. ➡️ There are 9 essential amino acids in total which must be consumed as part of our diet (amino acids make protein). Unlike animal sources of protein, plant protein rarely contains all 9 which seems to worry some Vegans because they think that they may end up deficient in one or more of the essentail amino acids. . ➡️ However, providing your diet is varied (different plants have different amino acids), there is nothing to worry about and you will get all of the amino acids that your body needs. It really isnt something that needs to be monitored or planned. However, it seems that most people are fibre deficient, which is a carbohydrate only found in plants. . ‼️Breaking news. Fruit is good for you‼️ . ➡️ Honestly, don’t believe all that nonsense about fruit having too much sugar. The sugar found in fruit is known as fructose and is a natural sugar. It is refined and added sugar that you need to limit. . ➡️ Fruit is also full of fibre which slows down the absorption of glucose (sugar) into the blood. Eat as much as you want. I ate all this today along with 3 bananas. Whilst I’m on the point, the idea of getting potassium poisoning from eating too many bananas is also ridiculous. . Brussel sprouts, asparagus and mangetouts. . Okay, I’ve broken a rule here! I’ve always said that when preparing your meals with fruit and vegetables, try to make your plate as colourful as possible. The reason for this is because fruits/vegetables similar in colour tend to have similar nutritional value I.e. the same vitamins and minerals. . However, I decided to break this rule for two reasons. 1. I didn’t have anymore food! 2. I wanted to mix it up a bit and buy some vegetables that I don’t normally buy (I can’t remember the last time I had Brussel sprouts and mangetouts!). . It’s a bit too easy sometimes to stick to the same foods. . ➡️ A common question with quite a simple answer. Most nutrition, including protein, originates from plants i.e. the start of the food chain. I’m not saying that plant protein and animal protein are the same (they are actually very different in composition) but it is worth remembering that animal protein is effectively just recycled plant protein. . ➡️ It is also worth noting that you do not need as much protein as people often think. The National Health Service, NHS in the UK recommends just 50g of protein for someone consuming 2000 calories per day. With protein containing 4 calories per gram, this is 200 calories of protein per 2000 calories consumed.
