Turns out Janet was actually a swan maiden, Jack stole her cloak of feathers. Instead of being an obedient, biddable wife, as he expected, Janet channeled the swan. She was unruly, aggressive, and utterly two faced since to everyone else she looked like the epitome of grace and serenity.
She was also very monogamous and even more angry at being caught by Jack because she was already pregnant when he took her feathers! Tim's bio parent was some random wizard who turned out not to be worth Janet's loyalty, especially since the idiot assumed that Tim was Jack's child despite the timelines not actually working. Jack was also stupid enough to assume Tim is his son.
Tim finds his mother's cloak after he gets back from the Brucequest. It doesn't have the same power to bind him the way it bound his mother, but they were her feathers, she is his son, her blood, and he can wear them.
Tim mostly takes to napping in the pool at the manor or some other body of water there since none of the Bats, or Damian's pets, will bother him while he's a swan making it a safe place to sleep. He does not tell the Bats that he's the swan. YJ knows and they put a pond into their base where Tim can hang out.
Yo? Is this based off of that one myth/legend/story where magician turned swans into women to try to marry them? I don't remember much about that story, but hella sus for the magicians. They can't manage to find someone they are compatible that they try to turn animals into humans hoping the animal will be so grateful they fall in love with the magician 🤨
I don't know about y'all, but if someone, without my consent, transformed me into another being hoping I'd marry them, I would commit a murder. This is all I've known. I don't want to be anything else.
Anyways, I'm not too sure about the cloak of feathers part. Is that similar to the selkie? Selkie have a "coat" that allow them to turn into their seal counterparts. In the legends, humans who obtain the coat thus trap selkie on land and can force the selkie to do what they want (like pieces of shit). This usually leads to nonconsensual marriage. I'm not an expert, so feel free to look more into this myth. I like AUs that chat about it.
Anyways, good on Janet. I hope she made Jack's life hell for that stunt. What a piece of shit. Also, since the magician doesn't have her feathers, I hope Janet killed him. May the gods never rest his soul.
I'm curious if Tim, since he's the son of the magician, has any magic powers.
How much did he know about his mom and her situation before her death?
Has Tim ever turned into a swan before finding the feathers, or did he just suddenly become a swan and have to deal with it? How much part swan is he? Does he have any physical traits when he's human? Behavioral tendencies? Can he eat bread?
This is a cool AU I'd love to explore more of ^^

an animal shifter au i thought up that i will probably make a fic for but not until i get my computer which will be some time next month 😋😋!!
* tim and damian and steph are babies (tim and steph are 4 yrs n damian is 1 1/2 years)
* jason is 7 yrs and dick is 15 yrs
* cass is 8
* duke is 3 yrs
* bruce is 30 and alfred is immortal (sont question it, its my own personal belief)
ages are all human years. but tim, steph, and damien are kittens :3
* tim is a black ragdoll with blue eyes
* damian is a black bombay with green eyes
* bruce is a black jaguar with blue eyes.
* alfred is a swan.
* dick is a dark brown great dane with blue eyes
* jason is a husky that's mostly black with white stripes near the top of his head and blue-ish green eyes
* steph is a blonde ragdoll with ginger mixed in around the stomach and ears with blue eyes
* cass is a peregrine falcon
* duke is a canary.
lore: [featuring. bad parent jack drake and good parent janet drake w/ bio dad bruce]
* 70% of the world is composed of animal shifters.
* jack was not a shifter and only janet was. jack was extremely prejudiced against shifters and shared those opinions freely with high society. as a result janet never told anyone other than tim that she was a shifter to the day she died. Janet was a black ragdoll with brown eyes.
* when tim shifted for the first time he thanked the gods that he was only with his mom because his dad would have done something very bad to him. at least that's what his mom told him. she taught him how to shift and told him that if he has to, to never do it while his father is around.
* when it came out that jack was neglectful and verbally abusive to his child tim was taken in by by bruce cause when they did a paternity test it came back that bruce is his bio dad and bruce mentioned sleeping with janet around five years ago although he assumed nothing came of it because she never contacted him again.
*tim was originally extremely scared to shift when he moved into the manor until he saw everyone else shift freely. it started when he saw duke shift into a tiny canary to get away from the bath, then it was dick who shifted into a great dane to chase after steph when *she* shifed into a ragdoll and ran from the bath, then it was jason who shifted into a husky to run around outside the back of the manor, next was alfred who shifted to try and get duke to shift back and get in the bath, then it was cass who shifted into a peregrine falcon simply because she wanted to fly around and then damian who shifted into a bombay when cass sprayed him with the hose, even bruce which happened when he came home from patrol and saw all of them in a pile on the ground of the batcave and joined them. the first time tim shifted around anyone was cass and it was only somewhat intentional cause he was cuddling with his big sister and watching a movie and he was so comfortable and tired and overall debating it when he just shifted and promptly fell asleep. cass was so happy when it happened because it showed a lot of trust in her and she was very touched by that.
*bruce is still batman & dick is robin in this au :33

Reverse robins AU
Damian-phantom/claw
Damian is first OFC, he was conceived back when Bruce was training with the league from age 0-10 he was raised by the LOA and then when he was 10 Talia sent him to Gotham, and then he became phantom Bruce didn’t know how to raise a child, and definitely not an ex-assassin, at the time so fighting between the two were common when he was 19 he stopped working with Bruce and then went to work alongside cat woman, she was in a on-off relationship with Bruce while he was raising Damian so she helped raised him some and that’s why he went to her, he becomes known as claw.
Cassandra-swan
Cass is the first batgirl(kinda) her parents sent her to kill an important political figure but then her and Damian meet again having already met before at the LOA, for awhile she wasn’t a vigilante for 5 months just getting settled into her new life, she was adopted by Bruce and watches over Damian, she went into ballet her vigilante name being swan, she and Damian got into fights as well but not as much as Bruce and Damian, Damian being more lose about the no killing rule at first (he later follows it more strictly) and cass being fully against killing
Stephanie-phantom/banshee
Steph is the second phantom to haunt Gotham, her father being a villain trying to compete with the riddler, her mother a drug addict, one day she follows her father planing to take him down and Bruce finds her, he trains her with permission from her mother wanting her to have a better chance at life, she later was ordered to fake her death, moving out of Gotham to continue training while undercover, she later comes back as banshee
Timothy-phantom/wisp
Tim the 3rd phantom, he was close friends with Steph, she never told him her identity but he knew, after figuring out her identity he found out the others and began to stalk the bats to make sure steph was safe but he believed he failed, in order to make sure Steph’s dreams don’t go forgotten he forced Bruce to take him as phantom later he became wisp. when Jason comes around he’s not all that friendly
Jason-Phantom/wrath
Jason, the 4th phantom and now wrath, he was caught stealing from a store by cass who drops him off with Bruce, he becomes phantom after a while before running off to save his mother, just to be tortured and killed by the joker when he was 12, he later comes back with use of the pit, he returns to Gotham at 14 as wrath, his actions ruled over by rage.
Barbra-watcher
Babs stared helping Bruce and the phantoms out when she was 8 she would have her father bring her to the job and then she would help them with case files and sometimes they taught her different moves, she dreamed of being a great vigilante like them, but the joker shot her and so she couldn’t, but she later sets up the technology so that she could continue to help, she works part time at the library she becomes known as watcher
Richard-robin
Dick, the first robin, he is currently in training and the youngest Bruce wanting to bound with Tim drags him to a circus where they watch a kid lose his parents, Bruce has Tim watch over dick while he gets legal things handled.

Dark Batfamily AU
What about an alternate universe in which Gotham has been mostly cleaned up, yet the cause of it is a darker Batfamily operating sort of like the court of owls?
Bruce Wayne as a Dexter Morgan-style vigilante that calls himself "The Owl".
After taking out Tony Zucco for the deaths of the Graysons, he takes Dick in and tries to shield him from his vigilante life until he realizes that his ward is experiencing the same lust for violence. He trains him to become the first Talon.
When Dick becomes more independent and grows into his own vigilante identity called "Nighthawk", he starts targeting his victims through the investigative work he does as a forensic assistant in the GCPD. This is where he meets Barbara Gordon, a profiler also working in the GCPD.
Barbara, tired of her father's by-the-book mentality and fascinated by the work of the Birds, joins their team as the vigilante called "Nightingale". Nighthawk and Nightingale often work together on cases, although for their identities to remain a secret, they give up some targets to the police through their civilian identities.
Jason Todd has led a life filled with crimes and violence, most of it brought onto him by his father's actions. When he is close to killing him one night, the Owl stops him. Jason's time as a Talon is cut short and he resurrects as the "Vulture". The dip in the Lazarus Pit has granted him the ability to see the dead, which he takes advantage of to avenge the spirits of victims whose murderers run free.
Tim Drake has been following the Birds for a while now. He has managed to uncover their identities and has enough evidence to incriminate them for their crimes. Whilst he does agree that their targets deserved to be brought to justice, he does not agree with their methods of doing so. He comes to Bruce Wayne with a deal — send him off as a messenger/a warning and only act if the criminal continues down their path. This is how the vigilante "The Raven" is born.
Stephanie Brown is aware of her father's crimes and in an attempt to stop him before he garners the attention of the Birds, she creates the vigilante identity "The Dove" to help her father's next victims escape his gruesome plans. Tim figures her out quite quickly, yet he promises her to keep her mission a secret and help her.
Cassandra Cain joins the family in search of a new mentor. She has heard of the works of the Owl and desperately wishes to join in order to cleanse herself of her past crimes. Bruce takes her under his wing and introduces her to a life more peaceful than she's ever known. She later on becomes the "Black Swan" and teams up with Stephanie after her father's death and her rebirth as the "White Swan".
Damian Al Ghul-Wayne has been training under his mother and grandfather his entire life. Though Bruce disagrees with some of their beliefs, the league and the birds are allies and him and Talia remain on good terms. When Ra's is murdered and the league has to go into hiding to avoid being uncovered, Talia leaves Damian with Bruce and he becomes Bruce's Talon.
This is all still in the works but MAN. just imagine the possibilities I could cook up with this. I will definitely add more supernatural elements as to balance out Jason's arc, however.

-Alfred Pennyworth as The Seventh Fairy from Sleeping Beauty/ The Fairy Godmother from Cinderella/The Fairy With the Turquoise Hair from Pinocchio/The Enchantress from Beauty and the Beast
-Bruce Wayne as The Pied Piper
More info under the cut
You might notice that some of these characters are not from the Batfam; that is because I love these characters and was inspired to match them with fairy tales and couldn't resist fitting in. Others may well be cast later, but do not expect every fairy tale to have a dc counterpart (though I will do my best) and every dc character to have a fairy tale counterpart (that's just a fool's errand).
All dc characters keep their name, appearance, gender, ethnicity and as many as their personality traits as I can cram in them. All fairy tales are more a source of inspiration than accurate retelling as they have been heavily edited to suit the characters' personality and themes and mash together in intertwined storylines.
Bonus dc characters that I have cast in the Neverafter universe but aren't part of the storyline (for now):
-Lian Harper as the Cheshire Cat
-Koriand'r as Rapunzel
-Oliver Queen as Robin Hood

I have a very specific crossover in my head I rarely go to where Emma Swan from OUAT is adopted by Batman.
She is his second kid, Dick was still Robin when she was adopted, and Cassandra had not quite yet joined the family. Bruce tried to stop at least that one kid from going into danger but Emma was the saviour from the start. She takes a Page out of Tim awfull book of shitty codenames and names herself The Swan.
I have no figured much more yet, except that she is really close to Jason. Also that Lilith runs away from home and since for fairy tale destiny reasons she keeps meting Emma she ends up geting adopted by the rogues gallery.
The only other thing is while Henry would still exist in this AU cause I like him as characther. Emma would not have given birth in jail nor have reason to abandon him, Emma stills calls him Henry for destiny reasons, but the middle name is not Daniel and likely is Alfred.
That's to say I'm also following his first origin story because it was written before DC did it's best to assassinate Talia's characther for the sake anti-arab sentiment. So Talia gave Damian up to adoptiob but made sure that he would end up in an - apparently - good family. That's to say Regina adopts Damian, and that's how the curse gets to Emma.

Btw transphobes and terfs dni get the fuck out of here get the fuck away from me no one wants you here if you don't like this block and move on
post Lazarus transfem Jay, where no one knows shit about her coming back until completely accidentally, partly bc she's not even the (sole) center of attention
Damian is sent to Gotham and is one day like btw I have some sisters and Bruce is like..... "Are They Mine" (Wait I Might Have Girls 🥺) (secret girldad Bruce for the win) and Damian is like.... Jane will be displeased if I say anything.... but I think Athanasia biologically is Father's..... but I don't want to lie..... hmmm...... "idk anyway look at the time doot di doot...."
Talia doesn't pick up when Bruce calls she's just like "girls go check if it's anything important or if he's just having a meltdown"
So now 2 sisters start popping up around more often to keep and eye out and check on Damian and one is super tall and buff and the other is much shorter and slighter but they call themselves twins even if short one says she's older and tall one is like "barely!! it doesn't count!!" which honestly yea they're sisters alright
That's how Black Swan and White Dove come to be known, Black Swan is quiet and seemingly ambivalent about the bats but White Dove sounds like she's about to beat the shit out of Batman and to a lesser degree Nightwing and seems vaguely displeased being around Tim's Robin but is cool with Spoiler/Batgirl (esp since she's gotten close to Black Swan and treats her well) and distantly polite to young Duke the very few times they meet
Tim's Robin: hey what's up with that
Damian:
Robin:
Damian: she has Issues With Men don't you know anything Drake smh leave her alone
Robin:
Robin: Oh. Yea ok that makes sense ig sorry man
Damian: don't tell her I said anything tho
(Damian to himself later: it's not Untrue but that's not exactly what's- wait ok that's kinda exactly what's going on here isn't it)
Btw Damian calls her Jane but her full name is Catherine Jane Columba (Mom's name + Jane Austen + Mom's hc maiden name) and she uses Jane with league sibs but CJ in general for everyone else
Anyway I imagine that Cass and Jane start hanging around more and are eventually considered neutral to friendly extension of batfam via Damian (and Athanasia and Mara when they're sent over) (Athanasia is sweet if a lil awkward and much younger than everyone else, Mara is very "You're Not My Dad just a sort of step uncle at best" but Bruce is like "omg,,, daughters,,,,")
Cass might even eventually come over for dinner or smth maybe as Steph's plus one and Dick would be like "omg I am going to big brother you so hard" and Bruce is like "are you sure you don't want to be my daughter" and Tim is trying to figure out if he can do his stalking out of affection and respect thing without getting his butt kicked and the Al Ghul kids are being absolute demons fighting for Cass' attention and trying to find out what Jane is upto
The Jane identity reveal can be totally anticlimactic (Damian says Jane wants to meet them and then at a scheduled dinnerthey meet a buff tall older female lookalike of the dead second Robin and they think "omg 😱 surprise older Todd sister no one knew about??" and Jane doesn't let anyone say anything bc she wants to see how long this lasts)
Or maybe there's some big fight or whatever or fear toxin is involved and a league sib is hurt and Jane unmasks to comfort and tend to them and Bruce or Dick (or even Alfred!) see her face and have a bit of an aneurysm and Jane's too distracted with big sister-ing to be too explicitly angry with the bats at the moment but makes a snappy remark or smth that gives her away ("miss me old man" /sarcastic and /derogatory if it's Bruce)
And uh yea anyway don't take this too seriously I'm half delirious and keep dissociating in turns and I just wanted an excuse for transfem Jason and ended up really loving CJ/Jane

Headcanons for a Batfam Wings AU
Preliminary notes
First of all: flying is hard. Humans aren't really designed for flight -- too awkwardly shaped and too heavy -- and while for the purposes of the AU I am mostly ignoring that, flying is still hard. It's a lot of very demanding physical work in order to get aloft and stay aloft; in this universe, it's probably equivalent to a hard sprint.
Flying is also very dependent on wing type/wing shape/body weight/body-weight-to-lift ratio. High-speed wings like falconiform or swallow/swift or small elliptical or most waterfowl are very dependent on active flapping in order to gain enough airspeed to stay aloft, and high-aspect-ratio soarers like gulls are generally bad at flapping but nevertheless rely on strong winds in order to get enough lift; meanwhile, broad-winged soarers like most large raptors have an easier time staying aloft, but tend to struggle to get into the air and have low overall airspeed. Body shape is also important -- the lighter you are, the easier it is to fly.
Most people can't really fly, or at least can't do sustained powered flight. It's a pretty major athletic ability, the modern world doesn't really require it all that much, and it requires consistent and constant practice. It's a little like being able to run ten miles, where most people could do it, if they trained for it, but most people don't train for it. The Bats, being Bats, train for it like crazy.
Some people have the physiological advantage of being overall lightweight with high-lift wings (look at Cass, who is tiny and slender and has enormous owl wings), which means they don't have to work as hard in order to fly (this is basically true for all sports, just a little more pronounced with flight since wing shape varies so much).
You can usually make up a deficit in the lift-to-weight ratio by active flapping, but you have to have the ability to perform that level of muscular exertion in the first place and also wings that are well-suited to powering themselves that way. Long, narrow falconiform or short elliptical wings work well in this situation;gliding-optimized wings (gull, albatross, vulture/hawk/buzzard, owl) do not.
In addition, just like sprinting, running out of energy is a problem. If you have high-energy-output flight (aka, high in flapping), it tends to limit how long you can stay in the air purely because at some point you just run out of energy.
Ground takeoffs are hard. Powerlift wings (waterfowl, some raptors, some elliptical) can usually flap their way up with a fuckton of effort, but anyone who has good soaring but bad flapping or a poor weight-to-lift ratio or even just needs high airspeed is usually out of luck.
The Batfam!
Bruce: Swan wings in a shade of grey that looks black until you see it next to something that is actually black, and then you realize it's actually a very dark, dusty grey. High-lift wings, high-power flapping flight style, which easily compensates for his overall body size (Large) and also means that he has the highest weight-carrying capacity out of all the bats, to the point where he can actually carry another person for short distances (Cass, Damian, and Tim relatively easily, Steph for short effortful flights, and Dick is about his weight limit). Physically capable of a ground takeoff without a runup, but it takes a while and a lot of effort. Slow-to-moderately-quick airspeed, good at steady flight, not optimized for agility and usually doesn't bother trying for it. Not a huge marathon flyer -- he's got the best potential for it out of the entire Batfam, and he can certainly pull it off when needed, but it's not something he does a lot.
Inherited his wings from his mother -- Martha Wayne had similarly-sized white swan wings that were particularly noted for their "classical beauty" -- she never bothered to put in the effort to fly as an adult, though
Dick: Wings are built somewhere between raven and accitripidae/forest hawk, in corvid black with a subtle iridescent blue sheen over the feathers (think brown-headed cowbird). Elliptical wings, pretty long for the overall shape but still, for his height, the shortest wingspan in the Batfam. Very mixed flight style depending on activity/conditions; he's capable of both a high-power active flight as well as powered level flight and periods of soaring, but he's optimized for high-speed, high-agility pursuit flight, both in terms of open-air acrobatics and close-quarters slalom and he is very fucking good at it. Nightwing is acclaimed one of the best flyers in the world, and Dick Grayson isn't all that far behind. Wide range of possible flight speeds and capable of bursts of extreme speed, as well as being a decent marathon flyer -- his wings aren't super optimized for it but he spends enough time in the air that steady level flight for multiple hours isn't really a challenge.
Both of his parents had corvid wings -- John Grayson had jackdaw wings, while Mary had iridescent starling wings, which is where Dick gets his blue oversheen from.
Cass: Truly massive owl wings, with a dark sooty owl patterning of white spots on a dark charcoal background and a slightly lighter and unpatterned underside. She's got the full silent-flight feather adaptations, which combined with the fact that she's the smallest of the Bats means she's got the highest lift-to-weight ratio of the entire Batfam and thus the easiest time flying out of all of them. She's also got the lowest airspeed limit of the group (again, highest lift-to-weight ratio), but that's more because her entire speed range is downshifted: owl wings are not well-optimized for high-speed flight or extreme acrobatics, and they tend to be unwieldy for power-flapping. She makes up for it with The most ominous dead-silent low-speed glide you've ever seen in your life, and also just by being Cass.
Jason: Big thermal-soaring Buteo wings (New World hawks) in a redtail pattern, cream-and-brown on the undersides with a dark rust-red topside. Despite being the heaviest of the Bats (more so than Bruce!) he can still make it into the air, and honestly he's just grateful he can still do that. Makes the most use of thermal and wind patterns of the lot of them, because his lift-to-weight ratio is almost perfectly balanced and he'll take any advantage he can get. Needs to take off from a high point that he can drop down from, because a ground takeoff is Not Happening (not even a launch takeoff like Tim: his wings are the wrong shape for it).
Steph: Iridescent purple swallow wings (and she is so incredibly proud of the color you don't even know). White undersides, which she tints to be Spoiler (it's similar to hair chalk? but for feathers. Bruce uses it too to tint Brucie's feathers more of a light dove grey). Very swoopy in flight -- she'll power-flap up to a high point and then dive or loop on a glide. Not much of a long-distance flyer because the power-flapping takes a lot of energy, but in flight she's the second-most acrobatic of the Batfam -- she really likes loop-the-loops.
Tim: Very long, narrow falconiform wings, patterned like a gyrfalcon in white and dark silver bars on the top and white and slightly lighter silver bars on the underside. Falconiform wings are hard to fly with in general because they're high-speed wings, which makes him wicked fast in the air but also kind of awkward, because the low lift-to-weight ratio (and the fact that falconiform wings are not optimized for gliding) means that he can only stay aloft if he's moving at extremely high-speed powered flight. Cannot do a ground takeoff on his own at all because he just cannot move that fast on his own two feet -- he needs to either dive from a high point or launch from a moving vehicle (he does this off a motorcycle or the roof of a car a lot, it's very cool).
Damian: Merlin wings (inherited from Talia) in Bruce's dark grey front-and-back but with Talia's green-gold oversheen. Falconiform wings, but not as long and narrow as Tim's -- his wings are built for high-power pursuit flight, with a lot of fast strong flapping and very high-speed turns. Currently the fastest of the Batfam in the air and the second-best at a slalom, though that will probably change as he grows and gains more body mass, but he's got limited endurance since he's basically sprinting every time he goes aloft. Also an afficionado of the launch-from-a-moving-vehicle takeoff, much to his and Tim's mutual disdain.
Duke: I'm not sure about Duke yet, but I think he's got something like goose wings -- solid, efficient, working wings without anything fancy but high-lift and strong enough that he doesn't really need to care about things like windspeed and airspeed and thermal locations like a lot of the other Batfam. He started flight training extremely late (Steph, despite also being trained later in life, was very adamant about learning to fly right from the start), so he's still working on getting up to speed, as it were.

— She is also intersex. She has PAIS, a syndrome of partial insensitivity to androgens. She is identified at birth as a boy because her genitals look male and the Drake family needs a male heir.
— She seemed to know that she was different from the boys. There is a lot in this, subtle or conspicuous - she sits quietly in a corner, clutching a teddy bear to her chest, watching her mother in fascination while other boys rush after each other with toy swords.
She differs from other boys in appearance, thin and relatively short, while the rest already reach their mothers' shoulders, and their muscles are strong and sinewy. She looks like her mother. Even Jack notices it-her lush dark hair, her lilac-blue eyes, her thin soft body, even the way she smiles or how beautifully her swan neck bends when she bends over a book.
— She has been longing for a child since childhood, dreams about it most often, it's a little girl, occasionally a boy, sometimes even twins. In dreams, she is an adult and looks even more like her mother, but Janet would never look like this - a simple dress, bare feet in soft socks, carelessly gathered hair. She rocks a bundle in her arms from which a tiny hand reaches out to her, she cradles a crying baby and baby calms down squeezes a tiny face into her neck.
Sometimes she is only pregnant with her child - she is sitting by the fireplace, and the fabric of her dress hugs her stomach, she gently holds her hand on it and looks lovingly at the man standing in the doorway, her love and the father of her child. He is faceless, but she always feels love for him.
— She buys her own things, necessities and her own wishes from an early age, at the age of 7, her Father simply entrusts her with her own card and tells her to use it wisely. She obeys him. All her clothes are actually girlish, even T-shirts and shorts.
She always dresses at home when the housekeeper comes, a kind grandmother with smiling wrinkles at the corners of her eyes. She puts on a T-shirt dress and shorts.
Her hair is always long, but not too long to pay attention to, their gently curling tips touch her neck. Janet calls her Mom's boy with a smile.
— Her body reacts to testosterone and other male hormones with great reluctance and somehow. She has a light light fuzz on her body, a slightly low voice and she grows tall. She or her parents have to say that she is a boy because everyone who meets her for the first time calls her a girl. She doesn't want to dissuade them.
— She makes the transition after her mother's death and while her father is in a coma. Bruce, her guardian, is incredibly gentle and understanding, besides he is already the father of Elissa Adelia Grayson.
It feels like a sweet relief, as if she was standing on the edge, immoderately changing from foot to foot and finally she took a step forward, and soared into the sky, spreading her wings.
— She falls in love with Kon-El, Conner Kent, Superboy, her best friend and her soulmate abruptly and unexpectedly. It's just that one day, in his presence, her heart does her sister's signature somersault and she wants his strong but gentle hand to squeeze hers. He appears in her dreams, he is her beloved husband and the father of her child. She holds her hand on her stomach, Kon hugs her.
— When Bruce, her father, her Kon, Bart are dead, she feels her mind bursting at the seams under the onslaught of grief and pain. She collects Kon's things, everything could keep his pieces in. She thinks it's wrong...
— She holds her hand on the warm glass, the soft greenish liquid gently sparkles, two tiny embryos, viable and developing, seem to react to this, react to her. She puts her other hand on her stomach, a ghostly warmth warms her from the inside. Everything is almost as she dreamed, only Kon is not around.
she is everything to me. you can't even imagine she is everything to me
whenever i thought about tim as a girl in the context of this au, i always ended up thinking that in that case, cloning a child wouldn't be a mistake/accident but rather a planned and expected outcome, so you've pretty much guessed my own headcanons
(I'd sooo read a fic about her. scratch that I'd write a fic about her if could still write but oh well)

Tim when wearing the feathers and being a swan is 100% an asshole on purpose
however, only the c4 know he's the swan, and maybe constantine
Everyone else? They think he's a normal, though highly intelligent, asshole swan but they can't/won't hurt him since he's just an innocent animal after all and they can't really prove that the swan was the one to cause that last fire, how could a swan do that anyway? The swan has no hands!
Tim totally uses his swan form to be petty and air out his grievances against people. The only person 100% free from his shenanigans is Cass.
Tim rarely takes revenge against Alfred (mainly because he's too scared Alfred will somehow know Tim is the swan as well as Alfred usually being a decent family member).
Bruce gets 40% of Tim's shenanigans and chaos as a swan. He also isn't afraid to utilize Damian's fondness for animals as a barrier against retaliation (not that anyone would harm animals. Tim just has Damian use his puppy dog eyes so that Tim's cool down time between pranks is less).
Swan Tim loves threatening people with weapons. Nothing is quite as scary as a swan with a bomb

At the Mermaid: Punk, Grindcore and Napalm Death in 1980s Birmingham
The Mermaid was a large, dilapidated pub in Sparkhill, a working-class neighbourhood 3 miles south of Birmingham city centre. The Mermaid was vital to the early days of the band Napalm Death and the creation of a new heavy metal subgenre: Grindcore.
There was a lack of live music culture in Birmingham in the 1980s, and there weren’t many places where a band could reliably get regular gigs, develop its sound, experiment, and build a reputation. The Mermaid was a vital space for the underground music scene.
Regulars to the Mermaid speak of the impressive range of underground music showcased at the pub. Indie bands like Primal Scream, post-punk bands Au Pairs and World Domination Enterprises, experimental rock band Swans, early gigs for Chumbawumba, and even reggae and free festival dance music. However, only Napalm Death could claim the ‘house band’ status at the Mermaid.
The impact of this short-lived scene in the 1980s is still profoundly felt. People had found lifelong friends, and the music continued sending sonic shockwaves worldwide.
In this film, we interview Matthew Knight and Tim Richardson, Mermaid regulars; Justin Broadrick, Member of Napalm Death and Godflesh; Nicholas Bullen, Founding Member of Napalm Death Nicholas Bullen and Sarah Lafford, Lead Researcher at Home of Metal.

Hi guys, I'm still on my Neverafter AU (batfam X horror fairy tales) bs and I've cast almost all of the batfam members I know well enough to cast, and I have a little conundrum when it comes to Babs.
I'm hesitating between Vasilia from Vasilia and Prince Vladimir, and the Fairy Queen from The Wild Swans. I will say that in any case this AU retains her core personality traits and she will be a wheelchair user, though because the story in the AU takes place after the end of the fairy tale that doesn't mean she would be in the wheelchair during the fairy tale itself.
Vasilia Pros: Vasilia is an absolute icon. When her husband gets captured, she disguises herself, beats the Prince's troops in wrestling and defeats him in chess to win back his safety- a badass heroin from a tale that I will definitely read to my children, and pretty fitting for Babs' Batgirl og era!
Vasilia Cons: As iconic as Vasilia is, I'm hesitant because she does these amazing things to save her husband, and it's frustrating how many fairy tales with clever women are centered around romantic love as the main motivator. If I were to go down this route, I would counter this issue by changing "save her husband" for "save her dad" and make Jim Gordon in need of rescue.
Fairy Queen pros: So, in the Neverafter AU, fairies are powerful beings who enforce and protect the story by giving great boons or curses. As an archetypical unnamed character, she could appear amidst many stories to give a boon, which feels very fitting to how powerful Oracle is and the image of Oracle popping in someone else's comic, dumping the lore that will make the plot move forward and going back to her CIA-hacking duties. Furthermore, as a Neverafter Fairy, she would have a lot more meta knowledge of the narrative and different worlds, making her a magical information broker. This would also allow me to give lore basis to her relationship with Cass, who I am casting as Princess Elisa from the Wild Swans, which is a nice bonus.
Fairy Queen cons: Neverafter fairies, good or bad, are enforcers of the narrative, because they are (rightfully) afraid of the collapse of words and see no other alternative than keeping the story in its bounds. That feels a little cop-ish, and definitely doesn't sit right with my perception of Barbara's relationship to autonomy and self-determination. I would counter that issue by making her a Rogue Fairy who had that arc of deciding she can't let her fear of the Authors rule and limit her, and had turned her back on the other fairies at the beginning of the story.
(also if anyone has suggestions for the Bruce and Tim casting because i am NOT finding anything for them, I'll take it please!!)

ok you gotta hit me with that Swan Princess au because if I can't get around to writing my ballet au then somebody needs to be out here writing the gay Swan Lake content
Okay SO!! It's blending some Swan Lake and Swan Princess story details, but it's primarily based on the 90s cartoon Swan Princess. Which means I canNOT make up my mind about who's playing the Derek part and who's got Odette's
Jon as Derek is so so so good because he regularly fucks up when he speaks lol, but on the other hand, he is very fatalistic and would more likely to be like "😔 i'm a swan now" imo
Martin as Derek is great bc he gets to fight with swords and bows and arrows and I'm so down for that, I also would enjoy pairing him with Melanie as a more capable Bromley and their banter would be 👌, but I also want Martin to have talking animal friends
So atm, Jon is Derek, Tim is Bromley, and Sasha is Rogers--she gets to be so sarcastic, I'm looking forward to this (she's Rogers no matter who's Derek), and then we've got Martin as Odette (turning into a swan now involves like Fog and Loneliness and shit), and Basira, Georgie, and Melanie are the talking animal friends (I haven't really decided who's who yet, but I think Georgie would fit Puffin's "No fear!" mentality lol)
And basically, here's a rundown so far:
martin and jon grow up together as princes from neighboring kingdoms where their parents/guardians (idk i haven't decided yet how to play this) are hoping they'll fall in love, get married, and unite their kingdoms (why are the parents letting love make the decision and not political savvy and treaties? idk, love is magic lol). when they're finally like old enough to get married, jon's like "yes great let's get married" and martin goes "sounds good, but do you actually like me?" and jon's like "…in general or…?" martin's like "that answer sucks, we're not getting married" so he and his guardian leave, and then they're ATTACKED BY AN EVIL SORCERER WHO WANTS TO STEAL MARTINS KINGDOM martin was kidnapped by an evil sorcerer and is turned into a swan every morning and only becomes human again if he's on the lake when the moon's light is on the water. jon has no idea where martin is and spends lots and lots and lots of time doing research to try to find him, and when he does find martin, he fucks up the rescue plan because he's tricked by the sorcerer and martin dies so jon battles the sorcerer to the death, which idk magic somehow restores martin to life. but jon doesn't know martin's alive again, so he's crying and holding martin's body and finally using his proper words to tell martin how sorry he is and how much he loves him
Someday I'll make up my mind and will actually be able to start writing it lol

Batfam x Addams AU
Janet Drake was once Janet Addams. Jack fell in love with her while they were both tomb robbing the same site. Jack took to the Addams Ways like a duck (drake) to water. Tim is the most “normal” of the family but that’s not saying much.
The whole family knows that Bruce is Batman but Tim figured it out first. They like being in on the secret and act like they are part of the team since they are “in the know”. They often drop hints to Bruce that they know or about shady business dealings. They think it’s their Job to gather information for Batman on their travels and from their business events.
When Jason dies, the Drake parents encourage Tim to go through with his plan to either get Dick to come back as Robin, or become Robin himself. He’s already got a bit of training, his parents insisted on it from a young age. And Dead language are a family thing.
Instead of Jack and Janet dying, they willingly let Bruce take majority custody over Tim. They tell him they trust no one better outside of their family to watch over him and since he’s quite attached to the Wayne family, they don’t mind shared custody. Not to mention it would make his life easier to do his Robin duties if he lived with Bruce.
They will continue to gather information for Bruce to use as Batman while they travel and run Drake industries. And oh Bruce, you can tell your other kid that he can just call us Uncle Jack and Aunt Janet, no need for all this Mr and Mrs Drake nonsense.
Then they just swan off to their next flight. Off to another (most likely illegal) archaeological dig. All while Tim just stands their like it’s no big deal. He just came clean about basically STALKING Batman and that his parents also know.
Like, how would all this affect how the other batkids interact with Tim? He’s the most normal sure but even he doesn’t mind some mild torture and a good sword fight. It can’t be that different that staying with his mothers Cousin.
His cousins Wednesday and Pugsly are always torturing each other and don’t mind letting him be the victim sometimes. And his Uncle Gomez has taught him to always have a sword ready. Alfred gives him a funny look whenever he asks for his favorite Nightshade Berry Tea though, so maybe living with the Waynes will be a little more difficult.
