hiiiii, first of all I LOVE your blog and it has been helping me back into my sudy process, thank you for all your work darling!! second, I would like to know if you have seasonal study tips for winter because I'm on the southern hemisphere (if not thank you anyways, keep doing your wonderful blog the way you are right now because it's amazing!!).
✧・゜: winter focus study guide :・゜✧

hey lovely! ✧
omg your message just made me smile so big! knowing that something i've shared has actually helped you get back into your study flow is literally the best feeling ever. (sometimes i wonder if anyone's really reading these late night rambles of mine so this means the world!)
winter studying in the southern hemisphere sounds so dreamy to me right now while i'm melting in this summer heat! (besides these horrible floods and rainy days) it's so magical studying during the colder months, that perfect excuse to stay cozy inside with books and hot drinks while the world gets all moody and atmospheric outside.
⋆.ೃ࿔*:・ embrace the cozy season ・:࿔ೃ.⋆
winter studying has this special energy that summer just doesn't. lean all the way into creating the most ridiculously cozy study nest possible:
invest in the softest throw blanket you can find (i have this chunky knit one that's basically my study partner at this point)
fingerless gloves changed my life for cold morning study sessions when my hands get too stiff to type properly
warming up your favorite mug before pouring your tea/coffee keeps it hot so much longer (i literally microwave the empty mug for 30 seconds first)
⋆.ೃ࿔*:・ light as self-care ・:࿔ೃ.⋆
winter's shorter days can seriously mess with your focus and motivation (i literally turn into a sad little potato when it gets dark too early). some things that actually help:
study near natural light whenever possible, move your desk by the window if you can
fairy lights aren't just for aesthetics! the warm glow genuinely improves my mood when i'm struggling through difficult material
consider a happy lamp if winter seriously affects your energy (i resisted buying one forever thinking it was overpriced nonsense but it's been life-changing for my 6am study sessions)
⋆.ೃ࿔*:・ winter-proof your routine ・:࿔ೃ.⋆
cold weather requires different routines than summer studying:
the 45-10 method works better for me in winter than the traditional 25-5 pomodoro. longer focus sessions mean less getting up and getting cold!
morning studying becomes more challenging when your bed is warm and the room is not, so prepare everything the night before (i set up my desk completely, even putting my slippers right where my feet will land when i get up)
batch-prepare warm drinks in a thermos so you don't break focus running to the kitchen
winter afternoons get dark early, so front-load your hardest work earlier in the day when possible
⋆.ೃ࿔*:・ seasonal motivation hacks ・:࿔ೃ.⋆
winter studying requires different motivation strategies:
create a "sunshine study fund". put aside a tiny amount of money each time you complete a study session, then use it for something bright and cheerful mid-winter
use scent anchors for focus. i have a specific winter study perfume (warm vanilla) that i only wear when studying, and it immediately puts my brain in work mode
winter playlists hit different. i have one called "study like you're in a cabin in the woods" that makes even statistics feel magical
reward yourself with warm treats instead of cold ones. hot chocolate as a study reward just hits different than summer's iced coffee
⋆.ೃ࿔*:・ movement matters more ・:࿔ೃ.⋆
winter studying makes me want to become one with my chair and never move again, but that's actually the worst for productivity:
do 2-minute stretch breaks between subjects (i set specific stretch alarms)
keep a small space heater near your study area so moving doesn't mean getting cold
try "chapter walks", bundle up and take a quick 5-minute walk after completing each chapter or major section
winter studying has its own special magic that summer doesn't, lean into that cozy, contemplative energy and it might become your favorite study season!
sending you the warmest wishes for a productive winter study season! i'd love to hear which tips end up working best for you!
xoxo, mindy 🤍
p.s. don't forget to moisturize your hands during winter study sessions! dry skin from heaters and cold air makes page-turning and typing so uncomfortable (speaking from painful experience here).

How to Study in a Distracting Environment
Unfortunately, not everyone is privileged enough to have their own personal study space or access to a quiet library or cosy café - so here are my top tips for when you have to study in a distracting environment!
Headphones are Your Shield: Invest in noise-cancelling headphones or play some soothing instrumental music or white noise to block out external sounds.
Focused Study Sessions: Break your study time into shorter, highly focused sessions with designated break times, such as by using the Pomodoro method. It's easier to maintain concentration for a shorter period.
Offline Mode: Turn off notifications on your devices and set your phone to silent. Only check it during scheduled breaks.
Design a Study Schedule: Establish a routine for studying in distracting environments so that your brain knows when it's time to focus.
Mindfulness Techniques: Practice mindfulness and concentration exercises to train your brain to stay on task despite the chaos.
Be Flexible: Accept that there might still be interruptions. Stay adaptable and return to your studies as soon as possible.
Study Off-Peak Hours: If you can, study during off-peak hours when the environment is less crowded and noisy. In addition, pick the quietest part of the chaotic room to study in.
Remember, distractions are a part of life, but you have the power to overcome them - and hopefully get that essay written while you're at it!

Hello, hows it going?
Im so depressed and unwilling since… Thursday… Friday? theres so much sadness everywhere and as much as I try avoiding it, it’s still round me, and it really does make a negative impact on my daily life. I’ve been whining about this for four days now though, so I’ll just talk about some of the… slightly productive things I did.
I didn’t do much for the majority of the weekend, so my Saturday and Sunday were just me sitting around doing nothing, on Sunday afternoon™️ though I realized I had a lot of assignments for the following week and that I had not gotten started on any of them so I started studying and decided to do my assignments for my architectural expression class which I was supposed to have on Monday (today), BUT THEN our professor let us know that the class was cancelled this week. So I stopped doing that assignment and did nothing for a few hours again then I came back and did like 50% of my design class assignment, which was researching function spaces in hotels. And then I decided that I couldn’t study more and I just went to sleep.
Then today I had a lazy morning again but I did get started at noon, which was an improvement from the days before, I finished the research I had to do and started working on my assignments for my sketching class which are… a lot. And all of them are due this Wednesday… I have like four different assignments, and I’ve only managed to do one of them today. I have classes for the whole day tomorrow, so it’s very unlikely that I will get to do the rest of them, unless time magic suddenly becomes real.
I’m living off of milk-tea and toast. Send help.

1 / 100 days of productivity - 25.8.2023
Not so aesthetic photo but my reality of homeoffice.
I love my lavalamp ( which my mother bought me for christmas last year) an the dried roses my fiance bought me (which i dried one by one afterwards so i dont have to throw them away).
Plants grow well in my flat as its really bright in here (but sadly also very hot atm here in germany with 32° in the afternoon).
The Chair is also a birthday gift from my fiance and i love it so much. Its so beautiful and comfy.
The book is 'Blink - the power of thinking without thinking' from Malcom Gladwell and on top is my precious phone tresor which i use lately to lock my phone away. I can really recommend this tool. Even if i think i dont look at my phone often... it just releases some extra concentration if i know its not accessible.
I just started my literature analysis for my state of the art paper on control ☺️. Hopefully i will be finished in December and can hand in the paper for revision in january.
At the moment i really enjoy the 'study with me videos' from Sean Study on Youtube! (As you can see).
And i could never work without at least two screens (also got them at my office).
I wish you good luck and endurance on your (new and ongoing) study projects.
Lots of Love from Germany!

✧・゜: summer study tips for when motivation is low :・゜✧:・゜✧

hey lovelies! ✨
can we just acknowledge how hard it is to focus on studying when the sun is shining, everyone's posting beach pics, and your brain is basically melting from the heat? summer studying feels almost criminal sometimes (like, isn't this when we're supposed to be recharging?), but even if you're taking summer classes, prepping for fall semester, or studying for standardized tests, i've got some helpful tips to help you stay on track without missing out on summer magic.
⋆.ೃ࿔:・ why summer motivation hits different ・:࿔ೃ.⋆
let's be honest about why summer studying feels so much harder:
your body literally craves sunlight and outdoor time
everyone else seems to be living their best vacation life
the heat makes focusing genuinely more difficult
your brain is trained to associate summer with freedom
seasonal rhythms are real, and summer is naturally more active and social
knowing this isn't just you being "lazy" is the first step! your brain isn't broken, it's just responding to both biological and social cues that say "put down the textbook and go outside!"
⋆.ೃ࿔:・ create a summer-friendly study schedule ・:࿔ೃ.⋆
the key is working with summer energy, not against it:
𝘴𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘺 𝘥𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘬 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴: use the hottest part of the day (usually 12-3pm) when you'd be inside anyway for your deepest focus work
𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘭𝘺 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘪𝘤: if possible, wake up earlier and study when it's cooler and quieter, bonus points for studying outside with birds chirping!
𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘴𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴: aim for 45-minute focused blocks instead of marathon 3-hour sessions (your summer brain will thank you)
𝘵𝘩𝘦 2:1 𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰: for every hour of studying, give yourself 30 minutes of true summer enjoyment as a reward
𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘬𝘭𝘺 𝘧𝘳𝘦𝘦 𝘥𝘢𝘺: designate one day each week as completely study-free to recharge
⋆.ೃ࿔:・ summer-proof your study environment ・:࿔ೃ.⋆
your environment makes all the difference:
𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘢 𝘤𝘰𝘰𝘭 𝘰𝘢𝘴𝘪𝘴: study near a fan or air conditioning with a cold drink nearby
𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘥𝘰𝘰𝘳 𝘴𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘺 𝘴𝘱𝘰𝘵𝘴: find a shaded patio, park bench, or beach setup where you can enjoy nature while studying
𝘴𝘶𝘮𝘮𝘦𝘳 𝘴𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘺 𝘢𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘤: bring summer into your study space with fresh flowers, lemon water, and natural light
𝘤𝘰𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘦 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘱 𝘳𝘰𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯: try different iced coffee spots to keep your environment fresh and interesting
𝘴𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨: face away from windows showing beautiful weather when you need deep focus
⋆.ೃ࿔:・ motivation hacks that actually work ・:࿔ೃ.⋆
when your motivation is hiding under a beach umbrella:
𝘴𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘺 𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘴: everything's more fun with friends! find a study buddy and make it social
𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘥 𝘴𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘺 𝘥𝘢𝘺𝘴: "tropical tuesday" or "fruity friday" with matching snacks and music
𝘴𝘶𝘮𝘮𝘦𝘳 𝘳𝘦𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘴: ice cream after finishing a chapter, swimming after completing practice problems
𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘶𝘢𝘭 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴: create a summer-themed progress tracker (fill in a popsicle for each completed study session)
𝘴𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘺 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘮𝘦 𝘷𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘰𝘴: find summer study ambience videos that make you feel less alone
⋆.ೃ࿔:・ summer-specific study methods ・:࿔ೃ.⋆
adapt your approach to match the season:
𝘸𝘢𝘭𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘭𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦𝘴: listen to recorded lectures or educational podcasts while walking outside
𝘱𝘰𝘰𝘭𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘱𝘰𝘮𝘰𝘥𝘰𝘳𝘰𝘴: 25 minutes of study, 5 minutes of dangling feet in water (or any summer treat)
𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘱𝘵 𝘴𝘶𝘯𝘴𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘯: apply a layer of understanding before exposing yourself to exam questions
𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘶𝘢𝘭 𝘴𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘺 𝘱𝘪𝘤𝘯𝘪𝘤𝘴: spread out colorful mind maps on a blanket instead of linear notes
⋆.ೃ࿔:・ be gentle with yourself ・:࿔ೃ.⋆
most importantly, release the guilt:
summer studying doesn't have to be all-or-nothing
progress > perfection (especially during summer)
your brain literally works differently in hot weather
memories matter too, make sure you're creating some
rest is productive, it's preparing you for future focus
remember that balance looks different in each season. summer might be when you study a little less but live a little more, and that's completely okay. your worth isn't tied to your productivity, especially when the sun is shining and calling your name.
xoxo, mindy 🤍

a big lesson for me was learning that most things are not as fragile as I’d believed. missing a class, or turning in a bad assignment, won’t instantly destroy your professor’s opinion of you. accidentally saying something harsh won’t make your friend want to end the friendship. it takes work to repair these things - it takes effort and research and sometimes a sincere apology - but you can do that because they’re not irreparably broken. what you’ve worked to build, in academia and in relationships and in life, is stronger and more enduring that your mind may teach you to believe. don’t let imagined fragility lead you to giving up
#in some rare cases someone will react dramatically to a small failure#it’s very very important to understand that that is about them#it is not about you#and environments that condition you to fear small missteps are neither healthy nor productive#but in most cases things are not so fragile#also this is a follow up to the credibility post#because your credibility will not break if you miss a day#it’s all stronger than you think#academia#study tips#studyblr#study inspo#study motivation#productivity#personal#text post
