asking for holy blue because thats my jam (this being sagemoderocklee)
Oof okay this one's rough, but I'll do it for you <3
Down below, I gave an explanation and then a small snippet, because that's the most you'll get of this fic in likely a very long time. But it turned into a pretty big rant about my insecurities surrounding this fic as explanation for why it hasn't had any progress in literal years, whoops. Sorry this is so long!
Basically this was one of the first fics I planned out back in 2022 when I really started properly writing fic. The last fics I'd written had been DC comics fics back when I was like 12. I think I said this once or twice, but your stories specifically actually inspired me to be like "no I CAN write a long fic actually!! Those non-porn-oneshot ideas don't just have to stay ideas forever!! I do have it in me!" which led to me plotting this fic.
I then got wayyyy too overzealous, posted a prequel (that I'm not super happy with now and would like to make some changes to before I continue posting), and plotted out the first half of a two-part longform series before I was really ready. It's halted for a number of reasons. Partly because I'm struggling to figure out what I want to really have happen in the second half of the story. The half I have plotted could be a full story in its own right, but it's meant to be continued, so the ending would be depressing and frustrating in an unsatisfying way if it wasn't continued in a second story after that. I'm stuck on a resolution, though, and on turning the ideas I have for the second half into a proper story.
Also, I got overthinking and made myself super insecure about characterization (especially in regards to Lee), as well as how much of the story was very directly inspired by several other big, incredible fics in the fandom by several different authors I hold in really high regard. The stress of living up to that inspiration combined with the fear that the story wasn't original enough in the form I had planned kind of put the brakes on the whole thing. And then I got distracted by a bunch of other fics that I felt more confident in. Horror is my strong suit, I think, and this is not that at all haha
On top of all this, there's a major plot point that comes to light near the end of the first half. It's the type of thing that I've seen written so well in a couple different fics, and so poorly in so many others. It's something that I know is not everyone's cup of tea, even when it's well-written. And I've been torn about how much to be up-front with this plot point and how much to hide it. I want people to know the direction the story is heading in for the sake of their own enjoyment; so people who wouldn't be into it can just avoid it from the get-go instead of getting invested first. But I don't want to spoil things too much. But also, if knowing the outcome of a story ruins the whole thing, then it just wasn't very well written, right? Knowing what happens later SHOULDN'T completely ruin the story. If it does, that's on me for not writing it as well as I should have.
This is the overthinking I've been doing lol this is why there's been no progress on this story. It's funny, because I probably have a higher percentage of this fic written than most of my other WIPs.
Basically, if/when I finish and continue posting this story, it's going to come after a great deal of planning and work. And I'm not going to continue it until I really sit down and parse through exactly what stories inspired it and in what capacity. And after that, if I feel that it's original enough, I'd still want to give links to the stories that inspired it when I post it.
I don't want to say TOO much about the premise, because there's a lot that's meant to be *dramatically revealed* as the story goes on, but I can give a general teaser: It starts with Lee, along with the rest of Team Gai, spending a year in Suna. In that time, Lee and Gaara begin a bit of a secret, illicit affair. Obviously, Gaara's position as Kazekage complicates things, but Gaara intends to make it happen for them anyway. Lee, however, has some hidden commitments of his own that puts an even bigger wrench in those plans. Then, the year is up, things have snowballed, and no one is ready to handle the fallout of Gaara and Lee's rush into things.
You get two mediocre snippets to make up for the lengthy anxiety ramblings <3 featuring Sand Sibs Bantering (+Shikamaru) and a first second kiss between Gaara and Lee.
---
Temari grinned wickedly, a look rarely seen outside the company of the family.
“Alright. We’ll be stuck with them for the next year, so get any negative comments you have out of the way now.”
“If Neji’s still got a stick up his ass, I’m gonna have to be sick for a lot of meetings down the line.” Kankurou jumped in, ready to complain at any opportunity.
“He’s way more polite when he’s in diplomacy mode, trust me.” Shikamaru had finally - after years - adjusted to the siblings’ mean streaks. He took it in stride now. “Besides, he’s mellowed out recently now that Hinata is the acting head of the clan.”
“I don’t think Tenten likes me very much.” Gaara added, unwilling to speak too ill of allies, let alone friends.
Kankurou laughed at that, “She probably just doesn’t know what to do with you, man. You know how Konoha shinobi are, they wear everything on their sleeve. Sometimes Temari and I can’t even tell what you’re thinking."
“Besides," Temari interjected, with the slightest note of griping in her tone (which Gaara knew she would vehemently deny should she ever be accused of it; Temari did not gripe, according to herself and everyone in the world, save those who've known her their whole lives.) "I’m more worried about bowl cuts one and two. There’s only so much of that energy I can take before I want to pull my hair out.”
Gaara found himself responding before he even thought about it, “Lee is just… passionate.”
“Okay we’re supposed to be complaining about Team Gai here but I honestly gotta say–” Kankurou leaned on Gaara’s shoulder, “I really don’t get what it is with you and idolizing guys who beat your ass when you were twelve.”
“I’m not an arm rest.” Gaara’s sand pushed Kankurou away, “And it has nothing to do with that. He’s very dedicated to what he does. It’s respectable.”
“What you got a crush on the guy now?” Gaara’s almost choked on his own saliva, collecting himself when he realized his brother was just – once again – taking a joke further than it needed to be.
The last thing he needed was his siblings catching wind of his ridiculous train of thought as of late.
“That’s enough, you wasted your time with it.” Temari elbowed Kankurou until he straightened out his posture, motioning to the four who had just approached the chuunin on guard duty.
“Didn’t even get a good joke in about the jumpsuits…” She muttered.
---
Lee’s rambling was cut off as Gaara sighed, seemingly fed up with the circles they were going in.
“Did you enjoy it or not?” Gaara crossed his arms and shut his eyes as he asked, almost like he was waiting for a blow to come.
Of course Lee enjoyed it. That was the problem, not that he could reveal that to Gaara at the moment. He enjoyed it far too much, and if he was smart he would nip this in the bud before it continued any further. Unfortunately, that would require lying, which he was never very good at.
“Yes…” but- he tried to say. The word stuck in his throat.
He didn’t want there to be a but.
Gaara’s eyes opened at that and his posture seemed to relax a bit. His torso shifted slightly as he breathed in, like something flowed through him, bringing him to life.
He took a step closer to Lee. Lee leaned in unconsciously. Gaara had to tilt his head up to look directly into Lee’s eyes.
“Do you want to do it again?” His eyes flicked down to Lee’s mouth, his neck, his chest, before pulling back up to his eyes. There was something there on Gaara’s face – a challenge, almost.
Lee could never resist a challenge, even against his absolute best judgment.
If the question was that simple…
“Yes.”
The word had barely left his mouth before Gaara reached up and pulled their faces together.
This kiss was different from the first. Where the previous evening was all hesitance and sweetness, there was a desperation behind this one – a heat coming from them both, creeping down their necks and filling the room.
One kissed turned into two, three, four… And Lee found his tongue creeping out to meet Gaara’s halfway.
#sorry again this is SO much lmao#but it was cathartic to lay this all out#this fic has been on my mind for so long now#and will continue to be#hopefully one day i can properly get it all sorted#or if not#rework it into something i feel i can actually do and be proud of#thanks for the ask (and for tagging me in the first place) <3#my writing#wip ask game

~Choose your own Ending~
There’s something odd about the way you’re feeling lately.
Everything is the same as it’s always been. Its what you’ve been telling yourself since your beach trip. It’s what you’ve been repeating when you open your curtains and are greeted by sunshine, it’s what you say when you eat breakfast in that same sunny glow, and it’s what you scream when you see Osamu Miya in the dying rays of the sun later in the day.
It’s also what you say when you’re friend cocks his head, and yellow light suddenly explodes across his features right alongside Osamu’s.
Suna Rintaro..and Osamu…
They’re stuck in your thoughts. They tumble and twist in your head until you can’t think, and suddenly you’re stuck staring at them as they laugh or smile or rays of sun brighten their faces like now. You can really only gape at them and feel silly as you do it.
It’s strange when you pull yourself together and join their conversation, pushing away the strange feelings you’re not sure you can untangle. Shoving them into a dark recess of your mind, that isn’t dark enough, because the prickly feelings will be back the next moment Suna or Osamu do something to drag them back out.
“I’m pretty sure I’ve got bigger arms Osamu,” Suna says casually. You should’ve been listening approximately 1 minute sooner, if you wanted to understand where that came from.
Osamu scoffs at Suna as he takes a bite of onigiri. “My arms have years of onigiri fueling them,” he flexes, “they’re bigger than yer’s.”
“You just called your arms fat.” Suna deadpans.
“Whatever,” Osamu turns to you, saying your name. “Who’s arms are better?”
“What?” You feel yourself warm slightly.
You have a theory that they’re trying to trick you in some way. That’s not a normal question and you’re not responding to it in a normal way. Maybe they know you feel odd lately, and that’s why they bug you to answer their question until you finally give an answer,
“Suna’s arms, okay!” You bat their arms away from your face, where they had been shoving them quite dramatically. Suna has a smile on his face and Osamu a frown.
It would make a little bit of sense considering you’d only just become Osamu’s real friend, after your trip a few weeks ago. And he looked so unhappy right now-
he could be upset about something other than his arms not being as good in your eyes as Suna’s. It’s not like you had really meant that anyway. You obviously thought they both had fine arms. Which just added to the strangeness of his attitude. There was no reason for him to be so grumpy all of a sudden, I mean.. could he really not tell you didn’t care?
Yet he was backing out of the conversation in favor of cleaning up his food crumbs. He had to be playing some kind of prank and Suna had decided to join in perhaps.. or maybe the jerk’s brother was somehow in on it?
You didn’t know why you had to feel so bad when Osamu left you and Suna’s company so early.
You didn’t know why you were feeling so torn.

chapter six - it's a date!
“Good morning, Doctor!”
Ritsu’s energy in the morning could easily take the place of your usual coffee. You had just opened the door to see his bright, smiling face as well as Kagura’s less enthusiastic one. You could guess how she felt about mornings just by her expression.
“Good morning, you two,” you smiled the best you could through your grogginess.
“Did you sleep alright I hope?” Ritsu shot you another big smile.
You swallowed the truth, which was that you barely got any sleep with your mind keeping you up. “Yes, it was very comfortable.”
“Great! Which means you’ll be ready for a day packed with lots of adventure!” Ritsu pumped a fist into the air.
“Yes, but if you don’t mind, I’d love to take a stop to get some coffee,” Kagura let out a yawn and a sigh. “It’s much needed.”
You chuckled, shutting your door behind you and locking it. “I can say the same. That sounds great.”
Ritsu and Kagura (mostly Ritsu) were giving you the rundown of the day, what it would look like, what types of protocol and patients you would be witnessing. You tried your best to listen but truthfully, there were many other things on your mind.
I have feelings for Kakashi. I have feelings for Kakashi. I have feelings for Kakashi.
It was this persistent feeling that had grown in your stomach, a feeling that you had been burying deep down until now. And you realized as you laid awake last night, tormented by the growing feeling in your stomach and the millions of thoughts in your head, that it began that day you and Sakura gave your presentation.
It was those eyes and that look. It was like Kakashi was seeing you, really seeing you in that moment. And up until now, you were doing your best to focus on the important things rather than silly little crushes. You pushed it down, down, down.
But there was no use anymore. Your heart was screaming the truth at you. You could no longer hide from it.
“Uh, Doctor? Everything okay?”
You scolded yourself spacing out and worrying your new friends, pasting on an apologetic smile towards Ritsu. “Oh yes, I’m sorry. I think I really need that coffee.”
“There’s a stand just down the road. They make the best lattes,” Kagura sighed contentedly.
You smiled and then forced yourself to get out of your head. The main streets were already busy with people and shops and businesses opening, as well as the market that sat at the end of the main drag. In this way, it felt like Konoha. Everyone waking up together and starting their days. The heart of any village is its people.
Looking around, something else caught your eye. There were several people setting up what looked like to be decorations, stringing lights across the buildings and setting up intricate wooden stalls. It looked like…
“I love the day before the Stars Festival!” Ritsu squealed. “Everyone starting to set up, all the decorations. I’m already dreaming about the food…”
“All I can think about right now is coffee,” Kagura mumbled. “But I also can’t wait to snag some Stars Festival dango. The flavors are always so good.”
You finally spoke up about your curiosity, leaning forward to catch their eyes. “I’m sorry but…Stars Festival? What’s that?”
Both Ritsu and Kagura snapped their heads in your direction, Ritsu’s expression dramatic as always and even Kagura’s eyes slightly wide.
“YOU CAME TO SUNA DURING THE STARS FESTIVAL AND DIDN’T EVEN KNOW???” Ritsu exclaimed loudly, which made you shrink back a bit. “I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS!!!”
“Ritsu! Volume, please!” Kagura shoved her hand on his face and then sighed. “The Stars Festival is a Suna tradition, of course, she wouldn’t know!”
Ritsu grabbed Kagura’s hand and slid it down to his chin. “Yes I know but…this is just…this is just so wonderful! I can’t believe she came during the best time of the year!
“Um,” you laughed lightly. “I’m so glad but…what is the Stars Festival?”
Ritsu jumped in front of you, stopping you in your tracks. “The Stars Festival is a Suna annual tradition! Once a year, a meteor shower will grace our village. We will celebrate all night with food, drinks, games, anything you can think of…until the time of the shower, all of Suna’s villagers looking up at the sky and watching the stars! It’s the best day in the whole village, everyone dresses up and celebrates the night away!”
Kagura stepped in next to Ritsu. “All of that is true, but the meaning behind the festival is not only celebration. The meteor shower, because it happens annually, is thought to be a blessing over our village. When the shower begins, it is a time for reflection, prayer, and good thoughts over the village and its people.”
You felt honored to be in Suna to witness such a wonderful tradition and touched that Ritsu and Kagura were sharing about it with you. “Wow, that sounds…incredible.”
“Wait until you try the food!” Ritsu squealed again, the biggest smile on his face.
“Is all you can think about food?” Kagura rolled her eyes, walking away with Ritsu trailing behind.
“I can’t help it! I love festival food…”
You followed behind, thinking about how lucky you were once more to be in this place, to meet these people, to experience new things. Your heart felt warm with gratitude, and a touch of sadness knowing after tomorrow, you’d have to leave.
You’d come back. Some day…maybe Kakashi really would bring you back here…
You were brought out of your thoughts by bumping into Kagura’s back, the pair stopping in their tracks. Looking up, you realized what stopped them.
The Hokage and the Kazekage were side by side in their regular shinobi attire, and they looked like they were taking a casual walk.
Your cheeks immediately began to burn when you realized Kakashi had met your eyes.
“Kazekage!” Ritsu exclaimed, bowing immediately. Kagura followed more gracefully, and you followed suit. “It’s wonderful to see you this morning!”
The Kazekage, Gaara, chuckled. “I can say the same, Ritsu. Your energy is contagious.”
Though you were standing slightly behind, Ritsu stood a bit taller. “Thank you, sir!”
Gaara then looked at Kagura. “Good morning, Kagura.”
Kagura nodded back. “Good morning, sir.”
“I hope you two are taking good care of our esteemed guest,” Gaara smiled at you, causing your cheeks to heat even more. “Lord Sixth tells me good things about her, and her importance to the village. I trust she’s in good hands?”
Your entire body was on fire, and Kakashi’s eyes crinkled mischievously. Oh, he really enjoyed making you so flustered, didn’t he? In your opinion, he continued to speak way too highly of you. But then again, he was thoroughly enjoying seeing you so flustered. You looked away from his eyes with a slight pout you couldn’t help, and you felt that made him even more satisfied.
“Y-Yes, of course, Lord Kazekage sir!” Ritsu stood at attention, a determined look on his face.
In front of you, Kagura cringed slightly at his dramatics. “Of course, Lord Kazekage. She’s going to be observing our rounds today.”
Gaara chuckled again. “I’m only giving you two a hard time. I trust no one more to welcome her to the village. Well, the Hokage and I better get going as well."
Goodbyes were exchanged and as you began to walk past Kakashi and Gaara, your eyes found Kakashi’s once more. He was giving you another mischievous look as he passed you and then…
He brushed your shoulder with a wink.
It only made you freeze for one second when you whipped your head around, mouth agape. But all you saw was his back next to the Kazekage’s like nothing had happened.
Oh, he’s really going to get it. How can he keep doing this to me? Does he…know…?
“Doctor, are you okay? You look flustered.”
You whipped your head back around to Kagura and Ritsu’s slightly concerned looks.
“O-Oh, yes!” You sputtered. “Sorry, I’m just—“
“Ah, I understand,” Ritsu smiled. “The Kazekage is a highly respected individual, it’s understandable you would feel so flustered in his presence!”
“I think you’re the only person who feels that way, Ritsu. He’s a person too, not a celebrity…”
“He basically is! I wouldn’t be surprised if he was in a movie someday…”
“You’re ridiculous…”
Following Ritsu and Kagura again, you forced yourself to focus on the day at hand, no matter how hard. You pushed the silver-haired man out of your head and followed the two doctors into another busy day.
———
Being a doctor or medical ninja is a vital part of any shinobi system, of any village, really. Without it, shinobi would not be able to find their ground again and protect the village. To fulfill their duty. The medical professionals behind any battle or hospital are one of the most necessary roles to ensure the well-being of others which in turn guarantees the protection of the village.
You would say that any medic-nin or doctor knows this to be true, and is part of the reason why they show up to fulfill their duty every day. To support others. To help their comrades. To see them thrive on the other side.
For you, you think it runs deeper than that. There is something about your duty as a doctor, a researcher, and a medical professional that is ingrained in you. There is something about the moment you cross the threshold of any medical setting that solidifies a sense of purpose and duty.
You never really wanted to be a shinobi. There was always a part of you that knew.
The moment you crossed the threshold into Suna’s medical facilities that morning was a reminder all over again that this was what you were meant to do.
You learned a lot following Ritsu and Kagura on their rounds. After the war, Suna had sectioned off a chunk of the hospital for rehabilitation efforts. It had naturally morphed into a more permanent system of how the hospital ran with the amount of shinobi needing some form of cognitive or physical rehab. Most of your morning had been spent there, observing, recording, consulting.
As you could have guessed, there were a lot of the same cases back in Konoha. Brain injury was one of the biggest, cases of mild to severe aphasias, memory loss, and overall cognitive changes that many struggled with. The trauma of the war itself left many with cognitive deficits along with major physical injuries.
The other major cases were hearing loss and tinnitus that accompanied other physical and cognitive losses. Complaints of ringing in the ears and significant decline in one or both ears were common as you made your way around the hospital.
You got to talk with other doctors and their treatment. You got to hear from medical-ninja, how they refined their ninjutsu to treat specific war-like injuries. It was so much information, so many new ideas sprouting in your brain at once. You had felt like it had only been an hour when so many had already gone by.
The day was almost over, and you had found yourself with the research team again. After a day of seeing Suna’s amazing facilities, you had many questions yourself. Logistically, they could implement a speech and hearing clinic with no problem, and you knew that Sakura already had plans for a mental health clinic in the works. It seemed that even a whole land away, everyone was on the same page regarding medical care.
But, night came again and everyone started getting ready to go home. You were chatting with one of the researchers particularly interested in your research, and she mentioned the hospital’s medical library. You excitedly mentioned your interest in ancient Suna medical texts, and she offered to lead you there.
Kagura and Ritsu were planning on heading home, however. “Will you be able to make your way home later, Doctor?” Kagura asked.
“Oh, yes I won’t be long!” You reassured them. “Thank you for today. I’ll see you tomorrow!”
They smiled and said their goodbyes as the researcher led you to the library.
“I’ll leave you to it, Doctor. I hope you enjoy! Good night!”
No one was in the library except you, now. The sight was beautiful. It wasn’t a very large space, but it was beautiful. Rows and rows of medical tomes and texts lined the many shelves, and you felt your heart light up. You dove in immediately, heading right for the ancient texts. One of your favorite things to do was compare ancient practices to what was in place now, to see how methods and theories have changed over time and what was still in practice.
Pulling out several tomes and texts, you settled down at a table and got to work. The moon was already high in the sky as it shined through the window above you, but you were in too deep to notice the time passing. Even as you continuously yawned, you couldn’t find it in you to tear yourself away from the literature in front of you. You really only had one day left here, so you felt the urgency to soak up as much information as you could.
Your body, however, had different ideas. Though your mind was busy with information, the exhaustion, mental and physical, took over. You fought your drooping eyes and more frequent yawns as much as you could, but it was no use. In the midst of reading about upper and lower motor neuron connections in the spinal cord, you had fallen asleep, hand propping up your head over a medical tome.
And meanwhile, a certain silver-haired Hokage was looking for you.
———
Kakashi really shouldn’t have been surprised to find out you were at the medical library.
When you weren’t in your room, Kakashi went to the hospital to see if you had stayed late. The two doctors in charge of hosting you, Ritsu and Kagura, were also nowhere to be found. So he began asking around to see if you were anywhere. Finally, a young woman heard him asking, the patch of a Suna researcher on her white coat.
“Oh! She’s at the library, Lord Hokage. Would you like me to take you there?” She asked.
Ah, of course, he thought. “Yes, thank you.”
The researcher led him through a few hallways before stopping at a door, bowing, and leaving. Kakashi thanked her and opened the door.
The library was not large by any means but it was filled with shelves upon shelves of books, tomes, and scrolls. It was slightly intimidating, knowing he would not understand anything behind the covers of these books. But he had a feeling that when you walked in, you had one of those big, lovely smiles on your face.
The aisles between the shelves were small and winding, and as he began to make his way through to find you, he guessed if you had the time, you would probably read every single book in the room. He knew the same was probably true for the medical section of Konoha’s library.
It didn’t take him long to find a corner in the back with a small table next to a window. There you sat, surrounded by books and scrolls, looking down at one open in front of you while you rested your head on your hand.
Your back was facing him and you hadn’t moved, maybe hadn’t heard anyone come in. Probably too caught up in your reading, he guessed.
“Burning the midnight oil, Doctor?” He couldn’t help but smile, leaning against one of the shelves.
But you didn’t answer. You didn’t even move a muscle. It was then Kakashi noticed the slight rise and fall of your shoulders as you leaned on your hand.
Quietly, Kakashi made his way toward your side and leaned over to take a look.
Fast asleep.
Your cheek was slightly squished by your hand as you leaned most of your weight on it. Your mouth, barely parted, let little snores escape as you breathed in and out deeply. Your other hand rested a finger on a line of text, one you couldn’t help but abandon for sleep.
You looked lovely. You looked beautiful.
Kakashi’s heart melted at the sight of you, and that feeling in his chest pulled at him again. Like last night. And the night before. And every night and every day since he’s gotten to know you. It had grown significantly since the stay in Suna, and as it grew, Kakashi was feeling something else.
Fear. Uncertainty. It made a part of him want to run.
Kakashi had always run from his feelings. He pushed others away. He retreated when things got too close, too personal, too real. Over the years, he had been called out on it and tried to make the changes. Little by little, he let his walls down, let others in, and let his loved ones close. Gai, Naruto, Sakura, Sasuke, and others showed him there was nothing to be afraid of.
But it has been a long time since Kakashi felt anything like this. Really…he’d never felt anything like this.
Gai’s words echo around in his mind. “Whatever you do, just be yourself, Kakashi. I could see in her eyes, too, that you mean something to her!”
That day, Gai had given Kakashi the push he needed to explore whatever…this was with you. Kakashi was thoroughly enjoying getting to know you, maybe pushing your buttons a bit to see you flustered, seeing you experience your first journey out of the village, and out of the Land of Fire.
At first, it had been a crush. But now, it was running deeper, followed by this persistent feeling in his chest and…Kakashi was…
You stirred slightly at that moment, nuzzling your head in your hand and breaking Kakashi out of his thoughts. You didn’t wake though, just murmured something in your sleep and continued to slumber.
Kakashi smiled. His thoughts could wait for now.
Gently placing his hand around your shoulders and leaning down close to your ear, he spoke. “Doctor.”
You barely moved. Kakashi tried again, giving your shoulder a squeeze and a soft shake. But nothing. Whatever dream you were in must have been a good one. He hoped at least, anyway.
Kakashi dared to think for a moment that maybe he was such a comforting presence to you, you detected no threat and felt safe to continue your sleep. Because he tried several more times to wake you up, only for you to murmur nonsense and then eventually lean back into his hold on your shoulders.
The close contact of your head against his chest made him stiffen for a moment, and he even felt his cheeks heat. But you just melted into him further, and his heart melted all over again.
Alright, then, he thought with a smile.
Kakashi maneuvered slowly and gently, careful not to wake you. He made sure to keep your head on his chest while he slipped his other arm underneath your knees. He lifted you up, holding you close against him.
You didn’t stir once, just curled your arms up and nuzzled further into his chest.
Whatever thoughts had been plaguing him moments ago had disappeared fully as he looked at you. The hard-working, dedicated Doctor, asleep in his arms.
You were going to freak out once you found out.
Kakashi chuckled to himself thinking about your reaction, but he needed to get you to your room to get proper sleep. It wouldn’t do for the hospital staff to see you in his arms like this so he decided to swiftly hop up to the open window and jump out, making his way to Suna’s headquarters via the village’s rooftops.
———
You dreamed of flying through the night sky, a warm embrace, the smell of rain and laundry and home.
You dreamed of Kakashi.
His face was suddenly there, through your bleary eyes. “Kakashi, what are you doing here?”
You could see him smile, and suddenly you were met with softness against your back. “Get some sleep, Doctor. I’ll see you in the morning.”
You couldn’t argue with him. So you continued to dream of the night sky, a warm embrace, and him.
———
Late late late I’m so late!!!
You scrambled to find some clean clothes after your very quick shower, panic rising in your chest as you looked at the time. Ritsu and Kagura would be here any minute to come get you, or maybe they had already come by. You had no idea. All you knew was that you woke up in your clothes from the previous day and were so late!
“What kind of medical representative…some professional I am…” you mumbled to yourself, quickly pulling on some pants.
Pulling on your white coat again and deciding it best to wait for them outside Headquarters in case they were waiting, you burst out of the room—
—and froze in your tracks when you found Kakashi leaning against his door, a smirk shaping behind his mask.
“Good morning, Doctor.”
“Wha—uh, good morning, Kakashi,” you gulped. “I uh, I’m really late—“
“I told Ritsu and Kagura they’d be expecting you late this morning because we needed to quickly go over some Konoha business.”
You just stared at him for a moment before the wheels started turning. “I…oh.”
He covered for me.
“And that they shouldn’t bother coming to pick you up because I would be escorting you to the hospital.”
You couldn’t help but sigh, a smile shaping your lips before you closed your door behind you. Kakashi smiled back, holding out his arm for you to take.
“Thank you, Kakashi,” you looked down bashfully. “I appreciate it.”
“Ah, of course, Doctor,” he lilted. “But, your shoes are on the wrong feet.”
“Wha—!” You snapped your head down, panicked. But as soon as you realized his terrible joke, his deep chuckle rumbled in his chest.
You huffed. “That is the worst. You’re the worst.”
“Ah, so mean, Doctor. And I thought we were becoming friends…”
"How did I get home last night anyway? I don't really remember...did you walk me home?" You asked, curious.
"Yes," Kakashi answered, and then lowered his voice. "Although I did most of the walking..."
"What?"
"Oh, nothing."
As you stepped out of Headquarters and into the village, arm still linked with Kakashi’s, the streets were even busier than yesterday as well as almost fully decorated for the festival that would begin later tonight.
“The Stars Festival,” you said remembering what Ritsu and Kagura had mentioned. “Did you know about it?”
Kakashi hummed. “I only remembered when Gaara had mentioned what a perfect time of year it was for a visit.”
“Have you been?” You inquired, looking up at him.
Kakashi shook his head. “No, but I’ve heard about it. One of Suna’s oldest traditions.”
“Kagura and Ritsu told me about it,” you smiled. “I’m looking forward to seeing it for myself.”
“Yes, me as well,” Kakashi said.
It fell silent between you as you looked around at the people decorating, planning, and setting up booths and stalls. You loved festivals as a child and as an adult and felt excited to see what it would be like in another village.
The path to the hospital approached quickly, and you made your stop there with Kakashi, snaking your arm out from his. “Thank you for walking me, Kakashi. I appreciate it.”
“Of course,” he said simply. “Have a good day.”
You waved at him and returned the sentiment before turning around and making your way down the path, almost to the doors—
“Doctor!”
Kakashi’s sudden voice made you turn around immediately and met his gaze, wondering what he called you for.
He stood with his hands in his pockets, eyes locked on yours but…uncertainty marked his features. And then, you thought maybe, just maybe…you saw the slightest tinge of pink creeping over his mask.
“Would you like to accompany me tonight?” He called. “To the festival?”
You felt frozen, processing what he had just asked you before your cheeks erupted in warmth. And then, the biggest grin you couldn’t help followed.
“I’d love to!” You called back, almost breathless.
Something flashed in his eyes and he quickly turned around. He began to walk away and threw up a hand. “Then it’s a date, Doctor!”
You felt like you could almost collapse, right then and there.
It’s a date!

12:09 pm ☆ suna rintaro
tags: fem!reader, petnames (wife, princess), idk if you'd call this angst but here you go
suna rintaro hates you. maybe he would even go as far as saying he despises you. and it's not because you're genuinely a bad person or you are just terribly annoying. no, of course not. it's because you left him; cold, alone, and lonely because you've abandoned him.
suna rintaro lays there, still in bed, curling his fingers up into a fist. kind of in anger but also in a way to keep them warm. his body shivers in coldness, only because you left him. no, not because he left the ac unit on cool nor the fan that ran itself in front of him. definitely not. his stomach hurts because you denied him. the grumbling noises that voiced, he was hungry because of you. and suna swears it's not because he didn't eat breakfast. it's you. always has been because of you. it's what makes him feel he's trapped in bed. trapped in endless doom because you decided to walk out.
"hey rin?" you call out from wherever you stood in the living room. but suna rintaro swears he must've misheard you. there's no way you're back, after everything you have put him through. you softly knock on his room door before cautiously peaking your head through the crack. "rin?" you question once more. your voice graced suna's ears as he finally looked at you.
"you left me." suna bluntly said, his eyes continued to stare at you almost as if you weren't real. "i had to go to work, rin." you rolled your eyes, though you weren't truly annoyed at his dramatic antics. "you shouldn't have to." before moving another step towards your boyfriend, you halted to a stop. sucking in a sharp breath before exhaling loudly. "what do you mean?" your heart started racing over the complications of his sentence. really, you shouldn't get your hopes up but the small comments you've picked up after time has put you on your toes.
"you know, when we move in together, we should..."
"this would look good in our apartment."
"our apartment..."
and for the first time of the day, suna has finally sat up. the room doesn't feel cold anymore. at least, to him. "it means you should quit your job and let me take care of you."
"rin, you know i can't do that. i have to pay for rent and groceries, and-"
"so move in with me." suna cuts you off, the small ding coming from his phone is the only thing that filled the silence between you two. the soft and fluffy blankets that curled around suna was the only thing you saw in the dark room. the sun was shut out by the black-out curtains hanging in front of his windows. you took one step forward, your hands quickly fiddled with each other in anxiousness. "but-"
"i also, think you would make a great addition to my, our place. you wouldn't have to leave me and we'd always be together until death." suna adds, he seems to have been adding up the pros of you moving in with him for a while. the emptiness of his stomach has dissipated, at least for now. and suna thinks that now you're here with him, staring, kind of awkwardly at him, makes him feel a lot less alone. "but, i don't want people to think i'm with you only for your money, rin." you hesistantly mumbled out but for suna, he heard it well enough. "speaking of which, you'd make a great housewife, don't you think?"
"rintaro, im serious."
"and im serious too."
suna smirks as soon as he sees your own resolve crumble, falling into putty in the palms of his hands. "i'll move in, fine." suna wraps you in his arms, closing the space in between you two before he kisses you softly on your forehead. "great, princess."

back up.
---♡---
pairing: rintaro suna x female reader
genre: dark, angst, (slight) enemies to comfort, some comedy in the beginning. // one shot, 3.9k words
synopsis: being the younger sister of the miya twins definitely has its advantages and its... disadvantages. sure, it comes with all of the teasing from both them and their friends, but it gets more serious when people hold grudges on them and try to take out their anger on you.
content warnings: descriptions of assault, threats, sexual assault (no penetration), violence, injuries
---♡---
“Osamu!” You screeched, attempting to push your older brother off of you. “Get him off!”
Atsumu had tackled you to the ground and was sitting on your back, cackling with satisfaction as he pinned you down.
“I can’t help ya.” Osamu smirked as he walked by. He sat on the couch adjacent to you and Atsumu with an amused glimmer in his eyes. “Shouldn’t have eaten his pudding.”
“Why do you care if I eat his pudding?!” You growled, thrashing around under Atsumu to get some kind of leverage while he sat on you with all of his weight, rendering your limbs useless.
“If you eat his pudding, then he eats mine.” Osamu shrugged, “And I hate it when he does that.”
“Take it up with him! I just grabbed whatever was closest. You guys are so weird with your labeled food!” You tried to throw a punch at Atsumu and he caught your fist easily, snickering when you let out a loud whine. “Atsumu, get OFF!”
“No can do, kiddo.” He grinned, “Ya know what happens when you eat our food.”
“I’m gonna tell mom.” You mumbled.
“That’s dirty. Don’t bring mom into this.” Osamu interrupted and you shot a death glare at him.
“Stop involving yourself! I don’t need your commentary.”
“Don’t be such a tattle tale.” Atsumu teased, finally easing up on you and taking a bit of the weight off of your back. You gasped dramatically as you could finally take a full, deep breath.
“Thank you, god. You’re heavy.” You said quietly, deciding to fully submit and just lay down on the living room floor.
“Did you just call me fat?!” Atsumu gasped, crawling over to your face to look you in the eyes.
“Yes.” You nodded. Atsumu immediately turned to Osamu, who burst out laughing at his offended expression.
“Laugh it up, ‘Samu. If I’m fat then so are you.” Atsumu muttered as he finally stood up to take a seat next to Osamu on the couch.
“I can’t stand either of you.” You mumbled, grabbing a pillow and throwing it at them.
“Why’s baby Miya throwing a temper tantrum?” A familiar, monotone voice was coming from the entry way. You hadn’t even heard him come in.
“None of your business, Suna.” You glared at the tall boy. He responded with a crooked smirk while he walked in with his hands plunged deep in his pockets.
Suna was over at your house almost every day. He also teased you as much as your brothers did, if not more.
“Jeez, what’s with the attitude?” He snorted, “You sound like Atsumu. I swear you’re triplets.”
Suna jumped over the back of the couch and plopped down between the twins. You sat up, looking at the three of them for a second before getting up and retreating to your room.
“Aw, come on baby Miya. Where are you going?” Suna called after you while you walked down the hallway.
“I need to get ready. I’m going out tonight.”
You retreated to your bedroom and sat down at your vanity. Before you could even pull out a hair brush, Osamu had burst into your bedroom.
“Where ya going?” He asked, leaning against the doorway.
“Out?” You replied, getting up to sift through your closet for something to wear.
Your friend had set you up on a blind date tonight. Your mom had held your brothers back a year and since you were only 10 months apart, you were all in the same year. This meant you all had the same classmates, knew all of the same people, and they were constantly in your business.
When your friend had told you about this guy, he sounded too good to be true. He had gone to another school that was a bit further away, but since you had all graduated a few months prior you figured a bit of distance wasn’t that big of a deal. After all, you were all adults now.
“Out where?” Atsumu asked, pushing the door open all the way and standing against the other side of the frame.
“On a date…” you muttered. The moment you said that, your brothers came in and promptly sat on your bed.
“Where are you going?”
“With who?”
“Where did you meet him?”
“How old is he?”
“Is he picking you up?”
“How long have you known him for?”
“Oh my god.” You groaned, pointing at your door. “Can you guys get out? I need to get ready. Why are you asking so many questions?”
“Believe it or not, kiddo, we just want to make sure you’re safe.” Osamu said, standing up and walking over to pat you on your head.
“Ugh, ‘Samu, you guys don’t have to treat me like a kid still. I’m an adult now, you know.” You said, crossing your arms.
“But you’ll always be our little sister.” Atsumu smiled. “Mom can’t keep track of all of us all the time. So we need to do it for her.” His words were genuine. Even though the three of you bickered and teased each other, you were protective of each other. You knew your brothers would do anything for you.
You’d never tell them, but you’d do anything for them, too.
“If anyone needs keeping track of, it’s you two.” You smirked. Atsumu rolled his eyes and Osamu shrugged you off.
Your brothers tried to pry more information out of you, but you only told them the bare minimum. After all, you barely even knew anything. You didn’t even know his name.
“So? Where’s she going?” Suna asked as the twins came back into the living room. He was sprawled out on the couch and flicking through the tv channels.
“That restaurant downtown. The one a few bus stops before your house.” Atsumu said with crossed arms. “She won’t let us drive her.”
“I’ll take the bus with her.” Suna shrugged, “It’s on the way, so I’ll make sure she gets there safely.”
“Good. Then you can tell us who she’s meetin’ there.” Osamu smirked.
Whether or not Osamu had asked, Suna was planning on finding that out regardless.
“Call is if you need anythin’!” Atsumu called to you as you walked to the door.
“We’ll come! Just call us, okay?” Osamu added.
“I’ll be fine, but thanks. I’ll text you when I’m on my way home.” You said loud enough for them to hear you in the other room. “Love you.”
“Love ya!” They replied in unison.
—
“Are you sure you’re not just spying on me?” You mumbled just loud enough for Suna to hear you from the seat behind you.
“Just decided to go home, baby Miya.” He replied, leaning forward. “Why? Do you want me to spy on you?”
“No!” You turned around and squinted your eyes at him. He looked back at you with a playful smirk and then went back to paying attention to his phone.
You got off the bus and hesitated for a moment, half expecting Suna to get off after you.
Except he didn’t.
You sighed, feeling the nerves creeping up and realizing you really were all alone now. Meeting a man you didn’t know, and unsure of what to expect.
You looked around and pulled out your phone to check the message from your friend again to refresh yourself on the characteristics of your blind date.
Dark hair, about 5’10, dark green eyes, ah-
“Miya, is it?” A man fitting the exact description was standing in front of you, a rose in hand and suspicious smirk across his lips.
“Yes, sorry, what’s your name?” Your voice was trembling and you had no idea why. You chalked it up to nerves, but it might’ve been the uneasiness you’d felt when you made eye contact with him.
“Daishou Suguru.” He said melodically. He handed you the rose and lightly pressed his hand to your lower back. “Shall we go inside? I have a table for us.”
You nodded, walking inside with him.
——
“So, Miya, any relation to those twins?” He asked, leaning in with his chin on his palm. He stared at you intently as if he wanted to soak in every word you were about to say.
“Oh, yeah. They’re my brothers.” You smiled. Even though they irritated you, you always liked to talk about them. You were proud of your brothers and all of their accomplishments, and talking about them was easier than having to come up with things to say about yourself.
“Ah,” Daishou nodded, thanking the server as she passed your dishes to the two of you. “Those two are real shit talkers, huh?”
“Yeah,” you laughed, a bit too casually for the occasion and realized you’d never even heard this guy’s name prior to tonight. “Wait, why do you say that?”
You were familiar with pretty much all of the volleyball players that your brothers had faced off against. Inarizaki’s own team were like family, but the other teams were around so often you’d gotten to know quite a few of the players from other schools just by going to the games and tournaments.
“Played against them once.” Daishou mumbled, the previously warm expression in his eyes was gone. “I don’t know which one I hate more. The mouthy setter or the spiker with the ego.”
You got goosebumps when he spoke these words. These weren’t normal rivalry grudges. This sounded like pure, unprecedented hatred.
You started to feel uncomfortable.
You hummed in acknowledgement. You weren’t sure how to reply, but you wanted him to know you’d heard him and were listening.
“So, how are you going to make it up to me?” Daishou asked. You froze, looking up at him.
His previously cold expression was warm again, cheeks round with a big smile. “I’m kidding.”
“Oh,” you giggled nervously and decided to focus on eating your dinner.
The rest of the evening went by okay. Little comments like that would have you unsure if there were ulterior motives, but when you’d try to look into it you’d see a happy smile from your date. Maybe he really was just joking, and was nervously trying to make you laugh.
When it was time to go, Daishou paid for the both of you and you left the restaurant together.
It was dark outside and pouring rain. You sighed, looking down the street at the empty bus stop. The bus wouldn’t be coming for another 20 minutes.
“Let me wait with you for the bus.” He smiled, wrapping an arm around your waist again. “I wouldn’t want you out here all alone.”
You reluctantly accepted but tried to keep your distance. While his arm was around you, your arms were crossed and you were trying to stay as far from him as possible. Something was off, and you wanted to get as far away from him as quickly as possible.
You sent your brothers a quick text to let them know which bus you’d be on.
“Let’s wait over here. Out of the rain.”
Before you could reply, he grabbed your hand and yanked you down a small alley. It was covered by the overhead of the buildings roof, but was pitch black.
“I had a nice time tonight.” Daishou purred, pressing his body against you and trapping you against the cold brick wall.
“Yeah, me too…” You said quietly.
Only a few more minutes.
Daishou leaned down, trailing his hand up your chest and wrapping his long fingers around your throat. Your breath hitched and you felt tears well up in your eyes. You knew something was wrong. You knew something was going to happen. Your gut feeling was never wrong.
You tensed up, preparing to punch him the moment you felt pressure from his fingers. Instead of choking you, however, his hand rested gingerly on your skin and he leaned down to kiss you.
You kissed back, completely uninterested but not wanting him to know that.
“So, you are easy.” He smirked against your lips. He grabbed your hands and held them against the wall. His tongue started to force its way into your mouth and as you tried to break away, his body pressed into you harder, making you unable to move.
“Please stop,” you whimpered, “I don’t- I don’t want this.”
“Just relax.” He dug his fingers into your wrist, holding both of your hands together with just one of his, and using his free hand to move down your body and fondle your chest.
“Daishou- I-“ you gasped when he bit down on your neck. It didn’t feel good at all, and was just a swearing pain.
“You know, it really is a shame that you’re related to those two.” He muttered against your skin. “You’re a pretty girl. Probably would’ve liked you had your shitty brothers not have been such dicks.”
“Please, please just get off-“ You sniffled. You fought your brothers all the time, so why couldn’t you get him off? Why were you tensing up? Why were you crying? Just push him off, just push and run.
“Shut up.” He muttered. He slipped his hand into your pants and you let out a sob.
“No, no! Get off of me! Stop!” You were crying now, your voice getting louder as you attempted to break from his hold.
Unfortunately, he was just too strong for you. He smacked you across the face and pressed his palm to your mouth.
“I told you to shut up.” He growled. “Blame the twins for this.”
You were sobbing now. Completely terrified as this man assaulted your body in this dark alley and all you could think about was how badly you wanted to get out of there. How badly you wished your brothers had spied on you, how much you wanted them to protect you in that moment.
Daishou glared at you as your wails got louder, pulling back and slapping you across the face so hard you thought you were seeing stars.
“That’s what happens when stupid girls like you don’t listen. Now be quiet!”
Your vision was blurred and dark and you thought you were about to pass out when you felt the weight of his body completely lifted off of you.
You immediately felt relief, not in the form of safety by any means but you felt like you could somewhat breathe again. The blow he’d given you to the head had you feeling dizzy and you sunk to the ground against the wall.
“You fucking-“ *whack*
“piece-“ *whack*
“of shit!” *whack*
You squinted your eyes open at the familiar voice. The same voice that had annoyed you earlier that afternoon. The voice that immediately gave you a sense of safety in that dark alley.
“Suna..?” You barely managed to squeak out. You were sure he didn’t hear you considering you could barely hear your own voice.
“You’re going to regret this for the rest of your life.” Suna spat, landing another punch directly to his face. “If you have issues with someone, take it up with them like a fucking man.” He growled. “Instead of preying on their little sister. You’re pathetic.”
Suna stood up off the ground and all you could do was watch through squinted eyes and your knees pulled to your chest.
He pulled something out of his pocket, it shined under the street lamps and you weren’t sure what it was. He grabbed Daishou by the collar of his shirt, forcing him to stand up before pressing the object against his throat.
“Give me one reason why I shouldn’t just kill you right here.”
You closed your eyes, covering your face in your arms when you heard Daishou start to sob. He sounded like you did a few minutes ago.
“I’d go to jail for her, no questions asked. Trust me when I tell you that I won’t hesitate.”
Suna was much bigger than him. Stronger. Taller.
“Hey,” Suna growled, pushing him against the brick wall. Daishou looked as light as a rag doll when Suna was throwing him around. “Answer me when I’m talking to you.”
“Please- I don’t- I’m sorry-“ Daishou choked out.
Suna laughed. A completely genuine laugh that made your skin crawl.
“Are you? Are you sorry?”
You looked back up at the two men, closer to you now and you could see that the object Suna had against his throat was a knife.
“Suna, wait-“ You tried to say to him, but your voice was still shaky and quiet.
Daishou was sobbing now, tears flowing from his eyes and wails ripping from his throat.
“Not so tough when you’re the one on the receiving end, huh?” Suna glared, putting his knife back in his pocket and throwing Daishou back onto the ground.
“Get the fuck out of here before I change my mind.” Suna said in a dark, low tone you hadn’t heard from him before. “And if you ever come near her again, I really will kill you.”
Daishou scrambled to his feet, holding his head and trying to stop the bleeding on his face that was surely from one of the rings Suna was wearing on his fingers.
You trembled against the wall, staring at Suna’s back as he watched Daishou leave. As soon as he was out of eyesight, he quickly turned to you and crouched down.
“Hey, it’s okay.” His voice softened, his gaze was kind and he hesitated before touching you. “Can I help you up? Can you stand?”
You nodded weakly and he crouched down, putting his arms under yours and standing you up. You could feel your legs wobbling and held onto his arm for support.
“Ugh,” He sighed, the pain in his voice coming through when he saw the true damage that’d been done to you. His hands carefully put you back together as best he could. He buttoned your shirt and pants back up, and shrugged off his jacket to put it on you instead.
You grabbed onto the sleeves and pulled them over your hands. It was even bigger than your brothers’ jackets, and you sunk into the soft material trying to grasp onto any little piece of comfort you could get.
Suna picked you up and held you against his chest. You wrapped your arms around his neck and he supported you from under your legs.
“How did you know where to find me?” You asked, your voice still quiet and strained.
“They told me what bus you were taking home so I came to make sure you got on okay. When it came and left without you I got worried and looked around, and then I heard you crying.” Suna let out a stressed out breath, “You know, I really would’ve done it.”
“I’m glad you didn’t.” You said, closing your eyes. You couldn’t even process what had just happened and didn’t know what you would’ve done if Suna wasn’t with you right now.
——
Suna’s house was only down the road, and you agreed to go there and get cleaned up before heading back home.
“Here,” Suna handed you a pair of comfortable pants and a t-shirt. “They’ll be way too long on you, but it’s better than your soaking wet clothes you’re wearing now.”
“Thanks…” you accepted the offer, stepping into the bathroom to change.
When you came out, Suna had changed too, but his eyes widened with shock when he saw the extent of your injuries.
He swore under his breath and approached you. When he reached out and touched your neck, his cool hand soothed the sting of the deep bite Daishou had embedded in your neck.
“Can’t believe he fucking bit you.” Suna’s voice was so quiet he was practically whispering, and you weren’t sure if he was talking to you or just thinking out loud. He trailed his hand around your throat and pressed his fingers on the deep bruises forming from when you’d been choked.
“That helps,” you sighed, leaning into his touch. Suna pulled his hand back as if he wasn’t even aware he’d been touching you.
“What do you want to do now? Should we call Osamu and Atsumu? Want me to take you home?” He placed his hands on your shoulders and continued looking you over. Suna brushed your hair out of the way, inspecting your face closely and grunting when he looked straight on at the black eye starting to appear.
You winced when his thumb grazed over the side of your head and he immediately pulled back.
“You were hit really hard. You should go to the hospital.”
You shook your head. “I don’t… I don’t want to go anywhere. Not right now, anyway.” You stepped over to his bed, sitting on the edge. “Can I just lie down?”
Suna nodded and pulled the blankets open, gesturing for you to crawl into his bed. He pulled the blankets on top of you and patted your arm.
“I’m just going to go into the kitchen to get a glass of water. I’ll shut the light off so you can rest a bit.”
The moment you couldn’t feel his presence in the room anymore, your mind travelled back to where you were earlier that night. Being attacked in a dark alley and suddenly you were feeling suffocated.
You sat up, gasping for air and Suna ran in, turning the light on and sitting next to you.
“Its okay, it’s okay,” He murmured, wrapping his arm around you and pulling you into him. He stroked your hair and let you cry out your fear as long as you needed to.
“I don’t…” You sniffled, “I don’t know what happened. When you left I just felt so scared all over again.”
“I’m sorry.” He said quietly, pressing his cheek against the top of your hair.
“Please don’t leave me alone.”
Suna nodded and stood up to go turn the light off again.
“Wait, where are you going?” You felt the panic start to take over again when the bed dipped down beside you.
“I’m right here.” His voice was kind. The Suna you’d known to always tease and annoy you had been replaced by something you could only describe as being your safety net.
Maybe this side of him was always here, and you just hadn’t ever noticed.
You laid back down beside him, moving close and nuzzling into his chest just like you had when he was carrying you. He wrapped his arms around you and softly trailed his hand up and down your back.
“I’ve got you, okay?” He whispered, “You’re safe with me. I promise. Just try and get some rest and we can worry about everything in the morning. You’ve been through enough tonight.”
You nodded and felt the relief wash over you. You knew you had a lot to deal with tomorrow, but having Suna by your side made it seem a little less scary.
Thinking back, he always was by your side. He would defend you when the twins would get too rough, and was definitely guilty of giving guys an intimidating glare when they’d try to hit on you.
You sighed, soaking in the feeling of his warmth.
You knew that from them on, you wanted nothing more than to be on his side.
And for him to stay on yours.

heyo ayo ^-^
pick a blorbo that is close to you heart and just word vomit about them, im very interested in your favorite characters and the reasoning behind them ^-^ (if you dont want to thats okay too lolol)
*sorry if this is a lil random and out of the blue aaaa*
hihi :>>> and i dont mind random stuff, it just makes me happy seeing ppl in my inbox-
uh- ok hold on, theres gonna be like three (maybe more i cant count-) bc i cant choose between them-
Supernatural i think the shows actually kinda old, but do i care? not one bit im also only at the end of the fourth season, and ive got ten(ish) more to go sooo- (if you know what the show is ignore this, but if not read on: its essentially about these two brothers (sam and dean) who fight supernatural beings title lol -- things like demons, ghosts, monsters, etc basically anything from old mythology from all cultures) anyway- love love love this show bc 1. characters are so good, and like well developed (continuing to develop throughout the show as well) like omg- 2. plot is literally amazing like wth, theres usually a bunch of plot twists 'n stuff, so it keeps you hooked alotta the time and 3. it might be dramatic, but it has its funny moments too (also the fandom is still like *aggressively* active with all the ships-) favourite characters so far- dean, older brother, loves food (like me sometimes), and the reason for most of the jokes in the show (as in he makes them, and ppl make some abt him) honestly hes just really funny and i love him platonically second favourite (he might actually be my first but-) castiel, he doesnt appear till the start of season 4 but its worth the wait, i think ppl find him annoying at first but hes so pretty and i aggresively simp for him platonically, hes also kinda dry but that makes it funnier- (fun fact, ppl ship dean and castiel together -- destiel -- so its funny that they're my two favourite characters-)
Merlin show got cancelled but used to air on BBC, its set in medieval times (king arthur, is legit a character but hes not king yet), so its got magic, sword fighting, the whole thing love the show bc again characters are amazing, plot is amazing, and while its dramatic it has its funny moments (also even though the show ended like ten years ago, fandom is still active and i love that)my favourite character is probably gwaine, i cant explain why he just is (if you watch the show you'll understand)
finally (but *definitely* not least) Haikyuu- idk why i think its mainly just bc the eng dub makes me smile every time i watch one of its episodes- and also probably bc i simp for so many of the characters (shhh-) also recently learnt im a bokuto kinnie do with that what you will *major* sakusa simp, he's just so pretty and i cant handle it, and idc if people think hes distant and moody and stuff bc i literally love him(you can probably tell that by the amount of kiyoomi content i reblog)- i also simp a lot for suna, just bc have u seen him hes pretty as sooo- its also bc i find him funny and i just love him ok? (also low quality suna pics i legit love for some reason-) a character from haikyuu i love but in a more platonic way, is bokuto, again he's pretty- but its also his personality is just so chaotic and i love him for it- especially when him and kuroo are together, it just makes things all the more funnier for me
uh- there's more shows, but this is all i can think of rn- also sorry its so long, i tend to ramble a lot sometimes-
what about you? favourite blorbo/s? feel free to ramble, people being happy makes me happy

Haikyuu fanfic recs for ones I liked hehe
EDIT: I made a pt 2
Anyway, as the title suggests, I am recommending some fanfics for popular(ish) ships that I personally really enjoyed! I’m only doing one or two fics per ship (which in hindsight is KILLING me so I’m just putting the first fics I find and am like I really liked that one LOL) because I wanted to do a shorter fic rec list (tho watch this become super long LOL). I also may or may not be procrastinating finishing a couple other long posts, so there’s that hehe. For the (kinda but not really) public consensus for best fics per ship (by kudo count) check out some of my other posts. Also I’m putting some ships I don’t actually read much of (OOPS LOL) so if you think that there’s a fic that fits my type (if I even have a consistent type) better, pls tell me LOL. Otherwise, pls continue heh :)
As always, pls check WARNINGS, TAGS, and SUMMARIES for fics before reading to make sure you’re taking care of yourselves (since mental health is key!) and stay healthy!
IwaOI:
The Loyalty of a Traitor by DeathBelle (E) 76.9k // ok so does me liking this fic make me basic cause I feel basic LOL. I really love mafia fics, and the way the story line developed was SO good, like IN LOVE with this story. This is a fic where you should read WARNINGS, TAGS, and SUMMARY before diving in, but if the length scares you, don’t be. It’s so easy to fall in and get lost in the writing!
the courtship ritual of the hercules beetle by kittebasu (chanyeol) (T) 66.3k // again, basic? Probably LOL but it’s good so I have no shame ;) Again, pls don’t let the word count scare you (cause it scared me LOL), you get really into it after like 2 paragraphs, so just make sure you have enough time to finish hehe.
KuroKen:
Thicker Than Blood by kylar (M) 91.4k // are you surprised that there is another mafia one? You really shouldn’t be LOL. Anyway, I’ll just be here pushing my mafia fanfic agenda while you read this monster of a fic hehe :) Definitely read WARNINGS, TAGS, and SUMMARY because there is some very sensitive topics involved! I also adore the oibokuroo friendship headcannon, so more reasons to read, right?
Liked, Commented and Subscribed by Royal Society of Pandas (Abarcelos) (T) 45.7k // this fic is SO funny omg. I read it and I had to stop so many times just to laugh because I could not stop sometimes LOL. However, there IS angst towards the end, it gets resolved, but it’s still there... But honestly, it just adds such depth and flavor to the fic, so pls read it!
BokuAka:
bang! now we're even by Authoress (M) 11.9k // so I’ll be honest, I don’t read a lot of BokuAka (...oops?) and so I wouldn’t consider myself as the best person to be recommending fics for this ship (in general too LOL).... ANyway, I love myself some good spy AUs (was gonna put that IwaOi spy AU but the LIMIT), and Akaashi in a dress? Like the tags might state, what more do you need? The characters are done beautifully, and the story development is SO good, so I give you all my humble BokuAka rec.
Crisis Converted by valiantarmor (M) 60k // man do I really love fighting in my fics LOL. This was super good and the plot itself kept me really engaged (what a twist omg). It does talk a bit about mental health issues, but it’s done so well, and they really did this AU justice!
DaiSuga:
How to Manage by SuggestiveScribe (E) 39.3k // ok so yea yea we established, I’m basic, BUT can you blame me? This might’ve been one of the first DaiSuga’s I’ve read and I have no regrets. Literally, this fic series is one of my favorites, so OF COURSE I had to add it somewhere :D Honestly, I don’t even think you need to read the first one to understand what’s going on, but I would just cause it has some funny DaiSuga moments too ;) This is explicit for PWP, so proceed with caution~~
Add New Contact by booksong (G) 8.5k // this one! It’s so cute and poor Daichi LOL. He really out here doing the most,,, Anyway, we love tech Suga, and a nice dash of snarky tsukki (LOL is he salt, yes yes he is). It’s very fluff and pine, so if you want to read Daichi having gay panic like 24/7, go right ahead LOL.
SakuAtsu:
Burden of Blame by DeathBelle (E) 91.2k // ummmm, haha what, another mafia AU? Me, predictable? Noooo, never..... Anyway, this one was so freakin’ good like, love it so much! It’s one of my favorite mafia AU fics, and I love the story line progression. Poor Atsumu being dragged into this mess, but it’s okay because THEY are IN LOVE. Honestly, this fic is Atsumu best boy like he is the best boy. BEST BOY.
Notte Stellata by awkwardedgeworth (T) 20.9k // I ignored all of the other fics I LOVE in this ship (like the pain I’m in rn), but I love this fic with my whole heart. Like I have reread this fic multiple multiple times because I love it so much (tho I might’ve skipped the angst a couple of times cause I didn’t want the pain okay?). I keep coming back, and the second fic in this series is SO funny and cute and I love it here. Please read it, it’s so FREAKING good, angst and ALL.
KyouHaba:
Team Mom by All_My_Characters_Are_Dead (T) 2.7k // so as I was going through this tag (because that’s what I do LOL), I remembered this fic and I love it. Like yes Yahaba is the fear factor and yes Kyoutani is the DAD. I really like the team dynamics in this one, and the first years make me laugh pls.
Camellias by kiyala (T) 1.9k // IK you’re all like, you’re missing such great fics, like no I’m not I just made myself hate myself by limiting fics to two per,,, I love this fic and when I starting looking for this ship, it was the first one I thought of hehe. I really love magic and their interactions are so cute and the PLANTS ARE DOING THE MOST. Pls read both in the series, cause domestic KyouHaba is best KyouHaba ngl LOL. I love the plants, and if you read the second one, someone tell the trees to stop bullying Yahaba.
MatsuHana:
This gets annoying fast, Makki by Ink_stained_quills (G) 2.3k // IM IN LOVE WITH THIS FIC PLS I COULD NOT STOP CRYING TEARS OF LAUGHTER. This AU needs more fics PLEASE. It was SO freakin’ funny and the other teams KILLED ME. Like how they all approached the problem differently and how some of them (KUROO) asked for help LOL. Please this is so freaking funny go read it.
boiled frogs by reginagalaxia (E) 91.5k // I told myself I was gonna put my most angsty fics on another post (which I will for my other favorite MatsuHana angst fic which I love), but this fic. Omg I saw it and I was like I have to. Literally I have to. I hate angst, but read it. It, the, plot, omg, I jjfnsfknalkjdnf ljksan. Like I’m not sure you understand. This fic. asjfjfsadnldjb. I never thought I could hate a character SO MUCH,,,, like SO MUCH. READ TAGS, WARNINGS, AND SUMMARIES because some serious stuff really goes down. Bless Iwa-chan.
SunaOsa:
Accidentally in Love by pancake_surprise (T) 19.6k // JOSE CUERVO strikes. I love this fic and all the chaos in it. The way they were supposed to be the responsible couple (of friends LOL),,, sike. This one is only a slight angst and it’s mostly love and fun :) Also technically this is no longer the first fic in the series, but I’m still putting this one cause the other one is SakuAtsu orientated hehe :)
Spring Secrets by DeathBelle (T) 3.8k // Seasons might be one of my favorite (as all things also seem to be) series of all times. I don’t like rerecommending fics I’ve already said to read, which is why I’m not yelling at you to go read a certain other fic (which is my life and blood). Anyway, this fic series is all fluff barely angst (maybe that’s why I like it) but it’s so freakin good pls read it all ahhhhhh.
Komori/Suna (what is their ship name):
I wish to live in a world by hatsuna (T) 24.8k // ok ngl this fic was so sad and relatable? Like I was like wtf why are you making me cry rn even though like I shouldn’t be? My heart? Pain. (Hotel? Trivago.) Technically, this is END GAME but the main pairing is kinda SakuAtsu???? Something of the sort, but also their relationship (Komori and Sakusa) is written so well and idk guys I think you need to read this fic rn.
Ah the two fic limit hurt me, but fear not I am making ship specific rec posts (LOL I’m so dramatic), so if you wanted more of a ship,,,, its a coming hehe. And yes I did say I’m making an angsty fic rec post, but we’ll see if it gets finished before I side-track with posts like these LOL.
#haikyuu fanfic rec#why are you guys shipping cousins#why is this a thing#pls what am I supposed to make of SakuKomo#No thank you#what the heck#what is komori and suna's ship name#i can't stop crying about the cousin thing#like im not one to judge interests#but this aint it#I love these fics#am I dramatic?#yes fight me#IwaOi#KuroKen#DaiSuga#SunaOsa#SakuAtsu#MatsuHana#KyouHaba#BokuAka#fanfic#fanfic recs#anime#manga#haikyuu fic recs#haikyuu#hq

Summer 2021 Opinions
Its that time I come here and pretend I am an anime connoisseur so alas, here are my thots on summer 2021 anime from worst to best
Sonny Boy
I want to like Sonny Boy, I really really do. And I am trying, I really am. I just,,,,, dont get it ASDFGHJ Maybe I am dumb, I am sure its that but like, I cant really enjoy something I dont understand. the music slaps and I think the metaphors and concepts overall are alright but just,,,, I wish I knew what was happening to have an opinion sksks
Tantei wa Mou, Shindeiru.
This is... Very generic. Like its all the same tropes all over and over again and like,,,, snooze tbh. I am a bit behind but the best part of this was the detective on the first ep and like //// bruh ASDFGHJK I mean I honestly wouldnt recommend this but if you're into the waifu kind of generic and sort of maybe kind of mysterious aspect go for it.
Cider no You ni Kotoba ga Wakiagaru
I am including the movie because I got to watch it and this was cute. It was nothing over the top that I would die for and stuff but it was okay. I think the animation and colors were super vibrant and unique and the boy is the best part of the movie. Its a sort of movie that you put in the background and enjoy while doing other shenanigans.
Uramichi Oniisan
It feels so wrong putting this so low because everyone is enjoying this and this is the sort of anime I would absolutely love because its dumb and comedic and dumb and shit but like it didn't really hook me? I mean I am super behind so maybe this will change but idk, its kind of boring at times and the jokes fly a bit over my head and I find it a bit too dramatic at moments but thats just me so dont even listen to what I say xddd
Re-Main
Another anime I reallyyy wanna like xddd,,,, And I do! Kind of.... I am a big fan of sports anime so this was on my radar for a while and the animation is great, the characters are alright and its all a bit formulaic but theres just something in the back of it that makes me not wanna put it higher.... I think it relates to the whole incident thing which, I get its a plot point but at the same time its kind of rushed and brushed over? Like if you take Number 24, which isnt perfect but alas I have a soft spot for, it uses a similar concept but its not overlooked while in here its just.... like no one cares lol?? idk I enjoy it but its not the best out there personally.
Shiroi Suna no Aquatope
Now we start getting onto the ones I enjoyed the most ayeE! Aquatope is an anime I was sure I was going to rate averagely, just because it looked a bit like Barakamon and I am not a huge fan of it but I was pleasantly surprised!! This is such a relaxing anime I put and my worries just wash away. It doesnt have an overly intricate plot or anything but its just soft and they are girlfriends and we get to see cute sea animals and its very cute with the animation, defo recommend it for something light to watch!
Deatte 5-byou de Battle
I didnt put this show in my original watch list but I started it just out of curiosity and surprisingly it really hooked me! Its sort of got that danganronpa-ish vibes to it and its a very interesting plot which I know at first looks generic but the main character carries it very well, every week I am lowkey interested to what is happening and understanding what is going on. I really enjoy the characters specially, their relationships are interesting and it’s overall good
Shinigami Bocchan to Kuro Maid
This is another I wasnt expecting to rank this high but I was pleasantly surprised! I absolutely adoooore Bochan and he is absolutely best boi. His relationship with Alice is super cute and it gets you rooting for them and I just need him to be okay and asdfghjkl ngl the last few episodes took a bit of a weird turn but I still love them lmaoo (I am looking at you bird guy)
Vanitas no Carte
VnC is fantastic. I dont have much to say because I’ve always loved the manga and the story is very heart wrenching and asdfghj WATCH IT FOR NOE OKEI? they are precious and its very heavy, the animation is super well done and the adaptation has been done very well! Its from the same author of Pandora Hearts in case you enjoyed it <3
Hamefura Season 2
OKAY YES MAYBE HAMEFURA IS NOT THE BEST ANIME OUT THERE BUT I ENJOY IT SO I GET TO PLACE IT FIRST ASDFGHJK Its cute, they are all great, the characters, the dynamics are hilarious the humor is great. I still think Season 1 was a bit better because of the pacing but overall its a very very good season 2 nglll
#Overall a very average season nothing completely outstanding but nothing bad either#like most shows are good but not 10/10 ya know?#kind of a forgettable season but alas I dont have many complains#not gonna tag all of them only the top asdfghj#anime#anime recommendation#anime opinions#hamefura#vnc#shinigami bocchan to kuro maid#Deatte 5-byou de Battle#aquatope

ch1. this voice im hearing rn? , hey bestie
word count: 2,090
the first song- The Ghost of You- my chemical romance
second song- I Bet on Losing dogs- mitski
third song- Crybaby- destroy boys
pocketing her phone after reading tendous message, she opens the door waving to a couple friends and offers friendly smile taking her seat. a pair of pale green eyes follow her. after yesterday suna did a little research about her y/n y/l/n the bassist and youngest in the band called 4u, she has quite a big following on twitter, she's really nice and interacts with the fans. looking at her now you can't imagine her on stage suna thought. breaking away from his thoughts as the teacher walks in. spouting for about what feels like hours and the students taking notes, finally lunch approaches. y/n jumps from her seat grabbing her case she walks to the third year hallway. waving to her friends they walk to her, tendou wrapping his arms around her “y/n!!!!!! i missed you” laughing as she hugged him back “tendou!!! i missed you toooo.” she turns to the grey haired male, “semisemi!!” she says giving him a hug, he rolls his eyes and hugs her back “and ushi!!” she turns to the brunette to which he pats her head “good afternoon y/n.” as they go to the lunch room to grab their lunch, they walk to one of the music rooms they usually occupy. a beep from her phone grabs her attention seeing her friend atsumu asking if him his twin and their friend can join for lunch, “hey guys you dont mind if atsumu and his friends come join us?” she says setting down her case against the wall. “nah you can invite them, atsumu is our biggest hype man” tendou says, grabbing his drum sticks from his back pocket. texting him its cool she goes to unzip her bass. “oh ms lady ive missed you” she says hugging the instrument, “i can't believe you two and always wanting to play, dont yall have any other hobby?” semi says, grabbing the schools given guitar setting the speaker up for y/n. tendou gives a scoff “semisemi dont act like you hate hearing us play i see you listening to our covers alllll the timeeeee” he says “yeah semi besides we have a concert soon and it wouldnt be bad to have an audience” y/n says walking to semi to connect her bass to the speaker when the door opens, entering is atsumu in the middle, osamu on his left, and a mystery guy in the back. setting her bass down running up to the blond “tsumu!!” giving him a hug “y/n!!” he hugs her back, she waves to osamu, who shes met on an occasion. looking towards the dark haired guy she walks up to him, noticing shes seen him somewhere. “youre suna right? we're in the same class?” she says giving him a hand and a awkward smile, nodding at her words. “hope its okay im here” he says taking her hand giving a slight shake. “nah dont worry its nice to have a different face, seeing tsumu is getting boring” turning around to the male. “what she means to say is we could use practice in front of new people” the grey haired male says giving a small laugh when tendou scoffs at him, both guys walking towards the small group. “this is semi and this is tendou” she says introducing them. when the introductions are over the two males go back to setting up, y/n walks the newcomers to the sitting area “here you guys can sit, im sure you all know ushijima” on hearing his name he looks up from his name giving a small head bow. they all sit “any recommendations tsumu?” y/n says walking to her bass making sure everything was good, looking towards the small group. “y/n you know my favorites” atsumu says stealing one of his brothers onigiri. y/n laughs and rolls her eyes, turning to tendou “anything you wanna try tori?” tendou looks at her with a smile “y/n lets show semi whatweve been working on” hearing this semi looked at them “what do you guys mean? what did you two do” y/n chuckles at the grey hairs doubtful expression “mr semisemi you know your favorite mcr song” when she sees him nod she continues “me and tori learned it” she says pushing him lightly. semi looked at her with wide eyes then at tendou, looking at semi tendou flicked his drum stick between his fingers with a nod. “wow semi cant believe you, we spent so much hours perfecting a my chemical romance for your sap self and he doesn't believe us y/nie i might
” tendou says fake sniffing. the little group in the back beyond confused, atsumu clearing his throat “have you three forgotten us already, wheres our show” ushijima nodding his head “yeah why are you guys being so vague” tendou snickers “dont worry you three and wakatoshi we have decided to play a new song or well cover i should say” “yeah and its semi’s favorite band you know the one that he wears on his shirts?” ushijima looking towards the girl after hearing her statement he nods. “okay can we play now ive been waiting to show my skills and get our lovely semi's opinion” y/n says removing her pick, both boys giving a ‘yeah’. finally tendou does the countdown. suna looks at all three of them with slight excitement in his stomach, ‘is this a new song im going to hear?’ before he could think of anything else, semi started playing a few chords by himself and y/n starting to add her own strums then tendou adding drums. sunas eyes widen at how well all the sounds blended together, freezing in his spot when semi started singing, when hitting the chorus y/n joins him. suna looking at her, he felt like he had been put in a trance, feeling like theres a spotlight on her when she starts nodding her head seeing her tongue sticking out when stringing the instrument. towards the end you can see y/n lose focus and her eye twitches, ending the song she sighs. “hey sorry about the end” waving to the guys to her left with a frown. hearing applause from the group the frown doesnt last long. “WHOOO!!!!! THAT WAS MY BESTIES GO SEMI! GO TENDOU! GO Y/N!!” atsumu gets up and yells. “that was so good what the hell that was yer first time too?” he says going up to the group, high-fiving y/n. “i mean me and tendou practiced together but semi basically has every song by them memorized but together? yeah our first.” tendou getting up to get his water that was next to ushijima. semi joining the fake blond and the girl, patting her on her back “that was a good first for us i can tell you and tendou worked hard, we're definitely adding it to the set list.” getting a laugh from both of them semi walks to the small group. “hey man that was really good, you have a nice voice” suna says as semi approaches, semi turned to him surprised “oh thank you im glad you enjoyed, do you listen to our stuff?” he says taking a seat next to him. “ive recently just started, i hope that doesnt sound too weird” the dark haired suddenly getting a little embarrassed, chuckling “its not weird i promise, well its good you listen to us or im sure it would've been awkward to just be here” nodding along to what he said. tendou going back to the drums “are you cowards tapping out now?” “COWARDS?!?!” y/n yells back turning around “i am no coward tendou satori i'll make you eat those words semi get over here” she said grabbing semis attention and shooing atsumu back to his seat. chuckling as he sat back down, turning to suna “howd ya like em? theyre good huh?” suna rolling his eyes “im not going to help inflate your ego tsumu” “yeah tsumu yer big ego is not cute” gasping to their remarks “you guys are so mean to me, i introduce you to nice music and even the artists and this is the thanks i get” before any could respond tendou starts clicking his sticks. starting this one is tendou with a slower sound, y/n entering second then semi with vocals. y/n leans down to mess with something by her foot turning a notch noises like static come out adding to the music, coming up fast she starts adding her vocals complimenting semis. pressing on the box she leans down as more noises come out. atsumu leans over to sunas ear “thats a pedal that holds other sounds and can help stretch other sounds” suna giving him a nod. towards the end y/n reaches down to the pedal again adding a distorted sound before adding her last bit of ‘oohs’ before the song ends. everyone clapping as the members stay still for s bit before y/n dramatically bows “youre so welcome lovely audience” she says blowing kisses to them, laughing at her atsumu jumps up and down pretending to be a crazy fan “oh y/n you were so go
od i love you y/n!!!” y/n laughing at him. “hey atsumu what about me!” tendou asks swinging his hand “howd i do?” “oh tendou you were so good, i love you too tendou!!!” he says swinging his arm back. tendou satisfied with his response nods his head, “and with that lets play one more i still want time to actually eat before we play again later.” “yeah lets try ‘crybaby’ we haven't done that in awhile” semi says getting in position.“remember y/n you do the verses” y/n nods clearing her throat “go tori” she says and tendou starts the counting again. starting the counting fast he gets one beat then y/n starts off with singing, swinging her bass back she grabs the mic. suna cracks a smile nodding his head a little as he remembers this song on their youtube, atsumu whistling when y/n dips down her mic as she sings, letting the boys have a solo in between verses she bobs her head. the last few seconds of the song she swings the instrument back as she steps on the pedal creating feedback, as semi goes to vocals she starts getting a solo with tendou playing, y/n leans forward and her and semi sing the rest of the song. after the last note they all look out of breath. clapping for them again letting them catch their breath, y/n starts laughing “i forget how hard that song is towards the end” laughing with her tendou nods “its literally the last 50 seconds that get the hardest” “alright lets clean up” semi says laughing at both of their bored looks they send him. finishing up they all go to the group whove are talking among themselves. sighing as she sits y/n takes the seat next to suna, “so howd you like the songs?” she says with a smile “they were good though i only recognized the last one” he replies, “tsumu told me you started listening to us recently so i thought or well semi thought wed show off a bit with our best song being that” she says with a smile grabbing her bottle. a small smile appears on his face “oh hey tsumu told me youre like really good in your classes and i really need help in history and since we have that group project coming up do you wanna pair up?” she says setting her bottle down grabbing a bag of chips. “yeah i dont mind as long as you actually do something and i can help you study if your grade is that bad” he says. “thatd actually help me out a lot i really appreciate it” she lets a breath out. after that the two spent all lunch just talking, the conversation coming easy for both of them. hearing the bell ring y/n hugs her friends and walks with suna to their class, pairing up in the project the teacher had given them in their period. after class before y/n rushed out she passed him her number with a wink “text me for the deets foxy boy.” ‘foxy boy? suna thought to himself shaking his head texting her with a simple ‘hey its suna’ and heading home.

two. SUNA RINTAROU
suna rintaro x fem! mitsuri reader
(kny x hq)
warnings: spelling mistakes, 3k+ words, italicized words/ sentences are her thoughts, mitsuri’s hair+eye color was used.
gen masterlist. sakura mochi.
"atsumu-kun, osamu-kun.." she trailed off with a hesitant smile "i don't think i need you to be beside me the whole time.." she said
currently, she was walking into the gates of inarizaki high, hoping to have a lowkey and fun first day of school. she was hoping to make some friends along the way as well. but now it seems she can't do that because two towering men are looming beside her, sporting a stoic and intimidating look as they glared at anyone and everyone that dared to even breath near her.
"nonsense." osamu said with a light scoff
"we gotta protect ya from these rabid dogs" atsumu snarled, emphasising on the dehumanising nickname as he growled at the boys near them
y/n simply sighed and chuckled lightly at his claim. "you're both acting like the rabid dogs, if anything.." she said. she watched them glare at the people around them as they entered the classroom.
for such a short amount of time together, the three had already formed quite a strong bond. perhaps it was because she was so lovable and welcoming. always building them up like the sweet girl that she is.
it was as if the twins had felt themselves softening for her. though atsumu flirted with her a lot, they both saw her as their little sister.
"uwahh!! your school is so nice!" she gushed as she looked around the clean and polished room. "i've never been to a school this fancy before" she said
"and your uniform is very pretty" she grinned gleefully as she patted down her skirt. "though it's a bit tight around certain areas.." she chuckled sheepishly
osamu and atsumu's head snapped towards her, their eyes widening as she slyly adjusted her white blouse around her bust and hip area. atsumu sucked in a deep breath as he turned away from her. he slapped the wall repeatedly as he silently screamed into his hand.
"samu...i know we had a deal" atsumu started off "but after seeing that" he said. the blonde dramatically gestured to the pink and green haired girl. his face was red and his eyes were tearing up.
"that was enough. it was enough to make me break our promise" atsumu said in a dramatically solemn tone
"what the fuck are ya on about" osamu asked unamusedly
"i can no longer see 'er as a sister.. i can only see.. THOSE EROTICALLY BEAUTIFUL CURVES-"
"SHUT UP, YOU ILL-MANNERED DOG!" osamu cut him off with a kick to the stomach "yer fuckin disgusting, y/n' s like our sister! we established that" he scowled at his twin
"BUT SHES NOT!! and she's SO FUCKIN PRET-"
"you're so pretty l/n-chan!" a new voice filled the air
"eh?? but you're so much prettier than me! your hair is so long and curly! and your eyes look like caramel!!" she replied flusteredly as she fawned over her classmate
both twins snap their head toward her as they heard much more voices ensue.
"ne, l/n-san.. do ya have a boyfriend?" one boy asked. the girl simply panicked over the question, vigorously shaking her head as she waved her hands dismissively
"ah no! i don't have a boyfriend.. though i'll admit it would be nice to have one" she squeaked out bashfully
of course, a few boys perked up from her statement and approached her.
"i could be your boyf-"
"oi." atsumu called out with a scowl "the hell are ya on about?" atsumu sneered at him as he stood tall, smirking mockingly at the boy as he wrapped an arm around y/n.
"m-miya-san!" the boy squeaked out in surprise "um.. i was just gettin to know 'er that's all!"
"tch." osamu scoffed "scram."
"yep! we're leaving!" the boys announce as they timidly turn on their heels and leave
"osamu-kun, atsumu-kun! why would you do that?!" she whisper shouted at them. her expression morphed into one of horror as she saw the other kids nervously stray away from her after the twins' outburst
"the kids are too scared to be friends with me now.." she sulked, resting her head on the desk as a gloomy aura surrounded her
"okay.. that's our bad" atsumu said as he patted her back "well, look at this way!" he chuckled nervously as he sent osamu a glance
"you can stick with us and we'll introduce you to our friends later on" he suggested with a smile
just as fast as her mood died down, was as fast as it brightened up once again. she faced them with her pale green eyes, sparkling in excitement as she clasped her hands together
"really? you'd do that for me?" she exclaimed
"of course! anythin' for you, doll" atsumu cooed at her
"actually.. why don't i introduce ya to one of 'em now?" atsumu mused as he spotted suna lazily trudging into the room
the brown-haired boy was yawning, looking like he was already on the verge of passing out as he plopped down on his seat
"please do!!" she nodded excitedly
osamu eyed her and his twin warily before leaving them be and walking back to his desk.
"suna!" atsumu called out as he held y/n's wrist in his hand "its too early for this" suna groaned out as he side eyed atsumu in annoyance
"i want ya to meet someone" atsumu said with a grin "she's the girl my family's hostin' "
"go away. i don't wanna meet-" suna cut himself off as his eyes caught a faint glimpse of pink from behind his friend.
currently, y/n was hiding behind atsumu's towering form, holding back her squeals as she held her blushing cheeks in her hands. she had only managed to catch a small glimpse of this 'suna' atsumu was speaking to and yet she had already planned their whole wedding and their kid's gender reveal party in her head.
'he's so.. HOT! AND PRETTY! AND COOL!' she panicked
'his eyes look like a fox's! and his hair is so cute and perfectly messy and he's so-'
she cut her thoughts short as she peeked once again to look at him. she swore she had felt herself short circuiting upon seeing him stand. this man was tall.
her face drained color as atsumu held her by her shoulders and pushed her towards his friend.
"this is y/n! she's our new housemate, and she wanted to make new friends soo..." atsumu cooed
suna nodded as he rubbed the back of his neck, hunching over, as his olive green eyes raked down her form. "hey, the name's suna rintaro" he said as he stretched out a hand for her to shake
"huh-oh um!" she stammered out as she shakily reached out to shake his hand "im l/n y/n" she said "it's nice to meet you, suna-kun"
she shook his hand with a flustered smile as she nervously picked at her skirt with her free hand
"you too.." suna replies quite dryly
this caused her to panic even more. her mind was in shambles as she nervously dwells on the possibility that he hates her. though because of that, it caused her hands to fidget, which gained suna's attention.
his fox like eyes averted to her skirt, which was getting badly crumpled the more she messed with it.
his eyes subconsciously trailed down even further, and locked themselves on her tighs.
"shit." suna muttered under his breath
"hm? is something wrong, suna-kun?" she asked warily
suna sighed through his nose and shook his head. he waved his hand dismissively as he sat back down on his seat "no, don't worry 'bout it" he said
"i just got.. distracted" suna gulped as he watched her tighs press together.
she nodded in understanding and waved him goodbye, assuming he's had enough of their conversation
"oh, alright then.. i'll see you around, suna-kun" she said as she sent him one last fleeting glance
"yeah, i'll see ya.."
"y/n-chan, you can come sit with us 'til ya find some new friends to sit with" osamu suggested as he walked past her
"uwah!! thanks so much, osamu-kun!!" she exclaimed as she gave him a side-hug "i was hoping you'd be fine with me joining since i even made you some mochi!" she said as she hugged her huge bento to her chest
"dont be silly. i like bein around ya" osamu said with the softest chuckle
though his soft aura faded as he gave atsumu a disgusted glare, and avoided suna who was taking pictures incase anything happens
"its just them that peeves me" he muttered through gritted teeth
"well, we can go ahead of you want?" she proposed. osamu looked down at her and nodded "yeah, let's go"
and so, the pair made their way to the cafeteria. along the way, osamu made sure to give her a small tour to make sure she won't get lost next time.
"we're here" he announced as he pushed through the doors, revealing the slightly packed room "ooh! there's so many people" she mutters out in interest
"mhm.." osamu hums along "oh, and there's kita-san and aran.."
her pale green eyes follow osamu's finger, which was pointing to a certain table where two boys sat and talked amongst themselves.
"let's go-"
"wahh!! osamu-kun!!" she squeaked and gripped onto his arm "that one with the gray and black hair is so cute!! and the taller one with darker skin is so handsome!!" she gushed
osamu's expression turned into one of dread as he watched her oggle at his teammates with literal heart eyes
"and they're both so tall and adorable!" she gushed even more as her blush worsened by the second. her grip also tightened the more she fawned, which left osamu's arm aching.
osamu felt as if his arm could burst if her grip gets even tighter than it already was
"why don't ya go greet them, y/n.." osamu suggested with a strained smile
"d-do you think i can do it??" she asked him "i'll be too embarrassed to be infront two handsome boys" she muttered worriedly to herself
"then how come yer quite comfortable with me and tsumu-"
"i can do it!" she ignored his question as she puffed her chest and breathed in deeply
"wait- are ya sayin' were not handsome enough to leave ya all chummy-"
"ah, samu! come join us!" aran called out as he waved his hand to get his attention
on instinct, she hid herself behind osamu's broad back, nervously fiddling with her braided hair as her other hand nervously grips her bento "i can't do it, osamu-kun!!" she hissed out
osamu ignored her words, as well as her nails clawing at his back. he simply dragged her along as he approached the table where kita and aran sat.
"oh, who's your friend?" aran asks with a kind smile as he peeks over osamu's shoulder to peer at the pink and green haired girl "introduce yer self" he urged her as he presented her to the boys
"ahm! im y/n!" she squeaked out flusteredly "i hope you don't mind me joining you for lunch.." she said with a sheepish smile as her fingers tapped on her bento
"not at all, please sit down" kita said in a polite manner as he slightly bowed his head in sign of respect
she sat down beside osamu and quietly hummed to herself, slyly stealing glances at the boys as she gushed over them in her head. "ah, y/n-san. samu told us you moved to hyogo just a few days ago" aran started up a conversation
'he's talking!' she gushed 'his voice!! mHhhMh'
"ah, yes.. i'll be staying with the miya's temporarily while my estate is being constructed" she explained
"that's nice" aran chuckled "though i wonder how ya could bare to live in the same roof as those two"
as if on cue, atsumu came running in, sporting a huge grin as he hides his hand behind his back. "y/n-chaaann! i got ya somethin'!" he exclaimed "really?! what is it?!" she asked back, just as excitedly
"mochi!" atsumu exclaimed with a smile as he pulled out a pack of sakura mochi
the three boys sweat drop as they both cheer and give each other high fives, smiling like children as they share the mochis with each other
"yay!" they cheered
"they get along quite well.." kita murmurs
"..i could probably sell this to the fan girls.." suna muttered as he inspected the pictures he took of atsumu smiling
y/n froze upon hearing his voice, her pale green eyes turning hazy as she bashfully covered her mouth to hide her smile "its suna-kun!!" she silently squealed to herself
"he looks so dreamy" she sighed lovingly, resting her chin on her hand as she watched suna walk towards their table while typing down on his phone
"he looks normal to me" kita chimed in as he, too, watched suna mindlessly walk towards them
'ah, he's so close! kita-san is so close.. i could feel his body heat!' she chanted on her mind
'and he smells so good!' she groaned internally as she basked in his sweet but masculine scent
osamu noticed her eyes leave suna, instead they were now planted on the side of kita's face as she shuffles around to contain her excitement "dont worry 'bout it" osamu said "she's like this with everyone"
"she's just that nice, i guess" he shrugged
suna then arrived at their table, sitting beside her yet still not looking up from his phone.
'oh.' she thought to herself ‘he's sitting next to me..?'
she looked beside her to check. just in case she was dreaming. she whipped her head around, and met eyes with suna rintaro himself. she blinked one. twice. her long and thick lashes fluttering as she stared at his olive green orbs.
she has concluded that she was in fact not dreaming.
"y/n..?" atsumu asked warily. he was more than aware that she could have short circuited right then and there. surprisingly, she didn't freak out. she simply looked at atsumu, looking like her soul is slowly leaving her body as she sent him an empty smile.
"yes, atsumu-kun?" she asked monotonously
"you alright?" atsumu asked with a wonky grin
"of course."
it was a lie.
she was not alright. in fact, she was currently hyperventilating. her heart was beating at an abnormal pace, and she was sure she had lost all focus to continue her total concentration breathing.
'HE'S SITTING NEXT TO ME?!?!?! OH MY GOD.'
her widened eyes looked down at their tighs, which were currently touching due to the limited space on the bench
'MY THIGHS ARE TOUCHING HIS?!?!' she panicked internally
'that had to mean something right? he's gotta be my husband in the future or something right? right??'
"oh, you're y/n, aren't ya?" suna mused as he bit into an oh-so-familiar looking mochi "tsumu gave me some of this." he said as he showed her two more pieces of mochi
"yer real good at cooking." he complimented with a curt nod
"thank you!" she beamed cheerfully at him
'cooking.. good cooking skills is one of a wife's admirable trait..' she chanted
'i must be his future wife.. it all makes sense now..'
she nodded to herself, agreeing to her assumptions with a hazy smile grazing her lips. she pulled out her bento and opened it, revealing an ungodly amount of food which looked like it could feed the whole volleyball team
"y-y/n-san.." aran chuckled "that's a lot of food. are ya sure ya can finish that all?" he asked with a worried smile
"of course!" she replied with a smile. she then started chomping on her lunch, humming giddily as she stuffs her mouth with food
"oh, suna-kun.. w-would you like some more mochi?" she asked with a determined look on her face
she stacked three pieces on a stick and handed it to him, waiting for him to take it with a small smile on her lips. suna side eyed her. his fox like eyes staring at the mochi in her hands, then her face, which was perfectly framed by her dual toned hair
and he swears he didn't mean to.. but his eyes trailed down to her chest. and her tighs.
now, suna wasn't someone to disrespect somebody like that. but he knows a total hottie when he sees one. pretty face, thick thighs, god tier personality. its all there.
"sure" he said with a nod
now again, he wasn't one to act on things like that.
but when a pretty girl is feeding you mochi, you gotta do what you gotta do.
so he opened his mouth and chomped on the treat all at once.
"e-eh?" she muttered in surprise as his teeth pull the mochis off the stick, leaving it slightly covered by his saliva. "thwanks" suna said, though it was muffled by the treats in his mouth
"..."
she couldn't say or do anything except freeze up and stare flusteredly at the saliva-laced stick in her hand.
"can i have that onigiri?" osamu asked, breaking the silence, as he reached out to snatch her onigiri off her bento
"a-ahm- uh-" she stammered as she blinked aggressively to try and contain herself. osamu didn't wait for her answer as he swiftly snatched the onigiri and chomped on it.
the gray haired male didn't say a word as he placed his hand on her nape to turn her head back towards her food. he also took the stick from her and threw it away, much to her displeasure.
"so.. how was everyone's day so far..?" kita asked them to break the silence
aran laughed at this and shook his head in amusement. he pointed to the girl who was as still as a statue, looking like her soul has ascended to heaven and had personally vibed with god.
"is she okay?" aran asked with a chuckle
"oi! y/n-chan! ya better not like suna, yer still my pretty girl, aight?!" atsumu exclaimed as he aggressively growled at suna
"as if she'd choose you." osamu scoffs
"oh, yer askin' for it-"
and that was how another fight between the miya twins ensued.

Contemporaneous - Chapter 1
Pairing: Atsumu x F!Reader
Summary: In which you are so incredibly lucky to exist at the same time as Atsumu Miya. Or, perhaps, it’s the exact opposite…
Words: 2.6k
Warnings: Swearing, inconsistent chronology (sorry I just liked it better that way), that’s about it so far
A/N: Okay, here’s ch. 1 finally! Mostly background, setting the stage, all that. Things will probably move quicker in upcoming chapters because I’m busy and have a hard time thinking of filler plot lol. Enjoy, please let me know what you think!
Prologue | Chapter 2
All of your best memories were with the twins.
Not like that was a hard thing to accomplish—pretty much all of your memories were with the twins.
The good memories, the bad memories, and all the ones in between. They were the biggest constant in your life and you felt so lucky to have them.
Sometimes you got emotional about it, and they teased you for it, but you wouldn’t have it any other way.
“H-Hey, why are ya crying?” Atsumu had asked one time at fifteen when the three of you sat outside of the 24-hour convenience store near your house at 2 in the morning, each of you holding your own popsicles you’d snuck out to get.
“I just love you guys so much,” you said with a sniffle, wiping your nose on the cuff of your sleeve.
Osamu grimaced, looking down at you. “Y-Ya don’t have to get all emotional about it. We’re kind of stuck with ya.”
You frowned, giving him a light punch in the shoulder. “Just say you love me too, dummy,” you huffed.
His eyebrows knitted together. “We love you,” he sighed before wrapping an arm around you to give you a side-hug.
Atsumu wrapped his arm around you as well and gave you a grin. “Yeah, but please don’t cry anymore. It’s kinda embarrassing,” he laughed.
“Oh, shut up,” you whined, though you felt comfort flood through you at the feeling of being sandwiched between your two best friends. “You know I get sentimental when I’m tired.”
“Doesn’t make it any less embarrassing,” Osamu mumbled, but a smile played on his lips.
You hummed and closed your eyes for a moment. “Well get used to it, you’re not getting rid of me.”
The twins were like your personal bodyguards. If someone messed with you, they messed with the Miya twins—and no one wanted to mess with the Miya twins. You first learned that when you were nine years old.
The air left your lungs, palms and knees scraping against the ground as you were pushed from the swing you’d been sitting on.
“You’re so lame!” one kid teased from behind you, shrill voice barely making its way to your ears as tears began to prick in your eyes.
“Yeah, where are your dumb friends? They must not like you if they aren’t even playing with you!” another said as the three kids who were picking on you moved to stand in front of where you still remained on your hands and knees, head hung in an attempt to hide the way you were crying.
Atsumu and Osamu had been punished for fighting during in class and the teacher made them stay inside for the first ten minutes of recess. You told them you’d wait for them by the swings; you didn’t really hang out with anyone else anyway. This group of kids didn’t like that though, telling you that the swings were their hangout spot during recess. You told them you’d leave after a couple minutes—you didn’t really want to just stand around and wait for the twins. What was the harm in swinging for a bit?
The harm was too great for the kids currently bullying you, apparently, and they decided to shove you off of the swings.
Your hands and knees burned from the scrapes you’d gotten, and you pushed your palms against your legs to try to make it stop stinging.
“Aww, are you crying?” the third kid laughed, and you looked up at them, face wet with tears.
“Oh my god, she is crying!”
A chorus of laughter sounded in front of you, making you cry even harder. Your face grew hot with embarrassment, tears leaving silvery streaks on your skin. And then suddenly, the figures of the three kids in front of you were shadowed as someone approached them from behind.
Two someones, in fact.
“Leave her alone,” Atsumu said, his voice causing a terror to run through the bullies in a way you didn’t think was possible for a nine-year-old.
The twins had a few bandages decorating their arms and faces, evidence of all the spats they got into with each other. But even after being kept in from recess they were already willing to fight again—just not with each other this time.
“You’re really pathetic,” Osamu continued, arms crossed over his chest as he gave the terrified kids an apathetic look.
“Yeah, get lost before I punch yer stupid face.” Atsumu stuck his tongue out, and somehow, the intimidation worked.
The bullies scurried off and Osamu helped pull you to your feet. “I’ll take ya to the nurse,” he offered, looking at the scrapes on your hands.
“And I’ll go beat them up,” Atsumu said, eyes still angry as he watched the kids run to the other side of the playground.
“No, it’s okay,” you sniffled, reaching up to wipe your eyes.
“Yeah, you’ll just get in trouble again, dummy,” Osamu reasoned with his twin.
Atsumu sighed and turned to you, shoulders slumping when he really took a good look at you. “’M sorry we weren’t here,” he said as the two of them started walking you back to the building so you could get your cuts cleaned up.
“‘S okay,” you said again.
“No it’s not! They’re dumb for picking on ya,” Atsumu argued. He let out an annoyed grunt when the three of you got inside. “Wish they’d get kept in from recess for being idiots…”
Being a family friend also meant that you got along with the twins’ parents too—especially their mom. She treated you as if you were her own daughter, and sometimes she joked that she wished you were because the twins were so hard to handle.
You were so close with them that sometimes you would go over to their house even when you knew the twins were at volleyball practice.
When you were twelve, she’d decided you were probably old enough to watch one of the shows she enjoyed, and so you started going over to their house after school to watch TV dramas with their mom while you waited for them to come home from practice.
“Y/N,” Atsumu whined one day as soon as he saw the two of you. He hadn’t even taken his shoes off and he was already complaining. This was the fourth day in a row they came home to find you watching television with their mom. “What’re ya doing? Yer supposed to be our friend!”
“Shut up,” Osamu mumbled, taking his shoes off and removing his jacket. “You’re so embarrassing.”
Atsumu frowned, eyes going wide as if he was pleading with you to come hang out with them instead.
“‘Tsumu, you just got home. We’re almost done with this episode, and then I’ll come hang out!” you reasoned with him.
He huffed, finally reaching down to take off his shoes. “Sometimes I feel like ya like her more than me,” he grumbled, earning him a smack on the back of his head from his brother.
“Keep up the attitude and she will start liking Mom more,” Osamu hissed.
You were always at their games. And when I say always, I mean always. You were the loudest member of the cheering section, and there were countless times when you didn’t even have the voice left to congratulate them on their victories.
One thing you never did, though, was boo them. They were your best friends—and you were close with the rest of the team too—so you never had the heart to boo them when they messed up.
Atsumu confronted you about it once when you were seventeen—they hadn’t even lost—after he’d had a tough game.
“Y/N,” he said, face stuck in a frown as he approached you.
You gave him a grin, wrapping your arms around him as you pulled him into a hug. “Congrats, ‘Tsumu!”
“Don’t congratulate me,” he hissed, stiffening in your hold.
You frowned and pulled away from him. “Why not? You won.”
“Because I sucked. You should have booed me.”
You rolled your eyes, waving a hand dismissively. “You’re so dramatic. Everyone messes up, ‘Tsumu. It’s not that big of a deal.”
“It was close! I could have cost us the match!” he argued.
Now it was your turn to frown at him. “So you botched a few serves, it’s not a big deal. Your sets were great. Besides, I’m not gonna boo my own team, Atsumu—” He grimaced at the sound of his full name. “—and I’m most certainly not going to boo you.”
“Losers don’t need applause.”
You scoffed. “You aren’t a loser! I swear sometimes you’re so hard on yourself for no reason. People have bad games. I’m not going to ridicule you for it.”
“You should!”
Your jaw clenched. You hated when he did this to himself.
“I deserve ta be booed, ta be yelled at, ta be told what a piece of trash I am because I almost screwed this up for us!”
“It’s not going to make you better, you dumbass!” you finally shouted, shoving his chest.
Atsumu stumbled backwards a few steps, heartrate increasing. He couldn’t tell whether it was from the adrenaline of the game, his disappointment in himself, or your actions. You’d never pushed him like that. Sure, you bickered and things of that nature, but this time you seemed genuinely angry.
“You’re one of the hardest working people I know and seeing you put yourself down like that when all you had was one bad set makes me want to punch you in the face!” Your heart was pounding, the sound deafening you as your hands clenched into fists at your sides. “I don’t give a shit about those people in the stands, they don’t really care about you. I’m your best friend! I’m not supposed to beat you down, I’m supposed to pick you back up!”
His mouth opened and closed a few times, words getting caught in his throat as he tried to gather his thoughts.
You pushed past him with a scowl. “I’m gonna go congratulate ‘Samu. Don’t talk to me until you’ve got your shit together.”
Osamu had been standing with Aran, Suna, and Kita by the entrance to the gym. They’d been chatting, but it had gotten cut short in favor of watching your interaction with the setter.
Osamu was in shock. He’d never seen you like that, which was saying something considering how long he’d known you, and it was kind of refreshing to see his brother get put in his place like that.
“That was kinda hot,” Suna said absentmindedly, eyebrows raised in amusement.
The gray-haired twin turned to glare at his friend. “Say that again and I’ll punch you.”
“Osamu,” Kita scolded.
“Sorry, Kita-san.”
Of course, with years and years of memories and friendship with the twins, you couldn’t help but think it was more than luck that brought you together. And even though you believed the three of you were fated to be together, as you got older something just felt different.
The summer before you started high school you had started to think that maybe you were fated to be more than just friends with Atsumu when feelings for him started to blossom. You tried to ignore them, far too shy and inexperienced in the ‘liking boys’ department to know how to deal with this new sensation.
You tried not to let it change your friendship with him, but there were times when you’d feel your face grow hot or your stomach flutter when you were around him.
At first, you didn’t like this feeling at all.
The twins had always been your comfort—your safe space. And now you were nervous to even be around Atsumu. But at the same time, all you wanted to do was be around him.
You hated it.
You hated the way you immediately perked up at the sound of them coming home when you should have been watching TV with their mom, now too distracted to even pay attention to the end of the show.
You hated the way you wanted to comfort Atsumu in a way that was so much more than friendly when he was beating himself up.
And you loathed the way you felt jealousy bubble in your veins at the thought of Atsumu liking someone else.
So you did your best to push the feelings away when you were around them.
But when you were alone, they all tumbled out, and you decided to take up journaling as an attempt to deal with the feelings. You felt embarrassed, as a teenage girl does, to have a journal filled with all of these thoughts, so whenever you were finished writing you hid it in your sock drawer lest one of the twins find it and tease you about it for weeks.
When you started high school and the twins joined the volleyball team, they were instant phenoms. And in turn, they garnered a lot of attention—especially from girls.
It upset you, if you were going to be honest with yourself. Not only because you couldn’t really hang out with your friends in the halls or during lunch without being interrupted by their gang of fan girls, but also because you despised the girls who flung themselves at Atsumu. It killed you to see them batting their long eyelashes and talking to your best friends with their cute voices, all while you sat to the side like some kind of unwanted piece of stale bread. And it especially killed you when Atsumu started returning their affections.
It scared you. It all scared you. The feelings, the girls, high school—you were terrified. You didn’t want to ruin things between the two—three—of you with your feelings, but the girls made you so insecure. So instead, you wrote in your journal.
You wrote down all of your feelings for three years.
You didn’t speak a word of them to anyone, no less the twins.
And there was a page you came back to almost every day, even though you had written it during your first year:
The odds of existing are slim,
so the odds of you and I existing at the same time
must be next to impossible,
and I think that’s beautiful.
Maybe the universe does work in my favor after all
because I got the chance to get to know you.
You stared at the page, not even realizing tears were forming in your eyes until one fell and landed on your hand that pressed down on the page. It was a habit to hold it open, but it wasn’t even necessary anymore—you’d opened your journal to this page enough that it stayed open on its own.
When you’d written it, it was a happy thought. But now, three years later, it didn’t feel so happy. Atsumu was getting busier and busier with volleyball, and that meant he only got better, and when he got better his fanbase grew.
You were starting to feel like a second choice.
Scratch that, you were starting to feel like a tenth, twentieth, fiftieth choice.
You craved the attention he gave those girls. You wanted him to grin at you like that. You wanted to be more than just his best friend.
But you felt like you were running out of time.
It was ironic, considering you believed the universe brought the three of you together with the intention of you being side by side forever.
Maybe, after all this time believing it, you were finally starting to realize that you were wrong.

You did expect some craziness from working in food services, but what you didn’t expect was to be bombarded with frequent tomfoolery from a bunch of attractive volleyball players during your shifts.
disclaimer: manga spoilers
A/N: Hey y’all! There’s gonna be quite a lot of dialogue in this chapter, but I hope it’s not too boring. I was really excited to write this chapter since Inarizaki is my favorite team :D Hope you enjoy!
Previous///Next
There was always something entrancing about the second half of the year when the green and gray streets transform into a multicolored wonderland as a response to the incoming shift of seasons. You admire the different shades of red, orange, and yellow that litter the ground that you’re walking on as you make your way to work. The only things going through your mind right now are serenity, peace, and-
“‘SAMU, YOU BASTARD!”
At the sudden voice, you almost trip on your own feet in surprise. Once you’re sure you won’t fall flat on your face, you look up and see two familiar twins right outside the front door of Onigiri Miya, clear irritation written on their faces.
“How could you say that?! Do you know how ridiculous you sound right now?” Atsumu yells at his brother while clenching his hands by his sides.
Osamu’s eyebrows are furrowed in distress. “I’m pretty sure I’m the one with common sense here. I’ve done what I can to convince you, but you just won’t listen to me!”
You start to worry now as you continue to watch the two glare at each other from where you’re standing a few feet away. You know it’s best not to interfere, but there’s a part of you that wants to stop them before things get out of hand. It seems like you don’t even have to make a decision as Atsumu’s eyes meet yours. “Hey, sweetheart! Come over here and tell this tasteless scrub that he’s wrong!”
“Who you calling a tasteless scrub, you uneducated swine!” Osamu crosses his arms in disdain but softens his gaze when his eyes land on your approaching figure.
“Hold up. What are you guys even talking about?” You try your best to keep your voice as relaxed as possible but still proceed with caution in case one of them were to blow up again in anger.
What you didn’t expect, however, were the next few words that came out of the blonde’s mouth. “The best Disney princess is obviously Rapunzel, but ‘Samu doesn’t agree!”
“You just like her ‘cause she’s blonde! Clearly, Belle is the superior princess!” The other twin spits back.
You pause for a moment to process the situation. That’s...not exactly what you expected when you first saw them arguing outside of the shop (and quite loudly too). A deep sigh leaves your lips as the two childish men in front of you continue to banter.
“Oh yeah?!” Atsumu suddenly directs his attention on you and places his hands on your shoulders for emphasis. “Sweetheart, who do you think is the best Disney princess?”
Already feeling an incoming headache, you just say the first thing that pops into your mind in hopes of stopping this madness. “Oh, uh...I don’t know. I think Mulan is pretty badass.”
The twins go silent as they contemplate your response for a brief minute. It seems like you gave a satisfactory answer because they both make eye contact with each other and nod their heads. Their strange twin telepathy is something you’ll never understand.
No longer having the patience, you just brush off Atsumu’s hands and use your spare key to open up the front entrance of the shop. The two men just follow you inside and the blonde is the first one to break the silence in a much calmer tone than before. “Okay, fair. But, I really do think-!”
Atsumu halts his footsteps as you and Osamu just glance at him confused. The blonde gasps dramatically as he stares at the new additions to the shop’s walls. “HEY! Why do you have their autographs on your wall?!”
Not wanting a part 2 to the previous fiasco, you just head over to the back room to put your belongings away and get yourself ready for work. Securing the cap on your head, you walk out of the room and stroll to your spot on the register. It seems like Atsumu is a lot more fired up than usual because he’s still arguing with his brother.
It took everything in Osamu to keep his voice at a normal level while responding to Atsumu’s pettiness. “They came over to eat one day and I thought it would look good for the shop.”
“Don’t you know that we’re ultimate rivals?! You can’t be siding with the enemy!”
“They’re your rivals, ‘Tsumu. Everyone’s technically considered a customer to me.”
“Traitor!”
You swear you saw puffs of smoke pop from Osamu’s ears from his frustration. You were about to place a hand on his shoulder in hopes to keep your boss from throwing something at his brother, but a smooth voice interrupted the tension in the room.
“Calm down, Atsumu.”
You and Osamu jumped in surprise, while Atsumu let out a startled yelp at the unexpected guest. The three of you turned toward the front entrance to see who showed up an hour before opening. Although you only heard one voice, three tall figures in casual clothing stand at the doorway. They step inside the building and you vaguely remember seeing their faces in a picture Osamu once showed you from high school.
The person in the middle of the group brushes away a couple strands of his gray hair with black tips while his other hand sits on top of the handle of a small suitcase. The one on the left has a built body with dark skin sporting a kind smile. The one on the right has a lanky body and long fingers that reach up to his face to cover a yawn on his bored expression.
If you remember correctly, Osamu had told you about some of his former teammates and the ones standing in front of you were Kita Shinsuke, Ojiro Aran, and Suna Rintarou.
The twins brighten in recognition and make their way over to the newcomers. “Kita-san! Aran-san!”
“I’m here too, you know.” Suna comments.
All of the guys greet one another in the middle of the room with smiles on their faces. You’re not really sure what to do since you’re the odd one out.
You stand off to the side behind the counter awkwardly, but you are interested in their little group dynamic. The Inarizaki alumni all hold completely different demeanors and postures, but one thing that they all share is that all of them are incomprehensibly attractive in their own way. Why are all of the former and current volleyball players that you’ve met so far like this?
Lost in your thoughts, you didn’t realize that you’ve been staring at Kita in particular for a couple minutes. He must have felt your eyes on him because he momentarily looks away from his current conversation to make direct eye contact with you. You let out a small squeak after getting caught staring, but it doesn’t seem like Kita is bothered at all.
“Ah, sorry about that. I didn’t mean to ignore you.” Kita leaves his group to walk over to where you are and this catches the attention of the other four males as well.
“It’s no problem! I wanted to give you guys room to catch up.” You lift up your hands to wave off his apology and give Kita a bright smile as you speak. “It’s finally nice to meet the oh-so-praiseworthy rice provider for the shop, Kita-san.”
Your reply elicits a soft laugh from the man’s mouth. “Nice to finally meet you too, (Surname)-san.”
“You know my name?” You ask, surprised.
“Aside from looking at your name tag, yes. I’ve heard some things about you from the twins,” Kita answers.
Your cheeks turn a bit pink in embarrassment because you completely forgot that you were wearing your name tag for work. Your embarrassment doesn’t last for long, however, when you quickly realize what Kita had just implied about the twins. You shoot an intimidating look at the two culprits and neither of them meet your gaze. “They talk about me?”
“Only good things. No worries.” Kita tries his best to reassure you that there hasn’t been any slander against you, but you still feel a bit insecure.
Knowing that feeling this way is probably unnecessary, you just resort to a little bit of teasing. “I don’t worry so much about Osamu-san. It’s the other one that needs to be kept in check.”
“Hey!” Atsumu’s head quickly turns to your direction at your very obvious accusation.
Suna snickers while ignoring his friend’s outburst. “She’s a smart one.”
“Hey!”
Aran chuckles in amusement and Osamu just smiles at his brother’s distress. You try to fake exasperation by placing a hand on your cheek and Kita’s smile falters as he catches something from the corner of his eye. The charm bracelet that you received from Osamu is secured to your wrist with the small onigiri charm shining under the fluorescent lights.
“Oh, so you’re the one…”
You look back at Kita in confusion. “The one what?”
Kita hesitates for a moment before simply shaking his head in dismissal with a knowing grin on his lips. “Ah, it’s nothing.”
You’re bewildered by his mysterious response, but it doesn’t look like he wants to talk about it anymore, so you just brush it off for now.
As everyone else continues their own conversations, Kita thinks back to a conversation he had a couple months back.
“The rice should be coming in a couple days, Osamu.”
“Sounds good, Kita-san.”
“Is there anything else you need?”
“Actually...I have a quick question.”
“What is it?”
“What would you...um...give to someone who just graduated that’s not so generic or meaningless?”
“...Are you asking for your coworker?”
“Scary! Are you sure you don’t read minds or something, Kita-san?”
“I don’t believe I can. But, to answer your previous question, if you want to give a gift that holds more meaning, I would say buy or make something that’s personal to both of you. It could be from a fond memory you share or a common interest. However, based on the positive things I’ve heard about her, she would probably appreciate anything you give her.”
“Hm…”
Kita is pulled out of his thoughts when he hears Osamu’s voice nearby. “I’ll get you guys the usual, right?”
The rest of the guys all nod their head and Aran makes the motion to take out his wallet. However, before he can do so, Osamu lifts up a hand to stop him. “No worries, Aran-san! All of this is on me!”
Atsumu’s ears perk up. “You’re not gonna make me pay for my food this time, ‘Samu?”
Kita looks towards Osamu and slightly tilts his head in confusion. “You make your brother pay for his food?”
“Always.” Osamu answers without hesitation and with one of the most deadpan expressions you’ve ever witnessed on him.
“I see.” Kita simply nods his head in understanding. “It would be detrimental to your business if you gave things out for free too much.”
Atsumu grabs onto his former captain’s arms in exasperation. “Kita-san!”
A quiet giggle leaves your mouth at the scene in front of you. It seems like the twins are a bit more competitive and bicker more often when their former teammates are involved. Seeing this side of Osamu amuses you since you’re more used to his laidback nature.
Eventually the brief comical moment calms down and Osamu begins to prepare all of the food. Kita and Atsumu seemed to be in their own world, so you decide to try and speak with the other two people in the room that you have yet to be acquainted with.
Suna and Aran seem to have been thinking the same thing because they are already walking up to the counter in your direction. Suna raises his right hand in greeting, while Aran gives you a polite smile before speaking, “You must be (Surname)-san. Apologies for taking so long to greet you.”
“No worries.“ You wave off the apology. “You guys were also teammates with the twins in high school right? The only thing I really know are your names. What were your positions?”
“I was a wing spiker. I’ve actually known the twins since we were in elementary school,” Aran replies.
You clap your hands together in realization. “You guys are childhood friends then! I’m surprised you haven’t come up in my conversations with them more.”
“Those two were always running around all over the place just to compete against each other, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t remember half of the things they experienced in school.” Aran lets out a deep sigh, but you couldn't detect any real annoyance.
If the counter wasn’t in the way, you definitely would’ve patted the man on the shoulder. “Well if you’re as patient and calm as you are now with their antics for all those years, then you definitely deserve the appreciation, Ojiro-san.”
“You deserve it just as much since you see at least one of them almost every day now.” Aran sends you another kind smile and you can’t help but mirror it.
Not wanting to leave out Suna from the conversation, you turn your head towards the male who is just listening with his hands shoved into his pockets. “What about you, Suna-san? What was your position?”
“Middle blocker. Although, I did work as a part-time witness to the twins’ stupidity.” The stoic male smirks and looks at you in the eye. “Seems like you’ve taken up that job?”
You burst out laughing. “I can’t really deny that. We should be compensated for all this work.”
Suddenly, you feel a heavy weight on your shoulder that catches you off guard. When you look up, Osamu’s elbow is leaning on your shoulder and there are pieces of rice stuck to his fingertips. He has one of his eyebrows raised in suspicion. “Hey, why do I get the feeling that you guys are talking behind our backs?”
Suna looks directly at Osamu with his usual expression. “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
Feeling a bit playful, you also answer with the same deadpan tone. “Yeah, we’re just bonding over some relatable stuff.”
Suna takes one of his hands out of his pockets and raises it up next to you. Without hesitation, you give him a high five while holding back your smile. Aran just chuckles at the unexpected tag team between you and his former teammate.
Before your boss could make any more comments, his phone dings from where it’s sitting on the counter between his work station and the register. Osamu seems briefly conflicted since his hands are covered in rice but quickly comes to a decision. “Hey, (Name)-san. You mind holding up my phone for me? I think it’s a message about a shipment for some ingredients we needed to restock.”
“Yeah, sure!” You pick up the phone and a picture of Onigiri Miya with a large ‘Grand Opening’ sign in front of the entrance illuminates the lock screen. “Oh, you have facial recognition. I’m gonna have to borrow your face for a bit, Osamu-san.”
Osamu leans down as you place the phone in front of him for a couple seconds, but nothing happens. You try to angle the screen differently and wait a little longer, but it’s still not unlocking. Across the counter, Atsumu watches the two of you struggle through a few more attempts before losing his patience. “Just put the phone up to my face. It’ll probably work.”
A bit curious to see if the phone will actually unlock for the other twin, you move your arm to where Atsumu’s waiting. You keep the phone up for a few moments, but there’s still no response.
The blonde just stares at his brother’s phone in disbelief. “What the hell? Why isn’t it working??”
“Wow, even my phone can tell who the uglier brother is.” Yup. Osamu’s definitely feistier today.
“WE LITERALLY HAVE THE SAME FACE.”
The twins look like they’re about to start another round of unnecessary bickering. From the side, Kita sighs at the idea of having to intervene in yet another argument. He opens his mouth to stop the madness, but you beat him to it. You shove Osamu’s phone into his face again and surprisingly it unlocks. “Alright, guys. You can shut up now. I got it to work.”
Both Atsumu and Osamu shut their mouths immediately. They still looked a bit irked at one another, but no longer have the will to fight. Kita stares at you with shock. He’s never seen anyone other than himself dissipate the twins’ bickering so quickly and you haven’t even known them for as long as he has. Even Aran gives up at some point. Perhaps you are a much more important presence than he realized.
Clicking on the message notification, you lift up your arm just enough so that both you and Osamu can look at the screen comfortably. The message consisted of a picture of a shipment with a list of items. The list is barely legible due to the small font, so the two of you have to lean in closer to the screen.
“The text is so small. Can you read anything?” You ask as you bring the phone closer.
Osamu squints and wipes one of his hands on a clean towel before placing it over your own to steady the phone. “Barely. Why did he send such a terrible picture?”
The close proximity and subtle touches between you and your boss do not go unnoticed. As you’re discussing the contents of the picture, Suna and Aran share a knowing look with each other.
After a couple minutes of trying to decipher everything in the message, you and Osamu have successfully written down a complete list of all the shipment contents on a napkin. Osamu pockets his phone and the napkin before turning to look at you. “Okay, I think everything’s all good. Thanks, (Name)-san.”
“No problem!” You rub your eyes from the slight strain and move back to where you were standing before while Osamu finishes up making the last of the group’s food. Suna and Aran just watch you both go back to whatever you were doing before as if your cheeks weren’t millimeters away from each other a few seconds ago. The two males make eye contact once again, but just shrug their shoulders.
“Food’s ready! Grab your onigiris and drinks. We can sit at the table for a bit.” Osamu announces to his friends. Your boss turns to you briefly as he starts going around the counter. “Wanna join?”
“No, that’s alright. You guys use this time to catch up. I can take care of setting up the shop on my own, so take your time.” You give him a reassuring smile and he returns a grateful one back.
While the guys chatted about their lives, you set up the chairs and checked each of the sauce bottles to make sure none of them were empty. About fifteen minutes went by and you now had a broom propped up against your shoulder after sweeping. On your way back, you pass by the table where everyone is still talking with one another.
“I am funny! There just wasn’t anyone competent enough to get the joke!” It seems like Atsumu was yet again becoming a victim to the endless teasing of his former teammates because his face is slightly flushed and he’s fidgeting with pent up frustration. In hopes to ease his heated face, Atsumu roughly starts refilling his cup with ice water with a tight grip on the glass.
Suna shakes his head. “I thought it was funnier when you almost passed out from being overheated from the Jackasuke suit.”
“What?!” Atsumu abruptly stands up from his chair and in his haste, he doesn't realize that he had also raised his cup just as quickly causing the water to splash onto the nearest thing which just so happened to be you. “Oh shi-! (Name)-chan!”
The front of your shirt is entirely soaked and water drips down from your face and the tips of your hair. You mentally thank your boss for making the uniforms black. Lucky for you, your pants are completely dry because your apron took all of the damage. Aran, who is the next person closest to you, takes the broom from your possession and hands you a couple napkins to at least dry your face, but it’s definitely not enough to make a dent in your drenched clothes.
Atsumu frets over you with a look of immense guilt in his eyes. “I’m so sorry, (Name)-chan! I-I didn’t mean to do that!”
“It’s...it’s okay. Just try not to lose your cool so easily next time.” You can’t really say you’re happy about your current predicament, but it wouldn’t do anyone any good if you lash out in anger. The running A/C is much more apparent now that it’s much easier to feel the circulating cold air and you start to shiver a bit.
Osamu catches your attention from the corner of your eye when he stands up from his seat. “You good, (Name)-san? You should probably go put on a jacket or something.”
“I didn’t bring a jacket or any extra clothes with me today.” You sigh at your misfortune at how something like this happens on the one day you don’t have your hoodie with you.
Osamu’s frown deepens at the growing unfortunate circumstances. “Ah, damn. We usually have extra shirts in the back, but I left them at home to wash.”
You dread at the thought of either working with a wet shirt or having to walk all the way back to your apartment to change while suffering through the chilly breezes. However, the universe must be taking pity on you when you hear another voice join in.
“(Surname)-san, I have some spare clothes in my suitcase.” Kita pats the suitcase that he had brought into the shop with him.
You know that the best and most efficient way to get out of your misery is to accept his offer, but you’re still reluctant. “Oh no! It’s okay! I wouldn’t want to cause any trouble for you.”
“I don’t mind. It wouldn’t do you any good to go around with wet clothing. You might catch a cold, especially since the weather is becoming cooler.” Kita immediately brushes off any concerns you may have. He zips open his suitcase and grabs a simple navy sweater from his pile of folded clothes. There’s a slight pause when he holds out the shirt to you before continuing the conversation, “It would mostly cause Osamu to be very distressed.”
There isn’t much room for arguing, so you slowly take the soft sweater from the older male’s arms and nod your head in understanding. “Yeah, I guess he would have to work twice as much if I’m not able to help out.”
Kita blinks at your oblivious rationale. “...right.”
You hear a hint of something in his tone but don’t dwell on it for too long because another blast of cold air hits your body causing you to shiver again. Muttering a quick thanks, you rush to the bathroom to change. After peeling off your uniform shirt and bundling it up with your apron, you wipe off any water that remains on your skin before slipping on the borrowed sweater. It’s much larger and warmer than you thought it would be. After gathering the wet pile of clothes, you head out of the bathroom in your new attire.
The table that everyone was sitting at is now completely cleared of any food and some of the guys are sitting at the counter while Osamu is washing all of the used dishes. Atsumu’s head is laying on the counter and still has distraught laced into his expression. He immediately stands up to apologize again when he hears you come out of the bathroom, but his words get caught in his throat when he sees you.
Kita’s sweater is definitely too big for your frame. The sweater reaches your mid thigh, but you’ve opted to fashionably tuck the front of it into your pants. The sleeves go past your hands only exposing your fingers and the collar reveals a sliver of your collarbone. The overall fit of the sweater creates an image that can make anyone stop and stare.
Atsumu’s ears redden at the sight in front of him and Osamu is frozen in front of the sink. Even Suna and Aran have briefly halted their conversation to stare silently. The only one who is visibly unaffected is Kita.
Kita decides to walk over to where you are and hands you an empty plastic bag. “You can place your wet clothes into the bag so it doesn’t get anything else wet. You can return the shirt to Osamu and he can give it to me before I head back home.”
“Ah, thanks! I’ll wash it tonight and give it to Osamu tomorrow when I come in for work.” You smile at him gratefully and do as he suggested. During the process, your sleeves roll down uncomfortably and you have to constantly pull at it so that it doesn’t get in the way.
Kita notices the way you are fidgeting and gives you an inquisitive look. “Are the sleeves bothering you?”
“Oh, um...just a bit, but it’s not too bad.” You reply.
The male just pulls the plastic bag away from your hands and puts it off to the side for the time being before holding out his own hands in front of you. “Here, let me help.”
You accept his assistance and hold out one of your arms to him. Kita calmly folds the sleeves to a proper length while you just watch quietly. Once he’s finished with one arm, he gently lifts the other and proceeds to fold the sleeve as well.
The rest of the guys were just watching silently. The entire scene is almost like it’s from some kind of shoujo anime. Atsumu swears there is even a sparkling background with multiple flowers to match the sweet moment. There’s a strange feeling bubbling inside Osamu’s chest, but he chooses to look away and continue washing the dishes. You and Kita looked really good together.
“Thanks again, Kita-san!” Once Kita finishes up the last sleeve, you smile at him once again. “I guess I was lucky that you decided to visit so suddenly today or I might’ve been in trouble.”
“You’re welcome.” Kita returns the smile. “We were all busy on the twins’ birthday last week, so it’s a good thing we rescheduled to today.”
“What.” You blink once. It takes a few seconds for you to process what the man in front of you had just said, but once it clicks, a wave of shock passes through your body. “What?!”
You scramble over to where Osamu is avoiding your gaze and grab onto his arm. “Why didn’t you tell me your birthday was last week?!”
“Oh uh… it never came up?” A bead of sweat runs down the side of your boss’ face.
Still enraged, you swerve your head towards the blonde twin and point an accusing finger at him. “And you! I would’ve expected you to be all over having the attention!”
Atsumu shrugs his shoulder in an uncharacteristically nonchalant way causing you to drop your arm in confusion. “Meh, I’m not really all that big on birthdays. I thought my brother would’ve told you.”
When you look back at Osamu, his hand is rubbing at his neck sheepishly. “It was your day off and you looked like you weren’t feeling well the day before, so I thought it’d be best if you rested.”
You’re not sure if you should feel touched that he noticed that you weren’t feeling so great last week or upset that he didn’t think to tell you about such a special day. Your boss has also been pretty busy lately due to work, so there is a part of you that is understanding of the situation. There isn’t really anything you can do about it now since it’s already too late, so you just sigh in defeat.
Kita decides to intervene before you get even more upset. “No worries, (Surname)-san. There’s always a next year for birthdays. If you wanted to spend time with him, I’m sure just asking will suffice.”
“Indeed. Osamu would definitely not mind making time for you, (Surname)-san.” Aran adds.
Atsumu seems to be feeling a bit left out and chimes in, “Wait, but what about me? It was my birthday too.”
“It’s not like Osamu knows how to do anything but play volleyball and work. Might as well take him out somewhere nice.” Suna mentions while ignoring Atsumu’s outburst for the nth time today.
“Woah, guys!” Osamu’s face flushes a bit from the teasing. You laugh at the group's antics and feel your frustration melt away.
Suddenly, a phone alarm goes off and Kita pulls out his phone to shut it off. “Well, we should get going now. We wouldn’t want to be in the way of your business, Osamu. We’ll see you tonight with the rest of our former teammates.”
“Yeah, I’ll see you guys later.” Osamu replies with a wave of his hand.
“I have to get to practice too, so I’ll walk out with all of you.” Atsumu walks towards the exit with his hands folded behind his head. Aran and Suna get up from their seats to get ready to go as well. The two say their goodbyes to both you and Osamu before stepping outside to catch up with Atsumu.
Kita is the last one out, but before he closes the door he gives you one last glance. “It was nice to meet you, (Surname)-san.”
“You too, Kita-san!” Your lips curve upwards at being able to have met yet another kind person at work. Kita finally closes the door and now it’s just you and Osamu left in the shop. After having such an eventful morning, the peace and quiet is pretty refreshing.
Osamu looks at you from the corner of his eye thoughtfully. His gaze then shifts down to where his former captain’s sweater rests on your figure and he feels a twinge of irritation but keeps his expression neutral. “Are you sure you don’t want to go home and change? You live pretty close by too.”
You think for a moment but eventually shake your head. “Hm...no it’s fine. I wouldn’t want to miss work just to change into another shirt. I think my extra uniform needs to be washed anyway. Is there something wrong?”
“...no.”
“Jealous that I talked to your friends more than you?”
“N-no!”
A giggle escapes your lips when you hear your boss stutter. “You know you’re my favorite onigiri chef, right?”
“I’m the only onigiri chef you know.” Osamu points out and you giggle even louder. The male can’t even be upset because your laughs are quite contagious. Although, he does make a mental note to bring one of his own sweaters to keep at the shop from now on.
Leftovers
The Miya household is a simple two bed apartment with a decent view of the suburbs around the area. Both Miya twins are considered residents of the complex, but Atsumu usually stays in the dorm available for MSBY players. Today, both twins are in the apartment.
“‘Samu, I swear this shirt makes me look fat-...?” Atsumu barges into his brother’s room without knocking but cuts off his words when he sees his brother intensely staring at a pile of hoodies scattered on his bed. “What are you doing?”
“I’m trying to figure out which hoodie I wanna keep at the shop.” Osamu responds distractedly.
Atsumu stares at him incredulously. “What? Just pick whatever. It’s not like you don’t go to work every day. Why does it matter? ”
Osamu pauses for a moment. “...for emergencies.”
“Whatever, man. I’m heading out to go buy some new volleyball shoes with Shoyo-kun.” The blonde shrugs off his brother’s strange behavior and chooses to just walk away since he needed to leave soon. He momentarily looks out the window and notices some dark clouds filling up the sky. “And, I’m taking your umbrella!”
Osamu doesn’t hear what Atsumu says and barely registers the slam of the front door because he’s too deep in thought. What was your favorite color again?
A/N: Ouch. I realized that if you were to actually follow the haikyuu timeline, some of this wouldn’t actually make sense. BUT I don’t care :D Also, not me indulging on some Kita action cause I am whipped for this man (but not as much as Osamu hehe)

As the next few days went by Tsukishima started spending less time with you as the days passed. You were honestly disappointed as you thought he would truly change, but things aren’t always as it seems.
You two went on cute dates the last couple days. Visiting different parks, going to nice cafes, and many other things. Your favorite moment had to be when the two of you decided to make dinner together.
Golden sun rays shined into your kitchen. Tsukishima and you were in the kitchen with aprons on with your ingredients spread out of the counter. You guys looked at everything you needed and made sure you had everything.
You only had two fishes that you chose, salmon and tuna. Although it is basic you can never go wrong with it. Tsukishima was cutting the fish while you grabbed the rice that just finished cooking. You grabbed the seaweed and the thing to roll the sushi.
Tsukishima finished cutting the fish and headed over to you with the cutting board with the two types of fishes on top of it. You placed the seaweed on top of the thing to roll it and grabbed some rice. You flattened it out on the seaweed and began grabbing pieces of the cut fish.
As you finished placing the fish on top you felt a presence behind you. You jumped a little in surprise but when you turned around it only happened to be Tsukishima. You giggled a bit at his towering body.
“Hi, can I help you?” you giggled.
He looked down at you and gave you a soft smile.
“I just wanna watch you roll it.”
You smiled before turning your eyes back to the unrolled sushi. You placed two hands at the end of the unrolled sushi. Before you were able to start rolling it two much larger hands were placed on top of yours. A light laugh escaped your mouth as you noticed how affectionate he was lately.
It felt like he was truly trying his best to change. This made your heart warm and butterflies appear in your stomach. Maybe things could work out in the end. You both had the brightest smiles while rolling the sushi together.
That’s a moment that will stay with you forever although it’s not much, it makes you remember the good things in life. It’s what helps you push through and make you see another day. Before having Tsukishima there you felt like you were lost. You felt like you lived in a world that had no color, that had no purpose.
Your past is something you’d love to forget about it. Although it makes you who you are to this day, it’s one of your most painful memories.
“You’re pathetic, did you know that?” A girl spat out.
“No wonder your dad left you.”
“If you own father didn’t want you, what makes you think anyone in this school wants you?”
You felt a sharp stinging pain on the right side of your cheek. Did she just slap you? Tears fell from your eyes even before you could blink. Why did they pick you? Was it because you would never tell anyone? What made you an easy target?
You went home that day thinking about all the things that led you up to this moment. You really felt like you couldn’t put up with this anymore. You stared at the mirror in front of you. There it was, you. Not the same you, not the one before all of this happened. The one that was covered in cuts and bruises. The one who only had pain in their eyes but hid it from everyone.
Could anything else go wrong? It’s not like you could get help. Everyone would hate you, they’d think you’re dramatic. You pulled up your sleeves to see the endless cuts, scabs and scars. You felt nothing. The only feeling there was pain.
Maybe it’s my time to leave tonight, you thought. That’s what you originally thought, but no. You’re giving it one last chance.
Tsukishima was always a boy you had admired. He was hardworking in school and volleyball. He didn’t put up with shit that people gave him. You wanted to be with him. You wanted to be like him. So this was the last chance. The next day you’re going to confess, and based on his response, you’ll know if it’s your time to leave or not.
-
It was always hard for you to stand up for yourself. You were always known as a pushover. Today was the day you were going to change that. You are going to break up with him, and you’re going to leave. No exceptions today, no excuses.
You had so much hope for the change that he promised. Good things always end, you guessed.
-
“Tsukishima, I’m leaving.” You said sternly.
“W-why?” He said quietly.
“You promised. You promised you’d changed. Changing for a week won’t cut it. It was your last chance. I love you so much, but I know what I deserve. So, I’m sorry but I’m leaving, and I’ll have all my stuff packed tonight so you can take the apartment.”
Tsukishima looked at you with watery eyes, before he even knew it the tears were falling down his face.
“Okay,” he whispered.
“Maybe in the future things can work out for us, but not now.”
This time he didn’t protest. He didn’t beg you to stay. It hurts you a little bit, but maybe things are easier. Maybe we can work out in the future.

wherefore art thou, romeo? | an osamu x f!reader one-shot
pairing: osamu miya x f!reader
word count: 6.1k words
contains: a boatload of crack, fluff if you squint, high school setting, more bickering than working on the actual play, mutual pining, best friends to lovers, brief mentions of the romeo and juliet with leonardo di caprio in it
summary: being best friends with the miya twins for years has prepared you for all of their shenanigans but even you’re taken by surprise when osamu, the guy you’ve been in love with for years, nominates you to play juliet for the class play and atsumu to play romeo
a/n: *squints at word count* okay this was supposed to be released in three chapters but i ended up writing all of it in one go and i didn’t know exactly where to separate the chapters so here it goes
the day started out fairly normal, if fairly normal meant that your two best friends were using your ruler to divide a candy bar accurately into two during homeroom while waiting for the teacher, could be called ‘fairly normal.’ but when those two friends were the miya twins, that’s how normal things got. the teacher arrived a bit later, announcing some reminders about the cultural festival dates, before the time was handed over to the Class President, a guy with glasses and straight black hair that you and your friends just called ‘Mr. President.’
“for the cultural festival, our class, due to majority votes, has decided to put on the play: ‘Romeo and Juliet,’“ Mr. President announced. judging from his cheeky smile, you could tell that he may have had a hand in those ‘majority votes.’
“aw, yuck. don’t tell me ya voted for that, y/n,” atsumu nudged you from behind your desk.
“why are you assuming its me?” you grumbled, batting his hand away.
“aw, no crepe cafe then,” osamu said sullenly beside you. your gaze was pulled to him, as it always was. now that the spring inter-high was over, osamu was mostly in his school uniform, not that you minded. his silver hair, that he got in trouble with the principal for, was pushed haphazardly to the side and gleamed in the sunlight.
“now,” Mr. President continued. “what we have to decide on right now is who gets which acting roles and who gets to do the technical jobs.”
“painting sets? painting sets?” atsumu poked you and osamu.
“hmm, i’d kind of like to work on the lights,” you hummed, already imagining yourself scrolling through your phone and switching on the spotlight once every few minutes. osamu was quiet and you knew he was probably thinking of painting sets too.
“now, is there anyone who’d like to volunteer for playing romeo?” Mr. President asked, surveying the class. “you can also nominate people and--”
osamu abruptly raised his hand up. your eyes widened, wondering if he was going to volunteer. atsumu had the same concern.
“whoa, whoa. don’t tell me yer thinkin’ of playing romeo?” atsumu laughed incredulously.
but that isn’t what osamu did. in full Dramatic Flair, osamu miya pointed at his twin and announced “i nominate miya atsumu to play romeo.”
the laughter in atsumu’s voice died as quickly as the class erupted into murmurs. based on the snatches of conversation you heard, atsumu was going to be wielding a sword and probably wearing tights.
“okay, that’s one nomination for atsumu to play romeo,” Mr. President nodded, writing atsumu’s name on the board. you stifled a giggle as you heard atsumu stand up in his seat behind you.
“wait! wait! i nominate ‘samu to play romeo!” atsumu exclaimed hurriedly. the reaction wasn’t as loud as before and osamu flashed his twin a smug grin.
“i’ll make sure to get a nice, bright spotlight on you,” you smiled cheekily at him.
“so, we have atsumu-san nominated to play romeo and--”
“i’m not done,” osamu interrupted. “i also nominate y/n to play juliet.”
if atsumu reacted at a snail’s pace, yours was quite similar to how ketchup fell out of a bottle: none at first, before coming out all at once. within that length of time you spent staring into the void, Mr. President already wrote down your name on the blackboard and proceeded with the rest of the nominations (there weren’t any). the class voted, and you just barely felt someone pat you on the back to congratulate you for the role.
it was right when the decision over the roles was over when you turned slowly towards osamu, who had the audacity to flash a peace sign at you, and whisper ‘what have you done?’
...
“I CAN’T BELIEVE YA NOMINATED US TO PLAY ROMEO AND JULIET!” you and atsumu practically screamed at osamu during lunch break and for the rest of the day until you got to the miya twins’ house, where you spent most of your time, and cracked open the script that Mr. President handed out.
“sheesh, that was hours ago. get over it already,” osamu said, not looking up from the book he was reading: Beginner Techniques in Set Design. you didn’t even think he was reading, just mocking you and atsumu about the fact that he got the awesome job of painting sets.
“it was hours ago but atsumu and i are stuck with rehearsals for weeks!” you complained.
“not only that, but we’d have ta read shit and memorize shit,” atsumu seethed. “and we know that y/n sucks at that!”
“hey! i bet i could do better than you!”
“i don’t think ya can!”
osamu watched the battle from the top of his book, smiling to himself as you and atsumu quickly got into one of your fights that distracted you from the main reason behind the fight: osamu himself. ‘they’re still just like kids,’ he thought, watching you proceed to trap atsumu in a headlock.
the three of you had been the best of friends since grade school when you pushed atsumu off a jungle gym and osamu laughed and high-fived you. it was when the three of you were eating breakfast after a sleepover in your first year of high school, when you said that atsumu only had two brain cells and that ‘one was a skater boy, the other said see you later boy’ and osamu laughed so hard he got milk coming out of his house, that he realized he just might be in love with you.
“so, why didn’t you nominate yourself to play romeo?” suna asked him the next day while they were in the middle of stapling felt stars on a piece of dark blue fabric. like osamu, he was also lucky enough to be put in set design. “i mean, if you like her so much.”
“because i don’t want to play romeo,” osamu said as-a-matter-of-factly. “and i think making ‘tsumu do it is hilarious.”
“you really do have a one-track mind,” suna hummed and turned around to where atsumu and y/n were already busy working on the scene where romeo and juliet meet.
“ugh i have to kiss her hand?”
“well, do you want to kiss my foot?”
“i’d rather kick ya in the face!”
“you know, i feel like this on its own would make a great play,” suna said, watching the scene.
“a romeo and juliet where the lovers actually hate each other but their opposing families desperately want to push them into an arranged marriage. sounds pretty neat,” osamu mused.
“okay, why don’t you two take a break, collect yourselves, and then we’ll come back in ten,” Mr. President sighed. at that, you and atsumu quickly stopped quarreling and stalked off in different directions. you headed straight for osamu and suna.
“sometimes i can’t tell who’s the more insufferable one between you two,” you narrowed your eyes at osamu who had the audacity (the only thing he never seemed to run out of) to smile innocently.
“it’s one of life’s greatest mysteries. like, whether the chicken or the egg came first,” suna added.
“just give it a few weeks. atsumu will soon embrace his fate and you’ll be an amazing juliet,” osamu patted the top of your head. if you weren’t so annoyed with him you would have felt the butterflies in your stomach. except now you just wanted to bite his hand off.
“you know what, i’m going to kita’s later,” you muttered, pulling your phone out to text kita shinsuke, aka your adoptive mother.
“hmm? why?” osamu asked.
“because he’s the only sane person i know. plus he’ll help me out with my lines,” you explained, sighing with relief when you got a prompt reply from kita.
“oh, well i was planning to buy some convenience store snacks that i saw on sale for when i do homework later,” osamu said, trying not to sound disappointed.
“maybe next time,” you smiled apologetically. “but in the meantime, maybe get your twin over there to memorize his and not fuck up.” osamu looked up at his brother who was holding the script up a few inches from his face.
“you’re right,” osamu agreed. “but, it would also be funny to edit out a few words here and there.” you returned his cheeky grin.
“you read my mind.”
...
“kitaaa what if it means something that osamu chose to make me and atsumu romeo and juliet,” you groaned, face planted on the coffee table in kita’s living room while he peeled tangerines. “like, what if he realized i actually liked him for this long and this is his way of friend-zoning me?”
“osamu’s the kind of person who’d tell you right away if he doesn’t have the same feelings for you,” kita shook his head.
“that means he’s going to reject me soon!” you sat up, planting your hands on the table.”
“y/n, you’re doing it again,” kita gently reminded. “think of it this way, maybe he nominated you to play juliet because he wants to see you as juliet. but he’s not fully ready for the commitment so he nominated atsumu to be romeo.”
“or he just wants to mess with us, which is probably the case,” you chuckled half-heartedly. “maybe i’ll just believe that.”
“or, think of it this way,” kita placed a peeled tangerine into your hand, like the mom friend that he was. “you could use the opportunity to be the best juliet ever, someone that osamu can barely tear his eyes away from.”
“and i can show up atsumu at the same time!” you grinned at the idea. kita sighed.
“you know, i feel like your sheer desire to just beat atsumu at everything may be a hindrance but go on.”
“yeah, yeah, you lost me at ‘beat atsumu at everything’,” you sang as you cracked open your script. “now help me. i have to memorize all this by tomorrow.”
...
“i think yer all wondering why i’ve gathered ya here today,” atsumu began.
“we’re... in the volleyball clubroom,” aran spoke slowly.
“which is where we always hang out,” suna added. atsumu raised an eyebrow and a hand to silence them, which sometimes worked.
“i’ve gathered ya guys to form the all-important, top-secret team with only one goal in mind!” atsumu paused for dramatic effect, which suna purposely ruined by coughing. “we’re gonna to get myself out of playing romeo for the class play.”
“let me guess, whatever it takes?” aran asked, his arms folded.
“whatever it takes!”
and atsumu took that completely seriously. the next day, he gathered aran and suna to the clubroom again to execute his master plan, version 1: operation casting call.
“get it? cause, ya know, i’m part of a cast, and i’ll be showing up in a cast,” atsumu grinned proudly, showing off the roll of bandages that he bought yesterday at a drugstore.
“okay, first of all: lame pun,” aran sighed. “secondly, that’s not a cast you’re just wrapping your foot in bandages and not encasing it in plaster which i think was what you were originally going for. lastly, do you realize just how many holes your plan has?”
“oh yeah? like what?” atsumu crossed his arms and scoffed.
“like the fact that your twin brother would know whether or not you were injured yesterday,” suna brought up.
“...i’ll jus’ say that i sprained my ankle jus’ now,” atsumu said.
“as if he’s going to believe you,” suna snorted.
“i’m just saying, please ditch this plan before you embarrass yourself,” aran sighed. atsumu felt his face heat up with embarrassment.
“sh-shut up! this plan is gonna work and i’m not gonna play fuckin’ romeo for another day!” atsumu snapped. “now help bind my foot.”
aran and suna looked at each other. “you’re taking a video of what’s happening later,” aran said while suna nodded.
“i hate ya guys,” atsumu crossed his arms.
a few minutes later, his foot was all wrapped up thanks to aran and atsumu was propped up on suna as he hobbled into the classroom. with full dramatic flair that he never seemed to run out of, atsumu slid open the door to the classroom.
“Mr. President! sorry to say this but i sprained my ankle!” he cried. everyone inside turned to look at him with you raising an eyebrow at the dubious looking ‘sprained ankle.’
“you know, if you spoke like that all the time you’d make a great romeo,” his twin quickly piped up from near the door where he was busy painting a tree.
“shut up ‘samu, ya traitor,” atsumu muttered at him. Mr. President had walked closer and inspected the bound foot.
“osamu, is this true?” he asked.
“w-wha? don’t ya believe me?” atsumu splattered. beside him, suna had already brought out his phone. mad, atsumu pushed himself off his ‘friend’ and tapped his ‘sprained’ foot on the ground. ‘it hurts! see! ow!” atsumu lied.
quick as a flash, osamu kicked atsumu’s good foot, causing him to hop on his ‘sprained’ foot.
“fuck! ‘samu!” he yelled.
“well, i guess there’s nothing to worry about,” Mr. President smiled and clapped his hands together. “and atsumu-san, that was a good attempt at acting. i hope you channel that passion into rehearsal today.”
atsumu could do nothing else but mumble. “yeah, fine...”
...
“i can’t believe atsumu even thought that his plan would work,” you laughed, recounting the events of earlier that day. you were sprawled across the wooden floor backstage the theater your class was going to use for the cultural festival. osamu was right beside you, painting one of the backdrops for the play.
“i really do think all the brainpower went to me sometimes,” osamu mused as he carefully painted the sky around the white clouds. there was a look of pure concentration on his face that made you think that maybe osamu was quite excited to do the set design for the play. ‘it’s always the things that you don’t really expect him to get into,’ you wondered as you watched him.
“hey, is this shade of blue a bit too... blue?” he asked, holding the paintbrush to you. you scooted over next to him, grateful for the excuse to be nearer osamu.
“it could use a bit more white to look more like the sky,” you answered.
“hmm, can you pass me that can of white from over there?”
“sure, let me just-- hey!”
a splatter of blue paint landed on your nose as osamu swiped his paint brush over it. once again, he had the audacity to snicker as you grabbed the paint brush from him to splatter blue paint over his hair.
“you are so dead, miya osamu,” you narrowed your eyes and grinned at him as you picked up the tube of red paint from beside your knees.
“wait, wait y/n,” osamu laughed and held up his hands in surrender. “that’s red paint right there.”
“you didn’t seem to have a problem with brushing light blue paint on my nose!” you exclaimed pointing at your face.
“well, it is a bit of a good look because it brings out your eyes--” he was cut off by you squirting red paint right at his face. slowly, osamu raised a hand to touch the paint on his cheek. “you know, i kind of deserve that.”
“you definitely do,” you stared down at him with both hands on your hips before bursting out laughing. osamu blinked up at you before joining in the laughter. even with your blue nose, you still looked absolutely radiant. just like how you were earlier during rehearsals as you did your best performance of juliet. you captured everyone’s attention and even atsumu actually made an effort to get to your level.
“come on,” osamu chuckled, standing up and ruffling your hair with the hand that still had red paint on it. “let’s go wash up.”
the feeling of him ruffling your hair was such an old and familiar gesture that you couldn’t even remember when osamu started doing that. but you could clearly remember everything else you did when you were kids. watching cartoons and mixing different kinds of cereal in the morning, trying to climb up the drainpipes into each other’s rooms, the endless cycle of calling each other names, crying from too much teasing, and saying sorry only to forget two minutes later.
you watched, head cocked to the side as osamu washed the paint from his face while you dried your hair. he didn’t realize just how much soap he was getting in his eyes and the cute, childishness of it made you giggle.
“what?” osamu looked, or rather, turned his head to you.
“your eyes are going to burn at this rate,” you snickered, stepping over to him and placing your hands under the faucet before gently washing the soap from osamu’s face. you didn’t even realize what you were doing until you were doing it and by then, it was too late. osamu didn’t seem to mind, not even when you used the towel around his neck to pat his face dry.
“there, now you just have a big red stain on your nose,” you laughed nervously as osamu opened his eyes.
“at least it goes with my hair,” osamu snickered, tossing his towel over your head before ruffling it. you felt your face heat up and smiled awkwardly at him in response.
“is this your idea of trying to dry my hair?”
“i think it’s kind of working.”
“it’s not working,” you laughed, taking the towel from him. “but thanks.” you felt your throat tighten with the words you wanted but were too afraid to say. you didn’t know when you started falling for one of your best friends and maybe it was thanks to all the shoujo manga you’ve read for years, but you knew that the best friend and the main character rarely ever got together.
luckily, it was osamu who said something. “you know, you were pretty good earlier as juliet. i bet ‘tsumu was threatened,” he laughed, lifting his bag and starting to walk towards the school exit. you jogged to catch up to him.
“no thanks to you though,” you snorted.
“hey, it’s all for the sake of making memories,”
“we could have made memories while painting sets,” you huffed. “you know, like more paint fights.” osamu flashed a sideways smile at you.
“we’d have those regardless. i wanted to see you as juliet.”
you could feel your heart beating loudly in your ears as you forced yourself to think of a million other reasons as to why osamu would say that, only to focus on the single, most probable one that could mean everything you’ve ever dreamed of coming true. “osamu, i--”
“i can’t believe ya left me!” atsumu exclaimed loudly behind you two, causing you to jump. you turned around just as he slung his arms around both of you and his twin.
“i can’t believe you thought pretending to sprain your ankle would work,” osamu muttered, looking slightly annoyed at his twin.
“shut up! i can’t believe ya’d break my cover! my own brother!”
“i think you two are way past that already,” you snickered, slightly annoyed at atsumu’s sudden appearance but unable to admit that you didn’t miss having him around either.
‘if i never get to confess to osamu, i’ll still have this,’ you thought, with a satisfied smile on your face.
...
“no offense, atsumu, but i think you should just move on from the fact that your plan to get yourself out of playing romeo just isn’t going to work,” suna said, lounging across his friend’s bed and uploading the video he took of atsumu’s ‘master plan’ failing. “just accept your fate, like what romeo did.” atsumu stopped pacing and regarded suna with a raised eyebrow.
“ya read the play?”
“i read the summary,” suna answered. “at this rate, everyone knows you’re going to be faking some accident.” atsumu made no response and suna realized he needed just one more push. “also, you’re basically losing to y/n.”
that got atsumu’s attention. “since when did she wanna be juliet anyway?” he muttered.
just then, the door to their room flew open and in walked a very excited aran carrying a relic from the past, an actual DVD in its case, and a bag from the convenience store.
“yer late,” atsumu scowled at him.
“yeah, and you didn’t listen to what i said and looked really dumb earlier,” aran said, much to atsumu’s embarrassment. “anyway, i think i have a solution to your woes,” he grinned, presenting the DVD to the two of them.
“what the fuck am i gonna do with movie ‘romeo and juliet?’“ atsumu frowned.
“it’s not just any romeo and juliet movie, it’s the romeo and juliet movie!” aran said enthusiastically. “starring leonardo di caprio!”
“who now?”
“he’s the guy who didn’t win an oscar for years until the bear movie,” suna explained.
“ooooohhh.”
“you uncultured shits,” aran sighed. “anyway, atsumu, just accept your fate--”
“that’s what i’ve been trying to tell him!”
“... and open your eyes to how awesome it is to play romeo!” aran finished. atsumu looked from the DVD in his friend’s hands, to suna on his bed, and to the bag of convenience store snacks, before sighing and nodding.
“if i decide it’s shit ten minutes in, we’re dropping the movie and yer all gonna tell me i’m right.”
but he was wrong, oh so wrong.
just like every middle-aged mom or english literature university student who watched Romeo + Juliet, atsumu was pulled in by leonardo di caprio’s sincere, expressive eyes. he practically swooned at the scene where romeo and juliet met from different sides of the fish tank to that iconic pool kiss, and by the end of the movie, atsumu almost teared up. he tried to hold back his emotions, in the hopes of not looking lame in front of his friends, only to find aran practically sobbing and suna clutching his knees to his chest.
“that was... really fucking beautiful,” atsumu cursed as the credits rolled.
“do you understand now? what it means to play romeo?” aran put a hand on his shoulder.
“do it for leo di caprio, atsumu,” suna added. atsumu sniffed and nodded his head eagerly.
“i will, i’ll do it for leo.”
...
it was a normal day at school, if normal meant you were wearing a blanket wrapped around your waist to make you ‘feel as if you were in costume’ and mixing vending machine coffee and vending machine chocolate milk in styrofoam cups with your best friend who also happened to be the guy you were in love with. that was as normal as thing got when you were best friends with the miya twins.
and that only meant that seeing atsumu come in for rehearsals, with a determined spark in his eyes, and recite every line to utter perfection that you knew william shakespeare himself would be proud of, was just pushing the boundaries of ‘normal.’
that only meant you had to be on your A-game too and before you knew it, you and atsumu had put on your best performance yet. your undying competitiveness and atsumu’s devotion to leonardo di caprio had gone a long way. all throughout that, osamu had a ‘cat-who-just-ate-the-canary’ smile on his face as he watched from the props area.
“you look like you’re going to say ‘all according to keikaku’ at any time,” suna observed.
“oh, i am saying it in my head,” osamu said, watching you and atsumu onstage. he had hoped for two outcomes: either you were both comically terrible at the play, or that you were slightly mediocre. but a part in his mind knew you would find a way to surprise him. you always did, after all.
yours and atsumu’s performance got everybody in class even more motivated about the play. osamu ended up in a million meetings with the fellow set designers, even learning how to paint trees to look as life-like as possible. although being busy wasn’t enough to distract him from looking at you, especially when dress rehearsals began and you were wearing the most stunning dress that the costume department worked on. meanwhile, atsumu pretty much rehearsed, ate, and slept with his prop sword.
finally, the big day of the cultural festival came around. despite the fact that you utterly loathed having to play juliet at first, you couldn’t help but feel proud at how far you’ve come.
“hey, maybe i should just go to acting school or something,” you joked, sitting beside osamu and smoothing your dress over your legs which dangled over the side of the stage.
“you’ll run home crying after you hear any sort of criticism,” osamu snorted.
“mean! i deal with criticism really well!” you pouted. osamu raised an eyebrow at you and you rolled your eyes. “you know i was joking. the fact that i haven’t received any acceptance letters from the universities i applied to is kind of making me crazy.”
“so, is the fact that you’re playing a fourteen year-old girl who has to hide her love from her entire family before later killing herself a good way of escaping?” osamu asked.
“yeah, that and watching atsumu’s surprising transformation,” you snickered, turning around to watch atsumu and suna horsing around onstage. or rather, it was just suna from one end of the stage tossing chocolate chips at atsumu who was attempting to catch them with his mouth.
“i asked suna and aran about what changed but their lips are tightly sealed,” osamu shrugged. “i like to think that he hit his head somewhere.”
“well, he’s going to hit his head some time during the day at the rate he’s going right now,” you said, watching atsumu laugh and choke at the chocolate in his mouth. it was funny at first, until you noticed that atsumu kept on coughing.
“osamu,” you quickly tapped his twin. osamu turned around and immediately rushed over to his brother who was now turning a bright shade of red.
“oh my god, were there peanuts in that chocolate?” you asked. atsumu let out a gasp and nodded his head.
“i’ll go get his meds,” osamu quickly jogged off only to be replaced by a very concerned Mr. President. “someone get him some water!”
“i never thought atsumu-san was allergic to nuts. is it serious?” he asked, handing you his water bottle which you opened and quickly gave to atsumu who was now sitting down on the floor.
“well, it’s mostly rashes and an itchy throat but as long as he takes his medicine, he’ll be fine,” you shook your head.
two allergy tablets, an apology from suna, and a long explanation later, atsumu was lying down in the nurse’s office with the swelling noticeably reduced. “unfortunately, he’d have to sit out the rest of the play so that the reaction completely subsides,” the nurse told you, osamu, and Mr. President. you sighed and regarded atsumu with hands on your hips.
“you thought they were chocolate-covered raisins, didn’t you?”
atsumu didn’t say anything except: “i’m sorry leo di caprio.”
“this is the absolute worst time for this to happen,” Mr. President sighed as he addressed your classmates backstage. “there’s only thirty minutes before showtime and our romeo is out of commission. anyone have any bright ideas?”
“does anyone else here vaguely know atsumu’s lines?” you asked around. “someone who read the script?” instead, you were met with silence. as much as you wanted for some miracle to happen and for the show to go on because you genuinely did want to play juliet, putting up a half-assed play with one of the two main characters gone wasn’t going to look good either.
you sucked in a deep breath, preparing yourself to make the call, but osamu, who had noticed your expression earlier, stepped forward. you looked at him with wide eyes and just caught him glance at you before addressing mr. president.
“i can step in for romeo.”
“osamu...?” you asked.
“i haven’t really read the script but i’ve heard atsumu rehearsing by himself often enough to pick up a few lines,” osamu rubbed the back of his head, already feeling nervous.
“also, twin-sense,” suna piped up. “you know, your psychic connection between twins?”
osamu nodded his head slowly. “yes, that too.”
“alright, alright,” mr. president nodded his head. “well, i guess that’s better than nothing and osamu can fit into atsumu’s costume too. if you can, use these thirty minutes to read as much of the script as possible.”
“got it,” osamu nodded. and with that, everyone resumed preparations and you were pulled into the dressing room to get your hair and make-up done. when you emerged, osamu was sitting on the floor against the far side of the backstage, bent over a copy of the script and muttering in concentration.
“hey,” you greeted, sitting down beside him. he was already dressed in his costume: a white, long-sleeved shirt with golden buttons and some tassels on the shoulders. his hair was also combed back with a few strands falling across his forehead.
“god, i can’t believe atsumu memorized all this shit,” osamu shook his head and looked up at you only to stop short. he had seen you about a million times in your juliet costume but with the make-up and your hair arranged so elegantly, you looked absolutely breath-taking.
“something wrong?”
“i... i’m just panicking about having to play romeo all of a sudden,” he blinked.
“i know. scary, isn’t it?” you nodded. “i... you didn’t have to though. i’m pretty sure everyone was ready to throw in the towel.”
“and waste all my hard work painting sets?” osamu raised an eyebrow at you. “no way.” you tossed your head back and laughed.
“well, if you put it that way...” you nodded and smiled bravely. “the show will be fine. if you forget a line, just improvise. the most important thing is channeling the emotion.”
“i think i can do that,” osamu smiled and reached a hand out to you. “to the best show ever?”
you grinned and shook his hand. “to the best show ever.”
...
the show was a complete disaster. as much as osamu did try to recite atsumu’s lines completely from memory, it was as if everyone was thrown off their game throughout the entire play. cues for special effects were forgotten (someone accidentally turned on a smoke machine during the first scene), props were misplaced (the actor for Tybalt was using a footlong hotdog against osamu’s prop sword), and there were more than a few times when someone missed their lines. at one point, you ended up reciting Team Rocket’s iconic spiel after the line ‘a rose by any other name is just as sweet.’ but, despite everything being a shitshow, it still ended up being overall entertaining. the audience laughed through most of the obvious fails and that caused the actors to loosen up just a bit.
and it was osamu who ended up spearheading the comedic aspect of your ‘romeo and juliet’ play. from his dry, deadpan delivery of the very emotional lines, to his small inserts and side-comments about the play itself. you even had to stop yourself from laughing at times. but if you and atsumu were amazing at playing the scripted ‘romeo and juliet’, you and osamu were complete naturals when it came to improvising.
“i don’t know if this is a success by conventional definitions,” Mr. President addressed everyone backstage as soon as the play was over. “but... we sure did make everyone out there laugh.”
“and i consider that a win!” atsumu cheered beside you. he was looking much better, still with a bit of rashes though and his voice kind of heavy from the medicine. “kind of sad that i didn’t get to play romeo though,” he whispered at you.
“that’s alright. i channeled you in spirit,” osamu patted his twin’s shoulder.
“like hell ya did! i couldn’t believe ya used the dagger to kill yerself at the end,” atsumu argued.
“right?? i had to be all ‘oh romeo, you must have forgotten to use the poison you brought in your pocket!’” you recalled.
“i see dagger, i use dagger,” osamu reasoned. “wait, that’s ‘Macbeth’ isn’t it?”
“in a nutshell,” you shrugged.
“ugh, i’ve had enough of nuts for a day, don’t even mention it,” atsumu groaned, pushing away from the two of you and wandering off to the snack table that your classmates prepared.
“damn, i had more puns up my sleeve,” you sighed, watching him leave.
“you’ll find a time to use them, don’t worry,” osamu reassured you. “in the meantime... do you want to, get out of here first? explore the rest of the cultural festival?” you felt your face flush but nodded nonetheless.
“i’m sure no one will notice the main characters of their cast go missing,” you grinned. “let’s get out of here, romeo.”
when osamu meant ‘let’s check out the cultural festival’, he really meant buying a bunch of snacks from the stalls set up all around the school. but then again, that’s what he did all the time. soon enough, the two of you were sitting on the rooftop with your prized horde.
“thank god i don’t have some weirdass nut allergy like tsumu. that’s definitely evidence that i got the stronger genes,” osamu said, biting into a crepe he just bought. “also the fact that he didn’t check that chocolate-covered nuts packet.”
“i still feel sorry for him. he worked really hard to play romeo well,” you sighed.
“hey, i tried to play my part seriously. well... sometimes.”
“you did nail the whole ‘yearning for my love juliet’ part right,” you grinned, remembering the surprise at seeing the tenderness and longing on osamu’s face as he recited romeo’s lines about being in love with juliet. ‘well, that’s something for me to daydream about for the rest of my life you,’ you thought.
that was until osamu said “well, it’s good practice for when i actually confess to someone.”
confess to someone.
‘does that mean, all this time? he’s liked someone?’ you felt your stomach drop. you’ve never known osamu to be expressive when it came to people he had feelings for. were you just ignoring all the signs? was--
“it’s you, idiot,” osamu sighed.
“wait, what?” you looked at him with wide eyes. osamu sighed again and ran a hand through his hair.
“you know, i was thinking of a more suave way to say this but you looked like how you did earlier when you were supposed to be engaged to tybalt,” he chuckled. “so, i put two and two together for the first time. you’re the one i like, y/n.”
it was the moment you’ve been waiting for for so long, and yet the only thing you could come up with was “haha, cool.”
in response, osamu stared at you long and hard before taking another bite out of his crepe. “i think your brain is fried,” he muttered through a mouthful of crepe.”
“hold on, hold on,” you held a finger up, finally coming back to your senses. “you had a crush on me and also the audacity to make me juliet and have your twin brother as romeo?”
“i thought you’d be really cool as juliet but i didn’t want to go through the work of being romeo,” osamu said, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. “obviously it backfired but--”
“that’s called karma, osamu,” you pointed an accusing finger at him. “if you think i’m going to let you off easy i’m--”
you were cut off by osamu’s lips meeting yours and the taste of whipped cream and strawberry on your tongue. your brain short-circuited, trying to think of a way to describe this situation other than ‘haha, cool’ again. osamu, sensing your brain waves, pulled you even closer with a hand on your cheek.
“are you going to let me off now?” he raised an eyebrow at you after you parted. you smirked.
“i’ll have to think about it.”
“yeah?” osamu mumbled, his smirk matching yours. “what else do i need to do?” you leaned forward before taking a bite out of the crepe in his hands. you chewed while grinning at the surprised look on osamu’s face.
“now we’re even.”

Exchange - Miya Atsumu & Osamu SMAU
ROUTE: OSAMU
Crybaby
smau masterlist / masterlist
previous
A/N : I AM SO SORRY FOR NOT UPDATING - there was just too much happening in my life. well now the route split from this chapter on. Atsumu's will be up in a few hours
Synopsis: After coming back to Tokyo, Y/N still cut of the contact to each twin. Countless FaceTime Interventions with her best friends and her roommates, she finally made up her mind...
The bell rings and Osamu looks up.
There you are, beautiful as ever. Your hands, tightly wrapped around your bag, eyes fixed on the ground, too shy to look directly in his eyes.
“Hello and welcome - how can I help you?” Osamu’s voice shakes a bit.
“Uhm... I’d like two of the weeks special?”
“Anything else?”
“A hug?”
“Sorry but I’d like to keep things professional.”
“Oh..” you whisper and look back on the ground. Some girls who heard the two of you, started grinning and looking at you - probably making fun.
“Good thing my 2 minutes break just started.” he smirks and walks around the counter.
Your eyes lit up and you drop your bag, jumping into his extended arms.
Your hands grab his shirt and you nuzzle your face in his chest. Osamu rests his head on top of yours while his hands run up and down your back as he pulls you even closer.
“Finally.” He mumbles and you sigh in response.
“My crybaby.” You tease and look up at him.
“Pfft. I wasn’t even crying.” He rolls his eyes.
“Uhhhuuuu if it helps you sleep at night.” You laugh and he pulls away crossing his arms over his chest.
“Sooo when’s my onigiri ready?” You smile brightly.
“After I finished my break - which is now.” He looks at you with half closed eyes, “coffee?”
“Yes please.” You say and bend down, grabbing your bad again.
“Okay, so 2 onigiri and two coffees - that makes... 1000 Yen.“ he smiles and tilts his head to the right.
“Okay wow - thought I’d get a special price.” You huff and sit down on the counter, “Also why do I pay for YOUR coffee too?”
“Oh I believe you own me way more than a coffee.”
“Wow that hurts.” You say and dramatically put your hand right over your heart.
“I mean .. you could pay me back later after I close the shop?” He suggests and smirks.
“Oh... wow so I’ll either give you my money or I’m forced to spend more time with you?” You repeat and tap your chin, “mhhhh.... let me find my purse real quick.”
“Wow ok, I see y/n is back.” He laughs and placed the onigiri in front of you.
“Missed me?” You smirk and wiggle your brows.
“Oh yes I did.” He smiles softly at you and leans over to give you a quick kiss.
“Stop being soft.” You whine and take a bite off the onigiri, “Ok no, be whatever you want as long as I get those every day.” You mumble and take another bite.
“Wow ok - back at using me again I see.” He playfully rolls his eyes and starts laughing as soon as he sees you looking up at him with a shocked expression.
“That’s not funny.” You pout.
“Well you can show me how bad you feel about it later? With Mhh a massage?” He side eyes you.
“Ok wow I see I’m only being used too?” You drop your food and look at him with big eyes.
“Two can play this game angel.” He smiles.
Rolling your eyes you laugh.
"Don’t make me regret letting you back in my life again.“ He says.
"I won’t - I promise.“ You say sincerely.
"Good, because we’re not together - you still got to convince me angel.“ He smirks.
"Pff… who said you won’t have some convincing to do? I chose you over your brother. I never said I won’t leave you for the next man that walks in the shop now?“ You sass.
As if it was meant to be, the door opens.
Osamu bursts out laughing and you turn around.
“Have fun, helping him with his diapers.“ He whispers, “Hello and Welcome, Sir!“ He greets the probably eighty year old man.

☾ the witching hour
☾ decision: hallway
☾ warnings: f!reader, alcohol mention, drug mention, sfw shirtlessness
☾ word count: 2.4k
“What the hell?” you grumble, running headfirst into a bare chest. “God, get a shirt.”
Your eyes widen. “Shut up.” Your eyes graze the body in front of you, sizing up the half-naked firefighter. There’s no hiding your smile as you tease, “Didn’t know you had it in you, Atsumu.”
Atsumu leans in, hooking an arm around your neck. You turn your head, cheek squishing against his smooth chest. “No fuckin’ way,” he murmurs against you, “I didn’t know you were coming tonight.”
You look up at him, chin resting in place of your cheek. “You didn’t tell me you were invited.” Your lower lip juts out, and you think for a split second that he might’ve missed you as much as you missed him, but you let the thought go as quickly as it came.
“I forgot you knew Bo and them!” he says defensively, arm still around you like he isn’t planning on letting you go any time soon. “We could’ve coordinated.”
Your heart skips a beat at the thought. You stick your tongue out, eyes squeezing shut. “Maybe next year,” you try, hoping it’ll get you the reaction you want.
He laughs and you giggle, satisfied with his response as you get dragged to the counter. “Have you had a drink yet?”
You shake your head. “Not yet,” you mumble, glancing around from his hold on you. “I just kinda got here.”
He stops the two of you in front of the row of bottles, reaching for the tequila bottle. “Shots?”
Your eyes widen as you frown. “Tequila… ” You gag, the strong scent taking you back to barely a month ago to a friend’s birthday party. Atsumu had been there too - drawing your hair back and handing you water as your head hung over a toilet at almost 4 am.
“Fine,” he teases, swallowing down his smile. “Vodka? I’ll mix it real well for you. ‘Samu taught me how the other day.” He puffs his chest out a little and you fight the laugh bubbling up.
You heave a sigh dramatically, rolling your eyes as you reach for a cup. “Fill ‘er up, sir.”
He snaps his red suspenders loosely hung over his shoulders, taking your cup with a grin on his lips. You watch as he pours a good amount of vodka in your glass before mixing in just a little Sprite.
Just as you're about to argue with him, a voice calls from behind you.
“No way! Look who it is.”
Your jaw drops as you catch sight of your club member. “No way, what’re you doing here?” you asked excitedly.
“I could ask you the same,” he says, tipping his chin at Atsumu. “Not surprised to see the both of you here though, not gonna lie.”
The heat rushes to your cheeks, and it’s taking every ounce of energy in you not to gauge Atsumu’s reaction. Instead, you beam at your junior, leaning towards him. “I almost wasn’t gonna show.”
“Well why not?” Atsumu interjects, looking at you offendedly.
“What do you mean, ‘why not?’” you ask back. “You didn’t even tell me about it!”
“I was gonna text you eventually!”
“Oh were you now?” you taunt, shaking your head at him and lifting your nose up. “Highly unlikely.”
He presses his index finger against your forehead, poking you away from him. “Shut up.”
“I don’t think I will,” you bite back, grabbing the bottle of Sprite. “There’s no way ‘Samu taught you how to make this, by the way. He’d make me a much better drink.”
Atsumu leans against the counter. “There’s not a single person in this room that would treat you better than I would.”
You clamp your lips together, your heart stuttering and almost stopping (or so you swore). The club member clears his throat, reaching for an empty cup. “I’ll catch the two of you guys at the meeting on Monday?”
Atsumu salutes him with two fingers as you nod quickly, closing the Sprite bottle. As soon as he’s out of sight, you glare at Atsumu.
“Look what you did,” you huff, setting the cup against your lips. “You literally drove that poor kid away.”
“That was all you, sweetheart,” he says, pouring himself a shot. “He’ll be fine. Come on, do a shot with me.”
He hands you the tiny red cup - you didn’t even know they make solo cups this small - and you reach for it reluctantly, as if it’s pure poison. You clink your cups together, and just as you down your shot, an arm swings around your neck.
“Well, well, well! Nice to see you guys together, doing shots without the rest of us.”
Atsumu chokes on his drink. “What the hell, Bo? You tryna kill me?”
“Maybe, just ‘cause you haven’t Venmo’d anyone yet.”
You look at Bokuto for a split second, and he stares back at the two of you, dead serious. A minute later he breaks out into a grin, slapping the two of you on the back. “I’m kidding, lovebirds! Have all the drinks you want! It’s on me!”
You struggle to steady yourself, already feeling the alcohol rushing through your blood. He laughs heartily and stalks off to find another friend to bother. You giggle, eyes trailing after him.
“Man, he’s so… ” Atsumu sighs, “so much.” He looks at you for a moment, eyes scanning your face. You feel hot under his gaze, tugging at your collar like you’re suffocating just standing there. “You’re already tipsy?”
You shake your head quickly. “Another.” You’re eager to start feeling it already, maybe so it’d make seeing all of these other people more bearable. You hold your cup out expectantly, and he nods, filling his up right after. You knock the cups together and down its contents in record time, the liquid searing your throat.
The two of you hiss in unison, scrunching your faces.
You glance over at Atsumu, who’s taking a sip from his toxic cocktail he made for you not seconds ago. You stick your neck out at him. “You’re chasing a shot with … more alcohol?”
“It’s all Sprite anyways,” he mutters nonchalantly, glancing over his shoulder towards the living room. You follow his line of sight for a moment - who’s he looking at? - before looking back at him. His eyes light up as he swings his arm around you again. You feel it flex around your neck and you fight the shiver crawling up your spine.
“I see Suna and them, let’s go say hi.”
Your stomach flips. It’s not like you don’t know his friends or anything - in fact, you know them well. With his arm around you though … you’re not too sure what to make of it.
Your eyes flit up to him singing along, “She fill my mind up with ideas,” holding his cup at arm’s length as he tips his chin at his friends. He glances down and smiles at you, pressing you closer to him. Any closer and you think you might choke, so you wiggle a little under his hold.
“Cast a spell on him tonight?” Atsumu’s twin asks as the two of you near the couch.
You grin loosely, shifting your attention to him as Atsumu talks to Suna. You’re trying to shift towards Osamu but Atsumu’s arm around you is like a vice, keeping you glued to his hip. Your head’s starting to feel heavy with the Malibu rushing straight up to it, sweat beginning to prickle at your hairline.
“If I were him,” you tease, “I would wanna spend all night with me too.”
Atsumu looks at you quickly, as if he’d been listening the whole time. “Shouldn’t it be the other way around?”
You pretend to think about it for a moment, giggles spilling from your lips.
“There she goes,” Suna sighs, a slight smile toying on his lips. “How many shots did you guys even take?”
Atsumu’s brows knit together. “Maybe four? I don’t remember.”
You start to laugh for absolutely no reason, your limbs beginning to feel like jelly. Your head lolls back against Atsumu’s arm and he rolls his lips under his teeth, doing absolutely nothing to hide his smile.
“Oh man, you guys,” you start to drawl, unsure of what you were even wanting to say. “You guys are so funny, you know that?” You turn and blink up at Atsumu, your lips spreading into a smile that starts to hurt your cheeks. “And you,” you begin, “you’re so - ”
“Alright,” Atsumu says quickly, eyes shifting back to his friends as he quickly swings you around. “Let’s go get some water and some air, hm?”
You nod, your hair catching against the crook of his arm as you stumble to keep up with him. He finally lets go of your shoulders and reaches for your hand instead, quickly grabbing you a glass of water with his other hand.
He sets it up to your lips and you drink like you’ve spent the past year dehydrated. You swipe at your lips quickly, mumbling a quiet, “Thanks.”
He smiles as he pulls you out into the hall and you inhale deeply, leaning against the wall right outside of the apartment. Your nose scrunches when you smell a distinct mix of curry and weed, wondering if it would’ve been better to suffer with a blend of cheap, strong cologne and ethanol instead. He leans against the wall next to you, sighing heavily as he laces his fingers through yours.
“Can we go outside for a bit?” you squeak out. Even the hall starts to feel stuffy with him right next to you. Are you going to remember this in the morning? Better yet, are the two of you never going to talk about whatever the hell this is ever again?
You sigh at the thought as he peels himself off the wall. His brows pinch together and you think about how it’s absolutely endearing, before visibly shaking your head, desperate to pull yourself together.
“Are you okay?” he asks, concerned. “Do you need more water?”
You nod slowly, swallowing roughly. Your eyes flit down to your interlocked hands and you tug on him a bit, waiting for him to lead the way to the elevators.
He slips his other hand in his pocket, steps slow and tentative to match your pace as you round the corner and past the double doors. He reaches for the down button and you wait in silence, your heart hammering against your ribcage. Your entire body feels heavy and you want to lean against him, so as soon as the elevator doors open and close, you seize the opportunity to let your head fall to his shoulder again.
You watch the goosebumps start to creep up his skin. “Aren’t you cold?” you mumble.
When he stills for a moment, you look up at him. You figure the bright red dusting his cheeks is just the alcohol, and you shift your attention back to the numbers dropping from 6 to 4.
The elevator shakes and your eyes go wide. You lift your head quickly, letting go of his hand to grip his bicep. It shakes once again and you fall against him, before it stops moving altogether, the lights shutting off.
“What’s going on?” he asks quickly, looking up at the ceiling. When the lights don’t come back on for a minute, when it doesn’t even move for a minute, he presses the emergency signal button.
The situation is instantly sobering, especially when there’s no one on the other end of the receiver.
“Hello?” He presses the red button again before looking back at you. “Are you okay?”
You nod quickly. “Are you?” You’re no longer struggling to get the words out, but it wouldn’t be a complete lie that you weren’t feeling at least a little buzzed still.
He hums, brows furrowing as he presses the button again. “Goddamn it,” he grumbles, pulling out his phone. It lights up in the darkness and you squint painfully as you watch him carefully.
“Hey ‘Samu,” he says, pressing it up against his ear. “Yeah, we’re stuck in the elevator. Can you get somebody? Like get Bo to call maintenance or something?”
You shiver as the air slips through the doors of the elevator and rub your hands over your arms, stepping back to lean against the wall. He joins your side like he had in the hallway, slipping his phone into his back pocket.
“We should’ve just stayed in that stinky hallway,” you grumble.
He snorts. “It was almost 3 am anyways. They would’ve started kicking everybody out.”
You hum as you sigh deeply, your shoulders beginning to feel heavy again. You wonder if he’s feeling just as nervous as you are at this moment.
It’s almost like he can read your mind when he hesitantly murmurs, “I really hope you’re not going to forget any of this tomorrow morning,” as if you could, “but I’ve liked you for a while now.”
Your heart crawls its way up your throat. “I,” you stutter, “um, me too.” You shift awkwardly, looking up at him the best you can in the darkness.
He breathes out a relieved laugh. “You’re kidding. What was it, the firefighter costume? I know I look good tonight - ”
You groan, pressing your palm flat against his temple and pushing him away from you. “God, I hate you.”
His hands reach for your hips greedily and you shiver again. “Not what you said a minute ago,” he teases, pulling you towards him.
“Oh, shut up,” you mumble under your breath, shifting your eyes away from him. You can barely make out his outline in the darkness but you can hear him shuffle just a little closer towards you.
His fingers find his way to your chin, lifting it slightly. Your pulse rings in your ears as you feel his breath fan your lips, his warmth drawing you in.
The elevator shakes and the lights turn back on. Atsumu stares at you with wide eyes as you jump in your spot, startled with the sudden movement. The doors open on the fourth floor, and familiar group of farm animals stare at you tiredly.
Osamu looks back and forth between the two of you, sighing heavily.
“Do us all a favor and take the stairs next time.”
Pick a different room: > Go to the closed bedroom. > Go to the open bedroom. > Go to the balcony. > Go to the kitchen. > Go to the bathroom. > Go to the living room.
