This is my first post on my new language blog. Hello, it is nice to meet you! My name is Isabelle, I am based in the UK and I created this blog to track my Korean and Mandarin Chinese language studies. I am excited to share my progress!
As of right now, I will be focusing more on my Korean studies as I will be travelling to Seoul, South Korea in May. I would like to improve my Korean until after that time. Then, I will go back to splitting my time between Korean and Mandarin Chinese.
〚 What I learnt today 〛
— » As a revision, I started the "Korean Grammar In Use: Beginner to Early Intermediate" book to go over the basics of my Korean again.
— » Revised over 이다, 있다 and 없다
— » Revised over location words such as 밑, 앞, 오른쪽, and 밖
감사합니다,
Isabelle

Hello :) 📚☕🍁
Introduction
My name is V (short for my real name), and I'm 26 years old. My pronouns are she/her.
I've had this blog for about six years, but recently returned from a quite long tumblr hiatus. I graduated with a Master's degree in Visual Communication in England and did an internship in Australia while I was gone!
I thought I'd reintroduce myself to y'all since it's been so long since I'd been an active studyblr on here! <3
Who/what I am:
a graphic design graduate (BA & MA)
living on the countryside not far from a city in Northern Germany (I want to move back to England though)
former student in the UK 🇬🇧
former graphics intern in Wales and Australia
fluent in German and English
I also speak basic French and I'm a beginner in Spanish (planning on learning more languages)
a shy introvert (I feel more confident talking online though!)
bigender (about 60 - 70% female, the rest feels male deep down). I don't make a big deal out of it though. She/her is what I go by 100% of the time, but I don't mind he/him either!
What I love:
music (metal, rock, gothic) + concerts
travelling - I especially loved travelling through Australia! 🌏
goth-y and witchy stuff 🦇
collecting vinyl, CDs and DVDs
books - I buy more books than I read though haha
art, design and museums
languages - however I wish I didn't lack motivation to study most of the time!
food & going to restaurants
coffee, tea & cosy cafes
nature, the sea and space
animals - especially dogs and birds!
diamond painting
stationery & pretty journals
decorating my home
Harry Potter (proud Ravenclaw!)
autumn and Halloween 🎃
the UK 🤍
ancient Egypt
philosophy, psychology & paleontology
old typewriters
more stuff that I can't think of atm
What I want to achieve:
become an art director at some point in my design career
learn more about these topics: criminology, art history, linguistics, philosophy, psychology, astronomy, ancient Egypt, etc. (I love learning!)
read more books, esp. British classics 📚
draw & paint more
overcome depression
be less anxious
post more original content on here
spend less time on my phone - I'm not a social media person and only use WhatsApp and Tumblr
not be a perfectionist all the time
I might add a few more points later.
Thank you for reading! I look forward to getting to know more of you lovely people and reuniting with old friends! 💕🌻
P. S.: I follow (back) from my main blog @hardwired-to-self-destruct.

HELP NEEDED
I've accepted an offer from a UK university & it's a dream come true for me (and my family) to continue my study abroad.
But considering that our country's economy is SHITE, I've been trying to look up for ways to fund my studies. For right now, I have a potential loan I'm applying to which would go towards half of my tuition fees - unfortunate to have a loan but at least, there's something, you know?
Here's the thing though, I've heard of people being sponsored by goodwill people who are wealthy (and ig philantropic enough???) to do so - and I'm just wondering - where can I find these people. You might think I'm joking - I'm genuinely not.
I have some side hustles that can only pay me so much, so genuinely, where can I find sponsors? Honestly, of course, if it's not meant to be, then I can try next year's intake but I'm sl close - I already have an offer, I just need some financial help.
So please, good tumblr people, I need some advice or some pointers/leads I can try follow. Other than that, hope you have a blessed day regardless :D

Why do UK Universities Accept May Intakes?
While the traditional September intake remains popular, UK universities increasingly offer May intakes to cater to the diverse needs of international students. The May intake provides flexibility for those who might have missed the September deadline or wish to expedite their academic journey. It also aligns with the academic calendar in some UK institutions, allowing students to seamlessly integrate into ongoing programs.

Consider the following guidelines for the UK May application period:
Generate a comprehensive list of universities offering courses during the specified intake in the UK, and carefully choose the one that resonates with your preferences. Avoid procrastination, as last-minute actions often lead to chaos.
Once you have selected your major and university, consistently monitor their official website for any updates, announcements, or changes.
Take any required qualifying exams well before the enrollment opening to streamline the application process.
Applying early enhances your chances of securing admission to your preferred university. Stay informed about the admissions site opening date to seize this opportunity.
Once accepted, initiate the visa application process, adhering to UK visa requirements for Indian students.
Upon submitting your application, expect a confirmation email. As soon as you receive it, initiate the process of applying for a UK Student Visa.

【 Korean Study Resource 】
» Book : Korean Grammar in Use: Beginning to Early Intermediate » Link : Google Drive link
I don’t use this as a standalone textbook, but it’s honestly one of the most useful grammar references I’ve found for the A1–B1 level.
It’s structured to make it easy to revisit specific points when reviewing or filling in gaps—clear explanations, good example sentences, and enough nuance to help things stick without being overwhelming!
I treat it more like a grammar dictionary + workbook hybrid. I usually go back to it when I’m feeling unsure about a structure I’ve seen before, or when I want to make sure I fully understand a pattern I’ve encountered in native content.
Not a beginner "learn from zero" book, but very solid as a companion or revision tool alongside other materials.
If you're somewhere between basic and intermediate and want a grammar guide that’s actually usable (and not dry or overly academic), I’d say this is worth having!
