i love Stardew Valley…i love that you can start a conversation with someone about what you’re growing on your farm and then randomly dig up some of their Earth and life continues as if nothing happened. i love that Lewis will tell you out of nowhere that Marnie fucking hates clay because it makes her depressed??? and he has nothing else to say about that????? i love that Sebastian basically implies he’s a vampire because he says he’s really only outside at night (a lie). i love that sap takes away energy when you eat it. i love that the seasons last only the length of a month. i love that the kids are realistically uninterested in talking to you. i love that you can buy little hats from a mouse who calls you “poke.” i love that all the chickens need is hay, water and love. i love that Maru loves getting battery packs. i love that you can get clay out of geodes. i love that Demetrius is endlessly curious about the place he lives in. i love that everyone in Pelican Town hates poppies except Penny. i love that most of the biome ecology and crop catalog make no sense geographically. i love that people say the crops take forever to grow but actually they grow super fast compared to real life. i love that you get tomatoes within 11 days and don’t have to cover them or worry about them getting too wet. i love that Haley is the only person who will acknowledge your Farm Grime and Stink. i love that you don’t really need to worry about pests eating your crops. i love that you can make basically a protein bar out of a pine cone, an acorn and a maple seed. i love that you can find berries just lying on the ground with no bushes in sight. and i love George.
