Lessons in the Shadow - Tachihara x reader
Tachihara trains a new member of the port mafia, and the romantic tension is palpable
Requests are OPEN!
masterlist
The underground training room of the Port Mafia was dimly lit, the only light coming from a few high windows that let in the faint, late afternoon sun. You stood in the middle of the room, feeling the weight of anticipation in the air. Michizō Tachihara, one of the Mafia's skilled and determined enforcers, leaned casually against the wall, his intense eyes fixed on you with an assessing gaze.
"You ready?" he asked, his voice a blend of challenge and encouragement.
You nodded, your heart pounding in your chest. Tachihara pushed himself off the wall and walked towards you, his movements precise and controlled. He stopped a few feet away, his eyes locking onto yours.
"First rule of combat," he began, "always be aware of your surroundings."
He moved so quickly that you barely had time to react. One moment he was standing in front of you, and the next, he was behind you, his arm around your neck in a loose but firm hold. You struggled for a moment, instinctively reaching up to grab his arm.
"Relax," he murmured in your ear, his voice carrying an edge of command. "Focus on your breathing."
You took a deep breath, trying to calm your racing heart. Tachihara released you and stepped back, his eyes gleaming with approval.
"Good. Now, let's work on your stance."
He positioned you with your feet shoulder-width apart, knees slightly bent. His hands on your shoulders were warm, grounding you. You could feel his breath against your neck as he leaned in to adjust your posture, the closeness making your heart skip a beat.
"Remember, a solid stance is the foundation of everything."
He moved in front of you again, his expression serious but his gaze softening as it lingered on your face. "Now, throw a punch."
You hesitated for a moment before swinging your fist towards him. He caught it easily, his grip firm but not painful.
"Too slow," he said, his voice a low murmur. "Try again."
You tried again, faster this time. He deflected your punch with a swift movement of his hand, a small smile playing on his lips.
"Better. But you need to put more power behind it."
For the next hour, Tachihara guided you through various techniques, his instructions sharp and precise. He demonstrated each move with effortless grace, his eyes never leaving you. You could feel his intensity, his focus on every detail of your performance.
At one point, he grabbed your wrist and twisted it, forcing you to the ground. You gasped, the pain sharp but fleeting.
"Pain is a part of training," he said softly, his grip unyielding. "You need to learn to endure it."
He released you and helped you to your feet, his touch surprisingly gentle and lingering a moment longer than necessary.
"Again."
You nodded, determined to prove yourself. You attacked with renewed vigor, each movement sharper, more precise. Tachihara matched you blow for blow, his eyes never leaving yours. The way he watched you, intense and unwavering, sent a shiver down your spine.
"Good," he said, his voice a low rumble. "You're improving."
As the session drew to a close, you were drenched in sweat, your muscles aching. Tachihara handed you a towel, his expression softer now. His fingers brushed yours as you took it, the touch sending a jolt of electricity through you.
"You're doing well," he said quietly. "But remember, this is just the beginning. There's still much to learn."
You nodded, wiping the sweat from your forehead. Despite the exhaustion, you felt a sense of accomplishment. Tachihara's approval meant more to you than you cared to admit.
"Thank you," you said, your voice steady but with a hint of warmth.
He smiled, a rare, genuine smile that made your heart skip a beat. "Don't thank me yet. The real work begins tomorrow."
The following day, you arrived at the training room with renewed determination. Tachihara was already there, waiting for you. As you stepped into the room, he gave you a nod, his eyes meeting yours with a glimmer of something you couldn't quite place.
"Let's see how much you remember from yesterday," he said, his voice carrying a note of expectation.
The training session began much like the previous one, with Tachihara guiding you through various techniques. However, there was a noticeable change in the air—a sense of familiarity, of understanding. Each touch, each correction felt more personal, more intimate.
As the session progressed, Tachihara moved closer, his proximity sending waves of heat through your body. During a particularly intense drill, you found yourself pinned against the wall, Tachihara's body pressed against yours. His breath was warm on your face, his eyes dark and unreadable.
"You're getting better," he murmured, his voice low and husky. "But you need to be faster."
Your heart raced, not just from the exertion, but from the closeness of him. You nodded, barely able to find your voice. "I'll try."
He smiled, his gaze dropping to your lips for a fleeting moment before returning to your eyes. "Good."
As he stepped back, you felt a pang of disappointment, but it was quickly replaced by a surge of determination. You wanted to impress him, to earn his praise. You attacked with renewed vigor, each move sharper, more precise.
By the end of the session, you were once again drenched in sweat, your muscles aching. Tachihara handed you a towel, his fingers lingering on yours. The touch sent a familiar jolt of electricity through you, but this time, it was accompanied by a sense of connection, of understanding.
"You're doing really well," he said, his voice soft. "I'm impressed."
"Thank you," you replied, your heart swelling with pride.
He stepped closer, his eyes locking onto yours. "I mean it. You've got potential."
Your breath hitched as he reached up, brushing a stray lock of hair from your face. His touch was gentle, his fingers warm against your skin. For a moment, you were lost in his gaze, the intensity of his blue eyes drawing you in.
"Tachihara, I..."
Before you could finish, he leaned in, his lips capturing yours in a soft, tentative kiss. Your eyes fluttered shut as you melted into the kiss, your hands finding their way to his chest. The kiss deepened, a surge of warmth flooding through you.
When he finally pulled back, his forehead rested against yours, his breath mingling with yours. "I'm sorry," he murmured. "I couldn't help it."
You shook your head, a smile tugging at your lips. "Don't be. I couldn't either."
He chuckled softly, his arms wrapping around you in a gentle embrace. "I guess training won't be the only thing we'll be working on from now on."
You laughed, the sound mingling with his as you held each other. The future was uncertain, but in that moment, you felt a sense of clarity, of purpose. Under Tachihara's guidance, you would become stronger, more capable. And together, you would uncover the mysteries of both the Port Mafia and each other.

Uuuuuuh, an idea has just arrive on my mind🤭 you know that boys usually tease girls they like right? I’m really curious how Tachihara and tecchou would do it… (I’m really curious for tecchou😭)
Teasing their crush
♡ pairing: Tecchou Suehiro, Tachihara Michizou, Dazai Osamu, Fyodor Dostoyevsky x fem!Reader
♡ synopsis: How do these boys tease the girl that they like (that's you!)?
♡ cw: Swearing, Jouno suffers a lot, Fyodor is toxic as always, mention of suicide, I somehow manage to bring Astarion up here?? (sorry)
note: i know i know. it's been a while, and i apologise. i just have been so so busy. right now i'm in an exhausted trance writing this and i'm certain i'll wake up tomorrow with no recollection of writing it at all. also threw in dazai and fyodor for the sillies i hope you don't miiind~ as always apologies for errors and i hope you enjoy x
Tecchou:
I cannot see him teasing you.
I'm sorry anon but I just can't see him teasing a girl he likes. He would either be generally nice to her, super awkward but still okay, or just come off as cold and aloof. He wouldn't go out of his way to tease a girl or exchange playful banter with her
If he ever tried to tease he would probably just straight up be mean and insult you or something. And then he wouldn't understand why it didn't work
(Jouno is smacking his head against the wall)
Don't worry. If he's gonna cope with his feelings for you he's gonna do it in a way that benefits you i.e. he's just going to be super obvious about it and not even try to hide it
(update: Jouno is still smacking his head against the wall. someone help him)
Like he'll just openly buy you food and presents and tell you he likes you and like hold your hand and shit?? Tecchou is no-nonsense. He wants to date you, he'll let you know.
And it's not like Tecchou's trying any 'techniques' or anything like that. There is not a THOUGHT behind those beautiful eyes; he's just following his heart <3
Tecchou might be a bit dense when it comes to such socially complicated things as courting, but he's a genuine person and wants to make you feel appreciated, and let you know he loves you. He just does it in the only ways he knows how <3
Tachihara:
The opposite of Tecchou
He's such a teaser. He likes to make jokes with and poke fun at his love interests, but sometimes might go a bit too far with it (If he does he genuinely feels super bad and apologises dw T-T)
Like he's one of those kinds of guys who you would get so caught up in the flirty banter with that you just talk for hours
If you're texting you guys are both kicking your legs and squealing in between texts lowkey, like you're secretly such lovesick dorks but you play it so cool
Some kaguya sama love is war type shit you guys have going on
And god forbid you do this in front of other people. They're probably SO uncomfortable. Like oh my god get a room already (this dot point was ghostwritten by Jouno)
As you two get more and more into it, he becomes less tease-flirty and more sweet-flirty. He genuinely compliments you instead of exchanging little jabs and backhanded teases, and it's so CUTE
He also, for some reason, gets more shy instead of less shy. He blushes, he messes with his hair- AUGH he's so cute
In all honesty no matter what way, shape or form Tachihara flirts with you, even if he's awkward and fumbles each time, he's still such a charmer that you can't help but love him anyway. some messy hair and a sweet boyish grin goes a LONG way!
Dazai:
This is what I like to call Egotistical Flirting
He will tease you by telling you how much you love him, how much other women love him, how wonderful of a guy he is and how great of a deal he's constantly offering you. Yes, the 'deal' in question is dinner and a movie double suicide
And of course you roll your eyes and chuckle, and while he pretends that he's all offended that you aren't openly falling for it, he LOVES that. He loves your affectionate sarcasm and he could milk it out of you for days if he had the time
And he doesn't even wait to even learn your name before he immediately goes full on womaniser. He would just approach you like 'Heyyy~' and it's all downhill from there.
Dazai is a man on a MISSION is what I'm saying
He will also tease you by embarrassing you. He just says the most oUT OF POCKET stuff out of nowhere in public?? He absolutely delights in seeing you get all embarrassed and having you swat at him and scold him
(He's a bit of a masochist don't question it)
Naturally, this is generally a facade to hide the fact that he is hopelessly infatuated with you, and kinda scared of commitment. He hopes you'll accept him as he is but just in case... it's easier to put up a nonchalant front.
Don't worry Dazai. you've got nothing to worry about. :)
Fyodor:
Mind games. Mind games. MIND GAMES
And not the good kind!
He will tease you with this neat little trick he uses called psychological warfare. In his experience it's 100% effective
Fyodor is a toxic little shit. He doesn't often really 'tease' so much as 'neg'. He doesn't quite care too much about your esteem as long as he's able to make you like him back.
You guys know this thing called Ascended Astarion? yeah this is basically just that but ✨ Russian ✨
All this being said he actually does feel affection and love towards you, and he DOES care. He just doesn't want you to reject him, so he'll use any trick necessary to prevent that (regardless of general ethics for the most part)
Fyodor is an all rounder. He'll tease, show genuine affection, neg, flirt, stalk, lovebomb...the whole shebang (I'm sure he asked Nikolai for tips, and I'm even more sure Nikolai had MANY)
Fyodor is just so emotionally out of touch when it comes to other people that he genuinely has no idea how to just...flirt, or even really be casual, like a normal person. It would be sad if he wasn't such a motherfucker
Honestly all of you 'I could fix him' girlies would fall hook line and sinker for this (and I'm allowed to say that because I am one of you)
In the end...man, just date Tachihara

Soft Touches 'Nd Stuff ♡˖
Warnings; Suggestive, cursing in a/n, I still only write specifically for BSD, my friends suggested characters from other fandoms, so credit to them; @ilovechuuy4 and @yaeeko and others not on tumblr
Description; Sleepy morning affection ;3
Imagine laying in your bed with the sunrise visible through your window, dying the sky a pretty wash of pink, oranges and yellows all blended together. Your boyfriends arms are wrapped around your waist with his head burrowed in the crook of your neck and his chest rising and falling against your back. You mindlessly kept your eyes fixated on the rising sun while you waited for him to wake up, taking deep and steady breaths and basking in the peace and silence. Five minutes passed before you could feel his hand rub from your waist to your thigh and his breath on your neck, making you nearly shiver. "Mm.. goodmorning." He whispered, his voice scratchy from sleep. He momentarily rolled onto his back to stretch, kicking you while he stretched his legs and took on a starfish position. Once he felt physically refreshed, he curled right back up to you and kissed your cheek. "Goodmorning." You reply, reaching back to entangle your hand in his hair. "I had the funniest dream about you, last night.." he whispers with an audible grin, and his hands slide down your tummy to your abdomen. You let out a sigh, feeling his ticklish fingers against your skin. "Yeah? Was it really funny?" You ask, a little skeptical. He laughs under his breath and shakes his head. "Maybe not funny, but definitely fun." He leans forward to kiss along the back of your neck, his fingers hooking around the waist band of your pajama bottoms. "Can I show you what we did?" His voice sent more shivers down your spine, squirming in place and nodding. "Mhm.." you let his hands into your pants, feeling them start to touch you where others never had, and never would so long as he gets a say. His excitement was evident as you grinded your ass against his hips needily. "Perfect. When I'm done with you, you'll be glad I decided to tell you about it, sweetheart."

hazardous || TachiAku w/ poisoned Akutagawa
ao3! 2.6k - please refer to the tags in the link for content + warnings! sicktember 2024, day 16: toxin/poison
Tachihara feels his stomach drop when he watches the dart move at an incredible speed and hit Akutagawa right in the left side of his neck.
That wasn't supposed to happen.
There’s too much going on. Tachihara came here with Akutagawa and the rest of the Black Lizard to apprehend a woman who has been doing shady things with the Port Mafia’s money and assets - shady for the Port Mafia, even - and Tachihara took the opportunity to let the Hunting Dogs know, since this woman was a target of theirs as well. A target they needed information from.
But the poison dart was supposed to hit her. Not Akutagawa.
Akutagawa leaves no time for reaction. He pulls the dart out and slices it at least eight ways with his ability, staring its shards down before his eyes scan the area, wondering where on earth it came from. Tachihara knows. He positioned them. But Akutagawa can’t know that.
Tachihara has lost sight of their original target, now, as she and her subordinates have disappeared from the open section of the warehouse, just a few remaining. Tachihara can only hope that their intended target was actually hit, and regardless of the position she ends up in, he can set up something for the Hunting Dogs to purchase her from the Port Mafia. She has valuable information.
But that poison was intended to kill her in case she spent too much time in port Mafia custody, to avoid them keeping her for ransom.
It could very well kill Akutagawa too.
Tachihara pulls his arm just for a second to lead him in another direction, some other room where they’re not in the line of fire, because the woman they’re after is no force to be messed with, either. There’s a reason it’s taking both groups this long to corner her.
“I need the antidote, Jouno. The dart hit the wrong target,” Tachihara breathes as quietly as he can into his earpiece before Akutagawa joins him in the hall.
“Two birds, one stone. The sniper will strike again.”
And the line is silent once again.
Tachihara feels like he can't breathe. Akutagawa is the worst person this could have hit.
He whips his head around to make sure Akutagawa has followed him. His eyes are wide and darting around wildly to make sure they aren’t being followed, and there’s a hand pressed up against the side of his neck, which seems to be bleeding quite a bit. Really, very bad, if it hit a vessel or something already. Tachihara finds a room on the side of the hall and opens the door, deeming it safe enough before ushering Akutagawa inside.
He locks the door behind them with his ability, without Akutagawa’s knowledge, of course. That way he knows they’re safe in here for right now.
“I'm fine. Stop looking at me like that,” Akutagawa hisses, still holding a hand over the dart’s mark on his neck, leaning against the back wall of the bedroom-sized supply closet they’ve hidden in. “Where are Higuchi and Gin? Were they hit?”
“I - I dunno, there was so much going on,” Tachihara says with a frustrated huff. He can’t tell Akutagawa, but he knows they’re safe, he purposefully misled Gin and Higuchi out of the main hall before the sniper made their shot. He knows for sure that Hirotsu was on the opposite end of the building.
“Contact our specialist in the event they are. Higuchi has no poison training experience, this will kill her,” Akutagawa insists, and Tachihara is painfully aware of this. It's why he lead her out of harm's way for this, but Akutagawa won’t make it long either. He’s gotten much weaker over the past several months for reasons he can’t quite figure out, but he;s sure has something to do with his cough. He’s not sure he has the physical disposition to even withstand an hour of this stuff in his bloodstream.
He can see Akutagawa physically trying to fight off the symptoms of the poison. It's evident in his paling skin and the sweat on his hairline. His eyes are fixed on something on the ground to distract himself, it seems like. Tachihara takes a second to text an SOS signal to the backup they had on standby so that they know they need medical attention at the extraction point no matter the outcome, because it seems Jouno no longer has any desire to keep Akutagawa alive for information.
Akutagawa’a body suddenly tenses up, eyes screwing shut before he slides down the wall, not able to fight off enough of it to hide the pain from Tachihara. He feels like his breath is caught in his throat. They use this poison on enemies all the time in the military and he’s never cared once about what it does to its victims, but seeing Akutagawa just in the first few minutes of it hurts him to watch.
Why does it even matter, really? Akutagawa isn’t any different from the enemies and criminals he faces daily with his work as a Hunting Dog. He’s killed hundreds of people. He’s been an information target of the Hunting Dogs for a long time, and Tachihara’s been positioned undercover so close to him to get that information, and he’s never suspected a thing, to his knowledge.
This would be a good opportunity to detain him, but that would mean blowing his cover early, and he can’t do that.
Or maybe that’s an excuse.
Akutagawa's face is paper white, worse than Tachihara’s ever seen it. He hears gunshots and commotion on the other side of the building. He can’t stay here. He needs to make sure their target is detained. Jouno can’t find out he’s hiding with a Port Mafia attack dog to make sure the poison doesn’t kill him before they can get out to the attraction point.
“I need a minute,” he says through labored breaths, eyes darting up to Tachihara, who’s still by the door, “go find the others.”
“I can't leave you here,” Tachihara tells him. He can’t move. He doesn’t know what to do. Really, this is a great opportunity. Fukuchi has wanted Akutagawa captured ever since they were made aware of his existence. Dead or alive, but recently he's left the former out of the conversation.
As far as the Port Mafia goes, Tachihara has no obligation to stay with him, either. He doesn't work for Akutagawa, he works for Hirotsu, under Mori. Their team has been told explicitly by Mori a number of times that they are not obligated to cover or rescue Akutagawa. According to him, he’s a loose cannon and should not be easily trusted. They only take Akutagawa's orders because he's on the same level as Hirotsu, and only because of their mutual respect.
But for some reason, none of this matters. This isn’t a situation where Tachihara can blame the outcome on any reckless actions by Akutagawa. Akutagawa is suffering. And Tachihara doesn't know why, but he can't leave him to die.
Akutagawa kneels over on the side, one arm propping him up and the other only briefly covering his mouth to cough - even that sounds a hundred times more painful than usual - but it’s not long before Akutagawa gags and chokes up a stream of bile.
Very, very bad. The poison has already saturated his bloodstream if it’s causing him to vomit so suddenly. Tachihara doesn’t know if it’s because of the location where he was hit, or maybe he got a high dose - or maybe he wasn’t physically well enough to attempt fighting it off in the first place.
Tachihara kneels down in front of him, not sure how he’ll be able to help at this point aside from catching him if he passes out, but Akutagawa makes it clear he doesn’t want him anywhere close. As soon as Tachihara’s knees hit the floor, shards of Akutagawa’s coat cover his face in some attempt to get him away, but Tachihara doesn’t react. He’s learned well that this is just an empty threat.
“If - if I'd ingested it, this would…at least be helpful…”
Akutagawa hardly manages to speak through how visibly nauseous he is, and the spot on his neck where the dart hit has almost blackened, like the tissue around the injection site is dying off. He almost chokes on the breath he takes in just before he gags involuntarily to bring up more bile, but after a few seconds, it’s just bright red blood.
He stares down at it - it’s not quite shock, more of a realization, before his whole body tenses up again from the horrific pain he’s in. Tachihara knows all about it, the poison makes it feel like your veins and vessels are all freezing but on fire at the same time, it’s not something anyone can shrug off or hide. Not even Akutagawa, someone he knows for a fact has a terrifying pain tolerance. He can barley breathe.
He’s seconds from passing out, Tachihara realizes, and he takes him by the shoulders before it happens, watching his eyes roll back and a mix of blood and spit drip from the corner of his mouth as he tries to steady him.
“Hey - stay with me, alright? Don't let yourself black out yet,” Tachihara tells him, because he’s not quite out yet. His eyes roll forward again and he’s conscious, for now, but he's not sure Akutagawa can understand him, or even recognizes that he's speaking. He tries to stand, tries to walk off past Tachihara like nothing’s wrong, but he just collapses into his arms.
This can't be happening. Akutagawa can't die because of a mistake. He'd never forgive himself, enemy or not, it doesn’t matter. He can’t walk out carrying Akutagawa’s corpse when everything was going so well.
Tachihara manages to lift him up, into his arms. He’s got some hope left in the fact that Akutagawa’s skin is burning, he’s not cold, but that still isn’t good. He’s got some control left, even half-conscious. He’s fighting to keep his eyes open, slow down his breathing, the little breaths he can get in - he knows exactly what to do if he’s been poisoned, but none of it will work in the end. Tachihara needs the antidote.
“Stay awake,” Tachihara tells him, his voice shaking as he approaches the door, “we’ve - we’ve gotta get you back to Gin, alright?”
A last-ditch effort to restore some determination. Tachihara knows how important his sister is to him, something he’s only pieced together recently.
But Akutagawa can’t hear him. His breathing is slowing down and he coughs a few times, so weak that Tachihara isn’t even sure they qualify. Tachihara opens the door with his ability and kicks it to swing it open, deciding if he should just pursue the sniper for the antidote or take Akutagawa to the extraction point and see if they can help him.
Except, they won’t be able to.
“Akutagawa,” Tachihara shouts, almost, but there’s no response from him, just shallow breathing from pale lips that can’t speak back to him. He watches a thin stream of blood drip from his nose.
Tachihara presses his earpiece against his shoulder to activate its signal back to the sniper.
“I need an antidote, dammit,” Tachihara bites, “if he dies, my whole operation is finished, and it’ll have been for fucking nothing.”
There’s silence. All Tachihara can hear his Akutagawa’s breathing. He didn’t realize he was holding his own breath.
“I’m leaving it outside the rear entrance. We’ve contained our target as planned.”
Tachihara takes in a mouthful of air and runs for the backside of the building.
…
Tachihara can’t sleep. It’s the middle of the night, and he’s sitting on a counter that he can’t possibly make comfortable, but he doesn’t intend to. He just needs to see this through. If he doesn’t, he wouldn’t be able to live with himself.
Gin is asleep. Her head is laying in her arms, crossed over Akutagawa’s hospital bed. She’s only been asleep for an hour or so, but he’s glad she finally fell asleep. Higuchi was here for a pretty long time too, but she apologized profusely for needing to head home, since her sister was waiting for her.
Akutagawa had no objections to this, of course. He talks to them like he’s some old man who wants teenagers out of his yard, but Tachihara knows it’s guilt. Akutagawa isn’t as good at hiding his emotions as he thinks he is.
“You don’t need to stay here.”
He says quietly. He can’t raise his voice much, his throat is probably raw from all of the vomiting and coughing up blood, which only continued during his recovery with their toxin specialty team. Tachihara can hear him, though. It’s dead quiet aside from the monitoring equipment’s irregular beeping.
“I know,” Tachihara says. They’ve had this conversation already. Tachihara’s last excuse was that he’s staying in case Gin needs anything - she’s his coworker, after all. “I have free will, y’know. If I wanted to leave, I would’ve.”
“I don’t understand why you feel the need to stay,” Akutagawa whispers.
“Just wanna make sure you don’t die,” Tachihara says. He thinks it’s guilt on his end too, plus a secret crippling fear that Akutagawa fully understood his conversation with the sniper and plans on killing him for his betrayal. He tries to keep those thoughts back.
“I’m fairly certain that’s our medical staff’s job. Have you changed career paths?” Akutagawa says.
“You’re hilarious,” Tachihara teases.
Akutagawa lays his head back into the pillows with a quiet sigh, presumably giving up on his attempt to get Tachihara out of his hospital room. His head lulls to the side, peering out of the tinted window where they can’t see much of the night sky but the moonlight cascading in.
“Do you remember any of that?” Tachihara asks.
Akutagwa is quiet for several moments, but he finally decides to answer. “Nothing after you closed us in the room.”
“Well, good, then,” Tachihara tells him. “Less crap to worry about.”
“You put it so eloquently,” Akutagawa sighs with a sarcastic huff. He coughs a few times, lifting a hand to cover his mouth. They look and sound painful, he can’t imagine his body has even remotely recovered from what that poison did to him yet, antidote or not.
Gin lifts her head at the sound, still half asleep but worried enough to wake up and check to make sure her brother is okay. Tachihara’s heart hurts, remembering her face when he carried Akutagawa back to the extraction point. Gin is very professional, she always has been, and she kept it up, even seeing Akutagawa in that much pain - but she was shaking so much. Tachihara saw it each time, and as soon as it was just them and the medical staff, Gin held him and cried. And she hasn’t left his side since then.
Akuatagwa waves his hand dismissively as the coughs die down, laying his other hand on her head to encourage her to go back to sleep. He had tried to convince her to go home, but she refused every time anyone even lightly suggested it. Tachihara knows just how stubborn she is, he didn’t bother trying himself.
Gin is tired enough to give in, lowering her head back down into her arms, a little closer to Akutagawa this time. Akutagawa’s hand doesn’t leave her head, quietly patting her hair for some time. Tachihara can’t quite place his expression. It’s strange to see him like this - completely defenseless, weak, weirdly soft-hearted.
His soft expression on Gin’s sleeping face makes him wonder what he’s thinking about. Tachihara knows very little about their shared past, but knowing how young they were when they joined the Port Mafia tells him enough.
“I really thought you were gonna die for a second there,” Tachihara puffs, thinking out loud, “didn’t think you were killable.”
“Don’t keep your hopes up,” Akutagawa says quietly to himself.
Tachihara wonders what he means by that.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Summer had passed by, memories of the season drifting afar. Which in turn, means the students of Yokohama high school were set to return on the first of September. Obviously, nobody was excited.
Atsushi Nakajima had spent his summer slaving away at Chick Fil A. The pay was terrible, but he wasn't in it for the money. Moreso, on the last day, Kunikida Doppo, his upperclassman, ranted to him about the importance of staying busy over the summer for colleges to see, and how good it would look on his transcript.
“Atsushi, you cannot fall into lazy patterns over the summer. You don't want to be unemployed like Dazai,” he said, sneering at the man who lazily laid in the courtyard during their lunch break.
“Kunikida, not everyone wants to spend their life working for someone, I have the rest of my life to want to kill myself from working a 9-5, so let me be a bum a bit until then, mkay?” Dazai said smugly without even bothering to look up
Before Kunikida could even respond to Dazai by yelling, Atsushi interrupted.
“Okay fine, I need extra cash anyways,” he said, thinking of all the Chazuke he could buy that summer.
Atsushi's first mistake was believing Kunikida when he said it was a good job. The amount of times he worked longer than minors were even allowed to, waking up at 6 AM on a saturday to get to work by 7, and standing under the scorching sun with a stupid smile plastered on his face made him want to just throw off his namepin and quit. But, he enjoyed the routine in a way. Despite the annoyances of rude customers and such, he enjoyed having a purpose and working towards something, in this case his $7/hour pay (money is money) and did not want to be rotting his summer away.
Unfortunately for him, when Dazai found out his schedule, he would never know peace again.
“Hey Atsushi,” Dazai once slurred.
It was almost 10 PM on a Friday, and Dazai appeared beside Chuuya Nakahara in his red camry, who seemed aggravated.
“Im high as fuck” Dazai said slowly, grinning.
Atsushi stood there, petrified, what was he supposed to do? He couldn't just yell at Dazai for bothering him at work, especially since he was under the influence, because his boss will definitely see and fire him for “not putting the customer first”, then call the cops on Dazais since he was a minor and reeking of weed.
“I'm sorry Atsushi,” Chuuya said, giving him a sympathetic look. “He was pissing me off and said he said he would shut up once he had Chick-Fil-A, never thought you worked here or I wouldn't have taken him here. Probably McDonalds or Cookout.”
“Are you..” Atusshi asked, confused if Chuuya was driving while stoned.
Chuuya smirked, “Fuck yeah, but my tolerance is better than this motherfucker,” he said, pointing to Dazai staring straight and laughing at nothing.
Atsushi stood meekly with the tablet, unsure how to handle this.
“Um okay, what do you want?” He sighed.
“I'll get the grilled sandwich and a diet lemonade, coach is making us cut since the season is about to start,” Chuuya said flatly as he rolled his eyes.
“Yo Dazai, what do you want? Don’t drain my wallet–the auto shop doesn't pay me as much as you think,” Chuuya said as he turned to Dazai, who Atsushi was now concerned for if he was greening out or not.
“Atsushi, what's the cheapest thing you have here?” Dazai said, suddenly focused.
“Probably a kids meal,” Atsushi said, as he added a 5 ct nugget with a toy.
“Okay, get me that. And then get me 20 more of those.” Dazai said, giggling like a little school girl.
“WHAT THE-” Chuuya angrily turned, screaming at the man.
Atsushi stood awkwardly, watching the scene of Chuuya strangling Dazai. They argued whether or not Dazai would get 20 kids' meals, then if Dazai would get to keep all 20 toys. Before they could kill each other, he butted in.
“You do realize we close in five? If you both want food, its a yes or no-”
“YES,” Dazai screamed as he leaned over Chuuyas seat to submit the order through Atushi’s tablet.
“THERES NO FUCKING WAY YOU DID THAT– DUMBASS BITCH YOU’RE PAYING FOR YOUR SHIT”
Atushsi rolled his eyes, submitting the order as he swiped Chuuyas card, going to warn his co workers or the 100 nuggets they would prepare in 5 minutes (he would be outcast for weeks because of this incident).
School was on the cusp of starting, leaving Atsushi dreading balancing work and his academics as well as lacrosse.
As he watched the mindless tiktoks Dazai sent him which rotted his attention span and brain capacity, he saw that Tanizaki had texted him through Snap.
heluvsnaomi: hey atsushi
beastbeneaththesheets: yea?
heluvsnaomi: you got your schedule yet? Mine is so bad bro
beastbeneaththesheets: damn i didnt even check
beastbeneaththesheets: shit mines bad, i have foods, math 2, biology but then journalism so W
heluvsnaomi: ok we have our last two together at least lets go
heluvsnaomi: is akutagawa in any of your classes?
Atsushi scoffed, remembering whose name that belonged to.
Akutagawa was the most miserable person he knew. He has stupid headphones on at all times; Atsushi once peeked over to see who was playing and Akutagawa glared at him, then showed up the next day with a privacy screen. That really pissed Atsushi off. It's not like he's asking him his deepest secret, he was just curious to what bands someone as moody as Akutgawa would like. He’s very antisocial and uncomfortable to talk to. Atsushi had tried to get to know him, and was rudely ignored by him. After that, Atsushi had a grudge towards him, to which Junichiro agreed was valid. When he brought up his name in a rant to Dazai as they did their daily Fortnite grind, Dazai laughed, saying he used to “bully the shit out of him” in middle school. Even though Akutagawa was rude, Atsushi couldn't help but feel bad. To which extent, Dazai admitted calling him emo and teasing him for his hobbies, which Atushsi disapproved of making someone feel ashamed for being passionate in their interests.
beastbeneaththesheets: fuck let me check
Atsushi logged onto canvas, praying he would never interact with Akutagawa again. But to his dismay, he wouldn't achieve this dream.
Foods 2: Akutagawa Ryunosuke
Math 2: Akutagawa Ryunosuke
Biology Honors: Akutagawa Ryunosuke
Of course he's in every one of my classes, the white haired boy thought to himself. He sighed, screenshotting and sending it to both Dazai and Tanizaki. This better be a filler year I swear. Unfortunately for Atsushi, he never did quite get what he wanted.
At 6:30 AM, Atsushi Nakajimas alarm went off. He got ready with his new clothes he had gotten for his back to school shopping, and prepared his bag with his charged chromebook. He waited at the bus stop, getting ready to close his eyes for a bit before he saw Tanizaki.
“Yo Atsushi!” the orange haired man waved to him. Atsushi smiled, taking a seat with him.
“Hey man, how’ve you been? Haven't seen you since that party Yosano threw for the fourth of July,” Atsushi said as he threw his bag on the floor.
“You know the usual,” he said with a shrug, as if it was a cue, his weird sister Naomi came to hug him from behind. They were very close, and Tanizaki pushed her off. Atsushi smiled awkwardly, nodding towards her.
I need off this bus, he thought to himself.
As the bus approached his school, Atsushi walked with Tanizaki, Naomi now chatting with their fellow classmate Haruno.
“I don't know what I'm gonna do, Akutagawa is in every single class except journalism, but usually journalism will only ever be us,” Atsushi sighed.
“That sucks, I'd actually fight my counselor,” Tanizaki laughed.
“Right ugh, I guess I’ll see you at lunch though right? Kunikida has lunch with us too, so that's good at least.” Atsushi asked.
“The courtyard right?” Tanizxaki asked as he approached his class.
Atusshi nodded, parting ways with him. He just had to thug out this semester, and he would be fine. It's not like he would be interacting with Akutagawa at every given moment of the day, right?
Atsushi walked in, recognizing everyone that he hadn't seen since last year. Being a student council officer (another role that was forced upon him) had its perks, he had to interact with everyone and learned a bit of each student. He had class, of course with Yosano and Ranpo. Both were the most unserious duo he knew. Ranpo often offended teachers with his backtalk, and would always go to the office but of course, since he had fostered a close relationship with Fukuzawa, he was able to talk him out of any trouble with the principal Natsume; he never got in any actual trouble. His fat ass was always eating in the back of classes, at least Atsushi assumed he was. Ranpo was super smart, having taken all AP classes the school provided, never interacting with Atsushi last year because of that, as well as for the former being a freshman while the latter being a junior. He had met him in journalism, which Dazai convinced him to join when he came to represent the class as a promoter, prompting the incoming freshman to join, successfully persuading Atsushi. The class was nothing like Dazai said it was, being more grueling and on a time crunch rather than the “filler block” Dazai promised (maybe for him it was, since all he did was sleep in the room that contained the computers to edit and archives of the newspaper spanning to the 70s). Despite that, he loved the class, meeting his closest friends, as well as gaining a new sense of confidence from being forced to interact with all types of students, making him sure of himself. Ranpo was the opinion editor, a filling role for him since he always had something to say. In fact, Atsushi's first day of journalism in which he pitched his ideas for the paper had Ranpo telling him “his idea was shit” without a stutter. Atsushi almost quit right there. He could contribute the least, yet always have the most popular page. That was Ranpo for you, being naturally talented in creating eye-catching visuals and attention-grabbing headlines. Then there was Yosano, his partner in crime. She was one of the most blunt people Atsushi knew, circling such minor mistakes such as expletives on a paper, and making Atsushi feel self conscious of his writing. Outside the class though, she was a raging party girl, in which her private spam “yosanoandranpolovealcohol” had fostered a series of (mainly) Yosano drunkenly singing or doing insane things that cannot be mentioned. She was never one to back down from someone picking on the underclassmen, having argued with their classmates for being rude to Atsushi when he was more shy. For that, Atsushi respected her.
“Hey Atsushi,” Yosano called out to him. “Haven't seen you since Fourth of July!”
Atushsi smiled, approaching their station.
“How do you even remember that? Me and Poe had to drag you upstairs before you barfed and embarrassed yourself,” Ranpo snickered, eating their materials to cook for the day.
Yosano glared at him. “Its called high toleranc-” this time Atsushi laughed.
“Sorry Yosano, I didn't take you to have a high alc tolerance,” Atsushi snorted.
“Just wait until I get your first draft, Atsushi,” she said, staring at him with a straight face.
Atsushi’s eyes widened, now walking towards his own station fearing for his safety.
He continued scoping the room, seeing randoms, as well as Tachihara and Motojiro Kaji, the latter his upperclassman Yosano swore to murder, in which she retold a story from freshman year of him saying they failed a lab because Yosano “was a stupid girl who couldn't follow instructions”. Needless to say, Kaji and Yosano were both sent to the office that day from broken beakers and spilled chemicals. Tachihara, on the other hand, was in his grade. He was always stoned, being the epitome of the word stoner. He was always in the stalls, his fryd bar masking any smell in the bathroom, but Atsushi didn't think it smelt any better than that. Everyone knew that if you wanted a smoke, all you had to do was slide up in his DMS and you could get high faster than Kaji exploded that lab. He was loud, often hanging around Chuuya, so it didn't take one too long to consider what Nakahara did in his free time. Despite that, he was rather chill, but Atsushi didn't really care much for him.
Then he spotted that messy black hair, with a case of a badly cut fringe. Ryunosuke Akutagawa. Atsushi sighed, glaring at him as he walked in. He can't forget the time he offered him a bracelet for student council and Akutagwa said no, purposely bumping into him to spill the entire basket of dozens of bracelets
Sitting at a random table by himself, Atushsi smirked, seeing that he had no friends. Serves him right for being so moody. As the teacher walked in, she saw that everyone was sitting in whatever seat. Sighing, she clapped her hands, grumbling how nobody paid attention to the name tags she had placed on each table. Looking around, he saw Tachihara nodding at Yosano, trading with her so she didn't have to sit next to Kaji since her assigned seat would have been there, fearing for an incident that would leave his friend in the office again, as well as just wanting to have a familiar face rather than listen to Ranpo be a know-it-all.
So whos sitting next to m-
Akutagawa Ryunosuke, 10th Grade
Atusushi groaned, seeing Akutagawa approach him, refusing to make eye contact. As the teacher began her introduction, she moved onto actually instructing them to cook.
Atsushi nudged Akutagawa. “So you going to listen, or am I gonna cook for both of us,” he said solemnly.
“I can figure it out myself, how hard is cooking anyways?”
Well apparently impossible.
Akutagawa managed to make something that crossed a biohazard and chemical waste, how? Atsushi couldn't tell you.
“Dude! You used all our materials! We’re so cooked we couldn't even redo it because class is over. I told you to let me help you, I actually listened to her instructions unlike you!” He practically yelled, garnering everyone's attention.
“Like I would trust any food you make. You wouldn't do any better than me anyways,” Akutagawa said, rolling his eyes.
“Aight bet, tomorrow I'm going to make the best food you've had–hell I make nuggets for Chick Fil A! I definitely know how to cook more than you. Pissing me off, got an F on the first day,” Atushsi said angrily, purposely bumping into his headphones to knock him off the table.
Before Akutagawa could yell at him, he leaves class, power walking to English.
The rest of the day was pretty uneventful. He had English with Akutagawa Gin that is. She was much more tolerable than her brother, being concerned with Higuchi on whatever superficial thing was relevant to them, gossiping while typing furiously on their phones. He had some acquaintances that he had in classes before sitting with them. Biology with Tanizaki was boring. They received an “All About Me” packet, filling it out as they discussed meaningless topics to pass time. Then came journalism.
Atsushi walked in to see Yosano sitting with Ranpo, both drinking an energy drink. Just by their energy, Atsushi could tell they had senioritis and were checked out. Walking in with Atsushi was Edgar Allen Poe. He was a strange one, hair covering his eyes. If you told anyone he was the editor in chief last year they would be shocked. He had a vision for the paper that always executed well, and was one of the best writers Atsushi knew, but his confidence didn't match his skill set. He seemed as if he was worried what everyone thought of him at all times, staying quiet and leaving 0 presence in a room. Despite Atsushi being his junior by two years, he always seemed anxious when Atsushi read his work. Which Atsushi didn't understand, he could make an article of redoing the parking lot the best written on the page. He sat with Ranpo and Yosano, both loudly greeting him and showing him some TikTok they were giggling over.
In the corner sitting on a hightop table was Kunikida, furiously typing away at a schedule to release each article. “Boy, hurry. We're behind schedule already. If we want to stay on track, brainstorming needs to be done by tomorrow.”
Dazai, sitting on the couches centered in the room, snorted. “Kunikida, when have we ever printed on time?”
Atsushi sat next to the tall brunette, relaxing into the seat. Atsushi always loved how this class mimicked a family, everyone being comfortable enough to be themselves. The classroom was set up differently than the standard sterile class, having the big lights off with fairy lights, a candle burning, and couches alongside posters. The teacher, Fukuzawa, had invested towards his students feeling like this could be their safe space. He obviously succeeded, having a dozen or so students in this class that refused to drop the class even if it messed up their schedule.
Fukuzawa welcomed the class back, which usually never changed its lineup since it was just returners. “I'm glad to have you all back, I’m sure we can guarantee that we will outdo the yearbook in popularity again,” he announced.
Everyone cheered, determined to outdo their rivals. Mori Ougai had advised the class, taking it up after working at the school long enough as the nurse. Atsushi had a personal vendetta against them, trying to force an interview on him for Fitzgerald’s finance class he took last year, finding out the former had bribed the yearbook with donations if they got a whole spread towards students hyping the class to encourage more to join. And who was forcing said interview on him? Akutagawa, of course.
“I'm sure I can expect great things from you all,” Fukuzawa continued. “But for today, we will just get to the standard ‘welcome back’ nonsense despite the fact we all know each other,” he said smiling lightly. “For the sake of an easy first day—but don't expect to slack again after today,” he said, eyeing Dazai, making Atsushi snicker.
For the rest of class, Atsushi just caught up with his friends. Atsushi discussed his work schedule with Kunikida, and picked up on conversations of Ranpo and Poe discussing a new mystery novel, while Yosano harassed Tanizaki with videos of him at the party she hosted. Dazai did his usual: napping in the backroom, before Kunikida could drag him out for making a bed out of previous papers they had worked on.
Atsushi thought to himself that he wouldn't trade this class for the world, smiling as he imagined how this school year could go. Unfortunately for him, this is as peaceful as it will get.

no longer human, less than a man [Chapter 2]
Chapter 1
A03
Summary : The gods had abandoned humanity long before Osamu Dazai was born, but his existence quickly grew to become a beacon of hope. Where he would walk, whispers would follow and murmurs of a path back to the gods quickly grew to battle cries. When he and his two companions went missing on one of their journeys to godhood, the cries quieted down to murmurs and whispers until eventually, both they and the gods were nothing more than myths.
Nobody had accounted for Dazai not only becoming successful in finding the lost shrine, but achieving the godhood that came with it.
For 80 years, he was left alone in his divinity, until a drunk college student stumbled upon the shrine of chaos.
OR Chuuya and Dazai are gods reborn
“Get in the closet,” Chuuya demanded, shoving desperately at Dazai’s chest as the clear sound of his apartment door opening rang through the silence. Dazai merely stared down at him with a bemused expression, flickers of amusement passing over his expression. "A little late for that, I'm afraid."
“His lap, Chuuya?” Tachihara's exasperated voice rang from the entrance of the apartment and Chuuya internally cursed. “Shirase?”
He was so fucked. “Shut up,” he hissed, glancing between the bandaged freak and his bedroom’s door.. “I’m not dealing with whatever the fuck–” he motioned at Dazai’s general existence, ignoring the offended huff that followed – “this is and my friends, so get–” “I just said I’m a god, it's distasteful to try and pus--"
“You also said I was one, so get in the fucki--"
“Your room is floating,” Dazai sang in response, snagging a photo frame from its spot in mid air and inspecting it. “None of them see all that scary,” he mused, glancing back at Chuuya. “Surely, they can wait for the whole divinity talk."
“Please shut the fuck up,” Chuuya snapped, staring at the room in disbelief. He squeezed his eyes shut, trying to concentrate on bringing the objects down, but the pounding in his head and chest overran him. “Why aren’t they going down? I thought down and they’re still up,” he demanded, eyes wild as he could hear the sounds of loud, over exaggerated, stomps approaching his door.
Nothing about this scenario made sense, not Dazai, not his newfound ability to defy fucking gravity, and much less this divinity shit Dazai has been spewing. The last thing he needed was for his friends to stumble into the scene, freshly drunk on shots of ‘chuuya talked to his asshole ex’ rage. “You’re panicking,” Dazai shrugged, letting go of the frame and letting it crash to the ground. “Probably wondering if your friends will cut you up or sell you out to a lab, if I had to guess.” A slow smirk dragged over his lips as a harsh knock rang against the door. “My money’s on the lab.” “Chuuya Nakahara you have ten seconds to get decent and then explain where the fuck you were last night,” Tachiara’s voice somehow held more anger than his fists pounding against the door.
“I brought coffee,” Gin added, voice soft. “We figured you’d need it.”
“I have Advil,” was Poe’s quiet follow up. “For the hangover and Tachihara,” “Hey!”
“I brought food!” Kenji’s voice was cheerful, although even his tone was twinged with a layer of discontent, clearly not any more happy with the belief of Chuuya going back to Shirase than any of them. Which, while fair, was the least of Chuuya’s actual fucking problems. “And I brought rage and disappointment, open the damn door.” Problem #1 being the fact that half of the objects in the room were levitating and it was somehow his fault and his entire fucking friend group was waiting outside the door.
“I could help,” Dazai offered in a low murmur, the smirk that curled around his lips seeming to freeze into a cruel and wicked thing as he surveyed the floating objects. “For a price, of course.”
Problem #2 was the asshole currently lounging on his bed, as if Chuuya's sanity and future wasn't hanging on a quickly splitting thread. “Fucking–” He could hear Tachihara reaching the end of his countdown and drew a hand down his face. “Fucking, fine, whatever, please,” Faster than he could blink, Dazai had wrapped his arms loosely around his waist, tucking Chuuya’s head under his chin. Chuuya yelped, starting to move to get away, but freezing when he noticed all the previously floating objects now laying around them in a heap. “Time’s up–who the fuck are you?” Tachihara demanded as he slammed the door open. “Why is he wearing bandages?” He asked, mouth falling agape as his eyes flitted from Chuuya, up to Dazai, down to the scattered objects around them, then back up to Chuuya. “What the–”
“Busy night, huh?” Gin teased, stepping around Tachihara, clearly attempting to get a better sight of Dazai. A strange expression passed over her face as she studied the two of them, eyes lingering on Dazai for a moment too long. Chuuya quickly took advantage of the brief lapse in chaos as he snatched the coffee from Gin, taking a long, much needed, sip of the caffeinated drink. “It wasn’t–” He began to explain but his last attempt to cling onto dignity was quickly sabotaged by the demon behind him. “Yup!” Dazai cut him off, voice simperingly sweet. “Was a long and hard one too,”
“Nothing happened,” He snapped, glowering at his friends as if daring them to disagree.
Unfortunately, the threat of his anger truly held no weight on them anymore.
“Is that why his arms are still around your waist?” Poe asked, voice faux innocence as he handed Chuuya the advil. “I do agree that this was a surprising turn of events, but far from the worst.”
“Yes, I’m aware of where his arms are” Chuuya huffed, downing the two pills with another long sip of the coffee. “And nothing happened last night, it’s just–” His voice trailed off, staring at the matching blank expressions his friends wore. “--cold,” He quickly stepped out of Dazai’s grip, but didn’t move further when Dazai moved to keep their shoulders brushing against each other.
“Cold?” Tachihara repeated, a different tone of disappointment coloring his voice. “C’mon, dude, I know you can lie better than that.”
“Your apartment’s pretty warm, actually,” Kenji piped in, tilting his head to the side with a knowing glint in his eyes. “And you’re almost never seen without three layers, so–” “What’s your name?” Gin demanded, cutting into the conversation with the same strange look on her face. “I swear I’ve seen you before,” she murmured, leaning against the doorframe as she studied him. “My brother has drawings that look just like you.”
“My name’s Dazai,” The smirk returned and Chuuya could feel his own eye roll that followed.
“There’s no way–” Poe’s shocked murmur was the first sound to break the stunned silence that soon descended into a chaos of questions.
“You fucked Akutagawa and Atsushi’s concussion hallucination–” Tachihara’s squawk quickly followed, his eyes practically bulging out of his head. “You’re real?” Kenji’s own eyes were wide, streaks of guilt running through them. The poor kid was most likely already planning an elaborate way to apologize to the two narnia dwellers.
“This is hell,” Chuuya groaned, dropping his face into his hands. “I’ve died and gone to hell, there’s no other explanation.” There was no other way that the ‘deity’ that Atsushi and Akutagawa ‘found’ in high school was not only real, but also in his room and claiming that Chuuya was the same as him. “Who the hell are you?” Gin’s voice was as delicate as the sharp edge of a knife, her eyes studying Dazai carefully. “You fucking around with my brother and Chuuya?” “Sleeping with worshippers is in bad taste,” Dazai’s nose crinkled as if in disgust at the motion and Chuuya could see Tachihara move to restrain Gin out of the corner of his eye. “So, no, I’m not ‘fucking around’ as you said with the wild dog. Or, the chibi, for that matter–” “You little–” “I’m not the little one–”
“Is your first name Osamu?” Poe interrupted them, staring at Dazai quizzically. Chuuya could feel the tension in Dazai’s arm as he stiffened up beside him, an odd sort of chill filling the air. “And if it was?” Dazai’s voice was calm, the kind of calm that would lull the ocean into serenity before a tsunami would wipe a city off the map, the kind of calm that only exists in the eye of a hurricane that promises devastation on anyone who dares to leave its grip.
“It’d explain a lot,” Poe answered simply, keeping his gaze leveled on Dazai. “You believed the Gods were real and that you could bring them back from wherever they ran to from humanity,” “Is that so?” Dazai sounded amused, inspecting his nails carelessly. “What a foolish notion.” “That’s what it’s told as,” Poe continued, crossing his arms. “You and your crew died.” “Oda and Ango did,” Dazai corrected, eyes flashing when the word crew left his lips. “I thought most of the knowledge on me went missing.” The statement was said casually, but there was an underlying hint of a threat lingering in his words.
“I was curious,” Poe shrugged and Chuuya watched as Tachihra, Gin, and Kenji subtly moved as if to shield him. “So I went searching.” “Oh, I like him,” A new voice cut in and Chuuya jumped, whirling around to face the green-eyed stranger that was floating cross-legged behind him. “He’s smart, please tell me he’s the new godling.” The man’s voice was impish, playfulness laced in every word as he ran his fingers through dark hair. “What the fuck is fucking going on right now?” Chuuya demanded, looking between the stranger and Dazai, who promptly ignored him. “Sorry to disappoint, Ranpo, but the shrimp with the language barrier is the godling,” Dazai explained, waving at Chuuya dismissively. “Chuuya is what?” Tachihara demanded, voice once again mimicking that of a dying turkey. “Oh my god, did you leave one of Kaji’s experiments out again? Are we all in a hallucination together?” “I don’t think that’s possible,” Kenji pointed out, brows furrowed in confusion. “And Ryuu’s god being real somehow is more possible to you?” Gin argued, voice cracking on her own disbelief and panic.
“I’m dead,” Chuuya repeated numbly to himself, “I’m dead and this is hell.” He looked down at his trembling hands and squeezed them into fists. “There’s no other explanation.” “Well, that’s morbid,” Dazai mused, turning to face Ranpo. “Did I handle it this badly?” “Earthquake.” “Earthquake?” Chuuya repeated helplessly, forcing his gaze back towards the two. “Did he cause an earthquake?” He could distantly hear his friends’ comments in the background, but their voices were drowned under his growing terror. “Could I cause an earthquake?” “Oh, certainly,” Ranpo hummed, earning a loud snort from Dazai. “But that’s what acolytes are for.” “Acowhat?” Tachihara demanded, stepping forwards as if to pull Chuuya away from the other two. “Look, I don’t know what’s going on but if you think Chuuya would do–” “Ranpo,” Dazai cut in, easily speaking over Tachihara. “Can you get us some space?”
“Gladly,” Ranpo agreed, glancing past Tachihara to where Gin, Kenji, and Poe stood huddled in the corner. An odd glint shone in those green eyes when they landed on Poe, lingering for a moment too long before he grinned. “See ya soon,” With a snap of his fingers, Ranpo disappeared. And with him, his four best friends followed.

could I possible get a 🫐 lemonade with 🍿for chuuya and Tachihara? Purely platonic. I just. Really need them to be buddies? I have a lot of thoughts about them and they mean the world to me
🍋 Lemonade Special Order 🍋
This was such a nice change of pace? I never thought about these two being friends but now I love the idea! Thank you for the prompt!
~~~
Chuuya plopped down with the large bowl of popcorn unceremoniously, stuffing a handful into his mouth as he mumbled, “All right, what crap are we watching today?”
Tachihara gave him a look. “Don’t get too excited, now.”
“Tch, what? You always pick bad movies. I’m just bracing myself.”
“Because your movies are so much better.”
“Excuse me for preferring something other than blood and gore horror!”
“That’s literally your life; how can you be so squeamish?”
“It’s because it’s my life that I want something else, asshole!”
Chuuya huffed to himself, but inwardly he couldn’t help but feel giddy at the exchange. He didn’t really have what he’d consider friends in his life; even calling Tachihara anything other than a coworker was pushing it, really, but it was the closest thing he had to any kind of friendly relationship besides that stupid Dazai, and sometimes he just wanted to hang out with the other redhead.
Even if most of their conversations did go like this.
“Fine, what do you want to watch, boss?” Tachihara groaned, reaching for a handful of popcorn.
“Why would I tell you? You always laugh at my choices.”
“Because they’re lame romcoms.”
“Not all of them!” Chuuya protested.
Tachihara smirked. “Well, I guess there was that one time you wanted to try a darker romance and you got more than you bargained for—”
“You shut your mouth!” Chuuya snapped, throwing a handful of popcorn at the other man, who flinched and laughed. Annoyed – but still feeling oddly playful – the mafioso set the bowl aside and lunged for Tachihara, tackling him onto the cushions of the couch and finding purchase in his ribs. “Fine, you want to laugh? I’ll give you something to laugh about!”
“Ah! Nohohohoho, wahahahahait – no fahahahahahair! Don’t tihihihihihihickle me!” Tachihara cackled despite himself, trying to curl up but failing miserably. He squirmed and laughed under Chuuya’s surprisingly gentle onslaught, trying to push him away. “You ahahahahahass! We can wahahahahahatch whatever, just lehehehehehemme go!”
“Maybe I wanna teach you a little respect for your superiors first, Band-Aid.”
“Oh, sohohohohoho orihihihihiginal! Nihihihihice insult – gah, shihihihihihit!” Tachihara arched his back with a shriek when Chuuya dove a hand into his armpit. “Fine, okahahahahay, you win! I respehehehehehehect you! Fuhuhuhuhucker, let me gohohohohoho!”
Chuuya scoffed. “Sounds like you respect me.” But he relented anyway, settling back into his original position and picking up the bowl of popcorn.
Tachihara groaned as he sat up, then swiped the bowl from his boss and stuffed another handful of buttery kernels into his mouth. “I do, you know. Respect you.”
Chuuya yanked the bowl back. “Shut up and pick one of your lame horror flicks, Tachi.”
The other redhead smirked to himself as he grabbed the remote and began to scroll through the options. Being friends with Chuuya was…interesting. But it certainly was never boring, and he liked it that way.
"I have to go," they said. Their face was void of any emtion. Their empty eyes bore holes into yours as they held you hand gently.
"I know," you replied, "but before you go, take this." You handed them a small silver ring, barely worth anything but it felt like you placed the world in their hands. Probably something better. Hope? Home? Your heart? Neither of you knew.
"You know I'd take you with me if I could," they said, "right?"
"I know."
"I'm sorry."
"I know."
"Will we be ok?"
The rain was pouring heavily as your breath hitched. Both of you were soaked to the bone, basking in each other's presence. You didn't know. You couldn't offer comforting words or confirmation that you two would be ok in the end. All you could do was give them something to remind them of you.
"Do you think we'll meet in the future?" you asked.
They gave a hollow laugh. "Maybe," they said, "if you believe in fate."
You let a small hum and dropped his hand with the ring in it.
"Goodbye (character name)."
"Why do you always stare at that ring?" their friend asked.
"It reminds me of someone who was very dear to me."
Shadows of Deceit - Tachihara x reader
When Y/N, an executive of the Port Mafia, discovers that her boyfriend Tachihara is a double agent for the Hunting Dogs, her world is turned upside down. Struggling to maintain normalcy while grappling with his betrayal, she faces a heart-wrenching dilemma: expose him and risk his life or protect him and compromise her loyalty. As tensions rise and emotions run high, the couple must confront the tangled web of love and deception that binds them. With trust shattered and hearts on the line, Y/N and Tachihara navigate the precarious path of reconciliation, knowing that their future hangs in the balance.
Request are open!
Masterlist
The Port Mafia's headquarters was a fortress of shadows, whispers, and secrets. Y/N, a formidable executive, had always been adept at navigating the labyrinth of lies that shrouded her world. But lately, her steps had faltered, her once steady heart now clouded with doubt.
It all began a few months ago. She had been cleaning their shared apartment when she stumbled upon a hidden compartment in Tachihara's drawer. Her breath hitched as she pulled out a polished badge and a dagger, both unmistakably marked with the insignia of the Hunting Dogs. The realization crashed over her like a tidal wave: her boyfriend, Tachihara, was a double agent.
From that moment, the ease of their relationship vanished. Every shared meal, every touch, every whisper of sweet nothings became a minefield of tension. She couldn't let him know she had discovered his secret, not until she could figure out what to do. But pretending became harder with each passing day
"Hey, Y/N, you look tense. Everything alright?" Tachihara's voice was casual, but his eyes bore into her with a sharpness she hadn't noticed before.
Y/N forced a smile, her fingers clenching around the coffee mug. "Just tired. Mafia business, you know how it is."
He nodded, his expression sympathetic. But she saw it now—the subtle calculation behind his gaze, the way his eyes flicked to her hands, the slight tensing of his jaw. He was always assessing, always analyzing.
The days turned into weeks, and the weeks into months. At work, Tachihara was the picture of loyalty, his dedication to the Port Mafia unwavering. At home, he was attentive, caring, even loving. But Y/N couldn't shake the feeling that every act of affection was a performance, every tender moment a carefully constructed illusion.
One night, as they lay in bed, she felt his arm snake around her waist. She stiffened, the warmth of his body a stark contrast to the chill in her heart.
"You're distant lately," he murmured against her hair. "Something's bothering you."
She swallowed, her mind racing. "It's nothing, really. Just...stress."
His grip tightened, just for a moment. "You can tell me anything, you know that."
She nodded, not trusting her voice. How could she tell him that she knew? That every time she looked at him, she saw betrayal etched in his features?
The breaking point came on a stormy evening. The rain lashed against the windows, the thunder a distant growl. Y/N was in her office, buried in paperwork, when Tachihara entered. His expression was unreadable, his eyes dark.
"Y/N, we need to talk."
She looked up, her heart pounding. "About what?"
He closed the door behind him, his movements deliberate. "About us. About what you've been hiding."
The air thickened with tension. "I don't know what you mean."
"Don't lie to me!" His voice cracked like a whip, and she flinched. "You've been acting strange for months. What did you find?"
Her mind raced. There was no more hiding. "The badge. The dagger. I found them in your drawer."
His eyes widened, and for a moment, she saw the flash of panic. But it was quickly replaced by something harder. "So, you know."
"Yes." Her voice was barely a whisper. "I know you're a Hunting Dog. I know you're using me to gather information."
The silence was deafening. Tachihara's face twisted with a mix of anger and something that looked like regret. "I didn't want it to come to this."
Y/N stood, her legs trembling. "Why, Tachihara? Why did you do this?"
He stepped closer, his eyes burning with intensity. "I had no choice. It's my duty. But...it wasn't all a lie. I care about you, Y/N. More than I should.
"Care?" She laughed bitterly, tears stinging her eyes. "You betrayed me. You used me."
He reached for her, but she stepped back. "Y/N, please. I never wanted to hurt you."
She shook her head, her voice breaking. "But you did. And now, I have to decide what to do with this information. Do I tell the Port Mafia? Do I keep your secret?"
Tachihara's expression softened, the hardness in his eyes melting away. "I know it's a lot to ask, but please...don't tell them. Not yet."
Her heart ached with the weight of his plea. She wanted to hate him, to despise him for what he had done. But the love she felt was still there, tangled with the pain and betrayal.
"I don't know if I can do that," she whispered.
He nodded, his eyes filled with sorrow. "I understand. But whatever you decide, know that I never meant for it to end like this."
As he turned to leave, Y/N's voice stopped him. "Tachihara...do you still love me?"
He paused, his back to her. "More than anything. That's the truth."
And then he was gone, leaving Y/N alone with the shadows of deceit that had woven themselves into the fabric of their lives. The decision lay heavy on her shoulders, the lines between love and betrayal blurring into an agonizing gray.
The storm outside mirrored the turmoil within Y/N. Tachihara’s confession left her standing in the eye of a hurricane, the world around her shifting unpredictably. Days passed, and the gnawing tension between them became unbearable. Every interaction, every glance, was fraught with unspoken words and lingering suspicions.
One evening, Y/N found herself alone in the apartment, her thoughts a tumultuous sea. The decision she faced was paralyzing. To expose Tachihara would be to doom him, yet keeping his secret felt like a betrayal of everything she stood for. She couldn’t shake the image of his sorrowful eyes, the genuine pain she’d seen there. It was impossible to reconcile the man she loved with the double agent who had deceived her.
Tachihara had left that morning without a word, the silence between them more damning than any argument. Y/N couldn’t focus on work; her mind kept drifting back to the night of their confrontation. His words echoed in her mind: “More than anything. That’s the truth.”
But was it enough?
The door creaked open, and Y/N’s heart leaped into her throat. Tachihara stepped in, soaked from the rain, his expression unreadable. They stared at each other, the room thick with unspoken tension.
“Y/N,” he began, his voice tired, “we can’t keep living like this.”
“I know.” Her voice was barely a whisper. “I just don’t know what to do.”
He moved closer, his gaze intense. “You don’t have to protect me. If telling the Mafia is what you need to do, then do it. I won’t stop you.”
The vulnerability in his eyes was a stark contrast to the steely resolve she’d grown used to. It broke something inside her, the walls she’d built to protect herself crumbling away.
“Tachihara, I...” She took a shaky breath. “I don’t know if I can trust you anymore.”
He nodded, pain flickering across his features. “I understand. But you deserve the truth. All of it.”
He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small, leather-bound journal, placing it on the table between them. “Everything’s in here. My orders, my mission...my feelings for you.”
Y/N stared at the journal, the weight of its significance pressing down on her. It was a tangible representation of his betrayal, but also his attempt at redemption.
“I’ve put you in an impossible position,” Tachihara said quietly. “And I’m sorry. For everything.”
She looked up, meeting his gaze. “Why did you have to be a Hunting Dog?”
“It’s who I am,” he replied simply. “But being with you...it made me question everything. I never wanted to hurt you, Y/N.”
The sincerity in his voice was undeniable, and for the first time in months, Y/N felt a glimmer of hope. Maybe, just maybe, they could find a way through this.
“I need time,” she said, her voice firm. “Time to read this, to think.”
He nodded, understanding in his eyes. “Take all the time you need.”
The following weeks were a blur of introspection and doubt. Y/N pored over the journal, each entry a revelation, a piece of the puzzle that was Tachihara. She learned about his orders, his mission, and most importantly, his struggle. It was clear that his feelings for her had complicated his duty, creating a rift between his loyalty to the Hunting Dogs and his love for her.
One entry caught her attention, dated a few months back. It detailed the Armed Detective Agency’s supposed involvement in a terrorist attack. The Hunting Dogs were tasked with eliminating the threat, but Tachihara had harbored doubts. He had trusted the conclusions of Gin and Ryuro, who had evidence that the agency was being framed. Despite the orders from his superiors, Tachihara had chosen to believe them and worked covertly to assist the Armed Detective Agency, trying to uncover the real perpetrators.
Y/N couldn’t help but feel a pang of admiration. Despite everything, Tachihara had risked his life to protect innocent people, defying his orders for the sake of truth. It was a glimmer of the man she had fallen in love with, buried beneath layers of deceit.
One evening, as she sat in her office, the final page of the journal open before her, she made her decision. She would meet with Tachihara and confront him one last time.
The sun was setting as they met on the rooftop of their apartment building, the city below a maze of lights and shadows. Tachihara stood by the edge, his posture tense, his gaze distant.
Y/N approached, her heart heavy but resolute. “I’ve read everything.”
He turned, a flicker of hope in his eyes. “And?”
She took a deep breath, steeling herself. “I won’t tell the Port Mafia. Not yet. But things have to change. No more lies, no more secrets. If we’re going to try to make this work, it has to be built on trust.”
Relief washed over his face, but he didn’t move. “I understand. And I promise, no more lies.”
She stepped closer, the space between them charged with unresolved tension. “This isn’t forgiveness, Tachihara. It’s a chance. Don’t make me regret it.”
He nodded, his eyes filled with a mixture of gratitude and determination. “I won’t. I swear.” He took a moment to think before continuing “I think I should tell Mori… I think more than anything, I’m a Black Lizard, more than I could ever be a Hunting Dog”
As they stood together, the city sprawling out beneath them, Y/N knew their journey was far from over. But for the first time in months, there was a glimmer of hope. They would face the shadows together, navigating the treacherous path of love and betrayal, one step at a time.
Omg you're backkkk<3 I hope uni's going well for you!
Maybe the Hunting Dogs with a s/o who's kind of mean/petty?
Hunting Dogs with a mean S/O
♡ pairing: Fukuchi Ouchi, Jouno Saigiku, Tecchou Suehiro, Teruko Okura (platonic), Tachihara Michizou x gn!Reader
♡ synopsis: How are the Hunting Dogs with a mean and petty S/O?
♡ cw: Swearing, u r a BULLY >:((, dw it's pretty chill though, non-graphic NSFW with Jouno, teensy bit of NSFW with Tachihara, mentions of violence, crime and torture
note: ahhh hello yes i'm back! uni's pretty great actually. i love being able to tell people i go to law school lmao, it makes me feel smarter than i am. uhh but i've been swamped and a bit busy, and i'm going back home for a week so i might not be super active over the next couple weeks, i'm so sorry my babies </3 but i'll still be lurking in case you wanna chat! as always, apologies for errors and i hope you enjoy x
Fukuchi:
Mf you think he cares?? He hired Jouno and Tachihara because they committed crimes, and he's more than happy to keep Teruko around. Bro doesn't give a FUCK that you're mean
If you're dating Fukuchi you clearly do give a shit about the welfare of society and world peace, so your individual quirks are just that. Quirks
He will fully let you just be a dickhead sometimes, because...like, why not?
I feel like Fukuchi is obviously often a very intimidating individual who strikes fear and commands respect from everyone else. But you? You just walk all over him
In some ways for him it's probably kind of refreshing to have someone around him who doesn't idolise him at all, or look up to him as a superior. It gets exhausting, for sure. Sometimes he just wants to be humbled and that's so okay Fukuchi, you deserve it actually /mean-spirited and condescending
Don't get me wrong it's not like you're an abusive partner! You're still obviously nice to your partner and you love him, but you definitely don't go out of your way to sugarcoat things or try to avoid any necessary confrontations
And Fukuchi genuinely really respects that about you. He's pretty similar like that, though still definitely goofier than you
I mean he won't want you sitting around with an RBF when he's at formal events and whatnot, because that really wouldn't have the best impression, but he's usually very gung ho about letting you be yourself
You're lucky he loves you man...lmao
Jouno:
He loves it. Full stop.
You two are just sadist central over here. Like he'll be torturing a suspect and you're just watching. Bored. Not a care in the world
(Jouno, I don't think you're legally allowed to invite your partner to watch you do your job- much less one like this, but...eh...)
You two are always just talking shit about people to each other, and like when you're out in public on dates you're just whispering to each other and judging people T-T
Lowkey kinda gets turned on when you guys argue. He thinks it's hot when you get heated and angry. Usually it ends in rough "passionate hugging", and the pillowtalk is when you both actually resolve the issue (dumbasses)
He might even purposefully rile you up sometimes because mf is just THAT much of a horny degenerate. You guys can call him classy and gentlemanly all you want, but we all know he's secretly deranged
Like an angry, horny goblin with a knife...someone stop him
Tbh you should probably bully him a little bit every now and then. I think he needs to be taken down a peg sometimes
Hey, he's more likely to listen to you than Tecchou, isn't he? Besides, it's nothing genuinely malicious. Just couple's banter
Oh, you guys are fucking LEGENDS at the couple's banter. Though you never do it in public, because a lot of the times the things you both tell each other as jokes can come off as really cruel jabs
Nah your senses of humour are just not family-friendly (violent and malicious)
You guys have very strange ways of showing your love and affection. But, hey, it works for you and that's what's important :)
Tecchou:
Ah yes, arguably the least meanie of all of the Hunting Dogs. Yeah uh he doesn't really like you at first
Tecchou doesn't understand being mean just for the sake of it. I mean like, for Teruko, she uses it in her career, and Jouno is sadistic and weird and also uses it in his career. You're just petty because you can be
But the more time you spend together the more he realises that you're really not that bad- you're really just more of the loveable asshole type
An acquired taste, yes, but this is Tecchou we're talking about! That's his thing!
He learns to appreciate the things about you that many others would probably consider flaws. He influences you for the better definitely...
...BUT you also kinda make him worse
He will adopt your 'deal with it bitch' attitude sometimes, but it doesn't hinder his relationships or work so it's fiiiiine
(Jouno isn't a huge fan of it though...but at the same time he kind of respects you)
Tecchou probably won't admit it but he really likes to listen to you rant and bitch about people you don't like. He just likes to listen to you be angry about trivial things, he finds it equal parts endearing and entertaining
If you're mean to someone who deserves it? Well I mean...who is he to stop you?
At the end of the day you're definitely emotionally self-sufficient, so that's one less part of you for him to fret over. All's well that ends well or some shit idk
Teruko (platonic):
You guys are literally the best of friends
She's the loud fiery kind of mean and you are the 'I will straight up meticulously ruin your life' kind of mean
You on some r/nuclearrevenge type shit and she fucking loves that for you
Like she's fully willing to plot and scheme with you and do whatever mean shit you suggest. You two are menaces and she should absolutely not be a military soldier
Teruko WILL smite your enemies. And by smite your enemies I mean she will actively do what she can to ruin the lives of people you don't like, with absolutely no remorse (pretty sure she actually commits crimes to do this)
She LIVES for your cruel one-liners and clever insults. Every time she hears one she absolutely hollers
Teruko enjoys it when you're mean to the other Hunting Dogs (except Fukuchi). They can handle a couple bitchy words so it's not a huge deal, but she's just extra amused by it
For the record you're not *mean* mean, you're just...humbling them (which let's be real they could use from time to time (Jouno, again, looking at you))
Nobody is surprised by your guys' friendship really
You're a dangerous pair. Please stop
Teruko kinda likes that you hold grudges so frequently because she'll never tire of hearing you shittalk the same exact people and events over and over again
She'll shittalk them too
Dia doesn't approve of this friendship
Tachihara:
You guys know that scene in B99 where Jake says that he can't decide if he's scared of Amy or turned on by her and then decides that he's both? Yea, that's Tachihara with you
He is a good person at heart, and outside of his mafia gangster persona he's really not that mean, and as such he does not encourage mean behaviour. But like, when you do it? Mm...
Bro is WHIPPED
Lowkey he probably gets some of his mafia persona ideas from you 💀
His mafia coworkers have no questions about how you two get along, and they generally like you. The other Hunting Dogs have a few more questions
Tachihara isn't some shy, quiet introvert, but he is generally pretty chill and a nice person. They like to playfully tease him about how different the two of you are (though if it gets too far he knows he can count on you to rip them a new one with no issue)
Dw they still like you though! Especially Teruko
He has absolutely no problems with you for being cold and blunt. It's nothing he himself can't handle, and in some ways it actually makes talking to you easier
Again, I'll stress that you're not mean to him, you're just not the most lovey-dovey person out there. But you DO put effort in and that's what Tachihara cares about, even if it isn't in a stereotypical way
If anything else, you're certainly loyal!
Tachihara loves you for all of your different eccentricities, and he's also kinda turned on by them. Win-win? Win-win.
Keep It Simple, Stupid!!
˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ LuvFy0dors 600 Followers Event ੈ✩‧₊˚
requests accepted from; May 2nd - June 30th or prompts max out
First of all, i wanna say im so insanely thankful for 600 followers!!! It means the world to me that my writing is so well received. I've seen a bunch of people do events for follower milestones, and when I hit 500 I figured I'd use the time between 500 and 600 to finish the requests that I've been slacking on. I'd also like to apologize for that. But back to the actual event- I've seen people post prompt lists and let people pick characters to go with said prompts, so I want mine to be based on kisses!! Kisses are so sweet and intimate to me, so I've thought up a bunch of action and dialogue prompts for you guys to choose from! Next to each prompt is a number in brackets, that's the max amount of characters I can do for each one . (If someone has done this, please let me know!! I don't want anyone to think I'm copying them.)
Some rules and guidelines before we start;
♡ Up to two characters per request!
♡ I don't think it'd be a problem, but you're allowed to send up to three requests for this event - I'll put it in good faith and won't take off anon, so please try to keep it there!! I don't think it'll be an issue though.
♡ please forgive me if it takes me a while, mid-may things should be easier to write since I won't be prepping for an AP exam any longer, but if I take a hot second, that's why ^^
♡ Anyone can request!! Follower or not.
Acceptable Characters (In order of my confidence in writing for them); Fyodor Dostoevsky, Nikolai Gogol, Chuuya Nakahara, Dazai Osamu, Sigma, Atsushi Nakajima, Akutagawa Ryuunosuke, Doppo Kunikida, Ranpo Edogawa, Tachihara
Request Details; You can mix prompts, up to two per request, but an extra prompt takes the place of the second character you're allowed per req!! If you'd like me to include certain details in the drabble, you're more than welcome to add those to your req! Depending on the prompt it might be a scenario or a drabble.
˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ Promts
Non-Dialogue;
good morning kisses → Kunikida
good night kisses → Nikolai,
goodbye kisses
rain kisses → Nikolai,
cheek kisses
spiderman kisses → Fyodor, Sigma
pinky promise kisses
thigh kisses → Nikolai,
prolonged Kisses → Chuuya, Fyodor
new years eve kisses
wedding kisses
breathless kisses
soft and sweet kisses [2] Fyodor,
blown kisses
hand kisses → Nikolai,
neck kisses → Chuuya, Akutagawa,
peppered kisses
im sorry kisses → Nikolai, Ranpo, Chuuya, Fyodor
last kisses
first kisses → Chuuya, Sigma,
eager kisses
Otherwise;
“seal it with a kiss” - love letters from him [3]
Thank you so much again!! ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ
ao3! please refer to the tags in the link for content + warnings! sicktember 2023, alt 3: pounding headache
“Jouno? Are you in here?”
Tecchou pokes his head into the restroom, and at first, he’s only met with an echo. Normally, that would be enough evidence for him to continue his search for his colleague elsewhere, but he’s spent the past half hour looking around their headquarters for him with no luck.
So he decides to hang around for just a few more seconds. He knows he can’t outsmart Jouno. If he is in here, he’ll know Tecchou hasn’t left, and he can’t fake footsteps in the other direction, either.
Tecchou leans against the wall in the hallway entrance to the restroom and waits.
“You really piss me off,” the voice finally says. Hoarse and generally sounding unwell. Tecchou had a feeling something wasn’t right with him. He’s been much less hostile today. Honestly, he thinks this is the first rude comment he’s gotten from him all morning. “Don’t you have better things to do than to stalk me, Tecchou?”
Tecchou almost tells him that no, he actually doesn’t have anything better to do, but before he can, he hears Jouno retch so hard that it sounds painful. Tecchou tenses up at the sound of it, and almost expects more comments to follow, but he just ends up breathing heavily for the next few seconds before Tecchou walks further into the bathroom, quickly locating the stall that Jouno is curled up in. His cape and hat are on the floor near the entrance, like he was in a rush to take them off.
“Are you sick?” Tecchou asks, tilting his head at the door.
“Get out of here before I make you leave, Tecchou,” Jouno grumbles, his voice trembling and softer than before, but the threat he’s making is very real.
“I was just asking,” Tecchou defends with a pout. Jouno seems to think Tecchou has some ulterior motives to being a decent human being sometimes. He really doesn’t. He just wants to know what’s going on. “You sound sick.”
“I’m not sick. Go mind your own business,” Jouno huffs. Tecchou sees him shift under the door.
“Did you not just -”
“It’s a headache. And you’re making it worse. So get. Out,” Jouno hisses, injecting far more venom into his tone with that than anything else he’s said today so far.
It’s all starting to make a lot more sense.
Tecchou isn’t sure he would call them simple headaches. What Jouno suffers from must be something closer to migraines, because they really severely debilitate him. Throwing up like this isn’t uncommon for him at all, and voices or sounds of any kind seem to make him feel much, much worse because of those heightened senses he has.
Tecchou understands what he needs to do. Fix everything on the outside, and then go help Jouno.
“I’ll be right back,” Tecchou says, as quietly as he can muster, because he knows Jouno will hear him regardless. He hears Jouno grumble something back, but Tecchou’s already on his way out of the restroom.
Thankfully, he catches sight of another Hunting Dog just as soon as he turns the corner. Tachihara’s a bit late as usual, but on time for him, considering his infiltration job. They had a meeting earlier this morning, and Jouno was the one who offered to pass along that information to Tachihara.
"Tachihara."
"Uh…yeah, Tecchou? What's up?" Tachihara says, looking a bit on edge. Tecchou isn’t sure why. Maybe he should have given him a normal greeting first, but Jouno is his priority right now.
"Tell Fukuchi that Jouno won't be able to finish today. He doesn't feel well," Tecchou says.
"Oh, is…is he okay?" Tachihara asks, his tense expression softening a bit.
“He has a bad headache,” Tecchou explains. He’s almost certain that Jouno can hear him and he’s almost expecting Jouno to suddenly appear between the two of them with a sword jabbed in Tecchou’s foot, but he never does. “Ask Fukuchi or Teruko to relay the information you missed this morning.”
“Oh - yeah, okay,” Tachihara nods. He doesn’t leave right away, interestingly enough. He looks like he wants to, but he stops, and eyes Tecchou again. “Is there - can I do something to help? Should I get one of the nurses?”
“I don’t think that will be necessary,” Tecchou says. He briefly considered that, but Jouno hates receiving medical treatment of any kind. He always says he simply doesn’t need it, but he thinks it’s a very overwhelming process for him.
That’s the worst part of the headaches, Tecchou thinks. Jouno’s senses are so enhanced, and headaches would cause a person with standard senses enough pain as it is, but it’s so much worse for Jouno. He’s able to keep his head high most of the time, but Tecchou knows that everyone has a breaking point, and he’s hit it already. Tecchou thinks he knows what he can do.
“Can you ask the receptionists to clear the top two floors?” Tecchou asks. It’s a reasonable request, he thinks, but Tachihara’s eyes go wide.
“Clear them? Like, everybody out?” Tachihara asks. Tecchou nods back at him. The top two floors aren’t too densely populated, most of the people working up there have the ability to relocate to lower offices, he’s sure.
“That way I can take him up there and he can rest properly,” Tecchou explains. Tachihara seems to be figuring out the reason himself - Jouno wouldn’t be able to rest properly with a headache when there are people around, even on the floor below him. Tachihara is on his way soon enough, albeit hesitantly, and with him informing the rest of the team, all Tecchou needs to do now is get Jouno upstairs.
He walks back into the restrooms, as quietly as he can, but he’s sure in the end it makes no difference to Jouno. He’s quiet again for a few moments, focusing on Jouno’s heavy breathing. One breath ends in a pained groan before he decides to speak again.
“I can just go home, you know,” Jouno mumbles. Tecchou had considered that, but he’s sure it’s more of a last resort option than preferred - Jouno gets terrible motion sickness, and he doesn’t live close to their headquarters at all. That drive would just make him so much more miserable.
Tecchou brandishes his blade and extends it to travel over the door and unlock the stall with ease before placing it back in its sheath. He opens the door, which, to his surprise, makes an awful, high-pitched squeak, even loud for himself - Jouno, who has tucked himself in between the wall and the toilet, brings his hands up to his ears and almost whimpers. Tecchou isn’t used to hearing sounds like that from him.
“I’ll make sure they fix that,” Tecchou says in a whisper as he kneels down in front of Jouno. He studies his face for a moment. He’s incredibly pale, something he’d already taken note of earlier. There’s so much tension around his eyes, his face is so twisted up from the pain he’s feeling.
“I don’t get you,” Jouno barely manages. It almost sounds like he’s about to start crying, with the way his voice breaks at the end there.
Tecchou doesn’t entertain his taunts.
“Let’s go upstairs,” Tecchou says, reaching his hand out to graze Jouno’s as an offer to help him up, but Jouno only uses that hand to swat him away.
“I don’t need your help. Go find something better to do. Watch some ants or something,” Jouno groans as he uses the bar on the wall to help himself stand, but the way his legs are shaking is proof enough that he won’t make it very far. Tecchou lets him try, though, maybe he’ll prove him wrong - he backs up as Jouno leaves the stall, and he briefly slides in to flush the toilet. He’s concerned with how little he's actually thrown up. His guess is that he’s been dealing with this all morning and hasn’t eaten anything as a result.
Tecchou wishes he had noticed sooner. Jouno’s very good at hiding when he’s in pain.
Jouno kneels down to pick up his hat and cape with a shaky hand, but Tecchou’s faster than him, he takes both off of the floor and starts to neatly fold the cape. Jouno has this way of glaring at Tecchou without using his eyes. Scary.
“At least let me do this,” Tecchou says.
“You’ve done enough already. Stop bothering me,” Jouno grumbles as he tries to stand himself up, but evidently, he does it far too quickly - his expression relaxes and Tecchou thinks he’s fainted, just for a second, so he takes his arm into a firm grip to steady him.
“Are you alright?” Tecchou asks. Jouno hasn’t completely gone limp, he’s still standing against Tecchou, so thankfully he didn’t completely pass out. “Did you stand too fast?”
“Just take me upstairs,” Jouno mumbles, and Tecchou does as he’s asked. That was his plan anyway, he’s just glad Jouno has realized he can’t fight him on it anymore. Tecchou lays the back of his wrist over Jouno’s forehead just to make sure he isn’t running a temperature. It’s warm, but not any warmer than it should be.
The elevator is just down the hallway, but Tecchou doesn’t rush him. He has Jouno’s arm securely hooked within his. He’s slower than normal. He must still be in pain. Tecchou wonders if the act of walking is what’s painful, and for a second, he thinks about carrying him there instead.
“I’m not letting you carry me here,” Jouno huffs as they make it to the elevator. Tecchou presses the button. Tecchou doesn’t think Jouno can actually read minds. He’s just really good at making assumptions.
“Here? So you’d let me do it elsewhere?” Tecchou asks, purely out of curiosity, before they enter the elevator.
Jouno groans. “I really can't stand you, Tecchou."
That's not a no.
Once they’re inside, Jouno inadvertently answers Tecchou’s question and lays his head on Tecchou’s shoulder with a quiet, shaky sigh. He wraps his other arm around Tecchou’s for just a second before the elevator slows to their floor, and he slides his arm out as the doors open. Tecchou could feel his cheeks getting warm.
Tecchou still walks with him down to the end of the hallway. There’s a room with bunk beds they often use to rest in case they can’t go home for any reason. Tecchou wonders why he didn’t go here in the first place, so he could at least lay down - maybe he really couldn’t make it there by himself.
Jouno breaks off from him once they make it inside the room. He lays Jouno’s hat and cape on the desk as Jouno takes off his boots and crawls into the bed, not caring to remove the rest of his uniform. Tecchou doesn’t blame him. He takes off his own hat and cape before he disappears to the adjacent kitchenette to take something from the freezer.
Once he’s back in the room with Jouno, he shuts the lights off and sits at the edge of the bed, silent for a moment, just in case Jouno has already miraculously fallen asleep.
“Tecchou, please,” Jouno murmurs.
“This should help. Try it,” Tecchou says.
Jouno turns over to face Tecchou. “I’m not trying anything you’ve made -”
“It’s not edible. It’s an ice pack. You should put it on the back of your neck, it should help your headache,” Tecchou tells him, as convincing as he can sound. He hasn’t personally tried this, but he’s gotten icepacks for this purpose at Fukuchi’s request before.
Jouno almost looks like he’s about to turn back around, but Tecchou decides he’s just going to gently slide a hand under Jouno’s head to place the ice pack under his neck. Jouno, surprisingly, sinks into it without any fight back from Tecchou.
Jouno sighs and lays a hand over his forehead with a heavy sigh.
“I can’t believe you told Tachihara to evacuate the top two floors,” Jouno mumbles.
“Did he?” Tecchou asks. He didn’t think he could get it done that quickly, but Tachihara is very reliable when it comes to following orders.
“I don’t hear anyone.” Jouno confirms quietly. “Still, downstairs, but…it’s not nearly as loud.”
“Good,” Tecchou says. Even if that’s all that could be done, he’s glad they did it.
“It does feel a little better,” Jouno barely manages. Tecchou thinks he’s starting to get tired, which he believes must be a good sign. It’s not bothering him as much as before, he’s feeling okay enough to get tired. He didn’t think the ice pack would help that quickly, but maybe it’s a combination of everything. The quiet of the space, the comfort of the bed.
“I can get one for your forehead too,” Tecchou says.
“That’d...be good.”
Tecchou is swift in his strides back to the kitchenette to take another ice pack from the freezer, since even though it’s indirect, Jouno is finally accepting his help. He’s back at his side in no time at all to lay the ice pack on Jouno’s forehead. At first, he flinches at the sudden cold, but Tecchou watches his expression quickly relax. It’s good to know for the future that this is something that helps him.
“Do you have your cell phone on you?” Tecchou asks him. Jouno nods. “Okay. You can text me if you need something. I’ll be around.”
To his surprise, Jouno has nothing to say to that. He just grunts in acknowledgment, and with that, Tecchou stands up, and heads for the door.
Just before his hand touches the doorknob, he hears Jouno’s voice.
“Wait,” he murmurs. Tecchou freezes. “All of a sudden…you have something better to do?”
Tecchou lowers his hand. “No, not really.”
“Then stay,” Jouno says. This response is even more surprising than him saying nothing at all.
So, Tecchou does as Jouno asks of him. He takes off his boots and crawls onto the twin-sized mattress beside Jouno, who doesn’t make a single objection, no attempts to take back his request. Tecchou won’t lie, this is an opportunity he’ll gladly take after he didn’t get much sleep last night, but he’s sort of glad to be beside Jouno, too.
“You’re an idiot for going out of your way for me,” Jouno murmurs.
“It wasn’t out of my way,” Tecchou whispers. “I don’t want to see you miserable.”
Jouno huffs and turns his head, just enough to face Tecchou and to not move his ice packs too much. Tecchou turns so he’s laying on his side to face Jouno. His expression has relaxed considerably since the last time he studied his face like this.
Jouno’s hand reaches out to cradle the side of Tecchou’s face. He doesn’t say anything, but his hand is ice cold, just like his hands always are. Tecchou’s hands are often too warm for Jouno’s liking. Tecchou wonders sometimes if there’s any meaning behind that.
Tecchou lays his own hand on top of Jouno’s.
It’s not long before Jouno slides his hand away, and Tecchou wonders why he tried in the first place, up until Jouno catches Tecchou’s hand to squeeze it and lay between the two of them. It’s still so cold. Tecchou’s hands are bigger than Jouno’s, they’re rather dainty and delicate. Tecchou’s hand wraps around Jouno’s easily, and he squeezes it, just for a few moments before he relaxes again.
Tecchou wants to say something, but any ideas he has are dead on his tongue. Jouno is a very confusing person. One moment he’s yelling in Tecchou’s face and the next he’s lying beside him and squeezing his hand like his life depends on it. Tecchou’s cheeks get hot and pink like he’s embarrassed but he doesn’t know why.
“I like you too,” Jouno mumbles just as he starts to fall asleep.
Apparently, Jouno knows why.
