ikkaku-of-heart: @ikkaku-of-heart
While she had faith that, insane as all of this sounded and as secretive as he was being, Law did have a solid plan going on, Ikkaku hated how it seemed they weren’t on the same page anymore. Hell, she was beginning to wonder if they were even in the same playbook. They used to be so in-sync when it came to causing problems on purpose, especially for the Marines. As of late, though, it felt like they couldn’t communicate properly. Misinformation, being left in the dark, assumptions and tempers getting out of control on both ends. Things had been an utter mess since they’d entered the New World, and Ikkaku was aware that they were both, unfortunately, at fault for the bad state of their teamwork. It was tempting to just rip up the fake blueprints she’d started and demand he tell her what the hell he wanted from her, but she kept her temper in check. Law was under a lot of stress. Probably even more than she was. More importantly, she just didn’t want to argue. She was too tired. She hadn’t been sleeping great since her captain had handed over those 100 hearts to the World Government, and every time he walked into a Marine base for a Warlord meeting, she feared he might not come back out and they’d all end up thrown in Impel Down. She’d had more than a few nightmares about that exact scenario recently. Ikkaku was frustrated, scared, tired, and it felt like she had no direction in either this current plan nor the overarching one. But while she doubted he’d be any more willing to divulge what his master plan was any more than any of the other times she’d interrogated him, Ikkaku had to have faith that Law would at least let her in on this one. Especially if she tried asking nicely. “Law, I’m occasionally a miracle-worker, but unfortunately, I’m not quite a mind-reader,” she sighed, though she reached up to squeeze his hand in a way she hoped would indicate that she wasn’t mad at him - just frustrated at his vagueness and the whole situation. “What you’re suggesting...it doesn’t sound like anything that could work with a whole-ass ship. Sounds more like something that would work better on maybe a smaller vehicle, or maybe some weapons.” Which would honestly be preferred. Even if inaccurate, the blueprints to the Polar Tang were a dangerous thing to give out. Pulling out a few blueprints of failed prototypes to weapons she’d brainstormed in the past, she looked up at her captain. If they wanted their plans to work, she needed to listen, and he needed to actually tell her what he was thinking. They needed to work together to protect their home, their crew, and their tech. “I think...what you’re meaning is that you want something like an engine that looks like it could go into an automobile, but won’t actually hook up the way they’re thinking. Or a gun with a trigger that looks like it would work, but actually won’t. Am I picking up what you’re putting down here?”
There is a pause in her work and a tension in Ikkaku’s shoulders that tells Law she is still agitated. That she’s frustrated and angry at him. His jaw tightens and his brow furrows. He’s come to her for help with something really important and if this turns into another argument about his grand plan and how she hates being kept in the dark Law is going to be so fucking pissed off. Sometimes, especially lately, he’d really like his crew to shut their fucking traps and be professional about this. He is the captain. He is the one that makes the final decisions and having a crew that will obey him unquestionably shouldn’t be this hard. It feels like pulling teeth to get any sort of co-operation out of Ikkaku lately.
But he supposes he should calm his own speeding brain and give her some credit, because Ikkaku doesn’t end up snapping at him. Instead, she speaks in an even and calm tone. Her hand takes his, giving it a squeeze in an attempt to reassure him. Law’s jaw shifts in its sockets and he tugs his hand back, arms crossing over his chest. He’s also annoyed because he isn’t trying to keep Ikkaku in the dark about his goals here. He’s just clearly doing a really bad job of explaining what he wants. He frowns, an annoyed grumble sound in his throat. He says nothing though, instead listening carefully to what his engineer has to say.
And, of course, she proves herself to be as brilliant as he knows she is, because she gets it.
“Yes! Exactly! That’s what I want,” Law says, uncrossing a hand to wave it at her. “This is why you’re my engineer. You know how this shit works, and I don’t. We need to give the Marines something to satisfy their demands and distract them long enough that they won’t ask for anything else for a while. I want to give them something that will ultimately be useless, even if it looks like it’ll work.
“Misdirection, obfuscation. All that manipulation shit I’m good at. Just with blueprints, which you’re good at.” He takes a breath, hand rising to rub at a pair of tired eyes. “And look, I wasn’t tryin’ to keep you in the dark with this. I guess I just … explained it badly.”

inflicting LOST on Gregg is so much fun. he was getting into the television anthropology approach, having fun breaking down the way Hurley is a template for the audience self-insert that is mandatory in any show aimed at millennials nowadays, but since Jorge Garcia is able to barrel the camera without making you *feel* he is, it's much less jarring than the derivatives of the character you see now. but THEN he noticed them unearthing a VW bus from the seventies
"wait. what? i'll allow a lot, but there's no way the tires look like that after 30 years in a fucking jungle. it would be way more overgrown than that. if they fix it, are they really expecting us to believe the gas is still good?? they don't have anything to repair a bus with anyway!!"
i told him that yes, they do, they have all the scrap from the plane, just to make him so frustrated that he'd have to lie down for 20 minutes. i can still hear him muttering "with scrap?? scrap?" under his breath, lmao

I recently watched the Yellow Submarine movie and realized that my favorite part of Psi King's song is a reference to the Nowhere Man song in the movie.
(PS Nowhere Man is one of my favorite Beatles songs)

i try to love everybody and you do you and live your life etc but sometimes julia does shit while playing video games that makes me seethe with genuine murderous rage like. wtf do you mean you're reading the coordinates differently. why are you doing the y-value first. were you born on a different planet.
#sometimes the way her brain works drives me fucking insane#'the iron lung' game from a newer vod#it's all about like blindly steering a submarine just using a map and x and y coordinates#and for some reason she keeps planning for and reading and locating the y-coordinate first.#i KNOW there's no problem like it works the same#theres no reason you have to do x first#but you DO. we do x first! we always have!#wtf!#secret sleepover society#also the noise-gate or w/e tf is driving me craazzzzyyyy for some reason#the little cuts in and out of the room tone is more distracting than it just always being there#and julia's heavy breathing always picks up for some reason#which like. im not trying to be an asshole you need to breathe. but its irking my brain so bad#the breathing is sensory hell#i want to like their vods so bad but they drive me insane

some of y'all are so entitled. i can't believe some people are mad 'cause the US Navy's TOP SECRET detection system heard the implosion days ago and didn't say a thing. like, sweetie... the government don't rly owe anyone top secret information, and they probably wanted to make sure that it was them. their detection system was built for any kind of enemy submarine that might be around the area. it could've been them, but it also could have been someone else. thank God the military don't manage situations the same way you do.

@ikkaku-of-heart liked [+] for a Warlord Law starter.
Law’s brow is somehow furrowed deeper than usual. Another useless visit to Marine HQ has left him more than a little pissed off and this time it’s got nothing to do with that grinning pink bastard. It’s the Marines that have fed his ire with their incessant questions and demands. Every time he docks here someone tries to weasel their way onto the Tang, wanting to find schematics and other documents they can use to steal the design and every time Law has to make it really clear that isn’t part of this deal.
But this time they took it another step farther. Seems like the niceties are ending and he’s gonna have to front up something to keep this charade going long enough to get the information and access he’s after. Well, if he has to give a little to milk everything he can from this role then so be it. He’ll just have to find a way that doesn’t leave his crew at a disadvantage. Which is why he’s heading into the Tang’s engine room.
The surgeon strides into the room, taking a breath of the oily scents and letting the sounds of his home relax him. He crosses his arms, eyes close for a second as he centres himself. Then he leans on the door frame, eyes scanning the place until he finds his engineer. Although, he does hear a clang before he sees her.
“Ikkaku?” he projects into the room, head tilting as he wonders what exactly she’s tinkering with. “You in here? I need your expertise for somethin’ underhanded.”

#re: previous reblog: this is also why i don't like Anticapitalist Onboarding Rhetoric that borrows the narrative tropes of Grand Conspiracy#sorry but genuine systemic analysis is fundamentally incompatible with the image of a Secret Room full of malicious cackling puppetmasters#like is that not the WHOLE POINT..? that there are conditions under which Bad Things can perpetuate themselves absent Bad Actors..?#(like we could evaporate all Racist People with an anti racism laser tomorrow but b/c of current inequalities in income housing school etc#without actual wealth redistribution that won't actually FIX the inequality because it's entrenched enough to have become self sustaining)#idk maybe it just exists disproportionately where i've been looking but i feel like i'm seeing a huge upswing over this past year#in people who act as if the only two narratives are 'Everything Wrong is Your Own Fault' or 'Someone is Fucking With You on Purpose'#& i've felt like a crazy person for a while shouting about how leaning into the rhetoric & mentality of the second one is NOT HARMLESS#just because you point it at some person/people too powerful for you to really materially do harm to.#(introducing it under those parameters alone doesn't domesticate it! doesn't make it Safe to keep with you in your brain house!)#like i didnt Really Not Enjoy the gleeful countdowns of 'only x hrs of air left in that submarine lol' b/c of my deep love for billionaires#but i was struck by how many selfdescribed leftists really do seem to want to act as the agents of an equitable redistribution of suffering#& that just...doesn't ever lead anyone to good places. & it feels insane that i have to say that lol. but i'm right. & it doesn't.

Submariner Summer 16
Ok all, lets go! It's part 16 of #SubmarinerSummer with Tales to Astonish #83: The Sub-Mariner STRIKES! Hulk has cover-duty, but the Title page has Namor coming right for us as he launches himself at Krang's ship. We have Kirby himself on art this ish, so lets enjoy that treat
Right away we're hit with a text wall as they catch us up to the story and narrate the action Silve Age-style, but the action isn't long arriving as Krang's first shot misses, but our Prince of Atlantis does NOT
Namor manages to be magnanimous and offers Krang the chance to surrender, but Krang isn't interested and tries running towards the city in the most hilarious piece of bad judgement ever: "Maybe Namor won't endanger New Yorkers?" AJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJA! 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Dorma is trying to talk Krang down, but Krang knows Namor won't stop and he has no intention to either. He blasts him with the next weapon on deck and gets Namor dead on, hoping to hit his "weak spot" (spoilers: this weak spot is definately headed for retcon land). In any case it doesn't work
Namor crashes onto Krang's ship, but at this point we get an interesting plot twist/crossover, sort of. Over in the Hulk stories, the Secret Empire has been clashing with the Green Goliath. Now, that group's Number One sees Namor, and wants to use him against Hulk!
Meanwhile on Krang's ship, Namor manages to get to a window and Dorma finally realizes his rage when she sees his face, and he hers. Just as he crashes through, though, Krang manages to use another of his many weapons to knock him back into the water
The Secret Empire's Number One approaches, planning to wipe Namor's memory to make him a pawn. Meanwhile Krang launches his last resort: the "fleet destroyer", a fission bomb. That's right, he tries to nuke Namor! Namor however manages to destroy it before it can fully activate
Krang takes the opportunity to flee, again. Classic villain move. And as it turns out, Number One doesn't *need* his lobotomizer ray: the blast of even the weakened fleet destroyer nuke rendered Namor amnesiac on its own! Uh-oh... Cliffhanger!
Another great action issue with raucous Kirby art, and another clever crossover plot thread woven into the narrative; Marvel tight continuity expertly used. Gotta wonder if they're intentionally making amnesia a Namor thing.
We'll have to see what Number One has in store for our Prince of Atlantis in the NEXT issue, though, in Tales to Astonish #84: Like A Beast At Bay!

It's news but not at all unexpected. Donald Trump was sharing America's nuclear secrets with a foreigner.
Donald Trump allegedly discussed potentially sensitive information about US nuclear submarines with an Australian billionaire, Anthony Pratt, three months after leaving office, according to a new report. Citing a source with knowledge of the Australian’s account to investigators for the special counsel Jack Smith, US news outlet ABC News reported an “excited” Trump allegedly discussed “the supposed exact number of nuclear warheads [US submarines] routinely carry, and exactly how close they supposedly can get to a Russian submarine without being detected”. Smith has charged Trump with 40 criminal counts related to his retention of classified information after leaving office. The former president also faces 17 criminal counts regarding election subversion (four federal, from Smith, and 13 in Georgia) and 34 concerning hush-money payments to the adult film actor Stormy Daniels.
Trump and some of his sycophants have been calling for the execution of his alleged political opponents. So what should be the penalty for disclosing US nuclear secrets?
ABC said Trump spoke to Pratt, at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida in April 2021. Pratt then allegedly shared the information about submarines “within minutes” of learning it, shocking a Trump employee who heard him. Pratt, the ABC report alleged, went on to share the information with at least 45 people, including his own employees, journalists, foreign and Australian officials “and three former Australian prime ministers”.
Of course Trump sees nothing wrong with sharing classified information he kept next to his toilet.
Trump did not immediately comment, but a spokesperson for Trump later told ABC News: “President Trump did nothing wrong, has always insisted on truth and transparency, and acted in a proper manner, according to the law.”
Trump is a traitor who will put his personal interests above the national security of the United States.
Never be shy about sharing news of Trump's poor record on national defense and security with soft Trump voters. Repetition is an effective tool which liberals have foolishly neglected over the years.
