I'm gonna start you out strong with two by @werpiper: After Hours takes Aziraphale and Crowley to the baths after their oyster supper, and all sorts of interesting pleasures are there for our angel to sample. Fitting In is a new story, still a WIP, but I am utterly tantalized by Muriel's first taste of love -- and tea. This is already rich in detail, soft and fragrant, and I can hardly wait for the action to get going in earnest. A new-to-me author, Calico, has me hanging by a thread with their Ineffable Romans series. If you want to remember that your ineffables aren't human, that they are inordinately clever but very stupid, that the feelings they have for each other are truly beyond what anyone alive has ever felt, Calico may be the writer for you. This stuff is deep. Also hot af.

Sub Rosa reads like a nasty shag at Petronius', but there's so much more going on here. It is Extremely Queer, driven by power dynamics, and Crowley is fully demonic here and absolutely in control...or is he?

The Intemperance of Liber Pater continues on this theme, with dialogue-driven smut that reads less like a seduction than an inevitability. There's another story in this series, unfinished, and I can't wait to see what happens next.

Last but not least: two short pieces by @ineffabildaddy. I stumbled on their stories just this week and I absolutely love their approach, which I've not seen done quite this way before.

take me as your wife has a tight first-person perspective as Crowley meets Aziraphale for a meal and imagines (or is it his imagination?) that Aziraphale is suggesting Certain Things about how they might occupy themselves later. Indeed, is he suggesting even more? Something about their relationship? Or is it all in Crowley's head?

Only in Dreams is kind of a companion piece, from Aziraphale's point of view -- though hundreds of years later. This one's set after the events of S2 and although just as romantic as take me as your wife, it also offers an ineffable take on the ol' glory hole concept. Just in case you thought I was getting soft. 😏

The tag "meet-cute but it's a meet-disaster" is used, which is accurate. A good mix of comedy but also heart-wrenching... sweetness? romance? they're both extremely stupid and extremely lestappen and it's just amazing. and great smut ofc.

On the drive back to the hotel Max had turned to him, blue eyes fierce and piercing. “Promise me you won’t stop being angry. You’re angry because you know what you can do. It’s a cruel summer for all. first of all i'm extremely attached to this fic bc it introduced me to maisie peters, which led to one of the best concert experiences of my life!! but other than that, this is just so beautifully written, so detailed, and an all-around incredible fic. everything by this author is incredible too!! it's got the perfect balance of angst vs fluff and just summer vibes, which is prob the perfect thing to read right now - anyway, DEF read if you haven't already!!

That was until James Potter came around, becoming party leader of his own party, the Leftists. Sirius would probably hate him, if they weren't such good friends. Regulus does not share this problem. Remus Lupin literally just needed a job, and got thrown into the mess of secrets, games and an upcoming parliamentary crisis. With an election around the corner, things are bound to go awry. MCD WARNING but so worth it. like genuinely. it's a painful fic but there's also a good dose of fluff and i enjoyed every single second of reading despite it being politics and.. well, i'm from america so you can probably guess that it was very strange to actually be attached to these characters while they were politicians😭 this one's also so well written and - there are fics where you can just tell that the person cares so deeply about the topic they're writing about, and this is one of them!!! i love finding fanfics where authors are just incredibly passionate about the subject/au OH and it has a taylor swift title. so like. yk it's already gonna be good. (this is also actually one of my favorite songs ever so i was soo excited to read)

The Mystery of the Pears by sonwar

In the cave, Regulus doesn’t beg for it to stop. He begs not be left behind, alone. Perhaps this is why, when Kreacher gives one last look over his shoulder and sees terrible, pale hands reaching for his master, he appears in a flash at Regulus’ side, clutches him by the elbow, and Apparates them both out of the cave, directly disobeying his master’s last order. canonverse fic!! and such a lovely au. the romance between them is just so natural, and yet there's still the war going on - but really, it's just so well written, despite all the angst of the war, imo it's just such a feel-good fic. love this one so much.

Only the Brave by Solmussa

A fic about two idiots falling in love (x2 because there's wolfstar, too) during a war, and the sacrifices they'll have to make to survive it. andddd this one's the big one. this one's the one i choose to accept as canon. like. GUYS. THIS ONE'S SO FUCKING GOOD if you haven't already and you're a jegulus fan, you just HAVE to read it like genuinely. the plot is so well-thought out, all of the interludes give these other characters their own stories too, and the angst!!! but also the badassery!!! i can't even explain it but if you want a canonverse war au where jegulus survives and they all win, then, like, this is the one. it's so perfect. prob my fav jegulus fic of all time.

Hello hello! For yall that don't know me, I'm Billy or Sataara, either is fine, and I read a lot of submas fics so I decided to make a list of some recommendations that I have! A few things about me is that I can't deal with unhappy endings, heavy angst and/or any pairings where both brothers are with someone else (also no bl/nkship), so if you're looking for any of these types of fics, I'm sorry but you won't find it here :/

That aside, I'll make more than one post since this was getting kind of long, this first one are just multi-chapter fics! Stealing the partner of a fiery ghost is a lesson not learned yet, but it will be. Oh, it will be.

Husk finds a five-year-old Charlie in a zombie infested wasteland and with the help of solo traveler Angel, they go on a cross-country road trip to reunite her with her parents. This fic will keep you on your toes, trust me.

So Much (For) Stardust by Kima - War vet Husk is big pissed that he has to bartend at a club that Alastor owns, especially when one of the drag performers there pisses him off to no end, it also doesnt help that he has an obnoxious next door neighbor that always has loud sex. Surely those two things aren't related in any way.

glitter & bows by angelsfizz - Angel works at Claires at the mall and a lost kid wanders through, then when her dad comes to retrieve her, Angel has a massive gay panic because hubba hubba this guy's hot.

When We Meet Again by rainbowpandas and RockyRants - we all knew this was coming. how could I leave out this fandom classic? if you haven't already read this masterpiece, Angel and Husk slowly regain their memories of when they were alive. Turns out they knew each other and were lovers. Mixes in flashbacks of their pasts with the story and will for sure leave an impact on you.

soft & tender by Spades - sweet and sensual oneshot of the two of them after they get together. Domestic, tooth-rotting, show-stopping.

Changing Channels by Onlymostlydead - a video of Angel's comes on during channel surfing in the lobby, the thing is though, he has no memory of filming it. Hurt/comfort with protective Chaggie and Husk. Read the tags for this one very carefully.

Reasons why I love it: It's a Winteriron weddiiiiing! I love the team feels in this fic, and kid Tony's hero worship for Steve is so fucking cute. The way he reacts to Bucky at first but slowly comes to trust him is so satisfying to read because it feels completely organic. And Tony's whole backstory with Howard just tears at my heartstrings. Generally, this fic is super well-written, especially the dialogue. I love it so much, and I bet you will too, so go ahead and read it!

Reasons why I love it: The team is so fucking adorable in how they handle Tony. And of course, even when he's de-aged, Tony is a BAMF genius. I especially loved the scene with Coulson and the suits, it's so subtle and yet so impactful. And the aftermath of the mission is so charged with emotion that it stuck with me for a while after I finished the fic. It's incredible, and I hope you give it a shot, if you haven't read it already!

Treading Desire Lines by fohatic

Summary: Tony knows that his daughter can be difficult, but he really needs someone to do him a solid when an important opportunity arises. Never one to shrink from a challenge, Steve steps in, hoping to shift the strained dynamic between him and Tony and having no idea how the course of his life is about to change.

Reasons why I love it: Oh my god, Steve is such husband material in this one. I love the whole set-up with Morgan, and the way Steve handles her is just fantastic. The trust that grows between them is nothing short of beautiful. And how it all leads into Steve and Tony mending their bridges is so sweet. I love this fic so much, and I bet you will too!

I am also a fan of found family so many of my fic recs will already have that included, so I'd definitely recommend checking out my other rec lists if you haven't already. If you have, I hope you can find something to read from this list!

Souls on the Shore by lovelyleias - This is a nice one featuring Annie and Johanna. It's post-Mockingjay so it's inherently a little sad, but hopeful too. It really highlights the bond between Annie and Johanna and how their shared experiences tie them together.

Josie by Shaylinne - This one is such a cool look at Johanna's life and especially her relationships with the other victors. It definitely leans into the found family theme (especially in the post-war setting, although Finnick lives) which makes it a really enjoyable read.

Right Till the End by deathmallow - This one focuses on Finnick and Johanna's friendship pre-canon and also incorporates some of the other victors. The victors camaraderie really shines through here, which I love.

Still 22 days left till the end of the world by kawuli - This is a great Finnick and Johanna found family one, and everything in this series has a lot of connection between Johanna and the other victors (mainly Finnick). It's dark but a great read, especially if you're interested in the victors in the Capitol pre-canon.

Mentorship by thankyoufinnick - This is a long and in-depth one about the relationship between Mags and Finnick. I love it and the found family is really strong here.

Wherever There Is You by BeesKnees - This one takes place while Annie is in the Capitol. It shows how she uses her relationships with the people she loves to keep her going. It's so beautifully done and I would definitely recommend it.

We Must Be Killers: Tales From District 2 by lorata - I don't usually venture far beyond Odesta fics but lately I have been devouring this series. It may not be exactly what you're looking for but I highly suggest giving it a try. The dynamics and relationships in this are incredible, not to mention the amazing District 2 worldbuilding.

Ahah I actually thought they were a lil serious and depressing hehe (because the manga tackles DARK STUFF! I feel pretty glum as I draw these characters out sometimes, so I try to be more cheerful about it.)

but in the end, I feel I really specialize in fluff, I think? I enjoy drawing characters who are very caring toward each other, it never gets old for me, so I always try to think of some warm.. and soft situations when they have a sense of understanding.

I'm happy people find them cute ;v;).. I love cute too! I want "cute" embedded in my pieces..

Oh, I've never tried writing fanfic at all, and I don't read so much of it either! I wish I could introduce some works for you, but there's not much that I know of, either. I'm sorry for being unable to help you so much, but I'd love to draw more of the ship (until the manga tells me I can't by throwing contradictory stuff which I HOPE NOT ;v;)

If you haven't talked to them already, I feel aihoshiino may have an idea on ai fics you wish to find because they're the Ai expert! They have great insight about the character and I would certainly ask of their opinion if I wanted to learn more about her in depth! (Yes I want Ai to be happy too...she's a character worth developing a brainrot over for sure. the IDOL MV is what's drew me into the series and the first volume of this series was so intense and strong...)

68,449 - not counting Aphelion. My tumblr word count is... a lot higher.

5. do you respond to comments?

I try to respond to all comments because I appreciate them SO MUCH MORE than I can accurately convey. I love hearing from people about what they liked or what shocked them or what made them feel things, and I really love the chance to sort of have a micro mini chat about it in the comments. That being said, sometimes I completely check out and miss a whole batch or a whole fic worth of comments goes unresponded to for far too long. And I always feel bad when that happens, which sometimes results in me responding to things WAY after the comments were left, to the point where it wouldn't surprise me if the person has already forgotten the fic/what they wrote... but I haven't forgotten how much it meant to me that they read and commented on my work. So even if it's 6 months to an eternity late, I intend to respond to them all.

7. what's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

I feel like most of them have happy endings, but we'll go with A Little Christmas Magic - Frankie x F!Reader as perhaps the fluffiest happy ending.

8. do you get hate on fics?

I have gotten non-fic specific hate directed at my writing before, but that was a few years ago and it hasn't happened since. Which is cool because the fewer people wasting their time and energy on being unnecessarily mean about things - let alone about stories about silly little fictional guys - the better.

9. do you write smut?

I do, but I do not consider it one of my strong suits, and I typically only include it if it fits with the overall story though a few times I have written smut just to be filthy as a challenge... and as a treat.

10. craziest crossover?

I've been slowly spinning a True Detective x Tim Rockford crossover like a rotisserie chicken for months but I've only managed to jot down a few unconnected snippets thus far. And a title. It's gonna be called (maybe, if I ever actually write it) Flat Circle, Twisted Game.

11. have you ever had a fic stolen?

No, but if I did I would be absolutely PISSED. And I can't say I'd be nice about it.

12. have you ever had a fic translated?

Nope, but that would be cool AF.

Yes! I am currently co-writing Aphelion with @something-tofightfor and it is so much FUN.

In all honesty it's probably Leslie Knope and Ben Wyatt. I was straight up ready to stop watching Parks and Rec if they didn't end up together.

lol what kind of passive aggressive, self-doubt feeding question is this? I'd like to finish them all and I try like hell to believe that I will.

I think it's probably describing natural settings? But maybe dialogue. Idk.

Smut. Also keeping the momentum to finish things in a timely fashion, but mostly smut.

18. thoughts on dialogue in another language?

I try to only use it when it makes sense or when it benefits the story and not just as like... a novelty or an afterthought.

Teeeeeeeeeeechnically? Like first one I ever made content for? I guess that would be the Twilight series. But I will not be sharing where to find that here. And if you find out where it is, you take that knowledge to the grave with you, you hear me? DO YOU HEAR ME, FRIENDS?

Even though it's nowhere near done, I love and am so very proud of Survivor Blues. But then again, even though it's a few years old now and I feel like my writing has grown since finishing it, Point of No Return will always have a very big piece of my heart.

I'm gonna make a kind of pretentious rant rn bc I saw a post I didn't like so bear with me

So like, there's this post I saw. it starts out with "finally figured out exactly what it is about the 'stop complaining about the lack of women in shonen anime, if you want stories with strong and interesting female characters shojo is right there' argument that bothers me so much" and then it says this

I'll be honest, the biggest annoyance here is calling shoujo and shounen "genres." And to me that just shows that even though OP seems to get the actual intention behind the above statement, they still have some fundamental biases against shoujo that makes them think all it has to offer is "girl stuff."

Like, look at the comparisons they give. Princess Tutu and Madoka (which isn't even confirmed a shoujo) vs Naruto and MHA. Ask literally any shoujo fan for a rec that compares to Naruto and I can guarantee you neither of those above will be the first to cross their minds. Because surprise surprise! Shoujo does, in fact, contain as much deep, complex, and interesting stuff as shounen! And that even includes action! I can give you so many examples of a shoujo being mistaken for a shounen (cough Banana Fish cough) or a shounen mistaken for a shoujo (cough Horimiya cough) because demographics are not defined borders. You can't just say that of course someone who likes action/adventure won't like the Girl Stuff. It's a reductive view of what female-centered media can be in and of itself.

But like, I get it. As someone who also grew up with traditionally masculine interests, it can be annoying to hear people say that you should try the Girl things for Girls. But I'm gonna be real here, you just straight up aren't going to get good female representation in your traditionally masculine interests unless you also show support for the traditionally feminine. Which leads into this addition to that post:

Like that's the thing about this. It's all well and good to say that boys deserve good female characters. They absolutely do and we should continue to advocate for such, but that sentiment rings so hollow when those good female characters already exist and y'all just don't want to touch them. I get that you don't want good rep for some random series, you want it for Naruto, for One Piece, for Demon Slayer. But I am stressing so much that the reason shoujo fans are so insistent that you try these other series out is because that's how you show that you want it.

Because again, it's perfectly acceptable to clamor for good rep in the series you already love, but by consuming nothing but shows/manga made for men, by men, with majority male casts, you are telling them that that's what you want.

A caveat: I'm not pointing at you the reader or OP specifically and saying "it's YOUR 🫵 fault shounen has poorly written women because you haven't read Fruits Basket," because it's obviously more complicated than just pure numbers. But it's frustrating to see people plead for y'all to diversify your reading portfolio only to get met with the brick wall non-solution of "well boys deserve good female characters too you know!!"

Like yeah! They do! We never said they didn't! But all saying that has done is plop us right back to where we started. What am I supposed to do with that? What am I supposed to do with any of this? As great as it would be for MHA to suddenly start treating it's female characters better, we both know that isn't happening. You gave us a problem and we're trying to offer a solution. So why are we the bad guys here just because you have preconceived notions of what shoujo is like compared to shounen?

And to add another caveat, it's ok to not like shoujosei stories people recommend! You don't have to like Basara or Yona or OHSHC or any other that you may have tried and dropped. I don't want it to sound like I'm guilt tripping people into being ashamed for not enjoying stuff they don't enjoy, but 9 times out of 10 the people pushing back with that kind of attitude haven't even tried. How do you even know you won't like the series we recommend if you don't even care enough to know that they aren't all one genre?

And I guess that's it. Like, at the end of the day you can do whatever you want, I just wanted to put my frustrations out there. Which is why I screenshotted this instead of rbing OP. I'm sure they want a lengthy argument just as much as I do (not at all).

& then i fell out of my chair @ "Michael read between the lines and understood what he was really saying–he was fluent in Brian Kinney after all: I’m not going anywhere. Not without you. " & almost started cryinggggg bc GODDDD

other lines that generally killed me:

-This was one of those deep, soul-crushing kisses that Brian seemed to dole out on special occasions.

One of the things that is so compelling to me about Brian and Michael is allll the history between them. There is so much to explore and never get bored. The teen era is very special because that's where this incredible connection was first formed, and it's so interesting to me!

One of my fave fics So Come and Dance With Me alternates timelines beteween pre and post series and has a lot of great teen years stuff in it. If you haven't checked it out yet, I can't rec it enough. It's like everything I could ever ask for in a Brikey fic (expect the last chap was never posted, so it's technically a wip, but ends in a good place imo)

And !!!!! at your college era brikey fic!!! I'm so glad that this fic was able to inspire to continue it. I am very excited for that. I hope the writing goes well. Please please please let me know when/if you finish/post it!

I want to thank you again for the prompt. It was so fun writing for them again. It also reminds me that I have a few wips that I should dust off and try to finish at some point.
