So, out of curiosity - people who have access to IQiYI and Gaga - is the THK version in that platform any different than YT?

I hope this is true. Because it would just be so in line with deciding to be so cartoonishly evil in public right before SAG was set to go on strike as well. A union that really has the power to shut down the whole industry and make them lose astronomical amounts of money per day.
All that Deadline article probably did was make SAG more emboldened to get everything they're asking for and not extend the deadline again.

Colorism finally came for John Stewart 🫠
So, a week or two ago, I found out DC and HBO Max were producing a Green Lantern series. I knew only because I happened to be googling something about Kyle Chandler at the time.
I was like, "Cool, cool. He's definitely gonna be playing Hal Jordan, bc DC is forever trying to make Hal Jordan a thing." Maybe his casting is meta-commentary on the fact the character is an old hat/guard compared to the number of Black and Brown lanterns we have nowadays. (Y'know, bc the bulk of Chandler's career peak was the '90s and the 2000s.)
(DC, stop neglecting my mans, Kyle Rayner ;_;)
It's basically the buddy cop concept they pitched as a film in the 2010s when everyone was still demanding a John Stewart movie (and lamenting that we got Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan instead). But apparently, instead of a comedy, they wanna make it akin to True Detective. I think.
Which is.... a choice.
That said, it never once occurred to me that they wouldn't cast a dark-skinned Black Man to play John Stewart. Like, the choices are bountiful and that's a hard thing to fuck up. Stewart is the negroest of negros. The boilerplate standard on which all comic book negros are built on. Mans is the Steve Ken Doll.
So, I was a bit taken aback by the fact that the dude from The Underground Railroad was cast as Stewart. So much in fact that I kinda closed out the article and promptly forgot.
Blk TikTok, however, had some things to say; most of it was everything I felt but didn't want to voice. Bc it goes without saying this particular actor is Stewart's antithesis, one his comic creator (Neal Adams) made a point of pushing against when DC execs wanted Stewart to be "light brown".
The light eyes, the fair skin. This choice communicates a specific message to the general audience in extremely troubling ways. More so because of how hypervisible the subject of colorism in the streaming platform era has become, and what it means that he accepted this role at all.
Clearly, this is a business move on his part. He's currently pushing to make it big with the release of Rebel Ridge on Netflix, Black women across the diaspora are fawning over him (which means they'll watch anything with him in it), and this'll platform him for other major projects.
A video behind the cut says a lot of what I'm saying a little more eloquently, backed with comic book history. He argues that this isn't the actor's fault. Me? He made himself complicit when he accepted the role, so he earns every bit of criticism about this situation.
But, overall, I'm disheartened.

Saw a post last night, begging people to watch Dead Boy Detectives or it will be canceled by Netflix.
I am so tired of seeing this every time a new show comes out.
It's a streaming platform. I should be able to watch it any time i feel like it! (i haven't had the time to watch anything in over a month!) They're metrics should cover more than the first two weeks after a show is dropped in its entirety! They should count months of streaming and repeat watching. People have lives! No matter how much we love a piece of media, we can't just drop everything to make sure Netflix knows we're interested in a thing.
Fuck you, Netflix! And HBO. And Amazon. And every single streaming platform who does this.
And I am still pissed they canceled Lockwood and co.

So today I saw the post about streaming services and how better DVD's are and like, it's something I'm so angry about! I hate that if you want to legally watch things nowdays, you need to subscribe to millions of different streaming services and even then you have NO GUARANTEE that the thing you want to watch will be there. For example, since my brain decided to make The Freemaker Adventures my special interest I often rewatch this show for fun, when I need comfort or when I need fanfic ideas. When season 1 first came out, I watched it fully in TV, but then I switched to the internet. But like. Back then I was a kid so I only watched on not legal sites and even when Disney+ appeared, I didn't have money... obviously. So when I noticed that The Freemaker Adventures was disappearing from those sites, I instantly bought the DVD and it was amazing decision, because I love DVD's and the vibe around it and thanks to that I have not only original version of the show, but also Polish dub. Now I don't think Polish dub is that good, but it has its charm and I love the voices for the characters and it gives me nostalgic feelings, because when I first watched the show, it was with Polish dub. And then season 2 started to come out and problems appeared. I didn't really have that much time to watch it in the TV so I just watched it in the internet, again, on not legal websites and it was fine. But then the episodes started to disappear from those sites. So the logical thing to do was to buy a DVD of season 2, right? Well yeah... if it actually appeared in Poland! But no, they didn't make DVD with Polish dub and I literally couldn't buy it, even though other countries like USA got it. And so I began to think, what will happen if it simply disappears from the internet? The whole season 2 was once on official Lego YouTube, but it disappeared before I had a chance to download it. Then I found out that they deleted it probably because it was put on Disney+. Now, I didn't really have Disney+, but my sister gave me password to her account. And I went there and surprise, surprise, Freemakers aren't even there! Like bro! Congratulations! They literally make us pay for every shit and then they don't give us that shit. Listen, I get that the Freemakers aren't popular, but if that's the case, they could just let Lego upload the episodes again, because who cares? Why freaking delete them everywhere?? Luckily, I know that I can still watch it on some websites if I search hard enough. But I actually managed to get the whole season 2 on my pendrive. It's not in the best quality, but hey! It's there! I have it and nobody can take it away from me (I will bite if someone tries). But if I wanted to watch it in better quality or with Polish dub, it's not possible for me. Polish dub literally doesn't exist anymore. You can't find it anywhere! And DVD? Like I said, it never came out in Poland. Which sucks, because I recently saw the menu of the DVD and it looked GORGEOUS. I guess I like to pay attention to details like that. But yeah. Streaming services is something I'm never going to be not salty about-

networks and streamers cancelling shows they *can't* afford is insane. they can't afford the shows they create, they underpay their writers, and yet they rake in profit and return it to shareholders:
Tumblr media
can someone please explain this shit? bc all i see is tptb cancelling beloved shows and crying poormouth then turning huge profits and caring more about money than the point of the business they're actually in:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
they turn a profit by gutting their assets.

I am absolutely devastated by this news. Bandcamp's former workers and indie musicians will all be negatively impacted by this. I hope a new platform arises from this, but until then, many people's sources of income will be in limbo. My page focuses on goth music, but I hope that indie musicians and music fans of all genres come together during this time.

Ex guitarist of Smash Mouth talking about music streams royalties.

greg_camp_music: Folks, this is why we need to support our artists in any way we can, go to a show, buy a tee shirt, buy their vinyl even if you don’t have a record player, buy a sticker, give ‘em a hug if possible! Since we switched from purchasing physical copies of albums to streaming (for free)the people who create the music have suffered the most. Don’t get me wrong, the music “ business” continues to thrive, but they’ve forgotten to take care of their artists. Hug your local Songwriter.

streaming platforms read One Thousand and One Nights about Scheherazade exploiting human nature’s love of stories in a desperate fight to not be murdered by her husband, and thought her husband's unmet desire to hear a whole story in one sitting was the moral, and based their entire release schedule around that
