Chapter 6 - Dark Phoenix II - Emergence of conflagration
Part 2:
We slowly moved inside, taking down guards one by one. Natasha secured the security room and Sam got the armory room.
Us 5 had successfully reached the entrance and the only thing we needed to enter was Nat’s signal of a clear path. “How are you guys doing?” I asked in the comms. “There are about 50 guards left inside. Klaue is at the top of the building,” Natasha informed us. “How’s our way inside looking?” I asked. “Just a second…” She said, clearly focused on what she was doing. “You’re clear, go get him.” “I’m planning on it.”
We made our way through each level quietly. Collected all the files we found, searching for Vibranium and Klaue.
In no time we were nearing the top floor. We were left with 7 men and Klaue. “You get the guards, I have Klaue,” I looked at the agents, and once they all nodded we broke in the door, not leaving a second for them to escape.
Our agents were on Klaue’s men quickly and I spotted Klaue at the other side of the room. “Sam get over here and collect the Vibranium, Nat get all their data from the main hardware, and send your team over here. I’ll get Klaue,” I said and ran to Klaue. As he saw me coming he held up a different-looking gun and he aimed at me. Kicked up a metal table and threw it at him, making him fall back into a door and roll down some stairs. I followed him to the stairway and before I got to him, he started running down the stairs. Sent a fireball in front of him, trying to stop him, but it didn’t bother him, and jumped over the burning area and continued running.
Trying to stop him I tried to fire at him but somehow he managed to run out of the building. I followed him closely and finally hit him with a fireball, making him fall to the ground. “Who are you working for? Who needs this much Vibranium?” I asked as I stood over the man. “A lot of people,” he said with a devilish smile. “Who are you providing this for?”
He looked behind me and the next second someone jumped at me, sending me about 100 feet away from Klaue. I rolled in the dirt making me cough. I looked up and saw a man in a black catsuit, helmet covering his head. “What the hell, man?” I got up and when I looked to Klaue’s way he was gone. “I lost Klaue,” I said in the comms. The cat man didn’t waste time and started punching me. I tried to block his moves, and when I grabbed his arm I burned him but it seemed he didn’t even notice. “Why are you stealing Vibranium?” He asked and I frowned. “Stealing? I’m trying to get it away from Klaue!” I explained while we kept fighting. “How do you know him?” He asked not even bothering to stop. “I’ve been after him for months, he’s supplying someone with Vibranium, I’m trying to find out who! Stop fucking punching me,” I said angrily and with a big kick I sent him back.
He got up and took his helmet off and my eyebrows shot up. “Aren’t you the Prince of Wakanda?” I asked and he frowned. “Yes, I am. And who are you?” He walked closer. “I’m Y/N Stark. I’m part of the Avengers.” His face dropped and looked where Klaue had been laying a couple of minutes ago. “I blew that up, didn’t I?” He asked and I spread my arms. “Yeah, kinda. This was the first time in 6 months that we had eyes on him, so thanks for that. Why did you even stop me?” I asked frustratingly. He seemed like he didn’t know the answer either. “I’m sorry, I thought you were with him.” “Y/N I think we found the person he’s supplying, you’re not gonna like this,” heard Sam over the comms. “Yeah, and I bumped into the Wankandan Prince. I’ll be there in a second,” I said then turned to the Prince. “If you’re after him, come with me,” I said and he nodded.
“So what is this cat thing? Are like a… Cat-Man?” I asked, not really sure what he was supposed to symbolize. “I’m the Black Panther. It’s been the protector of Wakanda for centuries, once I become king I’ll be the official Black Panther.” He explained. “Right and what’s your name?” “I’m T’Challa.”
Once we got up to where the team was I explained what happened and Natasha wasn’t happy at all to lose Klaue. “I can help you find Klaue if you hand over all the Vibranium you found so far. It belongs to Wakanda,” T’Challa said and Nat looked at me questioning if he was trustworthy. “That’ll work. Sam, what did you find?” I asked and he handed me some files. “Hadria Folks. She has an army of super soldiers with Vibranium armor. Klaue has been supplying her for the last 3 months,” he explained as I looked through the pictures of the armor and the amount of Vibranium she got her hands on. I looked at T’Challa and handed him the papers. “You’ve got a bigger problem than just stolen Vibranium.” He looked at the information splattered on the files and he glanced at me with a weird look. “Send your team home, you three come with me back to Wakanda, we’ll get to Klaue that way.”
We made our way to the Quinjet and I tapped Sam’s shoulder. “Take the files back to the Compound and look her up. We need every information we have on her. And look up this Black Panther guy too just to be sure,” I said and he sighed. “Why can’t I go with you? Wakanda must be so cool,” he whined and I chuckled. “You’ll get there, Wilson.”
Natasha and I followed T’Challa to his plane which looked very cool. “How did you lose Klaue?” Asked Natasha. “This guy jumped on me and when I got back up he was gone. I really hope he can get us to Klaue because if not I’m gonna be very angry.”
We got the plane and the technology was very advanced. It looked amazing. I stepped one step closer to a sand table and suddenly a blade was by my neck then I heard a gun being held up by someone. “I wouldn’t do that,” Natasha spoke and I carefully looked to my side to see the woman who was holding a long spear. I guess Natasha was holding a gun at her. “Okoye, they’re Avengers, lower your weapon,” T’Challa spoke and she took a look between Nat and I then pulled back the spear. I looked at Natasha and glanced at her gun, signaling that she should withdraw too. “Okoye, this is Y/n Stark and Natasha Romanoff. Ladies, this is Okoye, the commander of the Dora Milaje,” introduced us, the Prince. “Dora Milaje?” I asked. “Special forces of Wakanda,” said the woman with a straight and intense look.
Once we got off Natasha and I sat down, she still looked very unimpressed with the situation. “It’s gonna be fine, trust me,” I said to her and she just sighed, and I saw the look she gave me and it seemed she was trying to make an effort. “I trust you, not them,” said Natasha, and I put my hand on her thigh in a second, slightly squeezing. “Natalia, we know about Wakanda and they are trustworthy,” I explained and she looked at me with a tense expression. “She held a spear to your neck, Y/n.” “She didn’t know who we were.” Natasha sighed and leaned back in her seat. “I really hope you’re right.”
***
As soon as the jet landed T’Challa went ahead and then us two, Okoye followed behind. When we all reached the ground, I saw the King and Queen of Wakanda with two other women, one younger than all of us. “Baba,” he bowed slightly, then looked at us. “This is Y/n Stark and Natasha Romanoff, Avengers,” he said and we bowed too. “King T’Chaka, a pleasure to meet you,” I said and he nodded. “Likewise, welcome to Wakanda.” “Thank you, didn’t think this would be the reason for our first visit,” I said and he nodded. “Yes, it’s very unfortunate. In the meantime, this is my wife Ramonda, and my daughter, Shuri. And Nakia, member of the War Dogs, also the girlfriend of my son,” said the King, and T’Challa was quick to get flustered. “Now, I think we should get to work,” T’Challa said, trying to avoid the topic.
***
We made contact with Sam at the Compound and as he was on video call with us, we saw all the information on Klaue from what T’Challa and the others had so far. “We unintentionally found one of Klaue’s hiding places around six months ago. He had a full cabinet of Vibranium but we didn’t know who he was at the time. Then we went after him and retrieved over 100 million dollars worth of Vibranium in the last six months. And today was our first time locating such a big amount that led us to Klaue. Then we found out why he needs this much. Sam, what did you find?” I looked at him on the screen and the next second he sent over everything on the bigger screen in the room. “Hadria Folks, ex-KGB. She has approximately 15 super soldiers with Vibranium armor and weapons. There were multiple attacks in Europe, but nobody got them in time. Police can’t handle them obviously and Folks haven’t been seen in 2 months. Her station is said to be in Siberia, a familiar place, don’t you think?” Sam said and I looked at him immediately. “He’s not there,” I said, crossing my arms. “Who’s not there?” Asked Nakia and I just kept staring at the screen. “Another super soldier, he was a Hydra weapon until we got him and now he is hiding, keeping himself off the radar. Maybe he could help us,” I said and Sam interfered quickly. “We couldn’t locate him for a while now, how are we planning to do this?” He asked. “You haven’t been able to locate him. He sent me a letter about two weeks ago, saying he was in Romania. He’ll know where to find her. Nat and I will go to Romania, get Barnes and you find Klaue. I’ll get you all the Vibranium we retrieved. Are you familiar with super soldiers?” I turned to the Wakandans. Shuri typed it into her computer then multiple images came up on the screen. One particular picture is of James. “Captain America is one of them, right?” Asked Nakia. “Yes.” “Why not get him involved with this?” T’Challa suggested. “He’s got other stuff to deal with. And besides, I think we’ll be just fine doing this.”
After some discussion, they flew us back to the Compound and I was ready to go home. I really thought that this could be a promising opportunity for us to get more allies and maybe get James out of hiding.
“When will you pick up Rina?” Walked into my office Natasha but stopped at the door. “Dad picked her up already. I asked him and Pepper to watch her for a while. I don’t know how long this thing will last,” I explained and packed up all my stuff, ready to leave. “So, you’ll be alone?” She asked with a gentle but clearly seductive tone. My eyes lifted in her and the smirk on her face was undeniable. I began to walk past her and before I stepped out of the room, I looked her up and down. “Care to join?” Natasha didn’t answer, she just grabbed onto my hand and kissed me on the lips. “Great choice.”

Shuri Angst HCS
It’s been long enough, and I haven’t feed y’all with anything😭 so here are just some silly HCs I thought of, I honestly enjoy angst very gery much. Even though im not really supposed to. I just feel like there isn’t that many stories or HCs that talk about what she’d do when T’Challa passed. And I honestly lowkey like reading angst, there’s just something about it😮💨 but yea Lmk if y’all want a part 2!
Mentions‼️: SH, attempts of suicide, depression, eating disorder, ADHD (not sure if I missed anything else)
Tags gng: @neptoons1998 @s0lam3y @mal-urameshi
(Most of these are connected which would most likely be under it or would be somewhere!)
-After T’Challas death she took sleeping pills because without she’d end up laying thinking about him. She also tried to take them when her mother died. But they don’t work due to the herb.
-would draw T’Challa all the time, and even thought about tattooing a sketch she did of him on herself
-T’Challa always smelled good, so when shuri found a shirt that she had stolen from T’Challa, she began to cry uncontrollably because it didn’t smell like him anymore
-shuri began to isolate herself so everything could hurt a lot less. Especially after her mothers death.
-After Ramonda told she T’Challa passed Shuri ran to the table and shouted out at him. Telling him to wake up, but was held back by 5 Dora’s including Ayo and Okoye because she was “disturbing” his peace.
-When Shuri began to think less of brother she slowly forgot what he looked like.
-Never got to say a finale goodbye to T’Challa
-Locked only herself in her lab for an entire month with no food or water as a form of punishment
-Every day for the month Okoye, Ayo, Aneka, M’baku, and the Dora army would try to open her lab
- Once they were able to open it they found her on the ground on the verge of death. She was very skinny and lacked a lot of sleep and energy.
-Everytime someone would try to get her to talk about her feelings she’d blast her music till they sounded on mute
-One of the main reasons why she made earrings, was to be able to ignore people with her music
- Her last words to T’Challa was “Shut up! Can you stop apologizing and saying that I can’t do anything anymore? You’re not going to die, I won’t let you!”
-Everytime Aneka found her having a breakdown she’d called the lab and told griot to lock it for the day so she’d grief properly
-but she would always find a way to go to her lab
-Hallucinated about T’Challa during the day in her lab, and would do the talking for him. She’d often do their handshake that they’d do
-Her lab members would look at eachother knowing that itd be best if they left. Because it would normally end off with Shuri realizing he wasn’t there and she’d get mad
- Always always had eye bags even before his death but it wouldn’t be as noticeable till he did pass away. From afar you could be able to see them, and would think that they weighed a ton.
-Because Shuri would always pull pranks on T’Challa, he’d return them but they’d be a little too much. So when she was shouting out to him on the table, she shouted out “Get up, I don’t like this prank. Please”
- Would make the things T’Challa would ask her even if they were dumb like a some figurines T’Challa liked from movies.
- Sometimes while working if she’s in a bad mood she would often break her pencils or supplies due to the grip/strength she would hold them at
- She left Nakia short, but harsh and cold voicemails the first 2 times she tried reaching out to her. And would ignore the other voicemails
- Sometimes for the fun of it she’d answer the calls and would quickly end it
- Changed her wardrobe because T’Challa really liked Shuri’s style (it was a mix of American style and his style) but at the end she just dressed up likeT’Challa.
- Completely destroyed the outfit that we saw at the beginning of BPWF because it reminded her that it was her fault for his death
- Always late at events because she’d spend so much time in her lab she’d forget what day it was
- She would yell at everyone if they bothered her or reminded her to eat while she was working
- Had mood swings
- She would often fidget with her pen or anything she had near her.
- Would randomly get the most horrifying sickening nightmares or visions/flashbacks about T’Challa. And would act like nothing ever happened
- every time she’d try to sleep she always get nightmares
- Some nightmare,vision/ flashbacks she’d be most afraid was 1. Her being T’Challa’s lifeless body on the table with her screaming to to wake up. 2nd, Falling in pitch black and she’d be surrounded by everyone blaming her for not saving T’challa. 3rd, Her having the best percentage of the herb to save him, but before she could make her to him, there was something keeping her away from giving it to him so she watched him die
- Had sleep paralysis for the first time. It happened during the dream where she’d be T’Challa on the table lifeless while seeing herself shouting at him
- Her sleep paralysis demon would be her family(including Nakia, Okoye, M’baku, Ayo, and Angela) mumbling about how she was a failure
- Tried unaliving her self countless times but was either caught or stopped herself thinking that what would everyone feel like after she did. And how would she help Wakanda from invaders
- she survived her first and last attempt but was caught on her other attempts
- She would SH. And would use raw vibranium to burn herself. So she has burn marks from raw vibranium and scars all over her body
-She skipped her meals every day so Ramonda would watch Shuri eat or send Okoye or Aneka or Ayo to do it
- She would often freeze and begin to uncontrollably shake while having visions when she’d remember T’Challa in some type of way.

Summary: The team lose their friend (I’m bad at summaries sorry)
Word count: 751
Warnings: fluffy (my attempt at it anyway), mention of suicide. there’s a bit in the fic that is most definitely wrong by law but just go with it okay? Okay. the last chapter
A/N: I’m really sorry this is short. This weekend hasn’t been the greatest so…anyways sorry if it’s shit but I genuinely don’t have the energy to do anymore. I do hope you enjoy it though and thank you to everyone who’s commented, liked and reblogged each chapter it truly means the world🤍
Masterlist Series Masterlist
It’s been three years since Y/n and Bucky left hand in hand for Wakanda. The first nine months they were there was pretty hectic.
Shuri got her prepped and ready for the deprogramming, which didn’t take as long as Bucky’s. When she was clear of her trigger words that Bucky had read out, just like she read his all them years ago.
Steve let Bucky know that the President had been arrested for his role at Hydra, just after he was arrested he committed suicide. His name was still tarnished and the whole world knew what he had done.
Y/n made sure that his mistress, the mother of his unborn child, Alisha Grey and Baby Grey’s bodies were found and given a proper burial, right next to where her grave lays.
The new President gave Y/n a full pardon and gave her the Presidential Medal of Freedom medal. Stating on national television that Y/n L/n was never a traitor but a hero. A hero that had been saving people’s lives since she was 16 years old and that’s what she should be always known and remembered for. A hero.
The bosses and agents of SHIELD were all fired for what they did to her. Some were even arrested and sent to prison.
The warden of the Raft was arrested and sent to prison for endangering life that he was in charge of and for abuse and neglect, as well as profiting from assaults. He got 20 years.
Hydra had finally been shut down completely, all agents arrested and charged to with life imprisonment.
Y/n and Bucky’s relationship started. After she was given the all clear Bucky didn’t waste a single millisecond to kiss her. Kissing her like his life depended upon it right in front of T’Challa, Shuri, Nakia and Okoye - who all cheered and clapped.
When the time came for them to go back to their other home, Bucky tried to convince her to stay-
“Doll we have a life here, we’re safe”
“But… then that means we’ll have a normal life”
“And?”
“I-I don’t know how to live a life that’s normal Buck, all my life I’ve been trained to fight from one fight to the next…”
“I know, and my love you’re not alone. I’m right here with you. We’ll do it together I promise living a normal life scares me too but we can continue to be happy here”
She hesitated, what he was saying was true and she knew that. Though she did have to admit she took to farming rather quickly, naming all their goats after members of the team and the bull they had after Fury. She also did enjoy helping out on the markets, bouncing from stall to stall. Loved helping the children with schoolwork and keeping them busy by playing with them when their parents were busy or tired. She especially loved the day she delivered a beautiful baby girl - bless Bucky’s heart he had to hear about it every day for nearly two weeks, in full detail.
She loved the feeling of being free. Free from the pain and suffering she either saw or went through. Free from one order to the next. Free to finally be herself.
But even if she did love that feeling she was terrified off it, what she had told Bucky wasn’t wrong, all of her life the only thing she knew what to do was to fight and to survive.
Wakanda was her home from the minute she stepped foot in the country many years ago, and with Bucky by her side she knew everything was okay, right?
“Okay…”
“Okay?”
“Okay we can stay” Bucky picked her up and spun her around until he lost his footing making them fall to the ground, it didn’t stop him from placing kisses upon kisses to her face.
The team understood when Bucky and Y/n told them that they was retiring, nor was they surprised by the two’s relationship.
One by one the team followed suit and retired too, all being welcomed openly by King T’Challa and the people of Wakanda.
Each and everyone of them had found happiness.
It’s now the 9th of March 2026, time currently is 11:54pm, their whole family is waiting outside the couples home wincing at hearing Y/n’s screams.
The clock strikes 12:01 and all is heard is the cries of a baby.
Bucky runs out a few minutes later with tears streaming down his face.
“It’s a boy!”

Stars Aglow Ch. 4 || Okoye x Attuma
A Sea of Stars ~ Part 3 of 3
Ch. 1 • Ch. 2 • Ch. 3
Warnings: An Excessive Amount of Fluff, Talk of Marriage

Okoye smothered a laugh with her hand, studiously avoiding Nakia’s eyes as they watched Toussaint peer cautiously over the oversized crib the triplets slept in. T’Challa’s son stood on his toes, glancing back and forth between Okoye and her children skeptically. His face was twisted into the most adorable of frowns, and she nearly lost the fight to keep her composure when the boy turned to them with an aggrieved sigh.
“They’re very small, umakazi. And they’re sleeping again,” T’Challa whispered— or at least, attempted to as he stepped into the space between her legs.
Okoye hugged her precious nephew, trying to quell the laughter bubbling in her chest at his decidedly underwhelmed expression. Junior had waited an eternity (nearly three weeks) to meet the triplets, and Okoye feared the three small infants (who did very little but sleep and eat) hadn’t quite lived up to his expectations.
“I know they are, sweet boy. But they will grow; you have to give them time,” she consoled with a chuckle. “They’ve only just arrived, you know.”
He returned her embrace, sinking into her arms and sighing again. “Can I still teach them Go Fish?”
“Probably not anytime soon, ingwe enci. But when they are old enough, I’m sure they would love to learn.” Okoye lifted T’Challa into her lap, relishing the ability to hold him close without the barrier of her belly. “You will be the first cousin they know, the one they love the most. You’ll be their best friend and greatest protector, and when the time comes, I’m sure you will be the best Go Fish teacher in all of Wakanda.”
Her nephew grinned at that, chest puffing out proudly. “I will teach them Go Fish when I am–,” he paused, counting quietly to himself, “ten!” he announced, holding out both hands, fingers splayed. “I’ll know other stuff then, too, so I can teach them lots.”
“Indeed you will, chan baláam.” Attuma’s voice sounded from the doorway of the nursery, drawing both of their attention. He and Namora stepped into the large room, both still damp from escorting Ixtli and the Talokanil nursing team to the eastern side of the Continent for the journey home.
Toussaint wriggled from Okoye’s lap and greeted them with exclamations of joy, only looking a little abashed when Nakia reminded him to keep his voice down. Nonetheless, he took a running leap toward Attuma and giggled when he was caught and hoisted onto her beloved’s waist. Attuma received an affectionate forehead press and Namora, a series of salutes followed by an enthusiastic high-five.
Her nephew touched Attuma’s hair, taking in his and Namora’s damp appearance, and scolded them in a loud whisper. “You’re still wet, Uncle Tuna! You and Nacomora need to use the dryer better.”
His face and countenance were so serious that Okoye lost the battle with her laughter at Nakia’s unrestrained snort, the mangled combination of Namora’s title and name sending them into a fit of hushed giggles. It didn’t help that Namora refused to correct him. She claimed it was a blessing from her chan aj baláam and even prohibited them from correcting him.
Indulging T’Challa was a crime they were all guilty of, and Okoye could already tell it would be the same, if not worse, with her children.
Her giggles tapered off, and she shook her head at her sister as Attuma set Toussaint down, crouching before the boy and solemnly promising to use the dryers better next time. Her nephew beamed at him, offering his littlest finger and extracting a pinky promise from his uncle before darting across the room to his mother, pestering her for the cashews she was snacking on.
Attuma rose with a quiet chuckle and crossed the room, stopping at her side and dropping a kiss on her head. Reaching up, Okoye pushed his hair out of his face and pressed their foreheads together. He’d been gone for less than an hour, but she’d missed him like it’d been days. They hadn’t been apart since the triplets were born, and if this was how she felt now, Okoye dreaded to think of what she would feel when he went back to work.
That wouldn’t be anytime soon, of course, so she put the thought out of her mind and tilted her chin up, kissing the corner of his mouth. Attuma turned his head and caught her lips in a brief kiss, and she gave a quiet hum.
“Ts'o'ok u taktal in wilech xan, in yakunaj [I missed you too, my love],” he whispered against her lips, kissing her quickly again.
Okoye offered him a soft smile as he drew back and settled into the reclining rocking chair beside her, then turned to Namora. “Did Ixtli and the team get out okay?”
“Chaac has blessed the winds and the waters are calm; their journey home should be swift,” The Talokanil general replied, softening her voice as she neared the crib. She reached a careful hand in and traced the pattern on the edge of B’atz’s blanket, smiling down at her godson.
“Good, I’m glad to hear it.” Okoye said sincerely. “We’ll miss them— Ixtli especially. Please thank her again for me, for us.” She would always be grateful to the iyom k’exelom for helping her bring three children safely into the world. She and the Talokanil nurses had made a world of difference in the delivery room and helped immensely in the week of bed rest she’d been mandated to afterward.
Namora gave the slightest nod of acknowledgment, eyes fixed on B’atz, gazing down at the sleeping infant with pure adoration. The Talokanil general loved all the triplets, but Okoye knew her secondborn already held a special place in her heart. Shuri and Ayo were the same with T’Khwezi and Ixazaluoh, and between their grandparents and godparents, Okoye could proudly say her children were well loved.
“I don’t think she heard you, diosa. Her ears have gone, along with her head,” Attuma quietly teased his fellow general. He leaned close with a smirk and interwove their fingers. “You could not have known, of course, but babies are one of Namora’s greatest weaknesses.” Okoye snickered at his antics as her beloved gave a heavy sigh and a solemn shake of his head. “I fear our formidable Yeh Kaaye’ Nacom has gone k’iinich [sun-eyed].”
The Lionfish turned to Attuma with a glare as venomous as her way and arched a sharp brow at him. “You have little depth to tread, Uncle Tuna,” Namora spat back playfully. She leaned back on the railing of the crib and crossed her arms.“You’ve been k’iinich since a K’iino [your Sun] buried her foot in your chest.”
Attuma let out a garbled sound of protest, trying to deny it, but Namora pressed on, shooting Okoye a conspiratorial glance. “His head has been full of ja'páak'alo' [seaweed] since he hit the water. I fear our mighty Xook Nacom hasn’t been the same since,” she finished, flashing her beloved a triumphant smile.
The petulant look Attuma sent in Namora’s direction caused Okoye to snort gracelessly, drawing chuckles from Nakia and Namora. Their amusement was only intensified by her mother entering the nursery with a bewildered reprimand clear on her face for their somewhat raucous behavior. Her stern expression nearly caused Nakia to choke on the cashews she’d been snacking on, and Okoye’s attempts to explain sent them back into fits of uncontrollable laughter, their mouths covered in failing attempts to keep quiet.
Okoye blew out a shaky breath as their laughs faded, wiping tears from the corners of her eyes. Bast as her witness, she couldn’t remember if she’d ever been this happy. Here, in this blissful bubble where smiles didn’t cease and laughter came easier than breathing, there was only joy. She was surrounded by more love now than she’d ever known, and her heart sang.
“I leave for 10 minutes and come back to a pack of cackling hyenas,” her mother scolded, hands on her hips.
Okoye smiled at the newly minted grandmother’s unimpressed glare. “Jokes are meant to be laughed at, mama,” she replied.
“Keep it up, and you’ll have more than just me to contend with,” the matriarch said, shaking her head, but the mirth in her eyes gave her away.
Okoye pressed her lips together to smother the last bout of giggles that threatened to escape, and she looked over to the crib where her babies slept, blissfully unaware of the lively chaos surrounding them. Namora’s attention had returned to the trio as well, and she reached her hand in again, thumbing the edge of Ixazaluoh’s blanket this time as Okoye’s youngest grizzled in her sleep.
The Lionfish hummed, smile dimming slightly, and she cleared her throat, glancing back at Okoye. “K’uk’ulkan has also sent word— he plans to be here by the afternoon.”
Okoye couldn’t hide her wince at the words, feeling the giddy atmosphere dissipate abruptly at the mention of the Talokanil king. She cast a fretful glance toward her mother, and the matriarch scoffed as if on cue.
“He plans?” came the scathing question, her voice pitching along with her brow. “Did he ask?”
“Mama, nceda,” she pled, seeing Namora stiffen and hearing Nakia sigh. “Ndiqinisekile ukuba unqwenela ukudibana nabantwana. [I’m sure he just wishes to meet the children.]”
“Iminqweno yakhe ichitha iimbeko ezilula ngoku, hm? [His wishes overrule simple courtesies now, hm?]” Her mother retorted with a disbelieving huff, drawing a pointed hum from Nakia.
Okoye shot her sister a chiding look, and the woman shrugged, popping another cashew into her mouth. Nakia wasn’t an avid fan of K’uk’ulkan either, but they both knew her mother needed no aid in expressing her discontent. She turned to her mother, silently imploring her to choose peace. The woman kissed her teeth in response and gave a dismissive wave of her hand, agreeing to be civil for the time being. Resisting the urge to roll her eyes, she shook her head and muttered a quick prayer, asking Bast for patience.
“Did he send word on how long he plans to stay?” she asked, turning back to Namora, who’d tuned them out, murmuring quiet words over the triplets instead. A dazed, questioning hum came in response, and Okoye elaborated. “I know M’Baku won’t mind, but Ayo certainly will.”
The Talokanil woman blinked as she considered the question, and then her eyes widened almost comically.
Okoye bit back a snort at her friend’s distressed expression. “I’m sure it’s fine. The guest chambers likely won’t need much preparation, and Nakia can go with you so she can assist the General with security protocols.” Her sister stopped mid-cashew, gaze narrowing at her, and Okoye smiled blithely.
“Well, I suppose I’ve been given my marching orders,” Nakia huffed with a roll of her eyes. She unfolded her legs and stood, passing the rest of her snack to Toussaint. “Come, Nacom. Let’s pray to Bast and Chaac that the General is in a gracious mood this morning.”
Okoye chuckled at the pained expression that crossed Namora’s face as they left the room. “You can always bribe her with baby cuddles,” she called after them, snickering when Nakia kissed her teeth in response.
Hearing Ixazaluoh grunt softly, she glanced at the clock. If the pattern established in these first two weeks held true, they would all wake soon, and her youngest would wake first— loudly. She turned her head and found Attuma already standing and smiled as he leaned close, bracing his hands on the armrests of her chair.
“Any requests for your midday snack, na' in paalal? Fruit? Yogurt? One of your snack bowls, perhaps?”
“Can you check and see if we have more of those protein balls your mother made?” She cupped his cheeks and made her requests known through a series of chaste kisses against his lips. “The peanut butter and date ones?” A few more kisses because she couldn’t resist the smile in his eyes. “Maybe a cup of yogurt, too?”
“Bix in yaakunaj ku k'áatik,” he whispered in reply, kissing her soundly before beckoning Junior to come with him as they went to raid the kitchen for more snacks.
Okoye rose from her seat, briefly meeting her mother’s knowing stare before rolling her eyes. “Don’t start…”
“Eh? Start what, intomba?”
Her mother’s attempt at innocence was laughable, and Okoye snickered accordingly as she crossed behind the elder woman.
“He’s a good man, Okoye,” she said, putting her hands on her hips and fixing her mother with the same earnest expression she’d been hit with far too often in the past few months, “He’s already an excellent father. Why not make him your husband?”
Her mother harrumphed at the imitation and mirrored Okoye’s stance. “And why should you not?” she whispered exasperatedly. “Aside from the fact you’re both singularly devoted to one another and have three reasons to remain so, that man worships the very ground you walk on. Every day I become more convinced he believes the Sun rises and sets at your behest. And no matter what you are determined to call it, the two of you are certainly not ‘co-parenting’.”
She spat the word with such derision that Okoye couldn’t help but shake her head. Sighing, she scooped her own daughter from between her brothers, hushing her gently with sweet kisses to round cheeks. They’d had this conversation no less than ten times and would likely have it ten more until Okoye acquiesced— out loud.
She already knew she was going to marry Attuma. She’d known even while she was pregnant. There’d been no moment of grand revelation or wonder, just a deep ease— something quiet and sure that settled over her while she’d lain in the cradle of his arms after one of their countless hammock naps. There, in the afternoon sun, the pieces of it, of them, fell together seamlessly.
They’d be married next spring, just after the children’s first birthday. She’d wear blue, but not the blue of the Border. His blue. Attuma would wear white, as was Talokanil custom, and the children would wear a mix of both. Tradition also required they wed where land and sea met, and for that, Okoye could see no better place than Warrior Falls. It was fitting, and in some roundabout way, it would heal something in her she hadn’t quite found solace for yet. They’d create a new memory there, a better one. Yoltzin and her mother would watch the triplets, Nakia and Ayo would be her matrons of honor, and the Muscle Brain would escort her bridal procession. And she’d have henna this time. Maybe Mayan glyphs instead of the traditional patterns.
But the details weren’t so important as the man, and the man was perfect.
Her mother’s insistent murmurings broke her from her idyllic reverie as she bustled around the room, grabbing Okoye’s support pillow and a few burping cloths while she pressed forward on her mission to secure herself a son-in-law. “I’m simply saying–”
“–as you’ve been saying–” Okoye mused, settling back into the rocking recliner and unfastening Ixazaluoh’s swaddling blanket with deft fingers.
“–as I’ve been saying…” the matriarch looked ready to swat her with one of the burping cloths. “He would be an excellent husband. He will be an excellent husband. And you wouldn’t even be doing it just for you! Wouldn’t you like to give your mother a son-in-law? A good son-in-law?”
“Have I not just given you grandchildren?” Okoye asked in false exasperation. “Three grandchildren?” she added before her mother could protest. “Let’s adjust to them first, eh? Then, we can talk son-in-laws.”
Her mother huffed in acceptance as she stepped closer and helped Okoye arrange the baby and the support pillow for both their comfort. Ixazaluoh’s eyes blinked open slowly as she settled into Okoye’s arms. The depth of their color hadn’t fully settled yet, but they were dark and hooded, just like her brothers— just like Attuma’s. Her daughter huffed, face almost immediately scrunching into a frown, and her mother chuckled above them.
She lifted her youngest from her swaddle and kissed her a few more times. “Good afternoon, intombi yam,” she whispered soft words against soft skin, “Your brothers are sleeping. Let’s not wake them just yet, hm?”
Ixazaluoh paid her no mind, nuzzling into Okoye’s shoulder with soft grunts. Patient was not an apt descriptor for their youngest; cuddles would come after food.
Okoye balanced her daughter in one arm while undoing her dress with the other. Her mother kissed the side of her head, then Ixazaluoh’s, before excusing herself to go find Attuma and Toussaint. She nodded absently, repositioning Ixazaluoh, cradling her against her left breast and helping her latch before her sweet girl kicked up too much of a fuss. Okoye traced the ridge of her brow, lowly humming that same lullaby from her pregnancy. The soft woosh of the door sliding open alerted her to Attuma’s return, and she glanced up, smiling at the overflowing tray of snacks he carried.
“I see she wasted no time,” her beloved said with a chuckle, setting down the tray on the small table between their chairs.
“Does she ever?” Okoye replied, echoing his amusement.
Attuma retook his seat and held out the cup of the peanut butter and date balls she’d asked for. She popped one into her mouth and smiled, humming in pure contentment. The man she loved smiled back, wide and warm, and Okoye never wanted to be anywhere else but here.
With him and their children.
In this space.
In this time.
She couldn’t have prayed for anything better.

— ms. clumsy
pairings : shuri x black!reader
warnings : gets a lil suggestive, terribly corny 😕
summary : shuri has a huge crush on the reader, and it’s blatantly obvious. one example of this is how clumsy and flustered she gets whenever you walk into the room. this is based off a post i saw comparing shuri and the reader to naveen and tiana from the princess and the frog, where naveen was able to flirt with any and everyone with ease but when it came to tiana, he choked up.
“whatcha workin’ on, ms. udaku?” was the sentence that made shuri jump and almost drop her tool. she turned around to find you standing behind her with your hands behind your back. “just- uh- just working on okoye’s midnight angel suit.”
it didn’t take long for you to notice her clumsiness whenever you were around. you noticed the signs a long time ago; the stuttering, the flushed look on her face, her eyes dilating just a little whenever she looked at you.
you knew shuri udaku had a crush on you, and you didn’t mind not one bit because you felt the exact same way.
you let out a giggle at her being so nervous. it was cute to watch, having someone that held so much confidence and have so many girls buckle their knees be so flustered around lil’ ol’ you.
“can i watch?” you asked sweetly. shuri didn’t stop to think about the consequences of this, she just didn’t want you to leave. “of- of course” she looked around and saw that there wasn’t anywhere for you to sit. “i’ll pull up a chair for you.”oh, you don’t have to do that. i got it.”
shuri looked up at you with her eyebrows raised slightly. you’d heard about t’challa and nakia, the way he would freeze whenever he was around her. is this what they meant? because shuri looked like an antelope in headlights.
she stood there, rendered speechless. “shuri?” you spoke softly. saying her name seemed to do it, because she came back to reality, blinking and blushing.
you gave a sweet, sweet smile and touched her arm gently. “you’re cute when you’re flustered, ms. udaku.” you told her, going to grab a chair. shuri watched you get the chair while she prayed and prayed you couldn’t hear her heartbeat, because it was just about to come out of her chest and run to you with no hesitation.
you watched shuri intently as she worked, asking questions here and there. it was another thing you noticed; her loss of focus. your knee touched hers and it was like she was frozen. before you made yourself known, you watched her work diligently all focus on the midnight angel suit. her fingers worked like you’ve never seen before, perfecting the machinery.
it was another thing you loved about shuri.
beside you, shuri was a fumbling mess.
every time you asked a question, she’d answer with a stutter and would refuse to look at you in the eye in fear that you were too close, and one thing would lead to another..
“so,” she finally breathed out, “why did you come down here?” it was the first time since you sat down with her that she looked up at you, and her heart almost stopped.
you were so close. and you looked so pretty. shuri’s eyes trailed down to your glossed over lips — they looked so inviting, just waiting to put hers on them.
her breathing picked up and it didn’t go unnoticed by you. your heart rate picked up and shuri could hear it. you had to stop yourself from kissing her, stop yourself from just holding her perfectly sculpted jaw and putting your lips on hers.
“i just..” you barely whispered, “i wanted to see my favorite girl.” you moved your eyes up to the scientist. your body started moving on it’s own, hand going to touch shuri’s face but you hesitated. “i’m your favorite girl?” she repeated quietly. “‘course you are.”
it was silent, only the sound of breathing filled the space. then, shuri did something that surprised the both of you — she kissed you first. your eyebrows shot up in shock, but you quickly reciprocated the thing you craved most. butterflies erupted in your stomach, and it felt like bells were going off. your heart pounded in your chest, as did shuri’s.
you smiled into the kiss and your heart filled with joy and contentment as you did. heavy breathing started, and hands flew to wherever they desired; shuri’s to your waist, yours to her face. hearts were poured into the kiss along with long months of yearning. she handled you so gently, so delicately as if you were the most precious thing in the world.
it was a while before you two finally separated for air. shuri was sure she had hearts in her eyes as she looked at you. your lips were kiss swollen, eyes blown wide and a stupid smile on your face. shuri slowly formed a smile herself.
“can’t believe you made the first move, udaku.”

#1
[MONDAY AFTERNOON]
Her smooth silk brown skin glistens
under the sunlit illuminated windows
as the water trickles
down her broad shoulders
to her god-crafted muscles,
flexing with every step they take
ever
so
slightly
out the pool.
Their chest heaving,
a slightly tired
yet heavy gaze
as they skim around the room at their peers,
eyes landing on one particular figure
with a similar look in their eye.
Her stoic demeanor is slowly replaced
with a playful smirk as she eyes...
wait…
SHE’S LOOKING AT ME-
SHIT!
Shuri snaps out of her internal monologue, jumping from the huge glass that peered into the school’s aquatic center, and quickly bolts through the double doors that lead to the hallway. When she’s out of sight, she slumps over, catching her breath. “Wow, Ms. Nakia would have either granted me an A+ or sent me to the principal’s office with the type of words I was thinking,” Shuri chuckles to herself.
After a brief pause at her words, her face heats up as she quickly facepalms in shame.
“What the hell am I saying?”
Reluctant, she trudges down the hall in embarrassment, making her way to the place she considered her third home: the science building computer lab (her second home was chemistry lab 2b).
In there resides Peter Parker and Ned Leeds, sitting around a desktop clicking away at some first-person shooter game, with an unwavering MJ Watson sitting a couple of seats away from the boisterous boys, head in a book per the usual. All three teens lined up in typical geeky fashion. Shuri slumps her book bag over a computer table, the sudden noise breaking the immersion of the boys who then looked up from their game, spotting the presence of their purple-clad friend.
“Dude, what have you been doing all this time?” Ned scowls. “We didn’t have any clubs today and we’ve been waiting for you for the past twenty minutes to walk to that new milk tea cafe MJ’s been telling us about.”
Not lifting her head from her book, MJ snarkily remarks, “She’s probably been too busy ogling the crap out of that poor girl over at the aqua center.”
Shuri’s face heats up as she’s quick to defend herself. “Cut it out! Of course I wasn’t!”
MJ smirks, still not looking up from her book. “Sorry, lemme rephrase that better: she’s probably been too busy eye fucking the crap out of that poor girl over at the aqua center.” Blood rushes through Shuri’s cheeks as she sputters incompressible excuses from her mouth, MJ giggling at her discomposure from her book.
“You’re such a mess, Shuri! When are you gonna finally buckle down and rizz her up– or at least go up and talk to the girl instead of borderline stalking her almost every afternoon?” Peter playfully pokes the purple-clad.
Shuri sucks her teeth, swatting him away. “One: the word ‘rizz’ sounds extremely uncanny coming out of your mouth. Please refrain from using that word around me again.”
Collective snorts bounce off the embarrassed white teen whose shit-eating grin twists into a poker face.
“Two: I don’t eye Y/N almost every afternoon.” Shuri pshaws and waves everyone off.
“Oh, my bad!'' Peter dramatically gasps, slapping a hand over his chest. “It’s every morning, lunch break, assembly, dinner break, class transition, and EVERY afternoon.” Collective snickers break out as Shuri backhands Peter, not harshly, but hard enough to derive a strained “ack!” out of him.
“But seriously, Shuri, it’s about time you try and get this girl’s number.” MJ goes on, finally looking up from her book and putting it on the table spine up. “It’s no use for you to keep on hopelessly pining after this girl from afar and not putting in the effort to actually pursue her.” Shuri slumps into a chair and releases an exasperated sigh.
“I do, but what would a versatile and talented girl want with a one-trick pony nerd like me?” MJ visibly cringes at the purple-clad’s words. “Ewww man, this isn’t the 80s! We are NOT living in a Disney Channel sitcom. There’s a lot of people would go for somebody as smart and intelligent as you, you know that.”
“Yeah, maybe to do their homework for them,” Shuri retorts. MJ pauses. “Hmmm, now that claim, I won’t completely disagree with...” “MJ!” Ned dramatically gasps as he lightly slaps MJ on the shoulder.
“Don’t listen to her, Shuri. You are perfectly capable of winning Y/N over just the way you are.”
The purple-clad snickers. “Now THAT was something you could’ve sworn was straight out of a Disney Channel sitcom.”
About 15 minutes later, the eccentric group of teens close up the computer lab and continue down the hallways with milk tea on their minds… except for Shuri. She trails behind the bunch, head hung low, peeping at Y/N’s Instagram.
As her walking gets slower as she’s gaping at her phone, the coil-haired nerd brushes her shoulder against what she thinks is just a wall. She lifts her head to notice the shorter, dark, and gorgeous swimmer— the same one on her phone that she still had in open view.
“Oh! Whassup, Miss Shuri!” Y/N’s eyes light up as he greets the taller.
Shuri’s breath hitches at the lovely emphasis put on her name, blood running cold as she quickly checks her peripheral to make sure the gang wasn’t around to humiliate her more than she already was.
Meanwhile, the teens heard what was going on behind them, but chose to continue on their merry way, intentionally leaving the two alone in the middle of the hallway.
She looks back at the short athlete and returns the greeting with a bashful smile. “What brings you here, Y/N?” The nerd quickly asks in a desperate attempt to carry the conversation, forgetting that people don’t need a reason to just roam the halls, something she mentally facepalms herself for right after.
“Nothin’ much,” Y/N chuckles at Shuri’s nervous efforts. “I’m just coming out of my swim practice. Mr. Namor was runnin’ me dry today.”
The athlete pauses as if she’s recalling something, the corners of her mouth slowly curling into a knowing smirk.
“I saw you peeping me over at the center earlier,” she drawls, “figured you wanted to speak to me about somethin’?” The athlete’s tongue subtly swipes across her bottom lip, as she gazes up at Shuri with a particular look in her eye, irises occasionally shifting down to the open Instagram page still on her phone, waiting for an excuse.
It was enough for the poor nerd to melt into a puddle, knees buckle and collapse, and lay sprawled across the hallway floor right then and there, but luckily for her, she still possessed a pinch of dignity left within her. With fleeting composure, gripping her backpack strap with strain, Shuri gives a weak pshaw.
“Me? I was just passing by! I just really like watching the team…”
You…
“...practice.”
As Shuri desperately attempts to form more words that can potentially save her, her eyes flicker to a *very convenient* bulletin board behind the shorter athlete. There, plastered on the brown surface was a poster: “CALLING FOR NEW MEMBERS! Swim Team Tryouts This Thursday at 5 pm! Swim Your Way To Success!”
Oh, Bast…
“In fact, I’m thinking of trying out for the swim team myself,” the nerd straightens up and states proudly, hoping she masked the way she winced at her words.
Y/N, who was expecting a different answer, gapes at the helpless girl in slight shock. “Oh, for real? That’s crazy! I never pegged you as a swimmer, Shuri.”
The nerd’s mouth forms a goofy grin. “And why is that?” She dramatically slaps a hand on her chest. “Is it because I’m of the darker persuasion?”
This derives a hearty cackle out of the shorter athlete, Shuri’s stomach fluttering from the fact that she made the girl laugh.
“Negro, please,” Y/N catches his breath and straightens up. “It’s because… I mean…” The shorter athlete trails off, eyeing Shuri up and down, the nerd’s cheeks heating up in the act.
“You know what? Nevermind. I can’t blame you for wanting to try. Hell, I’ve been swimming since 4 years old, the feeling’s exhilarating.” Y/N sighs off into the distance, as Shuri internally gushes at the shorter athlete’s passion.
Suddenly she snaps out of her trance and backtracks on the words of the other girl.
“Can’t blame me for wanting to ‘try’? Are you still assuming I can’t swim?”
Y/N waves his hands in defense. “No! I’m just saying–”
“Well I’m GOING to try out, I’m GOING to swim like a pro, and I’m GOING to get on the team!”
After a brief pause at her sudden outburst of competitiveness, Shuri reels it back in with a small “...respectfully,” and a cheeky smile.
Amused at the nerd’s sudden wave of confidence, Y/N clasps their hands together in accord. “Sounds like a plan then! I guess I’ll be seeing you Thursday then.” The shorter athlete readjusts the duffle bag strap on her shoulder and starts to walk closer to Shuri, laying an encouraging, yet, knowing hand on the taller’s shoulder, and leans into her ear.
Shuri could have sworn she was imagining what was rasped next.
“Word of advice: work on that backstroke… I know I will.”
Y/N then pulls away with an innocent grin and brushes past the appalled nerd, continuing on their merry way, but to suddenly turn around to yell one last thing:
“And your phone’s still on!”
Frozen in place, the girl slowly peers down to her cellular (one she made the mistake of changing the display settings to go into sleep mode after 5 minutes) still on Y/N’s Instagram page.
Once the athlete was out of sight, Shuri’s knees buckled as she grips the nearest wall, releasing a sigh of relief, quickly washed over with a wave of anxiousness.
What have I got myself into?
#2
“Y’know a backstroke is a type of swim move, right?”
Riri chuckles at Shuri as she clicks away on her calculator, doing her homework on her bed. The young prodigy lifts her face from it being buried in her pillow and whines.
“But she said it so… sultry like… and her voice was so… raspy… it felt INTENTIONAL!”
“Or maybe your horny ass misconstrued her words and heard ‘backshots’ instead of ‘backstrokes’!” Riri giggled as Shuri proceeded to throw a pillow at the girl.
“Regardless, either word could be used as an innuendo, she did it on purpose,” Shuri retorts.
“Okay, okay, whatever. Sooo, what are you gonna do?”
Shuri flops back on her bed with a sigh. “I will try out for the swim team, like I said I would. I mean, she sounded so intrigued when I mentioned I was interested, and the passion in the way she speaks about it— I should at LEAST try.”
“Aww, I guess that’s fair,” Riri begins to coo. “If you knew how to swim.”
“Huh?”
“Shuri, I have never seen you TOUCH water unless it was for drinking or an experiment, let alone be EMERGED in water outside of taking showers and baths in it. We’ve had campus water activities and pool days before and each time you’ve said ‘I’m busy, I’m busy.’”
“Well I was, you know I have school work as my top priority.”
“We have them during school breaks, Shuri, you don’t work on a school break!”
Riri releases an exasperated sigh. “Shuri, can you swim or not?” The prodigy gives her friend a hesitant look. “I mean, I’m not the worst at it…”
“Shuri, just say you’re shit at swimming.”
“Fucking hate it.” Shuri blurts out. “Haven’t stepped foot into a pool since I was 6.”
“Damn it, Shuri!”
“You wanted me to be honest!”
Riri chuckles in disbelief, shaking her head. “That’s not even it, Shuri! Swim team try-outs are on Thursday, that’s in THREE DAYS! You barely know how to swim, what makes you think you’ll be ready within the next three days?”
“I’ll figure it out, okay?” Shuri stresses, trying to calm herself down. “I mean, you seem to know how to swim. Why don’t you teach me?”
“One: you dug this silly lil’ hole yourself,” Riri wags her finger at the prodigy, “I’m not helping you with shit. The most I’ll do is braid your hair back the night before so it can fit better in the swim cap you’ll have to put on. Two: I couldn’t teach you even if I wanted to because I wouldn’t have time, I’m stacked up on homework for the next few days.”
Shuri groans in her pillow, flopping back down on her bed once again. The young prodigy felt hopeless with no more ideas left… except for one last hope.
“No.”
“C’mon, brother! This is my love life on the line!”
T’Challa chuckles, crossing his arms. “You got yourself into this mess when you knew you couldn’t swim.” He raises is hands in defense. “You have a death wish, I am not helping you.”
“But that’s what Riri said!” Shuri whines.
“Well Riri is a good friend, keep her around. As for me, I have a gym to organize so I am going to continue what I was doing.” T’Challa does just that as he starts to pick up idle weights off the floor.
“I’ll pay you!”
“I have a job, and you’re a broke college student.”
“But with an internship!”
“An unpaid internship.”
“I’ll be your very best friend!”
“I’m your brother, and I already have plenty of friends.”
“Oh, like that old brute that works alongside you?”
“I heard that, you oversized midget!” A snarky coach M’baku scowls from the connected office.
“I’m 5’5!”
“And I’m 6’5, midget!”
Shuri rolls her eyes waves him off. “You work with that oversized man baby,” she sneers to T’Challa.
The older chuckles as he continues to tune out his sister’s persuasions while he tidies around the ring.
“Brother, please!” Shuri drops to her knees dramatically, rubbing her hands together in impatience. “I’m becoming desperate, I REALLY need your help!”
The younger continues to plead as the older man begins to cringe at the pathetic display, checking his peripheral to make sure she wasn’t causing a scene for unwarranted pedestrians that may walk past the gym.
“Okay okay, I will help you! Just stand up, PLEASE! You’re embarrassing me!” T’Challa quickly reassures the girl on the ground.
Shuri’s pleas quickly halt as she jumps to her feet, showering her brother with “thank you”s.
“Ahh, don’t thank me yet,” the older waves the girl off. “And I’m only going to be RE teaching you the basics. Any extra stunts you want to pull for your little girlfriend besides that will be on your accord.”
“Deal,” Shuri clasps her hands together.
“Now will you please leave me be? I have a gym to attend to.”
“Whatever,” Shuri remarks as she starts to head for the exit, “But just know I will be at the gym pool, bright eyed and bushy tailed tomorrow morning!”
The girl slaps the doorway wall and points at her brother, who both chuckles and cringes at her enthusiasm.
Once the bubbly teen was out of sight, M’baku wheels himself to the office doorway in his rolling chair.
“You know she’s going to drown herself.”
A reluctant T’Challa sighs. “Yep.”
To be continued headass…

Male reader x T’challa
Side note-Reader is a Top and is Dominant
-This is based off of the Black Panther movie -M/n = You
Females She/Her and She/They DNI
Imagine
Digging your way out of the debris of the fallen building. The same building you and your boyfriend had been in, where his father was giving a speech. You struggled to stand up due to the pressure that was once bestowed on your legs. Your eyes jolted from one place to another, trying to find the prince of Wakanda. The sound of debris being moved immediately caught his attention. A feeling of relief went through him as he saw his lover pushing himself up from the rubble. He used whatever energy he had left in him to pull him up, to which the male gripped onto him.
“Are you okay?” The e/c eyed male asked as he cupped the princes face. T’challa muttered something before his eyes widened.
"I-i'm fine...wait where is my father?!” T’challa responded with sudden concern in his tone. The both of you turned to where the King had last been seen, and there he was. Laying there with no signs of survival being shown.
T'challa stumbled towards his now deceased father and began to hug him, rocking back and forth after realizing he was gone. M/n didn''t know what to do, all he could do at the moment was wrap his arms around T'challa as they both mourned the loss of the king.
Imagine
Wrapping your arms around T’challa, as you both admire the beauty of Wakanda. The mission you had been on was relatively easy, but T'challa was still worried. Either way, he was glad that they both came out all right. Nakia was also doing well, and you were both happy to see one another. Their was a comfortable silence between the two of you as Okoye announced that you were home. Going through the illusion that covered your nation was something that had never gotten old to the T'challa. The loss of the previous king still weighed heavy on their hearts, but that was all part of grief. It was time to look forward now and see where this change would bring you. M/n took a glance at T'challa's face, seeing how he looked lost.
"You know, if your so nervous about becoming the King I could just challenge you and take that place." M/n said with devious smirk on his face, as the Prince looked back at him with an unamused expression.
"Oh please, you wouldn't be able to handle it..." T'challa said in a sarcastic tone of voice. Nakia and Okoye listened in on their conversation as they approached the Citadel.
"Well...even if that is the case there's always one thing that I know how to handle." The h/c haired male said with a smug look on his face.
"Oh? And what would that be?" T'challa asked in curiosity as the other man looked him up and down before winking, proceeding to walk towards the exit. T'challa froze again like he did not so long ago, he felt his face heating up at his lovers comment before following close behind him. He held his head low to cover the look of embarrassment on his face. Nakia and Okoye gave each other a look before following the two, both wondering how T'challa met someone like you.
Imagine
Being in the lab with Shuri, helping her with T’challa’s new suit. He had became King, and you were very proud for him. Although, it did feel like hell having to watch him get stabbed by M’baku’s staff. Shuri had brought up the new suit for her brother to test out to which he did. When his attack was absorbed Shuri had started recording which led to T'challas confusion.
"M/n ,....why is she recording..?"
"Research purposes...?"M/n replied in faux confusion. T'challa squinted and eyed the both of them before striking the suit in the same spot. The release of the kinetic energy sent the king flying, which caused the two who were preasent to laugh.
“Delete that right now!” T’challa demanded as you and Shuri laughed at the footage that had been recorded. You helped him stand up but he gave you a fake glare. You couldn’t help but kiss him on the cheek which caused him to push you away with a smile on his face.
“Ah come on you can’t stay mad at me~.” M/n teased as T’challa looked away in embarrassment.
“Aw..my brother is blushing.” Shuri said with a wide smile as T’challa rolled his eyes.
“Shut up Shuri....”
Imagine
Sharing a heated kiss with T’challa, which led to him being under you. His hand was buried in the h/c haired males scalp as he moaned at the feeling of M/n’s lips being against his skin.
“You enjoying yourself my King~?” M/n asked as he slowly palmed his hardening cock through his pants. The dark skinned male could only whimper in response as the s/c skinned male began to play with his nipples. The King arched his back in response which made him moan. M/n pulled away to which T’challa stared at him through lust filled eyes.
“W-why’d you stop.” T’challa asked as he watched M/n grab a small bottle of lube.
“Well....I don’t think either of us would enjoy seeing you in pain.” M/n said softly as T’challa stared up at him with a softened expression, the once heated moment turned into something more gentle. T’challa used one of his free hands to place it on M/n’s cheek, pulling the male into a short but meaningful kiss. He gave him a droopy smile before M/n guided one of his hands towards the other mans penis. M/n began to give the Kings cock long strokes before using the thumb technique, while his other hand grabbed the small bottle.
T’challa’s hands gripped onto the sheets, breathy moans escaping his mouth as M/n poured a generous amount of lube onto his fingers. He slowly circled T’challa’s rim before pushing a finger into him. The man beneath him hissed at the intrusion as M/n stared down at him.
M/n held T’challa’s cock in a gentle grip as he began to thrust his finger in and out. The stinging sensation turned into something blissful as the King moaned in pleasure.
“More...-ah! Please...?”
“Patience my love, you'll get what you want.”
Imagine
Wakng up early in the morning, the sun not even being out as the moonlights rays shined. T'challa's head was laid on your chest, his steady breathing indicating that he was in a deep sleep. You smile and checked the time seeing that it was barely 2 am. Your session lasted for about 4 rounds before T'challa had to tap out. Despite you being the dominant one of the relationship, it seemed that he would be using his title as King to give you orders of what to do. You stretched for a moment, leaving T'challa to lay on one of his many pillows. M/n sighed and was about to stand up when he heard a grunt behind him.
"Where are you going....what time is it..? T'challa questions as M/n ran a hand through his h/c hair.
"I was gonna go take a walk, didn't expect you to wake up." M/n said with a nervous smile making its way upon his features. T'challa sat up and pulled M/n by the arm, signalling for him to lay back down.
"I didn't feel your warmth anymore so I couldn't sleep." T'challa explains as he turned so that his back was facing M/n. The male that was mentioned smirked and pulled the covers over the both of them. He wrapped his arms around T'challa's waist and pulled him closer to him. The king hummed in content as he closed his eyes, now being able to bask in his boyfriends warmth once again.

Ultimate Black Panther #1-3 Discussion
If you have not read these issues, then please look away now. I’ve liked the series so far so I recommend you get these issues if you can. The only reason why this Discussion is late is because there was a massive shortage on the first issue, and I couldn’t get my hands on it until a few weeks ago.
I found it really interesting that Okoye and T’Challa are together in this universe because when I first got into reading comics Ororo/Storm and T’Challa were together. I always realty did like that pairing and wanted it back after Avengers versus X-Men broke them up. I understand why they broke up, but I was still hoping they’d be back together someday. I do think that Okoye is an interesting choice for a queen, but you can tell that they have a political marriage. In the first issue, we see them sleep in separate beds and the way they talk to one another feels more like two respected colleagues rather than two people that ever loved one another:
It just feels like they’re being forced to stay with each other because the tradition/politics of Wakanda wanted them to be married. In issue 2, there’s a scene where T’Challa is talking to the Vodu-Khan, and they’re telling him about this “woman of light” that will apparently have a child with him. In that scene, we see T’Challa assume that this will be Okoye, but at the same time we’re also kind of hinting that its going to be Ororo/Storm:
I’m really looking forward to seeing how Okoye and T’Challa’s marriage and relationship play out in this series because it feels like right now, with T’Challa being with Ororo currently, it could be such a big mess. I’m also looking forward to learning more about Okoye in this series because I feel like we don’t really know much about her besides her relationship/marriage to T’Challa.
Speaking of Ororo/Storm, we have seen a bit of her in this book so far. I like how in the first issue we just saw silhouette of her in lightning:
This is the reason why I think she’s the woman of light that the Vodu-Khan was talking to T’Challa about because they literally silhouetted her in light during her first appearance. It could be a red herring; but also, I don’t really think so because in the second issue when T’Challa meets her, he literally is in awe of her and even recognizes that she is a woman of light:
I think there’s a lot of people, like me, that really wanted these two back together in the main universe and I think that’s exactly what Bryan Hill is going to give us in this series. I also really like how in the pages above, we kind of see T’Challa be faced with his destiny or the destiny that was foretold to him. I’m kind of a sucker for those stories of destined lovers and I would love to see their romance play out more in this series if this is where they’re actually going to head with this story. I also want to know more about Ororo’s character and who she is. Currently, we only really know that she’s in a partnership with Killmonger to help people in need. She also seems to trust Killmonger a lot so maybe they’re in a relationship or maybe they’re siblings? If they’re in a relationship and the prophecy is true then T’Challa and Killmonger are definitely going to butt heads because of that. If the book told us what their relationship is, then I for sure missed it.
Anyways, I want to talk more about her design. I really like her design in this comic. I can now see where Maystorm/May Igarashi from the Ultimate X-Men title gets her design inspiration from. However, this also gave me a lot of questions about her as a character. If somebody like May from Japan knows about Ororo, then is she famous? If so, then what for? Is she a famous mutant in this universe? Is she part of the X-Men in this universe? Because it seems that nobody knows about her when she shows up in these books. Does the X-Men even exist in this universe? Because the Ultimate X-Men book hasn’t answered that either. I’m really hoping we get to know more about her soon.
EDIT/SPOILERS for Ultimate X-Men #4: I have been procrastinating on writing/posting this since last week and this week’s Ultimate X-Men #4 actually reveals that this Ororo is just a freedom fighter. She’s not associated with the X-Men in any way or at least not that we know of yet. Also, the X-Men as a group doesn’t seem to exist in this universe yet.
Ultimate X-Men #4 Storm:
Next, I’m going to talk about the Vodu-Khan. They are set up as elder religious types in this title. They seem to be connected supernaturally to Bast and tries to guide the King of Wakanda. T’Challa actually doesn’t seem to like them nor trusts them in the first issue. However, after T’Chaka dies, we see that he starts trusting them more and more. However, I’m not really sure whether he actually trusts them, or if he just took his father’s advice in issue 1:
I’m focusing on this group because I feel like they might be the traitors of Wakanda. Maybe I’m also just thinking that because T’Challa already didn’t trust them in issue 1, but I feel like they have an ulterior motive. Also, I felt like they had the most to gain when T’Chaka died because after he died, T’Challa started trusting them more and going to them more it seems. I don ‘t really have any other proof of their treason yet, so all of this is conjecture for now. I’d love to know what you guys think though. I have heard that some people think that the traitor is Okoye because of her and T’Challa’s political marriage, but I’m not sure about that either.
I want to talk about this T’Challa for a bit. In the beginning of the series, he says “Traditions must change.” when talking to Okoye after his dream, but we haven’t really seen him change anything yet. I feel like his father’s death has only made him embrace the traditions of Wakanda more, hence why I wasn’t sure if he actually trusted the Vodu-Khan or not. I definitely feel like watching his father die made him more vulnerable and more accepting of the traditions of Wakanda because he’s grieving and need to rely on those traditions right now. After his father’s death, he also became a bit more paranoid to the point that Wakanda’s people are being arrested because T’Challa doesn’t know how many more spies are in his kingdom:
He’s very paranoid right now, which is understandable, but it also is putting so much strain on the faith that his people might have in him and in Wakanda as a whole. Also, we’re shown that this T’Challa doesn’t really know much about the world outside of Wakanda:
I could be reading into this wrong, but it feels like he’s been trapped inside Wakanda for a long time and that he needs to see for himself what the outside world truly is. He has a sense of the nations and countries outside of Wakanda, but he’s never truly experienced it for himself. I’m really excited to see him find out more about the world around him/the world outside of Wakanda and see how that affects his rule as king. Like how would he react to finding out that this world was tampered with by the Maker? He seems like he’s going to be part of the Ultimates at some point, so I’m excited to see how he changes. I also really like how much different this T’Challa is to the main universe counterpart. I feel like the main universe is sure of himself and more confident in his skills as a leader. However, this new Ultimate version of Black Panther feels like he has a lot to prove to himself and to his people. I’m excited to see him grow as a character and see him develop into a better king.
In this title, Khonshu and Ra seems to be trying to take over Wakanda or the whole of Africa for their Vibranium. I think ever since the Maker disappeared most of the illuminati of this universe are trying to take more power and to rule more land, so I think that’s why they send those spies to Wakanda that ended up killing T’Chaka in issue 1:
I also think that they might want to take whatever that little green planet-like structure was that we say at the end of issue 3:
I have no clue what this planet-like thing is, but my theory is that it’s the remnants or shadow of this old universe before the Maker changed everything. However, I have no proof of any of that. It’s just a crazy theory. I’m very excited to find out where this story leads. Also, one last thing about Khonshu and Ra. At the end of issue 1, T’Challa says that they call themselves Moon Knight and I kind of find it interesting that in this universe Moon Knight is more of an organization that Khonshu and Ra has formed rather than an actual character. I wonder if Khonshu and Ra in this universe are actually gods or if they’re just wealthy/powerful people of influence in this universe.
Lastly, I want to talk about Killmonger. We first see Killmonger with Ororo in the first issue helping out the people of West Africa fend off against Khonshu and Ra’s army. He seems to be a freedom fighter that wants to help out people wherever he can. I don’t think this Killmonger will serve as a villain but more so as a guide to open T’Challa’s eyes to the horrors that exist outside the walls of Wakanda. I also really like what he says in Issue 3, where he talks about how he got tired of sitting in paradise and watching people suffer:
I feel like by the end of this arc that T’Challa is probably going to feel similarly to Killmonger. His eyes will be open to all the cruelties this world has to offer and he’ll want to help the people not just his people in Wakanda but people who are suffering around the world. I think Wakanda will end up being known to the world rather than a secret.
Thank you for reading this post! Tell me what you think of Ultimate Black Panther so far. I’ve been enjoying this title so far, but I would love it if they started telling us what’s going on sooner though. I just have so many questions right now (specifically, after issue 3) and I just want some of those to be answered right now. Also, sorry if this post was a bit hectic. There was a lot that I wanted to talk about, so I hope I talked about it well. Speaking of, I totally forgot to compliment Stefano Caselli's art. I think he did a fantastic job in this book. That should be all I wanted to talk about. i never want to do a 3 issue discussion again. Have a great day! Thanks for reading this!

Green eyes Pt 3
a/n: Suprise! I decided that y'all deserved it. Enjoy because it's a little longer...
Word count: 2.5k+
Pairing: Suri x Black!fem!reader
Summary: Five years. It'sbeen five years since the blip. And even longer since you've been in a relationship. Maybe it's for the best. The last time you were in a relationship, it just ended in dissarray. But, when your ex comes back into your life, can you start over and do it again? Or try to move on with an unexpected lover?
______________________________________________________________
You get off the plane to start this mission. You had a meeting when you landed, so you were in your bad-ass suit. And your silk press flowing in the wind, you felt like you could conquer the world.
“Welcome back to Wakanda Y/n” Okoye said.
“Thanks, hopefully, it won't be too long,” You say.
“Well, Shuri is very happy that you are here, you know the country missed your spirit. We could use it right about now”
“What do you mean? As far as I know everyone is fine. I can’t wait to see her brother though, I missed him and his wisdom” You loved her brother T’Challa. He was the only one in your corner about you and Shuri’s relationship. He was the first person she told, and he welcomed you like a sister.
Okoye looked at you, with pure sorrow and realization that you had no idea.
“What Okoye? What’s the matter?”
“...nothing…everything is fine”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes, you should get to your chosen room”
Something was off with Okoye, something was off with Wakanda herself. She wasn’t as bright as you remembered. Whatever happened here sucked the joy out of this country.
__________________________________________________________
You were in your chosen room, getting ready for the celebratory dinner that Shuri prepared for her newfound partners, you had to attend, even if you were just an “assistant”. God, you hated that title. You just got out of that title, but just got right back to square one.
“I’m ready,” You say.
Your dress was sequenced to the gods, long, and light blue.
“You look beautiful, my-” The servant paused as she felt she was saying something wrong.
“My…”
“Nothing”
You sighed in frustration. Why was everyone so uptight?
___________________________________________________________
You arrived already wanting to go home. You were jet-lagged and hungry, a recipe for disaster waiting to happen. Bad things happen when those two collide.
“Why are you always late, my love,” Shuri said
“Because I can, and I am not your love,” You say irritatedly.
“Yes you are, you always will be, now come and meet my partners”
They surprisingly were all women. Black women. And they were fine as hell. You guessed that Shuri messed with one of them.
“Well, this one is very beautiful, you single?”
“Well-” Shuri started.
“Yes, I am, actually, but I ain’t ready to mingle, sorry” You interrupt.
“Ok, well she is right, you are very beautiful”
“Thank you, you all are very lovely yourself”
Shuri’s jealousy was very apparent on her face.
“Ok, ladies can we talk business please?” Shuri said
“You know, jealousy is not a good look on you” One of the partners muttered.
If your face could show color, you would be red as a tomato right now.
“So, what are your all’s names?” You say trying to change the subject.
“Mecha”
“Kari”
“Zola”
“Nice to meet y’all”
“Oh you from the south, huh?” Zola said chuckling
“Yup, born and raised,” You say, shyly.
Shuri didn’t like that you were flirting with them all. At least with your body. Shuri kept looking at you like you were raw meat. She was obviously jealous, and that made your heart giddy considering this happened all the time in their relationship.
___________________________________________________________
“So with this deal, you can patent your invention and get 89.5% of revenue and that's not including royalties,” Kari said
“Wow,” You say
You looked around. “But…”
“But…”” Zola says
“But what? You want sole custody of affairs, a percentage of the company? Something right?”
“Why would you assume that?”
“ Well, there's always something in these things, I've had my fair share of deals for my inventions,” you say
“My love, I wouldn’t have given you this opportunity if it wasn’t for your benefit, this is a once in a lifetime chance,” Shuri said
“I’m sorry, given? Like you can take it away?” you exclaimed
“...I can but I wouldn’t,” Shuri said while drinking her drink. “You're in control of everything”
You didn’t like this deal for the fact that Shuri is in it, but the fact is: that it is the best deal that you have ever received. Ever. Not even Bill Gates offered this much. It could set you up for life.
“You don’t have to say anything right now, were patient,” Kari said winking
You were stunned. Shuri was playing low. Not only are you working for her, but now she's going to be in charge of your invention too. The thing that you put your blood, sweat, and tears into. Hell no. You couldn’t do it. You wanted independence and being under Shuri wouldn’t grant you that. You gotta give it to her, she was smart. But, you were smarter, at least in money and finances.
“Shuri is part of it, correct? She is an investor?” you ask.
“Yes,” Mecha said. “But only 14% gain”
“I want it to be 0, either you find another investor or I walk,” you say.
“Damn…” Zola whispers
“Why?” Mecha asks
“I know what the hell she is doing. Let’s be forreal for a second, she is using my invention to either get back into my life OR to control it. I ain’t havin’ it. This is starting to piss me off.” You turn to Shuri. “You coming for mine is low, all because what? You miss me? You want me back? Well, if you want me back, you're gonna have to do a lot more than this, because I would NEVER make a deal with you for my invention, the only thing I have left” you got out of your chair and started walking away.
She put down her drink, gritting her teeth from the alcohol. Shuri was getting pissed off. Not at the fact that you told her off, that you caught her. It was true, she wanted to be a part of your life again. She missed you. It was a low blow to go for yours, but all she wants to do is see you. Hold you. Touch you. To see your smile when you're happy. She needs you.
You were leaving the restaurant. You had enough of her and her trying to get to you. Suddenly, you felt Shuri grabbing your arm, you were taken aback by her strength.
“What the Shuri let go of me-” She led you to the back of the restaurant and forced your body to turn to her.
“Enough y/n! I still want this! I want us again! Can’t you see? I JUST WANTED TO GET CLOSE TO YOU!” Shuri was almost shouting.
You never felt so ambushed in your life. You knew this was coming, but you didn’t expect it this soon. It was all so sudden. You just said the first thing that came to your mind even though you didn’t mean it.
“...you know that it can never happen right…”
Shuri’s heart broke when you said that. You changed too much too quickly. The girl that she knew was gone.
“...Why?” she said holding her tears
You were blinking back tears. The truth is that you didn’t know if you could love her again. Loving her almost broke you. You could tell that Shuri was broken, but you cared for her too much to lie to her.
“I…I don’t think I can love you. Not the way you want me to.”
You took a small pause.
“And…we’ve changed…you won’t tell me anything, which is fair, but I don’t know what happened to you.”
“Is it my clothes?” Shuri asked jokingly
“No no, it's not that,” you said blushing
Shuri smirked at you. “Ok…I get it. It hurts…but I get it. But, can I just ask for one night?”
“One night to do what?”
“Tell you something that I’ve been avoiding ever since you got here”
“Ok…I’m gonna ask Okoye where T’Challa is, I haven’t seen him at all and I know he missed me”
Shuri suddenly had a somber expression on her face. Shuri knew that you loved her brother. Just like she did. The one thing she is scared of is when she tells you that her brother is gone.
______________________________________________________________
A few days later
“Shuri, please tell me what's going on?” You say, trying to catch up to her.
“My love, just bear with me please,” Shuri says
‘Why are we in your lab? Shuri-”
“Can you please shut up for one minute?”
“No, don’t you ever talk to me like that again”
“Umfazi, don't test me. Just wait here and be patient”
She went inside and left you at the entrance.
I swear, what is going on? What is Shuri planning? And why is she so mean today?
All of these thoughts clouded your mind until the door opened.
Welcome Y/N, Shuri is waiting for you at the top. Please take your time and enjoy.
What the hell was that? You thought.
You walked in and gasped at how big and beautiful it was. You walked around the first floor, trying to take everything in. You never were allowed in here. Her mother said that it was her happy place.
“Shuri please!” you said yelling.
“Please tell me what’s going on, I can’t help you if I don’t know!”
You finally found stairs. It had white rose petals and a bouquet of white lilies of the valley. You grabbed them to look at and smell. They smelled amazing. They weren't your favorite anymore, but you still love them. Shuri was watching you from above, making sure she could see you but you couldn’t see her. You were like prey, her waiting for an opening.
You finally made it to the third floor. You were tired, frustrated, and hungry.
“Shuri I swear, when I find you..” you said panting “..I am going to get you back for this”
“You can get me back any time, uthando,” Shuri said, her voice echoing in the lab.
Her voice put shivers in your body. You were walking up to the fourth floor when you saw an old school TV you grew up on. It was paused on something. Press play my love. You took the note off of the remote. You pressed play.
“You are recording?”
Your eyes widened. It was T’Challa.
“For research purposes,” Shuri said.
T’Challa was about to kick the mannequin. When he did, he flew back and Shuri was laughing.
“Delete that footage!” T’Challa said
You had a smile on your face after it was over.
You made your way up to the second to the top floor. The last thing you saw was more white rose petals and an elevator
“Oh thank God!” you said, relieved.
You pressed the button and waited for it to come down. You looked around trying to waste time, and saw someone’s eyes. They looked at you with pure lust. Almost animalistic. You were a little freaked out but turned on at the same time. You entered the elevator and went up.
___________________________________________________________
“Shuri…” you say
“Shuri please stop playing these games-”
You suddenly hear something in the distance. You slowly go toward the sound scared out of your mind.
Please…please don't let me die You thought.
Your body relaxed when you saw it was Shuri.
“Oh my- Shuri I swear ima-” You slapped her on her arm with your glove.
“Woah woah love I’m sorry, I just needed to fix a few things”
“Shuri, what the hell needs fixing? Have you seen this place?” You said looking around.
Shuri chuckled. “Look behind you, love”
You peeked behind her and saw a low-lit area with a fancy table and chairs. Your eyes widened at the beautiful sight.
“Shuri…it must be very bad if it is this nice,” you said as she grabbed you by your waist.
“Come, sit my love”
You hesitantly went and sat down, Shuri was about to pull out your chair but you pulled out your chair before she could. “My love really?”
“What? I’m just pulling out my chair…can I do that master?” you said, smirking.
Shuri looked at you with pure lust and awe in her eyes. She already had a big ego and you were not helping. She went to sit down. You guys started talking about light stuff.
___________________________________________________________ “Ok Shuri, please just tell me what is going on. Where is T’Challa? Is he away on a mission?” you asked.
She almost choked on her drink. She forgot that she had to tell you the bad news. Her eyes looked up to yours, sad.
“My love he was- he passed…” Shuri said. “He passed a year ago”
You were in complete shock. You didn’t know what to do. Your vision started to blur. Probably the tears that were forming did that. “H- how did he pass?” You say trembling on the inside. “He passed from an illness” Shuri’s tone was very dark. She was trying to be gentle, but talking about her brother always made her sour. You got up to leave. “Um…excuse me for a-”
Your sentence was interrupted by you knocking over a vase. Shuri immediately got up to go and comfort you.
“DON’T!” you yelled. “Don't Shuri I- I need to be alone..” you said, trembling.
“My love you cannot be on your own…I know this is sudden-”
”When were you gonna tell me? HUH? He was like my brother Shuri ARE YOU SERIOUS?” you shrieked sobbing. Your heart was broken. You couldn’t feel anything but remorse and anger. Anger that she never told you. Remorse that you didn’t call. Shuri’s heartbroken seeing you like this. It seemed like she just kept breaking your heart. She knew she was right. Even if they ended, T’challa adored her, he treated her like another sister.
“My love I-”
“Don’t. Don't you fucking dare. I never want to speak to you again. All you have ever done was cause me pain. You- you are a constant reminder of what I was and what I had. And it wasn't much”
That pissed her off. You got disrespectful ever since she first talked to you and she was starting to get fed up.
“You listen to me. I just told you now. I am sick of all of the victim blaming, you are not so fucking innocent yourself. YOU broke my heart. YOU left me. ALL YOU HAVE DONE IS FED ME TO THE WOLVES. BAST YOU EVEN OUTED ME TO MY MOM”
Your mouth fell open. You were now pissed. You never did that. You may have left, but you would never do something so vile.
“SHURI BE SO FUCKING FOR REAL RIGHT NOW. I WOULD NEVER DO THAT TO YOU. I'VE BEEN THROUGH THAT BEFORE, YOU MAY BE THINKING OF ONE OF YOUR HORES THAT YOU SLEPT WITH AFTER ME”
That is when Shuri lost it. She went to you, you and her were so close, you could smell her and feel her breath in her nose.
“I ONLY WENT TO THOSE ‘HORES’ BECAUSE OF YOU. YOU BROKE ME, SO I WENT OFF THE FUCKING RAILS”
“OH PEASE SHURI, YOU DID WHAT YOU WANTED TO DO, I BET YOU WASTED NO TIME MOVING ON AND FINDING THE NEXT PIECE OF ASS”
“THE ONLY PIECE OF ASS I EVER WANTED WAS YOURS. I HAVE ALWAYS WANTED YOU. CRAVED YOU. ALL I EVER WANTED WAS YOU”
Suddenly the elevator doors opened. You both turned to see a shadow of a person.
“Babe…who is this?”

𓃮 Even the Sun Influences the Tide: Chapter Ninteen
Even the Sun Influences the Tide: After the death of your foster brother, King T’Challa, you had spent much of your year of mourning in isolation. When your mother gathers you and your sister to end your mourning period, you encounter the newest threat to Wakanda: Namor. You don’t know what to think of Namor, but you do know one thing: he probably shouldn’t be making trips to see you at your beach hut.
Warnings: None.

“How did you manage to keep that a secret for so long? Especially from mother and Okoye?” Shuri questioned, very impressed with the fact that Namor had been able to sneak into Wakanda to visit you repeatedly over the course of two months, without anyone knowing. You were in the process of returning your jade necklace to its place upon your neck when you glanced at her.
“Believe me, I was tempted to tattle more than once, certainly when he kept coming back…” You murmured, thinking back to your perception of K’uk’ulkan when he had first started dropping by. “But he never once threatened me nor did he come across as scheming or intentionally trying to get government secrets out of me. Eventually he started telling me stories of his people.”
“Really?” Shuri asked, eyebrow arched. “He really must have liked you then.”
“Yeah, well, his company as I found out, was not that bad.” You said with a shrug. “Probably why it wasn’t that hard to agree to an alliance with him. Granted I didn’t exactly realize that by making an alliance meant that I was marrying him.” You sighed in memory of the event. “Probably why he told me several times not to be hasty in that decision.”
“Only you would end up marrying to make an alliance, but have no idea that you were getting married in the first place.” You both snorted because it was true. Shuri tilted her head to the side. “It makes me feel better that he didn’t let you go charging into that decision without a second thought.” She then eyed you. “But I do have to say, sister, you know how to pick voracious men. The number of marks I saw…”
Your face flooded with heat as you covered your eyes, nearly drowning in embarrassment at Shuri seeing the evidence of your… activities. Chuckling, Shuri nudged your shoulder with hers.
“I’m guessing that Namor has great stamina, surprising considering his age.” Your face couldn’t burn any hotter at this point. “I wonder how his refractory period is effected by the blue herb?”
“You are assuming he has one, Shuri,” You whispered meekly. It was almost comical the way Shuri’s eyebrows rose and her eyes widened. For the first time since you had met her so long ago, Shuri was speechless.
“You don’t mean…” You nodded.
“Pretty sure he doesn’t have one, and let me tell you, I have had sore muscles in places I didn’t even know you could be sore in.” Shuri snickered at you, which you punched her in the arm for, before sobering up. “But really, Shuri, you and mama have nothing to worry about.”
“Mother is not going to see it that way.” That you knew. You got your stubbornness from her.
“Naturally,” You sighed before looking to Attuma who had been lurking in the shadows. “Attuma?” The massive warrior stepped forward once more.
“Je’el, in reina,” He spoke, glad to see the color returned to your face and the fire within your eyes once more.
“You are not going to be happy with my decision but I need to go back.” As Griot was translating your words in Yucatec Maya, Shuri was already rejecting you idea.
“Are you out of your mind, Y/N!” Shuri thundered, echoing Attuma’s rapid bursts of words you didn’t understand. “You almost died because you went there and now you want to go back!?” You let them both bluster and explode on you, clearly against your statement of wanting to go back. Arms crossing your chest, you leaned back against a work table and waited for them to stop. You were used to Shuri’s anger and disagreement, and Attuma, while large, intimidating and deadly, did not scare you. You took in a deep breath and gave them both a frank look.
“May I remind you both who the queen is in this room?” You questioned. Shuri’s jaw nearly dropped open and you were fairly sure Attuma’s eye twitched. “Don’t argue with me, I won’t entertain it.”
“I think you’ve fallen into that roll a little too well for my liking, Y/N.” Shuri griped, her eyes still narrowed at you.
“I’m not going to apologize.” You returned, not backing down from her gaze. “Now, you can either come with me and have the knowledge that I am alright. Or you can stay here and be left to wonder.”
“That is quite a cruel decision, even for you.” Shuri responded, both unhappy with your words but impressed by you standing firm with your decision.
“Alls fair in love and war, Shuri,” You reminded her. “And is it not the queen’s duty to make difficult decisions?”
“Ma' ken a kuxtal táan amenazada,” (Not when your life is threatened) Attuma cut in. “K’uk’ulkan ma' yéetel ki'imak.” (K’uk’ulkan will not be happy)
Listening to Griot translate his words, you mulled them over, knowing full well that K’uk’ulkan would indeed be not happy that you had come right back to the place where you had almost died. But you were firm with your decision.
“This is not a request,” You said firmly. “It’s an order.”
Shuri and Attuma exchanged a look, clearly not expecting that from you. But going off technicality, you held the highest rank in the room and therefore, were within your rights to make such a decision and order.
“Fine, but you do not leave our sides, nor do you think about going near any rubble or wreckage.” Shuri stated firmly, pointing a finger at you. “Just because you are queen does not mean that you can wander wherever you want.”
“Duly noted,” You replied, standing up from your lean. “Now I’d like to leave before mother and Ch'ah Toh Almehen rip each others throats out because at this rate? It’s likely to happen.” You said while moving towards the exit. Shuri chased after you with Attuma on her heels.
“Y/N, wait!” You sighed and paused in step, looking back at her.
“What is it you wish to argue about now Shuri?” Shuri reached you and stared into your eyes.
“It’s about the results of some tests I had my team run while you were in the tank.” Shuri began, not knowing how to break the news. What she did know was that she didn’t want Griot to translate what she was about to say. At the very least the Talokanil was lingering several feet away. “Griot don’t translate what I’m about to say.”
“Yes, princess,” The AI replied. You frowned at Shuri’s words, worried about what she had to say that she didn’t want Attuma hearing. Shuri took a deep breath.
“You have trace levels of hCG in your blood, Y/N.” You blinked at her and raised your eyebrow.
“Shuri I have no idea what hGC is, you’re going to have to explain that one to me.”
“The only time hGC can be found within the human body, is during pregnancy.” Shuri explained, watching in your face and attempting to gauge your reaction to that news. You were silent, your mind reeling at the information. Surely it took longer than just ten days, to get pregnant. Don’t be ridiculous, Y/N, all it takes is one time. Your mind pushed aside the knowledge of you being pregnant and focused on another terrifying thought.
“Shuri,” You whispered, your voice deathly quiet. “Shuri I almost died and then proceeded to have an untested medical treatment. I— There’s no way—“
“Look, we’re talking about a pregnancy that isn’t even two weeks along.” Shuri said, taking your hand and giving it a squeeze. “Now, the chances that your recent medical trauma causing a miscarriage are certainly a potential outcome… but it is not a certainty.”
“That’s not helping Shuri, you know how sensitive babies are to medications and such. I just had something that wasn’t designed for even me to have!”
“That does not mean it will affect the fetus, K’uk’ulkan turned out fine.”
“He wasn’t exposed to the heart shaped herb!” You almost shouted, waving an arm. Attuma stepped forwards.
“In reina?” You glanced at him, and collected yourself. Now was not the time to be worrying about this. Let alone thinking about it. You had bigger issues.
“We should just go,” You said, putting that news in the back of your mind. “The fetus probably didn’t survive the trauma of my injuries and isn’t even two weeks along. There’s no point in worrying about something that will probably never come to light. Let’s go.”
You strode away, your fingers picking at the flesh around your wrists as you walked.
It was tense on the ship as you flew back to the beach where your mother and K’uk’ulkan still were. You took to drumming your fingertips on your knee, fidgeting about the idea that even after you had been injured in front of them… your mother and K’uk’ulkan would still go back to fighting. You were up and out of your seat before the ship even touched down on the sand, and the moment it did you were opening the hatch and striding across the sand towards the masses of warriors.
No one was fighting, you were relieved to see, but that didn’t mean your mother and K’uk’ulkan were being cordial with one another. You ignored the looks of relief of those around you, your mind focused on only one thing. The moment you spotted K’uk’ulkan and your mother, all else failed to exist and you got tunnel vision. You were blind to Shuri and Attuma’s efforts to guide you around the carnage, and even waved off Okoye when she approached you. K’uk’ulkan was the first to spot you, feeling your gaze upon his body. To say he was shocked was as understatement. Then your mother noticed that he was staring at something and caught sight of marching towards her.
“Y/N!” She breathed out, feeling a rush of weakness at the sight of you alive and well. They both headed towards you, but K’uk’ulkan was the fastest, zipping in front of you and spouting out words of Yucatec Maya a mile a minute while cradling your face in hand and running his other over your body in search of injury.
“I have no idea what you just said but I am fine.” You told him, allowing his rapid and desperate search for injury upon your body. K’uk’ulkan’s brown eyes narrowed in disbelief, and he held your face in a firmer grasp.
“What are you doing back here!?” He growled at you, his voice rasping and betraying his true state. “In k'iino’ you should not have come back! Your lungs—“
“Are pretty much toast but I don’t need them anymore.” You said, cutting him off as he was about to go on a rant about how foolish it was for you to be up and walking after having taken a piece of metal to the abdomen.
“Y/N, you should not have come, you almost died here in our arms.” Ramonda chastised, more than happy to see you but very displeased that you had come back to the place that nearly killed you. Her eyes shot to Shuri while K’uk’ulkan turned to Attuma, clearly displeased that his general had allowed his queen to return to such danger. Were they not supposed to keep you safe and out of harms way?
“I told you this would haome back to the place that nearly killed you. Her eyes shot to Shuri while K’uk’ulkan turned to Attuma, clearly displeased that his general had allowed his not have come back! Yppen.” Shuri quipped giving you a look. You sglance oa her.
“And do you know how much I care at the moment?” You replied breezily with a scary smile.
“Le Reina k ordenó k’a’,” (The queen ordered us to return) Attuma spoke to his king, bowing his head solemnly. “Ma' in habría arriesgado.” (I wouldn’t have risked it) K’uk’ulkan’s eyebrow went up as he stared at you in disbelief and you could have sworn that your mother would have face palmed herself if she hadn’t been in such company. You lifted your gaze to K’uk’ulkan’s intense brown one and you pressed your fingers against the jade necklace overlaying his traditional one.
“May I remind you,” You enunciated, ensuring that your words were loud and clear to both of them. “That I am a queen who is capable of making her own decisions? I am not for show.”
“Je’el, in reina,” K’uk’ulkan obediently replied, entranced with your spark of fire yet again.
“Now,” You sighed out. “Can you please tell me that you two have come to an agreement?”

“Your company is my cup of tea This light in between us is dim just like The moonlight Shit got me feeling nice When you hit me up I feel a drop in my tum like Damn, am I in love? I might be if she comes to spend the night That could be nice”
You plopped yourself into your hammock chair and let out a hearty sigh. Finally a moment of calm after a long day, you gazed out into the French Quarter and people watched for a moment. Although you had only been in the space a year you loved how it allowed you to just observe people going about their daily lives.
You reached for the blunt you had rolled the night before and brought it to your mouth. Taking one final look out into the Quarter you brought the lighter to the tip of the blunt and held it there just long enough for the paper to catch fire. You removed the lighter once you were satisfied and took your first pull of the blunt, savoring the aroma benefits that the rose and lavender had.
A light gust of wind swept past you and when you looked down at your blunt it had gone out. You shrugged your shoulders and relit the blunt, happy that it sparked again without canoeing. You turned your head to place the lighter down on the stand next to you and the same gust of wind swept past you, extinguishing your blunt once again. This time you were smart enough to notice the slight smell of sandalwood and ginger in the air when the wind passed you, both scents unusual for the New Orleans air to have. You were a clever woman and knew that once was an accident, twice was a coincidence but three times, three times was a sign. Deep down you had a feeling that you knew what, rather who the wind was trying to speak for but you needed one more attempt to know for sure.
You picked the lighter back up again and lit the blunt for the final time. A second passed and the gust of sandalwood and ginger air was back again put out your blunt. You took the hint and put down the blunt and lighter, clearly, he wanted your full attention right now.
“No sir, I don’t know what it is you want but I can’t today.” You spoke out to the wind, hoping he was listening. “It’s a full moon tonight. I’ve got plans.”
You waited for a response or sign but none came, evidently, that wasn’t the answer he wanted. You dropped your shoulders in defeat, even in death you couldn't say no to T’Challa.
“She’s here already?” You asked him. His response was to rustle the leaves underneath a light post across from your home. You could easily see the spot from your balcony and you knew when she came she would be able to do the same from her spot.
You leaned back into your hammock chair, satisfied that at least this time he was bringing her to you.
While you were now in a relaxed state Shuri was in exactly the opposite. After a mission had gone wrong, Nakia, Okoye, and her were left in New Orleans with no way of communicating with Wakanda. She had sustained a decent injury in her abdomen that her kimoyo beads were not fully healing and Okoye had at least dislocated her shoulder. Thankfully this city was slightly familiar to Shuri having been here once before. Running on pure hope, the young royal had led the group into the French Quarter hoping that by some miracle someone had heard her prayer and helped her once again.
“Shuri we are LOST,” Okoye stated plainly. “We need to develop a plan on how we are going to get back to Wakanda.”
“I have a plan,” Shuri said quietly as she continued walking ahead.
“Walking around the French Quarter aimlessly is not a plan!” Okoye urged through tight lips, not wanting to alarm any of the drunken guests that surrounded them.
“Nakia, are you concerned?” Shuri asked, turning around to face the two women.
“Slightly,” Nakia answered truthfully.
Shuri nodded, appreciating the honesty in her answer. “Okoye, only worry slightly then.” Shuri turned back around and resumed her path forward leaving the other women to follow her. Her fake confidence was slowly starting to leave her and she soon became worried that maybe her hope was a foolish thing to rely on.
Just as those thoughts started to enter her head Shuri felt something, it made her pause in her tracks stopping just under a streetlight. She was being watched. Her travel companions stopped behind her and looked her up and down confused.
“What is it?” Okoye questioned, concerned at the royal's sudden change in attitude.
“I am being watched.” Shuri looked all around the ground level of the quarter trying to find the pair of eyes that alerted her. When she couldn’t find them she moved her eyes up higher scanning the buildings and open terraces until she found you. There you were just as she had hoped to stare down at her in all of your ethereal glory, lit by the early moonlight.
You two exchanged looks for a minute before you tilted your head to the side inviting Shuri to come to you and make your way inside your apartment. It took you a few seconds to make it down the stairs and by the time you did Shuri and her partners were standing at the doorway.
The Queen was the first to approach you, walking up to the bottom of the steps she bowed in front of you.
“Princess,”
You narrowed your eyes at her when she stood up. Deciding to repeat her gesture you bowed to her.
“My Queen,”
Nakia and Okoye could both feel the fake formality in the gesture, it seemed more like a dig at each other than a showing off of titles.
“You knew I was coming?” Shuri questioned.
“He let me know not too long ago that you were here. Almost made me waste half a lighters fluid trying to get the message to me.” You replied with a shake of your head. Shuri nodded and Nakia glanced at Okoye to see if she had any idea what you two were talking about; she did not. You looked over the women's state and instantly saw Shuri and Okoye’s injuries. He always seemed to bring her back to you when she needed you the most.
“Well c’mon in.” You stepped aside and held open your arms gesturing towards the door. “An Udaku on my doorstep, I should have played the lottery.”
Shuri mouthed a thank you to you and led the two women up the front porch and through the front door. You followed behind them, “Take them into the back room Shuri, I’ll bring y’all some tea.”
The three women walked all the way to the back of your house to the screened-in back porch, Shuri gestured for them to sit on the couch and after exchanging a weary look the women obliged. Shuri sat in one of the bean bag chairs and relaxed into it; silently thanking Bast that her prayer had been answered.
Okoye and Nakia looked around the room, Nakia admired the art that you had displayed and the photos of snowy mountainsides. Okoye on the other hand was identifying points of exit and possible weapons within the room. What? Someone needed to be rational here.
“You never answered our question Shuri, who’s home is this? Who is she?” Okoye wanted answers and the way Shuri was so willing to let her guard down only left her with more questions.
Shuri sighed, she knew Okoye’s questions were reasonable but she didn’t want to give a straight answer before you got back. “She is a friend of the Udaku family, someone to who we owe a thank you for saving us tonight.”
Okoye groaned, “That is not an answer Shuri! We walk around an unfamiliar city and happen upon some “Princess” to take us in for the night? Nakia, do you know who she is?”
Nakia shook her head no in response, truthfully she was still too fixated on the art you had displayed. Something about a few of the landscapes felt familiar to Nakia but she couldn’t place them.
“Shuri just answer the-” Okoye’s words were stopped by your sudden presence at the door, she hadn’t even heard you walk up.
You smiled lightly. “I hope I’m not interrupting anything, General.” You set the tray of tea down on the coffee table between you all. “Please have a glass, it’s not like home but it’s still strong.”
Shuri was the only one to grab a cup and pour herself some of the hot tea. Okoye watched on in horror, wondering if this was how Wakanda’s monarch was going to go out. When nothing happened she let out a breath she didn’t know she was holding, thanking Bast that everything was fine, for now.
“You didn’t come in here with that technology this time, thank you.” There was something about the way you said technology that caught Nakia’s ear and brought her back to the conversation; once again it felt familiar as if she had heard it said like that before. She studied you as you sat down on a mat on the floor, tucking your legs beneath your long skirt as you sat crisscrossed.
“I am nothing if not respectful of your space.” Shuri took another sip of the tea savoring the strong herbal taste. “Thank you for taking us in tonight, I am not sure what I would have done without you.”
You smiled at Shuri’s thanks, “That tea should help with the pain some but if you want me to do something about your abdomen,” You turned to face Okoye. “And your arm, I’m gonna need to actually help you.”
Shuri went to speak, to tell you that you could do whatever you wanted but Okoye’s voice stopped her. “Does no one else see the problem with this?” Okoye turned to Nakia. “We are just supposed to trust some random American whom we know zero information about to ‘help’ us? After everything?”
You tried to act like Okoye’s questioning of your intentions didn’t hurt but deep down it did. You rose from the mat and grabbed your medical bag, allowing the sound of the wind to ground you. “Shuri, you’ve brought them here. Explain to them who I am.”
Once again Shuri went to talk but you sitting down next to her and speaking stopped her again. “But, I can tell you by the way she’s holding her stomach that the first stages of infection are starting to set in. So I can sit here and wait for her to tell you who I am and allow it to fester further. Or you can trust her judgment that she brought you here unarmed in the first place and allow me to give her and you the necessary medical aid you need.”
For a moment nothing could be heard in the room but the faint sound of the wind coming in through the window. Nakia broke the silence first, being ever the pacifier in tense situations.
“Please go ahead.” She nodded towards Shuri, “And you, start speaking.”
You opened your kit and began creating the mixture of plants you would need to stop Shuri’s infection. Shuri took off her shirt leaving her in just her sports bra and sweatpants. She rubbed her head for a few seconds debating how to phrase her next sentence before just blurting it out.
“This is Y/N Y/L/N, Princess of Jabari Land, and M’baku’s baby sister.”
It all clicked in Nakia’s head, the sceneries were from Jabari Land, and the way you said technology was identical to the way M’baku did. “I was not aware M’baku had a sister.” She studied your face as you lifted it from your kit, noticing your similar features.
You chuckled at her words as you began applying the paste lightly to Shuri’s stomach.“Then he’s done well by honoring our parents' wishes.”
The Queen winced for a second when you applied slight pressure to ensure that the remedy had saturated her wound, upon hearing it you spoke a “Je suis désolé mon chéri.” just loud enough for her to hear and she smiled sweetly down at you.
“You said she was a friend of the Udaku family, Shuri, who else knew of her?” Okoye looked you up and down trying to decide if she believed you let alone trusted you.
You could feel Shuri tense up underneath you before she spoke softly. “She was a friend of ‘Challa’s.”
Nakia’s eyes became more focused on you, curious as to how you could have come into contact with her former lover. “You knew T’Challa?”
You pulled your eyes from Shuri’s wound and over to Nakia. She could see the soft smile on your face. “I had the pleasure of knowing him when he was here with us and I’ve got the pleasure to still know him now.”
You spent the rest of the night explaining how you had met the former king. How after being shunned from your Jabari family for not following tradition and refusing marriage with a man, you ventured off out of Wakanda and into the United States, listening to the ancestors who spoke to you along the way through the wind. Eventually, you settled here in New Orleans and after living here for a year you felt a certain breeze come through, it called you into the city with its alluring nature and led you all the way to a very injured T’Challa. At first, he didn’t trust that you weren’t there to harm him but after you revealed your true identity to him, trust became quick with you two.
You nursed him back to health and in exchange, he promised that he would never forget you and left you with a set of kimoyo beads. Although the physical time that you two spent together was minimal T’Challa still made it his mission to call and check in on you every few months and ensure that you were still doing okay. When he stopped calling one day you just assumed he had forgotten about you finally and had moved on with his life. It wasn’t until you were sitting outside one day smoking a blunt and a warm breeze that smelled like him passed you that you knew. No one had to call you to tell you he had passed, the smell of sandalwood and ginger in the wind was enough to tell you that not only had he passed on but he came to visit you like all the rest. A final way through the wind to tell you that he hadn’t forgotten about you.
By the time you had finished telling the story of you and T’Challa’s friendship you had patched Shuri’s wound and set Okoye’s arm. The moon was high in the night sky letting you know that it was later in the night than you intended to keep your guests up.
“Alright,” You started with a clap of your hands. “We stay up any longer and I’m gonna run out of stories to tell.”
Shuri went to protest, she loved to listen to you talk and claimed she could do it for hours but you hushed her with a look. “I’ve only got one spare bedroom, blame New Orleans architecture. But it’s got two beds so you two are more than welcome to have that.”
Nakia mouthed a thank you to you, glad to have somewhere she knew was safe to rest her head for the night. Okoye just nodded at you, you could tell she had earned some amount of trust or at the minimum respect for you after listening to your story. The two women rose from their seats on the couch and made their way over to the open guest bedroom door.
“Now you,” You turned your attention back to Shuri who was clearly very sleepy. “You can take my bed and I’ll take the couch.”
“No, we will sleep together. In your bed.” Shuri declared, scrounging up her face and giving you a ‘what even made you think that wasn’t what was happening?’ look.
“You need all the space to stretch out tonight.” You retorted, giving Shuri a look of your own. One that said ‘you’ve lost your damn mind if you think I’m sleeping with you tonight.’
The Queen stood from her chair and did an exaggerated yawn holding her hand out to you. “Let's go.”
That was all it took for Shuri to get you into your bed with her. You followed her up your stairs and crawled under your plush covers aside from her. As you assumed she would, she laid her head on your breast and wrapped her arms around your waist. You had asked her once why she enjoyed sleeping in that position with you so much, to which she replied that it was because she could hear your heartbeat in her dreams if she slept still enough. You wrapped your free arm around her waist and rubbed circles into her skin until she fell asleep. Only when you were sure she was truly asleep and you felt sleep coming to get you too did you finally speak.
“Thank you for bringing her back to me.”
Shuri was pulled from her sleep when her hands realized they no longer were holding tight onto your waist. Before she opened her eyes to find you, she heard you. The sound was faint but she could hear you singing a Wakandan lullaby, one her mother had sung to her many times as a child. She opened her eyes and saw you sitting out on the balcony with your back to her. Moonlight backlit your body and the sound of your voice entered the room through a small crack you left in the door.
Light on her feet, Shuri made her way over to the doorframe so she could hear you better and watch you more intently. You were singing to the moon, the lullaby was a story about familial love. The song no doubt is a painful reminder for both you and Shuri about your former relationships with your respective families. When you finished, Shuri spoke softly to not scare you.
“How come you’ve never sung like that for me entle?”
You chuckled softly, you had already seen Shuri’s shadow so she didn’t alarm you when she finally decided to speak. “You should be in bed.”
“You should sing more often.”
You turned around and gave Shuri a look that only made her chuckle this time. She stepped out onto the balcony and sat down on the mat next to you. She leaned her head on your shoulder and you allowed it to rest there for a moment, savoring the sweet moment of silence between you and your love.
“Did he really tell you we were coming?” You noticed how whenever Shuri brought up her brother her voice got quiet as if she worried saying his name too loudly would disturb his memory.
You took Shuri’s hand in yours and interlaced your fingers. “Mhm, he always seems to bring you to me doesn't he.”
Shuri let out a small puff of air in agreement with what you said. “Can you tell me what it feels like again?”
You had answered this question for Shuri many times, trying to explain to her what it felt like when not only T’Challa spoke to you but any ancestor did. Any regular person would have found it annoying to continually answer the same question but you felt no burden obliging Shuri, especially when it was just you two being bathed in moonlight.
“With T’Challa he comes to me like a breeze, a warm summer breeze. He’s always brief, never staying for too long, just passing by and staying long enough to feel his presence.” You thought for a moment about how you could further describe what T’Challa’s company felt like to you but no more words came to you so you just wrapped your arm around Shuri’s waist and pulled her close to you. You pressed a kiss to Shuri’s cheek and gave her a sweet smile. “Thank you.” She said and you nodded, not needing any thanks at that moment, just happy you could give her some amount of peace of mind.
As you two sat there intertwined in each other and your own thoughts a breeze passed over you, smelling distinctly of sandalwood and ginger. A small nod from T’Challa signifying you had done well, you looked over at Shuri, and judging by the smile on her face you guessed she had felt it too.

Shuri Udaku x Fem!Reader
Genre: A bit of action, romance, fluff
Warnings: slightly mature language, a bit of kidnapping
Wordcount: 3011
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Summary: You decide to visit Wakanda and end up getting kidnapped by someone who tried to hack Griot but the badass bitch you are, you fight them off and teach T'Challa how to play a game. Shuri and you get closer.
A/n: this took me long enough ngl and I'm kinda happy but also kinda not but I still wanted to give you guys some content. Hope you enjoy it.
════════════════════════════════════════════
„Don’t you think we need some help from one of the avengers?“ asked M‘Baku T‘Challa while they were looking over some plans.
„They don’t prioritise issues around Wakanda, sadly.“ T‘Challa said, shrugging.
But right in that moment, T‘Challas kimoyo beads started to vibrate. He picked up and saw the projection of your head.
„Hey T’Challa my brother, I had the feeling you guys need help?“ smiled the girl at him and made the king laugh.
„Indeed, sisi. Someone stole some of Shuri‘s plans for vibranium weapons from us and they’re trying to recreate them and hack Griot. So someone should be near to spy on us, you know?“ he answered your question and made Shuri and M‘Baku nod.
„Okay, that sounds like quite a big issue. I’ll tell Tony about it and then come see you as soon as possible, okay?“ was the answer while you were already assigning jobs and tasks to people.
„And by the way, how’s my favourite princess doing?“, you asked while handing an assistant some files and T‘Challa pulled Shuri into sight. She only laughed and waved at her friend.
„Good to see that she’s okay. Okay, I’ll have a quick talk to Tony and then message you, yeah T’Challa?“ He nodded and hung up, only to tease Shuri about what just happened.
„Sisi, you’re her favourite princess. I’d be tomato-red if I were yo- oh.“
He looked into her face and realised-
She was tomato-red.
„Does little Shuri miss her so much?“ teased M‘Baku and made her blush even more.
She didn’t answer, was too scared that it would be obvious for her brother and his friend.
After some time, you and your assistant arrived and were greeted by the king, the Dora Milaje, the eldest of the Jibari tribe and T'Challa's mother and queen Ramonda. When the heroine left the jet, she greeted the king with the typical wakandan greeting.
You even learned that for your friends, living in America usually has its effect on people.
Your assistant, Marc, did the same and then you two went to have a little talk to T‘Challa where he informed you about the fact that Shuri is in her lab, if you as an Avenger want to check up on Griot.
When you were walking down the hallways, you even received a light smile from the general of the Dora Milaje, Okoye.
„Good to see you, Y/n. Shuri is still down in her lab.“
„Thank you, Okoye, good to see you too. I hope we can have a talk later tonight.“
You smile at the Dora Milaje and go further your way until you reached the lab, connecting your phone to Griot.
„Princess-“ started the AI to announce but you silenced it just to pull the princess by her waist in a warm and loving hug.
Shuri was very surprised about that but swung her arms around you.
„Hey.“
You gave her a smile when you let her go to what she muttered a small ‚hi‘ back and got comfortable in your presence.
„Are you okay, my friend?“ Asked the older one while eyeing everything she was working on right now.
„It just been a little tough, I’m all good.“ She answered and smiled.
„I’m here for a reason. People want to hack Griot?“ you revealed your matter of concern to her.
„Yeah! Let me show you. I don’t know why I’m not able to fix it but it smells like a bug.“ She explained and showed you the codes on her phone.
„That code looks faulty.“ You explained and started writing new components inside it, same as she scanned the other codes for security breaches and fixed them.
„I think Griot should be safe from hackers from now on, but we still we should find out who tries to get to him from outside the palace.“ You offered.
The questioning look on Shuri’s face told you that the princess didn’t know about this.
„Okay, look. Do you see this code here?“
„Yes! And I didn’t write it. Faulty codes don’t exist for me.“
The way the princess furrowed her brows told the avenger that she really has no idea where it came from.
„I know, someone tries to connect to Griot with modified kimoyo beads. Did you gave some to someone else?“ You asked her while going through all the options possible how someone would hack into the AI but Shuri just shook her head.
„Okay, I will have to talk to Okoye if she‘d be kind enough to send some of the Dora Milaje with me.” While you told her this you stuffed your iPhone back into your pocket and smiled at her.
„You look stunning today, princess. As always.“
The black girl just smiled and some blush crept into her face as she went in for a hug. You took her acceptingly into your arms and caressed her back.
After looking at her kimoyo beads she once again spoke up. “Are you staying for dinner? My brother asked if you want to eat with us.” And when she received a nod from you, she laughed and let you go.
On your way to Okoye you met Aneka and also had a short talk with her, mostly about Ayo and her, how she was doing and if she’s seen her general.
You and Aneka were getting along very well since you did a first visit in Wakanda and she definitely was some kind of best friend you had here.
She was amazing. Showed you around the country, introduced you to amazing people and you had a lot of fun with each other. She was also the one to introduce you to Shuri.
When she opened up to you about her relationship with Ayo she was extremely happy to meet your excited face when you hugged her with the words “I’m so proud of you!”
Little did she know that you also took a liking to women but never mentioned it, people should still be interested in you because of the good things you do and not because of the gender you like.
A bit further in time, you found Okoye in the throne room together with Ramonda and king T’Challa himself, explaining your suspicion to them.
“Then I will join you to make sure you’re not alone.” T’Challa agreed and looked at his mother as if he was waiting for approval which he, after all, got.
Together you once again went down into the lab and started to suit yourself. T’Challa was getting his last upgrades for the suit and you were just mentally preparing yourself with some meditation before you actually suited up.
“Are you ready to go?” now asked the king and meant you to which you agreed. “I’m totally ready” You laughed at him and took your weapon from one of Shuri’s desks and attached it to your leg.
T’Challa was waiting for you in the elevator while you said your goodbye to Shuri, who was now looking at you awaitingly.
You forgot the hug.
After a long time of searching around the city they decided to split up and look in the countryside, which wasn’t the best idea after all. Didn’t they both learn from what we see in horror movies?
I mean okay, T’Challa was safe with the Dora Milaje but the fact that you were alone because you insisted on them staying with their king was just hella stupid.
And you agreed to yourself.
“Stupid decision, Y/n, well done dumbass.” You said to yourself while kicking a rock into what it seemed to be bushes. You used your powers since no one was around to judge you except for the bush, that made a little pained noise.
“Eh- what the fuck, am I mental?” The green scrub moved around and two red eyes focused you.
“Oh holy shit!” came a screech from you as you jumped away from hit. “What the fuck are you now?” It was more of an ironical question because the red eyes implied that the creature you accidentally awoke wasn’t really happy about exactly this. Grabbing a stick that lay next to you, you tried to “defend” yourself with this and waved it back and forth in front of its face.
But the bush’s reaction wasn’t what you thought would happen. “And you call yourself an avenger? You don’t even recognise a villain when he’s standing right in front of you!”
The scales fell from your eyes. You and T’Challa were looking for someone who tried to hack Griot and was a little tech-genius but this creature looked nowhere like this.
All you could do was give the thing a questioning look and hold your stick up high but he slapped it away like nothing.
“You’re not scared? Good, because you’re coming with me.” The person or thing chuckled and pulled you into them with arms that were covered in leaves. The laugh echoed through your head when you tried to get free from the bush with arms and feet, throwing punches here and there and wiggling around like a worm but their hold was firm and strong.
You bet your screaming was heard miles away, loud cries for help when your kidnapper muffled them with some duct tape with which he glued your mouth shut and - as fast as he could - tied your hands together so you wouldn’t be able to use your powers.
You could’ve facepalmed yourself when you remembered that you actually had those powers but couldn’t really use them now. Why were you this clumsy that you forgot about this? It was a misery.
T’Challa was wearing his panther suit just as if it was his daily outfit and that’s what made him hear your scream, his super sensitive panther ears.
He shot up from his crouching position where he was investigating some footprints and looked alarmed around, especially to Okoye and Aneka. They heard the scream too and Okoye was the one to confirm that it was you. As soon as the king saw her nod, he started running, followed close behind by his guards and made his way to your position.
But you were gone.
The only hint he got were the leaves on the ground which they started following.
Your opponent definitely wasn’t afraid of your wiggle in their arms when he pulled his hood off, revealing a man with a beard and the same red eyes that shocked you the first time.
Another man joined him and they laughed before covering your eyes, exchanging a few whispered words that sounded like “I hope the king and princess come get their little special guardian.”
Good for you that your ears were still functioning perfectly but you whished that you could’ve warned Shuri and her brother before they’d fall into the trap just like you did.
And T’Challa wanted to help you but he simply couldn’t because there wasn’t anything expect for the trail of leaves that stopped right in front of him.
His hands brushed over his face and he signed.
“How am I going to tell Shuri?”
“Brother, where is Y/n?” The female spoke as he entered the lab without the avenger by his side and immediately feel guilt spring up in the pit of his stomach.
“I lost her, Sisi.” His head hung low and he didn’t look her in the eye because he was totally aware of the feelings the princess cherished for the other female but his instinct told him that she instantly was worried.
“Listen, Sisi, I’m so sorry. We need to find her.” He exclaimed and took a halt next to her to see if she was furrowing her brows, which she did.
But Shuri was a genius in every way, of course she gave you kimoyo beads. It was easy for her to locate them. She flicked switches and swished her hands up and down on the holographic screen until she stopped.
“The beads are in Tokyo, Japan.” She announced while checking a few stats like your health data and if you were conscious or not, which disappointed her, because you were not. She was worried, hell was she worried about you.
Ever since you came back to Wakanda you were all she could think of, every time she was working on something you came to her mind and she wasn’t able to focus anymore. It’s like a curse and she firstly didn’t know why she would feel this fuzzy and comfy inside every time she saw you but soon she realised, what it was.
The feelings got worse but she never took the chance to confess them to you, which might end to her dismay. All along, when she told her brother he wanted to encourage her about giving it a go and telling you about it but she always refused to, thinking you might not reciprocate and break her heart.
Shuri was always very reserved when it came to her feelings. She buried them deep inside her and she was sure that she wasn’t going to let them out soon but to be honest, T’Challa had her thinking about a confession more than usual. And right in this moment, she regretted not telling you.
Who knows if she’ll ever see you again?
But the amazing brother he was and the fact that he basically had to help you out made T’Challa light up and give out commands to the general.
“Sisi, I’ll find her, I promise.” His smile was wide and true when he opened his arms for his sister to hug him, which she gladly did while muttering a small “thank you.”
But little did he know that you were stronger than what he thought of you since he never worked with you, only met you on a couple of meetings. He didn’t see you in action and he also didn’t know that you were kind of a hot-headed person that would break everything in pieces if someone would enrage you.
Yes, that’s what he indeed saw when he arrived in Tokyo, exactly at the location where Shuri last saw your Kimoyo beads. But the fun thing was that the house you seemingly stayed in was simply blown up. There were bits and pieces of concrete, corpses laying around but T’Challa still hadn’t the slightest idea of what happened and felt a bit guilty.
But when you rounded the corner, wiping some dust off your shoulder, he laughed.
“Something in my face?”, you asked amused.
“Now I know why you’re a part of the Avengers.” He gave you the same smile Shuri saw just some time ago and took you into his arms.
“Glad you’re alright.”
“You shouldn’t worry about me, maybe worry about them.” A chuckle left your lips as you pointed to one of the (almost) dead guards and made him laugh even more.
“Let’s get back home, someone’s waiting for you in Wakanda.” He hinted and you basically assumed it to be Tony Stark, your “supervisor” or what he called himself. But he was just the guy that gave you one of his flats in exchange for you being an Avenger (but mostly because Fury requested it).
The flight was pretty calm and you taught the king how to play UNO!, which was one of your favourite games on long road trips in your childhood. He was fairly amused even though the fact that he wasn’t able to win against you and asked for more and more rounds. He was the brother you never had but always wished for.
The moment where he played his last card and won the game, he told you that you both had to talk about something rather important.
“Are you single?” His sheepish smile was a little anxious, as if he feared the answer the same way his sister did. But your nod made him sigh happily.
“What about Nakia, my king? I thought you still had that liking for her?” You asked, relatively unbothered by his personal question. “Nakia? Oh! No! It’s not for me, it’s for-“
‘Don’t pass on more than she needs to know, T’Challa, don’t.’ He thought to himself.
“-A friend. Yeah, a friend. They were wondering if you’re still on the market.”
And another nod made him the almost happiest man on the planet right now. His sister had an actual chance of courting you.
“Tell them I’m not single but not free, expensive girls, you know?” You smiled to show him appreciation and that he wasn’t too bold with the question.
Shuri had an chance.
And what of a chance she had.
The arrival was pretty common and usual for you, since coming back from missions mostly looked like the team greeting you and being happy about the succeed and even Ramonda took a liking to you so she had to hug you and show you how happy she was about your return.
Shuri was late again since she caught herself up into work as long as you weren’t around but when she got the message that you and her brother returned safely from the mission, she sped up and ran to the hangar, just to greet you.
You looked a little exhausted but still amazing and how she missed you, how she missed the feeling of your arms around her. She started to run into your arms just so that you could catch her and laugh.
While you were having your arms around her waist, she breathed your scent in and let it sink into her core. Here arms were dangling around your neck and her body was warm on yours.
‘This your “friend”?’ you mouthed to T’Challa who just shot you a little smile and left the scenery.
Yes, that’s his “friend”. And how proud he was of himself the entire day after he heard that you spent the night with Shuri-
You could’ve read it off of his face. He was so happy for his sister and knew that you’d take care of her.
Yes, you would. No matter what’d happen.
