Am I the only one who feels very…off about the end of the writer’s strike?
Here’s what I mean.
1. The tentative deal met only last for a short amount of time, three years. So my thinking is that when the strike is over and the WGA and studios meet again, the studios are gonna try pulling their shit once more and another strike is going to go on, leading to another settlement. I can just see Hollywood pulling a PR stunt where they in the long-term try to play off that the WGA are a bunch of "whiny babies who are never satisfied" or some shit like that. Call me a pessimist, but I feel some long-game BS stuff is being set up here.
2. The actors have no contract. To me, this is coming off as the studios making a con that's deliberately weakening the solidarity between the writers and actors because one group is still striking and the other no longer can.
a. It makes the actors' strike suddenly so much weaker because their biggest co-strikers are no longer striking, and I'm worries that with those weakened forces, studios are going to use that as a means of more efficiently stopping the actors' attempts at getting a fair deal. They can starve them out faster and eventually force them to takes those AI deals.
b. I feel like the studios are trying to instill an "f-you, got mine" mentality that's going to further divide them as the writers get back to work while the actors keep striking. I mean, I don't doubt that the writers are going keep pulling for the actors to get a fair deal, but it's going to be a priority that needs to be juggled in the face of getting back to work, and I worry that there is going to be an inevitable resentment built up that was completely calculated by the studios to happen.
c. In the public eye, there are more actors that are prolific and wealthy than writers. Now, obviously, both are paid terribly and treated worse, but by that I just mean that it's a lot easier for the general public to name ten actors than it is to name ten writers. With the WGA, there was this clear underdog dynamic between the writers and the studios, making it very easy for people to take the writers' side in the strike. However, so much of the court of public opinion thinks that actors are rich and famous, and I worry that having them alone is going to risk a lot of the general public turning on the actors because of that incorrect presumption.
Obviously, the guilds leaders are smart, and I really want to believe that these things and others have been thought through before a writers' deal was reached, but there's a lot about this deal that doesn't feel right to me.
I can't be the only one whose thinking of these things and worrying, right?!
Hey, @niel-gayman and @wilwheaton, given that you two are industry professionals, can I get your takes on this, please? I don't want to risk spreading misinformation, but I just can't let go of my apprehension for this agreement and don't want to stay silent about these worries.

I just want to remind everyone (or inform if you haven't heard yet) that Universal trimmed trees that offered shade to picketers while experiencing a heatwave. I just don't want anyone to forget Universal purposefully removed a shaded area to discourage picketing.

I have a fundamental issue with anyone who's taking any kind of issue with the WAG and SAG on strike right now. I see a lot of comments with people bitching because of them being on strike and no one should feel sorry for them and they need to suck it and just go back to work. Oh and the dumbest one of all their a bunch of whiny millionaires. First not everyone that works in Hollywood that's an actor or writer is a millionaire. So you all need to stop just thinking that right now because if you do think that you're an idiot. Second them striking has nothing to do with your crappy existence or your crappy job. They have unions they have a right to strike if they feel like their needs as workers are not being met.
No the problem in our country is that we have a bad taste in our mouth for labor unions. Now where this bullshit concept came from I have no fucking idea. But the truth of the matter is labor unions are set there to actually protect workers. Like when studio heads that are getting paid millions like oh let's just take for example Bob Iger at Disney who gets paid 27 million dollars a year doesn't want to negotiate with writers that gets paid 30 times less than him. One of true issues is that we have studio heads that are basically greedy motherfuckers and they don't want to share a piece of their pie that was writers, not with actors, not with anyone not when they think they can get A.I. to write the movies and series for them.
It's also about the bigget picture of labor unions and the fact that every job in this country I don't care how small or big it is how good or bad it is need to have labor union. Cause the concept of the crappy job could be eliminated with labor unions. Of workers that have the power to be able to tell the bosses to go fuck themselves when they start treating workers badly. But instead we live in a country where the companies have all the control and the workers have none because somewhere along the way we decided labor unions were a bad idea. Everyone needs to stop bitching and complaining that the WAG and the SAG on strike. You need to start supporting them because they're simply doing what any working person would do with the ability, which is tell the bosses to go fuck themselves until the bosses decided to give them what they deserve as workers. And If any of you had any sense I would suggest you all go to your jobs and start planning, getting people interested in labor unions. Because it's the only way to completely remove and annihilate the concept of the crappy job in our country. Because until every job in our country is unionized. The Bosses, Companies and Corporations are going to have all the power and the workers are going to have none.

Remember that VFX artists are still largely un-unionized, and especially remember that when a corporation puts a leftists in your media they’re trying to sell you something.
I'm completely normal about this movie...

[Image Description: Castiel from Supernatural is saying I love you, underneath is an image of Dean Winchester with the caption: “After four months of striking the WGA has a reached a tentative agreement & finalizing the contract. If all goes well writers will get to return to work with better pay and protections. They did it. Go unions”]

My NIECE is a registered member of SAG-AFTRA. She is a working actress and entertainer in L.A.
This is going to effect so many people.
"writers deserve attention more than actors" literally only 2% of actors can pay the bills with acting. For every megastar on screen there are a dozen other people in the shot who are SAG. Acting gets so glamorized but there are SO MANY people in SAG who NEED residuals to live on. Background Party Girl #4 needs her check too!!!! There are people who play recurring characters on syndicated shows who cant afford health insurance!!! Ke Huy Quan gave an oscar winning performance and LOST HIS HEALTH INSURANCE the next year.

Facebook deleted this almost immediately. It's almost like the ultrawealthy don't want us knowing or talking about what's at stake.

This is why math is important. More specifically, why education needs to be rebooted in this country (’merica).

REMINDER: THE WGA AND SAG-AFTRA HAVE NOT CALLED FOR A STREAMING BOYCOTT.
If you want S3, if you want them to win these strikes, then you NEED to support and watch the shows you enjoy. You NEED to openly praise the writers, cast, and crew for their efforts. And you NEED to prove to the streaming services that THIS IS THE CONTENT YOU WANT TO SEE.
And you need to do it while dunking on the Big Wigs/CEOs!!!
