. like. which characters are the racers n which r the mechanics. also what's the vibe of the vehicles. r they like normal racing cars or like motorcycles or something. how sci-fi should i get with it.

Male fictional characters that make me go "My man!"

Short note: only choosing four characters is hella hard..

1. Franz Leopold de Dracas (die Erben der Nacht - Ulrike schweikert) for everybody who knows my Blog this is pretty obvious. I just love him with all my heart and compare every single man fictional or not to him. I could write a whole novel on why I love him...

2. Kaz Brekker (six of crows/crooked kingdom- Leigh Bardugo) yeah he's Kaz, come on!

3. Noc (the beast charmer series- Maxym M. Martineau) He's amazing! Not only is he one of the hottest love interests but also the kindest. He's missing the toxic things many love interests these days have (Yes I'm looking at you booktok girlies who are in love with Zade Meadows!!!)Also can we talk about how he holds Leena in this picture!

4. Lars af Dracas (heirs of the night tv) Yes I know he's supposed to basically be Franz Leopold, but they are so different that I see them as different people! This doesn't mean I like him less. No! I love them both equally! They are my all time favourites and nobody can even come close to them!

I figured I might as well make a Foldletta master post here because this AU eats away at my brain from time to time; technically her name is Suletta Pulone Du Noc, but it's mildly easier to call her Foldletta, Ericht's 13th clone that ended up as a memoryless orphan on Earth after displaying "failures" in her genetic code. Suletta is the only name she remembers, so she starts calling herself that.

Terrorist found family is a very important dynamic that's core to the Foldletta canon. Sophie found Suletta abandoned on the streets and took her into the Fold as sister, eventually introducing her to Norea and forming an ever deeper bond between the three of them.

Foldletta still has the kind and caring personality of Suletta, it's just that she's got a lot of reasons to hate other people (Spacians) and is a lot more direct and ruthless about using violence as a way to keep her family and friends safe.

Another important dynamic is Suletta (Pulone Du Noc) going to Asticassia with Nika and despising Suletta (Mercury) when they first meet for very obvious reasons; having her face, what she believes to be an easier childhood, and a Gundam that doesn't hurt her feeds into Pulone's jealousy, especially because Mercury is capable of being kind and accepting to anyone, no matter if they're Spacian or Earthian, something that Pulone struggles with daily.

Both Sulettas are like the Sun and Moon, and Pulone hates that Mercury is able to still be as shine as much as she does even after going through all sorts of horrible experiences, especially because they are both clones of the same person. She does eventually warm up to Mercury, but still feels vastly inferior to her and ultimately undeserving of her kindess.

After their first meeting, Earth House (and pretty much everyone in Asticassia) starts having to differentiate between Sulettas by using their surnames.

And the last dynamic that's core to this AU is Suletta and Nika, childhood friends separated by circumstances outside of their control but reunited by a chance encounter at a Permet space elevator heading for Asticassia. She takes the Lfrith Fehu along with her in the pretense of "being ready for an operation" so she can enroll in the piloting course and stay together with Nika. Y'know, the things friends do.

In this canon, the Lfrith Fehu is the third Gundam-type mobile suit built alongside the Lfrith Ur and the Lfrith Thorn. It's main design cues were used in the Gundvölva's development, and the unmanned mobile suits had details altered based on the Fehu's combat data obtained in Asticassia's duels. It's distinct weapons are the Tempest Blade, a rifle-saber, and the Beam Repeaters, a pair of automatic hand-held weapons. It's also equiped with the standard-issue Ochs Earth shield on it's right arm, and the Phased Array Cannon like the Ur and Thorn.

The Fehu is colored red, thus making it three times as fast a normal Gundam /j

Hopefully having THIS up leads me to not forgetting details from time to time...

post-Tyrant Ami angst because I’m love her. There’s a long version of this fic still in my head, but the full emotional arc requires the court-martial and I don’t want to do judicial worldbuilding. it’s just not gonna happen. I’m admitting this to myself and kicking it out as is, it’s been sitting around for long enough already.

I tagged it as Alternate Universe because I’m not sure this is where Dickinson is going, but maybe Baru 4 will come out and I'll be able to go back and remove the AU tag in vindication. I live in hope.

i don’t really have anything to say about this one. it’s another fic about the inherent horrors of anchoring! it’s exactly what it says on the tin! read it if you wanna have a bad time with Mahar!

well, okay, a couple of things. this was very loosely inspired by @elan-morin-tedronai’s every sky, which is a really excellent set of vignettes over a sixty-year relationship. the two fics don’t have a lot in common but the characterization influence is definitely there, and also it kind of took over my brain and now I can’t write Mahar in anything other than second person. it’s a compelling perspective for him: second person gives some readers the sense that they’re being addressed directly, but to me it can evoke a very specific kind of intimacy/detachment, a POV as close as first person but with a character who refers to themselves as “you,” the vibe of trying to order your body around in your own internal monologue because yourself isn’t really listening. very good. a stylistic choice i am happy to copy.

I do differ from every sky on one point: I think Kujen’s anchors usually survive the arrangement. Yes, he disposes of Jedao’s anchors, but Jedao’s are mostly prisoners and Kel; Kujen’s are usually researchers. and it’s a hell of a leap to go from euthanizing anchors as soon as you’re finished with them to offering the last one moth-derived immortality! that is one of the things Algebraic is about. among other things.

Really unfun headcanon I had because my brain hates me: what if El5n and Norea du Noc knew each other before the events that lead to them joining their respective factions? And El5n doesn’t know, because he lost those memories as part of Peil’s experiments, and Norea doesn’t know because he looked entirely different back then and there’s no way he’ll still be alive, right? And then he meets her during the Open House, and says they’ll get along well, and there’s this little part of him that says “like we used to” and he doesn’t know where it comes from. And then they talk during the walk, and the sense of familiarity just gets stronger, and then after Eri mind-zaps him the memories start to come back the way El4n’s did. And so he finds her in the basement, and gets a solid understanding of what’s going on, and he reaches out to her because he never had any of his past left to him before. Not even his own face, and yet here she is. And he wants so badly for her to live, just live, the way she used to when he knew her… and she never finds out that she knew this boy before, that he does understand a little bit of what’s it’s like to be Earthian, never knows that they were friends once.
