Relieving Anxiety: 5 Superfoods for Anxious Minds
We have all stood at a stage once and been too afraid to utter a word.
We have all been well prepared but too scared worrying about a math exam.
We have all ravenously tapped the floors with our shoes before setting foot in an interview room agitated on the fact that we may not be able to get the job.
Stress is what happens when you face a challenge or something that pushes you out of your comfort zone. And anxiety is what happens when you are under immense stress. It is the feeling enveloped in fear of what’s about to come.
Everyone doesn’t experience anxiety at the same level. Some have it worse than others. There are treatments and medication available for the same. But what can you do to make a change yourself?
Food can be your way to ward off anxiety. Diet is one of the most basic things in our lifestyle, but it impacts us multiple folds. There are certain superfoods that are helpful in relieving anxiety.
1.  Almonds
Almonds can be termed “jack of all trades” when it comes to providing relief. They are great for your all overall health, but anxiety as well. The magnesium content in almonds is responsible for the relief it provides over symptoms related to anxiety. Next time you feel anxious, rather than turning to sweets and other health degrading snacks, consume a handful of almonds.
2. Pumpkin seeds
Seeds come in varieties like flax, sunflower, pumpkin, etc. Out of these, pumpkin seeds have been said to impact anxiety and stress positively. These seeds contain potassium in abundance, which helps in maintaining low blood pressure and lowers anxiety and stress.
These tiny superfoods can be consumed dry roasted or as it is as snacks.
3. Dark chocolate
Who doesn’t like chocolates? The aroma and the taste, everything that can draw you in and leave you drooling. But more than milk chocolate, dark chocolate is quoted as the healthier one. And rightfully so.
Dark chocolate is rich in flavonoids which lessens neuroinflammation, cell damage and improves blood flow. This, in turn, reduces anxiety and stress. In addition to this, dark chocolate is also rich in potassium, which is known to lower anxiety.
4. Yogurt
Chronic inflammation might be one reason for anxiety and stress. Some dairy products, including yogurt, are highly effective for treating anxiety. Yogurt, being anti-inflammatory in nature, reduces anxiety by lowering chronic inflammation. Including this dairy deliciousness in your daily diet is bound to bring a healthy change and relieve you from anxiety and stress.
5. Blueberries
These little packets of vitamins and minerals defend your brain. The multitude of vitamin B and antioxidants present in blueberries provides relief from stress and anxiety.
Not only this, but blueberries can also prevent anxiety.
