100% Peruvian Wool (ao3) - Corsets_and_Cardigans bucky/steve/tony G, 206
Summary: Alpine is lucky she's cute.
Arts and Crafts and Homicide (ao3) - Frea_O clint/natasha T, 1k
Summary: Clint blames Maria for introducing Natasha to knitting. The odds are good that he’s going to get a sweater as a gift. Why is he so bothered by that?
A Very Reliable Magic (ao3) - dixiehellcat background pepper/tony G, 3k
Summary: “Hap? What…are you doing?”
Happy Hogan shoved his reading glasses farther down his nose and peered over them at Tony. “What’s it look like?”
“Um, if I had to venture a guess, I’d say wrangling a spider by one leg?”
The chauffeur glanced down at the needles and yarn in his lap. “Okay, yeah, I can see that.” When his boss folded him arms and stood as though in a huff, he sighed and said, “I’m knitting, boss.”
--- Happy shares a hobby with Tony who, being Tony, takes it to new heights.
Baby Alpaca Love Letters (ao3) - FestiveFerret steve/tony T, 5k
Summary: Someone is leaving beautiful, perfect, warm, soft, knitted gifts for Tony, and he'd really like to know who. And why.
Colorwork (ao3) - Astaraiche steve/bucky G, 1k

How Bucky Barnes Became The Sock Fairy (ao3) - Maia_saura steve/bucky G, 2k
Summary: It started out with Steve. Everything always did.
Inappropriate Knitting (ao3) - Stella_Malodi darcy/steve T, 1k
Summary: (Or: In Which Darcy Sows Chaos And Pulls Out Her Knitting)
“Ooh, you’ve got a vein-thingy on your temple. I didn’t know that could happen in real life. You should probably see a doctor or something.”
Captain Eyepatch actually growled!
“Chill out, dude. To answer your questions, I’m Darcy Lewis, Scientist Wrangler extraordinaire. I’m in your office because I was looking for wayward scientists, and I was knitting because you were busy yelling at each other.” She paused thoughtfully, then added, “Also, I find it amusing to knit at somewhat inappropriate times.”
Knit and Purl (ao3) - Six2VII sam/bucky G, 5k
Summary: Bucky has recently retired and joined a knitting circle.
Knitting (ao3) - hallieCB3 scott/hope G, 1k
Summary: Hope van Dyne has a hobby.
Knitting (ao3) - Moonandstars_fics bucky/sam G, 1k
Summary: Steve knits his adopted niece, Morgan Stark, an Elephant and gives it to her.
knitting for beginners (ao3) - theladyscribe G, 1k
Summary: The piece is about six inches wide, a little uneven on the sides, with a dozen or so rows completed. The last row stops halfway, and a stitch is on the very tip of one needle, ready to fall. Steve briefly considers undoing the scarf and fixing the dropped stitches but decides it's rude to do so without permission. The knitting is gone when he passes through the living room later that evening, and he promptly forgets about it.
Needle Arts (ao3) - Sholio T, 1k
Summary: Peggy discovers an unexpected talent in one of her coworkers. Or, the one in which Jack learns to knit.
Only Just One Time (ao3) - monkiainen steve/tony G, 1k
Summary: Tony knits, but he does not want anyone to know about it. Although he's pretty sure he saw Steve knitting once, but it was probably a hallucination. Or was it?
The Health Benefits of Knitting (ao3) - Niobium G, 1k
Summary: Clint isn't sure what's really relieving Natasha's stress—the knitting, or the part where she foists the horrible results off on other people.
The Sweater Curse (ao3) - innerslumber steve/bucky T, 5k
Summary: Darcy looked at the pattern he had on his lap and then stared at him in horror. “Bucky, are you insane? Have you not heard of the Sweater Curse?”
Bucky’s eyebrows flew up in surprise at Darcy’s comment. “The Sweater Curse? What’s that?”
“Holy shit, how can you not have heard of it? It’s when you make a sweater for a significant other and they dump you. Are you trying to get dumped by Steve?”
-----------------
Or: Bucky knits Steve a cable knit sweater.
Unwound (ao3) - panofcheese bucky/tony G, 6k
Summary: 5+1+several other times Bucky knitted something for someone that usually isn't Tony but sometimes is, and one time Tony was Sick Of It.
(because I couldn't stick to my fic outline, sue me)
---
Alternatively,
Somebody in the tower is knitting things, everybody in the tower is having a laugh at Tony's expense, and Tony Stark has Had Enough.
Yarn Over Heels (ao3) - Reioka G, 1k
Summary: Everyone stumbles onto The Stash at some point. They all have different reactions. (Tony shows he cares by making things.)

Summary:
WHAT A PHENOMENAL GAME!!! Truly what a great “conclusion” to the main trilogy. You learn so much about Layton, Luke, flora, and many other characters like don paolo. The ending reveal of Clive was CRAZY. It really reminded me of movies like howls moving castle/the iron giant. I also just love how complex Clive is. He was driven to violence because of how the government treated him and his family, but he never truly wanted to hurt people. He was without any hope and thought mass destruction would finally bring some change to the government, but he also made sure to include Layton in his plans because he so desperately wanted someone to stop him. It’s tragic and terrorism definitely wasn’t the way to go but at least this is a fictional story and that death machine looked kinda sick Ngl. The story of Layton and Claire was also so tragic yet so healing. Layton could finally take off his hat without feeling grief, you never would’ve known he was hurting that much. I loved Claire, she seemed like such an amazing person and I’m glad Layton wasn’t swayed to try to bring her back, although he did falter when he had to say goodbye again. Although I highly enjoyed the game, I am slightly disappointed there was no actual evil Layton. How fun would a game with evil Layton be omg. The whole game constantly caught me by surprise, even by small scenes like Beasly and PUZZLETTE. I’m still a littel confused about the lab experiments with Gumbo and subject 3, I’m not quire sure why they added that plot (and have no resolution) but I liked Gumbo fine. My favorite coin animal will always be hot dog though. I cannot recommend this series enough, I am having the time of my life. I can also see how DGS was heavily inspired by these games and im so glad about it bc dgs was game changing. I can’t believe there was a 26 year wait in between UF and NWOS but im glad to be a Layton fan :’) so fucking glad!!!!

Please ignore if this isn't welcome, but if you're looking for a way to feel the harsh feelings you need to and do the thinking you need to without it eating you alive I have advice. As someone who really struggles after breakups I reccomend picking up a sewing pattern. Value Village or local thrift stores usually have a few on hand, 50s and 60s dresses are especially good t-girl clothes. Figuring out how to read a pattern and sew and unfamiliar piece of clothing takes up just enough brainpower that you end up microdosing processing between it. Chances are if you're not an experienced seamstress what you make will not be great but it'll be fun/funny to show to your friends. And, once you're done, you'll have unwound the knot from this breakup at least a little bit.
this is really nice advice. ive been trying to pick up my guitar a little more often, lose myself in video games. crocheting is on the docket for some point in the near future. so is miniature painting. i do have hobbies i just need to...... do them

Professor Rattmann and the Rewound Future
This post will include full-game spoilers for Professor Layton and the Unwound Future, as well as mild spoilers for Portal, Portal 2, Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy, and Layton Brothers: Mystery Room. There might be some spoilers for Perpetual Testing Initiative, Aperture Tag, Portal Stories: Mel, and basically any other assorted Portal and Professor Layton games.
There will also be discussions of abuse, death, manipulation, implied torture, and a whole heaping of other triggering subjects. Viewers, have discretion. It's advised.
With that, let's get into a longform description of my au, shall we?
This plot has three time periods. We will refer to them as PAST (P), NOW (N), and FUTURE (F). Let's start with the Past.
PAST:
10 years prior to NOW, there were four people working together on a project. These people were as follows: Caroline Davis, her brother Greg Davis, Cave Johnson, and Henry Peters. Greg wasn't really involved here outside of being the guy who runs for supplies and whatever, while Caroline, Henry, and Cave were working on their project quite frequently.
(At the same time, Caroline was dating Doug Rattmann, a local graduate school student a bit younger than her. This will be important later.)
The project was nearing completion when Henry suggested that they test it on a live subject, and after a discussion between the main trio of developers, they decided to test it on Caroline, as they would have multiple investors at the testing to prove their device worked as planned.
Unfortunately for everyone involved, the machine created was rushed, and instead of working, it exploded inside the laboratory they had set up, at the edge of campus near an apartment complex. With the explosion, the apartment and the lab were destroyed. Henry and Cave barely survived, while Doug tried to rescue others after arriving late. Greg was nowhere to be found at the time.
In the apartment complex that exploded were two other important characters: Grant Wilner and Nigel Parkersberg. Grant's mother was killed in the explosion, while Nigel's parents and sisters were caught in the blast as well. Nigel and Grant were rescued by Doug, while very few others survived.
The two boys and Doug grew closer to each other, and Doug eventually adopted the two boys, taking care of them while they adjusted to the new situation. At the same time, Doug sought after any information about the machine the quartet was making, as well as looking for any information about the others involved.
This is when things got worse much quicker than before: While in the midst of his investigation, Doug was attacked. He fell into a coma for a while afterward, but his research was stolen, and even worse-- Grant and Nigel were abducted.
Though he kept looking, neither the boys nor his research showed. After a while, he put that on the back burner, focusing instead on his studies. He became a professor of art and archeology, teaching other students about the subjects. (Archeology was his actual profession, but his art was his passion instead. As well as puzzles, of course.)
After nine or so years, Doug took on an apprentice-- Marcel Wheatley, a young boy with a very bright mind-- and helped Rick Harris, another young boy without a family to rely on. Doug adopted Rick in all but name, unwilling to replace his old children with another, but still caring for him as much as he could. During a few earlier investigations, they met with Cave, discovering he had learned disguises and slipped into a life of crime. As well, they met Michael, Marcel's older brother, and a few others who may show up. I'll introduce them when they do come up.
That brings us to the next part of the story...
NOW/FUTURE (It's time travel, sorry):
With Marcel and Rick by his side, Doug felt that things were looking up. However, that was when a letter found its way to his mailbox: A letter from Grant. Of course, still missing his children, Doug promptly tried to follow the instructions there in order to reunite. This led the trio to a small clock shop where a few people were waiting-- one of which was Virgil Steinback, Grant's boyfriend. There, Virgil told them what had happened that led Grant to reach out:
Ten years in the future, Doug became a tyrannical ruler of their city. Instead of focusing on the family he had made, he instead focused solely on bringing Caroline back. The city and people suffered, and eventually, all that was left to fight was the small group that he had brought together.
The idea of time travel seemed impossible, but instead of explaining, Virgil showed them the way they did it, involving the clock shop. On the other end, someone else was waiting: An older version of Marcel.
F!Marcel led them back to the hideout he was using, where a group of people were staying. To be specific, the group there was F!Rick, F!Grant, F!Marcel, F!Michael, F!Virgil, F!Nigel, and F!Cave. This is where the first explanation of what happened comes out:
After Marcel's apprenticeship ended, Doug drew away from Rick and Marcel before suddenly disappearing at the end of the school year. A few years later, a bunch of scientists were abducted, one-by-one. One day, someone reported a sighting of Doug Rattmann-- in the same place that one of the scientists went missing the next day. His name was linked to a rise in crime in the city, as things worsened. People tried their best to understand, but the troubles continued instead.
Cave was the last person who saw Doug in a peaceful situation when Doug came to his house late at night. Doug requested his help and warned him that things were going to get worse. He asked Cave to find Marcel and Rick and keep them safe. Since then, they haven't seen him except while fighting.
Doug's power in the criminal world grew, and he eventually took over the city. Grant and Nigel found the others, staying with them after they exchanged information: Those two were involved in the criminal world since their abduction, being trained to take over for a different crime boss. They escaped at last and found the people on their side-- those who wanted to take down the regime here.
This obviously is a bit scary to the "Now" Team. With this knowledge, though, they're dragged into the situation as they try to take down the evil regime ruling the city, despite the person at the head being Doug himself.
~
So. Other than this, there's a little bit more to talk about-- all the characters, obviously, but also some of the timeline stuff. I'll happily explain more when it comes up, or at least when I have the energy (and when my head stops hurting.) For now, though, I'm happy just to post this much :) Hope it makes sense so far!

Well I finished Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright! That was a hell of a ride. I hope my posting about it wasn’t Too Much heh.
Final thoughts below (mostly just for me to sort them out but hey) (also I spoil the first 3 Layton games too I’m sorry):
The mystery as a whole kinda disappointed me? And I feel bad for saying that since the world-building and lore was so heavy, but I think that was to its detriment at times. It was all SO much in order to make anything make sense. I really really loved the first half of this game, since it felt like we could reasonably solve the mystery within the world around us and play within the established rules of this particular world (i.e., one where magic and witches do exist). The information we got felt like it was gradually building to something, and I was excited to see what would happen and see if I could figure it out. With the latter half, all the intrigue was kind of stripped from the first half. Kira’s not dead, Layton wasn’t turned into gold, Maya’s fine, and in fact, except for Belduke (and well, the town ages ago), no one died at all. The main mystery requires that everything you experienced was false, but in a way that made it seem like all those events had no weight to them in the end. And in doing so, the reality of the situation is less interesting and far more convoluted than what was presented to you in the first half.
Now you may be saying, “You fool, Layton games often end with the deconstruction of the supposedly supernatural setting they’re in! And Ace Attorney exists within the normal realms of society for the most part (minus spirit channeling but ya know),” and yeah sure, you’re absolutely right about that. But the thing is, sometimes the twist in Layton games is done well (Curious Village, Unwound Future) and sometimes it’s not (....Diabolical Box (I’m sorry! I don’t like the twist in this one, even if the rest of the game is enjoyable)). The reason I like the twists in the Curious Village and the Unwound Future is because while both times you do prove the town is fake, everything still builds to something else that is real. Flora was still in the tower and the mystery had to be solved for her, and Clive set the trap in motion for a reason. The falsity of those locations builds to a more interesting purpose in the end. It replaces your initial understanding of the circumstances with another more interesting circumstance (e.g. “Oh we need to find the Golden Apple” to “Oh shit, robots” and “Oh no we’ve traveled to the future” to the very real threat of “Oh no this guy kidnapped a bunch of scientists and this OTHER guy is using him as a pawn to enact his revenge”). The latter half is more interesting than the first half. With the Diabolical Box, the time spent in Folsense felt a little more wasted because it was all a hallucination (one that occurred on VERY loose grounds in my opinion) and to me, a hallucination that even the main culprit is unaware of is less interesting than a mystery town with a vampire. In Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright, I don’t know if I can say that the MASSIVE effort to keep up the illusion of this town served to tell a more interesting story than one where witches and magic do exist, especially since the reasoning behind creating the town was.....a lot, to say the least. The real reason for the town existing isn’t NOTHING but I don’t know if I 100% like it.
I kinda figured magic existing in this world would be fine since this game doesn’t seem the most canon. And I’d honestly prefer it, since it could have led to a more cohesive story, but oh well.
In all honesty, the ending was just so much to take in, and half the revelations weren’t anything we could have predicted without the people responsible just ADMITTING it through a ton of exposition. Like not only was Labyrinthia a research facility, but it was set up for Espella so she wouldn’t have to deal with her trauma, and also Darklaw is Espella’s childhood friend Eve, and also the town has been hypnotized to not see the pure black machinery that is responsible for the “magic” in town, and also the Shades are witches and victims that are alive and well, and also Shades can mess with people’s memories with silver by making people unconscious because everyone has a condition that makes them do that because of the water, and also pamphlets at the parades were used to hypnotize them more, and also Eve was rewriting the story, and also Espella rang the bell (except no she didn’t, Eve did), and also The Storyteller has an incurable disease, except no there’s a wonder drug for it now, it’s fine. And perhaps if this were all revealed gradually throughout the game it would be fine, but this was all basically revealed in the last trial. And as a result, it’s hard to feel like you have a decent grasp of everything.
The game reaaalllyyy wanted me to be sympathetic towards the Storyteller and well....I am not. Also Eve Belduke did nothing wrong (she did a few things wrong but I sympathize with her because wow. WOW).
Barnham was done so dirty, oh my goodness. I had to think about how I felt about certain parts of the game more than others, but one thing I knew IMMEDIATELY when finishing was that this guy had so much potential and it was squandered. He started to become really interesting after Maya’s trial (especially since he felt guilty over her situation and started to question his role as an Inquisitor a bit, what with his talk about his duty in protecting the town) and we even saw him spy on Darklaw and the Shades. And then they just....sent him to the dungeon. And he wasn’t seen til the ending cutscene. They could have done SO much more with him. I thought for the longest time, “No way are they going to build up his character like that and then throw him away. He’ll probably come back somehow.” Like I thought he and Greyerl were gonna plan an escape heist haha. Turns out I’m the fool here. I wish he had more connection to the main mystery. Perhaps his character arc could have been made more satisfying then.
Honestly pleasantly surprised with how much Layton + Luke and Phoenix + Maya worked together as a group. I didn’t know how that would work out but I liked their dynamics.
I enjoyed how trials and investigations were balanced, and how elements from both Ace Attorney and Professor Layton were incorporated. The puzzles were very fun in this game!!
It was really cool seeing elements from this game that were later carried over to others. For instance, having multiple witnesses and pursuing them based on their reactions to other pieces of testimony was something I didn’t know originated with this game. Always thought it was only a Great Ace Attorney thing. Cool to find out otherwise!
The middle of this game (basically after Greyerl’s trial) was pretty dark! I’m surprised they went in that direction with what I first thought would be a wholly delightful crossover featuring Gentleman Puzzle Man. But it was a welcome surprise because I was heavily invested, especially since some really heavy stakes were established (until they weren’t lol). I made the very Wrong deduction that in order to get Layton and Maya back, we’d have to convince the Storyteller to rewrite the story to bring them back somehow, or rely on time travel bullshit. And well. It does not happen like that.
This game’s music is outstanding. I don’t know if it’s my favorite but it’s definitely up there (tbh though, it’s a difficult mountain to climb to get anywhere near TGAA2′s soundtrack). The pursuit theme is one of my favorites now, too. One of my favorite parts of playing AA games is first hearing what the pursuit themes sound like, and when I first heard this one I was SO impressed.
Overall I liked this game, even though there were definite problems towards the end. The ending severely tanked its standing in my ranking of AA games unfortunately (I’m sorry :( I value good endings) but I still enjoyed playing it.
#this....was longer than i anticipated lol#this ain't spoiler free by any means#i mostly wrote this for me#but you can read it too haha#thoughts tag

Actually right now is the perfect time to finish T&T since I’m sick in bed nfdjlsfnds
I plan to play unwound future after T&T, that’s not budging, but what do y’all recommend I play next: AAI 1 & 2, PLvsPW, or AA4?
I need to play aa4-6 on my 3ds before the hd version comes out so I can directly compared how bad the 5-6 models and animation are jgfkelgln
#I’m at this weird spot where all three of those games can be played after aa3/unwound future and I’ve heard great things about all of them#I want to meet Apollo and klavier but I also want to meet Kay and Sebastian but I also want to understand why Phoenix and maya are baking#I own all of those games already so getting the game isn’t an issue! (except for aai 2 which I will just YouTube or smth)#ace attorney

implausible layton/ace attorney crossover concept: so the events of tgaa take place around the late 1890s, most commonly portrayed as either 1896 or 1899 due to in-game stuff. according to this timeline, the bulk of the layton games takes place around the 1960s, meaning that iris is most likely still alive! new headcanon that iris was a professor at gressenheller while layton was studying there to get his phd. while the university is mostly known for the history department iris is there to teach bio and stuff. they were briefly coworkers but she retired shortly afterwards (because at that point she’d be like. 70-ish)
#ace attorney#professor layton#iris wilson#hershel layton#plvspw#technically#if plvspw is canon then that means that the pl games can't take place in the 60s because plvspw is set after the#unwound future game i think#so to line up with it taking place sometime around t&t the layton games would also have to have been in the 2010s#but i digress#also shoutout to the person who made the layton timeline

Summary:
I did not expect to start sobbing when i finished this game. The whole story was so fun and unique, I loved how we traveled to new places in this game. It's a very sad story but with a very heart-warming end. The art and animation was stunning and so fun, just like in Curious Village. I love that Don Paolo is just there, basically just a red herring trying to mess with Layton. I also wish Flora was in the story more instead of just being used to bring Don Paolo back. I really enjoyed the puzzles again but I def struggled a lot more with Curious Villages' puzzles. There were hard puzzles for sure but I think they were just the kind of puzzles I'm good at. I also liked the new bonus mini games... except for the hamster, I hate that rodent. Why does he sound like that he scared me and ruined beautiful moments of me admiring the scenery. But the camera was really fun to construct and the differences puzzles were genuinely really hard. I constantly struggled to find the last difference. I also loved the tea puzzle, it was so unique and it fit the Layton theme incredibly well. I love how each character has a lot of personality and how there's always more to learn about Layton and Luke. Layton is a great sword fighter??? And the shrouded origins of Luke and Layton's relationship. I cannot wait to play more and see what else the story surprises me with!

Future! Flora sprites!
What if there was a future Flora alongside future Luke in unwound future? A young sophisticated lady with a pretty smile. After all the years, she still has the same taste for dresses and boots but changed her hairstyle a little bit. The ponytail and bow felt a little too childish to her she said.
Rarely seen without her gloves and hat. Perhaps she was influenced by her friends who all wear hats? Who knows.
I just adore how she looks in the official style. She has so incredibly big eyes... like a deer 👉👈
I referenced and edited Flora to look like her but still ended up redrawing most of them. The hand and arm poses are entirely different for example. I used multiple ladies. The sad one was a reference to Katia. The calm one a mix of Janice and Arianna. The surprised one is entirely Flora, I wanted to keep simmilarities. After all Clive has a lot of simmilar sprites to Luke too!
