throwback tuesday to that time when i took one of the few large lecture hall classes i ever took in college, a class on pre-1500s English literature, and the professor (a balding man with a British accent who banned computers because, according to him, he once caught someone watching Shrek 2 on a laptop during the lecture and he was upset it wasn't Shrek 1) stopped in the middle of talking about Beowulf to a hundred students to ask ME SPECIFICALLY (in the back half of the room but not all the way at the back) if I was using my smartphone under the table, so I had to lift up my hands and show him that no, I was knitting because the class had a bunch of printouts so I didn't need to take notes but the man wouldn't let me play spider solitaire or scroll tumblr and I had to do SOMETHING with my hands, and he was like, "ah, weaving peace I see. it seems we have the peaceweaver in our class" and then just carried on with things

Severus when he's sick

This is for sure not my best writing, but I wanted to upload something, and I just got rlly bad news so yeah. I hope you enjoy it if there's any feedback pls give it I am always trying to improve. I am currently working on something, and I am putting like my all into it and yeah, it's a work in progress. Also sorry this is rlly short

Warnings: Sickness, really bad writing, emetophobia

He will ignore the fact he feels sick for as long as he possibly can

No matter what you do you cannot get him to admit he is sick

He will be hacking and sneezing and throwing up all while saying, “No I’m FINE.”

Like a stubborn little child

While he is doing his power walk to the Great Hall Professor McGonagall sees him

He’s pale and sweaty and his power walk is not looking so good today

She is very motherly and in a very motherly was grabs him by the ear and drags him right back into his chambers

Which you are very grateful for

Because it was going to have to be you or her that did it and you did not want to have to be the one

When you finally convince him to stay in bed (Professor McGonagall tells him she will drag him back if he gets out of bed again) he just sits there and grumbles like a big baby

He is used to having to take care of himself when he is sick so having you there is very different for him, and he’s not accustomed to it

After you explain to Dumbledore the condition, he’s in he lets both of you take off for as long as you need

He falls back asleep pretty soon after getting back into bed and after

So, you join the poor sick man back in bed and fall asleep with him

You have to cuddle in a position you normally wouldn’t because he’s all congested and can’t breathe but he’s honestly just happy you're here

And your happy he’s resting finally

Only to wake up to him grumbling messing around in the kitchen attempting to make soup in his half-asleep sick state

You have to drag him to the couch and finish making his soup for him because right now he is a hazard

You have to explain to him that you are perfectly ok with taking care of him while he is sick and that he is not weak for needing it

He finally starts to believe you just a smidge as he eats

When he starts getting comfortable, he gets clingy

Like really bad

He’s going to find every excuse to have you near him no matter what and if you aren’t he acts like you just killed his puppy or something

After finally having someone to take care of him his body recovers quick

It finally can take time to rest and recuperate and not have to work so within the next two or three days he is ok even if he doesn’t take any healing potions or anything

However, he is eternally grateful for you helping him through his sickness

Because if it wasn’t for you, he would have had to just take care of himself and while yes, he would’ve been fine it is much nicer to have someone else dote on him and make sure he was properly hydrated and fed and even he couldn’t deny it

the 90s xmen series is being continued soon on Disney+ so before people start calling it "woke" let me bring up that the mutants are a blatant allegory for racism and discrimination. Prof. X is modeled after MLK Jr while Magneto is Malcolm X. To drive home the allegory, some of the mutants can "pass" as normal humans while others have phenotypes that let the regular humans know they're different.

its crazy how coming into clinical social work, i really just thought I was up against systems and cycles of trauma....but it turns out i'm up against those two things AND other therapists. the amount of work spent correcting mistakes from other clinicians--whether with clients or during the classroom--is fucking crazy.

i totally get we're all on different journeys in terms of being clinicians. but it is insane finding out day after day of therapists and clinicians saying the worst things ever to clients. demeaning them, telling them "it's all in their head", the racism and the ableism and harm that is caused. like no fucking wonder people are afraid to seek therapy (on top of the accessibility issues). while i'm a little biased and think that at the very least clinical social work training focuses on viewing people within their environments (so not engaging in the medical/individualist models of practice that a lot of counseling programs focus on), that doesn't mean it gives every person the skills to be an effective therapist. i'm also not saying i'm the best clinician ever--I'm literally in training--but boy! it is jarring seeing how some of my peers interact in class and wondering...is that how you are with your clients??

my social work program at the very least also has a focus on anti-racism, but i know students from other programs and some of them don't even mention racism AT ALL and focus entirely on diagnosing people "correctly", or finding the perfect form of therapy to use on a client. but man, what none of these programs teach are basic life skills. wanting to be a clinician isn't enough, especially considering that an inhumane amount of people in my program are 1. so nervous about making mistakes that they lose scope of their practice 2. have so much internalized racism/white guilt to work thru 3. or they have absolutely no listening skills.

again, im not trying to make it seem like I am the number 1 clinician in the world ever. I don't even have a psych background or bachelor's in social work. my reasons for going into social work are quite selfish (I want a job that is very flexible, easily transferable, and can be done in different contexts), and the helping people part is just a plus. i'm just saying it's very jarring seeing other people in training and realizing they too are working with clients. i have conversation after conversation about these issues with other BIPOC/queer/marginalized clinicians, so I know i'm not the only person worried about some of the people that will be out of this program in a few years practicing on their own or with vulnerable populations.

Also, like, if they do eebie Blue, you have to realize how much of a BIG DEAL that would be in the Pokemon World. Cuz ok, Anabel didn’t really leave anyone behind, no canon family and she even got to keep her mons. Ingo left behind his brother Emmet and his team, so that's more distressing of course. But Blue?

Blue wouldn't just leave behind a sister but also a GRANDFATHER. Y'know, motherfucking Professor Oak. AKA possibly the Biggest Name in canon, THE quintessential Pokemon Professor. And for all we joke about him forgetting Blue's name, lbr, he definitely loves both his grandchildren deeply. So if one suddenly went missing, there's absolutely no way he wouldn't cash in every favor and pull every string to bring them home safe.

And that doesn't even touch on Blue's connection with the Kanto League as both a former Champion and Gym Leader, his legendary friendship with Champion Red, and of course their work in the Battle Tree.

Blue Oak disappearing would be a National fucking Emergancy across numerous regions, the likes of which we have yet to see in Pokemon.
