literally all i want is sooome control over my liiiife. like to be able to say ok today im gonna do this and not have a constant flow of stuff bordering from passive aggressive comments to straight up being cussed out to family always telling me that actually my life is so much less important and meaningless than the rest of them despite me constantly being the one to be all the cogs in the machine like fuuuck it so much! i kno ill feel better once i drive to the swap meet again but i wish i could just cleaerly say hey im going so yea and not have to worry abt my dad letting my cats loose. it was always that bad but now that hes figured out that dendys in heat and needs to get neutered he constantly brings it up anytime i remind him to close the door behind him like i know for a fact if dendy ever escapes again hes not even gonna attempt to take accountibility and just gonna blame it on him being in heat. tho im rly just idk just feel so much anger for my father its insane.

I'm currently going back through O.K. K.O. episodes to write a piece on the episode "The So-Bad-Ical."

I really want a refresher on Dendy since she's a big thematic foil/counterpart to Ms. Quantum. So, I'm starting with Dendy's official introductory episode "I am Dendy." It'll be awhile before I have another more organized write-up and I thought you guys might appreciate some of my rambly, disorganized thoughts/observations anyway. I wanted to highlight some stuff I missed before:

K.O. establishes that trashed Boxbots get discarded in the alley. This episode is the Junkfish's first on-screen appearance: Boxman's first keystone invention for attracting Boxmore investors and robotic henchman to attack the Plaza before the known Boxbot line-up! The Junkfish is archaic compared to Shannon, Darrell, Ernesto, etc. Dendy originally suggested stealing Mr. Logic's glorb core. So, at face value, part of the difference between a sapient robot and something like the Junkfish is a glorb core. Thus far, I've focused more on glorbs in the respect of the "turbo" power-up or the Chip Damage power-up. It'll be interesting to do a deeper dive on other applications if I can find a specific throughline/emphasis on that.

I'm not sure if there's any other context clues in regards to the Boxbots' sapience or make-up, but I'll keep an eye out. As is, there's weirdly organic parts to their make-up (like Darrell's exposed brain in a jar, Shannon's human feet, etc). The bots are classified as robots; they have parts that can be easily swapped out/replaced. I assumed these were mechanical parts or synthetic. It's not an outrageous stretch considering the weird hodgepodge of fantastical elements and genre mixes this toon goes for. Hell, when it comes to Boxman and Venomous, Boxman is established as the robotics/programming expert where Venomous is the more classic Frankenstein mad scientist that specializes in biological/organic mad science fuckery. It reflects in how these guys approach/utilize glorbs, too: Boxman wants them as a power source for his bots and PV wants them as a power-up for his minion. That's for personal use on their parts respectively; they're not averse to selling them for ludicrous amounts of money.

This is the first on-screen appearance/reference to PV too! It's also one of two very specific scenes where K.O. highlights his POW card (the second being the YouTube channel episode). K.O. mentions that PV's POW card is online-only. POW cards are generally equated to Pokemon cards or other real world collectibles outside of K.O.'s go-to reference point for his current power level. Most of K.O.'s immediate friends and family, including his common enemies like the Boxbots, have easily accessible cards. The comment about PV's card is the first reference to how low-key and private this dude is. He's not as public as Boxman is. With Boxman, a hero could get a one-on-one confrontation if they barge into Boxmore. With Venomous, they need an appointment or they're just thrown into a trap. Also, he's level -7 at this point! He's a -8 later so it's a fun nod to the villains gaining levels through the fights too.

As another aside, K.O.'s specific attachment to this card long before the 'I am your father' reveal is brilliant! It sets audience anticipation, it establishes K.O.'s connection with him, and it informs viewers to keep tabs on this villain specifically.

In regards to Dendy specifically, I definitely want to highlight the early hints at her fascination with science can reach the point of almost all-encompassing. Getting results can be higher priority than the health of the subject or the ethics involved. She's a bit too cavalier in suggesting that 'harvesting' Mr. Logic's glorb core is a valid option. She frames her interactions with K.O. through the lens of scientist and test subject. Dendy can and does choose K.O. and her moral compass when it comes to tense situations.

I read this as an allegory for interacting with a socially awkward autistic person that has some difficulties with empathy. It's not that Dendy isn't an empathetic person. It's more that she doesn't immediately understand the optics of most social situations or the nuances of interacting with other people. K.O. is a wonderful complement to this as someone with high empathy and a strong emotional IQ. The way they play off of each other really helps paint the best set of circumstances for someone like Dendy: K.O. helps her learn how to talk things through with others and better understand the mismatch between her lack of language to properly articulate her feelings and others' potential misunderstandings of her intentions.

I would've loved to see how Dendy plays off of PV. Under the right wrong circumstances, Dendy could have ended up as a mad scientist. She chooses to be a hero and try to better herself and the world around her through her technical and scientific prowess. PV chose to become a villain and mad scientist; he deliberately chooses to harm. When Dendy hurts someone, it's unintentional. There's really interesting potential for thematic foils here. If I go too far down this rabbit hole, I might end up with another spec fan fic, hahah.

Let me know if you want more scatterbrained, rambly stuff like this whether it's on O.K. K.O. or otherwise. I have another ramble I want to do about Boxman's vs PV's taste in wall art/aesthetics that I can't fit anywhere else. This may be a good fit for weird, derailed thoughts like that.

Based off of @theangrycomet’s CN Gen 2 AU!

KO smiled and shook Jordan’s hand. It was strange as it was gloved and the heavy purple makeup with sparkles still was caked on her face. A perfect look for the villainess she had to play. “Great job out there tonight.”

“That means a lot coming from a hero like you, sir.” Jordan told him.

KO chuckled as the line was starting to slow down. The Kincaid’s had lingered at the back for most of the shows when Jordan wasn’t in the lead female role. And it was for the exact reason as to his left, KO’s son was starting to shift his weight nervously, and to his right was his son’s half-brother. As usual he had gotten a bigger male role that had him right next to the main heroine of the story.

KO patted Kaiden on his shoulder and Kaiden relaxed as KO and Dendy left him with Jordan who began to walk slowly back to the backstage area. Mostly she was telling him a few stories from production mishaps as KO and Dendy continued the usual handshakes and swapping good jobs to the different students.

KO took in a breath as he and Dendy stepped in front of Drake Atoms. It wasn't hard to tell even with his hair looking blue and him wearing a blue and gold outfit.

“Good job tonight Drake.” Dendy nodded to him.

Drake was a good actor, KO would admit and he nodded in agreement with his wife.

“Glad you liked the show, Mr. and Mrs. Kincaid.” Drake said cheerily. His eyes glanced around near them and the parents quickly moved on to the next person.

With that exchange the two adults continued down the line, shaking hands and smiling at the students.

“Good to see you…” Raymond took a bit of a pause as if biting his tongue. “Kincaid family.”

“Do you know what you will be performing next?” Dendy asked him.

“Well, that is a surprise for both the actors and the audience, but I do have plans.” Raymond smiled once again.

Hey hey! I think your robit ko au is super neat! I wonder though if Rad, Enid or anyone at the plaza will notice that KO has been swapped with a clone. And if they do, what happens then? Will they go searching only to find their friend turned into a robot? Have boxman rant about how this plan worked out perfectly and have KO attack them? Just angst material in general???

OHOHOHOHOHO GOOD QUESTIONS!!!!

So as I’ve mentioned before, KO gets replaced by a goo clone created by Professor Venomous so KO’s family and friends don’t notice his disappearance.

(So far when making content involving Goo Clone KO I’ve given him green eyes to show he’s a goo clone, but everyone in the au universe sees brown eyes)

Now, given that we didn’t get a lot of time to see goo clones in the actual show, I came up with the idea that, after a while, the goo clone loses it’s stability a little. Not enough for it to fall apart or anything, but it’ll occasionally drip green goop and stuff. The goo clone was designed not to notice anything out of the ordinary like that, just to wipe it away and ignore it. 

Rad and Enid only see him part of the day, and that time is spent working or messing around or fighting bots, so they don’t get too good of a look at him. As far as I have planned, the only one who notices anything out of the ordinary is Dendy.

Dendy is an analytical person. She’s always watching KO and his behavior and jotting it down in her hack-pack. And where does she sit in school? Directly behind KO.

She’s the only one who notices that something's a little off about KO. She offers to test a sample of the goo to see what it is, but KO tells her that it’ s fine and she doesn’t need to. Remembering what happened during the Mystery Science Fair 201X episode, she respects that and leaves it alone.

As for how they find out KO’s a goo clone, well, that’s a spoiler that I hope to reveal later. But you can bet that they find out.

and there will be plenty of angst to go along with it  >:D

literally gonna spend all of today or atleast the first half of it just waiting watching dendy and my dad to make sure dendy doesnt run out whenever my dad opens a door T-T atleast once he leaves ill be able to do some stuff like wash the dishes and then later water the grass and shower. rly gonna try to go tomorrow cause it could be really really nice. well its kinda insane i looked at it and is a 40 min drive from the 2nd swap meet to home so like insane imagining how thatll be... even tho its p simple and once i get on one street itll just be straight down that til i reaech familiar areas but also thinking abt it has me all excited... like if i can do that then i should be fine in my driving abilities and i should also be able to drive downtown to the record store down there without much worry. the only thing abt downtown that can be hard is finding parking tho i think theres a place to park right infront of the record store iirc. sooo ya. dont have any plans to go to the record store downtown rn but like in the future i may. i dont kno how the parking infront of the record store there works tho like if i can park there and then go explore downtown or if its like on a limit. probably the latter. anywaaaays ya i think ill go to the swap meets tomorrow but the deciding factor will be 1 if i can get some sleep tonight with both my dads dog lucas and the cats roaming at night... idk i may have to sleep in the living room or smthn ill have to seeee. if its too hectic and i cant sleep then i wont go but like if that goes well then i will go for sure. itll totally be worth it.

a few hcs i have for the whole hero/villain swap au:

ko is a bit of a clumsy villain, while he’s all for evil he tends to be naive and can easily be tricked by heros and other villains

tko is for sure a secret good side he’s constantly trying to trap in his mind because heck no-- he’s a bad boy no good boys allowed

uhh for sure dendy’s lab rat. he thinks their friends/partners but it’s most likely one sided (depends on the dendy writer tho)

enid and rad probs felt bad for him and took him under their wing. he looks up to them because WOWIE what cool villains 

second he finds out laserblast/venomous is his dad he has an existential crisis and starts questioning if he should even BE a villain bc he’s not so good at it, but chooses evil in the end because he loves his mom more

carol and k.o. have a good relationship, very similar to the show, you can’t tell me otherwise. the purity spreads through all dimensions.
