20. do you say soda or pop?

99% of the time i say pop — soda here is specifically club soda. personally i sometimes say ‘sodapop’ because i used to work in a restaurant where we got lots of american tourists & it kind of covers all bases.

26. a scenario that you’re replayed multiple times

this is such a good question. due to the magic of ocd i play every single scenario on earth multiple times. sometimes this is bad and sometimes this is neutral. for example i have of late been thinking very deeply about how my life would change if i watched neon genesis eveangelion & also if shinji and light would be good friends. (i think probably yes.)

27. how many hours of sleep do you get

usually 3-5 hours if i’m doing in-person work or 6-7 hours if i can sleep in. the valourization of needing very little sleep is capitalist and annoying etc etc fgjkhl but people’s natural requirements actually do vary & i am of the Need Very Little crowd. (trivia fact: the average amount of sleep adults need is often listed as 7-9 hours but this doesn’t mean 7-9 hours is a good range to aim for — it means individuals need an amount of sleep that is specific to them & this amount generally falls within 7-9 hours.)

hope i am not bombarding u with posts today,,, got a words question!

what word processor or documents program do you use when writing stuff up for AO3? have you found anything that makes the copy-paste formatting transfer nicely?

like basically my options rn are to load my rich text from docs into AO3 and preserve the italicized text, while turning the line breaks and spacing super wonky — or to paste plain text in, keeping the spacing the way i expect, and losing all the italicization in AO3's text window. either way, it means spendin time going through the whole draft for manual edits when it's time to post :')

the thing i'm learning about being a sports fan is just.... you really have no control over this thing that you love so much and you've invested so much time/energy/emotion in! and that is so hard to accept! you can do all your little good luck rituals, you can critique the players and the coaching and the scheme to hell and back, you can learn as much as you can about how the game works....but it doesn't change a thing. all you can do is sit there and watch the players do the best they can! (and even then there's only so much each individual player can control!)

you just have to practice radical acceptance i guess! what's gonna happen will happen and you just have to sit back and enjoy as much of it as you can 🫠🫠

"What do you remember of being human, Echo?" The question is out of the blue and unexpected. But Sora offers a patient smile and tilts her head in curiosity, just enough that one of her ears flops over. It's endearing, if anything.

But Echo wishes she hadn't asked.

"Not much. Distinct memories are cloudy." A tired tone says softly, a pained recollection in her eyes and an acrid haze in her soul that endures, endures, and endures, "But I remember the discomfort more than anything. My body always did feel wrong back then. Misshapen. Condensed. Like it was too small for everything buried underneath, and that ache went so deeply some days that it would make my skin crawl. I hated that part the most."

At that, Sora's expression falls. She looks inexplicably sad, as if she'd hoped for a different response, a gentler one despite knowing the harsh truth about the dark future and the struggles Echo must have suffered. "But you had Grovyle, right? I'm sure he took care of you."

"He did, Sora, of course he did." A sigh, a flick of an ear and claws clenched tightly into the churned earth pressed under her paws. "I doubt I deserved his attention, though. I was too busy being angry at the world to give any care back."

In my lore, Echo does not look fully human during their time in the dark future. Since they were Darkrai before becoming human, and as a result of Palkia's reckless shattering of the Dimensional Portal which distorted both time and space, Echo's transformation was broken and accidental. They ended up looking pretty messed up and definitely (not) human. A lot of their characteristics as Darkrai carried over but rather morphed into something else.

And Grovyle, growing up in a world where humans have been extinct for longer than any living pokémon has been alive, has no concept of what a "true" human looks like. The only thing he knows is descriptions of humans from glyphs and texts in old ruins. Thus, he mistakes Echo for an actual human. And Echo, not knowing what a human looks like themselves due to amnesia, accepts this identification with nothing better to use.

yes, sometimes it sucks to be a kind person and to feel so deeply in a world that seems so cruel. in a world filled with cruelty and hatred and negativity. but do not let anyone fool you into thinking being kind and feeling deeply is a curse- it’s not. because yes, it means i feel sadness deeper, but i also love more profoundly.

i hold so much love and happiness and joy and optimism in my heart that it feels as though i’ll explode. and while the world may be cruel, i promise you, there are good people. there are average people, there are people who are completely different from you but share your interest(s). there are people who will open doors without a word, or offer you a sandwich and a bag of clothes when you’re down on your luck, or will see your semicolon tattoo and say “i’m glad you’re still here”.

there is kindness in this world. there are good people in this world. you just have to look. find local community markets, go to any conventions you can find (not just cosplay cons!!! i love repticon myself!), and talk to people. seek out videos of humans being human. i promise you- kind people exist and are out there. do not let the negativity and cruelty of the internet poison you into thinking everyone in the world is cruel, or that you have no one, that no one is like you. the world is filled with kind, helpful, good people.

After some consideration my blog is going to be transitioning to private / mutuals only. I’ll probably be considerably more picky with who I write with and it will only be things I enjoy. I don’t want to come off as an asshole but I don’t have the time or energy for anything but stuff I genuinely am interested in or enjoy.

That being said, if something doesn’t work out I’m always open to trying something else! I’ll still be open to plotting and new threads but only interested in continuing those things if they’re interesting or unique to me. I’m not really a big fan of casual threads that don’t go anywhere – if that makes any sense! :)

If anyone has questions, concerns or needs clarification feel free to dm me. ✨ Soon I’ll update my rules with a more coherent version of this. For the most part, the people I usually and consistently write with are likely to be unaffected as we already have a repertoire and I clearly enjoy the interactions. For anyone else I’m more than happy to try to find something we can both enjoy and work with! (Probably just requiring more plotting than winging it so I know what direction we’re headed and stuff!)
