So I heard someone mention recent Cookie Run designs somewhere, and it made me remember this thing I was going to post about a couple weeks ago

Namely, the Witch’s Castle designs, since I personally think they’re the weakest we’ve been getting recently

Like, they aren’t the worst thing ever, but a good half of the original Witch’s Castle Cookies feel overdesigned to me, or they’re too busy

Like, why do Marble Danish, Sachertorte and Onyx Cream have 4 different hair colors? Why is this necessary?

And I feel like they just have some unnecessary details that really didn’t need to be there, like the fur on Marble Danish’s coat, or the sprinkles on said fur

It also personally irks me how Onyx Cream’s outfit has so little black or other dark colors. His name is Onyx Cream, and Black Cream in the original, and yet the black in his design is really only around his head. I don’t know, I feel like the darker colors should have been more prominent

Also I think Onyx Cream looks a bit too similar to Marble Danish, at least in terms of basic outfit things. Not only that, but their descriptions say that Marble Danish is made of cacao and butter, while Onyx Cream is made of cocoa powder and cream. Also, they’re both swordsmen. I don’t entirely know how similar they are in character yet, but they feel q bit same-y to me. Which wouldn’t necessarily be a huge problem if Onyx Cream didn’t come out only a couple months later

And as for Snow Crystal, I know she had the whole “she looks AI generated” thing going around, but honestly I think her hair is the main culprit

I feel like it just looks really ill defined, and with that, it makes it look more AI-ish

Personally I don’t really hate her design, and I like the color combos, it’s just her hair that irks me, because it really doesn’t scream “snow crystal” to me, maybe if her hair were more angular and rigid, or at least more together

Also she’s got this very light and flowy feel towards her in her animations, but that’s not really the vibe I get from the name Snow Crystal. I know snowflakes and such are light, but her name I feel like doesn’t match. I did find out there are apparently these tulips called “snow crystal”, which I feel like would make plenty more sense with her design, but her description tells me that no, she’s supposed to be like a snowflake snow crystal

Maybe I am being too picky, and I know my brain is wired to this philosophy of “simpler = better” despite that not always being the case, but I just feel like they have all these unnecessary details

Radish, Rosemary and Witchberry I don’t really have much problem with, I think their designs are perfectly fine as is, and I can maybe excuse the detail on First Cream, at least in her hair, but I feel like the Witch’s Castle designs are a bit hit or miss for me, and I really don’t know whether to expect more misses or not, since all the ones I like were here since launch

Certainly, there are those who are quicker to spring into action than others, and some who may have gotten further than others when it comes to active combat, but I doubt any of them would have had it in them to turn tail and run from the Final Selection. (Except maybe Maeda-san.)

Just because most of them have at least some swordsmanship practice in their background, it doesn't mean all of them do. I'm sure a lot of them had other reasons for signing up as a Kakushi right away to contribute with whatever skills they had; some who lost their families might had known they'd be no good as swordsmen but they could cook or mend things or learn whatever new skills were necessary to support the people fighting their stead. What's very interesting, though, is something the Kakushi (and likewise, swordsmiths) are expected to give up: Their identity. It's hard to say why this might be, perhaps it's a precaution to keep them from being targeted by demons and tortured for information, since they can't defend themselves like swordsmen can. When Tanjiro is carried by a secret method to the swordsmith village, he's not even allowed to learn their names, it's that's serious. That's not to say they totally give up their identities, they keep up personal correspondence with people by name, and form relationships with other people in the Corp all the same, but there's something to be said for the willingness to leave one's identity behind at a moment's notice for the sake of the Corp.

We don't know if the Kakushi receive the same sorts of benefits as the swordsmen, who can earn higher salaries as they advance and who have a father-like figure watching over them from afar, knowing them by name, and remembering them by their wills should they give their life in battle. The Corp moves to support the swordsmens' work, and they are encouraged to focus intensely on their own personal strengths and to do whatever they need to hone them in their own unique way.

Kakushi don't face the same risks, their work is subordinate to the swordsmen. However, they must be proficient in a wider array of basic skills, like astronauts who must be able to do everything from flying spaceships to giving haircuts, for they must be entirely self-reliant for any need that arises, picking up more skills than they ever had interest in. By giving up their identities instead of their lives, its as though Kakushi must set their own egos aside and function for a higher purpose. The spiritual fortitude of this team is on a very different sphere; they need to see the bigger picture, and if that picture calls for them to take action that may kill them, they pick up a sword and do what must be done.

franky will fight burgess revised

we all know that eventually the blackbeard pirates will fight the strawhat pirates with the strawhats fighting their blackbeard counterparts . To wit, there are similarities between Luffy and Blackbeard (similar belief in dreams, the Will of D, so on), Zoro and Shilliew (both master swordsmen), Chopper and Doc Q (doctors), Van Augur and Usopp (snipers), and Jesus Burgess and Franky (helmsmen, strongmen, etc.).

as we know jesus burgeuss is a wrestler and has a wrestling theme and in lots of animation as said they fight strange creatures including robots/cyborgs including the anime/manga ultimate muscle

and franky has fought a guy who uses a wrestling techniques before and thats senor pink who has the suplex techniques and franky has exhibited a kind of boxing/wrestling style of fighting throughout the series.\and frankys post timeskip body/body type is more similar to burgeuss

Both are quite boisterous brawlers in a fight, very flashy, and both introduce themselves in the series as prone to starting a fight (though Burgess is quite a bit more aggressive I mean  he was First seen standing on top of a house shouting and looking for a fight. ). However, Burgess only uses his raw strength and what he is capable of in a fight, along with a little bit of cunning. Franky is a bit more reliant on his abilities as a cyborg, but he can fight underhanded as well and he’s just as effective in a brawl.

Black Maria is a perfect foe for Robin. She lets minions do the work for her and is always surrounded by them, savagely beats up helpless captives who won’t fight back because of a crippling weakness, while using even weapons to do so, and has a living weapon which has eaten a Devil Fruit. Maria also uses her dark past in Ohara to psychologically torture Robin, plans to violently extract information from her, destroys her own base/brothel and her laugh is even “Wahahahahahaha!” So, Robin is probably thinking of a certain old personal foe of hers when she beats her the exact same way as him. Even better: The means Black Maria used to beat Robin through mind games are superior to Spandam’s, as she actually can use supernatural powers to back them up. So, why she is less effective than him at mentally harming Robin? To show how much she grew and trusted her Nakama.

Hakuoki SSL - Hakuo Gakuen Q&A

This is my last post of the month, so I’ll end by asking you to please support me if you can through my ko-fi, and paypal or patreon which provides access to my hakuoki blog translations and early access to my postings. Also, please let me know if you have any hakuoki drama cds that you’d be willing to share that are on my Lookout List since i either do not have audio for those cds or do not have audio that I can share.... and if you are able to remove watermarks from a video, please contact me.  

Anyway, for some odd reason, ive been thinking about how lazy i am with editing sometimes, and it really shows on some of my older posts (alternatively that just might be fatigue since i used to mostly translate in the late evening/extremely early morning [like 3amish])... tho i will say that the degree to which i edit something relies heavily on what the content is. Like, I will be pretty thorough when I’m working on a subtitle file, but when I’m working on something else... my interest in properly communicating the English language plummets like a rock..... lol.

hashi meeting zabuza and eyeing the kubikiribocho is awesome and the giant sword hashi has got as an adult makes me think of the buster sword from ff7, and it would fit him better cause when it breaks just some blood and it if fixed! though at the same time wonder if hashi would bring it back to konoha with him, or kakashi and tenzou would let him, after they return cause one of kiri's treasures along with the other swords

Tbh I played ff1 and nothing else 😅 but I looked up the sword and had to do a double-take to make sure it wasn’t a weird mesh of kubikiribocho and Hashirama’s og broadsword thing so it definitely fits! The big q that’ll come up with the current chapter does Hashirama want the sword? Now that...he’s not having a good time rn and could very honestly be triggered by it in the future. 

Ngl, once Zabuza’s sword became part of the seven swordsmen’s...I can’t believe they just left it in Wave. Like...that’s a powerful weapon? You’re not allied with Kiri rn, why don’t you take it? Or at least hide it? Though my memory is terrible and I’ve already forgotten when the seven swordsmen were first brought up so there’s a high likelihood it was “just a sword” then. 

Kakashi is completely hands-off “not my problem”-ing this specific problem. Tenzo is torn bc on one hand setting a good example of trying to ease inter-village tensions and on the other years of ROOT and ANBU training saying don’t give your enemies any advantage. Madara is similarly conflicted because if anyone treated the Uchiha’s gunbai like that and took it instead of returning it, he’d mercilessly hunt them down. But he’s also 12 and that’s a really big and cool sword.

The Swordsmen's Bonds

Z: It has been three days since the formal dissolution of STORAGE. The good news is it looks like not everyone was fired, as Haruki is training in a GAFJ dojo, as Yoko calls we're informed that the team has been out on leave until further notice. The restructuring is under way at the 1st SAA Group HQ, which as we see with Hebikura, has formally replaced STORAGE. Nice seen with Haruki and Yoko, before Hebikura sneaks into SAA as a Pizza delivery man, so good to GAFJ security is as bad as ever, and he sees the robot Yuki Mai is working on developing, with the intent to replicate Ultraman's beams to contain the damage from D4. It is a reasonable plan in all honesty, because there may be situations where the use of D4 is seriously the only option. Yuka is working with the GAFJ public relations team, with Sevengar in site, various goods are being sold, Bako-san is also there in a similar role, but is also doing maintenance on Sevengar, so at least they're letting him do something he's suited for. A 3rd Barossa Seijin appears, but is actually older than the 2nd, Bako shows some skills. Juggler surprisingly stops Z winning at ground level, allowing Barossa to grow giant. Z grows giant to fight it, and Bako lends Sevengar to Yoko. Z and Sevengar are doing fine until SAA sends King Joe in. The guy they have piloting does an awful job, missing with about half the Pedanium Missiles when Yoko has never missed to my memory. Juggler decides to join as Tri-King, knocking Sevengar down and distracting Z, this battle is really showing how important the pilot's skill is to this, as Barossa is constantly showing up King Joe while Sevengar does significantly better despite being a literal museum piece. When Z prepares the Zestium Ray against Tri-King Juggler grabs King Joe and pushes it in the way of the beam, allowing Yuki Mai to get the data she wants, which will allow completion of Ultroid Zero, the pilot ejects. Juggler upgrades to Five King, forcing Z to use Delta Rise Claw. Beliarok refuses to play as soon as he hears they already beat it, but they still do pretty good, while Yoko, still fighting Barossa, as Sevengar starts to take damage, spots Beliarok and manages to goad him into helping her. With Sevengar's legs damaged Yoko puts herself on the Leg Carrier and has Yuka use Core Ship to control it, allowing her to make the finisher. Z uses Gamma Future to overload Gan-Q's energy absorption, then uses Ginga, X and Orb to activate the Galaxy Burst finisher. In the aftermath a certain someone retrieves at least the Tri-King medals. Some of the old maintenance team, due to personal circumstances, have decided to stay on with 1st SAAG, but Bako-san and others aren't, he doesn't hold it against them, telling them to take care of his robots. Hebikura arrives and we here Haruki has been assigned to security and Yuka to Kaiju Research, while Yoko has been shortlisted to pilot Ultroid Zero by Yuki Mai. Hebikura gives some parting advice to Haruki, claims his bonsai and leaves.

The Absolute Conspiracy: Great and Powered begin Ribut's training, Nd explain the Gudis cells will continue to grow if even one survives, and if the growing Maga-Orochi consumes those it will swiftly grow into Magata-no-Orochi and devour Planet Mikarito. Elsewhere Leucocyte is brought down on Planet Feed by 80, accompanied by Neos and Seven 21 (both have new VAs), Neos is part of the Elite Task Force and Seven 21 is part of the Galactic Security Agency, this fight showcases those 2 until Absolute Tartarus arrives accompanied by the last Reiyonix, Reibatos. This is again before Reibatos one previous appearance, based on the state of Planet Kanon, Reibatos summons Gymaira for Tartarus, which challenges 80. Hikari and Sora continue their work as Max's body starts to mutate. Ribut taps into his inner power and overcomes Great and Powered, who then grant him the power of the Ribut Blocker and the Spreader Rod. While Neos and Seven 21 struggle with Leucocyte, Gymaira is defeating 80 until 2 warriors from another universe arrive, Cosmos (original actor) in Space Corona Mode and Justice (new VA, though implicitly still Julie?) in Standard Mode. As 80 references Saga this is evidently later than I thought, but for Cosmos it is still before his last appearance in The Origin Saga. Justice mentions the Universal Justice Delacion, who he served in The Final Battle in attempting to destroy mankind, before turning on them, but apparently Delacion respected the Ultras decision and Justice is still affiliated with them. The pair make a quick attack on Leucocyte before switching to Cosmos Future Mode and Justice Crusher Mode, all of these forms haven't been seen since the Final Battle, as they fight 80 defeats Gymaira. Sora present Ribut with the Gudis antibodies. As the 5 Ultras battle Leucocyte they see Zoffy's Ultra Sign stating Ribut's team is preparing to save Max. Ribut, Great and Powered arrive at Mikarito, to find Max losing control, but Ribut swears to save him.

Saber: I was wrong about Tassel's guest, looks like the mysterious figure from Avalon. Everyone at Northern Base is tense after all that happened, especially with Sophia missing. So why are the Megiddo saying they only need gates opened by the six swordsmen we know, when we know there other swordsmen at Southern Base...I wonder. Caliber is likely to have already done his if they needed it. Kento is still clearly off, but I would argue it's regret now. Ogami trusts Ren to watch over him. This time, while Daishinji and Ogami enter easily, Zooous and Storious get in Saber's way. Ren discovers just before entering that Kento isn't there, he's apologising at Rintaro's bedside, apparently he, Touma and Luna made some promise in the past. He intends to deal with Kamijo, but he does seem more focused on doing it out of duty, but he doesn't look confident. Okay, so given this whole ritual already happened 15 years ago to connect the two worlds, why are Daishinji and Ogami oblivious to what's going on. Why is Kento the only one to know? He becomes Golden Alangina to face Jaou Dragon. Slash and Buster face Goblins, and another runs from Kenzan because they don't need him again. Rintaro has run off to help Kento. Of rather to take over for Touma so he can help Kento. The mention of Luna finally lows Touma to remember. Zooous and Storious leave so Rintaro is forced to open the gate. Buster, Slash and Kenzan all defeat their opponents, opening 2 gates, the book where Kenzan is just fades. Blades defeats his Megiddo. Apparently the 3 of them promised to always be together, as Touma rushes to help Kento. It's a great fight. Kamijo if you didn't expect Touma to inherit Rekka why did you leave Brave Dragon with him??? Unless you didn't mean to. And...did that just happen? Tassel is entering the story for real, with his friend.

Kiramager: The initial plan is to have Kiramazin, Gigant Driller and King Express Zabyun face and Jamenju each, and hopefully call on Grateful Phoenix as well, unfortunately Oradin reveals the situation with Garza and so he cannot come. Juru and Tametomo will try to rescue Sayo while the others fight. Great opening shot of the battle, Garza starts getting the edge in over Oradin, Juru and Tametomo make it to the seed but find Yodonna has captured Sayo. It's tense as things seem bad as Juru gives up his shot....as a beacon for Grateful Phoenix. The actual sequence is amazing, so they've taken out the plant, and now it's four mecha against the Jamenju trio and Jouki. Even with the Jamenju gone it seems nothing will stop the seed sprouting until Juru has an idea. It's always cool to see a mecha cannon finisher, they happen so rarely. This reminds me of the one from Dekaranger, I wonder if that was properly to scale with the DX toys?

Mental state (any mental illnesses?): ptsd is strong with this one. with her world being plunged into darkness and being separated from her father when she was only 6 years old. then being dragged into another universe and across time. it gets to a person. ana has also suffered from post natal depression. Alignment (neutral good, chaotic evil, etc): chaotic neutral Morals: big family morals. she end up being torn from her family, so she wants to make sure that she always keeps hers safe. Temperament: very much known as the runaway throughout the galaxy. time and space have even heard of her.

there has always been something about tanaka matheson. she had always been a special child. when she was nine years old, three years after the blackout, she left with her aunt rachel, away from her uncle ben and cousins, charlie & danny to find her way back to her father, a general of the monroe militia. she learnt the basic skills to survive, becoming one of the best swordsmen in the entire militia just like her father. she was still too young when she returned to miles to be apart of the army, but that did not stop ana from wanting to learn everything there was to know about swords and how to become an amazing fighter like her daddy.

she learnt more about how to run and fight than simple maths. however, miles made sure that she was well educated when it became obvious she liked to travel with him when he WENT on long tours than to actually learn basic rules - eventually when ana was thirteen (13), miles made sure that ana stayed in school, which sometimes included him taking the men in the middle of the night so that he didn’t wake her and cause her to stowaway in the carriage.

season one of revolution plays out normally - just with the addition of a twenty year old ana being incredibly protective over miles and charlie.

life seemed to be going smoothly until one day she found a crack in the wall of an abandoned hospital they were squatting in. this crack in the wall caused her to fall into another universe. it was a crack in time and space - it should have SWALLOWED her whole and erased her from reality, but instead the crack spat her out on the other side, in a different universe, on a different planet, IN a different time.

she never really thought about the consequences of her absences back on the other side, miles was in hysterics that not even nora could calm him down from - he searched high and low for his daughter, only to come up empty six months down the road. she was considered K.I.A and miles was more ruthless than ever before.

ana had no idea where she ended up or HOW the hell she got there, but it was on that planet that she met a man called the doctor, a girl named amy pond and a woman called river song. they all seemed to know her rather well - it was explained that time travel was a funny thing. from there - she fell into one adventure that felt like it would never end, until abruptly it does. one of the - ALIENS, a weeping angel, snagged her around the wrist - but it didn’t kill her. they had been KILLING PEOPLE all day, snapping necks instead of feeding on their life energy, at least that’s what the doctor told her they did but this ONE - this ONE angel didn’t kill her, instead it shoved her FURTHER into the past. but why this one angel ? no one could really answer this question, not even when ana finally reached the moment in time the long way around. this time instead of landing in a cave on an alien planet, she landed on the lap of one captain jack harkness in world war two, london.

it was from there that she met the doctor again, but this time he looked different - looked older and a girl called rose tyler from there - she was pulled into ANOTHER crazy adventure, but to earth, though the date, they told her was 2005. it hurt ana’s brain to try and wrap around the fact that she wasn’t born yet but she was still her fully grown self. twenty years old and in a different time and universe.

it was from there that ana grew to love the doctor, jack and rose - up until the time the doctor left jack in the year five billion and ended up regenerating, a move that ana figured he was trying to avoid her questioning, all on christmas day (and her birthday) (21). it was something that time lords could do apparently, and it was from there at the beginning of 2006 that ana found herself twenty one years old and alone. not wanting to travel with a newly regenerated doctor, not after leaving jack stranded in the future and the fact they had been butting heads almost the whole time he had been awake. it was only the beginning of february that ana stumbled across torchwood and captain jack again.

this is where ana’s timeline gets a little complicated - ana and jack find themselves getting a little bit closer - a lot close as they become intimate (on multiple occasions) and it’s only a few months later (half way through season one) that ana finds out she’s pregnant. but it’s an event that attracts the wrong kind of attention (madam kavorian had her nose out early on) however, ana runs back into the doctor again, who is suddenly with a new companion after her and jack have an argument one afternoon - he was getting close to ianto, she wasn’t mad that he was, just mad that jack never told her about it. she was four months pregnant and had already been on a ship that was crashing into a sun, in the early 1900′s with a doctor who was human and stuck in 1969 with no TARDIS. it was during the year that never was that ana gave birth to a healthy baby boy, ethan. born july 15th 2007 (22) aboard the valiant.

ana didn’t continue on with the doctor and martha when everything returned to normal and the master had been stopped. she had a baby to look after and a captain that wouldn’t slow down - during the year, they had gotten closer once more - ana forgave jack about keeping lanto a secret and who knew maybe the three of them could work something out (they never did). but it was during the winter of 2010 (23) that ana lost her son. (leaving out the events that occurred during children of earth and miracle day) ana was left alone on earth and that’s when they struck.

the headless monks - the silence and madam kavorian, she wanted to take a child born from an immortal and a human to see if she could transform him into a weapon, see if he had gained some of his father’s powers of immortality - it was the worst night of ana’s life, and the first thing that she did was call the doctor (who had regenerated yet again), crying on her bathroom floor almost throwing up due to the fact that her son had been taken right from under her nose. the floppy haired doctor made a promise that he would find ethan for her - find her son. during events of season six, there’s other shit that involves my time lord oc, oliver plus finding out that there’s a version of herself in this universe, though she was born a boy, called taylor plus another baby, this time a girl (25), season seven is split into two, ana being around during the power of three but not for the ponds last goodbye, she was dealing with family issues at the time.

it was only on ana’s birthday at the end of season seven, just before the doctor regenerates, that the crack in space and time appears again on christmas (the planet), pulling her in - yet again she doesn’t get erased or forgotten. clara seemed to think it was the time lords trying to keep her alive.

landing on the grassy ovel of star fleet academy in 2255 (just turned 26). this kind of anomaly - that seemed to like throwing her throughout time and space - attracted a lot of attention. the continuum caught wind of ana when her appearance in the universe caused a stir in the timeline. this was the moment when she met Q. no stranger to time travel, thanks to the doctor, ana was only worried about the fact that she had no way of getting home - it was then that Q managed to distract her with trying to create a fake background for her which would allow her to join star fleet and end up becoming a member of the USS enterprise, to fight the battle against nero (28) & khan (28) in the next five years.

it was during the short break between khan’s attack and the battle of yorktown that ana was whisked away from that certain timeline - all because Q was bored with how things where going, calm and boring and no fun at all. keeping her backstory and her star fleet academy degree ana was placed on board the USS enterprise yet again, however the year was 2365 (still 28) and this timeline was completely different. run by jean-luc picard, Q introduced ana in a rather horrible way.

it was almost two full years of Q and ana getting each other into trouble, whether it was with the rest of the universe or mostly amongst the enterprise crew, however, during the events of Wolf 359 (30), ana is assimilated along with captain picard. after the event and ana was back to ‘normal’, the continuum decided to throw ana away from Q, who was banned from seeing her and even knowing where she disappeared too.

ana landed on board the NX-01, the very first space bound enterprise.

spending almost exactly three years (33) of her life on board, Q managed to find her after she was almost fatally wounded on one of the away missions, which included a run in with the xindi. Q, who was having his run ins with voyager and her crew at the time, dumped her in the delta quadrant where ana spent the next three years (35) once more on board a ship, where she grew incredibly close to the crew and the captain. the australian certainly had a habit of doing so, even with her rank of lieutenant and being only a nurse.

it was then that she stepped in and demanded to be taken back home, to her time - to the crew she first became close with, the aos crew, to which natasha a lady Q who had felt sympathy for ana’s situation, being the most notorious Q’s plaything and threw her back on board the 1701 during her second year of the five year mission. which leads into star trek beyond and also helps the fact that ana knows the main antagonist of the movie (37).

now this is where it gets complicated once more - ana does manage to find herself back on 21st century earth. but because she had been affected by the time vortex, the continuum and just being a time traveler as well - ana’s body still registers as a healthy 31 year old - while with some help of borg nanites that had to remain in her body, other wise her respiratory system would have shut down and she would have suffocated to death, which helps her to regenerate a lot faster than most humans. season 9 & 10 of doctor who occur.
