Thoughts/behaviors that are hella autistic, in hindsight:

Not sending a message/thought in a group chat until someone else does first because I don’t know what the “appropriate” amount of time to wait to switch topics is (especially if the previous topic was sad/heavy or celebratory).

Full-on copying wording and movement from employers/people of authority because anything they did without being judged for got added to the “socially acceptable in this context” list.

Waiting until I was alone to jump up and down, shake, or squeal.

An infinite amount of other things I will continue to notice and recognize.

Will’s latest hyper-fixation is Dress to Impress. He misses therapy one night and Hannibal drives to his home to chastize him (as one does) and finds him completely engulfed by the game. As if hed completely forgotten about therapy tonight, he asks Hannibal why he’s here and then says never mind that, and recruits his help for the next outfit because he keeps losing and he’s getting cyberbullied by 8 year olds. Hannibal begrudgingly assists and scores Will a spot in first place. Hannibal is about ready to kill him when he asks Will if he forgot he had therapy tonight and Will says that the only thing his mental health needs is a win.

Hannibal doesn’t end up leaving until 3am, after eventually making Will get up and taking his seat.

reminder that not struggling with eye contact, or even having too much of it, doesn't mean you're not autistic. a lot of autistic people complain about not having a good time making eye contact, but struggling with making it isn't in the diagnostic criteria, nor is it required to have a diagnosis

some autistic people might be just fine making eye contact

some might even swing in the other extreme and make too much eye contact that makes NTs uncomfortable. the diagnostic criteria just underlines "abnormalities" in eye contact

again, though, those abnormalities aren't required, because autism is a spectrum and not a straight line
