I don’t talk about my love for Kira Nerys too often because. Look. I think if DS9 handles anything well, it’s Kira, hands down.
Her character development is a work of art. She is so traumatised, so angry, so beaten down and STILL FIGHTING at the start. She struggles so much with her PTSD, with the idea that she is ever allowed to be in anything but attack mode…
And then, slowly, gradually, she becomes a whole new person. She laughs, she smiles, she makes corny jokes, she does dumb fun things for the sake of enjoying herself. She has friends, she has a family, she is surrounded by love and joy and HOPE.
Even in the middle of second war, she’s DIFFERENT now. She’s not the same miserable angry person she was, afraid to let go of the vigilant surivival instincts that kept her alive for so long. She’s come back to life as a person who has something to live for.
She has done terrible things. Her hands are stained with blood. She is never going to be able to forget her trauma or the suffering, both her own and that of her people, nor the suffering she inflicted while fighting for her freedom. But she recovers. She heals. She carves out an existence where she is truly, genuinely happy to be alive.
I don’t need to talk about Kira as much as some other characters because this all happens on screen. It’s right there, and it’s beautiful and perfect.
Kira Nerys goes from a person who cannot conceive of herself outside of the horrors she has suffered, inflicted, and fought against, to someone for whom her trauma is just one part of the larger picture, a piece of a rich and vibrant tapestry that is now filled, overwhelmingly, with joy.
Kira Nerys is like, hands down, bar none, one of, if not THE best characters Star Trek has ever created. I love her so much. She is just, completely and utterly perfect, especially in her flaws.

Are people allowed to pass through Nana forest? What about hunting the animals that live there?
The forest Nana lives in is typically just nicknamed "The Lupine Forest" due to it having such big and tall trees similar to how Lupines themselves are typically big and tall when in their wolf forms.
It's not completely off limits to people. It's just that people are usually scared to pass through it due to rumors of there being ravenous monsters living within the woods that will eat any living soul that dares to enter.
Those that are "brave" (aka aware these are just rumors and not real) aren't banned from entering or passing through. It's technically open woods. So long as you don't throw off the vibes, you're good.
When it comes to hunting, that's when it can become an issue. Nana's father, when he was still kicking, wanted to avoid another forest becoming the victim to deforestation and overhunting, especially one he was raising a family in.
Typically, if people are hunting for food, they don't upset that balance of nature. Similar to if people are just chopping down enough wood to build something, and planting back down tree sprouts to replace what they took. So he'd make sure people did just that: only kill what you will eat and only cut down what you will replant.
This went pretty well and the forest was THRIVING until his untimely death. So Nana took the mantle of keep the forest at peace. She might not be as big and intimidating (at first) as her father but she sends plenty of people fleeing when they push their luck.
In recent times, the forest isn't so much a spot people target for wood so much as people preferring it as a hunting ground due to the thriving wildlife within it. Having been untouched by humans for so long, it has a very healthy population of animals that come in many varieties due to being able to inhabit such a peaceful environment.
And because these dense woodlands are filled with plenty of peak critters, many hunters, that want something new to mount their walls and brag to their friends about, flock to it.
Which pisses Nana off.
Greatly.
These are often the people that run back to their little towns and villages and scream and holler about the rumors of a monster in the woods being true after an encounter with an unhappy Nana.
Nana doesn't know it but she's a urban legend and cautionary tale to many (and not just in the Little Red Riding Hood sense)

For the 987 ageswap au. I can totally see old man quirkless Izuku be completely unfazed by Sorahiko's fury, while of course, Toshinori is actually intimidated by the high schooler. I can also see Old Man Bakugo and Sorahiko get along like a house on fire. But I can also all three of the next gens be confused by Old Man Bakugo and Old Man Izuku's friendly rivalry that still sounds utterly nuclear to anyone outside it.
Tumblr media
oh man... yeah, okay, for both Toshinori and Nana, they're baffled by Izuku's cutesy nickname for Bakugou and him being unbothered by the outbursts. Sorahiko... I don't think he'd GET ALONG with Old Man Bakugou (tbh, I think Bakugou, being slightly bitter about Toshinori only seeming to have fair weather friends, is suspicious about this ride-or-die kid attached to The Granddaughter), but I do think he'd find Old Man Bakugou funny
(baku-jiji = old man bakugou (derogatory), midoriya-jiisan = old man midoriya (respectful))

Do we just keep telling the same story forever? Meta on OFMD S1E7 "This is Happening"
In this S1E7, two characters--Ed and Jim--have to answer a simple question: Am I ready to tell a diferent story?
At the start of the episode, Ed's framing his time on Stede's ship as "sitting idle." He's thinking about preparing for the next adventure, whatever that may be--the next chapter in a story he knows and understands. Because there are rules. A ship has only one captain.
When Stede tries to prove that Ed can tell the next chapter in that story without leaving the Revenge, Ed is pretty unapologetic in his disdain. But he does come along, even while moaning and complaining.
Tumblr media
And Stede's just trying to tell the same story, too. What he imagines a pirate's tale is supposed to be, not what it actually is. He doesn't recognize the difference between nonsense and truth, he's so caught up in "entertaining" Ed that he doesn't realize he needs to feed Ed.
But in fairness to Stede, Ed has a poor grip on what he really wants as well. When he fantasizes as he flirts with Stede, he's not imagining a swashbuckling adventure. He's imagining opening a restaurant. He's half in his old life, and half out.
Tumblr media
Lucius, the unemotional observer, figures all this out of course.
Tumblr media
He sees that Ed is absolutely very receptive to Stede, and that Stede is crazy about Ed. But Ed is caught up in who he's been, without seriously considering how to move forward in this story he's in now. So Lucius confronts Ed. He points out that Ed's story as it is going now ends one way: pain and loneliness. And he asks if Ed wants that.
Tumblr media
Stede didn't want Ed to leave, so he told a story about treasure hunting. And Ed doesn't want to leave and be alone again, so he tells the story too. And by telling that story together, Ed and Stede find their way to the same place: beginning a new chapter. Imagining a life they can live together, without devaluing or overwriting anything that came before.
Tumblr media
It sounds nice, although it's shallow (Ed's not going to be happy as a pirate, Stede is bad at telling this pirate's story and he'll never be a successful traditional pirate). But it's still a hopeful story, because they're still moving forward. Right on the edge of telling a different story.
Tumblr media
And resolving in the opposite direction is Jim's plot. Jim's story is relentlessly upbeat and funny in this ep, but it's a tragedy through and through. Jim, like Ed, is half in their old life and half out. Has been with Olu for more than a year, without actually doing anything, while keeping him at a distance.
And it turns out they were "raised by a nun to be a killing machine." That Nana projected all her own trauma and righteousness onto Jim, and passed cruel judgement when Jim says that they already killed "the only one that matters." When Jim suggests that they might have moved on, and be ready to tell another story.
Tumblr media
Jim regresses in this episode. They let Olu walk away instead of telling a new story with him, one where he's their family. They take the petrified orange as a sign that they should go back to being who Nana told them they were, to being obsessed with revenge. But really, it's more like a warning of what they'll become if they cling to the same old story.
Tumblr media
It's sad. And it's a painful foreshadowing of what awaits Ed and Stede when they falter on the path forward, when they think their past defines their future. When they tell someone else's story, instead of their own.

Minidoriya (?) question time!!! What’s their current passion in life? And what do they want to be when they grow up?
omg the minidoriyas :((
okay so izumi (oldest) doesn't actually know what he wants to do yet but he under no fucking circumstances wants to be a hero despite being enrolled at ua in the hero class named after the last two symbols of peace. damn, tough luck kid (he's not being forced to do anything, he'll figure out things himself).
aki (second oldest) wants to be his dad. like that's it. he wants to be exactly izuku jr, meanwhile the person who actually looks like the spitting image of izuku is like please don't associate me with him!!!
atsuna (third, first daughter) actually wants to be a patisserie chef!
kenji (fourth, third son) wants to be a racecar driver. this is so ironic considering his quirk. imagine inheriting gearshift and wanting to switch gears for a living. i'm tired.
aoi (fifth, twin) wants to be a doctor and ai (sixth, twin) wants to be a human rights lawyer!

Tumblr media
haha I meant to post this with a small snippet of a story but then I realized I'm terrible at writing...
But the basis of that little snippet was that Nana was having a hard time having customers for her little bakery/market stall because Mei'fwa racism (also added on the fact that I want to have Ru'uan and Tu'la to have a rivalry with eachother. They haven't liked each other in years.) And then Aphmau comes up because she smells something really good, stumbles upon Nana and buys a tasty Peach Bread. In here, Nana would introduce herself as Ms. Momoko, kind of like a stage name.

For Ice Climbers: Vegetable Tier List
S: Mushrooms A: Potatoes, Lettuce B: Pumpkins, Turnips C: Corn, Zucchinis D: Cabbages, Carrots E: Eggplants
You're just ranking them by how many points they give!
Here's what they're REALLY asking!
S: Potatoes (Good for all sorts of meals!) A: Eggplants, Mushrooms, Carrots (Must-haves for any feast!) B: Corn, Cabbage, Pumpkins (Also tasty!) C: Zucchini, Turnips (I could do without these.) D: LETTUCE (Ewww.)
How are eggplants must-haves but lettuce isn't?
Have you HAD frozen lettuce!?
Who says it has to be frozen?
We're mountain climbers, lettuce is GOING to freeze!
What about in Smash?
Even then, it's all bitter and stuff.
So is cabbage!
Not if you cook it right and add stuff like meat, seasonings, and other veggies to it!
You mean like with lettuce?
...I think we're done here.
