Mal's Teen Wolf rewatch: Frenemy (2x06)

Guys, I hate to break it to you, but I’m rewatching Teen Wolf as an adult and:

-Derek isn’t an interesting or even good character til like season 3

-Isaac and Allison shouldn’t have been a thing (but could’ve been something w Scott 👀)

-Boyd and Erica should’ve had more time and been flushed out more

-Kora felt very thrown-in and wasn’t given any respect frfr

-Isaac my Beloved sassy man you are missed every scene you’re not present

-ALL of the characters should have been flushed out more (but oh well, ig that’s what fanfic is for)

-Peter pisses me The Fuck off

-The storylines are so ???

-Some of the scenes are corny as HELL

-Some of the scenes are COLD AS FUCK bruh

-Stiles and Malia were actually really great together imo

-Malia is so fuckin funny on god

-Dylan O’Brien is. THE actor fr

-I really like Scott and Lydia’s friendship and would’ve liked it to be explored more 💕 (platonically)

-Stiles needed the time away from Lydia to love her in a way that wasn’t toxic or obsessive (and yet still has some concerning tendencies)

-EVERY. SINGLE. FEMALE. CHARACTER. Deserved so much more development and time without a male counterpart. Period.

-Especially Kira, Braeden, and Lydia

-PUT SOME RESPECT ON KIRA and please 🧎🏻‍♀️ let overpowered characters BE OP and not two hits and down fr

-I need more Dread Doctors content in my life for Reasons™️ and I will not be elaborating unless asked

-Theo is a character that exists almost solely in The Grey and y’all ain’t ready to have a civil conversation about how well Cody played the nuances of him

-Hayden is fine, Hayden and Liam is ? such a high school relationship I can’t complain but I don’t love

-the beast was 🤣 like cmon guys

-Ducalien👌🏼 (but not the cgi)

-Theo and Liam are a Fantastic duo, romantic or not (but they should’ve been canon ngl)

-We deserved more Mason content TBH

-Also, Corey? I better not see any hate for that little shithead ya hear? He’s my annoying little brother and I’ll protect him and Morey til I die.

I've been working on rewriting the entirety of teen wolf for a while now (like, off and on for the past year and a half?) and it's a "everybody lives nobody dies" rewrite, but ohhh my goddd, the amount of characters I have to keep track of is insane.

I just love them all so much!! All the later characters are great, I have to keep all of them, even if it means I'm following around 14+ mostly main characters.

Keeping Kira, Malia, Liam, Mason, Corey, Hayden, and Theo, is mandatory! They're staying and I love them.

But when you also have Erica, Boyd, Isaac, Jackson, Lydia, Stiles, Derek, Scott, and Allison, it gets a little complicated.

And on top of that, I also added an OC (Celena, she dates Parrish) so it's like. I'm so fucking cooked, I'm too ambitious, I am a fool for trying to rewrite 6 whole seasons while keeping everyone around, and also fixing the wack plotlines and inconsistencies, what the hell is wrong with me?

Honestly can’t even imagine being in Stiles’ shoes, waking up in the aftermath of Allison’s death. The show doesn’t even explain how he got from the internment camp to Kira’s house. How conscious was he? Did Lydia have to tell him that Allison was dead? Did SCOTT? Was he not even conscious enough to tell before Chris called in the police and started talking to the other pack members? No matter who told him, it’s evident that he blames himself primarily from his very first scene in 3x24. This seventeen year old who was JUST released from possession through the strength of his own will and his friends’ love, and he’s immediately thrown into an awful situation where the love of his life has been kidnapped, they have no way to find her, no way to kill the Nogitsune even if they do, and Stiles himself is rapidly declining in health.

All of this to say, I’m so glad teen wolf isn’t real because I can’t even imagine waking up after an already traumatic few weeks and finding out that one of my best friends literally DIED. I could never…

JO AND MAL AES IN TV AND FILM: 86/? Teen Wolf | Motel California (3x06)

As I start to gradually slide back into full Teen Wolf brainrot, here’s a list of how I think Teen Wolf characters would behave when overtired (because I am nothing if not good at projecting)

Isaac and Allison both get super grouchy in different ways. Isaac gets some season 2 douchebag back in him. Like his anger starts to get a little unchecked, he loses some of his coping mechanisms and he starts talking about how “he’s not so good at writing” and maybe he’ll just kill someone and everyone else is like “okay or maybe just go to bed, get a full 8 hours and try again tomorrow”.

Allison gets some season 2 anger back too but, whether she knew it or not, she was raised to be a solider and was absolutely taught to ignore her emotions. So her anger is all internalized and it’s not until Lydia or Scott notice like “hey you’re glaring at the paper pretty hard there” or she says something particularly cruel about herself that people get clued in.

Mason has a lot of inside thoughts that, when he’s well-rested, are filtered cause he 1. recognizes that they are unkind and 2. doesn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings. When he’s tired, depending on the level of exhaustion and who he is talking to, one of those two reasons to filter goes away. I love Mason, he’s a total sweetheart but kindness is a choice that takes EFFORT there’s no way it doesn’t slip a little when he’s off his game.

Liam, Malia and Kira are all spontaneous sleepers (to ME). I feel like these three narratively struggle the most with control. So it would make sense to me that they would be going going going and at some point their bodies just go “okay we are done” and suddenly they are asleep. Malia is the most normal about it, cause of the three, she feels the most in tune with her body’s needs. So she’ll feel it coming on and be like “okay I need to lay down” and will like. Put her head on her arms or something. Kira starts slurring her words or will stumble a bit more and someone is like “oh Kira is going down” and will help her out. Liam just cold drops in the middle of whatever he is doing, totally passes out with no warning.

Stiles, Lydia and Scott are different based on the season levels of trauma they’ve experienced (oooo angst)

Lydia has so carefully crafted herself in the beginning, I feel like, for the first two seasons, it HAS to be that that facade starts to crack. She’ll correct Jackson’s grammar. She’ll rattle off an equation too quickly. She’ll correct a teacher. After she’s come into herself more, and the facade crumbles like a stale cookie, I feel like it would be the opposite. She starts making crazy mistakes that even she’s like ‘okay what the fuck I just wrote 2+4=28’

Season 1 Stiles would absolutely just start falling asleep in random places. Total spontaneous sleeper BUT! Post-possession, anxiety brain is like ‘nope that can’t happen again’ so over tired-ness leads to shakes and increased adrenaline. Which leads to more over tiredness and more shakes and more adrenaline and…

Season 1 Scott gets confused when he’s over tired. Just has a really hard time sorting his schedule and remembering. One of my Scott headcanons is that he is one of those guys that needs to be like very organized. Like he’s smart but if all his ducks aren’t in a row, he scrambles. We see that he struggles most when he (justifiably due to… events - like getting bit by a werewolf!) can’t compartmentalize. And I think, pre- and early werewolfism, being exhausted and over-worked would be one of the biggest wrecking balls to his row of ducks. As the show goes on, I feel like Scott would start to shut down when overtired though. Like frequently zones out, not always responsive and when he is almost entirely nonverbal responses

On the subject of Allison Argent. They tried to make her the "nice girl" in contrast to Lydia being the "mean girl" by never holding her accountable for her actions. Like when Lydia kissed Scott she was held accountable for it. In a silly teen way of Allison choosing her date to the dance. But completely ignoring that was Lydias way (not a defense) of getting back at Allison and Jackson for flirting in front of her during the Night School episode. Then Jackson breaks up with Lydia and continues to flirt with Allison who does nothing to discourage him. And that only escalates to Isaac confronting her about stabbing him and her laughing it off and correcting him about what she stabbed him with??? "Gerard was not my fault" only indicates to me that her only regret was that Gerard wasn't looking for revenge.

Besides the posts about Allison that I've already made and the addition of this comment (which I agree with 100%) I don't know what else to say other than the fact that Allison Argent is not a good person but is treated as such by the show and the fandom as if everyone has memory loss and it drives me crazy

Thinking about Teen Wolf season 2 again

Everything with the Argents (Allisons manipulation/corruption and Chris getting a redemption arc) would have been more believable if Gerard hadn't announced he had no morals in his first episode. Also stop lying to me about there being a matriarchy. He makes his entrance at the funeral and the explicitly announces the end of his moral code in favor of vengeance. All for Kate? A character the audience does not have sympathy for?

They could have brought more hunters to town because of the Kanima. But instead it is to avenge a woman whose killer is dead? Not to mention she had already abandoned the code?

And then the show tries to get me to care about Chris Argent. As if he didn't go along with whatever his dad said while telling his daughter that their family was a matriarchy.

The Argents are so cartoonishly evil that it makes Allison look dumb for being manipulated. Its almost character assassination.

"You said we were just going to catch him" -> she exposed werewolves to you by torturing one. Asking you to kill your boyfriend is a lot but did you think he was going to a kennel?

And the she trusts her grandfather who she just met for the first time in 14 years. And he has done nothing to show his morals to her.

They crossed the line from young and naive to just dumb. Why in the world were the Argents written like that?
