Hinata laid in his busted bed,his eyes closed as he listened to the sound of the streets. He wished things were different,he wish he wasn’t a college drop out with barely any income. He wished he was living in luxury instead of living in poverty.

He eventually fell asleep,the thoughts remained. What would it take for him to be what he wanted?

//9:00 Am//Coffee Shop//

Hinata was behind the counter,taking orders as early from 6 to 11 am. He had to work himself to death if he wanted to even pay for rent,he was not blessed with a bill paying roommate. “I’ll get the money I swear” He said that so many times but he just sits in his room smelling like corn chips.

One customer was someone you didn’t expect to see in this part of town,slick gray hair,a fancy suit and tie. It wasn’t weird but it was out of the ordinary for sure.

“I’ll have a black tea.”

His smile was like a gift from the gods or something,unexpectedly he slid a card Hinata’s way.

“Huh..?”

The man didn’t say anything and just walked away to his seat,Hinata took the card and put it in his pocket. Was he gonna get a new job?! Nah,this probably has ulterior motives as all good things do.

The next hours of Hinata’s shift,he stared at the card, the guy’s name written and his phone number on the bottom of the card. Hinata was curious,what would happen if he called? Whatever it was he was curious.

//4:00 Pm//Apartment//

Hinata held his phone tightly as he dialed the number,he expected some type of fancy voicemail but the guy —Koushi Sugawara— actually answered.

“Koushi speaking.”

“uhm..”

Hinata had no idea what to say,this was a mistake already.

“Oh it’s you,the barista!”

The man on the line chuckled,god did it sound attractive..?!

Hinata shook his head of such thoughts.

“Why’d you give me your number…?”

“Because I like you of course.”

Hinata was slient,like?! This guy…there is no way.

“Like..like?”

“If it’s confusing then I adore you,admire you even.”

Hinata wanted to faint so badly but the thrill was keeping him awake,someone confessing ?! Well it wasn’t that bad,unless they have ulterior motives or something…

“O-okay..” The ginger couldn’t say a thing,it was awkward. He could barely even remember the last time someone confessed,embarrassing.

Hinata hung up and set his phone down on the nightstand next to his bed,what a night.

//7:00 Am//Shopping district//

Hinata took his day off,he had a few things on his mind,a new bed,some meat buns and possibly that guy he called last night. He zoomed throught the plaza,stopping when he saw a huge cake in the window. 3 tier strawberry cake?! He needed it! but he’s not that rich so he definitely has to budget.

He looked into his wallet,sliently counting his bills. Someone tapped on his shoulder and he jolted up,turning around to see that same guy from the shop.

“Did I scare you?”

He laughed,showing off his pearly whites

Hinata pouted and nudged him

“Don’t do that! I was trying to count.”

Sugawara smiled and pulled out his own wallet,handing it out to Hinata

“I don’t need your money..I have my own!”

“Take it,it won’t hurt.”

Hinata pouted and took the wallet reluctantly,putting his own back in his jacket pocket whilst looking up at the cake in the window once again. He drooled,he wanted to eat that cake a little too badly.

Sugawara chuckled and pulled the ginger inside the bakery,the place filled with pastries and desserts,even bread! The air was sweet and warm.

The two explored the bakery,mostly Hinata since he had such a sweet tooth,he looked like it was his first time here ever and it probably was.

“This looks so good…!”

Hinata held a small pastry with sprinkles and toppings on it,Sugawara couldn’t help but laugh at the childish behavior.

The two ended up coming out with everything except the cake,not like they could both eat it anyway.

“Thanks for the uh…cash!”

Hinata smiled a bit,giving the grey haired male his wallet back but Sugawara pushed it back into his arms

“huh..?”

“Keep it,it’s not like we won’t see eachother again.”

Hinata nodded and smiled a little more,how nice. The two walked around the plaza before calling a taxi,both of them leaning on eachother as they rode off to wherever.

it got me back into volleyball, which i had previously quit because i was the only one in my grade on my school's team, but i was able to remember how much i loved it and it made the depression recede a little. in short, haikyuu has saved my life
