Dear God how I fucking hate when people dismiss s character's traits because "that's just a facade! you as the reader have to see underneath it!!" like yeah no fucking shit Sherlock, a well written character has more than one (1) defining trait but that doesn't mean their most prominent one or the one most recognized by fandom ISN'T there
yes this is about people thinking dick grayson isn't actually a ray of sunshine, that it's just a mask. he's much more than the happy one, of fucking course, all batfam members (when written well) are, but that doesn't mean that being happy and bright is not a crucial part of his personality. he brings light to people's lives, he's a beacon of hope, that's what Robin was born for, as a light to Batman's darkness. That's what Nightwing is. He can be serious, sure. He's smart, an amazing strategist, incredibly good at fighting, he can be manipulative and morally gray and sometimes an objectively bad person. But he's ALSO funny and quippy and bright and sunshine. BECAUSE HE'S WELL WRITTEN.
Like Jesus stop making him so sad and wrong all the time just because you want so bad to go against "fanon". It's not fanon if it's literally his core trait. It's not fanon if it's what the character was BORN AS. God.
#I'm not sure if this even makes sense#it's almost 6am I haven't slept and I just saw someone say he's a manipulative bitch and to stop writing him as a ray of sunshine#and now I'm mad#because this parson had this lukewarm takes with most of the batkids#like yeah I get a lot of damian's traits and back story are deeply rooted in racism#but like he did try to kill tim. and he killed a bunch of people when he first got to Gotham. that's a thing that happened.#and no matter how racist the reason behind that plot line might have been#it's something that happened and choosing to believe it didn't happen because it doesn't fit your preconceived ideas of how#a character should or should not be is just plain stupid#you can explore the character and change their personality and play with them in fanfic sure that's what we all do#but don't pretend that canon doesn't exist. you can choose to utilize it or not but acknowledge it even if it's just to spit in it's face#damian's not tame he's not more chill than his brothers he's not misunderstood#he's a child who had a horribly traumatic childhood and reacts with violence because that's all he knows#Jason's angry and he has every right to be and to say he isn't is to erase an incredibly important part of his character#you don't get to tell a victim how to be a good victim. just got the time to start the sunshine court and I'm Vibrating out of my skin
#i did not think it was possible for me to like a character this much three chapters into a book#i might actually end up liking Jean better than Neil which is saying a Lot#something about a character whose route to survival had to be giving in and staying small instead of fighting back or running away#something about a character who has been taught to lock up their emotions for years or suffer the consequences#something about a character who is resigned to what happens to them because that's the only way they can survive in their environment#I am desperately hoping that Jean learns how to be ANGRY outwardly without permission.#I need that boy to be able to Rage out loud and do it MESSY#because I'm not convinced he's going to be able to really smile until he does#Also I'm really appreciating both the Renee and Thea content we've desperately needed more of both of them and they showed up so quick#privately hoping both stay present for a while but tbh i'm just excited for where this is headed#Anyways I also just fixated on Jean Moreau then discovered that (SPOILERS) he's 19???? made it to 2024!!! out of the most recent roblox drawings, it's kohane again :DD
seems like i moved out of free draw and into spray paint (despite spray paint being so painfully painfully painfully laggy. and has no undo button. and has a max of 10 layers (which you have to pay for more). And a stupid popup to pay for a bigger brush ever time i try using the biggest sized brush. and also constantly crashing
why? uhh i saw these youtubers draw on spray paint and it looked kinda fun teehee
despite the flaws, i'm actually having a lot of fun drawing on spray paint!! :0 i keep coming back to play more even tho the game hates me :( idk I like the challenge of keeping it to 10 layers (still hate the lag tho i will simply explode)

more details about each of these friends below! enjoy, and have the loveliest of lovely days :D
worrywart (he/him) is a red doll who represents worry, concern, vulnerability, and sensitivity. he's a nervous sort who can't help but care about himself, others, and the world around him!
sunshine lollipop (she/her) is an orange alien who represents luck, happiness, friendliness, and positivity. she's a ball of energy and joy, seeing the best in everything and everyone!
mr. nice guy (he/him) is a yellow puppet who represents kindness, politeness, helpfulness, and goodness. he loves making the world a better place and putting a smile on people's face!
magic (he/him) is a green dragon who represents creativity, imagination, beauty, and thoughtfulness. he is rarely bored, as he always has an art project to create or an idea to explore!
four-eyes (they/them) is a blue robot who represents knowledge, logic, memory, and organization. they're an encyclopedic source of anything anyone needs to know - and they know it!
mr. nobody (he/him) is an indigo ghost who represents fatigue, melancholy, introversion, and quiet. he's a subdued fellow who says little, but thinks a whole lot!
daisy bell (she/her) is a purple fairy who represents nature, curiosity, understanding, and grace. she can talk to animals and enjoys learning new things about everyone!
ne'er-do-well (she/her) is a black devil who represents intrusive thoughts, selfishness, anger, and impulse. she was banished from the town by the mayor, and is trying to get back in...!
goody two-shoes (she/her) is a white angel who represents perfection, love, beauty, and safety. she's the mayor of goody gardens, who's always making the neighborhood perfect for all!

I think the thing bout me and my own OCs is that I'm like, a stranger to em with my own preconceived perception on how they are but the longer I spend time with em, they turn out completely different so even if I'm the creator, I can't even tell if my ideas are final until I look at it again and the OC in question just goes: I would not say that.

i want to wrap my youngest brother in a forever cocoon of dance parties and hugs and reading the books he likes where he and I can live forever and ever because this child doesn't deserve a single bad thing to ever happen in his life
#for context:#he's little‚ in kindergarten‚ and was recently diagnosed with adhd (although we had already pretty much known) so while his dr is trying to#find the right meds for him he's struggling with the adjustment period and focusing in general#and this beautiful sunshine boy calls me on video chat and asks if i can help him finish his dnd character sheet we started last week#because he's very excited about the dnd campaign and wants to get his sheet finished like my other siblings (both several yrs older)#and so we're working through the sheet and we're talking and im explaining the math and i keep having to try and redirect his attention#because he's sitting in our kitchen and there's a lot happening around him and he's distracted (which i totally get and think is so valid!)#and so i told him#hey‚ if you can't focus right now and we need to circle back to this‚ i can wait. im free tonight and tomorrow night‚#call me when you're ready to finish and are feeling able to focus again#and he said okay and then in the saddest voice ever he apologized for not being able to pay attention and I just#my heart BROKE for him#because he's so smart! and kind!! and it's okay that he cannot focus on dnd right now‚ he's doing his best!!!#and i told him as much‚ promised i wasn't mad or frustrated or anything and told him i loved him and hoped he had a good night#but i just feel so bad that he internalized him not being able to pay attention as his fault#i just want to protect him forever and ever#idk if anyone has any tips on little kids w adhd‚ plz lmk‚ i want to be a resource and source of support for him 🫶

Me: Remus Lupin is a manipulative little shit. He is so desperate to be accepted that he is almost never his true self - he knows his true self is snappy, aggressive and bitter. So he acts polite. He acts nice and thoughtful while being utterly selfish. He keeps peoples weaknesses in his back pocket to use. He steps on those of lower social standing to prob himself up… Like a social werewolf not just a physical one he spends most of his time acting like a normal human... worrying that inevitably his secrets will come out. His persona is unsustainable - so he gives up at the first sign of trouble and runs away. He is a weak willed coward. Dating him - even just being friends with him - would be an absolute nightmare. Mood swings, vague answers, lies, disappearances, gaslighting, blackmail, snapping...

i have so many opinions on how some people are acting about the new good omens season despite never having watched and having no interest in watching it
#i've seen people say that oh the guy that wrote it said it would be a sweet and tender love story#but it had a sad ending so we were lied to!#but to me the two are not mutually exclusive#does the last few moments of something negate the effect the build up had?#is that suddenly all for naught just because there has been some conflict?#and on that point‚ stories are nothing without conflict! and from what i know these characters relationship is very important to the story#so of course there would be some kind of conflict surrounding that#if everything went right for them all the time and everything was all sunshine and rainbows would that not feel so unfulfilling?#it would hardly be a story at all!#it is five in the morning nearly and i am just rambling at this point so i'll cut myself off here. if you made it this far i am impressed#vel.txt
