It's been so odd seeing Ghostf*ckers currently sitting at 7.9m views two weeks later despite the boost of Hazbin's launch and the other episodes not doing anywhere near as bad; anything you feel might've factored into it?

I've mentioned it before, but I am happy to explain my perspective again. I obviously don't have the complete picture in front of me, so it's really only a grain of salt. More of a thought experiment than anything else.

For starters, the spike in views following Hazbin was a predictable boom and bust situation. There is a give and take with different styles of streaming, specifically around the trickle or binge models. More people will watch a series that is available to be binged vs one that is still in progress. Like some people who wait for the entire season to drop before picking up a new show. These sorts of drops see huge initial views, but people stop talking about the shows much faster.

The overlap of cultural impact as well as financial success makes Binging content appealing to the finance people, but the real money comes from maintaining cultural relevance. Which is why binge releases are generally criticized, especially by artistic people.

On the flip side, episode by episode releases, especially those like webcomics and web series need to maintain a sense of consistency to retain an audience. There must be deadlines that are achieved relatively consistently. It's even more important for content that is hosted on algorithm-heavy platforms like YouTube. It's why most content creators have an upload schedule to maintain their algorithms and promote their channel being recommended.

This is especially important on social media platforms because, generally speaking, only 10% of your audience are actually subscribed. While YouTubers don't get paid based on their subscriber count, it's used similarly to viewership. A channel like Mr. Beast has deals with mainstream studios like Amazon because of his subscriber count, in junction with the number of views he accrues.

The 10% active subscriber count is actually seen as a general positive so long as your views stay around that number, because it means others are being recommended your channel outside of your base. Once you get stuck in your "base" you're waiting for that thing ice to finally break. It means no one is discovering you and your legitimately risk losing everything. Most often from stale content, people becoming bored or disillusioned with what a creator is creating. And having no fresh eyes on your content, you will disappear in the algorithm eventually. For some people it means they can still survive just fine doing the same old things, for others (usually those who see the money before the art) it means the loss of everything.

The issue with inconsistent uploads is a major one that Medrano actually beat in the first season. The Vivziepop channel was so infrequently uploaded on, episodes being posted essentially the moment they were done, and yet Medrano maintained 35 M - 50 M views an episode (until Ozzie's which topped out at 28M before Hazbin Hotel, Medrano's first attempt at writing for the series).

So what I mean to say with that information is Medrano actually succeeded against the odds for the first season. She should have faded into obscurity, but the support for her show was legitimate and beat the odds of an inconsistent uploads schedule. I was never subscribed to her channel and didn't have Twitter until this year, but I would search Vivziepop every 3-5 months and usually saw a new episode had been uploaded in the last week to a few hours prior.

So while this is anecdotal, I'd argue that it was the general norm at the time. Reaching 35M when you only have 8.6M subscribers necessitates genuine effort of the part of the watchers to seek out the content themselves. And that's a good thing. You want people to be motivated to seek out your content on their own volition.

With that said, it explains all the possible, and probably, issues being had.

1) Upload Fatigue

Since viewership has fallen, Medrano has been posting more frequently to her channel. Mostly low-effort Vlog content that her main base is legitimately not invested in. People who love musicals and Broadway would recognize the low quality musical fodder Medrano creates. Animation fans, meanwhile, are not interested in celebrity actors being friends with Medrano.

That sort of content is what you see on Adin Ross' channel. If you don't know who that is, think Andrew Tate, but somehow more pathetic. The TL;DR is that his claim to fame was playing a video game with LeBron James' son. That's not what most people are really interested in, unless they carry the same fundamental psychology of the 'Man-osphere" or conservative grifters.

Additionally, these videos don't hit that 10% subscriber base. With 10.4 million subs, her lowest performing videos should still hit at least 1.4million views. Her major sale videos (Halloween and Valentine's mainly) still see this proper 10%

But the Vlog videos...

It isn't surprising that the video focusing on the fans being seen with Medrano and her friends would be the most watched, because of this mindset of piggy-backing self-worth off of someone else's name.

So for the fans that actually like the show, or at least want to support the series, are now being hit with a ton of videos they don't care about. Which can and usually does result in a loss of subscribers or your subscribers turning off their notifications for your channel.

2) The Show Left it's Base

Hazbin being aired on Amazon introduced many people to Vivziepop. There is a sense of quality that one expects from a big name like Amazon, regardless of how most of their shows they directly fund are not that great. But with the series leaving it's base, it offers new fans while threatening, and definitely delivering, a complimentary spike in criticism. Many people who would have accepted a subpar web series are going to be far more harsh of a show with a studio behind it.

With more voices discussing the issues of the series, it teaches people how to identify sub-par content and a lot of those people will lose interest in it once they realize the show isn't actually quality.

There are far more videos discussing the issues with Hazbin than there are of Helluva Boss for this reason, but once the luster is removed from one, inevitably it will impact the other.

3) The Story Sucks

This is obvious as we see more fans becoming less enthusiastic about the story. A badly written show can and will still be loved by those who love it. But it has become more obvious that the writing isn't subversive, just negligent. The characters aren't complicated, they are puppets. The creators aren't creative, they are regurgitating tropes without substance. The emotions are hollow.

But worse than any of that is that the show is contradictory to itself. Which makes the show feel unreliable, but that leads to the last point:

4) Medrano Exposed Herself as an Unlikeable Person

Medrano's description for Apology Tour exposed her to her YouTube base. YouTube is a place that craves authenticity, to the point they have manufactured it. There is a right and wrong way to be on YouTube, and the right way requires a ton of accountability, even when you probably don't owe anyone it. But accountability is something you must have on the platform, and Medrano was a bit too personal in how she made excuses for Stolas while not playing an even hand towards her main character.

That sort of attitude, fictional or not, will result in people turning their back on you. People have lost their whole channels over the same attitude. And the way Medrano handled it was responding to her twitter fandom criticizing the show, letting everyone know she doesn't see anything wrong with the behavior being expressed.

And that doesn't really sit well on YouTube. Not in the communities she's trying to cater to.

And like I said, this is all with a grain of salt as I can't say for certain. To be safe I believe a little of all of these play a role in Medrano's decline, but all of it is just my opinion.

With that said, to see such a steep decline of almost 50% of your audience, while knowing that many of those who are still fans are viewing each episode about 1-2 times a day for about a week, that means 2 in every 5-7 views are the same person. So 8M, while respectable for the platform, is a huge blow.

i saw some wondering about what the major Season 3 conflict between Polin is going to be focused on and

it's Whistledown. It was ALWAYS going to be Whistledown

i think a lot of people look at Polin or S3 from Pen outward, as in, they focus on her perspective and her reasons and her justification and project that onto other characters, but the idea that Whistledown is just a minor bump in the road in Polin's love story is ridiculous. Colin's comment about not courting her can be resolved in a single episode. Hell, less than a single episode. A heartfelt apology, an 'I missed writing with you', a 'okay, I'll help you accomplish your goal of finding a husband this season' and it's wrapped up and tidy but Whistledown? Whistledown is the overarching conflict of Season 3. What to do with her, how people will find out, and how Penelope will grow beyond her (because she HAS to grow beyond her)

Whistledown is already the tension point between Eloise and Penelope, why do we think it won't be a problem between Pen and Colin? All her reasons and explanations aside, she has been keeping this secret from him for years. She has had plenty of opportunities to confide in him and didn't take them. She very clearly feels guilty (going so far as to tell him she doesn't deserve praise for her loyalty). Narratively speaking, if you look at LW from anyone else's perspective but Pen's, she's the antagonist.

And he falls in love with her. He falls for the antagonist. Who is also his friend. (GOD is that gonna be good)

Admittedly, it's more evident she's the antagonist when looking through Marina's eyes, or the Modiste she ran out of business, or The Queen, but even to him it still holds true. Just put yourself in Colin's shoes. Just for a second. Try it.

You have known this girl for years. You're friends. You trust her. You talk to her about everything, though she's a little shy to open up, herself. You write to her and confide in her. For three years, someone has been out there putting private business on blast to your ENTIRE community. (you can pick so many mediums here: a burner account on social media, a gossip article in the newspaper, a series of anonymous posts on the neighborhood watch app, a tea channel with an animated host and a voice modulator that namedrops to thousands of subscribers: doesn't matter) All the people around you, your sister, your family, your friend herself.

And one day, it's you. Your personal business out there for hundreds to see, to know. Your name smeared across the internet or in your general community. Your privacy that got taken away. It split you and your ex up. You can't go anywhere without your community looking at you a certain way. They know your name. Your face. The face of your previous partner who has to leave town in the aftermath. She listens as you lament about it. She does not come clean.

And then you find out: it was her. And she didn't tell you. She didn't ask if you wanted to be helped or written about. She didn't come to you in friendship, respecting your boundaries and your relationship. Does she get defensive about her actions? Does she justify them? Does she apologize?

Hey there! Just wanted to say that your art is really nice (a friend of mine enjoys TDI) and that I appreciate you uploading Ponder Sprocket's streams (as someone who watches/listens to her stuff every so often).

I also have a tiny question for you: I don't know if you're aware of all of the controversies associated with Lio Convoy and the Senate/Cat's Lair (I've heard about them in passing but I can safely confirm that the whole thing is an utter mess, which makes me glad that I don't hang in those circles TBH). B/Ponder unfortunately got dragged into some of these controversies. IF you are aware of them and/or are comfortable with answering (please don't stress if not), I was wondering if you (A) had any thoughts on B's involvement in this and/or (B) have streams downloaded where she talked about it.

My personal thoughts on B's involvement in this (feel free to disagree with me on this): Given factors like her mental health, part of me has been concerned that this situation is - to some extent - a repeat of what happened with the Feghost situation (B being manipulated/controlled/lied to by someone else). Kudos to her for confronting Lio and others during the Rosa Rey Ramsey call (if you know, you know) tho. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if Akumu (one of Lio's biggest critics who - for readers who don't know - spread misinformation that B corrected about the whole Madame debacle back in 2019) decided to slander B a few times just to get back at her, showing to me that he clearly has not changed.

2) I'm somewhat aware of the Lio Convoy and Senate stuff. I was subscribed to Lio for a short time before everything basically fell apart, and I'm currently following him on Twitter, where he will occasionally bring up his controversies and where people comment about it under his other posts that have nothing to do with his controversies, mostly just to see if there are any updates to the situation. But I mostly avoid it because the situation gives me anxiety (even though I have no involvement in it whatsoever); I'll look at some of the stuff coming out about it, but not very often. All the stuff happening is actually part of the reason I wrote out the VODs channel update, besides all the stuff happening in my real life.

My thoughts on B being involved: I really don't think B should have to get involved at all. This situation - based on what I know - has little to nothing to do with her. She has made videos with Lio, as Lio has with her, but that's basically all they have to do with each other. Essentially, they knew each other, and now B has to deal with whatever he's dealing with because they worked together in the past. I think that's stupid. If she wants to get involved, then whatever, but from what I know, people kinda immediately assumed she was either going to talk about it (regardless of it not really being her business) or was going to make a video on it (despite knowing she takes months to make videos and that she's trying to move away from this stuff).

VODs: I don't think B has streamed at all since this whole situation blew up. Not because of this situation, but because I think she's taking a break from streaming in general? I'm not sure. I just know that it's been a while since I downloaded a stream. I'm hoping it's because she's actually taking a break and not because she's stressing out. (Edit: Just checked. The last time she was live - according to Twitch - was May 16th. So if she has said anything about this, then it's through Twitter or YouTube comments, most likely.)

The next part is just me responding to your thoughts.

With the FCK stuff that happened before people began to more harshly criticize Lio for the Rosa call (which I think I have watched some of), B's probably under a whole lot of friend and co-worker-related stress right now. (I know for a fact that NezzieMonster is under a lot of scrutiny for it right now, but I'm not totally sure about others she was close with or worked with in the past. I'll watch a video about it soon.) Then there's DoodleTones leaving YouTube (at least for now). She's probably getting a lot of comments about this stuff, too, because people want to hear about what she has to say about everything that's going on with said people and if she's still going to stay acquainted with them.

I have been seeing Akumu everywhere. I know for a fact that he doesn't like anyone in the art commentary community, which I can kind of understand to a point (I mean, if you had a video made against you, regardless if either of you was in the right or not, and then people - who barely understand the situation more than you did as a teenager - started harassing you for it, you would probably start to dislike that community as well). But at a certain point, it just looks like he's dancing on the graves of anyone involved with the ACC. I don't really like him purely because he acts higher than thou and is kind of obnoxious, in my opinion, like... it feels like he just has to be right, so he just keeps on pushing. Plus, I just kinda don't like the edgy thing he does where he pictures his persona with a noose around the neck.

I will say he has been doing a lot about the FCK stuff. I'm not sure if the victims are aware of his videos or if they're to their liking, but I haven't seen the victims say anything bad about the videos, so... I don't think he has slandered B, and I don't think he has tried to, but he does seem to nitpick a lot of what she has said in previous videos.

I'm tired while writing this out, so I hope you get what I'm saying lol. Looking at everything going down is stressful and anxiety-inducing, and I can only imagine what it's like for the people involved. I'll try to get to uploading more VODs soon; I am so far behind lmao

this is kind of random but it is very sad to me how cruel people who watch ballet are to ballet dancers. i've been uploading ballet videos (mostly of the vaganova, mariinsky and bolshoi) and people are just so strangely mean to everyone, even if the girls are still teenagers. at one point i uploaded a video of koshkaryova and valiullina debuting in a role together and the comment section was just full of relentless comparisons. bashing on sofya's weight (imo she looks the same as she did when she graduated...she has always had this build and it's never seemed to hold her back), calling masha robotic or boring (imo unjustified considering the video itself)...it's just so unnecessary for people to take sides and yet there's like 50 comments just fighting over who's better. both sofya and masha have found my channel at different points and it grosses me out to think there's a chance that they've seen comments like that. I know it's only worse on telegram so I assume they've got thicker skin than that, but it still sucks and makes me wonder if i should be deleting comments, but it's rough when every other comment I get is negative. I can't keep track of that.

i am not joking when i say i can count on my fingers the number of "regulars" I have who are kind to everyone and i can rely on them to say nice things about the dancers. i remember their names. that's how sparse they are.

surprisingly the only recent video I've uploaded where there was zero hate was a random short which went viral to 1M views (ie youtube recommended it to a much wider audience, outside of the usual ballet channel subscribers) and the audience was mostly people who don't know about ballet. they were so impressed and so kind. and that makes me sadder because that means the general public has more compassion and love for dancers than those who claim to be ballet fans, balletomanes etc. you like ballet but you can't even refrain from insulting the dancers? :(

I am so sorry to hear this, this was one of my biggest apprehensions when I started this blog. I was scared that it would have a lot of negative criticisms towards dancers, and they are people who have access to this content. I can't imagine how it is in your place, with everything you're describing!

It is true that they did enter the industry knowing that they will be in the public eye. I don't think that is a valid reason to be mean towards them though. Yes, critics are involved in the profession, but there is a kind way to give corrections. We also have to acknowledge the experience level of these dancers, I don't think a lot of people realize just how young they are (Masha and Sofya, in this case).

without wasting time on clickbait rubbish, let's get right into the video. we all know the internet's current favourite 'it-couple', aka xiao and y/n from genshin impact's liyue third generation. however, i'm here to tell you why they are the most awful and toxic pairing to exist in the streamer fandom, and i've literally been shipped with tartaglia. speaking of which, go check out my other video on why his views have been declining recently! but anyways, before we delve into the deeper stuff, don't forget to hit the subscribe button and click on the bell to get notified whenever i post new videos - you wouldn't want to miss any, would you?

well, now that that's over... i'll start off by saying to please not send hate to any parties involved in this video. kidding! i genuinely could not care less whether you do or don't. as long as you don't say it's from me, you're in the clear, and that's just because i seriously don't want to get demonetised again.

i'd also like to mention that i'm a pretty diehard fan of xiao. that's a lie, i'd never heard of him before he was hired by genshin. but! i did some digging, with some assistance from my talented friend who prefers to be known only as 'the crimson witch', and found his past life. if you're unfamiliar with streamer terms, that's just slang for a persona a streamer used to play before they either retired or signed up to a company. i doubt any of you know who xiao used to be, as it's considered bad taste to doxx a streamer's previous character, but fun fact; i don't give a [####]! ah [####], now i've got to cut that out so i can still get ad revenue.

xiao's former life was as none other than part of the five famed yakshas! this is basically his tragic backstory, which then led to him signing up for genshin and being catapulted into worldwide fame and fortune; jeez xiao, save some main character moments for the rest of us! he used to go by alatus, and in case you don't know what happened to the yakshas, here's a quick summary. while they were famous for creating content as a group, one of the girls was accused of having a relationship, and the internet went wild. i'm talking mass unsubscribing, hate comments, dislike bombing - and not just on her account, on all five of their accounts and their shared account. things only got more heated when a respected updates channel, guess who? if you guessed yours truly, you're absolutely right! if you guessed anyone else... why are you even here? anyway, i posted a huge video about it, which actually kickstarted my career, and well, basically ruined theirs.

the entire internet hopped on a giant bandwagon of hating on them until finally, the group could no longer tolerate it, and the five yakshas were disbanded. nobody knew what had become of each of them, at least until now! i've solved the grand mystery of who xiao is, and now i'll get into why he shouldn't be with y/n.

first off, i pity xiao, okay? i made that video for clout and it actually worked, i didn't expect the yakshas to dissolve because of it. and so i want what's best for xiao, because he deserves some happiness after such a terrible sobstory. therefore, i believe that he shouldn't be with y/n at all! how long have we known her? only around a couple months, which as confirmed by venti's interview, is the same amount of time xiao's known her. yet in that short duration, y/n's been proven countless times to be a terrific flirt, constantly buttering up others in collabs with stupid pick-up lines and flirty expressions. honestly, the second-hand embarrassment i get from some of her videos is almost overwhelming. xiao, meanwhile, is the polar opposite; he's quiet, reserved, and barely does collaborations. y/n is hanging onto genshin impact by the skin of her teeth with the collabs, while xiao can hold his own in terms of content. at least his is watchable and doesn't make me want to bang my head against the wall.

xiao deserves better, because even if he's mooning after y/n, she doesn't even bother giving him a second glance. she treats him the same way she treats everyone else, like objects - another reason why you shouldn't support her. xiao is probably pretending to like her, which is understandable considering how many views their collabs get. human fall flat, valorant, gartic phone with the entire third gen, it's all great business sense, really. people are suckers for the grumpy boy sunshine girl trope, and they know that and make the best use of it. it's just a ploy to get more money from you, both from ads and superchat donations.

overall, xiao and y/n suck together, mainly because of how their relationship is obviously being faked for views. however, it seems like xiao might actually be catching feelings, which is also horrible because he deserves someone more caring and loving than the playful and childish y/n. especially after his backstory, that boy must have severe trust issues, so it's better for him to be saved from this before things get messed up and he ends up heartbroken.

sjjssiissoas ok so I'm just browsing youtube as usual and I see a LEGO stop-motion video. And I see it, it's like someone making a wooden duck toy but with LEGO blocks, in stop-motion, and I'm like oh that's pretty neat! I wonder what else this channel has? And they have more stop motion LEGO videos, yeah...and their featured one (you know, whatever is the big one that appears when you click on a channel) is the fucking. Passion Of Jesus Christ. In LEGO stop motion. Right under a "subscribe and buy our merch!" banner.

And this us already hilarious and I could've ended the post there but there's more. See, in this video (or at least in their own comment for the video) they promote a Christian Movie by "their friend", called Because Of Gracia.

Now just out of curiosity I watch the trailer they linked, expecting it to be terrible, and...it doesn't look too bad at first. Bland, sure, and it's about a basic heterosexual romance, but it seems to be generally ok and even just promoting good values, you may not even realize this is a christian movie! It seems generally harmless and mediocre (ok ignoring the fact Gracia, the main romantic interest who is also Latina, has her first line in the trailer be "just call me Grace :)" idk I feel that's problematic) until we meet this guy.

Now if you couldn't tell by how he looks or the only line he says, "just because something is improbable, you assume it comes from a higher power", this guy is the straw atheist™. And honestly he's not even making that bad a argument like...
