12 Days of Holidays: Day 8

Calum HoodXFemale Reader

Warnings: pure fluff, winter weather, food, winter activities, mistletoe

“Peppermint tea and lemon poppyseed muffin,” Calum said, placing the items in front of you.  

“Thank you,” you smiled, grabbing the packet of honey and tearing it open. You playfully bumped his shoulder, giggles coming from Calum as he did the same back. “I’m surprised you’re not exhausted,” you said, head resting on his shoulder now. 

“Oh I am, but we still got some slopes to go down,” he replied, taking a piece of your muffin and popping it into his mouth. After the dinner Calum had asked you to come with them on their skiing trip the next day. You had declined the offer. Already you felt like you were intruding into their friend group just by being at the dinner. You had to be convinced by his friends to join in on the fun. The group was already taking a liking to you. So once again, you found your uncoordinated self at a place you definitely shouldn’t have been. 

So far you have been lucky enough  to not have fallen on your face. The cold weather was not your favorite and you had been freezing your butt off and was happy to now be inside getting warmed. It was your first time skiing. A good portion of the day was spent with you learning and being on the baby slopes. It wasn’t that hard once you figured out your footing, but what you appreciated was that Calum stayed with you throughout the time. At some point you had felt ready to try a bigger slope. After trying it once, you felt wiped out, which led you and Calum to the lodge for resting. The two of you were sitting in a sort of secluded section of the lodge. Resting on one of the leather brown couches tucked in a corner near the fireplace. Calum slumped a bit into the couch, arm resting over your shoulder and head laid back with his eyes closed.

  “You havin’ fun?” Calum questioned after a while, peeking one eye open to look at you. You looked up from your phone and gave him a smile. 

“Yeah, I just hate that I’m holding you guys back,” you sighed, locking your phone and placing it on your lap. 

“No! Come on-we’re happy to have you here. Sure I’d love to go on the bigger slopes, but I invited you, and leaving you on your own to learn would be rude,” he said. You smiled at him, and bit onto your bottom lip in thought. 

“You’re really sweet. Like we only met each other four days ago and already you do so much for me,” you commented. You saw how Calum treated his friends. He was nice, caring, and enjoyed helping out, but you could tell he treated you with more care than the others. 

“You’ve done things for me too,” he shrugged, taking another piece of your muffin. Silence fell once again and this time you battled in your head on the next words you wanted to say. You thought it’d be best if you just asked him what the two of you were doing. You didn’t mind being friends with Calum, there was no issue with it at all, but you also wanted to know if he was trying to pursue anything with you. If not, then you were happy to dust off the ole dating apps. 

Your mouth opened to say something, the moment being interrupted with Calum’s friends coming to the area. They all piled onto the other couches, sly smirks on their faces. “Have you two kissed yet?” Luke asked, making you choke a bit on your tea. You began to cough, trying hard to get air into your lungs.

“What?!” you blurted, looking towards Calum, who eyes were widened at Luke in a ‘what the fuck’ type of way. Luke pointed over your heads, and your body shifted as you followed where his finger was pointing. Your mouth parted in as realization struck. You and Calum were sitting right under a mistletoe. “Oh! A mistletoe,” you voiced your thoughts. You licked your lips and looked over to Calum. 

“Tradition states th-” Michael began,

“I’m pretty sure she knows the rules of a mistletoe,” Calum sighed, one hand coming up to rub his eye. You could hear slight irritation in his voice. You hadn’t noticed the herb hanging above your heads when you sat down in the area. All your focus was on the fireplace, which drew you to the spot closest to it. “You don’t have to,” Calum said, “They’re just being st-” You silenced him with a kiss on the cheek. Calum’s mouth clamping shut and a smile beginning to form. 

“Tradition says a kiss, doesn’t state what kind,” you told him. For the first time since meeting Calum, he was speechless. You wiggled in your spot to get comfortable, focusing in on the conversation that was happening. You mentally noted to ask Calum your question after the skiing trip. In the meantime you were going to enjoy the closeness.

PROPOSAL

ok so yall know how school lasts 2 semesters (both 5 months long) and u get a 2 week winter/summeer break + a 2 month summer/winter break. theres benefits to winter breaks (u get off of school for 2 months and then have christmas before u go back to school) and summer breaks (u dont have to go to school in hot weather + vacation time maybe) so heres my idea which is good

24 grades as opposed to twelve. every school year is split in half. each semester is its own grade with 2 month breaks in between. in highschool you keep your classes for 2 grades (so like freshman year you get classes A B C D E F and then freshman-2 year you keep classes A B C D E F. and then sophmore and sophmore-2 u get classes G H I J K L. and so on)

PROS: -long winter AND summer break -no other benefits other than longer breaks

CONS: -u have to remember things harder -no other downsides either because its basically the same shit just longer breaks
