I feel like Acronix would love the acorn power up because he gets to fly and glide(thats it, thats what he loves), Krux likes the fire plant because- "Back in my days, the fire plant was the only power-up in Super Mario Bros."

Why Are you so... Hatefull towards Sonic spinoffs media that isn't Sonic the cómic? Like what's wrong with them?

Because unlike Fleetway they laughed in my face.

Fleetway is the only comic that adapted some of the Games, I have some things that I don't like or Hate about It but It gets my 7/10 without a dubout. I love Fleetway.

I'm indiferent to Sonic boom. Same with the OVA and The Shonugan manga.

I love AOSTH and Sonic Underground would 100% recommend them if you want another history with Sonic.

I think I already told that I HATE IDW SONIC and I won't repeat myself, you can read It in my tags or straight go to @randomthefox and see my complains

Also the only Archie character that I like and would want back IS Sally acorn, anyone else can go to the void as they should.

I don't Know if you Saw the tags but before Sonic prime Ended I really LOVE it, season one of course. I could forgive Sonic begin a bit OOC if they would just explore his dynamic with Rouge/Rebel and the others :)

I really loved his moments with Nine (I'm still a Sonine shipper thanks to Wattpad fanfics) and with Thorn Rose these Two are still my favorites out of the show.

When season Two came It was meh to me. I didn't expect them to redem Rusty Rose so quickly (I expected another Evil Amy juju) and I liked her Bond with Black Rose despite me begin indiferent towards her.

Then season 3 came and ruined everthing. It ruined the emeralds plot by making them not Matter. It ruined Nine's AWESOME villian arc and Sonic was more OOC than ever. The others were there because yes.

The only thing I like from prime it's the Sontails teasing they did. It's why I Also bother with boom but with the Sticks and Sonegg moments plus.

The movies were something. I remember That I liked the first movie but I asked myself "Why did they use Sonic X plot of the Two worlds when Sonic's world has humans on It?" I Also didn't like Sonic's design but I liked his relationship with Tom.

The Second movie made my inner Fleetway fan Happy, It had Sontails moments, Fleetway references and Jimbotnik <3

But the Sonic 3 movie is TRASH, TRASH THAT SHOULD BE BURNED TO ASHES.

It's HORRIBLE. They RUINED SA2 and they obvious did It on purpouse

They gained my hatred and I'm not ever watching the Next movies.

Why? Because I don't want to see the characters I love getting ruined.

They’re characters I care about, characters I like to reminisce with. Every year, I look forward to what they do, and hope it’s something o worthy of them.

I was chatting with some of the guys I bask with and they said the way I catch minnows is problematic; What I do is I sit on the bottom of the lake, I hide myself in the mud and I open my mouth. My tongue looks a lot like a little worm so I wiggle it around- and because of that, minnows swim over and check it out. Once they get close enough, then I bite down and eat them. Some of my rockmates have told me that this is manipulative and toxic behavior- but they also eat minnows...I don't know guys...

and then tengen and giyuu, who had been amongst the hashira as they had made this observation of the contrast of the shinazugawa’s. living to see a different side of sanemi, to see him bashful, and happy, and calm. to see him getting along with nezuko, see him returning tanjiro’s glare even as he sits with a flower crown in his hair. engaging in light conversations about this and that, humming quietly to himself as he helps aoi with the laundry. it’s just sanemi and the little peace he managed to snag, letting him relax slowly as the years pass. maybe genya and sanemi were very much alike, maybe they just needed the right circumstances.

Meet Ramona Acorns!

Ive been DYING to make another Welcome home oc for some time and had this idea of her for some time! :D

Ramona is a firefly and new librarian and new resident of the happy little neighborhood! In the neighborhood, she owns and lives within her own bookstore and library! Her overall roll as a character in the show would be that she teaches kids about the importance of reading, writing, and even sign language, as she is canonically deaf!

But yeah, overall, her design from her old concepts haven't changed TOO much, just refining some of the finer details of it :D

I also thought it would be super fund to draw her in different outfits based on different events in the series so far! (like the Halloween and Christmas updates.)

I have been recently thinking about flying squirrels! They are so silly! I have never seen them in real life, but they ARE in my area, which feels magical. They are nocturnal, and I am not going to go into the spooky woods at night, but wow! They are among us! Maybe they are around you too, and you didn't realize!

Such supremely silly creatures. This is a rodent that, when the situation calls for it, will become a bit of a Rectangle. And it looks so funny! The unchanging expression on its little squirrel face! To the flying squirrel, this is serious business! I have decided that flying squirrels are the most scrimblo of animals. A tree squirrel's life is already dedicated to platforming and collecting, but flying squirrels even have a Glide Power-Up! It doesn't get much more scrimblo than that!

And so I think it is very appropriate for a flying squirrel to be in a Mario game. Waddlewing is sadly, to me, not quite as silly as a real flying squirrel- the rectangularitude is one of the best parts!- but it is still sufficient. If it looked too much like a real flying squirrel, I absolutely would not want to Defeat it!

Waddlewings debut alongside the Super Acorn, and Flying Squirrel Mario, which is of course extremely fitting and cohesive. But it gets my wrinkly wrascal of a brain wondering! They love these acorns. They absolutely eat them. And when they do, what happens? We know that canonically, power-ups can affect enemies. Was Waddlewing once a regular squirrel? Were their ancestors regular squirrels, and power-ups can be passed down genetically? Lamarck would love that, if he wasn't dead!

Or maybe they were not originally squirrels at all...? The Flying Squirrel Suit not only gives the wearer the ability to glide, but also the squirrel qualities to begin with! Maybe Waddle Wings began as. Man, I don't know. Orange Lump. Amorphous globosus.

Mario Kart 8 graced us with what I had been wanting! Rectangular rodent, rejoice! The Waddle Wing glider is probably the most perfect glider, and if I were to go hang gliding (I don't. Scawy) I would want to do it with a glider shaped like a flying squirrel. I love whimsical.

Flying squirrels do not have wings. If they wanted a biologically accurate name with the same vibe, they should have called it Pitterpatterpatagium! It is a good thing they didn't call it that, because that is a bad name.

My Neighbor Totoro

Found the VHS version in a box of Maddie’s childhood things & was intrigued by the older art style. He did think Totoro was a little creepy at first but liked him after the bus stop scene. Will sometimes use a big leaf or branch as an umbrella for Ozzy.

Thinks the concept of moving to the countryside as a fun film since he came to Green Hills not long ago. The relaxing moments in the backyard or hanging with Totoro always make him smile! Will go scouring for acorns with Tom at camping.

Was genuinely worried when Mei got lost the first time he watched it. The guy who constantly asks where the adults are in films, especially when it comes to such a young character.

Kiki’s Delivery Service

A protagonist that flies too! You know Tails is down for it! Thinks Kiki is such a sweet character & finds her relationship with Jiji really fun! Has brought up the topic of the family getting a cat, but poor Ozzy hightailed it outta there. 😅 So he settles for a kitty plush Maddie bought him.

Loves pancakes because of this film! The kind of fan that loves all the food aesthetics in Ghibli films, & will always get hungry after watching. Doesn’t like the concept of herring pumpkin pie, thinks it’s super gross…

Loves Kiki & Tombo’s relationship! He thinks Kiki needs to lighten up a little bit, but understands where she’s coming from. He likes how Tombo continues to stick by her, and his cool flying bike!

Howl’s Moving Castle

Another romance film comin’ in! Likes to watch this on down time or when he’s not busy training as a way to know more about Earth media. Thinks the music is very fun & sometimes calming, but Knuckles is here for Sophie! Loves her story, thinks she’s beautiful in every way!

He honestly didn’t like Howl at first. Believed he was a too forward with Sophie & even a little whiny. But later found him charming. Thinks they’re the best Ghibli couple, loves how sweet & dedicated they are to one another. Liked their personal growth too!

Tried eating actual eggshells after the breakfast scene & it did not go well. Knuckles thought he was tough enough to digest them & claimed “his body was not yet used to it,” but Sonic made him spit them out.

The Secret World of Arrietty

While the concept of little people living in houses was at first very strange to Shadow, he was eventually curious. Admires Arrietty because of her curiosity & courage to befriend Sho. Another character who reminds him of Maria because of how cheery she is. He also loves the aesthetic of her home.

This is a film he’s actually not too embarrassed about because he watches it with Tails. They both love the idea behind it & have thought about buying the books it’s based on. Plus, I think Tails is one who talks the least during movies… 😅

He doesn’t tell anyone this but whenever he’s out in nature or taking some time by himself, he’ll find little bugs or critters & wonders if they know tiny people. Has peeked in a few holes now & again, but grew cautious after finding baby rabbits.

the marauders fandom focuses a lot on how harry missed out on the marauders being in his life as he was growing up, uncle pads and moony etc. but the girls would have also been FANTASTIC aunts and it upsets me.

lily would have been such a loving and fierce mother, we see that with how she died for harry but i wish she had gotten the chance to show it in other ways as well.

marlene would have absolutely taught harry his first swear words, waking up the house with the loudest laugh after he “just went down for his nap, marls”. the first person to get ready to fight whichever 8 year olds were picking on him in class. she chases him around the yard with his broom when james is too tired.

mary, who would be the best listener in the house. always ready with a cup of hot cocoa, or tea when he was old enough, to hash out all the drama. she would also be super crafty and might inspire harry to experiment with his creative side.

pandora who’s just… pandora. his strange aunt that gets laughed at, sometimes, the first person harry will go to bat for, defending her from the 8 year olds making fun of her! always bringing him little trinkets, he keeps them all in a box, and then the box overflows. “really panda, he has enough acorns” “no no, this one’s special”

and dorcas, who fosters his competitive spirit, coaching him alongside james and marlene for quidditch, helping him build good study habits, and loves to talk shit about his classmates to his friends.

not to mention the kids they may have gone on to have. harry didn’t only lose the guaranteed adults in his life when they died, but the potential for a huge family of cousins & second cousins that would grow up with him and love him unconditionally.

so I went to New York this weekend!

I tagged along with some friends who were going to the Five Points Toy Festival in Brooklyn, and convinced them to come see Sleep No More with me on Thursday night, since it’s allegedly closing at some point and I’ve always wanted to go.

And since they had to head back to DC a day before me, I decided to get another ticket for the Sunday matinee on my own.

Unfortunately my cards were a 6 and a 7, so I missed a few things right at the beginning, but I’m still really happy with my experience. My first show I spent a bunch of time following the Tailor, which I really enjoyed — he had a duet with the Taxidermist in his shop where they played tug-of-war with his measuring tape, and another with the speakeasy bartender. I saw Hecate eat her dinner and sing “Is That All There Is” in the 4th floor bar, and the Porter try to save Lady Macduff from the poisoned milk and then do an amazing dance in the bag check room. Plus a bunch more small lovely moments that I caught in passing as I explored.

My second show I had my bearings a little bit more. I got to chat with “Benji” (who I now know was actually Will Boyajian!) in the Manderly before my card was called, which was really fun!

Before this trip, I did do some advance reading, so I’d have a general sense of what to expect and wouldn’t be totally lost. This also gave me an idea for a little art project: I made a set of papier-mâché eggs (using a trashed copy of Macbeth for the paper) with thematically appropriate prizes inside, sealed with a wax seal and a red ribbon you could pull to open them. Basically fancier versions of the mystery eggs I have at the shop. I made eight, because that was all I could fit in my dress pockets. The prizes were:

a glass jar of vintage mother-of-pearl buttons

a glass vial with a dried flower inside, sealed with wax

another sealed vial with a fossil shark’s tooth

a tiny bell jar with mini (fake) butterflies on pins

a brooch made from a vintage medal ribbon and vintage keys

a tiny glass bird

a little bag of vintage game pieces

a wooden acorn with more tiny treasures inside it

I ended up giving “Benji” the shark tooth egg, which turned out to be perfect because he said he collects shark teeth! The others I saved until I got inside; I wanted to be careful about making sure I could give them out without interrupting anything.

I was super lucky to have some time entirely alone with the Tailor while he sewed up the Taxidermist’s coat, so I just set his egg (the buttons) on the corner of his desk and stepped back, and he tucked it into his jacket pocket when he was done.

I watched the Taxidermist make his bone sculpture assemblage and then smash it in frustration, so I hid an egg under one of the skulls after he left. I did get to see him find it when he came back. Same with Hecate, when I left an egg under her fan on her table at the wrecked bar.

The speakeasy bartender invited me to play a card game with him. I lost, but I gave him an egg as a thank-you.

I watched the Porter make a paper boat and blow it off the edge of the counter towards me. I caught it, and tried to give it back with his egg. He took the egg, but gave me back the boat. And I caught the witch in the green dress in a quiet moment in the lobby, and handed her an egg across the counter.

I realized I’d accidentally given the Taxidermist the wrong egg, but I managed to catch him at the last possible second, before he disappeared after the walkouts, gave him the right one, and told him I’d given him Malcolm’s egg by mistake. (Some of them were labeled, but the lighting is so low and my labels were tiny).

Aside from my self-imposed side quest, I got to see a bunch of scenes I’d missed last time. I caught the rave, I followed Agnes for a while, I saw a lovely waltz between Duncan and Mrs. Danvers in the ballroom. I kind of forgot the fifth floor existed, oops.

Afterwards, I was totally exhausted and must have looked it, because someone let me into the reserved section so I could sit until the crowd thinned out and I felt a little less wiped. I have some really cool souvenirs — my mask, and the paper boat, and I bought a poster too.

If they extend it into the fall, I’ll totally go again.

The Dragonscale Amulet: Theory

And finally... literally the reason I made this entire blog. Basically, back in March we had this:

Anyway, I dropped literally everything to catalog the entire breadth of writing, runes, glyphs, etc. in the series so far, all in order to figure out what the hell this means. One theory that has evolved in the meantime is that the symbol on the amulet represents an acorn or seed, but I would like to propose another.

First, let's look at the amulet and symbol, themselves.

The amulet is composed of a dragon scale (allegedly, at least... we haven't seen dragon scales separated from dragons anywhere else) that is red, highly reflective (whether naturally or polished after the fact), and about palm-sized. By that scale, it probably comes from a dragon about Pyrrah's size or a little larger, unless it was carved down to a smaller size when crafted into an amulet. The scale is anchored in a gold setting, with a shape and decorations that have a fair amount of similarity to the Staff of Ziard. (Maybe we should have anticipated an Aaravos/Startouch association.)

As for the symbol, accounting for perspective (to the best of my abilities), we have this:

The symbol is etched directly into the scale's surface. Its lines are less smooth than the ones decorating the setting, which could indicate that it was added at another time (earlier/later) with a less precise tool, or just that gouging designs into dragon scales is hard.

In terms of similarity to other symbols we've seen so far, it could come from a similar system as the symbols in Infantis Sanguine. It also has similarities to a primal rune, though the sharp, wide corners are unusual. Either way, I think this is a pictographic symbol representing an item or concept as a whole, not an alphabetic character—this isn't Laurelion personally going around with a blinged-out "L" necklace.

So what could it be? Well, I propose that it's a heart. Like so:

My initial impression had the horizontal top "crossbar" as the pulmonary arteries, and the vertical center line as the aorta/vena cava, but you could also look at the crossing vertical and diagonal lines as dividing the space into the four chambers of the heart. However, I think there's another direction to go with that diagonal, so let's put a pin in that for a moment.

Why a heart? Because there has a sizeable amount of fairly convincing speculation post-s4 that the dark space in Aaravos's chest is either figuratively or literally representing his heart having been removed. @raayllum's are a lot more coherent, but I've also done my share.

I'm sure someone had this thought before I did, if only because I was super late to the fandom. But I had it!

... okay right, back to the amulet.

Aaravos's heart is also a key part of the "Laurelion and Aaravos are the same person" theory, in part because Laurelion's heart is the center of everything we currently know about them.

Laurelion's heart was pierced by either the as-yet-unnamed Novablade itself or a piece of draconic ivory (i.e. a dragon's tooth) that was later forged into the Novablade, after which "immortal Laurelion was no more."

Aside from creating an additional connection between Laurelion and dragons, making the dragon scale of the amulet even more interesting, let's go back to the symbol in light of the whole "pierced" thing.

Now, TDP has a fair amount of Christian symbolism and imagery to it, some purely because of how deeply Christianity is embedded in western culture but some also definitely intentional. Aaravos was initially framed as a Prometheus figure, but it became progressively more clear that he's a Lucifer one—a tempter, a rebel angel, out to destroy creation. They absolutely know what they're doing with things like the *checks watch* 2019 Aaravos birthday post:

So don't think it's completely insane to take that, Laurelion's death[citation needed], and the amulet symbol, and think of this:

Depictions of the Sacred Heart don't seem to usually show the spear, just the wound, but I wasn't raised Catholic so work with me here. (If you want to get even more Catholic, there's also the Immaculate Heart of Mary, which is almost always depicted with a sword piercing it diagonally all the way through because she's... sad? Look, I don't know.) The idea is that it represents the boundless and fervent love of God expressed through the suffering of Jesus, which... whatever.

I do think it's interesting, however, that we are primed to question Laurelion's "death" and concepts of mortality/immortality, death of identity, etc. in the context of Startouch elves because while there's definitely a possibility that an immortal being stripped of their immortality is a punishment, there's also... a lot of cultural precedent for that as a willing gift of love to a mortal/mortals, whether you're looking at Jesus, Castor and Pollux, or Arwen and Aragorn. So we'll see how that plays out.

Anyway, that's my weird fringe theory: the amulet symbol represents Laurelion's pierced heart.

Probably time to worry about Claudia. (As if we weren't, already.)
