One of my favourite things to think about is adult Duchess and how unbelievably bittersweet she will feel once she has to stop dancing.

The best and luckiest ballet dancers in the world retire around their early 40s (and that’s only if they are very very lucky), with most of them retiring around their late 20s-early 30s.

She would be the first descendent of the swan princess to find herself unable to dance. She would be the first to undergo the chronic pain and muscle cramps that will lead her to abandon her biggest passion. I can’t help but imagine how, even if it will be painful to abandon the art she has perfected throughout her life, it will also be a symbol of longevity, something that will be hers purely. It’s a medal that tells the world “Look at me! I got my happily ever after!”

Oh man I love Canadian geese, they distract everyone so loons can show up

at my work canadian geese are jjjuuuuuust tall enough to trigger the automatic doors

and when it gets hot

their babbies will run in to the air conditioning, and the adults wont follow

then they notice the babbies are MIA

and i wind up being the only person with enough experience dealing with animals that im the negotiator in this situation

scooping up baby geese and ushering them back out to the parents without getting my fingers bit

got sent this album by a moot and it's honestly one of the most fucking interesting things i've ever heard, it has this kind of silly but nicely off putting sound with the first half being this mish mash of some really odd (and enjoyable) songs that all kinda join up together with some really nice transitions and the second one having longer more ""conventional"" (for this album at least) separate songs, my favorite of which being the one i linked

some seriously good shit i'd recommend anyone reading to give it a listen even if it's not your cup of tea (it definitely is mine)

discovering this kinda stuff is one of the reasons i use tumblr in the first place

on the replies to one of my previous posts i was told this was one of SWANS' peaks and i can't say i disagree, this album is so FUCKING good every single song on it is brimming with atmosphere and there are so many highlights it's hard to choose just one, considering this album came right after Holy Money (the next album on this list, since i listened to both) it's insane how different this album sounds to their earlier stuff, but it's seriously great. haunting album and extensively memorable, definitely one of my favorite SWANS albums.

on the other side of the coin though...

HOLY MONEY

...was probably my least favorite SWANS record! (or maybe Cop)

Mind you, Greed is actually one of my favorites, and i love the way it sounds and how fucking brutal some of the songs on it are, but there's something about Holy Money that really just didn't catch me as much, and i felt the new versions of Greed songs (Fool and Money is Flesh) just really weren't that interesting, and Fool especially kind of diminished the spaciousness i loved so much about the original version.

It's still a very good album (it's SWANS, come on) but it definitely felt like a bit of an afterthought, like leftovers from the previous album that should have just been in it. The live versions of these songs go hard as fuck though listen to PUBLIC CASTRATION IS A GOOD IDEA (yeah) if you want to hear them in their fullest potential. brutal stuff.

1000 HURTS

I fucking love Shellac's debut (At ACTION PARK), but never explored much of their work aside from it until i saw this album in a moot's top albums list, and got to thinking damn maybe i should listen to more of their stuff, and boy am i glad i did.

It was very very weird hearing Steve Albini sing after being used to Big Black and the first Shellac album, but i think he did a really solid job and i found myself enjoying his vocals a lot throughout the album

the songs were all really mean and noisy and immaculately produced like any proper Steve Albini project (them god damn drums!!!) and i've been compelled to give it a listen every time i scroll past it on my files. good shit. give it a listen

The Lost Swan - Prologue

/Oh man this is my first posting this kind of story here and I usually reserve it for friends alone but I wanted to share my love for Krauser too here as well. Quick note is that there’s two stories going on here, one linear and one non-linear so hopefully it doesn’t confuse anyone who reads them.

Will gradually post each chapters when I have time to and while the story is still ongoing. Enjoy reading it!/

Summary: Takes three years after RE4. His lover, Dullahan is kidnapped while on a mission and no one could find her. It's up to Krauser to save her before the life they have together is destroyed.

The sound of her humming was coming from the patio, filling the silence in the living room as soon Krauser stepped out from the kitchen. He wasn’t wearing his boots thus he silently walked across the house without alerting her and leaned against the glass door frame, watching her from behind. Natasha has picked up embroidery recently and quite fast, he watched her create an intricate design of a familiar set of flowers that is currently wilting at the table standing by his side. He’ll need to replace them soon before she takes notice of it.

Iris the Cat slept soundly on her lap while Clovis the German Shepherd stood by her side, her left side, guarding her, as ordered by Krauser himself. He took the free side, her right side, and ran his hand through the ends of her hair. It was finally growing out evenly and soon she could go to the hairstylist and get it fixed up nicely. Natasha looked up towards her lover and smiled softly at him. He tried to return the smile back at her but the smile he kept only to himself was still tricky to show to another person. He resorted to stroking her cheek to return the gesture.

“Can we go to the beach, Jackie?” She asked him sweetly, setting her work down at the table. “The weather looks perfect for a walk.” “Sure.” He answered, stroking her cheek once more and then tucked back the stray strands of her hair behind her ear. “Bring your umbrella too. Just in case.” Krauser was ready to help her up but Natasha was faster, carefully lifting up Iris from her lap when she stood up and carefully set her down on the rocking chair to continue her nap.

“I’ll go change then. I won’t be long.”

“I’ll be here.”

Krauser watched her head for the stairs with Clovis trailing after her. Clovis will have to stay behind with the cat before they leave for the beach. It’ll be Krauser’s turn to keep guard of her when they have their walk. No matter what despite their location, despite the alarm system, and the traps he set up, and knowing eventually she’ll handle herself as she is getting better, he will always keep her protected after what happened.
