Referring to Arya's development in Braavos as "brief descriptions" when her AFfC/ADwD chapters are almost entirely dedicated to showing us her training is...certainly a choice. Doing so to claim that Sansa has the more detailed learning arc? Pure clownery. You'd never guess from this response that the original post was about detailing Arya's training with the FM (using quotes from the book!) and makes no mention of Sansa anywhere. Notably this response provides no evidence from the books and makes objectively false claims; nowhere across five books is Sansa mentioned to have a grasp of High Valyrian but, of course, Sansa has to be handed every skill that Arya has without any page space dedicated to learning it. I know this is a wild concept, but Arya exists as her own character and not everything about her story can be applied to Sansa.
#arya stark#asoiaf#anti sansa stans#really wish people would stop handing Arya's development over to Sansa just because they think it /fits/ her better#mind you I had to streamline quotes from Arya's chapters and restrict them to AFFC/ADWD to avoid the post getting too long#compare that to /Sansa is learning from LF/ as the catch all /proof/ of Sansa's development and it's clear whose is more detailed#Sansa's development is intentionally vague because she's being manipulated and is an unreliable narrator#while Arya's training was so important that wanting to show it is one of the reasons George trashed the time skip#Arya's development is objectively more detailed and better defined then Sansa's and I would be happy to go quote for quote on that 🤷🏾♀️#people can't admit that the skillset they project onto Sansa is actually Arya's because then they'd have no idea what to theorize for her#one step outside of familiar tropes and archetypes and people get scared 🙄

One of our favorite pieces of artwork depicting a part of our grand rail system is featured here on the cover of a promotional pamphlet full of activities and information for people visiting New York courtesy of us. The New York Central Building was our headquarters until the bitter end, and it is rendered beautifully here dominating park avenue. It is (illegitimately) called The Helmsley Building today. On the table of contents a banner image containing the New York Central Mercury, a streamlined 4-6-2 introduced in 1936.

I definitely believe that the US should improve it's infrastructure and public transportation, but also we should bring back Streamliner Trains. Because come on, look at these things.
This is the Mercury that was in service from 1936 - 1959. But god damn, imagine seeing this thing pull up in the station.
Even the Zephyrs, despite not having the most out there design compared to others look incredible! Like... we should go back to this. Make cool as fuck trains because they rule and are actually super beneficial to the climate, infrastructure, and public transportation.

Sometimes I question my autism diagnosis because my experience isn't entirely in line with those of other autistic people's and then I go to my job at the train museum and take one quick glance at a photo in a box of archival images and immediately and correctly identify a specific GG1 locomotive from the shape of the nose around the headlight
#reblogs#it was Old Rivets#the prototype GG1#you can tell because she's a bit boxier and doesn't have the streamlining#she has a riveted body hence her name#I like trains#actuallyautistic#autism#GG1#Old Rivets#PRR 4800

Silly unfinished sketch of what I think the Mallard (the steam train that holds the world speed record for steam locomotives) would look like in starlight express
This is the LNER Class A4 4468 Mallard
#stex#starlight express#starlight express oc#would she be an oc? probably#anyways I’m gonna blather on abt her design here#so the A4s (the type of steam train that the mallard is) was made in the late 1930s#and they have their distinctive streamlined appearance due to the influence of the art deco movement#specifically the streamline moderne part of the art deco movement. so the A4s are essentially your regular steam trains but with a#sort of covering over it#and so I represented this here by giving her a beautiful sleek 1930s style coat over the more typical stex steam train clothes#I also wanted to make her overall design very streamlined in the general shapes such as the ends of her coat and the lining of her coat and#her hair. which is admittedly finished#unfinished*#I imagine her underclothes (like her trousers etc) being silver and her coat being blue and black#specifically her coat would be largely blue with black trimmings and black lining#and also her elbow pads would be black#I think she’s sort of like. an old starlet but racer#she’s happily retired in a museum and is also very proud of herself and her racing history#I might delete this later. or I might finish the drawing or redo her in a less small sketch way and then post that#idk. but she’s finished for now and I just wanted to post her#I loooove the mallard I’m basic but the A4s are soooooo beautiful#my art
