ignore the shitty quality i was fighting for my life on the clown car while making this ❤️ thought process is basically ken remembers a lot of seawatts advice when hes in horrible situations. and i didnt draw any past this (canon!!!) moment in the hopper prison but i imagine during future escape rooms they also have memories of seawatts advice that she uses to her advantage
This is really cute 🥺 Seawatt teaches Ken a lot of Minecraft trivia facts when they do more trivia-focused escape rooms, and Ken teaches Seawatt a lot of glitches and technical tricks when they do more mechanic-focused escape rooms <33 (after all I’m always thinking about when Seawatt told Captain Sparklez that Ken taught him the “really cool” clipping through glass pane crawl glitch. Which is Ken’s favorite. Ignore how I know that)
I’m also always thinking about these lyrics from For Good (Wicked)
Tumblr media
Like the idea that the handprint remains even after the person themself is gone from your life — even if, in kenwatt’s case, maybe you forget them, the handprint is still there and undeniably theirs. I forget which kenwatt I said this in, but there are a few mechanics that I personally always associate with Ken and so I had Seawatt do the same: water redirection, certain crawl glitches, indirect placement especially.
Also… can I just say your Seawatt is so beautiful…

how and what they build in minecraft
headcanons
MAIN MASTERLIST
(other masterlists listed on main^^)
.
Summary: minecraft. you can make just about anything in that game. well what do some genshin characters make?
Warnings? Nope! But Wanderer’s and Xiao’s aren’t as long as the others because i don’t have them and i am not interested in getting them so i do not know what they are really like. sorry!
Featuring (in order) Kaveh, Alhaitham, Albedo (including Klee), Itto, Wanderer, Xiao and Diluc!
Mentions characters above, as well as Dori, Cyno, Tighnari, Jean, Kuki Shinobu, Nahida, Kaeya.
Modern AU!
Tumblr media
Kaveh
- this man is a literal architect, so it is easy to say that he will do great. he can make a lot of things, and they look amazing.
- i can imagine he would try to recreate his ‘magnum opus,’ aka The Palace of Alcazarzaray, in the game. he even put chairs down for people to wait. because there aren’t any in genshin.
- if he could, he would so get some furniture mods to make the place really pop.
- he would and has, no doubt.
- give him a few ideas and a prompt and he will be away building within minutes.
- i can see him making a security system so that Alhaitham doesn’t come in and.. do anything.
- he is so independent in minecraft it is unreal, because he can’t get into dept, he is loaded with gold, diamonds, emeralds, etc.
- he would definitely build with those materials.
- if he was in a server or realm, he would definitely work with Dori, and they would hoard all sorts of loot, of course make The Palace of Alcazarzary again with emerald and gold, it may take time, but they’re so committed to it.
- has quarrels over discord with Alhaitham about him even coming near the premises.
- “Alhaitham?! Why are you here?! You better not take any of our stuff!”
- “hm” he was merely looking around, he was interested, but never made it known.
Alhaitham
- definitely a casual gamer, and his favourite game mode is survival, or if he’s feeling adventurous, hardcore.
- if on creative, he’ll probably make a library with actual readable content, it’s a lot of work to do, but it’s something he’s definitely willing to commit to.
- ahem
- if on a new survival world, with Kaveh of course, they would have to share a house until they get enough resources to split and make an area their own.
- however, Alhaitham would make a normal, somewhat aesthetically pleasing house, and Kaveh… would either make a hole in the ground so that mobs won’t find him, or make a room in the house which is bigger than Alhaithams.
- “ugh, what now Alhaitham, can i not make my area of the house mine?”
- “i never said you couldn’t”
- but his face and tone did.
- if on a server or realm, he would go solo.
- definitely get shoo’ed away if he was near Kaveh and Dori’s place.
- he was only curious.
- definitely hangs out with Cyno and Tighnari in the jungle biome Tighnari insisted he and Cyno make their base.
- definitely has a dog that follows him around, and it goes by the name of Wafi, and so help anything that hits that poor creature, because Alhaitham will go full Feeble Scholar.
-also give him a chance and he would install an emerald weapon mod so that he can have his sword in game. sadly, you can’t attack with dendro.
Albedo (and Klee)
- Albedo is the redstone and potions master, no doubt about it and you can’t ever change my mind.
- if his world was expanded beyond, with complex things made, he would have to have certain permissions disabled for Klee who frequently visits his world, because he spends so much time on some things, the pride he holds for them all are obvious, and if something were to happen… uh…
- he has a world especially for Klee, where she blows things up until it reaches bedrock, and of course she tried to break the bedrock, but Albedo has to break it to her that it can’t be broken.
- “but you’re a scientist, surely you can break it!”
- “th-that isn’t how it works” he smiled as he spoke.
- he would test potions on Klee, the good kind, like night vision, leaping and others.
- on the topic of leaping, she would definitely have a place in Albedos main world full of rabbits, and would try to name them all Jumpy Dumpty.
- on a server or realm, Klee would have a piece of land all to herself so she can blow things up without it damaging everyone else’s areas.
- Albedo’s base is home to the Nether portal, so whenever others would come to the portal, they were always welcome to get some fire resistance potions or enchanted weapons, etc.
- oh, and as well as the End portal.
- he is the keeper of the Ender Dragon egg so that no one else loses it, he builds an entire hidden room for it that literally no one else can find.
- shares his base with Jean, he has the scientific side of it.
- she observes Klee too to make sure she doesn’t clash with others.
- Jean and Albedo are the owners of the server/realm.
Itto
- two words, cow farm
- this man has as many cows as one could imagine, in his house, a cave, he lives with a cow named Ushi.
- of course still the Gang are there.
- they have their own houses, in a small town like area near a village, and they actually are at peace with them, they don’t take things from their chests.
- the worst they do is take their crops, but they do eventually plant more in its place.
- their best type of weapon is stone, mainly because they don’t have the best luck when it comes to mining, they either find iron or better but lose it after falling down a ravine or die from a mob
- especially in the Nether, they were a magnet for mobs.
- Itto has died the most in game out of them all.
- however, Kuki is the exact opposite, she is extremely lucky when it comes to mining and general in game experience, but is hesitant to share her things with the gang because of their luck and probably of forgetting where they put things. she doesn’t want to risk it.
- she learnt her lesson after she let Itto borrow her diamond pick axe to go and get some materials from their nearby mine, but he accidentally fell into some lava and lost everything he had on him.
- thus him begging Kuki for forgiveness, just like every other time.
- in a server or realm, Itto forgets to put some sources of light in places, so some mobs will spawn, he freaks out when creepers spawn, thus him not killing them, and thus a part of his home blowing up.
- i can see Itto fending off a creeper and it blows up in his storage room, and the chests are full of torches, thus making his game lag when they all drop, making Itto’s microphone audio cut out when the lag spikes.
- hey, his computer isn’t the best, but he’s saving up for a better one, trust me.
- he’s doing his best.
Wanderer
- he doesn’t have a set base, he has weapons, torches, food and a bed for his travels.
- sometimes camps in a cave when he doesn’t know where to go next.
- if he gets blown up or killed by something else in a cave or anywhere else, he will rage quit, and i mean rage quit.
- definitely the one to go to the end and find the boat that has the elytra, and uses it all the time.
- definitely doesn’t get lost, while trying to find the portal back.
- this goes for the server and realm too, if you see him glide past your base every now and then, then no you didn’t, he chooses not to hang out with anyone.
- but word spread around about the game and caught Nahida’s ears, so she joined and played with Wanderer a lot, her base is made of quartz and emerald, she even made a small base by hers for Wanderer for whenever he visits her.
- he doesn’t show it but he is grateful for it.
Xiao
- the sole reason why Albedo makes the leaping potion, Xiao has satisfaction of sneaking behind mobs and attack them.
- the mob he has tension with most is the enderman, as they can both sort of teleport, even if Xiao uses ender pearls for the skill.
- he solely comes out at night, and his base on the top of the highest mountain in his world, even if it’s small, it’s a place he can hide until night time, however, this doesn’t work well in a server or realm when others want to sleep and pass the night, Xiao is out hunting for loot, especially endermen.
- has come across Wanderer on his travels, they sometimes travel together, but they don’t communicate to each other, only on some occasions.
- “Huh! You!”
- “Hmph” Wanderer muses.
Diluc
- on his own, he is fully capable of taking down pillagers and over taking the woodland mansion to make his own, and always makes secret rooms despite it only him playing on the world, these rooms contain valuable look, this look containing many fire aspect weapons, especially swords.
- when he first started this world, with it being survival, he struggled to find food and make it edible.
- but when more steady on his own, most definitely never runs out of food as he has plenty of farms to work on.
- and most of them are automated.
- like Xiao, prefers and goes out a lot during the night.
- he tested himself and put his game mode on hard, the mansion is by a decent size village, so he protects it all he can, even with iron golems.
- he definitely trades with the villagers too, and of course gets the ‘master’ trade level on each one too, and STILL has stacks of materials left.
- this guy isn’t scared to go to bedrock level and risk himself to get materials. Like Alhaitham, he has dogs, not mentioning them because of how many.
- oh, i forgot to say, Kaeya visits. Diluc isn’t happy (when is he ever) about this, but instead of banishing him from the premises, he has general rules, which Kaeya does respect and follow, thus them both getting along… sort of.
- in a server or realm, Kaeya does visit, but still respects rules and boundaries of everyone else, he stays with Jean, Albedo and Klee.
- apart from that, Diluc has enough food for everyone in the in game world if in need of emergencies.
- believe me when i say this, i can see him trading with Dori and Kaveh frequently, food for high valuables.
- even if they don’t really ever meet, all three of them are on good terms.

“Come on, babe!”
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
You rolled your eyes as your girlfriend, Natasha, pulled you by your hand and towards a store, GameStop, to be exact.
The redhead has always had a love for video games, which surprised you, in all honesty. It wasn’t exactly the fact that she was a gamer that shocked you, it was more like her favorite game was an unexpected one; Minecraft.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
Yeah. Natasha Romanoff, the world’s deadliest assassin, absolutely loved to play Minecraft.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
She had a thing for creating various buildings in survival mode. There was something soothing about going out and finding supplies to use that got your girlfriend all excited.
Natasha played the game on the computer you had in the living room of your shared apartment, not having a game station of her own. So, you took the liberty of buying a brand new PS5 for her just because. Now, the redhead was on the hunt for a PlayStation Store gift card to purchase the BedRock version of Minecraft.
Truthfully, you didn’t know the difference, regardless of how many times Natasha had tried to explain it to you. Although you tried to understand it, considering how much your girlfriend adored the game.
“So… what’s the difference between the one on your computer and the one you’re trying to buy from the online store?”
You questioned your girlfriend as she dragged you towards the gift card section, her eyes scanning the plethora of cards for the one she needed.
“The Java Edition is the original version of the game that was created for PC users, which is the one I’ve been using. You can do multiplayer with other PC users.
You nodded your head as she spun around the gift card stand, her other hand still firmly holding your own.
“The BedRock Edition is for gaming consoles. This version allows cross-platform multiplayer mode, which means I can play Minecraft with anyone, regardless of their console.”
Her eyes lit up when she caught sight of what she had been looking for.
“Considering there hasn’t been a release of Minecraft for the PS5, I have to purchase it online, with this gift card.”
Natasha smiled triumphantly when her eyes landed on what she was looking for. She selected the card and proudly presented it to you, a wide smile spread across her face.
“Ta-daaa, my ticket into the realms.” Natasha scrunched her nose up while lowering her voice into an ominous tone. You couldn’t help but let out a small giggle at her antics.
“Is there anything else you want, nerd?” You looked around the busy store. God, there were so many weird people here, nerds.
“Okay, first of all… I’m a geek, not a nerd. If you’re gonna do something, do it right.” Natasha sassed and you raised your eyebrow at her as she began to pull you towards the collectibles section, not before shoving the gift card into your free hand.
“Potato, patato.” Natasha flipped you off, lifting her middle finger up behind her back as she guided you through the busy store.
You let out a chuckle, then suddenly, Natasha let go of your hand and practically ran towards your destination.
“Babe! Look!! It’s a baby panda plushie!!” Natasha snatched the stuffed animal off of one of the shelves and quickly whipped around as you caught up with her.
“Wow… very cool…” Your voice lacked enthusiasm and the redhead sent you a glare, landing a soft punch on your shoulder.
“Uh, don’t even try and act like this isn’t cool. The panda is my favorite animal mod! They do cute little tricks when you feed them bamboo.”
Natasha hugged the plushie close to her chest. She gave you the best puppy dog eyes she could muster, paired with pouty lips.
“Can I please get the baby panda? I’ll give you head later if you get it for me.” You let out a genuine laugh at your girlfriend’s words.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
She was really bribing you with sex in order to get a stuffed panda; adorable.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“I mean I was going to get it for you anyway, but I’m definitely not declining that offer.”
Natasha let out a small squeal before pulling you into a bone-crushing hug. You winced, not being able to breathe.
“Babe, I- I kinda need to be alive to buy it for you…” You croaked out and the redhead loosened her hold on you, pulling back to peck your lips repeatedly.
Natasha let go of you and turned around to face the section once more. Her eyes lit up when she caught sight of another piece of Minecraft merch.
“Baby, look. It’s a torch-shaped water bottle! It looks exactly like the ones in the game.” Natasha tucked the panda under her arm, reaching out to grab the item that was on a higher shelf.
The Russian let out a huff when she failed to reach the water bottle. Shaking your head, you made your way over to her, placing a hand on her waist as you grabbed the bottle with ease.
Natasha rolled her eyes at you as you handed the object to her, a cocky smirk on your face.
“Show off…” Natasha muttered as she turned around to face you, staring at the water bottle in awe. She was freaking out over how detailed the design was and you’d be lying if you said it wasn’t the cutest shit you’ve ever seen.
“I’ll get it for you if I can get head, twice.” Natasha looked up at you with a smirk on her face, her eyes focusing on your face.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“Deal.”
•❅──────────────── ‎⧗ ────────────────❅•
A few hours later
“Natty, dinner is ready.” You called out from the kitchen, your eyes lifting up to eye your girlfriend.
She was sat on the couch in the living room, playing the version of Minecraft she had just downloaded.
Natasha completely ignored you, too entranced by the video game.
With a sigh, you made your way out of the kitchen and sat beside the redhead, finally gaining her attention.
“Baby, the graphics are so much better on this version than the other one.” You focused on the screen and watched as she opened the door of a home she built while you cooked dinner.
“Look at all my dogs! I killed a ton of skeletons and got their bones so I could tame a shit ton of dogs.” Natasha smiled while your eyes widened.
In a room of the house, there was nothing but dogs. The barks could be heard through the surround sound.
“Jesus, Nat. How many do you have?” You couldn’t believe that she managed to find that many dogs. You’d watched her play a few times and you knew that it took a ton of time to come across dogs in the wild.
“I have thirty. Aren’t they the cutest?” You turned your head to face Natasha’s side profile, a smirk making its way to your face.
“Can I try?” You asked sweetly and Natasha immediately handed you the controller, showing you which buttons did what, before letting you play.
You let out a small laugh as you began to hit the dogs with your hands, spamming the strike button as much as you could.
Natasha let out a scream as the dogs yelped, your hits injuring them. You’d known this was possible because the redhead cried when she accidentally killed her dog on the PC a few months ago.
Seriously, she was devastated. This woman could kill men without flinching, but she cried for weeks after killing her virtual dog.
“Y/N! What the fuck are you doing? Stop!” Natasha exclaimed, yanking the controller out of your hand while you laughed uncontrollably.
“I’m sorry, I had to. They’re not real and there are way too many! You can’t possibly take care of them all. It’s a small price to pay for salvation.”
Natasha sent you a harsh glare, creases forming on her forehead. You let out a small sigh, wrapping your arms around her waist.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“You’re heartless. I’m dating a puppy murderer.”
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
The redhead grumbled out as she tried to get out of your grip, but you wouldn’t let her.
“I’m sorry. I love you.” You shoved your face into her neck, your words coming out muffled against her skin.
“No. Go fuck yourself. You killed two of my puppies.” The seriousness of Natasha’s tone sent you into another laughing fit.
You pulled your face away from her neck, and sneaked a few kisses on her lips before placing one on her nose.
Natasha tried her best to keep a straight face, but that didn’t last long. Her lips curled upward and she shook her head, cupping your cheek with one hand, and kissing you deeply.
You disconnected your lips and stared into her emerald eyes. Her forehead was pressed up against yours as her eyes scanned your face.
“God, you’re such a nerd.” You breathed out when Natasha pulled her face back from yours slightly, a faux look of annoyance and offense across her features.ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“For the last time, I’m a geek, not a nerd!” Natasha huffed out and your eyes softened, a playful smirk on your face. You absolutely adored her and loved to piss her off whenever you could.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“They’re interchangeable terms for loser.”
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“Fuck you.”
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“I mean… I was promised head.”
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“I revoke that promise.”
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“Hey! That’s not how promises work!”
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ

Minecraft PE Maps
You will want to look for maps made for Bedrock. I hope you employ them and make some nice maps. But they stopped updating the Xbox one edition and so I’m decided to make myself be taught to accept the way in which the current version handles. I'm no professional on world files, however I'd guess many of the downloads you're seeing were created on Java Edition. There is just not complete feature parity between Java and bedrock at all. Bedrock doesn't have extra options than Java nor does Java greater than bedrock, however slightly they've totally different feature. In Vanilla this turns into a whole lot more challenging since the modelling and "coding" prospects are fairly restricted and you all the time have to search out environment friendly workarounds. Chances are high you’ve seen individuals play these maps online and they have develop into quite fashionable. People like playing Fortnite? I for one genuinely enjoy Minecraft, and have for a few years, lengthy before Fortnite ever existed and the recognition of battle royale games exploded.
youtube
The sequel to the favored Herobrine’s Mansion map for Minecraft, Herobrine’s Return is a superb journey map for the game that I’m sure you’ll enjoy. The Ender Dragon was the primary boss-sort monster to be introduced into Minecraft, and plenty of gamers have yet to defeat it. Players merely must defeat the zombies as they make their approach to your location. While add this is nice, most players may also want to make a camping kit and store the elements for either a grill, spit, or pan package inside, as each equipment type allows them to cook different sorts of meals. Try out the Team Fortress 2 in Minecraft map - a Team Fortress impressed map for the game which allows gamers to enjoy a fun sport of capture the flag. Your complete map is available to explore freely though there are some optional tasks for avid gamers to finish. Furthermore, throughout the post, there's a texture pack recommended for the map. This Minecraft tutorial explains methods to craft a map with screenshots and step-by-step directions. You possibly can also add a map to your Minecraft server should you would like to.
There are also particular servers that use map editors or can create customized maps for artistic video games and thus bring out further features. You'll can install most maps on this checklist by searching for %appdata% in your Start bar, opening the '.minecraft' folder, and placing the unzipped file into the 'Saves' folder. Was the listing useful? Outside of the foundations, a listing of challenges is obtainable for you to test off. So there you will have it, a list of a hundred and one things to build in Minecraft! Now that you have a good suggestion on what is a Minecraft survival map and realized a number of recommendations on you possibly can higher survive the preliminary stages, we'll cover a couple of of the popular survival maps. There are a number of different survival maps to take pleasure in however one of the classic go-to maps on this class is SkyBlock. SThis is predicated off the unique Survival Island by Ashien.
Essentially SkyBlock is a small island that hovers above the ocean with nothing else in sight. http://b3.zcubes.com/v.aspx?mid=2218101 had it for the PS3 additionally and liked the small maps like Skyrim and Mass Effect. Later on, plugins were added that allowed us to do things like brew alcoholic beverages as an alternative of making potions. In 2012 Mojang added Commandblocks to the game. If you’re accustomed to the PayDay video game franchise, this can be a Minecraft model of the sequence. The upcoming version 1.5 boasts even more content, weapons, and you still have a complete of 32 maps from every stalker launch (SoC, CS, and CoP) to play round in. With assist for purchases all the way through the games life cycle the community was already million sturdy before its full launch though. Therefore, you should discover one other way on methods to transmit your illness. Once this has been achieved, a brand new map must be crafted to ensure that a player to proceed "mapping" unexplored areas. The map was created by MNOPJH and acts just like the favored sport mode. There is just one campaign mode in your sole warrior.
Also, because the title of the mode suggests, you are free to create no matter you need because you initially have all the assets and blocks to use. You’ll must fastidiously expand out your island and grow helpful assets. You’ll want to watch out as the sport solely grants players six lives. Single point in Bramble Wall grants ability to create a hole between you and your enemies. This Brute will dive by enemies while you poison them. Your teammates do sensible things in fight, and human enemies will think a bit before they act. Although we used irl maps to navigate, it was also enjoyable making maps utilizing Minecraft's built-in function (I think the map update occurred shortly earlier than the server's creation). Throughout the map are secret areas that will give a history lesson on the park and its homeowners. For instance, all through the city, there can be secret rooms and hidden chests.

A Cult Classic I
— A WATERDEEP IRREGULARS ADVENTURE
The mysterious death of a young man involving cursed magics and the continued unrest in the city sends the party on a hunt for answers.
Actually living in Waterdeep turned out to be not so different from simply renting a room in one of its many inns. They spent the next few days working with Mara to learn a little bit more about their position with the family. And Bonu, in high key decorator mode, put both Keros and Grumbar to work at odd and random times. But otherwise the party dynamic was much of what it had been before the offer.
That is, until Grumbar left the house muttering to himself one morning with barely a glance at the other two. A quick promise to return eventually was all they got before the cleric slammed the door behind him.
“Should we follow him?”
“It’s Grumbar, I’m sure he’s fine.” Probably.
A few days later and still no sign of Grumbar, they were called to meet Mara and found her rifling through paperwork in her study nervously. After asking after the cleric and getting shrugs from the archer and barbarian, she sighed and shook her head.
“I don’t know if he’d be of help here or not. There was a tragic accident in the Castle Ward three days ago. Valuth Myres perished in an explosion. He was found among the rubble of his home with an untouched deck of cards. A wizard with the Watch recently confirmed they’re cursed, but we haven’t a clue where he got them. Earlier that afternoon, Valuth been seen bragging about these supposedly ‘lucky’ cards at a tavern nearby, but that seems to be all we have.”
With orders to check in with Kraag at the Watch before the case ran too cold, they made a quick detour for Bonu to grab a small basket of pastries from their kitchen and headed off.
It was a quick trip across town to the Watch House and the guards seemed already accustomed to Bonu arriving unannounced with pastries. Bonu, to Keros’s amusement, already knew the path to Kraag’s office and knocked before just letting himself in.
Kraag, surrounded by a pile of paperwork, sighed when the door opened. “So Lord Blackwood sent you?” Kraag asked as Bonu offered him pastries. Despite looking beyond tired, the half-orc took one with a nod of thanks. “I’ve got people missing. Continued unrest. And now people dying.”
He went on to explain that, over the last couple of weeks, people had been turning up missing in the city. Until any evidence of them were found, the Watch was at a standstill there, but Myres’s death was raising other alarms.
“We’ve spoken with a friend of the victim, Mateo Leeson, but he doesn’t have any idea where Myres got these cards. We have a dozen magic shops in the city and it could be any of them. Could be an outside merchant. Could have been a gift. Nothing’s turned up yet and I’m run thin already,” he said with a gesture to the paperwork.
Promising to do what they could to help, the two made their way out of the Watch, following a vague lead that could really take them anywhere in the city. Inevitably, they ended up at the Roaring Lamb for their usual lunch and greeted Nick with friendly conversation.
At one end of the bar an older human gentleman with long graying hair sat watching the tavern and making friendly conversation with any who seemed interested. Though there was a small keg at his hip, he kept pushing his glass back towards Nick for refills when his conversations lulled.
Plotting out their means of investigation at one of the tables, Keros and Bonu missed much of the altercation between the old timer and three younger men in the tavern. But as a fight began to break out, the two pushed aside their drinks and stood up to come to his, and the barkeeper’s, assistance.
Which, they would quickly see, was mostly unnecessary.
Though Bonu and Keros had meant to just scare the lads into backing off with a little show of force, the old timer held none of his punches and unleashed a quick flurry of blows in the face of the first thug to raise his fists. With him preoccupied, Keros rounded on the second and pulled an arrow from his hip. A flash of arcane energy flared at its head and he stabbed it into the attacking thug’s shoulder, causing him to go blind for a brief second and recoil from the fight.
Smarter than his fellows, the third simply turned tail and booked it. Bonu was quick on his feet, however, and chased after him, calling the guards as they sprinted down the main road. Keros, loathe to leave Bonu to his own devices, abandoned the old timer, who seemed just fine on his own with the two staggered thugs, and booked it after the barbarian with his net in hand.
After a brief tussle and ensuring the city guards had it from there, they took stock of the brief mess they’d made of the tavern. Before Nick could even raise a fuss over the broken glassware, the old timer slid him a couple of gold paired with a smile and an apology.
“You lads are spirited,” the old timer said, as Keros and Bonu each slid an additional gold to Nick’s recompense. “Name’s Edwin,” he said, inviting himself to their table.
Introducing themselves, they marveled at his fighting ability to which he laughed, taking a drink from a newly refreshed pint. “Just an old traveler. Nothing special. But I like the folk around here. There are enough bullies in the nobility, we don’t need to go fighting among each other on top of it.”
Against Keros’s better judgement, Bonu went onto say not all nobility was bad. The surviving Blackwoods were certainly trying.
Curious to hear those sort of sentiments, especially about the Blackwoods, Edwin reluctantly agreed. “But as long as its only them doing the ruling around here, nothing will change. That Sultlue was just on trial and nothing’s come of it.”
Taking a leap, Bonu suggested that if Edwin could help them out with a favor, maybe they could put him in touch with someone who had more power to change things than them. “We could put in a good word, but first we’re looking to figure out who killed this guy, Valuth. He sorta blew up. Kind of a pressing issue.”
Finding their investigation more interesting than a daytime bar crawl, Edwin agreed to help, especially if they could put him in touch with a lord. So they settled their tabs and headed out, with Edwin sipping at his flask as they left.
The couple of magic shops they stopped in were small and a bit skittish, having already had guards and concerned patrons poking in earlier in the day. They swore their products were up to code with the merchant guild’s magic division and that they’d never done business with Valuth Myres.
One shop they popped into was less of a magic shop and more of a general armor and weaponry shop with some magical wares within, but they stopped in out of curiosity. While there, Bonu commissioned a new set of armor and Keros impulse traded his silvered rapier for a finely crafted trident.
Duwain Bladesemer even agreed to give them a bit of a deal when Bonu yet again let slip they had connections to the Blackwoods. If they could forge an exclusive contract between House Bladesemer and House Blackwood for their armory supplies, Duwain promised Bonu even better deals in the future.
“That was productive,” Bonu said as they walked out, their purses much lighter.
Sipping from his flask, Edwin eyed the two of them. “Was it though?”
With night starting to roll in and being no closer to solving this than when they started, they split ways with Edwin for the evening. They would meet him at the Grinning Lion, the inn closer to Blackwood Manor, in the morning and try again tomorrow.
“I like him. He has a good heart,” Bonu said, leading the way home.
Keros agreed and looked up at the darkening sky. “But have you noticed everyone we work with is always drunk?”
Having left his fellows without much explanation, Grumbar found himself inexplicably drawn to the needle point tower that loomed in the heart of Waterdeep. While he had never intended to visit the Plinth, the strange dreams and troubled thoughts he had been having since he swore himself to the Blackwoods drew him closer.
A massive granite tower with spiraling balconies, the Plinth was a beacon for worshipers of the old gods whose practices were often forgotten and unwelcome. There was solidarity among the various priests, monks, and other followers within who came to remember they were not so alone. And as the last priest of Grumbar, Grumbar had planned to avoid this place with more care than he had avoided plagues in the past.
Finding himself there now, however, Grumbar’s feet brought him to a forgotten altar on the ground floor where darkness quickly overtook him. Instead of this tiny stone altar, he stood before a massive stone face, larger than any mountain and impossible to see in a single glance. Though the mouth of this face moved, its voice, rough like gravel, reverberated through his very being:
“Hello, my child. You lost faith in me, but I do not hold it against you. I have been gone too long and too much has changed in my absence. But more change is yet to come.
You have work to do. The land is in peril and the anima of this world is crying out. There is an evil clawing at the roots of the world, threatening to tear apart the very mountains themselves. Though you are a mere mortal, you are my only living follower in this land with even a glimmer of belief left in you.
Yes, you have broken tenets. You have not preached in my name for over a decade. But none of that matters, because at your core, in your immovable bedrock, you were still true… just… waiting. We have both been… asleep. But even the land will shift and buckle if enough pressure is applied. Now… the earth quakes… and the world wakes.
You have much work to do, my Chosen.”
Grumbar woke, sobered and alone, in front of the altar and unaware of what time had passed. When he had entered the Plinth, the sun had been high in the sky. And as he made his silent way out, the sun was rising once more.

Enunciating The Annunciation
“The Annunciation”
Advent Week 2
Luke 1:26-38
December 10, 2017
I realized last night that I never gave Kathy a sermon title for today.  I had planned on calling it "The Annunciation" because I love that word. But it just slipped my mind to tell her. I failed to enunciate the annunciation!
Good thing we can always count on the angel Gabriel to be at the top of his game!  When I picture this scene in my mind, of the angel Gabriel appearing to Mary to give her this astounding news, Gabriel is rock solid.  He speaks very clearly and with great confidence.  In my mind's eye, the angel Gabriel looks and sounds rather like our own Oliver, whose bass voice helps give our choir such a solid foundation.  Can you picture that, too?  I can hear the groans coming from the choir...there will be no living with Oliver in choir rehearsal now that his voice has been compared to the angel Gabriel's!
But since we know the angel Gabriel is not a human man, to be fair, the angel could also be pictured as a woman.  In that case, I think of Lexi, our seminary intern who preached last week.  Didn't she do a good job?  Her voice and message are strong, direct, and concise.  Very Gabriel-like in my opinion.
I think it's good to use our imaginations with this story.  Actually, people have been imaging this scene in their minds' eye for two thousand years. When we were in Israel, we got to go to The Basilica of the Annunciation in Nazareth.  It is a new church, built in 1969, but it is built on a site that has been marked as significant since the very first days of Christianity.  It is built on the site of what scholars are quite certain was Mary's home, the very place where this story happened!  There is a large plaza around the church featuring art from every country you can think of, a huge variety of styles and colors, but every single piece depicts the same scene:  the angel Gabriel coming to Mary and telling her she is going to bear God's son into the world.
I liked looking at the art, but for some reason, I can't sink my teeth in to this story unless I picture it with people I know, people I can relate to.  So for Gabriel, I like Oliver or Lexi.  And for Mary? Actually, my picture of Mary has changed since our trip in November.  Not because of the art, but because of the trip in general. The Holy Land is not the home of the meek and mild.  It is a hostile landscape, and water is a constant issue.  Living there is not for sissies!  And the people, they are assertive.  They are passionate.  In the past I always pictured Mary as gentle and soft, maybe even prissy and submissive. But now when I think of Mary, now I picture an older member of our church named Margaret, queen of the church kitchen.  She has servant's heart.  But she is not victims.  She will not be pushed around.  She can hold their own against any number of adversaries!  That is the kind of woman I think God chose to bear God's son into the world.
Thinking about this scene using people I know helps make it more real for me.  And REAL, that's important.  If we want real cheese on our frozen pizza, we certainly want real in our theology.  Doesn't it seem rather fanciful, an angel appearing to a young girl and telling her she is going to have a baby even though biologically that would be impossible for her?  As far-fetched, or even as made up, as it might sound, the Annunciation forms the foundation of our faith, doesn't it?  Our faith is based on the belief that somehow, mysteriously, God, in God's time and God's way, came to earth from heaven.  That is big news!
And clearly it isn't news that is the fifteen minutes of fame kind of news.  When we were in The Basilica of the Annunciation, from the main floor of the church we walked down a ramp and stairs to a grotto, and you can see the inside walls of Mary's family home.  Scholars believe this was Mary's home because Christians were making pilgrimages to this place very early on, and there are remnants of the "Hail Mary" prayer graffitied on the outside of her ancient home.  Mary's home became a house church almost immediately after the resurrection.  Being there was a very powerful experience. It is the closest thing I have ever experienced to physical proof of our beliefs that Jesus is God in the flesh, born to a mother and raised like every other child--and yet somehow different from every other person who ever lived.
Clearly Mary knew that, too.  Her faith had to be strong to carry her from Nazareth, where she lived, to Bethlehem, where Jesus was born. Let me tell you, Nazareth and Bethlehem are not close!  It's about 80 miles.  It took us about two hours on a bus.  Imagine that on a donkey.  Just for comparison, it's about 90 miles from Newtown to Atlantic City, NJ.  This is another reason I think Mary was made from hardy stock.  She would go on to make many other demanding journeys in her life, including returning to Nazareth after being with Jesus in Jerusalem when he was crucified.
Through all the ups and downs of being the mother of our Lord, Mary developed a rock-solid faith that formed a lasting bedrock for Christian worship through all these years.  The Magnificat, which we read earlier in the service, continues to inspire and challenge us to see the difference Jesus' coming can make for all people.  The coming of Jesus took her from a life of survival, to a life of significance. Jesus turned everything in her world completely upside down.  Her song of praise is not just about what God has done for her.  It is a song about what God does for the whole human race.
Yesterday morning, Phil and Wes went out and got us a Christmas tree.  It looks so nice! But boy do Christmas trees take up a lot of room.  They never look nearly as big on the lot as they do once you get them inside.  This year I heard of a unique solution to this problem:  upside down Christmas trees.  Have you seen them?  Apparently they sell five different models of artificial upside down Christmas trees at Home Depot alone!  You can get them from a bunch of retailers.  People like them because they save space.  The skinny end is near the floor, which allows more room for presents or furniture or just your feet!  If space if really an issue, you can hang your tree upside down from your ceiling! That way you don't lose any floor space at all to the Christmas tree!
I'm not sure Mike Daney would go for us turning our Christmas trees upside down in the sanctuary, but if we did, it would only be to drive home an important point.  The Annunciation--the angel Gabriel's words to Mary--turns her world upside down. And those words have turned the whole world upside down.  Mary had within her the movement of God who would bring rulers down from their thrones and lift up the humble.  She was mothering the baby who would fill the hungry with good things but send the rich empty away.  By creating space inside of her for Jesus, she was creating space upon which God's kingdom could come.  She was making room for more hope, joy, peace and love in the world.  She was nurturing the God who would take her, and all people, out of survival mode, and give them a life of significance.  What do you think: should we try upside down Christmas trees next year?
Well, they say there's a first time for everything. On Friday I did something I've never done before:  I was a guest on a radio show.  At least, I thought it was going to be a radio show. Turns out it was a TV show!  Nancy McCarthy, who is a member of our publicity committee, has a friend named Dawn who tapes a show every Friday morning about financial planning.  But this week, Dawn wanted to focus on something different, something about the holidays and caring for your spirit during what can be a stressful time.  She asked Nancy for suggestions, who  might be willing to come and talk about that, and Nancy thought of me.  When she called to ask me, I figured I ought to be able to answer that question, how to care for your soul around the holidays, so I said yes because, it's only radio!  I could look at my notes the whole time, who would know?
Surprise!  Using notes was out of the question.  There was not just one but TWO television cameras right there the whole time.  I am sure my face was bright red.  I have no idea if anything I said made any sense whatsover.  The whole thing is basically a blur.  Except for one part.  Toward the end, the host, Dawn, asked me, "If someone wants to get closer to God, what can they do?"
It was a secular video production, I had agreed to come on the show knowing I would be speaking to people of various faiths.  So I did not say, "Well, personally, I think you should get to know Jesus!"  Instead I talked briefly about spiritual pathways, pathways that are common to various religions, such as silence and meditation; getting out into creation; serving others; and using your intellect, studying as a way to get closer to God.  I think all of those are valid answers, and there are others as well--using your creativity, for instance, or attending worship.
But that question has stuck with me, because I do not feel I have answered it satisfactorily.  How can we get closer to God?  Isn't that what Advent is all about?  Our scripture lesson today is speaking to me, and I think maybe a good step, if we want to get closer to God, would be to learn to enunciate the annunciation!  When you think about it,  the story of Jesus coming into the world through a regular person like Mary, it turns everything upside down!  Jesus' coming to earth makes the ordinary extraordinary.  It makes the physical world sacred.  It takes being a person to a whole new level. Jesus called this level friendship. Friendship with God.  The ability to participate in the divine.  All of us have equal capacity to hold within us the presence of God.  And so all of us, we can move from survival mode to a life of significance, a life lived in companionship with God.
There are a variety of spiritual pathways, a host of spiritual disciplines, many "means of grace" as John Wesley called them.  But if you want to get closer to God, try being a Gabriel.  Find some way to tell someone the good news of God's love. Find some way to tell someone the good news that God is with us. Find some way to tell someone, you don't have to be perfect, or good, or even okay.  Maybe you'll use words, maybe you won't, but find your own way to enunciate the annunciation.  Let people know that if they want God to come into their heart, God is honored to be invited. There is no place God would rather be.
Try being Gabriel on for size, and see what happens.  If your experience is anything like my radio slash video experience on Friday, you'll be scared and flushed and question yourself afterwards, why didn't I say this or why did I say that?  But you will also experience a deep sense of satisfaction for having offered yourself as a servant and friend.  Because the truth is, all of us can be Mary.  Every single person in the world was designed in the image of God, designed to house God's very presence within them.  There is no one in the world who Jesus would reject as his very own dwelling place.  And all of us can be a Gabriel, and share that good news with the world.
We tend to think of God as up there, up in heaven, up above us.  Or maybe we think of God as being far beyond us.  But Gabriel's news to Mary was good news not just to her, but to all of us! The Lord is with us.  The Lord is in us.  Use your imagination, and find your own way to enunciate the annunciation. Amen.

Minecraft: Welcome to my Underground Fortress
I thought it would be a lot of fun to show you all my underground fortress in Minecraft. This is the game/world I normally play in if I'm playing Minecraft. So I have spent a lot of time working on this fortress which I built inside of a mountain. Originally it was my first hole that I dug to hide in for the night. And has expanded to what it is today. It has one massive bedroom near the beginning of the fortress, then I have a variety of other rooms from a treasure room/vault, armory, kitchen/dining room, crafting room, enchanting room, animal farm, crop farm, mob farm, portal rooms and more. I also have a bunch of villagers and golems that dwell in the fortress.
For the most part I created this fortress without creative mode but there are some aspects that I did switch the game mode for. As it just made it easier to create those specific parts of the fortress. But for the mass majority, I did it all in survival mode. I love to use the terracotta blocks around the fortress to give it a bit of color. The upper areas in the fortress have a bright/light theme of cyan, blue, and yellow but as you go down into the fortress it gets darker in shades. Purple for the animal and crop farms, and red/black when you get to the mob farm/arena and the portals.
Upper Regions of the Fortress
Mid Region of the Fortress
The villagers leave in the mid-section of the fortress where the crop/animal farms exist as I didn't want them in the main section of the fortress. As I get slightly annoyed by them opening doors all the time and on a few occasions letting mobs into the place. So they are banished to the mid region where I have the golems. They also serve as a line of defense if a mob somehow gets through the portals or out of the mob farm. Also technically below the animal farm is a natural underground mine. Which I'll probably extend the lower region into at some point but for right now it's sealed off. Another key piece to this leave is above the two farm areas I have sea lanterns inside of torches so it would seem like the sky for the animals/crops. Granted it doesn't actually matter. But I wanted it to seem like that. Plus that's less torches to put up to keep the whole area lit so mobs don't spawn.
Lower Region of the Fortress
The mob farm is one of those rooms where I would love to figure out a better killing method for as every mob farm generator I've ever tired to build based on the ones that others have done, never work. Mobs just never spawn. So my version is more of just a killing rink that I can turn the lights off then let them spawn naturally or switch the lights on then hit the button for the dropper to release one. This is where creative mode really came into play. There are many droppers each filed with eggs of different mobs. And the room is made of bedrock as there is literally no way to destroy it. So I can have any mob spawn in there without worrying about needing to rebuild the place. This room is in the section of the fortress that the villagers can't get to and is located near my two portals: Nether and End.
I'm debating on playing Minecraft again on YouTube but I'm not sure if I should start a new world for that or continue to use my world that I've had for ages. There are still a few things that I want to add to the fortress including:
Connecting my fortress in the lower region to the cave system.
Add an armory in the lower region along with furnace/diamond stash.
Create a beacon at the top of the mountain.
Create a horse/donkey stable outside of the fortress.
Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
