Sun clan AU character directory
[this directory will be edited and updated as time goes on and the story progresses]

THE ELDERS: older generation, live on the deeper chambers of the Shuilian Mansion and enjoy the respect and honors by all the beings in Huaguoshan.
An-kong Tudigong (Grandpa Earth God)
Earth God of Huaguoshan, appears mostly as a moss-green furred orangutan but has many forms. Reclusive and reticent, but loves dearly all the beings living on his mountain. Adoptive father of Wukong.
A-ma Longan (Grandma Dragon-Eye)
Matriarch of a monkey troop, Francois Langur. Dry yet caring, often serves as a protector of the monkeys of the mountain and a middleman between spirits and mortal creatures. Her duties were mostly taken over by Wukong after he became king. Adoptive mother of Wukong.
I-bo Lanye (Auntie Orchid-leaves)
Granddaughter of Longan, and second in command, Silvery Lutung. Fond and overbearing, takes care of the troop whenever Longan leaves to maintain the peace. Biological mother of Jinju.
Shandanmao (Coral lily cat), also called Au-bo Shanhu (Stepmom Coral)
An asian golden cat who once attempted to eat Longan, and was made to atone for her attack on the mountain's Tudipo by serving as her bodyguard.
Wukong, also called Shihou (Stone Monkey) and Xiaoshi (Little pebble)
King of Huaguoshan. Rules over several troops that live on the mountain and shelter in the Water-Curtain Cave, and helps to keep the peace and balance among the creatures and demons.
THE FOUR STALWART MARSHALS: The Monkey King's trusted second-in-commands in the kingdom's hierarchy, and Wukong's closest confidants.
Liu Jinju (Golden-Orange)
Ma Yuehua (Moon-Flower)
Ba Hongteng (Red-vine)
Beng Maqaw (Mountain-pepper)
THE GOLDEN CAPTAINS: Trusted soldiers directly under the command of the Stalwart Marshals, but especially under Jinju/Marshal Liu
Songzhen (Pine-needles)
Second-oldest of the group, a laidback Ebony Javan Langur.
Suanguo (Sour-fruit)
The youngest and grumpiest of the bunch, a red-shanked douc.
EXTENDED FAMILY: Members of the sworn brothers' kingdoms who end up joining Huaguoshan in some manner.
Erwangzi Xiangjing (Second Prince Fine-Fragrance), also known as Prince Rougui (Cinnamon)
Wukong's mate and trusted friend, Cat Ba langur. One of the rescued monkeys from the Monstrous King of Havoc's lair, trusted advisor and cousin-in-law of Yurong Wang (Golden Snub-nosed Monkey King). Charming, eloquent and wise, but wears his heart right on his sleeve. After the two kings build an alliance, Xiangjing and Wukong become quite fond of each other, and after some failed courting attempts, Wukong accepts Xiangjing's affections.
Rinrin, also called Xiaohuo (Little fire)
Ranked sentry and scout, Rhesus Macaque demon. Once part of Niu Mowang's kingdom, she sought to earn further rank and merit by learning exorcism techniques to dispel minor demons who'd dwell on the edges of the mountains. She became emotionally attached to a human demon hunter, and when she left the mountain in shame, said human followed her. She earned the friendship of Wukong swiftly, which also earned her a spot in his court despite displeasing the Bull Demon.
Xiaojie Duan
Skilled demon hunter, human. While she's accomplished in exorcising and conquering demons and spirits, her true goal was to find someone she loved to settle down and raise a family with. What luck, that said person turned out to be a demon monkey in disguise! Not one to back down from her affections, she followed after Rinrin and together they settled in Huaguoshan.
THE SEVEN PRINCELINGS: Wukong's children by order of age.
Wumiao (Witch-sprout)
Adopted first daughter, fairy crane demon. Eternally youthful and ethereally beautiful lady. Often bears a feathered fan in her hand and a pinewood sword at her waist. Gentle and demure, adores her father and siblings. Head priestess of the Huaguoshan Daoist temple, and protectress of the Heavenly gate there.
Bailian (White-face)
The largest of the quintuplets, Bailian has snow-white pale skin no matter the season or weather, and fur like clouds at dusk. Despite being the firstborn son and the only one able to walk on clouds and water, Bailian has frail health and a sickly disposition, and thus seldom interacts with the world at large. His father and siblings tend to be overprotective due to this, much to his dismay.
Liangwei (Two-tails)
The second daughter, Liangwei has a head of golden fur and two prehensile tails. She has a cunning mind and a sharp tongue, always quick to reply and twist people into knots with her words. She enjoys entertaining guests and kindred with masterful poetry and rhymes, as much as others enjoy hearing her. Her eyesight is quite poor, and she often relies on Sanyan and her tails to help her find her way around.
Sanyan (Three-eyes)
Second-born son, with a somber and dry temperament. Though his appearance seems at first not to stand out against his more visibly magical siblings, Sanyan possesses a third eye often hidden in his fur when closed. It can see the true nature of all things, though what he knows he seldom shares. Sanyan is selectively mute, and communicates through sign language or by borrowing Liangwei's sharp tongue when she's around.
Shuashua (Playful):
Third son among the five, and by far the most energetic. Most well known as a never-still blur, Shuashua is nimble and covered in colorful stripes of fur and has a snub nose. He's known for never sleeping or ever seeming to rest at all, and spending most of his time with some activity or another. Not the sharpest tool in shed, but his bright and hard-working disposition more than makes up for it.
Si'er (Four-ears)
Third daughter, and by all measures the runt of the quintuplets. She has a calm and sweet disposition, but her particularity of having four calf-like ears and sensitive hearing often tends to put off the others of her family and kingdom. Reincarnation of [redacted], aware of past life. Deeply devoted daughter and sister, tries her best to right the wrongs of the past. Has terrible tinnitus and migraines that turns her physically monstruous. Keeper of the sealed temple of [redacted].
Danxia (Cinnabar Cloud)
Adopted fourth son, human. An orphan left in Wumiao's temple. Despite growing up surrounded by demons, immortals, and fairies, the boy had no contempt for his peers, instead striving to learn as much as he could to keep up with his siblings.
THE KING'S DISCIPLES: newcomers to Huaguoshan after the fire, brought in thanks to the pilgrimage west.
Xiaoyu (little fish), Congcong (verdant), Jiazao (hearth)
Three female macaques Wukong rescued from being stable monkeys, and have stuck to the group to cater to the artifacts and run minor errands. Trained in combat by Wukong, and later joined the mountain kingdom as warrior nuns and established a Buddhist temple.

Diary Post 3 [Thursday August 3, 2000)
(Read Post 2 first. It's the last one I posted before this one. Story under the cut.)
Once the band got to the mall parking lot, which was inside in one of those grimy buildings, they seemed to argue with each other about the best place in the lot to set up until the first boy that gave me the flier yesterday spotted me and yelled.
"HEY, I REMEMBER, YOU GOT A FLIER. YOU CAME!!!"
I kind of locked up for a bit, but nodded. Took a breath. One step at a time to approach the group.
When I was close enough, he grinned and turned to the others. "See? We have at least one fan!"
Both the others and I just kind of remained quiet until he took over again.
"I haven't introduced myself yet, right? How rude of me. While, I'm Eddie, and it ain't short for nothing. And don't call me Ed. Or Double D. There's too many Eds or Edds at my school and it gets confusing."
"The one in the preppy outfit and tie's Davey. His mom takes the whole 'dress as if you're at your dream job' thing way too seriously, and this knucklehead goes along with it. Also he's my best friend so I'm allowed to call him a knucklehead."
Davey kind of looked up and gave a shy wave. Eddie moved on.
"The short one's Kitty-"
"HEY, I'm perfectly average for my age! You guys are just freakishly tall!"
"Don't get your tail in a twist. He designed the logo. And the girl behind him's Grizabella, but call her Grizz."
Grizz beamed at me. She was probably the tallest in the group and wore a giant kitty sweater. "My mom likes the Cats musical. Could be much worse. If I was born a boy I'd had been called Dementer".
My middle school did Cats one year. My sister just did piano and didn't perform. I was cast as an extra but I didn't mind because I didn't have to sing and the costume was actually comfier than it looks.
Eddie continued upon seeing I wasn't going to speak.
"So, yeah, we're the band. Grizz is our main singer, Davey does drums because he also does drums for marching band, and though it's totally different the skills transfer, Kitty is our lead guitarist and I do keyboard. Though I can't bring my keyboard out here so I brought a xylophone. Got a request?"
Nothing came to mind. My throat was dry and my chest was tight. The sun shone through one part of the parking lot that seemed way too bright. My ears were ringing.
Kitty glared at Eddie. "You scared him, asshat. Let's just do the setlist first. Ba Baa Black Sheep to warm up, then 'I Want It That Way'. Easy. Alright everyone, let's get going!"
So I just watched them as they struggled through. I'd taken music lessons before and I could tell when they stuffed up (mostly as Davey'd wince or Kitty'd glare at Eddie), but I closed my eyes and ignored the errors and focused on their energy and confidence. The dynamics in the group. How it reminded so badly of Before.
Back when the biggest problems was being a little out of practice.
Back when screwing up once would send a nauseous feeling and drag you down and remind you that you never wanted this, that you missed all those cartoons to barely improve, that you were letting yourself and your parents and your friends and her down-
I need to stop. Part 4 when I calm down.

► BIOGRAPHY
TW; Religion mention, funeral mention
It was raining when Adrienne was born. Maybe that was the first tell of the path she would be walking. Or, maybe it was the intention of her given name; Adrienne: dark woman or dark waters. There was some odd fascination with the darker things in life. Growing up attending more funerals than weddings, can anyone really blame her on that impact? Though, her nickname was Jynx due to the chaos that would spiral in her presence. For instance, her grandmother's ashes going missing when they were addressed to her apartment, or traveling all the way to California just for a once in a lifetime storm to be passing through and the festival being cancelled, or every color she calls for Roulette being the wrong one and her friend then going into the negatives with funds. Though she was labeled as an outcast and was seen as the black sheep in the family because of this, she still had something about her that drew people in. She had a great group of friends, and her fair share of experimental relationships. In short: she didn't miss anything, but she wouldn't have cared if she did. Her aunt was the one who taught her about spirituality after Adrienne had a paranormal experience at the age of 5. Whilst being in a Catholic household, Adrienne and her aunt would often sneak in order to practice their own eclectic belief. Magic, tarot cards, seances, you name it - Adrienne has dabbled in it. What no one was expecting was for her to make a career move out of it. It started in high school, she helped assist her teacher in their paranormal investigation group. It was through this teacher that she learned about anomalies and the role of the paranormal in anthropology. Her job as an investigator was just the groundwork for her BA in Parapsychology with a minor in Religious Studies at Stockton Univeristy, where she studied the connections of the paranormal and demons with the human psyche. She then went on to gain her MA in Magick and Occult Science with a specialization in Women and Minority Studies where she learned more about the occult across various religions and cultures as well as witchcraft and the impact and power women have within interaction, at Salem State University. At this point in her career, she can be seen as an expert in the occult as well as a demonologist. She actually works alongside various religious institutions, is still a researcher for a paranormal investigation team, and is also hosts a podcast about horror movies, the paranormal and the occult.
► PERSONALITY (DEEP DIVE)
Adrienne is one of those people who can attract and attract and attract, but still feel alone underneath the surface. She can be sarcastic and condescending if someone asks a question she deems as 'stupid'. She's known to bully as her type of flirting. She's actually not online, and prefers it that way. She's clever and witty and goes on passion-dump sprees about her line of work and conspiracies pretty often, or about her research or podcast. She loves people who have a sense of humor and can dish it back out to her. Adrienne used to not like being seen as a Jynx, but now she is sorta indifferent. She just knows something bad or weird is bound to happen when she's around, and it's just within her chaotic state of being. She used to be deathly afraid of the dark, mostly because she didn't know what was in it. It's still a fear, but she works through it due to her career. Adrienne comes across as intimidating and mean cause of her resting bitch face. This is partly true; seeing that she does bring hell to people and her wrath can be intense. But, if you're on her good side you have a very loyal and fun friend in your corner.

I love your goop family au so much! Do you have some cute headcannons about it you haven’t been able to share yet? I’d love to hear them. If not, that’s totally fine too.
hmmmmmmm stuff I haven't shared yet... let's see:
Already mentioned, but everyone's got a "Rose-Assigned-Moniker" - Ethan's is Da/Dada (changes to Papa when Heisenberg enters the scene), Leon's is La, Chris is Baba, Wesker is Ba/Wa (depending), and Heisenberg eventually becomes Da/Dada (and she switches to Papa for Ethan)
When she gets older though, the only thing that really sticks is calling Ethan Papa. Everyone else gets the "Dad" treatment (occasionally the other nicknames come back to help differentiate) and even just their names (none mind though)
Everyone except Chris can purr. Ethan's is kinda rough sounding, Wesker's is deep and rumbly, and Leon's mixed with a chittering sound
Wesker stops using so much hair product and his hair sort of grows out and everyone cannot stop running their hands through it because it's soft. At first he just allowed Chris to do it (and only rarely) but as he got more comfortable he just lets the others do it too (not Heisenberg though)
Chris is the biggest pushover in existence when it comes to his family. He denies them almost nothing and spoils the hell out of all of them. Rose gets whatever toy she wants. Ethan, Wesker, and Leon can offhandedly mention something and the next day Chris comes home with it. He's also the most physical; he never denies cuddles and is always touching one of his partners in some way (unless they don't want to be, in which he gives them whatever space they need for however long they need it)
Though there are separate rooms in their house (one being Rose's nursery and the other being the "guest bedroom" that also serves as a second bedroom for anyone that feels like sleeping alone or for the group to split off into pairs for whatever reason) everyone just piles onto the massive master bedroom bed. Chris is in the middle, Wesker's usually off to his left, Ethan and Leon curled up together on his right. When Heisenberg comes in he's also on the right side, putting Ethan between himself and Leon
Wesker always monitors Leon's cooking and between him and Ethan they help the man finally learn how to properly cook
Sherry and Jake are the best older siblings to Rose. They absolutely adore her and she them. Jake lets her win at whatever game they play and she and Sherry love to do each other's hair
Jake and Wesker do wind up on better terms as time goes on, but Jake still doesn't consider Wesker his father. Leon though, Leon becomes his dad. He does not hear the end of it from him (or Sherry. Or anyone) when he accidentally slips and calls him Dad
Favorite family activity is sitting outside in the sun together. Like a bunch of cats sunbathing
Heisenberg crafts toys for Rose all the time. He also ends up making Ethan prosthetic fingers, and Wesker an arm (should he ever need it)
Mia and Ethan are still very good friends. They've both healed significantly since RE8 and have finally come to an understanding of their separate traumas from Dulvey and Romania
Can't really think of anything else off the top of my head rn but that's what I got!

Ha Long Bay and Cat Ba, Vietnam
Day 171 – Ha Long Bay and Overnight on Junk Boat
I met my tour group in the morning to board a bus to Ha Long Bay. My friends Kevin and Liane had visited Vietnam a few years earlier and had connected me with a tour group that they highly recommended, complete with one night on a junk boat, and one night on Monkey Island just off Cat Ba. It was very clear from the get go that our bus and tour was one of many heading to the iconic Ha Long Bay – a huge tourist attraction in the area and UNESCO world heritage site. As we drove east out of the city, we passed through a vast countryside of rice paddies in a long procession of other tour buses.
Located a two-and-a-half-hour drive east of Hanoi, Ha Long Bay is an area of over 600 square miles that has thousands of limestone monolith islands, rising up from the turquoise waters of the bay. The name Ha Long means “descending dragon” in Vietnamese, and it was easy to see why once we arrived – the towering green islands poking up from the Beibu Gulf look like the scaly spine of a partially submerged monster. As we arrived in Tuan Chau Harbour, we disembarked and were directed to the small overnight junk boat that would take us around the bay. A junk boat is a traditional wooden boat found in Southeast Asia, mainly in China and Vietnam. Mostly powered by motors nowadays, the junk boats were historically used by fishermen and merchants, and were powered by wavy sails, shaped liked oversized fans.
We boarded our junk boat and were directed to our cabins to settle in. Shortly after we arrived, our captain pulled the boat out of the port, and we were off! I spent most of the day on the top deck, taking in the spectacular limestone islands and green waters in every direction. We stopped a few times throughout our cruise, once to visit a lookout point (which was so packed with other visitors that it took about 45 minutes to do a 15-minute hike!), and once to explore huge, beautiful caves with stalactites and staglamites. While Ha Long Bay was beautiful, the sheer presence of tourism and boats was quite overwhelming. While our boat was anchored and waiting to take us ashore, locals in tiny boats rowed between the bigger junk boats, hoping to sell products. I could also see garbage everywhere – from beaches scattered with plastic waterbottles, to garbage and plastic bags floating in the water I found this to be quite shocking and eye-opening – as this beautiful place felt both overrun and not taken care of.
I was happy for a reprieve from the crowds and other boats in the later afternoon, as we anchored for the evening in a more secluded cove. I hopped in a little kayak and paddled closer to the islands to explore. As the large boats carrying day trippers left for the day, Ha Long Bay became even more still and peaceful. Returning to the junk boat, I enjoyed a delicious Vietnamese Dinner, and watched the sun go down over the towering islands of the bay.
Day 172 – Ha Long Bay, Cat Ba and Monkey Island
I woke around 6am for the sunrise, determined to catch the first rays of light in the quiet moments of dawn. It was worth it! Aside from the occasional groans and creaks of the junk boat swaying on the water, the bay was silent and calm. As the sun peaked over the first limestone island, I could quickly feel the heat and humidity begin to rise. I headed back to bed to catch a few more hours of shut-eye before the day ahead!
In the morning, we tucked in for a delicious breakfast as we cruised through the bay towards Cat Ba Port, passing floating fishing villages, oyster farms, and multi-coloured fishing boats, heading out for a day of work. Arriving on Cat Ba, the largest island of Ha Long Bay, we disembarked from our junk boat to head into Cat Ba Town, the main village on the island. As we drove along dirt roads, we saw women in conical sun hats, selling potatoes and other vegetables at stands along the road. Large caves were visible in the distant cliffs, and our guide told us that many of these had been used as hideouts during the Vietnam war.
The town of Cat Ba was a kaleidoscope of life. Bird cages hung from the awnings of the tall, narrow homes. Fruit vendors with poles slung over their shoulders walked along the streets. Tiny Banh Mi stands could be found on every corner. Locals walked along the road, carrying smoothies and coffees with plastic carrying bags. In backyards and fields just outside of town, burning piles of garbage were occasionally visible. We drove through town on a Sunday and saw a few bright wedding tents erected outside of restaurants, with weddings in full swing as we passed by! The front porch culture and daily life of the town was visible at every turn, with locals working, celebrating, and going about their daily business in close proximity to others.
In the afternoon, I separated from my group as I had opted to spend my second night on nearby Monkey Island at a small, peaceful resort. I took a smaller junk boat across to the jetty of the resort, which was tucked into a small cove with a beach. I was shown to my private hut, constructed with varnished wooden walls and a thatched roof, with a small deck facing the ocean. I was glad for an afternoon of peace and relaxation after the chaos and frenetic tourism of Halong Bay! I spent most of the day reading, and in the late afternoon hiked up to the high point on the island. More of a rainforest bush-whack than a true trail, I had to duck under vines and scramble over spiked limestone boulders to make my way to the top. The view was well worth it though – with hundreds of jagged islands of Halong Bay visible in the near and far distance! Returning to the resort, I enjoyed a delicious buffet meal and glass of wine on the beach before heading off to bed for a long sleep.
Day 173 – Halong Bay to Hanoi
Today was a travel day with many legs! Junk boat to van, van to larger junk boat, junk boat to tour bus back to Hanoi. The journey back through the bay to the mainland port was just as spectacular as the outbound trip, and I resumed my perch on the top deck, taking it all on.
Arriving back in Hanoi in the early evening, I picked up my pack from my previous hostel and checked into a different hostel in the old quarter – this time in a shared dorm room to save a bit of money! I chatted with a few other travelers and walked to the nearby Pasteur Street Brewery for a sample of Vietnamese craft beer. It was delicious – with the flight pours being almost dangerously big!

i feel like we need more ffm kids moments!
So I'm there to propose some!
- the crew exploring flower fruit mountain, and they find different artifacts, and now they are stuck on a small adventure of some kind.
- i genuinely want wukong to feel better, so why not do it in the worst possible way? Him snapping and accidentally hurting seriously a demon. (Not his friends! Just a demon. His immense strength did not help.)
- dude. Wukong finding some old eyeliner and he tries it, sees that he gets prettier with it and he just hands it to Macaque to help Mac boost his little self esteem.
- just the little guys sleeping together, maybe doing a sleepover to someone house.
- fuck gender roles, the guys in the group going around with dresses and the girls going around with a suit. Just being cool y'know. And Wukong with make-up of course.
- Ma and wukong are the ones who can pick up everyone with no problem, if macaque tries to lift up someone he dies. If Ba tries she can do it but barely, if Beng does it, his limit is wukong.
- guys.
Each monkey. Each personal angst.
Ma not feeling like she's doing a good job at protecting her friends,
Macaque low self esteem making him think he's a bad friend (because be keeps getting the "spotlight" by being "weak" and always needing a bodyguard)
Beng feeling like he's not good enough, in general, not good enough to beat wukong in a play fight, not good enough to win Ba heart, not good enough to be a good bodyguard for Mac. Or being a good friend.
Wukong has many problems, he was a kid who got put under a lot of pressure and had to become mature earlier.
Not only his struggles with ADHD,
But him having some kind of identity crisis because he doesn't know what he is. Is he a monkey? Is he a demon? Is he something else?
or simply sun wukong feeling like he can't be himself. He can't show his emotions, he can't cry or he can't show that he's angry because he's the oldest. He's supposed to be mature and wise. But he's neither of those. He's overwhelmed and confused.
trans wukong and his gender dysphoria—
Ba feeling left out. Somehow she feels left out.
because she never gets that much attention maybe, maybe because she doesn't talk as much? Maybe because she needs to be more loud? she just feels left out.
I want the kids to explore FFM and meet the OG monkeys in some places, so they can give them explanations of what was there and the memories tied to them. And I want other places to be so painfully evident of what they mean (like Ma's grave) that the kids feel like they have just overstepped someone's boundary
Someone hurt one of his kids and Wukong went ape shit. Did the demon mean to hurt the kid? Irrelevant
Wukong handing make-up to Macaque like "You look horrible, cover that up"
MK is the king of sleepovers. He decided that they should all do a sleepover on the mountain and Wukong had no idea how to tell him no
Ok, this one fits perfectly with my headcanon that Wukong just has a fuckton of clothes in all possible genders in a big-ass wardrobe. So sleepover night becomes fashion night too
Wukong gloats that no one can pick him up and then Ma holds him up like a cat
Yes. Just yes at all the angst

Healer
pairing: Jet x Reader
TW: Heavy injury, near-death experience, discussions of trauma
Summary: The Freedom Fighters take Jet to a family of healers after his fight with Long Feng, where he begins a new friendship with the reader.
Notes: Hey everyone!! This was a request for a user on another platform who wanted a Jet x Reader. After many, many rewrites, I finally settled on making a two-parter, with this being the first part! I hope you like it and if you do, please feel free to leave a comment!!!
Masterlist
The sun had just risen over Ba Sing Se. The sky was an orange tint with only a few clouds in sight, the kind of day that always puts you in a good mood. You had opened the curtains wide, letting streams of sunlight fall into your living room, warming and brightening the space. You put a teapot full of hot water on top of the pot stand, using your spark rocks to begin heating it. Your parents hadn’t woken up yet, and you didn’t plan on waking them up any time soon.
You were the child of a mixed couple, with your mother being a refugee from the Northern Water Tribe and your father being a local in Ba Sing Se. Your mother moved to Ba Sing Se a long time ago, after the man she was originally arranged to marry died fighting in the war. Being a waterbender and a healer, she became very popular among the locals, opening her clinic in the Middle Ring, where she healed anyone who needed it. That’s how she met your father.
Eventually, of course, they had you, and as fate would have it, you were a healer and waterbender, as well. Your mother taught you as much as she could, and as soon as you were old enough, you began helping her. Even with your help, though, business could still be tiring. That was why you were letting them sleep.
You sprinkled a few jade tea leaves into the water, looking out the window and watching the houses around you begin to wake up. Your neighbor, Mrs Yao, was out watering the flowers in her garden. A few stray cats sat out in the alleyway, their tails swaying patiently as a boy, the son of one of the other neighbor’s, left out a saucer of milk for them. A newlywed couple kissed each other goodbye as one of them began her commute to work, the other bouncing a small baby on her hip. A group of children chased each other down the street, giggling and playing as they slowly made their way to school.
It was rare you got to see such a scenic morning. Perhaps you would take a walk after breakfast, just to enjoy it a little more. The gardens around this area were always nice to walk through, and you were sure they’d be even nicer with the weather.
You continued looking out the window, thinking about all the ways you could enjoy this fine morning, eventually having to check on the tea. You took it off its stand, putting out the fire and pouring yourself a cup. You sighed, holding the cup up to your lips and breathing in the scent of hot tea. Jade had always been a favorite of yours
A sharp, urgent knock rang out, startling you. You couldn’t think of anybody who would be visiting this early, so you hurried over to the door. You opened it just enough to peek out and felt your heart drop. You felt panic wash over your body, the scenic morning turning all the more grim.
In front of your house stood two people, a boy and a girl, holding up an unconscious and seriously injured boy in their arms. The girl had clearly been crying, the paint on her face was smudged and you could tell just from the expression of the boy helping her that whatever had happened was not good. As for the boy they were carrying, he didn’t look good at all. His eyes were shut, he couldn’t stand and he could barely breathe.
“Please,” the girl spoke, desperation in her voice. “Our friend was attacked by an earthbender. We heard a healer lives here and we need to see her.”
You stammered, struggling to think. Panic was setting in, and you couldn’t get out a single sound. You didn’t know what to do, but you’d have to figure it out. You took a deep breath in, clearing your mind and beginning to think. Stepping to the side, you began to speak.
“Get in, go to the hall and find the guest bedroom. Lay your friend down on the bed in there.”
You watched as they entered the house, rushing down the hall of your house and into the guest room. You turned to the basin that sat in your kitchen, holding up your arms and bending a round bubble of water. You walked as briskly as you could to the guest room, walking in and kneeling beside the boy. You bent the water over his chest, feeling all of the broken and bruised ribs he had. You frowned.
“This doesn’t look good,” you said. Out of the corner of your eye, you could see the girl fighting back another stream of tears. The boy beside her hung his head just enough so that you couldn’t see his face. You stared down at the injured boy in front of you, looking at his face. His eyes were still closed shut, his breathing short and tense, but steadier now that he was on his back. What were you going to do? You could try and heal him on your own, but it would be incredibly difficult, especially at your apprentice level. It was unlikely he’d live. There was only one thing you could think to do.
You bent the water into a nearby vase, standing and furrowing your brow in a serious expression.
“I need you two to take off everything covering his chest. It’s the only way I’ll be able to heal him effectively.”
They both looked up at you, a hopeful look coming across their faces.
“I need to get my mother.”
~
“These injuries are serious. What happened to him?” your mother asked, looking up at the Smellerbee and Longshot. They had told you their names after your mother and you had begun your healing session with their friend, Jet. You had woken up your parents half an hour ago and explained the situation, your mother immediately going to help. Your father was currently making a special medicinal tea in the kitchen, hoping it would be of help to Jet.
“It’s a long story,” Longshot answered. “And even if we had enough time to explain, we aren’t in a safe enough position to say.”
Your stomach tightened. Were they involved with some kind of gang? That would explain their clothes and face paint, but they seemed too friendly to be in one. However, that didn’t dismiss the idea that they could’ve just been targets. Either way, you were worried.
Your mother nodded. “I understand. I won’t pry any further. How about you tell us more about yourselves?”
Your father walked in, a soft smile on his face as he placed a tray of tea down.
“Jet, Longshot and I have been together for a long time,” Smellerbee spoke. “Before we came to Ba Sing Se, we lived in the woods around a small village that had been taken over by the Fire Nation. We stuck together because the Fire Nation had taken something away from all of us. Both Jet and I lost our families, and Longshot's village was burned to the ground."
Your father gave her a sympathetic look as he handed her a cup of tea. “I’m so sorry. I lost my father when I was about your age. It’s something nobody should ever have to go through, especially a child.”
Smellerbee gave him a soft smile. “Thank you, sir. It was alright in the end. We formed a group called the Freedom Fighters, where we would fight back against the troops in our area and help people who had been hurt by them.”
You were impressed and intrigued, hanging off of every word she said. “That all sounds so exciting!”
She nodded. “It was. For a while, at least. We even got to meet the Avatar at some point.”
You gasped softly, looking up from the boy below you with wide eyes. “The Avatar?”
“Yes,” Longshot answered. “Unfortunately, it wasn’t under the best circumstances. The Freedom Fighters had become more about revenge than helping the Earth Kingdom. We made a horrible mistake that almost cost the lives of an entire village.”
Seeing the previous awe on your face beginning to sink, Smellerbee quickly interjected, “but we’re not like that anymore. We came to Ba Sing Se for a fresh start to move on from our past mistakes. Unfortunately, Jet had a harder time letting go than we did and got himself arrested for attacking a tea shop worker who he thought was a firebender.”
Your mother frowned, the water underneath her hands continuing to flow over Jet’s chest.
“I had a horrible feeling the Dai Li had something to do with this,” she sighed. Your father gave Smellerbee and Longshot a smile.
“And please know that we don’t judge you for your past. You have all been through so much, and it is completely justified that you feel anger towards the Fire Nation.”
You nodded, the conversation ending there as you began to focus intensely on healing Jet. You could feel the bruises and broken ribs in his chest slowly begin to heal, and his breathing was becoming more and more steady. You were grateful the group had managed to find you and your mother in time before any of his injuries could get any worse. If they had waited any longer, you probably wouldn’t have been able to make this much progress.
About an hour later, you and your mother had managed to heal Jet enough that he would be stable on his own; his chest was still injured, but not lethally, and when he’d eventually wake up, he’d be able to breathe, talk and eat normally.
Your mother grabbed a towel and wiped her hands, smiling softly at Smellerbee and Longshot. “Jet is going to have to stay with us for a few weeks, just to make sure he heals completely. He’s not quite ready to be walking all around Ba Sing Se just yet.”
Smellerbee smiled brightly. “That’s great! How much do we owe you?
Your mother chuckled, shaking her head. “No, no, you don’t need to worry about that. Just worry about taking care of yourselves. Just make sure you visit at least once a week. That should be enough.”
Longshot bowed his head. Though his expression was blank, you could see the grateful glimmer in his eyes.
Smellerbee stood, Longshot doing the same. "Thank you so much. We'll be sure to come back and check on him tomorrow."
Your father walked with them to lead them out of the house and to possibly offer them some food. You looked back at your mother.
"What now?"
She sighed, looking down at Jet with her brow furrowed. "We're just going to have to do regular healing sessions and keep an eye on him until he wakes up. That's the best we can do for now."
You nodded and let your eyes fall on his face yet again, relaxing at the sight of him peacefully sleeping. The pain must have been subdued with your healing. You could finally take a breath and feel good that you had helped a little bit.
You stood and wiped your hands on your clothes, walking towards the door. You needed to eat something, as that healing session was quite draining. Perhaps you still had some good peaches.
You looked back at Jet one last time. He looked quite handsome when he wasn't in pain.
~
The light from the window to the side was practically blinding to Jet, his vision blurry as he tried to open his eyes. It took a while for his vision to focus enough for him to get a good look at where he was. The room was a lot different than what he was accustomed to. The walls were nice, much nicer than what you’d be able to find in the Lower Ring, and there was a landscape painting hung up on the wall directly in front of him. The mat he was lying on was a lot more comfortable than he was used to, and the sheets were made with some high-quality fabric. He had no memory of ever being here before. The last thing he really could remember was excruciating pain in his chest.
Right. He had that fight with Long Feng and had his chest crushed. The Avatar’s friends were there, as well as Smellerbee and Longshot. He must’ve blacked out some time after Aang left because he couldn’t seem to remember anything after that.
He tried to sit up, groaning as he moved his fatigued body for what seemed to be the first time in days. His chest didn’t hurt as bad as he recalled, but it was still very sore. He had to keep his back somewhat straight otherwise it hurt to breathe, not to mention his head was killing him. Overall, Jet was not comfortable in the slightest, and he still had no idea where he was.
When the pain toned down enough for him to be able to think and focus, he tried to observe his surroundings. He had already determined that he was most likely in the Middle or Upper ring, given how nice the interior was. There was a large vase beside his bedding, one he figured was filled with water. Other than that, not much was going on decorating wise.
He looked down at the sheets that covered his chest, hesitantly pulling them down to see the damage Long Feng had done to his chest. He winced. Large purple bruises were scattered across his chest. They weren’t severe, at least not as severe as he was thinking, but there were a lot and they were very sensitive. His mind went back to the feeling of being struck with the rock. It was horrible and it felt like it completely collapsed. The more Jet thought about it, the more it occurred to him that it was only a miracle that he wasn’t dead.
“Oh, great!”
Jet’s eyes immediately darted up to the doorway, just as a stranger walked into the room holding a tray of tea.
You gave him a smile, kneeling beside him and placing the tray down.
“Mother told me you’d be awake by now.”
Your voice was soft and reassuring, but Jet still eyed you with caution.
“Where am I?” he asked, his voice hoarse from going so long without use.
You took a cup of tea from the tray and handed it to him, smiling.
“You’re in my house Jet. Your friends, Smellerbee and Longshot, brought you in here a few days ago, because you were attacked. My mother and I are healers, so we’ve been taking care of you for a bit.”
He hummed, taking the tea from your hand and watching the steam rise from it. You shifted slightly, moving your feet from under you and crossing your legs.
“I’m sorry if you’re not a fan of jade tea, it was the only kind we had.”
Jet gave you a small smile of reassurance.
“It’s alright. I don’t drink tea often enough to have a favorite anyway.”
He took a sip of it, a sudden insatiable thirst awakening inside him the moment the tea touched his tongue. It had only just occurred to him how long he had gone without water, or food for that matter. He tilted his head back, chugging the tea until there wasn’t a drop left in the cup. He took a deep breath, looking back over at you, suddenly wide awake.
“How long was I out?” he exclaimed, panic in his voice.
“About a few days,” you said, handing him another cup that was on the tray. “And I wouldn’t call it ‘out.’ You were in and out of consciousness all day yesterday. I was able to make you drink a little water here and there, but not a lot.”
By the time you were finished talking, he was already done with his second cup, tea dribbling down his chin.
“Where are Smellerbee and Longshot?” He asked, wiping his face with his wrist.
“I don’t know, to be honest. They never told us where they lived.”
“And where’s your mother?”
You took a pause, pursing your lips together silently. You reached out and gently touched his chest, pushing him back a bit.
“Please lay back down. There’s a lot I have to tell you.”
He hesitated, giving you a questioning look, before slowly laying flat on the bed.
“Can you tell me your name?” he asked.
You gave him a smile and nodded, whispering your name to him as you raised your hands and looked towards the vase in the corner. You began to move them in slow patterns, water bending out of the vase and over to where he lay.
“Move the sheet out of the way so I can begin healing your chest,” you said, clear and stern.
He did as you asked, pulling the sheets out of the way to reveal his bruised abdomen. You smiled and muttered a small thank you, before bending the water over his wounds. The water began to glow dimly and left a cool sensation on Jet’s wounds. He hissed slightly, feeling the water begin to heal his wounds.
“You know,” he said raspily. “I’ve actually met another healer before.”
“Really?”
“Yeah… her name was Katara.”
You grinned. “Katara’s a beautiful name. What tribe was she from?”
“She and her brother were from the Southern Water Tribe. She was the only waterbender they had.”
You hummed, recalling what your mother had said about the Southern Water tribe.
“I assumed so. My mother told me that the Fire Nation captured all of the South’s waterbenders. I guess they missed one."
“Must’ve. She was travelling with her brother and the Avatar to the North when I first met her.”
You grinned excitedly, perking up at the mention of the Avatar.
“Your friends mentioned you had a run-in with the Avatar!” you beamed, continuing to heal him. “Tell me, what was he like?"
“He was a great kid. Friendly and always eager to help. He can be a bit naive, but he’s gotten smarter since I last saw him. I’ve run into him two separate times.”
“Weren’t you with him when you got attacked?”
His face fell a bit, his brow furrowing as he averted his eyes from you.
“Yeah. I was helping him find his bison.”
His tone was cold and distant, a total one-eighty from a few moments ago. You bit your lip softly and turned your head towards him.
“How did you get attacked, if you don’t mind me asking?”
He sighed, looking back up at you with a slight smile.
“How much time do you have?”
You grinned.
“All the time in the world.”

What kind of dreams (or nightmares) do you think the Avatar characters have? Obviously Aang's got some wild ones and Sokka dreams about food eating people xD but what do you think The rest of the gaang and the Fire Nation kids dream about?
Okay so this is just my opinion but, even if Aang's dreams and nightmares in Season 3 were funny, they all came from the fear of failing that Aang had. So if the dreams/nightmares are influenced by the character's feelings/ insecurities then this is what i imagine each of them would dream about:
Katara- even though the fandom jokes about it a lot, she does mention/talk a lot about her mom in the series, and that is completely understandable considering the fact that she's dealing with that trauma since she was a kid. The North and South comics begin with Katara dreaming of her mom back in the SWT, and the dream was both happy and sad for her. She even woke up feeling nostalgic. Therefore i feel like Katara's more significant dreams consist of memories of her mom , and the good times she had in the water tribe before the Fire Nation altered that forever. Her nightmares could be heavily influenced by the amount of stress she has with being the "mom" of the group. She truly does act motherly with her friends, but it's all because she cares and she's has been doing so with Sokka since she was a kid. The idea of not being able to protect them probably haunts her dreams..
Sokka- i sometimes feel so bad for Sokka. Many people often overlook the fact that he was also a child personally affected by the war. In Season 1 we see that he feels this big responsibility to protect his tribe. After all, he is the oldest "man" left. That's a huge responsibility! He also has this need to prove himself as a warrior to Hakoda. Not only that, in the episode "Sokka's Master" we see that he also has this issue with being a non-bender in a group of powerful benders. This doesn't come from him being selfish, but he feels bad when he sees that he can't help people as much as the rest of the gaang does. So if you add that to his usual easy going, fun personality his dreams could honestly range from silly things like him being eaten by food, and him being awesome with Suki, to more serious nightmares that involve him not being/doing enough to protect those that depend on him.
Toph- out of all of the Ember Island players i feel like Toph's representation is most accurate 😭 that kid is tough as nails. The many statues she makes of herself in both Imbalance and later on in Legend of Korra make me think her dreams mostly consist of her being awesome in super badass scenarios! Or her being MELONLORD!!! Her nightmares however are the complete opposite. In "The Blind Bandit" she says she hasn't had a single friend in the 12 years of her life! like omgg bby let me give you a hug!!! And I thought it was super interesting how vulnerable she looks in the episode "The Avatar and the Firelord" when she asks if its truly possible for friendships to last more than one lifetime. She found more than friendships, she found a family with the gaang. In The Rift, her own father denied knowing her, which proves that family is not defined by blood ties. So letting go/ losing those friendships is a concept that seems to scare her. I feel like this is something she might have nightmares about.
Suki- because Suki is part of the gaang!!! She does have her own group with the Kyoshi warriors, not trying to erase that, but i consider her to be a part of the gaang too! With that being said we really do not know much about this queen, and i am so glad that she's getting her own comic! Hopefully we learn more about her! But from what we know, she began training since she was 8 years old! She is a brave warrior and a great friend. I feel like she takes her job as a Kyoshi warrior super seriously and is honored to be their fearless leader. I imagine that her happy dreams consist of her meeting Kyoshi herself. As for her nightmares, we do not get a lot of her (unfortunately) to really perceive her fears, but if Azula's taunting in "The Day of Black Sun Pt.2" are true, then Suki has been waiting on Sokka to rescue her for some time now. Seeing that time passed must have been hard for her. Her nightmares might have been influenced by her feeling abandoned, or her worry about the other Kyoshi warriors. (Also i love Azula, but Suki probably also dreamed of dragging Azula's big head on the ground.)
Zuko- omggg where do i even begin with this boy?! I feel like the Fire Nation teens are just so angsty! But when one's father burns off half of your face then that's the way it is igs. So I feel like the show was pretty in detail when it came to Zuko's character and his personality. Throughout the show, we see how he sometimes gets this flashbacks whenever he's feeling a specific way or when he's reminded of something. This was seen most in "The Beach". Despite being this angsty, emotional guy he is always remembering his early childhood very fondly despite being part of the most dysfunctional family in the Fire Nation. During his fever, we see his nightmares being this representation of the constant fight between good and evil inside him. Therefore i think this is what Zuko most likely sees when he has nightmares. (It is quite interesting how the "evil" blue dragon in his nightmare seems to represent Azula and the "good" red dragon is Iroh. That kind of made me wonder why Zuko seemed to associate the evil aspect with Azula rather than Ozai🤔). But back to the point. If the flashbacks he has are any indication, then his dreams most likely involve the good times he had with his mother and family during their vacations on ember island. (And because of his trauma, he might also relive the Agni Kai with Ozai in his nightmares.)
Azula- i could write essays on this girl. Her character is just so complex! And literally nothing in this world is gonna convince me that she didn't deserve better. Im gonna try to keep it as short as possible with her because quite honestly i could go on forever. But im having a hard time figuring out what a happy dream might be for Azula. Conquering Ba Sing Se?? Mastering Firebending at a young age?? Oh right she did do that! She wasn't like Zuko, in the way that she could look back on the past and remember it fondly. Quite the opposite actually, she refers to their beach house as "depressing". Then, later on in the bonfire, she treats everyone's emotions and confessions as a "performance". It's quite interesting to think that truly the only one who was trying to perform was her. Everyone else was very honest and open with their insecurities even if they didn't realize it. The fact that she thinks showing emotion is a performance of some sort makes it clear that everything she does is a perfectly put-together performance. Her nightmares could consist that facade falling apart, and her status as the perfect daughter being reduced to nothing along with her many achievements. The difference with Azula is that just as she became everything she dreamed of, she also ended up being everything her nightmares doomed her to be. ( I also have this hc that she dreamt of having a cat with ty lee and just living together at Ember Island after she got help and just lived their happy gay life of wtvvvv)
omggg this post is gonna be super long, but i had so much fun answering this! thank you for that! it was a nice surprise 🥰 i can do ty lee and mai later if you'd like just lmk! im just giving my thumbs a lil rest rn. hope this sorta answered the question😌

Crusader of Life 2: Chapter 21
“Did I just hear you correctly?” Jotaro asked.
Kakyoin nodded. His face had gone pale, and his eyes looked past the material world. “Kira just blew him up. Okuyasu is really dead.”
“Hey, snap out of it,” Jotaro shook Kakyoin lightly. “What’s going on now?”
Kakyoin blinked, and he returned to reality, although his expression didn’t change much. “Right,” he muttered. “There’s a weird bubble floating towards Josuke. It’s not going fast at all, so he should be able to escape it. But… he’s not moving.”
“What?” Koichi asked. “No, Josuke would be fighting for Okuyasu now, wouldn’t he?”
“You would think that,” Kakyoin replied. “But he’s just standing where Okuyasu was. The bubble is slowly approaching him, and he doesn’t even notice! I’m going to need to step in!”
At the fighting scene, Hierophant jumped out from under the ground. He grabbed onto the bubble and pulled it away from Josuke as much as he could.
Kira was taken aback a little bit, before his lips formed into a smile. “Well, you weren’t my original target, but you’re much more of a menace to me than Higashikata,” he said. “I guess taking you out will be better.”
Hierophant heard a click from the bubble, and saw a bright light emerge from it. Back at the store, Kakyoin shouted, “Emily, cover your eyes!”
In an instant, Kakyoin’s chest burst open, and blood splattered everywhere. He fell straight to the ground with eyes closed.
“Kakyoin!” everyone yelled.
“Mr. Kakyoin!” Josuke cried out. Hierophant laid on the ground, but its usually bright green body was dull and flickering, and its chest was wide open. Josuke ran over and summoned Crazy Diamond, placing the Stand’s hands on Hierophant’s shoulders. Its body went back to normal for a split second before disappearing entirely.
Now, Josuke remembered. Right now, he had no time to mourn. If he allowed himself to be killed, then millions more would die by Kira’s hands. “Don’t worry, Okuyasu,” Josuke whispered to himself. “I’ll make sure your sacrifice was worth it.”
“Can I look now?” Emily asked.
“Not yet,” Jotaro said, in the calmest voice he could muster.
“Wait,” Koichi said. He pointed at Kakyoin with a smile. “His chest is forming back!”
Everyone looked, and sure enough, Kakyoin’s chest was reforming. However, the man wasn’t getting back up.
“Can I look now?” Emily asked again.
Jotaro pressed his ear to Kakyoin’s chest. “He still has a heartbeat,” he said. “Yes, Emily, you can open your eyes.”
Emily opened them up, and looked down at her father, completely unconscious. “What happened?”
“He just got hurt a little,” Koichi reassured the little girl. “He’ll be fine, though, don’t worry.”
“Well, there goes our plan,” Rohan groaned. “Now what?”
“There’s not much else we can do except go and look for that bastard until we find him,” Jotaro shrugged.
“Bas… tard?” Emily repeated. “What does bastard mean?”
Everyone went silent. Jotaro let out a very quiet “Shit.”
Unfortunately, Emily heard that, too. “Shit?”
“Rohan, I give you permission to write in one more thing for Emily,” Jotaro said. “Make her unable to swear.”
“I’m on it,” Rohan nodded.
“Now, then,” Jotaro continued. “None of us know what Kawajiri looks like, so Hayato will have to come with us. Rohan, take Kakyoin somewhere safe, and wait until he wakes up. And Emily can join our group. Her Stand could help us, and I’ll make sure she’s safe.”
“Daddy, wake up!” Emily crawled on top of the man and opened up his eyelids. “You don’t sleep in the store,” she giggled.
“Rohan will wake him up,” Koichi nudged Emily, who looked back at the boy with a confused face. “Come on, you can come help us catch a bad guy!”
Emily went wide-eyed, giving a huge smile. “Yeah!” she exclaimed. “Bad guy! Bad guy!”
Jotaro lifted the girl on his shoulders, then gave one last glance at Rohan and Kakyoin before they all exited the store and split apart.
“So, how should we go about trying to find this guy?” Koichi asked.
“I say that we go where Kakyoin saw him last, then split up and search for him from there,” Jotaro answered. “I’ll take Emily with me, and you take Haya-”
As Jotaro was about to finish, a huge explosion came from a house not far from where they were before.
“New plan,” Jotaro said. “We go where the explosions are.”
***
Josuke was at his limit. He could barely breathe, let alone fight, and a bubble-bomb was inching closer and closer to him. He could move, but his speed would be slower than the bubble, and it would catch up to him eventually. The only thing he could do was watch as death slowly approached him.
That is, until the bubble changed course. It started going in the opposite direction, and it had a different aura surrounding it. The same aura Josuke felt come from Walking on Sunshine.
The boy looked back at Kira, who was clearly surprised.
“Why isn’t Killer Queen sending the bomb towards Josuke?” Kira muttered to himself. As he asked that question, the bubble suddenly stopped, and Stray Cat started to float up and out of Killer Queen’s belly, straight into the hands of a girl with a hair color Kira couldn’t forget.
Stray Cat did not take kindly to being suspended in the air. It hissed and wiggled around, throwing air bubbles wherever it could. But the minute it landed into the hands of a human, it felt a soft pet on the top of its head. The creature started purring, and rubbing its face on the arm of the one holding him.
“That tickles!” Emily laughed. “I wanna keep him!”
“You can talk about that with your dad later,” Jotaro said. “Can you focus on the bubble again?”
Looking back at the scene, Emily noticed the bubble was moving towards Josuke again. She quickly grabbed a hold of it with Sunshine, and started to send it back to Kira. The man looked back at Emily with a glare, then closed his thumb to his fist, setting the bomb off right between him and Josuke. Once the dust cleared, Kira started walking swiftly towards Josuke, with Killer Queen reaching out its hand. Josuke tried to run, but the damage he took made him stumble and fall.
“No!” Emily shouted. “Stay away!” She took hold of Kira, then violently flung him back and into the streets. By that time, ambulances and fire trucks had appeared at the scene, alerted by the explosion from the house.
“Are you alright?” one of the nurses asked Kira. She reached out her hand, and the man grabbed a hold of it. The nurse was now a bomb.
As Kira told the woman all about his past, Hayato explained how Bites the Dust worked. Once Jotaro had the idea of what it did, he set Emily down before running to the man that had caused all this trouble.
“No, this is the limit!” Kira yelled. He had his hand closed into a fist with his thumb protruding. “I’m going to reset this day once again!” He went to close down his thumb, but before he could, Echoes Act Three made his hand extremely heavy, which broke apart the fist. Jotaro stopped time and broke Kira’s hand, as well as a few other body parts, as well. Then, before anyone could react, an ambulance rolled backwards, straight over Kira’s head. Josuke covered Emily’s eyes as he realized what was going to happen.
Everyone was stunned. The killer they had been trying to catch for so long, and he died from an accident.
“So… that’s it?” Koichi asked. As Josuke was receiving medical attention, he was carrying Emily away from the scene.
“I suppose so,” Jotaro shrugged. In the distance, he noticed two figures that were very familiar; one had green hair, the other had red.
“Daddy!” Emily cried out. She let go of Koichi’s hand and ran over to Kakyoin, who looked away from Rohan before letting a wide grin take over.
“Emily!” he laughed. He bent down to the ground and scooped her up, twirling her around in the air before examining her face. “Are you alright? Did you get hurt? What happened?”
“She’s fine, thanks to all of us,” Jotaro said while walking up. “And thanks to her, Josuke is still alive.”
“I heard from a good account that you allowed Emily to join your group, even though I asked that she wasn’t allowed to.” Kakyoin glared over at his friend.
Jotaro held his hands to his side. “Go on. Punch me, if it’ll make you feel better. I don’t regret taking her.”
“No, that won’t be necessary.” Kakyoin waved his hand in the air. “She’s completely safe. That’s all I need to know.”
At the hotel, Kakyoin and Emily started putting their things in their luggage bags again. Kakyoin teared up a bit as he put up Lily’s luggage for her. He wasn’t willing to sell anything yet, because he hoped that Emily might like some of the clothing in there.
“Daddy, I’m packed up,” Emily said. “Do we have to go?”
“I’m sorry, but we do.” Kakyoin rubbed the little girl’s head and lifted her up. “It won’t be so bad. I’m sure you’ll see Morioh again one day.”
Emily nodded her head and said nothing more.
At the dock, Josuke, Rohan, Okuyasu, Koichi, Joseph, and Jotaro were waiting for Kakyoin and Emily so they could say their last goodbyes.
“Aw, I wish you didn’t have to go, Emily,” Josuke said. “Keep your city safe for me, okay?”
“Make sure to pay attention in school so you don’t end up like me,” Okuyasu added.
“And please make sure not to go crazy over a boy,” Koichi asked. “I promise none of us are that great.”
Emily nodded her head through tears, but Walking on Sunshine didn’t activate. “Bye bye, everyone!” she cried as she was taken up into the boat.
“She’s learning,” Jotaro said quietly to Kakyoin. A faint smile formed across his face.
“Goodbye, everyone!” Kakyoin called out. “Stay safe!”
As the boat got further and further away, Kakyoin could’ve sworn he saw a golden silhouette of Lily waving from the shore. He rubbed his eyes, and she was gone. It was probably just the sun glaring the right way, he decided.
Besides, even if she was there, at least she would be living with some of the best people she knew. And now that Kira was gone, the little town of Morioh was safe once again.
