now that we finally have s2 of t9s can i ask for your headcanons of jeia in this season? 🤭🤭

hi!! so I honestly feel like i'm completely lost on what I think is happening in the future? if you're asking for predictions, sadly idt I have any other than I think that they're hinting at #that ship getting together in pt 3, which makes little to zero sense considering they spent no time on them whatsoever. people rly building this nothing ass ship up over a SINGLE Convo they had....and by people, this allegedly includes the writers!! (callie hinting she's team n*ia is not a shock by any means whatsoever since she and max are close, but still smh)

headcanons that i'm choosing to believe tho? here's a couple of fun ones!

leia gets super into the idea of rock music (which in her mind, is anything not super pop/mainstream) and wants to impress gwen so they have more in common and asks jay to teach her to play the guitar! (she is rly bad. to everyone else. he thinks she is rly good.)

donna loves jay, which infuriates eric. she's charmed by him and sees how much he genuinely adores leia. eric doesn't gaf. that is michael kelso's son and casey kelso's nephew. its such a passionate hate that red finds himself sticking up for jay, has an existential crisis over what just came out of his mouth, and also gives eric an existential crisis bc if RED is defending a KELSO, he must actually be okay.

leia frets over what to do for jay for his birthday for legitimately a full month prior. she talks gwen's ear off, ozzie forbids her from bringing up the word "jay" in front of him. like its bad for her. she attempts to throw him a party at that cute lil place in the forest they go in s1 (i think was the same place in s2?) but it's literally the biggest failure w everything going wrong in typical sitcom fashion and she leaves crying bc she is so sad :( episode ends with them watching a movie in the basement snuggling on the couch and jay telling her it's his best bday ever!!

I think Neia is a pretty ship with great chemistry and I love what they could’ve been pre season two.

I also enjoy Niknate as a high school relationship despite not liking some of the aspects of them after the third episode of season one.

But in the long run and in canon part two-present? I don’t want either pairing to happen.

Neia admitted in the premiere that it wasn’t what they wanted, and basically that they used each other for comfort, so if they go there again, it would make no sense. Plus Jeia grew so much this season, and it would be a shame to jeopardize it all.

Niknate, on the other hand, would be full on character regression. They’re very incompatible and have different wants for their future. I fully believe that in order to get back together, they'd have to water themselves down and it'd stunt their growths in some ways. Even if I didn’t ship Gwikki, I still wouldn’t want Niknate as a couple again. I do feel like they’d be good as fwb again and then they’d end it b/c it isn’t what they want anymore. Or they just be friends and nothing more.

In conclusion: N*knate and N*ia both don’t work in the long run imo, but I know that writers are probably gonna go for them anyways. But I have hope that both will just remain friends and nothing more.

Do you feel like the characters aren’t getting the time they need to develop because of the smaller order of episodes per season?

And do you think they are doing storylines that might have been waited on if they knew they were going to be renewed? (Like Leia losing her virginity or Nikki and Nate getting back together)

I honestly never really thought of what part 3 would’ve been like with more episodes, but the eight episode mark is giving Never Have I Ever.

Like the final episode is GOOD, but in some ways it doesn’t give season finale (purely b/c of Jeia’s plot tho. It reminds me of A New Hope (and thank god the writers renewed more eps)), but in some ways it does? It’s weird for sure.

I do wish Betsy was in part 3 more, since she is Jay's sister, not just Nate’s love interest, but hopefully she’ll also be in part 4 (if it ever gets greenlit lol).

My current feelings on the T9S ships (updated)

I made this a few months ago and I thought since s2 is out, I can do this again.

Jay/Leia - I ship them even harder this season than the last because we get to see just how rock solid their relationship is. It’s like how Formciotti was a budding relationship in s1 and in s2, we see them mature. And I love their ‘I love you' arc! It’s so angsty and obstacle filled yet so them! I love how much Jay was willing to do to prove that he's changed. I can easily say that after watching this season that I can’t imagine Jay nor Leia with anyone else.

Gwen/Nikki - Still my otp of otps. I'm so happy to see more scenes of them just like I wanted. Nikki actually gets upset at Gwen for lying and the latter apologizes and is there for her. Their plot in Baby Baby Baby was also SO GOOD. It just proves why Gwen is Nikki's best option. Gwen challenges Nikki to get out of her comfort zone, and take risks. And Nikki is good for Gwen too! I feel like aside from Cole, Nikki really brought out Gwen's soft side this season. I actually have a feeling they'll end up being a thing. I hope they do.

Gwen/Cole - They were so sweet together imo. I loved seeing Gwen navigate a relationship for the first time, and I really like Cole. He’s such a sweetheart and makes Gwen really happy. I hope we see more of them in part 3. This is the only valid het ship for Gwen as far as I’m concerned.

Gwen/Leia - I love their dynamic, but I don’t ship them romantically anymore this season. They had cute moments, but for the most part, that romantic tension was gone this season. I do love seeing their friendship growing stronger and they truly remind me of Jackie and Donna, especially in the episode where Leia gives Gwen relationship advice.

Nikki/Leia - I honestly don’t know. I like how things were handled with them when it came to the Nate shit, and I loved their hug in the premiere 🥰. I'm not exactly in love with Nikki saying that Leia was "clueless" and like "a doll that was wished to life yesterday" (she’s not wrong tho since girlie was sheltered after till '95 😂) and obviously there’s the Nate stuff haha. But I like the bones we got and I think it'll be cool to see more of them in part 3.

Jay/Ozzie - I love their friendship, but I can’t see them romantically anymore, even if I didn’t only see Jay and Leia with each other 😂. I don’t see Ozzie being into Jay tbh, but who knows? Anything can happen.

Ozzie/Etienne - Etienne, you dickhead lol. Him dumping Ozzie through a phone call is so shitty and Ozzie deserves better.

Jay/Nate - Still love them. Even though Jeia is my heart, I still get Janate feels haha. I love how Jay was there for Nate during his breakup with Nikki. One thing about Jay Kelso is unlike his father, he's loyal as fuck haha. I really love their friendship in this season and I can’t wait to see more in part 3. No one gets Nate the way Jay does.

Nate/Leia - At this point, I only want them as Hyde/Donna friendship. Them being a couple at this point imo would make no sense. Both of them admitted it was just a heat of the moment thing and that they want Nikki and Jay. They still have great chemistry tho haha.

Nate/Nikki - I like their storyline a lot better this season. With them finally breaking up, Nate apologizing to Nikki, and their fwb arc. And they were so carefree and happy around one another.

But as a couple, I don’t want them back. It's like, they both are still on different pages when it comes to their futures; and I've talked how I believe that Nikki's current views on her future make them more incompatible so I'm not gonna do that again haha. Plus I feel like if they got back together, all that carefreeness and joy would be gone and they'd go back to constantly fighting.

I much rather them as friends or fwb than them becoming a couple again.

Hi friend you're officially legal wow! I love the toph + azula concept they're a similar age and it's wlw which is so good. I recently watched t9s and wanted to come into your inbox and share my ThoughtsTM

so like there were a LOT of weird parts about the show (jay trying to seduce leia's mom out of revenge was ???) but the actors were gradually figuring out their footing which was fun to watch, it felt less like flat disney channel line delivery at some parts. nikki and nate's actors did a great job with their acting for the breakup/post breakup plotline and I enjoyed watching their casual exes fling lol, even if it's not a good relationship it's really fun to watch onscreen.

all three girls are beautiful but gwen got insanely hot, i loved her hair and fashion she's so pretty. her actress had genuine chemistry with the Boyfriend (I already forgot his name he's just arm candy at this point) so that definitely made the overall show's acting a bit better as well.

the thing with the nate/leia conflict was that it was dumb because I get how they're both softies which lends itself to personality compatibility but I could not see it as a romantic ship at all, I'm not convinced that they're attracted to each other (the friendship interactions were barely developed) and it honestly felt random/designed to produce conflict. i can buy it on nate's side but not at all from leia's. however the thing where nate had to pretend she's gross is actually funny - overall the jokes and humor got a little bit better this season.

Haha I actually turned 18 over 6 months ago but ty! It took a while for me to terms with being adult ngl, but I ended up getting used to it. I still don’t know what the fuck I’m doing sometimes tho haha.

Ty! Toph and Azula are a two year age gap, so I feel like it’s very fitting. I just love the idea of them as enemies to gfs. I think in general, I have a thing for ships where two characters are "similar but different" (i.e. gwikki, tophzula, zenmasters, dair, etc). It’s just so fun to see them get closer and realize they aren’t so different after all.

I personally was fine with the acting, and the kids are 15-20 years old so I cut some slack lol. Also a hot take, but Jay trying to seduce Donna was funny as fuck idec. Like the music, Jay's mannerisms, Donna being like 'wtf', and Jay "turning Donna down". It was perfect imo.

Nikki and Nate soured for me after the 3rd episode of the first season, but I’ll admit that I love their fwb storyline in season two. I just don’t want them to get together and be a couple. I’ve talked about it here why I don’t want them again and I still stand by it. I just don’t want my girl (and Nate) being limited to that relationship haha.

When it comes to Nate and Leia, I hated them for so long until like March. Then I started shipping them for their potential, chemistry, and prettiness hahaha.

In canon, I don’t want Neia to happen tho. Aside from the fact that Jeia is my otp and I don’t anyone to touch them, in season 2, it’s canon that they only used each other for comfort so I can’t see them getting together at all haha.

Favorite storyline of “part 2”?

1. I actually do. Well, sort of lol.

Even though I ship Neia, Jeia has been my favorite canon couple and one of my biggest otps for so long. I’m glad they managed to work things out in a healthy way and start fresh in their new relationship.

What I don’t like is the writers trying to bring Niknate back. While I liked their storyline in this season and how much they’ve grown, I don’t want Nate to be Nikki’s only option and I feel that was treated as the case in the episode they start hooking up. Every potential option put for Nikki somehow doesn’t work out.

I do think them hooking up and the pregnancy scare was a good sl to watch, and I’ll admit, I have a lot of those feelings about them where I’m like ‘get back together’ because they were really cute. But I also feel like if they do, it’ll be Jelso 2.0 all over again.

Plus they’re still not really on the same pages in their future. Nikki has learned to try to keep her options open when it comes to her future, and I feel like that should apply for her relationship choices too. Nate isn’t the only option, and they’ve literally admitted in their breakup that their relationship is on edge and they were caring more about other people. Hell, Nikki seemed more hurt about Gwen lying than about Nate almost hooking up with Leia while they were still together (which as a Gwikki shipper, my feels are ⬆️⬆️⬆️).

2. Favorite storyline?

I loved Ozzie’s a lot. He was still sassy and quippy, but we actually got to see more layers. And him meeting more queer people means everything to me, and he deserves to have that companship (I’m def getting personal here but whatever 😂😂)

Gwen’s storyline with the shoplifting also broke my heart. I’m glad that an officer was by her side and made her realize that what happened wasn’t okay.

Nikki’s storyline is just flawless. I get why that’s Sam’s favorite season for her. We get to see so many layers and complexities in her character. The pregnancy scare one was so well handled.

I know I might probably be being too hard on Leia, and I know I might end up being wrong, but it’s just hard for me to think anything else about the scene because:

A - Most of the T9S writers are the same people who wrote T7S who had several characters (and Donna herself) act like Donna was doing Eric a favor by being with him.

B - Despite seeming different on the outside, Jeia is a lot like Formciotti in many ways. So it wouldn’t be surprising if Jeia got even the worst traits of Formciotti.

C - In all of their fights in S1, Leia was always in the right. Even when Leia was messing with Jay's head from the 4th episode all the way to the 5th, Jay was never mad at her and she was never properly called out aside from Gwen saying it was a 'crazy ass idea' once.

Which is why it’s hard for me to believe that it’s any different. Even though the other T9S characters aren’t actively acting like Leia is "too good" for Jay like how the T7S characters were with Donna being "too good" for Eric, there’s still that double standard of Jay being a player but somehow Leia doing the same is "badass".

Plus LP is directing the show and I wouldn’t be surprised if she believed Donna was too good for Eric, and then decided to pass that trait onto Leia, but that’s mostly just my hate for LP talking.

More T9S thoughts

As everyone probably already knows, I see Nate/Nikki as T9S’s Jackie/Kelso. And like I said? The first three episodes and some sweet moments proved they had potential to be more. But I personally think that’s ruined and it’s too late to fix that.

Nate almost kissed Leia and definitely would’ve gone through with it if Gwen hadn’t have walked in. And given that this literally happened three episodes after he acted like as Katie Matlin would say “a jealous jerk” about Nikki and Trevor when there was literally nothing between them. And even after that, he was clearly pining over Leia in that last scene and watching Jeia kiss in sadness with his girlfriend right next to him.

To me that’s literally unforgivable and Nikki should kick him to the fucking curb. Do I think they could’ve lasted had their relationship remained how it was the first three episodes? Yes. But after that? Fuck no. Nikki deserves so much better.

And even before that, instead of talking to Nikki about his feelings in KIA, he lied because he wanted to back Jay up and most likely he also didn’t want to fight with Nikki. Then brought it up to Leia and called Nikki “practical” for being realistic. And Leia’s response was even more annoying but I’ve talked about that.

Like why would Nikki ever be with someone like that again? Someone who doesn’t understand her ambitions and talk badly about her views on life. Fuck that. Nikki deserves so much better.

Now onto Nate/Leia…

Even though I hate the fact that they screwed over my favorite character in the finale, I do think there’s potential for them as relationship.

For starters, them having the same values and wants is a good foundation for their relationship. And they do have great chemistry imo. But another issue I have with them is that there isn’t enough substance in their relationship. What do they have aside from being hopeless romantics? There needs to be more than just similar wants in a relationship.

They definitely do have a spark and are comfortable with one another. And I love that Nate and Leia are able to cheer each other up. But what else? What does Leia like about Nate as a person? What does Nate like about Leia as a person? How do they make each other feel? What other things do they have in common aside from believing in fate?

Don’t get me wrong, that’s a very good foundation. But I also wanna see more. Even something as simple as activities they’d like to do together.

I used to not like Neia for the reason that we don’t see anything they have in common aside from the same wants in life. But honestly, I blame the writers more for not actually giving Nate and Leia more opportunities to develop a deeper connection.

I know I've called L*ndsey a Neia fangirl, but honestly looking at it now, I don’t think she cares about them much either. If she did, Nate and Leia would’ve had a lot more development and scenes with them alone early on. But that didn’t happen. Until Dirty Double Booker, Nate and Leia had little to no proper interactions when there could’ve been opportunities. For fucks sake, Leia is literally best friends with Nate’s sister. They’re in the same friend group. And I know that some bonds are stronger than others, but couldn’t they have had just a few interactions alone?

Like Jackie/Eric didn’t interact a ton, but they had some little interactions sporadically. And while I talk shit about Hyde/Donna and think they’d make a terrible couple, they had a good amount of interactions by themselves.

But, to be fair, there are 10 episodes in T9S currently and there are seven seasons of T7S. So it’s not fair to compare.

But Gwen/Leia had moments in every damn episode. Even in Boyfriend Day 1 & Summer Storm, they had a fuck ton of moments. Albeit not alone, but they still interacted and said words to each other.

Idk man I just wish Nate and Leia had more proper interactions. They have potential to be a genuine connection, but the writers seem to be having them as a plot device.

What's the scene that made you ship Jeia? I've watched T90sS and am actually the anon who admitted I think it's underrated :) And since you're so nice and don't mock our unpopular opinions, I'll confess that I like the T90sS core group more than the T70sS group overall. So with T70sS I (almost) always love the characters of Eric and Jackie, I sometimes love (but sometimes borderline hate) Hyde, I'm utterly "eh" at best on Donna, I range from eh to ugh on Kelso, and I usually dislike Fez. But while I can't claim to LOVE any of T90sS characters yet except maybe Leia, I actually really like all of them and think they have huge potential. I know their friendships and relationships aren't as well developed yet as the 70s show gang and the overall show isn't as smoothly paced or funny as T70s show yet either, but we've gotten so few episodes! Check out reviews from while S1 of T70sS was airing ---it took awhile for most people to be sold on the show. I still believe T90sS can be as good as T70sS and that I'll end up loving or at the very least liking all the core characters, while on T70sS during any given season I liked maybe half the group at the very most lol. Just my weird opinion!

For jeia, it was the scene where Jay didn’t kiss her because he thought she deserved a amazing first kiss (that’s how I saw it). And said that Leia was cute, smart, and interesting :)))))))

And t7s gang to me is a classic but I do agree that all the characters got screwed over in canon in a way. Jackie ending up with Kelso of all ppl, Fez being all pervy, etc. I did like his cameo tho, and Eric and Donna’s.

T9S has a lot of potential and I hope season 2 does justice to that potential.
