tbh I just don't want dean winchester to be happy I don't want tenderness to solve him and I don't want him to settle down with a dog and a soulmate. I want him to be a miserable nomad in that damn car forever building his own cage and every so often lifting his head and being like wtf who built this cage before he gets back to building. this guy is awful. also he is profoundly unstable. his world is governed by twisted impenetrable dream logic based on cartoons and cowboy movies. he's violent and scary and tragic and I love him so so much. every time he does something controlling or self righteous or manipulative I clap and cheer so so loud.

I saw a post about how Iain Mccaig’s AOTC concept art Padmé had the seduction and elegance of a falcon while canon (GL’s) Padmé had the elegance of a dove. And honestly, yeah I agree. Padmé’s AOTC concept art isn’t the true reflection of whom Padmé’s character is, and it’s not a bad thing! Concept art Padmé is gorgeous (I’m obsessed) but the danger, power, seduction, sharper eyes instead of doe ones, and this sith like presence in her aura, eyes, and style just isn’t Padmé. Canonically, Padmé is all sweetness wrapped up in seductive and alluring beauty, she’s not someone who knows she’s capable of making 10 men drop dead at her feet with just a wink, she’s always sincere and passionate and ready to give her whole heart to the chase no matter what it is. She’s selfless and bubbly, vibrant and colourful, while also being a courageous leader and maintaining a serious reputation for herself.

And honestly, I’m not even saying this more seductive-sneaky and dangerous Padmé whom we see in the concepts aren’t anything like Padmé either, I’m just saying that’s not whom she is at nature, and essentially the way she was crafted in the final version of the story is what makes sense and aligns with her character. In my opinion, I think behind closed doors (with Anakin specifically lol.) this more dangerous side to Padmé comes out, and she goes from being elegant like a dove to elegant like a falcon 🔥 and we see proof of that in the scene with Anakin by the fireplace in AOTC, with her seductive style and sharp bedroom eyes. This side of Padmé is the one that knows she can absolutely own her man, and make him do whatever she wants, and I expect that works out well for her a lot, lmao.

I was looking back through runa's tag on tumblr and it's actually comical how much of my "shit I would spend the next five years unpacking in therapy" I put into her route. A lot of stuff around being afraid of anger, a lot of stuff about anger and a destructive and a liberatory force, a lot of stuff about the way that self-hatred can ruin your life by making you lash out at other people, a lot of stuff about how toxic the fear of vulnerability is. Like I look at these screenshots and I just have to laugh. Legitimately hilarious how on-the-nose it is and how unconscious that was at the time.

And like, I'm never gonna stop wishing that more of this had been planned, that the production team had had a clear idea of what runa's story would be from the start, rather than stumbling into this issue without recognising how much it would antagonise readers and then scrambling to fix it. But if I could go back in time I wouldn't change the core of her story, I'd just tweak the details so it hit better faster. Because there's something so fascinating to me about the way that giving runa these huge, catastrophic missteps in her life and then getting to spend six seasons working through them and learning to evaluate herself more fairly, more generously, acts as a magnifier for very real feelings that a lot of people have dealt with.

It was so, so cathartic actually to take a charcater who really has done awful things and say "yes, she can learn and grow from them and she deserves not only to be loved by others but also to love herself". Like if she can do it, maybe any of us can.

And really what better production limitation for that story than to start from such a messy and chaotic accident of storytelling and to spend another five seasons picking at it and turning it over and examining it, and to get to somewhere good that I'm still really proud of.

Love you forever runa, you helped me work through some feelings and you definitely made me a better writer.

Still a huge fan of the way Sweet Enchantments took the concept of humans being spirited away by the fae, never to be seen again, and said "That does happen, but the thing that traps you isn't eating the food, it's callous bureacracy."

Whatever you do, don't cross over into the world of the fae folk. That's a breach of s 34(2)(b) of the Magic Secrecy Act and you'll have to wait 2-12 months before a likely moderately bigoted clerk bothers to file the correct paperwork so you can go home, it's such a pain in the ass.

The fucked up parallel of Chara in Asriel's body TRYING to kill the humans they hate but being held back by Asriel and in Pacifist ultimately changing for the better, trying to honor Asriel-as-himself's dying actions by helping a human navigate the Underground and even befriending them and finding hope again from Frisk's actions, helping them save the world

.... compared to Chara in Frisk's body being FORCED to kill the monsters they love because the player is forcing that on them and in Kill All ultimately turning into an indiscriminately murderous shell of themself, maxing out their LV to protect themself and taking Asriel-as-Flowey's wish to kill everyone and erase the world to heart

Which again like was it INTENDED?? Idk man, but it yields up a cool complex lil Chara and I love that. I want to pin a little medal on them and give them a hat. They're so fun if read as non malicious and full of potential for growth and change!! (like ALL these characters are, like have you SEEN them. they all change. SOME of them more than others *coughcough Asriel*) (but yeah the idea that the only thing Chara took from Asriel's death was that they hate him and monsters too now and they are unmoved by Pacifist and Kill All doesn't change them, just appeals to them because they like murder.... that means they don't change at all, ever, in their life or their death and they are instead the most static, boring, flat, shallow villain in Undertale lmao. C'monnnn.) (Let them be the dead kid who had a change of heart! Let them react and change in response to our actions in the game world as much as the other characters do!)

I was reading the Orphic Argonautica last night and the author has mentioned the various methods of divination Apollo knows and guess what? One of them is prophesying by studying the entrails of organisms. As soon as I read that I was reminded of your headcanon of Apollo being into hepatoscopy for divination and I giggled.

Hehe, so fun fact, the overall practice of divination by studying the entrails of animals (including blood, lungs, intestines and so forth) is extispicy while hepatoscopy is specifically using the liver in prophecy and divination readings.

If, like magic in old text exactly like the sort Medea is described as using, the types of divination spoken about in the texts are reflections of the popular divination cultures of the time, I much rather prefer ascribing those to Apollo than I do some vague, somewhat mysterious power which he uses to see the will of the fates, especially since it's mentioned a few times that he'll teach his sons the language of the birds and how to read their signs and so on and so forth.

In short: HEPATOSCOPY APOLLO IS COOL!! HE'S SO NEAT!! Apollo at the altar who predicts the coming droughts and famines from the entrails of his flock!! It's just such a neat little image (to me)!

Also the Orphic Argonautica bangs, genuinely I hope you enjoy it! Orpheus is an insane man and I do not think him along with the collective subspecies of mythical man known as 'sons of Apollo' get enough credit for how truly unhinged they are at any given point in time.

Prince Charmont of Frell. a guy who comforted a weeping girl at her mother’s funeral even though he didn’t have to. a guy who bought her a centaur bc they had a sweet conversation about them one time. a guy who was so impressed and delighted by how clever and brave and funny Ella was at every turn. a guy who was able to capture a cohort of ogres BECAUSE of how ella managed to get them defenseless and asleep. a guy who admired her so much and wrote her so many letters and sent them all to Ella via the cook (Mandy) so it wouldn’t garner the interest of her step family. a guy who fell in love with Ella through almost a year’s worth of letters to each other, through her humor and her wit and her kindness and her insight and her cleverness. a guy who didn’t have any suspicions about her curse because he rarely ever ordered her to do anything despite being a prince. a guy who was up front about his own failings (loyal to a fault, difficulty forgiving after a betrayal) and loved Ella because of her flaws not in spite of them. that’s MY prince charmont.
