It had been nearly a week since his abject apology. Longer since Bruce had first suspected Selina was displeased with him, longer since she had sent him- concussed and hurting and confused -to the cold of the couch, longer since he had began reaching out, heart troubled and dismayed as he began to question and overthink and worry.

By the time she would even let him admit to her what he had done- and he wasn't completely certain what that was, only certain what he felt guilty of -there was no relief, only tension tight enough to ache.

It showed in how he stood awkwardly before her. Standing in a modified parade rest which only did him the favor of hiding how white-knuckled his hands were, gripping one wrist in the other hand. The other grasping a slim playing card between its fingers.

"Selina," he began. Paused. "Love," Bruce started again. "I'm... sorry for my abrupt departure. Talia," he winced, unsure if it was wise to mention her, "and I needed to discuss our son, and there was Jason...his pregnancy..."

He trailed off. "I'm sorry. I meant to talk to you sooner."

Bruce had narrowed his guilt to pinpoints: the matter of the card, his son's pointed reprimand that Selina would prefer the truth and of course, the gunman in the room, the truth itself. Holding him metaphorically hostage.

He fidgeted with the playing card behind his back, waiting for Selina's assent before even considering continuing.

Chapter 1: Departure

One month later, the entirety of Teyvat now knows of the gold stained arrow, and after gathering the necessary supplies for travel, several search parties are being mobilized towards the land mass that seemed to appear overnight.

In Mondstadt, the knights' reconnaissance crew was being mobilized as well as the Adventurers' Guild.

Jean: Do you understand your mission?

Eula: Crystal clear ma'am, find their grace and bring them back safely.

Jean: Good, I want you to set off as soon as you're prepared.

Eula nods and exits the acting grand master's office before running into Mika.

Mika: Everyone's been prepped ma'am, we're just waiting for the provisions and other supplies to be brought onto the ship. We should be able to depart within a few hours.

Eula: Thank you, Mika. Let's go wait with the others then.

Meanwhile, at the Adventurers' Guild. A certain boy was fighting for a spot on the ship.

Bennett: Come on, you can't expect me to stay here when an entire island appeared overNighy.

Adventurer: No, I don't want your bad luck anywhere near me or my team, not on land, and certainly not at sea. You're staying here.

Cyrus: Oh? Who said that choice was yours to make?

Adventurer: C-Captain Cyrus, but this boy, he's cursed. There's no other way to explain it. He'd be putting everyone in danger if he went.

Cyrus: Danger? Danger comes with the job kid, and you clearly haven't been paying attention. Ever since their grace smiled upon him, his bad luck seems to disappear whenever they're involved, so I say he's going.

The adventurer fell silent in the face of his commanders argument.

Bennett: T-Thank you, Captain Cyrus. I swear I won't let you down.

With that, Bennett rushes to the guild ship, happy as can be.

Fischl: Once again, this boy's fate changes quite sporadically.

Oz: I'm quite sure it's just his luck being better when their grace are involved.

Fischl: Doth mine ears deceive, or are you proclaiming that the being of creation and power is in no way tied to fate's hands?

Oz: N-Not at all Mein Fraulein .

In Inazuma, the ace detective makes his move.

Heizou: Is everything ready for departure?

Soldier: Yes, we can set sail whenever you're ready.

Heizou: Very good. Prepare to set sail!

Meanwhile, below deck, there seems to be an uninvited passenger.

Itto: Alright, snuck aboard and they're non the wiser.

The oni's thoughts were interrupted as he was pulled aside.

Shinobu: What do you think you're doing?

Itto: I'm going to help find their grace, then people will have to stop looking down on the Arataki Gang, or at least stop bad mouthing you guys.

Shinobu: You idiot, you're going to get thrown in jail again or killed.

Itto: Oh, you don't think I can handle this alone, so you're coming along for the ride.

Shinobu: I am not joining this adventure, I'm stopping it and bringing you back.

Itto: Well, if that's the case, then how come the boat's already moving?

Shinobu: What?

Gazing out the nearest window, Shinobu finds Itto's words to be true. Seems she is in for quite the headache.

In Sumeru, theAkademiya gathers their scholars.

Nahida: There aren't going to be that many fighters outside of a few mercenaries, so you should go help them alright.

These words echoed in the Wanderer's head as he heads toward Port Ormos, where he encounters the rest of the expedition group.

Tighnari: Oh. I didn't expect to see you here.

Wanderer: I was brought along as extra muscle. What about these two?

Kaveh: The scholars have theorized that due to their grace's mental state at the time of the islands appearance, there may be a few differences that need to be studied to properly explore this new land.

Faruzan: With my linguistic knowledge and our combined mechanical prowess, there shouldn't be anything too difficult there.

Tighnari: Don't sound so sure of yourself. Remember, this is a god of creation we're talking about. Even our most esteemed scholars may not be enough.

Kaveh: Anyway. We're just waiting on the hired mercenaries. They are coming all the way from the dessert, but they should be here soon.

A few hours later.

Dehya: Hey. I recognize you lot from that interdarshan thing, so I'm guessing I'm in the right place.

Wanderer: Hmm? And you are?

Dehya Huh? Oh, right. Aside from Tighnari, we've never properly met. The name's Dehya, I'm the leader of the mercenaries you hired, pleasure to be doing business with you.

Wanderer: Is everything ready now?

Tighnari: Yeesh! You're a prickly one, but yes, as soon as everyone is on board, we can....

Wanderer doesn't let him finish before walking away, wanting this to be over with already.

Kaveh: (Sigh) This is going to be a long trip.

In Liyue, there were two individuals meeting at Wangshu Inn.

Zhongli: So, you are seeking permission to depart from Liyue to investigate this "demonic presence"?

Xiao: Yes. This demonic presence poses a threat, not to you, but their grace fled, suggesting they are in a weakened state.

Zhongli: Very well. If that is the case, you may depart as soon as you're able. One more thing, you seem troubled. Why is that?

Xiao: I'm just confused. Why would their grace flee only to put themself in more danger?

Zhongli: I believe you've answered your own question earlier. They are in a weakened state, so it is unlikely that this island was created, but more likely, it was summoned. As for why this one in particular. I can't imagine they were in the best state of mind when fleeing for their life, so thinking would have been difficult. This place must have been fresh in their mind for one reason or another.

With their conversation over, Xiao departs for Liyue harbor, where numerous milileth soldiers and Xiangling were preparing to depart aboard the Alcor.

Note: Sorry if Liyue's section feels rushed compared to the others, even after leaving this, taking a nap, and continuing afterwards, I was just barely able to finish Xiao and Zhongli's meeting, but I hope you enjoyed this despite this glaring issue. he´ll bring you some self made smoothies and makes sure you´ll keep up with the beauty routine he made for you

it was less you got stabbed and more you got impaled by one of his arrows

yeah he didn´t expect you to move so suddenly and he accidentally hit you in the shoulder

he was just glad he didn´t hit anything important and a relatively safe place, he even offered to remove the arrow himself

and honestly you would rather visit the nurse than trust Rook with helping you, who knows what he would do

but at least you just needed a couple of bandages and a bit of rest and your good to go

and maybe stay away from Rook for a little while

everybody knows it´s an accident because if he wanted you dead he could have killed you but he´ll no doubt stress you so that´s the reason

which meant you had two Shrouds who were just panicking while you just sat there bleeding and wondering what you did to deserve this

actually you know plenty of things you did to deserve this so maybe it was deserved

while both of them were wondering what they could do with you, you managed to find a first aid kit and patched yourself up to the best of your ability

it´s no surprise that a Robot and a tech bro wouldn´t know what to do with a hurt Human

I don`t know why and for what reason, but I wanted to write something for Rook, so here we are. 27.“I didn’t ask you to do that” “You didn’t have to”

Studying in one of the most successful educational institutions definitely had its advantages. At least it gave more chances for a stable future. You were guided by this and a couple of other personal reasons, while submitting documents and subsequently preparing for admission here.

Night Raven College was famous for its centuries-old traditions. Moreover, it had a separate building for technomages. So why they did not bother to modernize the method of transporting students? You thought, rubbing your temples and holding back your dizziness. The body still remembered fear and surprise. It wasn't every day that a carriage hits you. It wasn't every day that you reacquaint yourself with the world leaving the coffin.

It wasn't every day you see a classic boring entrance ceremony interrupted by a sea of fire and a talking cat. Especially the talking cat.

Is it too late to pick up the documents and choose a quieter place?

No, you shook your head. You could drop out hundred more times, so you can at least try.

A few months later, you were ready to use the time machine to go back to the past, purely to choke yourself for these thoughts. Is it not exist? So, you had to invent it and then implement your plan.

Let be damned day when you decided to speak up and out of the goodness of your heart to help Yuu. You were a little pitiful for a newbie who was shoved into a crumbling building, bombarded with various assignments, and who just got hit in the head for being friends with Ace and Deuce.

You knew firsthand about the first years of Heartslabyul. Fortunately, one day you saw how they smashed an expensive candelabra. You just passed by and, seeing Trappola flying through the entire room, you immediately escaped from the scene of the incident. Getting under the director's hot hand was not on your list of plans.

Just as the attention of one annoying person did not fit into your future.

His sudden interest might have been flattering, but, alas, you were sensible in assessing your own strengths and weaknesses. Therefore, you could not logically and rationally find the reason for the appearance of Hunt in your student life. Listening to rumors and just looking at him, you doubted whether he was familiar with these concepts.

However, again, you couldn't call him crazy. He was eccentric, but far from being an idiot. At the right moments, his head worked as it should and more often than you would prefer.

One-sided verbal skirmishes - you won't call this dialogue - from a certain point became an integral part of passtime. It was even admirable.

More precisely, you admired how he won this "part". He was almost the very first to greet you every now and then. If he did not come to wish you a good day in person, then in some unknown way a note was always found in your bag, doing this for him. After weighing the pros and cons, you just gave him your phone number. You'd rather let him text you than scare the hell out of you by sending arrows. Real arrows.

"Bonne journée, the light of my eyes!" You stopped, silently cursing your own luck or lack of it. You glanced over your shoulder and went back to sorting the printouts. "All at work despite the early hour. I would be honored to share your burden-"

"I didn't ask you to do so", you interrupted him, mentally adding 'and I won't ever ask'.

However, this did not stop him, because in the next moment he was already standing next to you with unchanging, so annoying smile. Looking at how quickly he gets the job done - much faster and more accurate than you - you couldn't help but sigh.

From fatigue? Or envy?

You couldn't define exactly what you felt at that moment. It was just easier with Rook to give up and let him do whatever he liked. Of course, as long as he didn't cross the line. You were looking forward to him making a mistake, a reckless move, but they don't appoint just anyone as Pomefiore's vice-leader. He played on the nerves, but never allowed himself too much.

He was exactly like image you drew in your head: based on your own and other people's opinions. However, every day it became more and more difficult to deny the fact that the idea of him was slowly changing. As well as your attitude towards him.

That's why you allowed yourself to join the game, that he led so diligently. Not long, just a little bit. Moreover, the blonde, humming to himself and clearly enjoying your company, did not need to know about this.

🎃 Behind the scenes Pt.1

Even though there are other divisions and some participants which may not be mentioned above, they’re all invited and have their own parts in this event as well. For examples;

Himari Asami, Hiroshi Sakura, and Suzuran Minazuki (who was on the request of her non-blood-related cousin) were in charge of designing and making costumes with the assistance of three fashion interns; Aimi Miyazaki, Alice Shiroka, and Umi Kobayashi.

Akira Arai, Natsume Kurome, Kururi Yamamura and Queen Card’s team were noted to took part in making props. By the way, Kureha Koizumi was anticipated to participate in this as well but she unexpectedly showed up in the opening show —much to everyone’s surprise.

Reiaki Suzubayashi and Emiko Akaibara showed to work together on helping the cast prepare themselves before entering the stage.

Chiyuri Seiguni was tasked to be the main operator of most special effects on stage via the brief from the real technician, Raiden Otoha since this one had to take his part in the 7th show.

Aiko Mayeda was the D.J. and he got the party started! The 86 band and other musical units associated with other division members were also joined in to provide music for some songs.

Most choreography throughout the shows were designed and coached by Yeong Hajoon, Haruto Morikawa, and Kaede Iwasawa.

The representative of Snowflake Sentinel News, Yoichi Shujo; and the head of a certain publishing-house, Nellie Yukimura were assigned to deliver the details of this event. Please expect more live reports and some tidbits behind the scenes from them.

The foods and drinks in this event were all supplied by the alliance between Luis Kōkyū, Rashaad Young, Harumatsuya shop, and Rikiya farm.

The main sponsors of the previous event are Sigma Inc., Toi Pharmaceutical, and E.L. Medical Co. Therefore, this time it’s the turn of Wonder⇓anD Sound Systems, Arakawa Tech Industries, and the concert venue was organized by the entertainment agency “Kairiku Production” with the cooperation of Queen Card’s league. 

For some reason, a certain division was banned from participating —to be specific, it’s Ginza Division. However, Eiji Noguchi and his family were secretly invited because his children wanted to come.

At first Fusao Ise and Queen card were honored to be the MCs (or the hosts) of this event but because the latter had to ‘prepare’ for her own part in the 11th show, Reika Aichi was surprisingly nominated to take over this role once again alongside Fusao.

At the beginning, all the cast were seen wearing some kind of masquerade mask before their first show started.

Though not every division was present in the 3rd show, there were flags with symbols of each team ever participated in the D.R.B. showing on stage.

For whatever reason, Aranai Norikoru was the one who delivered the line “Toki wo (Shout)!” before the chorus “Kakumei wa matte (The revolution has succeeded)!” was sung by all divisions. Well, someone in the cast seemed visibly displeased with how this turned out.

Despite the 6th show being performed by Yuuya Kanata and Yorii Sakuma, the one who advised them on the lyrics was their senior musician, Ren Nakashima, and the music provider for this show was none other than the 86 Band

Before two boys of the 6th show left the stage, the camera caught both Yuuya and Yorii high-fiving Ren who was up for the next show…

Playing A Round

Have another bit of Knucklesverse writing. 'Cause this one was fun.

Quetzal curled in the far corner of the Sanctuary, his tail lazily flicking back and forth. It was a slow day—only a handful of Knux's were present at the moment. Dread, Gnarly, and Renegade sat at the table, playing a round of poker, while Little Z snoozed against the large dragon's side.

Bored. Q was soo booored. Sure, it was nice to nap and have a quiet day with his tribe. While he loved just about all the other Knuckles’, sometimes things could be a little too loud or crowded when there were a lot of them here.

But that didn’t mean that a quiet day had to be boring.

He looked down to the little zombie against him, a smile curling his lips. His eyes flicked up to the three echidna at the table. And an idea brewed.

If he really focused, Q could speak to the other Knux's while in his dragon form. Not much, just a few words, but it would do. He flicked Z gently to wake him, and leaned down to whisper in the boy's ear.

The little zombie listened intently, a smile curling his lips. Always up for mischief himself, Z nodded and hurried off.

Meanwhile, at the table, the game had gone from friendly pastime to fierce competition. The main battle was between Dread and Ren (of course), and Gnarly seemed a bit annoyed they'd taken what was supposed to be a fun way to pass the time and turned it into yet another way to try and best each other.

"C'mon guys, this is supposed to be fun," the teen said, the annoyance evident in his tone. "I was having fun, and I'm losing!"

"Aye, it be all fun an' games 'til this one falls behind," Dread said with a smirk, hooking a thumb toward Ren. His urban twin growled.

"I ain't 'falling behind', you're cheatin'."

A look of shock crossed the pirate's face. "I would never! I swear on me ship I be playin' as straight as an arrow, dear brother." A little smirk curled his lips, which didn't fill Ren with a lot of confidence at the honesty of the remark.

"Don't call me that."

"We all be brothers here, Rennie."

"Don't call me that, either."

Dread let out a snicker. "Feelin' a might touchy ‘cause ye're losin' to such a fine example of a pirate?"

Ren rolled his eyes. "Are you gonna play, or are you gonna keep yappin'?"

"YES," Gnarly said, his own lip curling in a snarl. "Can we play, please? It's your call, Dread."

The pirate cast another grin to Ren before looking back down at his cards. That smirk never left, and he tossed a few more poker chips into the middle. "Raise ye 10."

Ren frowned, looking down at his cards. Then his eyes flicked back up to Dread. "You're bluffin'."

Dread narrowed his eyes. "Maybe. But maybe I ain’t. How sure be ye?"

The two were locked in a steely gaze, eyes narrowing as they sized the other up. Finally Ren uttered a loud grunt, before tossing his cards to the table.

"Fine. I fold."

Dread uttered a little chuckle as he displayed his cards. Ren growled.

"You were bluffin!"

The pirate shrugged as he reached forward to pull the pot to him.

"Tis the name of the game, brother," he said, just as an ace slipped out of the cuff of his glove.

Ren leapt to his feet, slamming his fist on the table. "I KNEW IT!"

Dread looked between him and the card, a look of shock and confusion on his muzzle. "I didn't cheat! I don't know how that got there!"

"Yeah, right!"

"I don't NEED t' cheat t' beat ye!" Dread shouted, getting to his own feet. "'Sides, when I cheat I hide the cards in me vest! Ye seen me hands the whole time!"

"Guys, c'mon!" Gnarly shouted, holding his hands out to try and calm his brothers, when two cards fell out of his own gloves.

Ren and Dread pointed at their younger brother.

"CHEATER!"

"I'VE BEEN LOSING!" Gnarly slammed his fists on the table, making the plastic chips clatter. "I don't know where those cards came from!"

"I think ye just pretended to lose so ye could lure us into a false sense of security," Dread said, eyes narrowed. "Then yer luck would suddenly change, aye?"

"That doesn't even make sense!"

"Maybe you planted those cards on him to shift the focus off you," Ren said, pointing to Dread. "Sneaky jerk."

Dread cocked an eyebrow at him. "Are ye serious? What advantage would that give me?"

"I dunno, you're the sneaky pirate here."

"Ye're outta yer mind!"

"Can you play without cheating for once in your life??" Ren shouted, slamming his fist against the table, and a number of poker chips fell out of his glove.

Dread and Gnarly pointed at their middle brother. "CHEATER!"

Ren shook a few more chips from his glove, a look of confusion on his face. "I dunno how those got there!"

"Maybe ye're the one casting blame elsewhere t' hide yer wrongdoing!"

"TAKE THAT BACK!"

The three descended into bickering and accusations, until a soft laugh floated over them. Dread paused first, holding up a hand to quiet the other two.

"Ye hear that?"

They all paused, looking around for the source of the laughter. A look of annoyance passed over Dread's face, and he looked under the table.

"YE LITTLE SNEAK!"

When Dread stood, he had one of Z's arms in his grip.

Ren looked under his side and found the boy’s other arm. Pulling it out, he looked over to Dread.

"Looks like we've been played."

"Aye."

The laughter got louder, and Little Z came out of hiding, his armless shoulders shaking in his merriment.

"You guys were so funny!"

Three sets of narrowed eyes watched as he came closer, and Dread resisted the urge to smack the boy with his own arm repeatedly about the head.

"Very funny, lad," he said, tossing the boy's arm back. Ren followed suit, and Z called his limbs back into place. "Where'd ye get such an idea?"

Z smiled innocently, and shrugged. "No place. Bye!"

The Shatter triplets watched him go, and Ren rubbed the back of his neck with a hand.

"So, uh, I guess you weren't cheating. Sorry 'bout that."

Dread shrugged. "I cheated f'r the first two rounds, but when it became clear how unimaginably bad ye be at bluffin', I quit after that."

With a growl, Ren launched himself at Dread, and the two rolled on the ground, knocking the table over in their brawl.

Gnarly uttered a soft sigh, shaking his head as he wandered toward the kitchen for a snack.

"I thought I was the paranoid, unstable one."
