a/n - back from the dead. school started up again and im depressed and i have so many exams next week but here i am procrastinating!! maybe one day i'll write something again but in the mean time have this (it's been marinating in my notes app for like 3 months by now)

“yeah, you’re cute. adorable, even...” 

he said with a million-watt smile, his fingers absentmindedly tracing shapes against your thigh. you raised an eyebrow, questioning his taste. right now, you were wearing his old pajama shirt and bottoms which were both faded and fraying at the hems. out of all the times to call you cute, did he really choose right now? 

he leaned in to kiss the tip of your nose lightly, his fingers making their way up to your hands from your legs. he held them in his own warm palms, and kissed the corner of your lips. “don’t give me that look,” he whispered. “i think you’re the cutest wearing my clothes, y’know.” he kissed your cheek. “it makes me feel at home,” he said against your lips, and you couldn’t help but smile with him. something about his charm was infectious, and no matter how much you might doubt yourself, you knew he would always love you, tattered pajamas or not. 

hinata, bokuto, komori, yaku (demon senpai or not he definitely has a soft spot), aone, asahi, hanamaki, yamaguchi? aran? tendou? kenma? kageyama?

“beautiful. absolutely gorgeous,” he breathed.

your eyes widen, taken aback at the sincerity of his tone. a light flush couldn’t help but creep its way up onto your cheeks, and you look away, abashed. his fingers brushed against your cheek, tilting your face back at him. “why are you being so shy?” he questioned. “i mean it. truly. even the simplest things you do make me fall in love all over again.” his thumb rubbed soothing circles against your soft skin. "every time you fall asleep on my shoulder, every time you raise an eyebrow at me, and even right now when your cheeks are glowing pink make my heart stutter like we're on my first date," he said with a laugh. you could feel your cheeks burn aflame at his honesty, and couldn't help but look away. “quit blushing,” he teased. “i can’t focus when you’re looking so pretty like that.” 

akaashi, sugawara ("little shit") koushi, sakusa, the hirugami bros (acting like they don't have a combined word count of 20 in the entire series), iwa chan, daichi, semi, kita, ushijima?, tsukki?

“you’re pretty sexy.  hot, if i dare be promiscuous.” 

you roll your eyes at first, huffing through your nose and turning your attention back to your phone before he drags you back to his side. “i’m being serious,” he murmured into the side of your ear, his breath tickling your skin. “it goes beyond your looks, you know. it’s the way you walk, the way you carry yourself…the way you’re so confident in our relationship and in me,” he said, heartfelt. “that kind of unwavering confidence? unbelievably hot.” he leaned back, taking in your entire body. “also, you have a nice ass, which really helps.” he deserved the slap he got, but he couldn't help but grin at the sound of your giggles. he placed a chaste kiss against your temple, his hand looping around your waist again. "keep doing whatever you're doing. i'm in love with you, always. it's hard not to be when you're so irresistible," he whispered against your skin.

Redoing my masterthread since I post on mobile a lot and i can't trim. I will keep things as spoiler free as possible! Thoughts under the cut :)

Vol 1-3 thoughts:

-Not to liveblog my experience but I forgot how iconic Oikawa’s entrance in. That whole mini arc at the practice game is incredible

-Alright reading on pause I can’t do the first nekoma practice match right now I’m gonna burst into tears at work

Okay I lied so two things:

1) Karasuno second and third years. These early chapters still hit man the emotions and the everything. That is all.

The Volleyball Answer

Growth is interesting and I have been staring at this panel for way too long.

This is the fight, this is where both Kageyama and Hinata learn a lesson they have for the whole series.

Kageyama

He has been ostracised by his team for being too demanding and not listening to his peers and he kept asking for more and more. The team decided to give the answer in silence and in non compliance. Which at 14 is fair if not expected.

Here comes the kicker, in this fight, even physical, Hinata doesn't back down, he doesn't take the answer that Kageyama gave him, Coach gave him, even Sugawara gave him, he mostly demanded from Kageyama though.

Hinata

He has waited for Kageyama to toss to him, to keep tossing to him. He told Suga San that if he got tosses from him, he lost to Kageyama somehow.

After playing long enough, he no longer thinks that Kageyama will not toss to him. His fight is essentially, a promise that you keep tossing to me, no matter what, no matter what I ask, as long as we have each other we are invincible.

Kageyama learns that fights happen, if he is demanding, the others can demand too. (And fights can be resolved, maybe crowning happens later but this is the stepping stone of that)

Hinata on the other hand learns that his greed can only be satisfied by one person, that he will go any lengths for Tobio's tosses.

The character study of them is so interesting, the ying and yang nature of them, how they fill spaces left at fundamental levels by those around them.

It was eye opening that Hinata wants a promise of tosses that is all there is. That his setter keeps trying, that failing is acceptable but not giving up.

do u have any headcanons or other thoughts on teshiro? narratively i understand why he gets very few moments to shine but i also think his character could be SOOO interesting to expand on, like what is it like to inherit the role of "the Brains of Nekoma" after kenma graduates? or how does he get along with the others in his year? after the timeskip he's a cram school instructor so i like to imagine in high school he ended up tutoring a lot of the others before exams and things. and he and inuoka both became educators!! i bet they like to swap stories at team reunions lol

Teshiro can be tricky since he has so little screen time but i've got a few thoughts on him!

• At first I think he'd struggle to connect with the other first-years on the team, especially Lev and Inuoka since they're so energetic and can be a lot to handle. I can see him sorta clinging to Kai for the first few weeks since they both have calmer personalities. But after spending more time on the bench with Inuoka and Shibayama I think he'd warm up to them, mostly thanks to Shibayama getting him involved with cheering (said this in a previous post, I see Shibayama as the team cheerleader). Lev would come a bit later, maybe they bond over their weirdly grey hair lmao • First off this panel is just funny. He's so deadpan I love him for that. Second, I think it shows that Teshiro isn't really a think-on-the-fly kinda guy. He's level-headed but seems more comfortable planning stuff out rather than acting on impulse. Because of that I can see him carrying around a little notebook and writing stuff down a lot, maybe he plans strategies at night kind of like Sugawara. While on the bench he studies the spikers and how Kenma sets for them so he can adjust his own setting to each player.

• Because he's so straight-faced all the time Fukunaga has made it his mission to make him laugh. He's his own personal his boss level.

• Teshiro is the only reason Lev and Inuoka aren't failing right now. He tutors them before exams so they can go to practice camp and lets them borrow his notes since neither of them take any. He's got the most immaculate notes—perfect handwriting, color-coded, little diagrams and drawings, etc etc. Despite being in a different year Tora and Fukunaga go to him in desperation sometimes because they're dumbasses and he knows the second-year material better than them.

• I'm a believer in captain Teshiro for their third year, his level-headedness and smarts make him the perfect canidate. Inuoka is his vice captain, they balance each other out nicely— Teshiro is super organized and methodical so he keeps the team running smoothly while Inuoka's contagious sunshine attitude keeps the energy super fun and inviting.

•HE HAS CANON RESTING BITCH FACE THE POOR GUY, imagine him and Tora walking down the hallway together and everyone thinking that they're on their way to beat someone up. In reality they lost a coin flip and were sent to buy the team drinks.

• Love the idea of Teshiro and Inuoka bonding in timeskip over their education jobs, I can see Teshiro asking him for advice on how to better connect with the kids since he's great at teaching but struggles with the social aspects.

quite a lot of readers speculated that Yuta has probably gained a pair of Six Eyes because of his distant lineage with Gojo, but even if that could be somewhat true, do you think it makes any sense? I do not doubt Yuta at all. his ability is second only to Gojo and we also have Yuji surpassing him, but I thought the Six Eyes were inherited from birth, though? not to mention it is an extremely RARE TRAIT, and Satoru was the first sorcerer in 400 years to possess both Limitless and Six Eyes, so my question is: how Yuta could actually obtain it without directly being a part of Gojo clan itself (because I simply do not buy the "it is possible because he is Gojo's distant relative" concept or idea, and in a very short time too? through what and how exactly? is it his copy technique? or Ui Ui's technique? did Yuta actually met Gojo personally or made a research about it before? most importantly, is this even possible?

in my personal opinion: if there is MORE to what Yuta can actually do that we are yet to witness, I think the very least he is capable to perform is the Limitless. with this, it will be aligned with Sukuna's thought as shown in the manga panel below (I shared this on twitter before I decided to talk about it on here)

we already knew that it has been highlighted that Limitless cannot be done without the existence of the Six Eyes, however, I recalled this note from Gege to explain Gojo's Limitless Cursed Technique:

to summarize, Limitless CAN be used by other sorcerers - especially the strongest aside of Satoru himself - only hindrance is the difficulty to perform it since it requires the Six Eyes to master the Limitless. others will only be struggling themselves harder when using it - shows how furiously amazing these abilities are and NOT EVERYONE is able to handle them without an immense amount of cursed energy.

what I want to explain here is that Yuta COULD POSSIBLY possesses the Limitless since he should not have any problem using it with the amount of CE he has + Rika's, but I bet their CE might run out faster due to the absence of the Six Eyes. if Yuta obtains the eye, just like Satoru, he will be unstoppable.

and lastly what I wanted to talk about is this "unknown figure" that shows up out of a sudden in the latest chapter :

I can only make some points here (I posted about this btw) :

this is Satoru and he made a BV to sacrifice his supposed left eye (in a correct position, it is on the right)

Still THE Gojo Satoru we all know but he is only just a ghost or hallucination of Sukuna - most probably PTSD.

narrator is using a JP word that describes this figure above as a "revenant" which means an entity that is reincarnated in other human's body. this brought many readers to speculate that a soul from thousand years ago reincarnated into that unknown figure (in case it was confirmed that this figure is not Satoru) and it was said to be Sugawara Michizane from Heian era.

to back up the third point, Kenjaku was said to be defeated twice by two different users of the Six Eyes in Heian era, and since we learned that Gojo clan descends from Sugawara Michizane - one of the renowned three vengeful spirits and Yuta is also a direct descendance - one of them could be reincarnated inside that "unknown figure" above. if they had a huge connection from those era, this might be their vengeful spirit.

Thoughts on JJK chapter 261 (Spoilers)

The Fuck

We start with Yuji's last attack and a redraw of last chapter's last scene. Yuji didn't manage to injure Sukuna's heart further and gets thrown to the side being forgotten immediately together with Todo because Sukuna has a new/old opponent now: fucking Yuta.

We do get one more panel of Yuji thinking of Choso which fits my recent post about Yuji's accumulated trauma. Other than that Yuji/Todo get sidelined for the rest of the chapter but that was needed to explain what the fuck Yuta had done

Also, Okkotsu Yuta is now on name-basis with Sukuna, a place only very few people have reached at this point like Fushiguro Megumi and Gojo Satoru.

When I first saw the stitches on Gojo's head, I thought of Kenjaku and Kenjaku only. Even after Sukuna called him Yuta I needed a moment to understand what had happened here. Do you all understand how awesome that is 👀 JJK has an active theory based fanbase and I at least have never heard or thought of this possibility 😣

We get a flashback to explain how we got to this point: the idea of taking over Gojo's body came from Yuta and most people were initially against it. Of note: Yuji was not part of this discussion probably for the same reason why no one told him about Todo.

We get a reminder why it has to be done this way but Maki throws in that Yuta's copy only lasts 5 minutes. So the question is, what happens when those 5 minutes are up?

Yuta dies because Kenjaku's possession ability needs to be active constantly

Yuta dies at some point because Kenjaku's possession ability needs to be activated again and again

Yuta's new body permanently becomes Gojo's body

Honestly, I don't think 3) will be endgame for Yuta. It might happen that he will become Gojo in body permanently but story-wise his death signs are through the roof. I don't believe that Yuta will survive inside Gojo 😢

1) is has to be false otherwise Kenjaku wouldn't be able to use other CTs like CM and AGS. 2) is a probable option as in Kenjaku had to intermittently re-activate his original CT but he still had the option of using other CTs as well.

Also, secret 4th option: Yuta dies but his body hopping shenanigans bring Gojo back to life.

It's good to see how Yuta is concerned about Gojo. Yuji would've been right there with him. He told Gojo about his plan but the guy was absolutely sure that he wouldn't lose anyway, haha...

Gojo speculates that Yuta might also be the descendent of the Fujiwara in addition to being one of the Sugawara and I'm not a genetics experts but I'm pretty sure that after 1000 years without migration happening in your family tree that you're descendent of everyone who lived that long ago. Except for Sukuna because he never had children.

Also, the original gang from JJK 0 came together to be part of some murder. The deaths of the higher-ups we saw at the very beginning of the Sukuna fight is now explained: Gojo killed them for a better future of the JJ Society but he was a little hesitant about it.

The flashback jumps first to Yuji's old friend who's name I forgot. We learn that his CT is sugar (??) based which leads to him becoming part of the medical team. Then the FB jumps to the aftermath of Yuta's fight against Sukuna: he was cut in half and is about to die

In a funny call back to when Yuji died at the Detention Center, Gojo is both dead and completely naked on a table. Just like Yuji, he also rises again albeit not completely alive when it comes to himself.

(Why did Yuta waste crucial seconds to put a shirt on?)

Shoko says that she fully sutured Gojo's bisected body and because Kenjaku's CT (as far as we know) only works on dead bodies, we have the confirmation that Gojo has indeed died against Sukuna. Except of course that he's about to be revived again.

Let's not forget that as far as Kenjaku's CT is involved, body and mind are treated the same. Something that will involve Gojo and his consciousness is going to happen at some point because of Yuta's decision to do this body hopping.

A new Domain Battle between Sukuna and GojoYuta is about to start. Yuta not only watched the previous battles, he also acquired Gojo's memories so it's exciting to see how that will play out.

It's also interesting how the visuals of the domain clashes changed so much. GojoYuta's is still the same (the first confirmation that a possessor can use the possessed's DE) while Sukuna's deteriorated somewhat, represented with the beastly construct in the background. He also has to use Gojo's handsign.

Break next week but now we can speculate to hell and back about what will happen now.

if you want my shortest possible argument, it's right there in the title: the expectation-defying romance of the speediest, jumpiest, sunniest and smiliest Ultimate Decoy versus the stony-faced, silent, seemingly impassive Iron Wall of Date. don't you just love it? i sure do <3

but just because I see it doesn't mean you do. if everyone saw it, it wouldn't be a rarepair, would it?

and if that's still not enough to convince you, buckle up for the long, LONG argument

before the first karasuno vs datekou match, aone doesn't pay hinata much mind, and hinata is TERRIFIED of aone, as many are. but once the match begins...

well, aone sure notices hinata now.

if you ask me, this match would be where aone's feelings for hinata first began. here's the handshake page again for good measure:

aone makes the first move, acknowledging hinata as a worthy opponent. also, just look at aone's facial expressions? he looks nervous. it's so cute. i love him

we don't see aone again until the spring high, when he first runs into hinata - where else? - at the bathroom, when hinata is already trapped between iwaoi and ushijima.

aone clearly already sees hinata as an acquaintance worthy of greeting (and also does not care at all about the seijoh-shiratorizawa beef and i love him) and hinata... well, he's still easily startled, but once he's realized who it is, he bows back - and thus begins a beautiful tradition.

during karasuno's match against johzenji, aone becomes defensive of hinata to futakuchi -

and not only do his teammates recall the friendship he formed with hinata at the interhigh, they note that this is one of the few times they've ever heard him speak. and it's because of hinata.

and after karasuno wins against johzenji...

aone asks his teammates to go on ahead so he can wait outside the gym and issue a challenge... not to karasuno, not to asahi, but to hinata. and hinata challenges him back. AND AONE SMILES.

and then once aone has left, hinata starts blushing and shouting nonsense because he has gay ADHD. this would be where hinata's feelings began, i think. he feels singled out and special, and it gets him fired up. he can't wait to face aone again! (also note, hinata doesn't get startled by aone anymore after this point.)

...but alas, things don't go their way, thanks to seijoh.

and after datekou's loss, when kogane claims he'll train harder to be able stop any attackers, no matter how "big and strong" they are, aone tells him this:

like. cmon. you can't deny. this is pretty damn gay!

we don't see aone at all during karasuno's matches against seijoh or shiratorizawa, or during the ball boy arc (though i'm pretty sure koganegawa does mention at least once during the training camp that aone respects hinata :3c). but he makes his return for the karasuno vs datekou practice match!!

hinata is finally totally comfortable around aone off the court, no longer jumpy and nervous. this match is also where the sugawara seal of approval makes its appearance!

i guess you could argue this also counts as evidence for futakuchi/hinata, or koganegawa/hinata, but they're not in this tournament, are they.

and god, just LOOK at all these other panels:

epic gay staring contests, with a corresponding anime screenshot for good measure;

hinata chipping away at aone's shell the Iron Wall;

aone delivering an incredibly powerful serve and hinata reacting with a flush while the lighting in the panel singles him out (gay awakening much?)

AND THE FINAL BOW!! THE DRAMA! THE CINNAMON TOPOGRAPHY!

in a way this bow is aone's curtain call - iirc, this is his final interaction with hinata in canon. but that doesn't mean he's not still around - datekou keeps an eye on karasuno throughout their battles on the nationals stage.

just look at that gay little sparkle. (also please appreciate what a bitch futakuchi is. i love him so much)

at this point i've pretty much caught up to where the anime has left off and i don't wanna spoil anyone who hasn't read the manga, so i'll stop here and make an even longer version later but know this: aone will keep watching hinata til the very end.

the Immovable Object: Aone Takanobu. the keystone of Date Tech's volleyball team, renowned for their incredible blocking technique. an eyebrow-less, stony-faced, silent, impassive, brick shithouse of a 16-year-old boy. terrifying even to those players older than him, he prides himself on not letting a single spike through, and shattering the will of many of the greatest aces in the prefecture. The Iron Wall of Date.

a study in contrasts. two competitors, skills perfectly matched to counter each other, personalities in stark contrast, are able to build a friendship built upon mutual respect for each others' abilities.
