Sch Tip: Place your Fairy

Fairy placement is one of Scholar's advantages! Place your fairy right in the center of your group's position (usually in the middle of the arena).

Why?:

1. The fairy cannot heal while moving. This isn't just for Embrace; if you try to use a Fairy ability while moving, it might get delayed a bit due to how it queues actions.

2. This increases the range of your healing since fairy heals are centered around the fairy and not the player. You can use fairy abilities while the team is spread out and it can reach everyone where Indom and Succor sometimes cannot.

Some things to note:

1. After Dissipation ends, the fairy will be summoned back to your side and you'll have to place it again.

2. You may have to reposition your fairy mid-fight if the boss moves to a new position. If it's a temporary movement (like a short mech), then it's usually okay to leave it. In some cases I just have it follow me for a short while before repositioning it.

3. In dungeons, don't forget to press Heel after the boss dies or else you'll ditch your fairy at the boss arena and have to summon it again :(

To avoid screen clutter, instead of keeping the pet hotbar active, add Heel and Place to your main hotbar!

Rise/Fall of SGE characters as High School stereotypes

No one asked for this, but I thought it’d be fun to do.

Rhian- He’s a little difficult, but he’s either a very popular kid, that everyone knows and loves (or hates), or is either very quiet and has a difficult time making friends and mostly hangs out with Rafal. He has a new crush every week.

Rafal- I’d picture him as a whip-smart genius but not super popular. People know him, but not as much as others. He’s quieter in class, (mostly because he doesn’t waste words on useless topics), but yet also brilliant.

James- A very annoying popular kid who’s also very flirtatious. I simply cannot picture James as anything else.

Midas- Hmm. Probably a little intimidating when you first meet him, but a weller- known person that’s actually nice once you get to know him. He’s definitely cheating off of someone else’s test though. Kyma- Also very bright. She’s popular because of her looks, but she really only cares about her academics. (And maybe one or two boys). I can see her vying for valedictorian.

Aladdin- Quite literally the opposite of Kyma. He’s like James but without that classic charm. He’s definitely flunking most of his classes.

You know, One Piece is all fun and happyness untill you learn that the world and themes are actually some of the darkest and most depressing things that were ever put on paper. The biggest potrayal of this tho is the fact that many characters have different running gags and quirks that are actually products of their horrible past trauma and messed up life.

Luffy- Wants to befriends literally everybody because of his fear of being alone and picks fights with all the people he doesn't like because he wants to protect his friends.

Nami- Her greed and kleptomania were developed because her mom literally died because sge was poor and was never able to give her and Nojiko all they wanted/needed.

Usopp- Makes absurd lies about everything because as a kid he had to keep lying to keep his mother happy and when she died he kept on doing so to keep himself safe.

Sanji- Puts all women on a super high pedestal because growing up women like his mom and sister wrre the only good people in his life and men like his Judge and his brothers were fucking awful.

Brook and Robin- Super S tier dark humor to cope with S tier dark trauma.

In other words, One Piece is just a comedy passing drmatic anime, but I think we all already knew that.

Ah, yes, I love this topic so much.

But I wouldn't say One Piece is a "comedy passing dramatic anime". One Piece is both comedy and drama. The drama doesn't hide behind comedy at any moment. You don't have to actively look for it or read between the lines to understand the characters. I think Oda is an amazing writer because he manages to just tell us/show us about his characters in the clearest and most obvious of ways. He throws hints at us over the episodes to then explaining it to us very carefully how his characters are built. This is why I find so difficult to understand why people (mainly from the general audience or, y'know, dudebros) don't get the characters in the first watch/read. An example of a comedy passing dramatic show would probably be just any sort of satiric comedic show in which they don't actually address the drama but instead make jokes about it. Like It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (God I love that sitcom).

I know what you mean, though. You're talking about the whole "making jokes/running gags about something when the reason behind them is actually way deeper". And I agree wholeheartedly.

Luffy has abandonment issues and that's why he keeps wanting to protect his friends and hates being alone, Nami sees money as safety and comfort because her mom died because they lacked money, Usopp's lies come from trying to make her mom happy because his dad left them, Sanji has an obsession with women because they're the only ones who never hurt him, Brook and Robin have no filter when it comes to dark humor because they've been alone for so long that the only way they have to cope is jokes and nobody gets them except them... And also:

We treat Zoro's relationship with Tashigi as comedic at some points but he has so much trauma regarding his best friend dying that he can't be close to someone who looks like her.

We make fun of and exaggerate Sabo's love for Luffy to the point of brocon/possessiveness because he literally spent most of his life having forgotten him and when he remembers his brothers, one of them dies, so of course he wants to look after the little one.

Boa's love for Luffy exists exclusively because she feels safe around him and it's the first man who has never seen her as a sexual object.

And a lot more of these but, basically, Oda is great at character building and writing because these are not things that you have to read between the lines. These are not exaggerations for the reader to understand what's going on with the characters. These are just trauma responses that constantly happen in real life. It's just a well-written story with awesome, realistic characters, and I absolutely love it.

It's finally ready for publication! I have made so many posts about this (from planning to publishing) so I am so glad to finally be ready to share the first chapter (of ten) of my Hilson School for Good and Evil AU!

THIS FIC SHOULD STILL MAKE SENSE WITHOUT ANY PRIOR KNOWLEDGE OF SGE. If you have a question I will answer immediately and possibly address it in the fic text for future readers.

Fic will be updated every Friday. I have a multiple chapter buffer in case of writer's block or unfortunate circumstances, so I don't anticipate any issues getting this fully updated on time.

Yes, this AU sounds crazy. I am cashing in my "please trust my writing and read this weird AU" chips while only having seven published fics. But it still should make sense!

On that point, I would like to give my eternal thanks to @jameswilsonsupremacy for their help with finalizing the plot of this fic (the whole thing is plotted!) and making sure it is understandable to someone not well-versed in SGE. Also sorry Lucas I just realized you share a name with Professor Lucas from the School for Good and Evil. He's a side character in SGE, not a deliberate reference. I know it's weird to randomly see your name in fiction.

I would also like to thank users @a-case-of-the-ace , @thatpersonwithbooks , @deanbane , @everytuesday, and @atmaligaya for their encouragement when I was thinking about whether to attempt this AU at all given it's niche nature, and when I was writing (and having writer's block issues!).

Nice endings tied with a bow, just like the elusive School Master likes. Except here you are, reading their Tale. Which begs the question: what went wrong?

Hey cas, i just need to rant

I'm crying rn and i need to tell someone this

Ok this is a stupid way to start this but my duolingos nit working. Fine not a big deal. I went and told my mom and she didnt even let me show it to her and told me to get my dad to help me bc she doesnt know how. So later when my dad was awake i told him the problem and she was there. My dad was trying to figure it out and she asked if she could see my phone. The thing is whenever she asks to see my phone to fix something i end up seeing something and realising i might know how to fix it so i ask if i can have it back to try the thing and sge always yells at me and rips my phone out of my hand and says i have no right to touch it because its not really my phone. So i asked her what she was going to do on it because i think I've tried everything and i don't think it's going to help especially if shes not the one talking to the support people (my dad was). She got mad and said to stop complaining and give her the phone i calmly explained what i just did hiw when she tries to help it isn't helpful and it always ends in fights because she never allows my input (very calmly like i was literally just explaining my thought process and why i think it would do more bad than good) she interuppted my yelling and said that if when people ask to help me and i just call them mean and whatever then people aren't going to want to happen (side note the difference is everyone else who offers me help i am allowed to say no and choose wether or not to explain why as well) and then said if i dont accept help graciously then i don't deserve anything. (I have bad mental health and she knows that to an extent) so now im crying

And i KNOW if i were to bring this up in the future she would say "i dont remember that. That didnt happen. Youre making that up"

Every time i try to communicate how im feeling and why i feel that some things she does or says may be hurtful and damaging she takes it as a personal attack. I've been trying to get better at communicating my needs and feeling but everytime i do she makes me feel like im doing something wrong.

Sometimes i get so overwhelmed I'll start crying out of nowhere or yell or something and she'll either say im being dramatic or literally laugh in my face.

Please know you have a right to your feelings and if you communicated the way you say you did, you did nothing wrong! Unfortunately it sounds like your mom has some things to work out about not taking things personally.

As someone who also deals with this, I have to say that sometimes picking your battles is key. While in a healthy relationship, sharing your feelings is super important, with a relationship like this, it could just make things worse. So a lot of times I just ask myself- 'is it worth the potential fallout?' sometimes, if it's something really hurtful, it is. But sometimes, I just let her make stupid decisions. SO like in this case, maybe next time you could give her your phone, let her realize she can't help, and then move on to whatever the next step is. Because she's probably not going to listen to you, you know?

It sucks to have to think like this, especially as the child in the relationship, but it might be reality.

of course! i'm assuming you're referring to this one? if not let me know and i'll track down the right one!

i would definitely classify this fic as on the grimier side. it's a porn industry AU, and the focus is very much on what the reality of that life can be—the financial struggles, the seedy characters, the sexual coercion, and the sex work outside of actually shooting the films. there's drug use and drinking and the whole thing has an element of dubcon throughout. i did notice the tag said 'age gap', but as i was reading i couldn't find any specific mention of how big the gap is; that doesn't mean it's not in there, i could have just entirely missed it!

it's very well-written and definitely feels to me to be a very realistic portrayal of what people in this lifestyle are like, what the industry is like. if you read goodnightpuckbunny's SGE entry from this year (which you should, it's excellent), tonally it's similar, although i'd classify this one as darker and less hopeful overall, simply by nature of the work the characters do (and also the ending- see below). if you're looking for hot and sexy porn scenes as the main focus, this is probably not the porn industry AU for you (although never say never for fics along those lines if that's something you're interested in 😉), but if you're looking for a more gritty glimpse into what that sort of hustle might be like in real life, with all the downsides and poor decision-making that comes with, you'll likely enjoy this.

i think it's important to note that it's also unfinished, and there's an author's note at the end of chapter 5 (out of six) that confused me as far as the tone and what the intent of the author was towards the readers. because of this note, which you can go see for yourself, i am unsure if this fic will be completed. if it isn't, it does not end on a happy or romantic note at all, so if you're in a space where you're looking for at the very least hope at the end of a fic, i would not read this one unless and until it's complete.

I'm actually not the best at imagining voices while reading silently but here goes:

Agatha: I can imagine her with a somewhat strident voice most of the time. Or maybe she comes off as pressed when she really isn't. She also may have "strict mother" vibes to her tone as well. I do think she can sound softer when the situation calls for it, so much it surprises you.

Tedros: Someone loud and who has a slightly condescending tone of voice, or like that "I'm all that" tone. But also, really cheerful, passionate, and energetic.

Sophie: I don't exactly see her as high pitched, but maybe somewhere in between? I can also see her trying to have some "sophisticated" (or, Sophiesticated. Drown me.) accent. Her tone is mostly snobbish, and I imagine she can squeal super loud too..

Hort: I imagine him with a whiny voice.. I'm sorry. He's one of the only people with a clear voice in my head when I read in silence and that is the literal tone I hear.

Japeth: I imagine his voice very whispery and sibilant, like a snake.

Rhian 2: I imagine someone like a real good public speaker, so sure of himself and hardly messing up in his speech.

Rafal (prequels version): Hmm, perhaps very monotone most of the time. Or like, "whatever." When he gets mad though, then I assume he'll be louder. Also, I'm sure he would sound more charming when he's about to manipulate someone.

Rhian the First: I imagine a cheerful, down to earth sort of voice. Someone who likes to laugh and just seems to always be full of sunshine. Until Fall, I guess.
